“Just hold still…and done!” Nancy grinned as she capped the eyeliner. She brushed a lock of hair out of his face before declaring, “You’re officially stage-ready.”
Eddie turned to look at himself in the mirror, instantly pleased with what he saw. Steve always said that his big-ass Bambi eyes were his best feature, and the eyeliner really was making them pop. Add that with the tight jeans, the leather jacket, and the combat boots, and Eddie actually looked like he belonged on a stage.
He looked good, but he only cared so much about his own thoughts, “You think Steve will like it?”
Nancy rolled her eyes, “Like you have to ask. We’ll be lucky if he doesn’t have a heart attack.”
Eddie grinned at that. He could only hope that his reaction would be that good, “And it will last all night?”
“At least for 12 hours,” She reassured, “I used the good stuff. This eyeliner lasted on my mom for a fifteen-hour plane ride once, with layovers. You’re ready.”
Eddie nodded. That was basically equivalent to spending a wild night with Steve, the odds were in his favor. He reached over to give Nancy a one-armed hug, taking the time to hover for a second before she gave him a subtle nod.
“God, you’re such a lifesaver,” Eddie sighed as he squeezed her to his side, “You sure you don’t want to come?”
Nancy snorted, “Are you kidding me? My dad would ground me for the next five years if I got caught. And you know I love you guys but I can barely deal with Steve gushing over you on a normal day, let alone one where you actually look hot.”
“Awwww, you think I’m hot?” Eddie cooed, laughing at the way it made her cringe.
She was already gathering everything back up into her makeup bag, trying and failing to hide her little smile, “Don’t push it.”
But he did, of course he did, the whole way back to the Wheeler house, earning himself a sharp pinch to his arm more than once. He dropped her off at home, promising that they would call her first thing in the morning to say how it went. Then he picked up his boys and the four of them were off, all of them excited out of their minds.
Eddie had never imagined that he would be playing on a real stage, in a real city. It had been a silly little radio contest for a charity event, first five callers got the privilege to audition to be a one-time opener for Metallica, a band that Eddie adored but the rest of the world hadn’t seemed to have caught on to yet. It was a one-time thing, paired with some great luck for the station to catch them for a single night before their next album release. But still, it was a big deal, especially for people like them that had less than zero connections. Steve was the one who insisted that they call in. Eddie had just never thought that they would have actually won.
But they had, and the prize was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet a band that Eddie just knew was going to be huge one day. Plus, free hotel rooms for the weekend? What more could a guy ask for?
It was a fun drive, of course it was. You couldn’t get Eddie, Freak, Gareth, and Jeff in a room together without it being a blast. The only problem was that he already missed Steve. Which was, admittedly, stupid as fuck considering that he’d see him in a matter of hours. He just hated that he had to sneak out for this. Or more aptly, he hated that his parents forced him to sneak out for this. But they had a good plan here.
He’d lie and say he was going to bed early to prepare some bullshit elaborate date for Nancy, one that would involve him being gone for all of Saturday. He’d sneak out his window by seven, drive the two hours to be there just in time for the curtains opening at nine-thirty. Then they’d spend the night together like they had been every night for years, his parents none the wiser.
The shitheads.
Saturday night and Sunday would be a little trickier, but Steve was coasting off the fact that his parents usually forgot to say goodbye when they left for a trip. They had a red-eye flight at 3 am, and Nancy was already prepped to make a fake phone call to ask if he could stay for dinner Saturday. With any luck, they would forget about him entirely, both of them too tired to think about the fact that they wouldn't have seen their son for nearly two days. The last bit was more of a gamble, but Steve wasn’t about to let his parents' wrath ruin his shot at a romantic and paid-for weekend with his boyfriend. Besides, when it came to Nancy, his mom basically never questioned anything. Hell, she was basically on the edge of planning their fucking wedding at this point, beyond ecstatic that Steve had finally gotten himself a permanent girlfriend.
God, that girl really was a lifesaver. Eddie was almost surprised at just how much he liked her, and not even because she was beyond useful when it came to hiding their relationship. She was just…kind of cool? He didn’t know how else to describe it, but her whole gun-toting, no-nonsense, and slightly bitchy persona was really doing it for him. Honestly, on a bad day, Eddie was slightly afraid of her, but he kind of liked that too. The fact that she could go from scarily intense to sarcastically hilarious just equated to a winning personality in his book. And that wasn’t even counting how happy she made Steve, and vice versa.
Sometimes he’d wander into the room that they were supposed to be studying in, only to find the two of them completely off the rails either talking about their shared passion for musicals, high school gossip, or more often than not, Steve Harrington approved seduction methods for her to try out on Jonathan Beyers. Or Tom Cruise, depending on the timing.
They wouldn’t even notice that he walked in most of the time, too caught up in laughing with each other. Maybe it was weird, but sometimes Eddie would just watch them for a minute. Steve would be all giggly and smiling and adorable, and it just made Eddie feel warm. Hell, even seeing Nancy happy was enough to make him smile most days, the girl deserved it after everything she’d been through last year. She was a good person and a good friend. And Eddie was going to get her so many corny Indy souvenirs for covering their asses tonight.
They were all nervous as hell when they finally got there, but actually getting to meet the band while they were setting up went surprisingly well. Though that mostly had to do with the fact that they had prepared for it. They had a fool-proof system of aggressively stepping on each other’s feet when one got a bit too fangirly. And though it left all four with some bruises, it did manage to stop Gareth from telling James Hetfield that he would totally marry him if he was a chick. They made a good impression, Eddie was pretty damn sure of it considering they offered free tickets for their next tour.
It was fun, even if he was still nervous as all hell when it was their time to play. He had never felt this anxious walking out on stage before. Maybe that had to do with the fact that it was a real stage, but still. He wasn’t the type to be nervous about performing at all, whether that be at the Hideout or hopping on lunch tables for an impassioned speech.
He swallowed as he looked out into the crowd, heart pounding in his chest as he realized just how many people were there. It was a far cry from the Hideout where they would be lucky to get ten people to actually notice when they were finished. But this had to be a hundred plus. Eddie’s eyes zeroed into the front row, scanning it for the one thing that could calm him down. It didn’t take long to spot him.
There he was, smack dab in the middle of the row, completely out of place with his adorable pink polo. He was leaning against the railing, hearts in his eyes as he waved up at him. Eddie grinned, his nerves disappearing the second Steve blew him a kiss. Just the sight of him was enough to bring Eddie back down to earth.
He stepped up to the mic, guitar in hand, and started to sing.

Part Eleven
This week is going to be absolute chaos. You’re working extra shifts to cover for Jack and Betsy, who are visiting her parents to give them the good news of their engagement in person, and you thought maybe you’d get at least one night with Dennis, but when he arrived at work this morning, he’d learned that one of his coworkers had quit and so his week has gone from normal to crazy as well. You’re more upset than you probably should be—after all, it’s only five days—but as Monday drags on, that feels like an eternity.
You try to focus on the fact that this weekend you’ll be having your first sleepover at Dennis’s place. You always take Badger out of town to your parents’ house over 4th of July weekend because fireworks give him horrible anxiety and your parents’ HOA strictly forbids them, so your plan is to drop him off with them on Friday, stay the night, and then head back bright and early Saturday to help Dennis get ready for the barbecue. You know he’s nervous about it—especially because he doesn’t really have close friends of his own to invite—but as he kissed you goodnight last night, he swore to you that he really does want to do something for the holiday.
“I can't remember the last time I even went to a party, nevermind had one of my own,” he’d said. “It’ll be fun. Everything is fun with you.”
If you can just get through this week, you know you’ll be rewarded handsomely, but you’re addicted to Dennis now and you don’t know how you’ll survive five whole days without him. You try to focus on work but you’ve been replaying last night in your head all day. You hadn’t expected that from him. You’d figured that Dennis’s first time going down on you would be awkward for both of you—you with your insecurities and him with his own, distracting the both of you and making it hard for you to finish. All that aside, he’d made it sound like you were going to have to teach him everything, and you absolutely would have (and done so with all the patience and kindness in the world), but turns out he didn’t need that much instruction at all. It makes you smile thinking about Dennis reading sex-tip articles, a look of deep concentration on his face as he committed everything to memory. Thinking about him watching videos, though… that makes you feel a different way entirely. The thought of Dennis watching porn and thinking about you—the things he wants to do to you, the way he wants to make you feel—has you clenching your legs under your desk.
Five fucking days. This is going to be hell.
You somehow manage to make it to your break in between your day and night shift, and you call Dennis to check in as you walk to the pizza place a few blocks away. He picks up on the second ring, like he’d been sitting there waiting for you to call.
“I was just thinking about you,” he says.
“Oh yeah?” you reply. “And what exactly were you thinking about?”
“How good you taste.”
His voice is low and gravelly and your whole body is buzzing with yearning.
“Dennis, you can’t say shit like that when you know I can’t see you,” you say. “You’re being so mean right now.”
“I’m sorry, sweetheart.” You can tell by the gleeful tone of his voice that he isn’t. “I could come by for lunch tomorrow…”
A brief mental picture of Dennis sweeping all the shit off your desk, laying you down on it, and burying his head between your thighs flashes through your brain but you shake your head to get rid of it.
“I have a lunch meeting with the ASPCA rep tomorrow. And you’ve got your appointment with Dr. Porter on Wednesday night, right?”
“I could cancel,” he says.
“No,” you insist. “That’s important. And besides, I think the Doc would probably have something not so nice to say about me if I let you cancel your therapy session for a date.”
“He definitely would. And you’re working Thursday night again and then off to your parents’ place Friday, right? Fuck. I just… I really want to see you this week.”
“I do, too.” You can hear the whine creep into your voice but you can’t help it. You want to stomp your feet and throw a tantrum like a toddler. “This sucks.”
“It really does,” he replies, “but we can talk and text and maybe even…”
He trails off but you think you know where he was going. “Maybe even what, Dennis?”
“Nothing,” he says, coughing to clear his throat. “Nevermind. I gotta run. Boss just came by with another stack of Gary’s work for me to take home with me. Call me later?”
“Dennis…”
“Just… call me later, sweetheart. Bye.”
“OK, bye.”
You hang up and grab yourself two slices and a soda to bring back with you, and as you eat at your desk, all you can think about is that “maybe even…” and how much you want to hear him finish that sentence. You know exactly what he means, of course, and you’re completely down. After all, you and Dennis had exchanged a few racy texts before, and if you’re going to make it through five whole days, you’re going to need something to see you through.
By the time the overnight staff arrives, you’re practically asleep on your feet, and you shoot Dennis a text on your way out to your car.
Y: Leaving now. I’ll text you when I get home. Don’t want to wake you if you’re sleeping.
You get a response almost immediately.
D: I’ll be up. Call me when you get in.
