Descriptions of Haunted Locations

The doors of the motel were identical, nothing differentiating them besides the rusted numbers. They were dirty, as if they had never been cleaned, and the paint had been chipped off over time. Some of the doors looked like they were covered in claw marks-- fingernails digging into the old paint in chilling, desperate lines.
The house was old. It looked like it hadn't been cared for in decades. The grass in the yard was up to her knees and ivy leaves grew on the exteriors of the house and rooted in the gutters. The windows were boarded up, making it look abandoned. The only way to glimpse the inside of the house was through the attic window.
The entry way was filled with dust. It lingered in the air and on every surface. He glanced up at the antique chandelier hanging high overhead, seeing the dirt and grime that dirtied the glass crystals. He tried the light switch, flicking it up and down but to no avail. When he turned on his phone's flashlight, and shone it through the dusty air, a shadow passed in front of him, darting through the entry way and up the stairs.
The motel room was small, the bed made with a comforter that looked like it came from their great-grandmother's house. It was a dirty floral pattern, with yellow pillows that were probably once white. The carpet was stained. Either with blood or dark red wine, they weren't sure. And the window that looked out onto the walkway was covered in fingerprints.
Taxidermy. The lobby of the motel was filled with horrible dead animals mounted to walls and displayed in the corners. She was near certain that their eyes would move. As she checked in, the taxidermy squirrel that sat on the desk stared at her with it's teeth bared.

Harley's bad bad day
When his parents excitedly talked about a family trip to Gotham, Danny was skeptical. Why would he want to vacation in New Jersey?
He ended up accepting. But he couldn't leave his duties as King unattended so he made some arrangements with Wulf and the other ghosts. They promised to behave in the best possible way. Danny didn't believe them but had no choice.
Without him realizing it, as soon as he set foot in Gotham the city got filled with ambient ectoplasm. Achieving that the shadows of the spirits could form correctly as ghosts in the city.
Many of the ghosts decided to seek an entrance to the Realms, maybe visit the King who was visiting their city. Others were furious at their deaths and wanted revenge. The Joker was number one on the list.
Harley was the second closest. Although she had parted ways with the Joker a long time ago, the ghosts didn't care that she had changed. She killed them, all her change wouldn't fix that.
The dead do not forget
When Harley woke up that day she didn't expect to find a knife stuck to the side of her face. She got up upset but the knife seemed to have fallen from the ceiling. She frowned, not remembering how it got there.
The more time passed, the more she suspected that something was up. Around midday she was convinced that someone was trying to kill her. So many accidents happened to her that it was ridiculous. The girl couldn't help but become paranoid and seek refuge with Bruce.
Batman wasn't one to accept or deny the existence of ghosts but he was sure Alfred wasn't talking to himself. When Harley told him what was going on with her he frowned.
Why was there paranormal activity in Gotham? And why was it after Harley? He grunted at the thought that he should call Constantine.

Prompt #1238
The vampire frowned as they inspected the remnants of their last meal.
“I thought you would have better self-control than that,” their companion said, lounging in one of the few non-blood-soaked areas of the room. “Especially being old as you are.”
The vampire, still covered in blood, sat on the floor. “I often forget my hunger until it’s too late. It’s a problem, to say the least of it.”

"The outer reaches of space remain unexplored by humankind to this day, but its greed is relentless. We grasp and yearn and hunger for knowledge— answers to questions we cry out into the endless void expecting to understand, expecting the stars to respond. The stars will not, but one day something else will— and we will not like what it has to say." — Rome Solomon, Beyond the Exosphere (1965)

There were reports of paranormal activity once again in Gotham, and it was getting more annoying than usual. Thankfully, the approval for establishing a franchise in Gotham had gone well, and it was usually went off after something had gone wrong. It did.
Just not in the way the Ghostbusters expected it to go, but as a citizen of Gotham, you could’ve seen this coming a mile away.
——————————————————————————————————————————————-
Daniel “Danny” Fenton (Phantom) decided to transfer over to Gotham, after Phantom had been unexpectedly banned by superficial “moralistic” people who were full on crazy. Once he transferred, he, along with his friends, transferred to Gotham, hearing that it had a lot of paranormal activity in the area. They were warned that the “average” criminal element was usually handled by either the Gotham City Police Dept., or by the elusive “Bat-Man”.
Only two days into working as a Ghostbuster in Gotham, and their first fight with the cult, dubbed the “League of Shadows”, and they believed that Ra's al Ghul is somehow immortal. While it sounds far-fetched and insane, it’s later revealed that the science behind it is pretty sound. The nasty side-effects as they find out, outweigh the help to restore vitality like it does to Ra’s. So when they summoned up ghosts, they handled it pretty well. That was when the Bat Family decided to drop in.
Batman (Bruce Wayne) at the time, thought that the Ghostbusters were a bunch of con artists, mainly due to the fact that he did do deep digging into the product that was Ghostbusters. That changed the night the League of Shadows tried to summon a deity. It didn’t go so well, and instead an army of ghosts were causing a ruckus, thus causing the Ghostbusters to arrive on the scene. They tried talking the LoS down, and when that didn’t happen and they stuck their ghost on them, the GBs handled it like pros, capturing the spirits and trapping them easily, including a few experimental products that they decided to field test right then and there (the tripod dual trap worked like as easy as a store bought pie). It surprised Batman that these Ghostbusters were legit and not some kind of hoax.
Meanwhile, the Bat Family was trying to figure out the four new Ghostbusters while handling Ra’s al Ghul’s plan.

