I just learned my paracord supplier has a Pinterest for like designs and stuff

But they also have quotes, some of my favourites being “DIY: The only place where ‘Measure twice, cut once’ turns into ‘eh, close enough’ ”, “Crafting is my way of saying ‘I could buy that but where’s the fun in that’ ”, “Crafting Tip: If in doubt, add more colours. When not in doubt, add even more!” and my personal favourite “In crafting, perfection is overrated. Embrace the wonky and call it artisanal”

My life is full of realizations lately…but I changed my mind about this post so it's only about my kumihimo experiments.

Anyway, in the last week I’ve been experimenting with different braids on my kumihimo, just to try out different patterns, colours and strings. Not for gifting…just experimenting. It was a strange experience.

Oh and I made myself a microcord bracelet to match my other one I got as a parting gift. It turned out quite shabby, because I sabotaged it as usual, but it works and I like it! It’s the black-green-yellow one with the buckle.

My observations:

1: braiding paracord does a number on your styrofoam kumihimo frame…

2: wool yarn is beautiful

3: attaching buckles and any end piece aesthetically is hard af

4: not all colours match (duh…)

5: braiding with 16 strands is exponentially harder then with 8. Don’t get me started on the 20 strand pattern…

6: always use a counterweight if you braid flexible thread. No, your finger hold is not enough. Trust me!

+1: Wilson loves(or hates, it’s hard to tell 😍) the red-orange-black lozenge pattern