The apartment is quiet when you get home; the only sounds are Badger snoring from your bedroom and Mal’s white-noise machine indicating that she is actually home and in bed early for once. You toe your shoes off at the door and read the note she left for you telling you that Badger is all set with his walk and nightly business, and when you get to your room you give Badger a scratch behind the ear (ignoring his grumpy Bitch I’m Sleeping growl) before changing into a tank top and clean underwear. You should shower the day off you but you’re just too fucking exhausted to do anything but crawl into bed and call Dennis to say goodnight.
“Hey,” he says.
“You didn’t have to stay up,” you reply. “It’s after midnight.”
“I wanted to hear your voice. I miss you.”
“I miss you, too, but I’m so fucking tired.”
“That’s a shame,” he says, a hint of mischief in his voice.
You laugh. “I want to, but not tonight,” you say, and you hear him whine.
“Please?” he begs. “You’re gonna make me do this all by myself?”
“I’m sorry, baby,” you say, a big yawn hitting you mid-sentence. “I just can’t even keep my eyes open.”
“Alright,” he says, his voice soft and sweet. “Go to sleep, sweetheart. Call me in the morning.”
“I will.”
“Oh, I know you will.”
You don’t get a chance to question him before he hangs up, and you’re too exhausted to even think clearly, so you just put the TV on low, hit the pillow, and pass out. When you wake, it’s almost 9:30—way later than you usually sleep even on days after you pull a double. Badger is standing over you looking miffed that his morning piss and breakfast have been delayed.
“Sorry, buddy,” you tell him. “Mama was tired.” He nudges your arm with his snout and you laugh. “OK, OK, I’m up.”
You throw on some sweats and a t-shirt and take Badger for his morning stroll, and once he’s done with breakfast, you grab your phone to call Dennis. Before you have a chance to call, you see you have a text from him that wasn’t there before you left for Badger’s walk, and when you open your text chain, you see it’s not a message but a video; the thumbnail is R-rated and well on it’s way to X.
He didn’t. Oh my God… he did.
You throw the living room TV on for Badger and rush into your bedroom, shutting the door behind you, and then you hit play.
“Good morning, sweetheart,” you hear Dennis say, but all you can focus on is the tented sheet in his lap. He pushes it down his thighs, revealing his massive cock in his hand as he strokes it slowly. “I wish you were here with me. Miss you so fucking much. Miss having your pretty lips wrapped around my dick.”
“Holy shit,” you say out loud to no one.
Even though Mal is at work, you grab your headphones so you can hear the deep timbre of his voice as loud as possible in your ear. You lay back on your bed and crank the volume all the way up, and the rumble of his low moans has you spreading your legs and shoving one hand down your sweats and underneath your panties.
“Been thinking about your perfect little pussy all day, baby. Got so fucking hard at work.” He squeezes his bulbous tip and you watch the precum drip out before he gathers it between his thumb and forefinger and smears it all over his head. “I want you so bad, sweetheart. Wanna see your pretty face when you cum for me again.”
He grabs a bottle of lube from somewhere off-camera and squirts a generous amount on the tip of his cock, letting it drip down the length of him before grabbing himself by the base and stroking it up and down. His hand is a blur on the screen and the schlick schlick schlick of his lubed-up strokes has you rubbing your clit in quick circles. You don’t even know where to look: his thick, muscular thighs, his abs tensing and relaxing as he moans and groans, his pecs bouncing just a tiny bit in time with his strokes. His body is absolutely sinful and—as you can hear him telling you—it’s all yours to do with whatever you’d like.
He tugs and massages his balls as he licks his lips, his neck veins straining so hard you think they’ll burst as he throws his head back and moans, “God, I can’t wait to fuck you. Just want to be inside you, sweetheart. So fucking deep inside. Oh, fuck.”
Just thinking about having that big, beautiful cock in your guts is enough to bring you to the edge, and as Dennis strokes himself to completion, your name on his lips as white ropes of cum paint his abs, you speed up your own ministrations and cry out through gritted teeth. Your chest is heaving along with Dennis’s as he comes down, rubbing his spend into his skin. You wish you could lick him clean, wait the .5 seconds it would take for him to get hard again, and then ride his cock until your body breaks in half but you can’t.
Four fucking days.
“Talk to you in the morning, sweetheart,” he says, and then the video cuts.
As soon as you can get a grip on yourself, you call Dennis.
“Morning, sweetheart,” he says, and you can hear the amusement in his voice. “Did you get my present?”
“I honestly don’t even know what to say,” you reply.
You can feel his vibe shift through the phone. “Shit… should I not have-”
“No, no,” you tell him. “You definitely should have. That was so fucking hot. Like… do you have a secret OnlyFans that I don’t know about?”
Dennis laughs. “No. That was just for you. I don’t know what got into me last night. I’m sorry if it was too much, I just-”
“Dennis, stop. I loved it. I just came so hard watching it and I’m probably gonna watch it, like, 100 more times this week until I get to see you again.”
“I can make you another one. I mean, if you want…”
“Yes,” you say. “I want. I very much want.”
Dennis chuckles and you know that he’s blushing and you just feel so lucky to have found this sweet, sexy guy that can go from being the biggest dork to the sexiest hunk of man you’ve ever seen in your life and back again in seconds.
“Hey, Dennis?” you ask.
“Yeah?”
“I don’t care how tired I am after work tonight. You. Me. Facetime.”
***
Four days. Four more days before he can get his hands on you. Dennis had been a little nervous to send you that video, but if he can’t be with you, he wanted to show you exactly how much he wants to be with you. He’d never done anything like that before, but something about you just makes Dennis think things and do things he never would have dreamed about before you walked into his life and shattered the picture he’d had of himself. Dennis thought he knew who he was, and it was a person he didn’t particularly like: a weak man, afraid, powerless. Now, though, he isn’t so sure. It’s scary, this journey of discovering himself—at his age, a man should have a pretty good idea of who he is—but after meeting you, he realizes he has no idea who Dennis Baker actually is. He’s starting to see just how much outside influences have shaped his opinion of himself and the way he lives his life. It’s terrifying and exciting in equal measure to know that maybe he can be whoever he wants to be with you.
And he knows who he wants to be. He wants to be a strong, confident man who isn’t afraid to show you how much he wants you, who isn’t afraid to tell you how much he loves you—the type of man who would believe you if you say you love him, too. He wants to be the type of man you want to marry and start a family with, the type of man you would never get tired of loving. He wants to be the type of man who can tell you all these things—and he’s close now, he can feel it.
But this week isn’t the week. He isn’t about to tell you he loves you through a fucking text message or call or even FaceTime. No, he wants to tell you with your beautiful face just inches from his, because he knows you feel it, too. He knows you’ll say it back. He needed that bit of reassurance from Mal to fully know, but he knows now and it’s killing him to have to wait.
Four more days.
It’s about 5:30 and Dennis is wrapping up his day, packing up all of the extra work he’s got to take home with him since Gary’s abrupt departure. He liked Gary, too. He was one of only a few people at work he would consider anything close to a friend—not that they ever really hung out, but he was a nice guy, invited him into his Fantasy league (which for a long time has been his sole source of social interaction), and they could shoot the shit about baseball and the boss being a dick and all those surface, bullshit things that you talk about with a work friend. The extra work is just the icing on the cake of Gary leaving, but it isn’t anything he can’t handle. Putting in the extra hours this week wouldn’t have bothered him in the slightest before he met you, but now every second he spends doing Gary’s job is a second away from you and it pisses Dennis off a little.
He’s about to text you to see how your lunch meeting went when his phone dings. He smiles because it’s you, but when he opens your text his smile fades and his mouth drops open as a deep guttural sound bubbles up from somewhere in his chest. You’ve sent him a series of pictures, each one more titillating than the last. He recognizes your office as the backdrop of all of them, and in the first, it’s you in just your bra and jeans. In the second one, the jeans are gone and you’ve got skimpy little panties on that match your bra. In the third one, the bra is gone, and the fourth…
“Fuck me,” he moans under his breath, taking in the sight of you bent over your desk, your gorgeous ass on display with just a sliver of pussy to tease him.
Dennis grabs his things and practically sprints to his car, holding his backpack in front of him as he goes so that none of his colleagues notice the growing tent in his khakis. The second he gets the door closed, he grabs his phone and pulls up that fourth picture, zooming in to get the best look he can at that heavenly place between your legs. There’s about a million things he wants to say to you right now—all of them absolutely filthy—and he doesn’t even know where to begin.
D: Jesus Christ I almost just came in my pants in the middle of my office
Y: Poor baby. Just giving you a taste of your own medicine…
D: Why don’t you ditch work and come give me a taste of something else?
Y: Can’t. You’ll just have to make me another video…
D: You’re a real bad girl taking nudes at work
Y: Come punish me then
D: That why you bent yourself over the desk? You need a spanking?
Y: That’s exactly what I need. That and your big fat cock in my mouth.
D: How am I supposed to drive home like this, huh? You’re killing me, sweetheart. Please let me come see you.
Y: Can’t. FaceTime later. Gotta go xoxo
“Christ,” he says to himself. “Four more days. Four more days.”
He repeats it like a mantra, wiping his brow because he’s actually sweating now and he has no idea how he’s going to get home with the massive erection that’s threatening to tear through his pants. He’s trying to push all thoughts of you out of his head in the hopes it will settle down when he gets a call from the Boner Killer herself. In any other circumstance, he would have let it go to voicemail, but he decides to pick up, if only to rid himself of his increasingly painful erection.
“What do you want, Karen?”
“Listen,” she says, her faux-regretful tone an unpleasant reminder of just how many times this has played out before, “I want to apologize for the way I acted the other day. I was just angry and I didn’t expect you to have… company. So, yeah, I’m sorry, but we need to talk about this alimony situation like adults, Dennis. I know you’re mad at me, but that doesn’t give you the right to cut me off.”
Dennis sighs: another fake apology after another drunken outburst in a bid to get what she wants from him. Same shit, different day—but it’s not the same now. Now Dennis has a reason to push back, to fight for his own happiness.
“Look, Karen, I appreciate the apology and all but I’m not doing this anymore. We’re going to court and the judge is going to decide. If the court says I have to pay, I will, but I’m going to fight like hell not to because you don’t deserve another goddamn cent from me. I want you out of my life. For good.”
“This is about her, isn’t it?” she spits, voice dripping with malevolence—there she is, the real Karen, it never takes long. “You don’t actually think she likes you, do you? Please tell me you’re not that stupid.”
“No, Karen, I don’t think she likes me. I think she loves me, and I love her, and I’ll see you in court.”
Dennis hangs up, more determined than ever to tell you how he feels. If he could say it to his demon of an ex-wife and believe it, he knows he can say it to you. He shoots an email to his lawyer, asking after the court date, and heads towards home. All he wants in the world (besides for you) is to take Jax for a nice long after-dinner walk around the neighborhood and think about how exactly he’s going to tell you.