If you're not taking them just ignore. Hope your day is really nice
Haha, there's an Arcana flash fic I wrote a looong time ago that this prompt reminds me of.
I asked for a monster and another anon suggested werewolf, so we're going with that.

The second day of the convention had proved to be less lucrative than Amber had hoped. At this rate, she would likely break a little over even with the stall and overhead. Not terrible, but she had higher hopes for her first convention as a vendor. Especially since she debuted her webcomic earlier in the year.
It didn’t help that most other vendors near her seemed ten years her junior. Somewhere in their early- to mid-twenties, already popular in their art or writing. It made that sense of imposter syndrome - or the thought she should have done something with her life by now - dig in deep.
Little attention on her stall, plus some rather big name speakers drawing her potential customers away every hour, had left her feeling even more morose. It didn’t help that her best friend, Addie, kept taking off, eager to take in all the sights and programs. Of the two of them, extroverted Addie was more equipped to handle customers.
And had been the one to convince Amber to risk money on this venture.
Losing her tenth customer for the morning, Amber had resorted to idly sketching in her sketchbook, letting the sounds of the event wash over her. Her introverted batteries were at risk of exploding if she plastered her customer service smile on for yet-another easily-distracted congoer.
A constant flow of talk, of bodies constantly moving, of noisy little doodads or televisions played. Overhead, a screen indicated upcoming events and, occasionally, played ads concerning prices at the convention hall’s food court. Farther away, near the doors of the main hall, cosplayers posed and cameras flashed.
Someone’s hand leaned at the edge of her table, the plastic creaking under their weight as they leaned to peer at her art. Amber tensed, braced for questions or maybe even a request for a free drawing. Her mechanical pencil continued to sketch, pretending to be too focused to pay the interloper any mind.
“So, I take it you don’t like Montos?”
Apparently, someone couldn’t take a hint. Then again, Amber was supposed to be hawking her wares. Namely her art and webcomic. Still, she was bitter over her circumstance and her MIA co-worker.
Shrugging, Amber didn’t bother looking up as she continued to work on the not-so-flattering caricature of Montos, fan favorite villain of hit streaming show Of Wolf and Blood. “The character is okay - as far as a bad guy, y’know - but the actor is just overhyped.”
The interloper chuckled, deep enough that the resonance made a tingle shoot down Amber’s spine. There was a smile in their voice as they replied, “I hear that. I’ve been on his sets.”
“Is that so-” Unimpressed and ready for some harebrained lie, Amber shot the visitor a skeptical look. Her disbelief faded as her eyes landed on Augustine Prime. A pompous name for an even more arrogant actor, if tabloids were to be believed. “Oh.”
For a beat, all she could do was stare at him. From the back of her mind, she could hear Addie’s gushing voice relaying details about this very man. He/him, seven foot, a lycan with alleged hellhound blood in him, and built like a strongman competitor.
Amber could see why he was a fan favorite from his size alone, but those dark gold eyes and chestnut brown waves - worn in a way that made Amber think of a surfer dude - certainly didn’t hurt. The fact he was half-shifted didn’t hurt, either. Walking around like a damn anime character with wolf ears and tail on full display. Faintly, she tried to recall if his clothes - a suit with some obnoxiously bright tie - was from a anything she recognized.
“Oh.” It was curiosity and realization that made her glance down at her sketch, part of her trying to gauge how accurately she was. It took her a half-second to realize that perhaps drawing a less-than-flattering picture of an actor would result in retaliation. Her eyes swung back up to Augustine’s face, that infuriating smirk still tilting at his lips. “Oh no.”
“So, how much?” He nodded to her hands, to her sketchbook.
Amber’s brain grappled for understanding. “H-how much?”
Augustine’s smile spread a little further, showing off unnervingly perfect - slightly sharp - white teeth. “For the drawing.”
Instinctively, she snapped her sketchbook shut, slamming it down on the table and folding her hands atop it. “Wh-what?”
Amusement quirked further through his features as he raised an eyebrow. “The drawing you were just working on.”
She clutched her sketchbook to her chest, barely keeping a whine down at the back of her throat. From the way the man’s infuriating grin broadened yet again, she was willing to bet he could hear it regardless. Something broke in her mind. Agitation over his smarminess cleaved through her shock and surprise.
When she answered, her knuckles hurt from clutching to her sketch pad so hard. “I charge $200 for commissions.”
Augustine’s other eyebrow rose to join its counterpart. “Correct me if I’m wrong, but commissions would mean I’d ask you to draw.”
“I-It’s not finished.” Amber wanted to bite her own tongue for stuttering, but she sat straighter and tried to sound firm, “So you’d be asking me to complete it.”
It was only then that she realized people were staring. Hell, they were amassing around her table. There were obvious fans, hoping to catch Augustine’s attention, and nosy busybodies who were undoubtedly wondering what exactly this star was doing at her table. Heat clawed up Amber’s back, threatening to spill a blush across her cheeks.
Gods, why couldn’t he have dropped by when Addie was here?
“Can’t argue there. Here you go.” Finally, Augustine shrugged and pulled his wallet out. Amber numbly stared as he slapped down two $100 bills. Her eyes swung to his face, mouth open to protest, but he silenced her with a wink and a grin. “Deliver it to the VIP section when you’re done.”
Augustine swept away from her table, taking most of the accumulated crowd with him. If he noticed his silent entourage, he didn’t take any notice. As her hand smacked over the cash, sliding it closer to her, she watched the actor swagger off.
Though most of the crowd had left, quite a few people had remained. She realized they were asking about her art, her webcomic, her relation to Mr. Prime and she fielded the question while still trying to process her own shock.
There was one thing, however, that lit up in her mind.
She really should have charged him more.