Work clothes exchanged for his sweats and a t-shirt, Dennis walks Jax around the neighborhood, taking the longer route and letting his pup sniff leisurely as he has a good think. He knows he wants to tell you on Saturday, after the 4th of July party is over and everyone has gone home and he finally finally has you alone. Dennis knows you’re staying over that night but he tries not to put any pressure on himself about what that might mean. Of course he wants to have sex with you and he’s pretty sure you want to have sex with him, but he has to give himself some grace—leave room for the possibility that it might not feel right, or he might not be ready, or you might not be. He doesn’t want to force it; he wants it to happen organically, to feel as natural as waking up in the morning, but he knows that’s impossible—that of course there are incredibly high expectations on both sides and the first time probably won’t be some sort of magical, soul-stirring experience. He can hope, though, and he can be prepared.
Even though you were candid about the fact that you’re on birth control for your cramps, he’d bought some condoms anyway. He’d got himself tested after Karen told him she’d been fucking around on him and his results were all negative (and he hasn’t been with anyone since) but he doesn’t know about you and he can’t bring himself to ask. It wouldn’t matter to him, of course, and he knows that he should just have the conversation ahead of time like adults and go from there, but he’s just got so many other things going against him when it comes to sex that he can’t add one more awkward conversation to the mix. He’s operating under the assumption that, when and if the time comes, he will use protection, and he’s more than happy to wrap it up if it means he gets to be inside of you. It’s not what he thinks about when he thinks about fucking you, though. He thinks about fucking you raw and pumping you full and watching you drip with him. It’s what he thought even before he knew you were on the pill, and if you’d let him, he would do it even if you weren’t. But that’s another conversation—one he knows he has to have with you but that he’s not ready for.
Because Dennis wants a family so desperately; he always has. Karen pretended to want the same thing but, like everything else, it was all bullshit. Once they got married, it was all “let’s wait a little while” and then a few years later it was “I never wanted kids—you knew that.” She actually managed to convince him that he’d misunderstood her, that she had always been honest with him about her lack of desire for motherhood. He understands now, thanks to Dr. Porter, that it was textbook gaslighting, but for a long time he thought it was his own fault he wasn’t a father.
Dennis doesn’t know what he’ll do if you don’t want to have children because it’s one of the few non-negotiable things he needs from a relationship. He doesn’t care in the slightest if he has a biological child or an adopted child; he just wants to be a dad. It’s one of the things he knows he needs to discuss with Dr. Porter tomorrow and he’s dreading it, but he feels in his heart that you want the same thing as he does. He’s never met someone with more love to give than you, never met someone so patient and kind and caring, but Dennis doesn’t want to make assumptions—not every woman wants to be a mom, and that’s perfectly ok. He just can’t put his heart and soul into one that doesn’t. Not again.
But he’s getting way ahead of himself—thinking about marriage and babies when he hasn’t even voiced his feelings for you. He has to tell you he loves you, but how? The over-the-top cheesy romantic in him thinks briefly about a fireworks display, but that would be a nightmare for Jax (who will probably already be freaked out by whatever the neighbors have going on) so Dennis quickly axes that idea. He wants to do something, though. He wants to make it special. He wants you to know that he’s felt it for a long time—that it’s not just something he spits out without thinking.
By the time he returns home with Jax, he’s still coming up empty, but if he has to wait four—well, basically three—more days to see you, at least that gives him time to come up with something perfect. Because it has to be perfect. It has to be, because you are and it’s what you deserve. He’s run out of time to focus on it now, though. He needs to get his/Gary’s work done so that he can cut out a little early for his appointment with Dr. Porter tomorrow. He fixes himself a little something to eat—the lemon spaghetti you’d taught him to make, which is his new favorite thing in the world because it’s delicious and reminds him of you—and then he gets to work with ESPN droning on in the background and Jax napping next to him on the couch.
He finishes up around 10 and takes Jax for a quick night walk before getting ready for bed. He knows he’s gonna have to wait for you a while—the overnight crew doesn’t start until 11:30 and you won’t be home before midnight—but even though he’s exhausted, all it takes is a few moments studying the pretty pictures you’d sent him earlier to have him wide awake. He lets Jax up on the bed and scrolls Netflix, deciding to start watching Schitt’s Creek because you’d told him it’s one of your comfort shows. He’s on the third episode when you finally call.
“Hey, baby,” you say, and Dennis doesn’t know what to focus on—all he ever wants to do is look in your eyes, but you’ve got your phone tilted so that your tits take centerstage, and he can see your nipples through the sheer baby-pink bra you’re wearing. “You have a good night?”
All Dennis can say is “Fuck me.”
“I’m trying to,” you reply, panning your phone down so he can see your matching panties—if you could even call that miniscule scrap of fabric that. “You like?”
“Sweetheart, I love. But you know you don’t have to dress up for me.”
“You want me to take them off?” you ask, and Dennis doesn’t know what to say—because of course he does, there’s nothing better than you totally naked—but also you look so fucking cute in this pretty pink set you’ve chosen to wear for him: it’s somehow innocent and sinfully sexy at the same time, just like you.
“Keep them on,” he says. “You look so fucking gorgeous, baby,” Dennis says.
The hand not holding his phone reaches down to pull his cock through the hole in his boxers, and you notice, because of course you do.
“Lemme see it,” you plead. “Please? You know how much I love it.”
“You really do, huh?” he responds, and you nod. “You really love my dick that much?”
“I’d do anything for your cock, baby. Anything. Tell me what you want me to do.”
Dennis takes a moment to think about it because there are various scenarios running through his mind right now and he doesn’t know which one to pick. He decides to have you recreate the position you were in earlier because oh did he like that.
“Turn around,” he says. “Shake your ass for me.”
“So you liked that last picture, huh?” Dennis watches as you get your phone into position on your nightstand before crawling back up on your bed and sitting back on your knees. “Thought you might.”
“It was a fucking tease is what it was.”
“You want more?” you ask, running your hands up your body.
“I want everything,” he replies. “Show me.”
You flash him a naughty little smile as you reach behind you and unclasp your bra, holding the cups (as if they really hid anything at all) before you slowly let the garment drop. Dennis groans as you roll your nipples between your fingers and take your bottom lip between your teeth. He’s got the base of his cock in a death grip and its already throbbing in his hand before you even turn around. When you do, you get on all fours and look over your shoulder as you wiggle your ass at the camera. Only the tiny fabric strip of your G-string is keeping Dennis from getting exactly what he wants.
“You like that, baby?” you ask.
“Fuck yes. Now take your panties off, sweetheart. Nice and slow for me.”
You rise up on your knees and slide them down slowly as requested, only it’s painfully slow and it seems like an eternity before you’ve got them down to your mid-thighs and you’re bent over again with your knees spread wide.
“God, I love your pussy. So fucking pretty. Spread it open for me.”
You press your face to the bed and reach around on either side of you, and Dennis moans as you spread your lips apart and start to throw it back and forth slowly. Dennis starts to stroke himself at the pace you’re setting, imagining himself behind you as you fuck yourself on his cock.
“I’m so fucking wet for you Dennis,” you moan.
“I see it. Fuck. I just wanna taste you, baby.”
“Soon,” you say. “Tell me what else you want.”
“Wanna watch my dick slide in and out of that gorgeous fucking pussy, all soaked in you. God, I need to fuck you, sweetheart.”
“I need it, too, Dennis. I need your cock so bad. I feel so fucking empty.”
“Turn around,” he says. “On your back. Wanna watch you play with that pretty little pussy until you cum.”
You grab two pillows and place them at the end of the bed, laying back against them and spreading your legs for him again.
“Lemme see your cock, Dennis. Please.”
Between the sight of you splayed out so beautifully for him and the urgent need in your voice, Dennis’s skin feels like it’s on fire he angles his phone down to give you the look you’ve been begging for. He grips the base and pushes it forward a little, and you make a hungry little mmmph sound when it twitches and jumps back a bit in his hand.
“You’re so fucking big and thick, baby,” you say as you start to circle your clit. “What if I can’t handle you?”
Dennis knows you’re just dirty talking him but he can’t say it isn’t a concern of his. He knows his dick is big, even if he doesn’t quite know what to do with it, and you were so tight around just his fingers that he’s legitimately scared he might hurt you. But he’s done his research—the importance of foreplay and lube, the best positions to make you comfortable and put you in charge of how deep he can go. The last thing in the world Dennis wants is to hurt you in any way, in the bedroom or out of it, and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep from doing so.
“I’m gonna take good care of you, sweetheart,” Dennis promises. “Gonna go nice and slow, stretch you out with my fingers first, make you cum on my tongue, get you nice and juicy and ready for me.”
“I’m ready for you now,” you say, working your clit harder and faster as your hips start to jerk a bit. “God, I wish you were here.” You grip your breast in one hand as you move your other hand from your clit to your entrance, slowly sliding two of your fingers inside. “My fingers are so fucking small compared to yours. Fuck, I need you, Dennis. Please.”
Dennis strokes his cock faster as he watches you fuck yourself on your fingers. “You’re so fucking sexy, sweetheart. Keep going.”
“I don’t know if I can cum without you,” you whine. “I need more.”
“You got any toys?” Dennis asks, desperately hoping that you do because he would kill to watch you fuck yourself with something bigger than your fingers.
“I have a vibrator,” you reply.
“Get it.”
Dennis watches your breasts sway up close as you pull your vibrator out of the drawer in your nightstand. He’s slightly disappointed to discover that it’s something small and egg-shaped and not something he can watch you fuck yourself on—he doesn’t know much about the different types of sex toys except that, according to Karen, they were all better than him—but he’s still absolutely salivating at the thought of watching you use this thing on yourself.
You turn it on and the sound is surprisingly low as you tease your entrace with it. When you bring it to your clit, you throw your head back and curl your toes and shout, “Fuck.”
“That good, huh?” Dennis asks, his eyes locked on your face as it twists up in pleasure.
“Yes,” you whisper. “Oh, God, Dennis. I’m gonna cum soon. Talk to me. Tell me how you wanna fuck me. Please.”
Dennis decides that, for the purpose of talking you through your orgasm and because he is almost ready to bust himself, he’s just going to let his inhibitions go and tell you exactly what he wants to do to you. None of it is realistic, of course; he doesn’t know if he can do any of these things (and he certainly can’t do them yet), but when he fantasizes about the ways he wants to fuck you, he doesn’t have to be realistic.
“I wanna fuck you from behind,” he begins, “hard, and I wanna watch your pretty ass bounce as I give you those long, deep strokes that have you clawing at the fucking sheets and screaming my name. I want to fuck you so good you can’t think, can’t fucking breathe, and then I wanna flip you over and throw your legs over my shoulders and bend you in half and fuck my cum so deep into you that you’ll be leaking me for days.”
“Oh, fuck. Oh my God. Yes. Yes. Keep going. I’m so fucking close.”
“I’m not gonna stop, either,” he continues. “You know I’ll get hard again when I’m still inside you and I’ll just keep fucking you and fucking you until you can’t cum anymore, and then I’ll make you cum one more time just because I can.”
“FUCK.”
Dennis watches your thighs tremble as you cum on your toy, your eyes staring straight at the camera—at him—and your mouth open wide with the sweetest sounds coming out of it. That’s all it takes to finish Dennis off, and as he shoots a load onto his stomach he thinks to himself that he’ll never get tired of looking in your eyes when you cum.
“Jesus Christ,” you say, chest heaving as you pull yourself up onto your knees and then flop down on your stomach, grabbing the phone from the nightstand. “You’re, like, really good at this, you know that?”
“I’m discovering new talents with you,” he replies, feeling a little smug, if he’s honest with himself, because he really is kinda good at this, huh?
“Three more days, baby,” you say.
“Three more days,” he replies.

Over the weekend, we tried to get into the Christmas spirit. The kid and I made salt dough decorations. Then my parents took us to a Christmas fair, a lighting ceremony and an amazing lunch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My pain levels were surprisingly pretty low throughout the day until we hung outside. Standing in one spot for a while in the cold doesn’t bode well for me. Other than that, it was a really nice weekend.
I read a book (actually, I listened to it on Audible), called Bright Line Eating. The author was a former drug and food addict turned PhD and healthy person. She includes a lot of science behind what happens in our brains when you’re a food addict and how sugar is basically as addictive as heroin. The food plan is all about portion control (weighing your food), cutting out all added sugar and flour. (Fruit is okay.) I read it because I was recommending the book to others… but I hadn’t actually read it. lol. I just heard good things about it. It’s a pretty hardcore diet but I can see why it has to be if you’re truly a food addict. Anyway, there’s a lot of research backing what she was preaching so I’m on day 3 of no sugar or flour. I figured I’ll try it for a month and see if it actually makes a difference in how I feel. In no way shape or form will I be actually weighing my food, meal planning, joining a support group or eating at specific times because I don’t care about losing weight. However, I’m writing down what I’ve been eating each day as she recommends. Anyway, if someone is struggling with weight loss/food addiction and they thrive under a structured regimen, then I think this program can be very helpful and will work.
A friend of my parents passed away this week from colon cancer. He was diagnosed a few months before I was (the first time) back in 2018. He went into remission for a while, then it came back. He wasn’t much older than me. I haven’t seen him in a long time but he gave encouraging words to my parents to pass on to me - especially when I was first diagnosed. I felt like if he was thriving and powering through, so could I. It’s a hard blow that he’s actually gone now. He left behind a beautiful family and many, many friends.
Cancer is an asshole.
I took an extra week off the Ibrance and had lab work done today. Now I know that it takes exactly 2 weeks for my blood to return to a normal person’s levels. Maybe I’ll go get a tattoo tomorrow. lol. Kidding. (Fun fact about me: I’m allergic to tattoo ink.)
I looked at my MRI scan and it turns out I have a compression fracture in my lumbar spine - at the L2. Which is where most of the cancer is. I’ve been complaining about lower back pain in that area for a long time now. The fracture was apparently on the last full spine MRI which was August of 2022. So it’s been there for well over a year and no one bothered to tell me. Awesome. (Glad I made that neurosurgeon appointment.)
I’ve been still getting in my walks. On Saturday I took a light backpack with my chair and a thermos of tea. It weighed 6.5 pounds and it was a little too heavy for my neck. After about 30 minutes of walking, I was feeling sore. So I cut my walk short and went to the beach. I saw a sea lion which was cool. Wasn’t able to get a photo, though. …but here’s some boats.
Tumblr media
Anyway, I have a busy week ahead and need to get up early. I’m reading a weird book. Will give a review later. Going to read a bit more before bed.

Do you ever get groceries delivered to your house? Yeah, we get a delivery every Thursday.
What was the last job interview you went to where you didn't get the job? Do you think the interview went well or not? I’ve never failed a job interview - every job I’ve interviewed for I’ve been successful, thankfully. Now I run my own business so I don’t really need to worry about that kind of thing.
Are you the kind of person who can wake up with one alarm or do you need several? One alarm is plenty - I can never fall back asleep once my alarm has gone off, no matter how tired I am.
What's your favourite pasta shape? Fusili.
What position is your body in right now? Sitting, laying, standing? I’m sitting on the sofa with my legs out in front of me on the recliner bit.
Do you have any plans for the upcoming weekend? It’s Saturday and I’ve just started an eight day house-sit. So today I got up, walked the dogs, popped home to shower and see my husband and animals, then back here and I have no real plans for the rest of the day as it’s pouring rain and tomorrow will be the same.
What's one of the saddest movies you've ever seen? The Road.
Has a movie ever made you cry? God, loads of times lol. If I’m on my period I’ll cry at anything ha.
If you have a pet, where are they right now? My own pets are all at home, but I’m currently house-sitting for two dogs and a cat. Bailey (dog) is asleep next to me, Poppy (dog) is asleep on the other sofa and Benny (cat) is asleep under the table.
What's the last dessert you ate? I had a blueberry muffin for lunch if that counts?
Do you experience deja vu often? Not really.
Are there any rooms in your house that you don't go into every day? Yeah, the spare room.
Did you own many videos or DVDs when you were a kid? No. We never had a video player and even into my teens I only owned a handful of DVD’s. My parents (dad especially) were really anti-screen time. Ironically he now spends most of his retirement on a laptop or watching TV lol.
What was the last physical pain you experienced? Back ache.
Have you ever fed an animal at the zoo? Which ones? Yeah, multiple times. Off the top of my head, I’ve fed jaguars, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, penguins, squirrel monkeys, lemurs, birds of prey (eagles, owls, hawks) and the usual farm animals - goats, sheep, horses etc.
Do you use Fahrenheit or Celsius? Do you know both or just one? Celsius. I don’t automatically know the equivalent in fahrenheit, no.
Can you do a handstand? When was the last time you tried? Only underwater. I haven’t done one since we were in Lanzarote though.
Do people misunderstand you? Not really.
What year will you/did you turn 30? In 2019.
Have you ever worked or lived in a high rise building? No.
Who are some of your favourite actors? Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ian McKellan, Maggie Smith.
Do you hate it when musical artists make music for way too long and kinda ruin the legacy they'd originally built for themselves? No.
Is there anything that's been bothering you emotionally lately? Not really, no.
What was the last store you shopped at? Tesco.
What time did you wake up today? Was that earlier or later than usual? Way too early - 5.45am lol. I didn’t really get up properly until 8am though.
Have you ever been to a parade? What for? Yeah, just local carnival type things.
When you exercise, do you do anything to entertain yourself like listen to music or watch TV? Sometimes I listen to music.
Do you ever read other people's survey answers? I read the answers of the person I copy the survey off, but I don’t really seek out other people just to read their answers.
What app on your phone do you use the most? Probably TikTok or Reddit.
Does your current city differ from your hometown in terms of weather? Yeah, it’s much wetter and cooler up here. But we have much more interesting nature and we’re by the sea which is perfect for me.
Have you ever been engaged? Yes, twice.
What can you hear right now? My own typing and the TV.
Do you know anyone who is terminally ill? Not as far as I’m aware.

Dear future self... March 10, 24
Dang these last two weeks have flown by. I'm going to try not to make this too long, but a lot has happened. So after my last post, I had spent Friday night with Amber, we went out for sushi together to review our book club book we finished. It was a really great evening. We really hit some good topics of discussion. We had highlighted some things from the book & then expanded on it. We talked about being a perfectionist & how to help your brain out of that rhythm of negative talk. We discussed some more areas where our childhood molded us into how we thought today & we actually talked about God & religion. How being humble & grateful was such an underrated thing in this world, that it seems though that's the main thing that really gets you through, good & bad. It's kind of amazing. How being grateful really gets you through some tough times, it's probably the main thing that has gotten me through everything it has thus far with God's strength. Then we went back to Ambers and played some board games with Naythan. Saturday I spent the day cleaning up & prepping for fam to come over for early dinner. Mom, Steven & amanda came over. We had dinner & played some games, it was really good to spend time together. It really has been a long time since we've all been together. I ended up telling them that night about Coleson. I was so nervous. I had kind of worked myself up to a point of feeling like maybe I would chicken out but I prayed & just asked God that if there was a good time to share it that I would be able to. Obviously it turned out really good & their reactions were really reassuring. I think because they know that I wouldn't bring anyone up unless it was serious. I've never introduced them to someone outside of Travis, so I think they know that I'm actually proud of calling him my boyfriend. I ended up driving out to Coleson that night, even though it had blizzard all weekend. The drive wasn't too bad. When I got there, he had all the lights off & had candles on his dining table with a bouqet of flowers & a hand written letter. I just about melted. It was so special & I haven't felt that special in a really long time. Honestly, the way he treats me is just... something else. He's so respectful & honoring. I really can't even thank God enough. I read his letter which he had planned out to tell me he loves me. Never have I said I love you so quickly to someone but man have I felt it... to every degree. I didn't know you could really love someone so quickly, so deeply. If I'm honest, in the past, I've said it more so when I've been infatuated with someone or just really enjoyed them & time with them, but has it really felt like true, deep, breath taking love? No, It's definitely never compared to this before. We spent Sunday relaxing & he showed me around the farm. We went for tacos & then to a church service at 6:30pm. Again, never have I gone to church with someone I love. It was a new experience & a new feeling. Something that I've really been looking for for so long. I met his cousin Frankie, she was incredibly sweet. Went for ice cream after & then went to meet his parents before home. I was pretty nervous to meet them, not that I've had any parents not like me before but this felt different. I was a bit intimidated, I think part of me feels like maybe Im out of place here? yet it's all I've ever really dreamed of. I think I just don't feel like I'm living my own life because it's really just a dream. His parents were really sweet. His mom is hilarious & I really think that we'll get a long really great & his dad is a bit quite but I think it was good. Monday we both worked, it was nice to stay during the week to get a feel for what life would be like on a day to day, not just a weekend.

What if we have another Nibling story?
Context: Another 2 of my niblings came to stay this past weekend (a different 2 from the last story) Also, I now have a job which means that most days, I am working from early afternoon till late evening.
My mum planned a few things to do over the weekend, mainly activities for the niblings as I wouldn’t be present most of the time.
On the Saturday, whilst I was working my mum took the niblings to the cinema, whilst my dad stayed at home with my brother. They would be gone from around 6 till I finished work so Dad was instructed to have a curry for tea (this will be important later) Everyone has a good time, Saturday done.
Sunday however, is where things go wrong. Mum planned for us to go to a park in the morning but she overslept. Dad didn’t wake her up, with the excuse “I didn’t know you wanted to go out, and if you did you should have got up yourself” , despite knowing the plan. The morning is wasted and time for me to work. Mum drops me off, has a coffee and stays for a while. During this time, my dad decides ‘hey niblings, let’s go to a playground that we can walk to!’ (That is an imagined sentence as I wasn’t there)
Context: this ‘playground’ is not the park that my mum planned to go to, is about 1/2 an hours walk from our house and doesn’t contain any play equipment whatsoever.