Subject: To Whom It May Concern
Text: A recent discovery of files of unknown origin was made at an abandoned research black site in the American Midwest. The entrance to a sub-basement was uncovered, and while the interior had largely collapsed, a number of files were retrieved from the wreckage. After restoration, a number of these files are legible enough to be parsed, though the information within is heavily redacted. In the interest of public knowledge and safety, I have chosen to disseminate this information to your organization, as well as several others, in the hopes that it will make its way into the public consciousness. [REDACTED]
Image 2 ID: A digitally scanned image of a paper that appears water stained and browned by age.  The text reads:
Department of [REDACTED]. CONFIDENTIAL. PHOTOGRAPHIC EFFECT ON METAPHYSICAL ENTITIES.
[There is a large black square in the page, supposedly a censored image of some kind.]
Introduction: While a number of folkloric claims have arisen over the years regarding the relationship between the camera and the soul, adequate and extensive study done by [REDACTED] has shown that photographs of any kind using any apparatus have no effect on the soul, given that the soul is still contained within a living physical form. Additional observations were made of the effects of photography on detached souls, sometimes referred to a “ghosts” or “spirits”. Through repeated trial and error, it was established that detached souls can be alternately harmed, weakened, contained in, and killed by photographs. A number of factors are required for each effect to be achieved, and it was shown that attempting “stack” multiple [text ends as the page ends]
Image 3 ID: [text continues from previous page] effects will negate all of them.  The following is the [REDACTED] approved procedure for the photographic containment of detached souls.
[Another large black rectangle covers the page, censoring an image. Underneath is printed ‘Fig. 1′.]
Cameras must be made with specific approved materials. Additional materials will muddy the results, and in many cases, nullify them entirely. The precise materials vary depending on the desired result, though silver must be present in the camera’s functioning mechanics for any effect to be achieved. The presence of a silver charm, silver case, silver tripod, as well as silver making up the “shell”, or buttons were all proven to be ineffective. The reason for this is as yet unknown.
A functional multi-purpose camera was successfully created (see fig. 1) by crafting the base components using [REDACTED], [REDACTED], and silver [REDACTED]. (For a full list of approved materials and substitutions, see Appendix 1). The base functionality of this camera allows for observation while not otherwise affecting the detached soul.
[The font changes from typewriter-esque to Times New Roman] [REDACTED] NOTES: Digital cameras have been shown to affect detached spirits in a number of cases, however, in the vast majority of these cases the effects were limited and transient. Dr. [REDACTED NAME]’s working theory is that digital cameras “chip away” at detached spirits, taking an [text ends as the page ends]
Image 4 ID: [text continues from the previous page] “electronic bite” of them, piecemeal. No indication yet on if the deletion of the digital image returns the “part” taken. Effects of repeated digital exposure have been shown to reduce the detached spirit’s ability to manifest, communicate, and recall their former life. [REDACTED] NOTES CONT.: Dr. [REDACTED] has further posited that the advent of cable and online ghost hunting shows has led directly to the decline in meaningful communication with “the other side”. She also suggested that repeated exposure of attached souls (i.e. any human) to digital devices will have a weakened but similar result on the psyche. (Despite no meaningful evidence I am almost inclined to believe her).

Prompt #1254
“You okay?”
“Probably,” they responded, staring off into the middle distance. “I haven’t started seeing dead people yet but I can feel their memories.”
“So that means it’s really bad and we should get you out of here.” He began hauling them off the floor by their armpits, reminiscent of a particularly malcontent cat being dragged away by its owner.