Context: these two of my niblings are quite picky eaters so any mes my mum prepares for them are specifically planned
My dad phones my mum and askes her to pick them up. By this point it is around tea time so my mum goes to prepare 2 burgers for the niblings, but only finds one…
Mum(m): I swear there were two burgers here
Dad(d): I had one for tea last night
M: but I told you to have the curry!
D: but I only finished putting [brother] to bed at 9:30 and couldn’t be bothered to make the curry
M: but you knew that I had them saved for the niblings!
D: you never told me that they were serving a special purpose!
M: I literally went shopping for bits for the niblings yesterday! Did you not think about that?
…So yeah, he ignored my mum’s instructions, and of course it wasn’t his fault!
After the niblings finished tea they went to meet with their parents so they could go home.
When my mum, dad and brother got home (around 9) my brother wanted to watch tv. Straight away my dad was like ‘ok let’s go’, but mum interrupted and said no since it was at least 2 hrs past my brothers bedtime and he had to get up early the day after.
Also, at some point during the day, my dad received a phone call from his daughter (my half sister and the mother of the niblings from the previous story) who is in holiday who said that she and her kids could come up to ours for the day next week. Without checking with my mum to see if we already had plans, he suggested doing something that would leave us with little time for me to prepare for work.
Context: my half sister used to be a hair stylist and a while ago I asked her to dye my hair, due to our current jobs, it’s been hard to find a time where we were both free. The scheduled day is one of the only times we are both free. My mum later asked my dad…
M: what about mdaah’s hair?
D: she can do it after
M: no, mdaah has to work!
…meaning that my hair shall remain un dyed for a while longer.
So what have we learned today? My dad is lazy, unable to take responsibility for his actions, out of touch with the local area, disregarding of pre-made plans, and is a bed-time breaker in order to watch tv, and is wilfully ignorant of my work shifts.

Moab Trip 🧡
I'm really just in my "Yes" era right now, because I say yes to every opportunity presented to me, especially this summer. Last summer was busy with wedding planning, and this summer is busy with being gone all the time. I can't believe how little I'm actually at home, and it's going to keep being like that for the next couple of months too. It's all very fun, but sometimes I start to crave a weekend of doing absolutely nothing (except being productive and accomplishing an entire to-do list for once??). But that's ok, I guess I'll sleep when I'm dead.
This weekend was a quick Moab/Escalante trip. We made the plan because Brayden's sister turned 30, and she wanted to skydive for her birthday. Brayden's never been skydiving, so this was a good chance for him to go. I would have done it, but I have already been twice and don't want to keep paying to do it. So we got home from Punta Cana late on Tuesday night, worked three days, and then drove to Moab late on Friday night. We took Reef to Jason's house for this quick trip, so that my family could have a break from watching him, and he probably had the best weekend of his life. Not only was Jason's dog there, but so were two other dogs that Jason was watching that weekend. So he had three friends while he was there, and he just loves to play with other dogs. I loved seeing the pictures and videos while we were gone haha, what an adventure.
Saturday morning, B did the skydive thing. It was hot sitting around waiting for his turn, and then waiting for him to go and be done, but he did love it. I'm so glad - everyone should try it at least once. We had a quick lunch, took the Jeep on a pretty off-road trail, and then went with his parents and sister on a Moab jet boat ride. They're trying to copy the Shotover Jets in New Zealand, and it was similar but also different. In New Zealand, I felt like the shock of it was how close the drivers would get to the canyon walls and rock obstacles in the river, only to pull away perfectly. This one in Moab was definitely a "water ride" where they were just trying to absolutely drench us. It felt nice at first, because it was so hot out, but after awhile I actually got cold even! It was a good time. (The water in New Zealand is definitely the winner though - why is the Colorado so brown??) We also got to stop at the Moab bookstore from my Utah bookstore map, and that was a great one to get out of the way since we already happened to be down there.
Then we were off to Escalante. I have been wanting to hike the Cosmic Ashtray, and this seemed like a good trip to fit it in. In retrospect, maybe it wasn't, because then we had to drive 4 or 5 hours per day. Moab and Escalante are not nearly as close together as I thought. We stayed at a cute, little house in Escalante for the night, but got up early to drive another 40 minutes out to the trailhead. We were told that the Jeep could handle most of the drive out to the location as long as we had four-wheel drive, so we went ahead. This is a very unmarked hike, and we had no idea where to stop and park, so we ended up going too far and driving through some really deep sand. We almost got stuck, but B was able to back it out of there. From there, we had to hike. B had downloaded a trail guide to his phone, and thank goodness, because otherwise we would have been so lost. We had to hike up very steep slickrock, and it was almost 100 degrees out. I was dying. And then, when we finally got up there and were so excited to see it, we realized we had to hike around the mountain if we wanted to be able to climb down into the sand and back. That was a sad moment.
But we did make it! And it was insane! It feels way bigger than it looks in photos, and the sand is so perfectly fine. Once I got down in there, I collapsed into the cool sand, and it was such a relief after being so hot for so long. I could have hung out in there for hours. You just need some food and a good book, and it's the perfect spot. There was not another soul in sight, and I loved having such a beautiful place to ourselves. I'm so glad we did it.
The hike back went a lot quicker, and then we had to make the long five hour drive back home (gross). It was a packed, adventure kind of weekend, that's for sure.

My father died on August 12, 2021. He had a COVID positive test a few days before my 30th birthday and quickly decompensated by my birthday. He was hospitalized and slowly going into multiple organ failure. Like most COVID patients, his lungs were the first to start failing. He was given all sorts of medication and treatments. By the end, they had maxed out all the legally allowed dosages. I was so angry with him for getting sick. His health has been touch and go since he had his first major heart attack when I was 14. The last 15 years of my life were filled with constant medical emergencies - 3 heart attacks and 4 strokes not to mention regular angina episodes. Needless to say, I was in the hospital a lot and this was just my father. This is not including my mother who has Parkinson’s . And my own health that suffered significantly because of the stress and constant worry.
My mother had gone to a church party on July 16 - the pastor’s wife’s 50th birthday. And yes, she really did throw a massive party in the middle of the pandemic. The last time I saw my father was on July 17, 2022. I had gone to visit my parents and have breakfast that Saturday morning. My uncle was visiting for the first time and my father was so excited, showing off all the things in the house to his older brother. My dad showed me old pictures of when he was younger and pictures of my brother who had passed. It was actually the first time he had ever spoken so openly about my brother. I remember he got really quiet and I just hugged him. This was the first emotionally vulnerable moment we had together. I left in the early afternoon to meet with my partner as per my usual routine. It’ is as clear in my mind as if it were yesterday how happy I felt. I had even called my partner to tell him I had a surprisingly great time with my parents and I was so happy that our relationship was improving. We had made plans to meet the next weekend for my birthday. Everything felt right in the world. Little did I know that I’d never see my father again. I’d never get another hug or another overly enthusiastic greeting that at the time I found annoying. Now I just miss it.
My mother called that Monday to tell me she was COVID positive and that I needed to get tested. My health is not great so being exposed to COVID was a big deal. I remember being so angry with her when she explained that multiple people at the party had tested positive and that most people were not wearing masks - her included. I asked her about my father and she said he was not sick and felt great. I warned her to stay away from him because he was a prime candidate for COVID complications. I was on speaker and I heard my father dismiss my concerns stating he was fine. This only for me to receive a call that Wednesday, July 21, that he was now COVID positive. My father went so far as to tell me that COVID was not as big of a deal as people had made it out to be and that he was going to be fine. I knew deep in my heart that the moment he was positive, he was not going to make it. I couldn’t tell you why but it was such an overwhelming feeling that I reacted like a child - I got angry at him. By the weekend, both my mother and father were hospitalized. Their oxygen levels were dropping and they couldn’t breathe. They were admitted into the hospital and placed in ICU together. My mother looked worse at first but made a recovery and was released by August 6.
My father’s condition suddenly began decompensating with no up tick. His lungs began to fail. The day he was placed on the ventilator, I remember seeing him on FaceTime and he could barely talk. The nurses had these iPads they used for patients to communicate with their loved ones who were on the COVID floors. He was unable to catch his breath despite being on max oxygen. He would make hand signs to try to communicate and ended up cutting the call short. I think he knew at that time that he was not coming home. I had never seen that look on his face before, not during any of the close calls in the last 15 years. And just like that he was transferred to ICU, put under sedation and placed on the ventilator. His condition looked hopeful for the first few days. We received dozens of calls a day from the hospital staff. I remember that Monday, August 9 we got the call - the “its not looking good” call, the “you should consider making arrangements” call, the “what life saving measure would you like taken” call. We were told he was going into multiple organ failure and his lungs were beginning to fill with fluid. They advised us the strain on his heart was getting too great and they had almost reach the max amount of medications to control his blood pressure. They said they can try life saving measures when his heart fails but advised against it because the damage to his organs were irreparable by this point. I never imagined having that conversation.
The next 2 days were surreal. I remember getting dozens more calls from the hospital including one the day before he died. The nurse called me early in the morning and said my father’s was not going to make it past that day and that she can arrange a FaceTime call so the family can say their goodbyes. I called my entire family to let them know what was going to happen and to tell them to be available for the call. I made the arrangements with the nurses and so many family and friends were able to join to say goodbye to my father’s sedated body. After about 2 hours the call suddenly ended. I immediately thought the worst. I couldn’t bring myself to call the hospital and I believe my sister did. He was still alive - if you could call it that. I will be eternally grateful to my childhood friend who worked at the hospital and somehow pulled magical strings and I was able to see my father before he died - in person. I remember feeling determined to see him because I could not accept this was real until I saw it for myself. I was allowed onto the COVID ICU floor where my father was admitted. He was on a floor in which each room was sealed off with negative pressure and no one was allowed inside except the assign nursing staff. Nevertheless I was able to stand outside his room and see him. He would have looked like he was sleeping if it were not for the multiple cables and tubes coming out of my father and into all sorts of machines id never seen before. His chest would rise and fall so unnaturally because of the ventilator. He didn’t look like him. It sunk in he would never come home. It sunk in that I would never hear him call my name again or give me a hug. He never got to visit my new home because I wanted it to be “perfect” before I finally invited him over. I started thinking of all the things he always said he would be there for and how he would never get to see any of those things. How this was it.
I don’t remember getting home or falling asleep. I remember receiving a call at 7:43 AM from the hospital. The moment I saw the number I knew - “no, no, no, no”. I remember saying that as I picked up the phone. The nurse was crying. Then the worst moment of my life unfolded. The words I was dreading to hear. It was official. He was really gone. This was real and this was happening. My father who always said he would like to 100 just to annoy me was gone at 68.

November 28, 2022
monday. 6:11 p.m.
last weekend was thanksgiving. the wednesday prior, i took my mom to a steak dinner at ruth’s chris where i finally had reservations and was able to get seated and finally treat my mom to a proper holiday meal unlike thanksgiving 2014 when i didn’t know i needed reservations to any respectable restaurant and had the saddest thanksgiving on the books at the coco’s in pasadena.
dinner was good, the service was good, and we had leftover steak for the next day and i think she just appreciated being taken out.
thanksgiving day was hosted by lana. i had ordered a pecan pie from gus’ and made two green bean casseroles and went to lana’s a bit early and chatted with her and chugged a bloody mary. i had been a bit .... anxious about going over since it’d be mostly her parent’s generation, that is, her mom and dad, grandma, her aunt, some of her cousins on her mom’s side, and i thought sovath’s family/parents would be there (though they weren’t). my dad and jenny unni came but the only other person who was even close to my age was just sovath and julia. i had fun playing around with sawyer and zoe and chatting with lana but kinda avoided most of the other folks on account of them not particularly liking me and my not particularly feeling comfortable with them. i was the first to leave and brought a plate back to my mom, who ate a bit of it before encouraging me to leave.
friday morning instead of shopping or some such, i picked my mom up at 5am and we went fishing in carpinteria. she caught one fish before stopping for the day, and i caught four fish, gutting the last one badly so we called it a bit early, took it home, and i gutted/cleaned/fried it and we ate it with some mandu and dduk gook which i was craving. the rest of the day was spent resting and warming up.
saturday, what did i do. i think saturday was mostly cleaning and making mandu. later that night, around 9, gh, al, and gy came over and we caught up and drank and they left around 1 a.m.
sunday i pretty much just slept all day and got up occasionally to eat and hydrate.
it was a pretty good weekend overall. i think i also ordered a handful of things online.
feeling ok these days. today was productive in terms of chores: cleaning, and putting things into order, making my lists, etc. i’ve started writing my annual christmas cards and ran the vacuum a few times, washed a few loads of dishes, and made enough mandu for my mom to take home a half gallon sized freezer bag to eat. i feel like i’m catching up on chores, attending to that pile of things on my desk, and next up will be that pile of fishing things behind the sofa, but i’m slowly making my way to them.
i still miss jadai terribly. i wrote her a christmas card today and wept while writing the last half. i wonder if/when i’ll ever get over her.
things with lorena are going well in that we’re fast becoming very very good friends. i’m going to put her in touch with rhiannon to see if they might be compatible as housemates and she’s planning on starting her drive to LA tomorrow, which is crazy.
i’m a bit lonelier these days without chantal and amir and just going into work and seeing my work friends. i have a lot more time at home and so although i’m doing a lot of chores, i think i need to plan more social functions too. i’m reading more and journaling more, but i need to add in more exercise. i’m on the right track, but i’m not quite there yet. i’ve also noticed i’m not playing hours and hours of phone games, which is an improvement from earlier this year when all i wanted to do was play Oregon Trail.
so i guess there’s been progress. sigh.
i’m a bit sad. i miss jadai. i had gone for an hour or so with lorena leaving audio messages back and forth non stop and now that’s stopped and i’m just feeling a bit lost. i think i need more connections. with people.

- September 13th 2022 -
What were you doing an hour ago? Messing around with some YAML code in Home Assistant, trying to fix an automation script I've been working on.
When did you get up today? Around 10.
Is there anyone that could make your day if they showed up at your house? It would make my day if my husband came home from work early, but he literally just left for his flights a few hours ago and he's gone flying til Friday, so that wouldn't happen. And I don't really like having visitors over, so I wouldn't want anyone else to show up at my house.
Do you live west of Ohio? I live in Ohio.
Do you live east of Colorado? Yes.
Does your middle name begin with a A, M, or S? Yes.
How old was the last person you rode in a car with? 35.
What color was the last vehicle you were in? Dark silver.
Do you have big plans for the weekend? My husband and I have plans to go to the town farmer's market on Saturday, and also hiking either Saturday or Sunday depending on the weather.
How many of your top friends have tattoos? Hah I forgot about the Myspace "Top Friends." Can't answer this because I don't use it.
How long have you lived at your current residence? This Friday will be exactly 1 year since we moved here.
How long has your ex been your ex? I don't have any exes.
When was the last time you were up at 5am? A few nights ago.
Have you ever kissed your #4? N/A.
What was the last movie you saw in theaters and who did you go with? My husband and I went to see Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker the night it came out. I'm a big Star Wars fan but this movie was a complete abomination.
When was the last time you went bowling? About 17 years ago. I did a summer semester physical education class between 9th and 10th grade to get the requirement out of the way before going into the next school year, and bowling was one of the units we did. It was a neat class, we also did a trail biking unit, and a canoeing unit, both in the nearby national park.
How about swimming? Last year I think.
Have you ever been to the Grand Canyon? I've only ever flown over it.
The Eiffel Tower? No.
The Great Wall of China? No.
When you go fishing, do you make someone else get the fish off the hook? No.
How old were you in 1999? 9.
How many funerals have you been to this year? None. I haven't been to a funeral since 2016.
When was the last time you spent a night stargazing? I've never spent an entire night stargazing.
Are you taller than 5'6"? No, I'm 5'4".
What was the last thing you cooked? Penne pasta with marinara and roasted vegetables.
Who were the last three people to call you? My husband, my mom, and my doctor's office.
What were you doing last night at 10pm? My husband and I were watching Severance.
Did you go to daycare when you were little? Nope, I never needed to. My mom was a stay-at-home-parent til she started her piano studio business when my brother and I were in elementary/middle school.
Do you have a favorite pillow you always sleep with? I don't sleep with a pillow. Pillows don't provide enough support so I use a folded up quilt instead.
When was the last time you slept in someone else's bed? I slept in one of the guest beds at my parent's house one year ago when my husband and I were moving back to the area from Virginia. There wasn't enough time to do all the truck loading, 6-hour drive, and truck unloading all in one day, so we split the move into 2 days and stayed the night at my parent's house which is about 45 minutes away from this current house we moved in to.
Are there any candles in the room you're in? Nope.
If you turn around, what is behind you? My husband's desk, the new gaming monitor we just bought, the desktop computer, the printer, and my uncle-in-law's iMac that we're attempting to fix for him (something is wrong with the fusion drive).
Would you dye your hair hot pink for $50? Definitely not, $50 is hardly anything. I might do it for $500,000.
Have you ever had someone like you that you didn't like back? Yep.
Do you usually fall for people who also fall for you? Well my husband is the only person I've ever fallen in love with, so yes. :-P
Do you know what you'd have been named had you been born the opposite sex? My parents would have named me David.
Do you have any step or half siblings? Nope. I have one sibling and he's a full sibling.
What is your profile song right now? N/A.
What is your #1's profile song? N/A.
How many people have you kissed in the last 48 hours? I've only ever kissed one person, ever.
The last week? ^
The last month? ^
Do you regret any of them? Nope.
What would you do if your #2 showed up on your doorstep this very minute? N/A.
If you switch 'e' with 'a', 'n' with 'c', & 'l' with 'x' what's your name? Kaxxy. Hah.
When is the next time you will see your #3? N/A.
Would you ever visit a nude beach? Nah.
When was the last time someone gave you a compliment? A few hours ago.
Do you take any prescription meds? Just birth control. Thankfully my migraines can be controlled with OTC meds.
What happens if you don't take them? If I didn't take birth control, then I'd risk getting pregnant and that would require an abortion (because I'd quite literally rather die than have children). I'd also have heavier periods and more frequent migraines.
What color is your underwear? I'm wearing boxers right now, they're blue.
Who was the last person you dreamt about? Probably my husband.
Where did you get the shirt you are wearing? Kohl's.
Where was the last place you spent more than $50? Amazon.
Where is your favorite place to be kissed other than the usual place? Depends on what I'm in the mood for.
Do you hate getting hickeys? I've never been given one. I don't like to receive them, only give them. And my husband doesn't like to give them, only receive them.
Who was the last person to hug you? My husband.
Are there any buttons on the clothes you're wearing? There's one button on my boxers.
How about zippers? Nope.
What percent of your day includes music? Usually 0. Sometimes as much as 4.16% (1 hour out of 24).
Have you had any fruit today? Yep, blackberries.
Who is on your mind right now? My husband.
Are your fingernails painted? No, I haven't painted my nails in about 22 years.
Do you keep a diary/journal? Not in a long time.
In how many years will you be thirty? Hah, more like how many years *since* I turned 30. (2.5 years since I did)
Do you set your marshmallows on fire when you roast them? Sometimes, but only for like a split second. I like them slightly singed, not completely burnt to a crisp.
Do you prefer your tea sweetened or unsweetened? It depends on the type of tea. For black teas, the kind I drink the most, I'll add a tiny bit of sugar along with milk. For iced teas, I like them to be sweetened with fresh fruit. For chamomile and ginger teas, I add a little bit of raw honey. And I don't add any sort of sweetener to green/matcha teas.
Have you ever dated someone who's name began with 'D'? Nope.
Have you ever kissed someone who's name began with 'K'? Nope.
Have you ever hugged someone who's name began with 'E'? Yep.
What scent is your favorite perfume/cologne? I don't wear any.
Have you showered today? Not yet, but I will tonight.
If you went on a blind date, and it turned out to be your ex, you would? I don't have any exes. And I wouldn't be going on a blind date in the first place, because I'm married.
When was the last time you took a nap? Yesterday afternoon.
What are you plans after this? I'll probably make a cup of tea. I just got my package of a bunch of different samples from Harney & Sons, and I want to try out their Florence tea, it's a black tea with chocolate hazelnut undertones.

Somehow even on the weekend, up at a reasonable time, I can’t get my timing right. Yesterday I didn’t manage to leave the house until around 5:30, and, needing to be back by around 7, I didn’t have time for much. Granted, the weather wasn’t great anyway. Again I scrapped some of my plans, drove around, made a stop by Lake Osborne, which felt peaceful as always, and went to the Sephora downtown, for which, it turned out, it was about the worst day, given some sort of festival going on and a traffic and parking nightmare that left me barely scraping by before closing time. But I stocked up on some stuff with some of the money my parents left me for housesitting, so that was good.
My brother was gone most of the day, did not want any home-cooked food, certainly did not want any vegetables, and just barely touched the large selection of fruit and snacks I offered him. I worried a little about his eating habits, among other things, and looked forward to being free of these worries again.
Meanwhile, I missed a call from my grandmother and tried to call her back a few times over the course of a few hours to no response, leaving me wondering if I should go over there and check if something happened. I texted the aunt she has the most contact with, who’d talked to her earlier that day and assured me that she probably just had her phone on silent. Today I tried calling once more, again to no avail.
Overnight, my cousin in Poland got married, my parents sent me pictures, and I remained skeptical about the whole thing, and hoped I wouldn’t get hit with another wave of Disappointment About My Life when they returned.
The garage door situation was fixed easily with a reset button, and I thought about getting a metal detector to help me fix the lost key situation, until I checked the prices of metal detectors (and reviews for the rare cheaper ones).
Some of the flowers seem to have taken a turn for the worse under my care, and I don’t know what to do. I tried watering less, I tried watering more; either way, they got worse. I wonder if skipping watering on a day when it rained, but relatively early, did most of the damage. But honestly, the way these shits will start dying after a single day of suboptimal conditions is baffling. Like how do you fuckers survive in the wild. How do you have no adaptability.
Today I woke up to my brother being gone again. I, meanwhile, had my own list of plans to make dents in. Wasn’t sure if a cloudy day like this one was the best one to go to Oak Lawn, but I had time, I was in the mood, and, after all, it matched the feeling of much of my time living there, so I did.
I hadn’t visited since before I moved to Arlington Heights, as the distance from there is even longer and never quite felt worth it. The drive was nice and surprisingly smooth, save for the obstacle of an accident, free of the traffic I used to encounter when I’d drive my brother to tennis on Saturdays. The place was largely as it had been, an Amazon Fresh in place of Chuck E. Cheese the only notable change. I drove by all the major landmarks - the library, hospital, Target; the old home and schools and prime walking/biking spots; St. Xavier. I walked in the prairie by Moraine Valley.
Though it was all nice to revisit, sentimentality was relatively low. It’s a chapter of my life that by now is comfortably closed. Mostly, there is just a sense of peace about it all. At home, the desire to reminisce also hasn’t been as strong as I’d expected; mostly, I’m just trying to enjoy the present.
In the evening I craved Aurelio’s pizza, which I also hadn’t had in years, and my brother was down to have some, so I ordered us one, and that was good. Tomorrow he goes back to college, and then I have less than a week left alone before my parents’ return.

a/n: A couple of weeks ago I saw a post about ex’s to lovers, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. So basically it’s a story about two people who ended things on a semi-good note, like nothing inherently bad happened between them, but they decided to break up. Sometimes people find their way back to each other, though. That’s what we have here. Harry is a tax attorney, a few years older than our MC, Blair Smith, who teaches jazzercise. (not proofread) PLEASE REBLOG IF YOU READ THIS AND LIKE IT, YALL WANTED ME TO KEEP POSTING FICS ON HERE, SO HERE YOU GO! PLEASE, IT TAKES TWO SECONDS! Check out my patreon for other excursive content.
Warnings: angst, fluff, smut (sub!Harry????), mentions of death, a funeral
Words: 17.8K
Pairing: Harry x OC (Blair Smith)
When Blair Smith became a Physical Education major in college, she never thought that would lead her to leasing a dance studio, and teaching jazzercise. It took her until she was twenty-five to really get it all together. She wasn’t mad about it, she actually enjoyed it more than she thought. She double minored in Dance and in Business Administration, she had never been so thankful to have overloaded herself in her life. She thought she would be teaching gym at the high school level, along with some health and nutrition classes, but when she did her practicum semester at a local high school near her college, she realized that working with younger students was not for her. None of them listened, none of them really wanted to be there, aside from the gym-class-heroes, and she couldn’t stand that the majority wouldn’t even change their clothes for class.
Blair wanted to make her own rules. Luckily, after presenting a well-thought-out business plan to her parents, she was able to get them to co-sign for a loan from the bank to lease a dance studio. She named her studio Just Dance because she offered different types and levels of jazzercise. Some involved use of weights, some involved a little more high intensity, and some involved a little yoga. She was grateful for the couple of marketing classes she took because she was able to really build her brand. She had an Instagram, Facebook Page, and a website. She had an online way to sign up for memberships, and she had daily drop-in prices.
It was easier than she thought to build her clientele. She had a great spot in the city, and there was a small parking lot out back behind the building. Most of her friends from school signed up, and helped her advertise. It was open to men and women, as opposed to a lot of jazzercise places that only offered classes to women. Even though Blair couldn’t afford to hire a second instructor, she was managing things just fine. She offered two early morning sessions, one lunch hour session, and three evening sessions. So, she had plenty of time to relax, stretch, and not over work her muscles. She was strategic about class offerings as well. She gave herself Sundays and Fridays off, since those seemed to be the days with the least amount of people signed up. Monday through Thursday, and Saturday, she made sure to stagger her lessons. For example, Mondays and Wednesdays were weights and yoga infused classes, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays were the high intensity days. Going into her fourth year doing this, she had it down to a science to say the least.
Business was always really good in January and February, when people were making their New Year’s resolutions, and during the summer months when people were trying to feel better about being in their bathing suits. Blair always preached positivity and inner health as the most important things. It was an inclusive space, which is exactly what she wanted it to be.
She liked working for herself. If she needed to run errands between classes, she could. If she wanted to take a nap in the middle of the day, she could. She didn’t have to answer to a single person. Her parents would sometimes ask questions, but mostly just to make sure Blair was making her loan payments on time. She had automatic withdrawals set up with the bank, so she didn’t even need to think about it. Yup, Blair had just about everything figured out, and she knew she was very lucky for that.
//
“Don’t worry, Mrs. Sullivan, we’ll get everything figured out for your son. Yes, he’s in very good hands with me. Alright, have a nice evening.” Harry hangs up his phone and sighs, rubbing at his temples to soothe the oncoming headache he could feel. It was another complicated trust fund case, but that was the job.
The Law Office of Styles and Associates was a tax attorney office. Harry specialized in cases that dealt with trusts, gifts, and various tax planning structures to reduce the burdens of income taxes and estate taxes, and he assisted in devising investment strategies. His undergraduate degree was in accounting, and he minored in pre-law. After that, he went to law school for three years and passed the bar. His father had been a tax attorney as well. Harry liked living the comfortable life he was able to live growing up thanks to his father, and he wanted the same for himself. Plus, he just enjoyed crunching numbers for people, so it was a win-win. Making nearly $150K a year wasn’t too shabby either.
“Hey, H, you ready to go?” John comes into Harry’s office.
“Yeah, just finished up for the day.” Harry stands up, puts his suit jacket back on, grabs his brief case, and heads out. “Kate, feel free to head home, I’m done for the day.” He tells his secretary on his way out.
“Thank you, Mr. Styles, have a nice weekend.” She smiles at him.
“Same to you.” He nods and keeps walking with John. “I feel terrible, she’s pregnant, you know? Her feet are the size of melons by the end of the day.”
“When’s her maternity leave start?” John asks as they enter the elevator.
“Not for a while, she’s only seven months along. She’s been trying to train some college intern to take her place while she’s gone, but no one’s as good as Kate.” Harry rolls her eyes. “Oh well, I’m happy for her. Her and husband have been trying to get pregnant for a while.”
Harry and John make their way to a bar downtown, one of their usual Friday evening spots. They usually met up with some of their other law-school buddies. It was also a great way to blow off steam from the week. Sometimes Harry would end up pulling a 60-hour week, so he thought he deserved to cut loose, and have a little fun with his friends. Maybe meet a pretty girl he could take back to her place and have a whole different kind of fun with her. Harry was a phenomenal attorney, but when it came to his personal life, well, if you looked up the definition of a playboy, his picture would be there. He fucked around, a lot, without a second thought. Actually, his only thought was to make sure he always had a condom. Harry never went bare back. The last thing he needed was someone claiming he was the father of their child, and suing him for child support. The only time he didn’t use a condom was when he was in a legitimate relationship a couple of years back.
He thought about her from time to time. He never met another girl like her, and there were times he really did miss her. The breakup wasn’t anything dramatic, the pair had just grown apart. Harry was in the process of taking over the practice for his father, and she…wasn’t quite ready to settle down. She wanted to work on her own career and make a name for herself. It hurt that she didn’t see him in her vision for the future, but he understood where she was coming from. She was a few years younger than him, and he didn’t want her to resent him for taking away her time to be young and have fun. So they ended it. Since her, he decided to have some fun himself with his friends.
//
Blair got the call right before her second morning class on Wednesday morning. She nearly collapsed on the floor in tears. Everyone rushed over to her. She had to cancel everything for the rest of the week, and her clients were more than understanding.
“How did it happen?” She asks her mother, Pam.
“He had a stroke, and…god, he just didn’t bounce back.” Pam uses a hankie to wipe her tears. “Most of everything should be all set, he was very specific, but…we’re going to need an attorney. Your father’s biggest fear is that his first wife would claim that she has a right to his pension, that she was promised money or something.”
“God, I hate her.” Blair grimaces. “All she’s ever cared about is making him miserable. She just wants money for her son. He’s not even Dad’s!”
“That’s why they got divorced! She cheated on him with his best friend and got knocked up. You can see how sticky this is going to get. I hate to ask, but…”
“I’ll go see him.” Blair sighs.
“I just think he might sympathize, maybe work the case pro bono. I’m not sure we could afford him otherwise.”
“Don’t worry about it, Mum, I’ll talk to him and figure it out. I’m not going to let Lora fuck everything up for you.”
//
Kate nearly choked on her water when she saw Blair walking towards her. She knew Harry had a meeting with a B. Smith. She should have known better.
“B-Blair, hi.” Kate says.
“Kate! Oh my goodness, you look incredible! You and Roger finally-“
“Yeah! I’m due in a couple more months.”
“That’s amazing, I’m so happy for you.” Blair smiles. “Um, I think I set up a meeting through an intern?”
“Yes.” Kate sighs. “I’m training her for when I go on maternity leave. Um, may I ask why you’re here to see Harry?”
“It’s strictly business. My…my father recently passed, and-“
“I’m so sorry.” Kate frowns. “He was always so nice.”
“Yeah, he was a good guy. Anyways, there’s a lot going on with his will and a trust he set up for my mom. Harry’s the only person I could think of when my mom said we’d need an attorney.”
“Of course.” Kate nods. “I’ll let him know you’re here.” Kate knocks on Harry’s door and opens it. “Mr. Styles?”
“Yes?”
“Your 2PM is here.”
“Ah, great.” Harry squints at his screen to check his calendar. “B. Smith? Why does that sound familiar?” He puckers his lips in thought.
“Um…it’s Blair.”
“Blair!” Harry stands up and bangs his knee in the process. “Why didn’t you tell me she was coming?!”
“I didn’t know! Maura answered when she called to set up the appointment.”
“Fuck.” Harry runs a hand through his hair. “How do I look? Is there anything in my teeth?”
“No, you’re fine. Just relax, I’m going to send her in.” Kate leaves his office and smiles at Blair. “He’s ready for you.”
“Thank you, Kate. We should catch up before the baby comes.”
“I’d like that. I miss going to your classes.”
Blair nods and goes into Harry’s office, closing the door behind her.
“Hi, Harry.”
“Hi.” He walks over to her, leaving about a foot of space between them. “To what do I owe the pleasure of seeing you?” Her bottom lip trembles, and his smile fades. “What’s wrong?” He asks softly.
“M…my Dad died.” She says, tears rolling down her cheeks.
“Oh, sweetheart.” He pulls her in for a hug so he can comfort her. “When’s the funeral? You know you could have just called me, you didn’t have to be so formal.”
“Actually, I did.” She sniffles and steps back from him. “I need an attorney, my mom and I do…only…we can’t really afford a good one.”
“Oh.” Harry nods. “Have a seat.” He gestures, and rounds his desk to sit back down in his own seat. “Is this about his ex-wife?”
“Unfortunately.” Blair rolls her eyes, and grabs a tissue off his desk. “My mom is scared she’s going to pull some fake paternity crap with her son, even though everyone knows he’s not my Dad’s. I think my mom just wants to be prepared for the inevitable shit storm Lora’s going to bring.”
“I don’t blame her.” Harry sighs and leans back in his chair. “I…haven’t taken a pro bono case yet this year. I could help that way.”
“Only if you really want to. I’m not asking for a handout, but I don’t trust anyone else to take care of me.” Blair blinks when she realizes what she’s said. “Us, I don’t trust anyone else to take care of us.”
“Right.” He leans forward. “I’d be happy to do it. Um, does your mom want to meet with me, or-“
“I think she’s sort of hoping I’ll take care of all the legal stuff. She’s grieving, you know?”
“So are you.” He frowns.
“You know me, I like to keep busy during these sorts of things. I can get a copy of the will, and the trust information over to you via email if that works, and then we can go from there?”
“Sure, yeah. My email’s still the same, um, and so is my phone number…”
“I still have your phone number.” She rolls her eyes.
“Then why didn’t you call me about this first? Why call and make an appointment?”
“I…I thought if I called…you’d think I was calling for something else.” She blushes. “I wanted you to know it was strictly business.”
“Blair, all you had to say was that your dad died. I could have been there for you. You live alone, all you do is work…your best friend is my cousin…do you and Riley even still talk?”
“Of course we do! Just because we broke up doesn’t mean that she and I did. I met you because of her, I was her friend first. It would be really shitty to stop talking to her because it didn’t work out with you.”
“Okay, Christ, calm down.” He shakes his head. “You’re as hot headed as ever, you know that?”
“I’m sorry, my father just died and I’m trying to keep it together!” Her eyes rim with tears again. “He’s never going to be able to walk down the aisle when I get married, he’s never going to meet his grandchildren, there are so many things…he was too young.” She sniffles.
“How did it happen?”
“He had a stroke, and didn’t recover.” She looks away.
“I’m so sorry.”
“I appreciate that, but that’s not going to being him back, so don’t be sorry. Just…help me with this.”
“I will, there’s no question about it.”
“Thank you, Harry.” She stands up. “I’ll email you.”
“Blair.” Harry stands up. “Look, if you need anything else, don’t be afraid to ask. If you need a friend…I’m here for you.”
“I have plenty of friends.” She sighs. “And no offense, but my friends don’t fuck a ton of women weekend after weekend and treat them like shit.” She smirks.
“I don’t do that.” His face flushes. “I just haven’t met someone I’ve really wanted to continue seeing, that’s all.”
“Harry.” Blair shakes her head as she chuckles. “Not that I ask, but Riley’s told me a few things. You two are close, and when she gets drunk she loves regaling me of your many escapades.”
“I’ll have to send her a very strongly worded text after you leave.” He rolls his eyes.
“Don’t get mad at her, it’s fine. I don’t really care.”
“You don’t?”
“No, why would I? It’s not me you’re fucking, so it doesn’t concern me.” She shrugs. “That’s the beauty of breaking up, Har, I don’t give a shit where you stick your dick at night.”
“Well, obviously you do if you won’t even let me be a friend to you, Blair.”
“I just…I don’t want us getting close again, alright? It’ll hurt when we end up parting way, and I don’t wanna go through that while also grieving my Dad. Can you understand that?”
“Yeah.” He nods. “Don’t worry, we’ll get this all sorted out.” He smiles at her.
“Thank you. I need to go. I told my mom I’d be over to help her pack some things up. She sort of just wants to rip the band aid and put his clothes away.”
“If you need any help at all with any heavy lifting, call me.”
“Harry.” Blair sighs.
“I’ve got that nice SUV, I can help move stuff, that’s all I’m saying.”
“I’ll keep that in mind. I’ll talk to you soon.” She says, and out the door she goes. Kate waits a moment before coming into Harry’s office.
“Scotch?” Kate asks.
“Scotch.” Harry nods, and Kate goes over to his credenza to take out his good crystal and liquor to pour him a small glass.
“You’ll get through this.” She lifts her water bottle to cheers with him, and he downs the brown liquid.
//
Blair was back at work the following week. She needed the distraction. Lora had been eerily quiet. Maybe she didn’t know that Blair’s father passed, but as soon as the obituary hit the papers, she was sure that witch would be out and about to cause some trouble. At the end of Blair’s last Thursday class, she heard the sound of dress shoes on the hard wood. She turns to see Harry.
“You know there’s not supposed to be outside shoes in here. I just mopped.” She puts her hands on her hips and huffs at him.
“Yeah, I’m well aware of the rules. I used to be your best customer, remember?” He smirks. “Anyways, I looked over all the documents, I thought you might like to go over everything with me before the funeral, in case she shows up to cause trouble, you’ll have all the facts.”
“I need to, like, go home and shower…today was an intensive day, I’m soaked.”
“Perfect, I’ve got dinner in the car. We can go there, eat, and go over the documents.” He smiles.
“You’re such a weasel.” She chuckles. “But I’m too tired to argue with you. What did you pick up to eat?” She raises an eyebrow at him.
“Nothing special.” He shrugs. “Just some dumpling curry from that Thai place we both like.”
“I take it back you’re not a weasel, you’re the devil.”
Harry drives over to Blair’s apartment. He didn’t have a key anymore so he had to wait for her. He follows her up to her apartment, and makes himself at home while she goes to take a shower. She hadn’t changed much, but he definitely noticed some different pictures on her bookshelves. They used to be littered with framed photos of them, and she had a ton of scrapbooks for the two of them, but those seemed to be missing now as well. He sighs while he plates up the food for the both of them, and opens up a bottle of wine while he waits. Blair comes out about ten minutes later with her hair wrapped up in a towel, and her long, plush, pink robe around her body. She sits down next to him at the island.
“Wine?” She questions, but picks up the glass to take a sip.
“It’s been a long day, to be honest with you. I’m gonna work from home to catch up on some sleep tomorrow since I don’t have any meetings.”
“You know I have Fridays off, we could have done this tomorrow.” She frowns.
“It’s okay, I figured you’d want everything now. The funeral’s Saturday, isn’t it?”
“Yeah, it is.”
“Eat up, and then we can look at everything.”
“We can do both at the same time.”
“Does your nose still run like a leaky faucet when you eat spicy food?” He smirks, and she rolls her eyes. “That’s what I thought.”
“Thank you for picking this up.” She says as she takes a bite. “I haven’t had this in forever.”
“Me neither…I stopped going because I didn’t want to run into you there.”
“That’s why I stopped going. We should have divided up restaurants when we broke up.” She laughs, and takes another sip of wine. “Do you mind if I dry my hair when we’re done eating? I’ll get a-“
“You’ll get a headache if you don’t, I know the drill.” He takes a sip of his own wine, and eats a spoonful of rice.
“Stop remembering things about me.” She swats a hand at him.
“We were together for long enough, Blair, I can’t help it.”
“Yeah, well, quit throwing it in my face, okay? We’re not doing this to go for a stroll down memory lane.”
Harry knew he’d be waiting at least twenty minutes while Blair dried her hair. He walks around her living room, stretching his legs a bit. He was curious to see what she had filled her bookshelves with. There was a picture of her and Riley from their freshman year of college. Harry picks it up and smiles. Harry was in his first year of law-school when Riley and Blair were college freshmen. He didn’t meet Blair formally until their senior year, and he was in his first year working at his father’s firm. He was helping Riley move in after winter break, and Blair had already been there.
“Blair!” Riley exclaimed. “I missed you so much.” She threw her arms around her.
“I missed you too! I’m glad we both agreed to come back a week early.”
“Same here. This is my cousin, Harry. Harry, this is Blair.”
“It’s nice to meet you.” Harry shook Blair’s hand.
“It’s nice to meet you too.” Her mouth had run dry. They held eye contact for a beat too long. “You’re in law school, right?”
“I finished last year, I’m actually working now. I’m a tax attorney.” He explains. “It’s my dad’s business.”
“And it’s super boring.” Riley rolled her eyes. “Har, could you bring everything in for me? I have a meeting with my advisor that I need to get to. We’re going over my practicum stuff.”
“Sure thing. We’re still getting dinner later, right?”
“Mhm, I shouldn’t be too long. Blair, you don’t mind if Harry hangs here for a bit, do you? You’re also welcome to come to dinner with us.”
“Sure, I don’t have a problem with it.” She shrugged.
“You’re the best. See you in a little while!”
“Is there a lot of stuff? I can help.” Blair said to Harry.
“Not a lot, no. But…I’ve never been here before, so if you could just show me upstairs, that would be great.”
“Yeah.” She nodded.
Harry brought Riley’s suitcase in, and Blair led him upstairs. She showed him Riley’s room.
“Is yours similar?” He asked.
“My room? Um, no…it’s a little different.” She swallowed. “Do you wanna see?”
“I’d love to.” He grinned, and followed her down the hall to her room. “Riley’s told me a lot about you over the years, but she failed to mention how insanely gorgeous you are.” He leaned against her wall after she closed her door.
“Well, she failed to mention how hot her cousin is, but I suppose that would be a weird thing to say about a family member.” She smirked. “How old are you, exactly?’
“I’m about to turn twenty-six, what about you?”
“I’m almost twenty-two…in May.”
“Not a huge age difference.” He walked towards her.
“Not at all.” She looked up at him with big eyes.
“Want me to kiss you?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay, all done.” Blair says, coming out with her all dry and pretty. “What are you doing?”
“Nothing, just saw this old picture of you and Riley.”
“God, we were babies then.” Blair smiles at the photo. “We took that on the day we met at orientation.” She looks at him. “Wanna sit on the couch?”
“Sure.” Harry grabs his briefcase and takes out all of the documents he needed to go over with Blair. “So, as you can see, your father set up a trust for you that you’ll get access to a year after his passing. That’s pretty standard. Your mother has a different sum of money that she’ll be able to access much sooner. There’s absolutely nothing in his will about Lora or her son. Even if she tries to contest it, there’s nothing in here that would indicate he was hiding anything. I looked over their divorce settlement as well, she stopped getting alimony when she remarried. She literally has no case. You and your mum can take a breather.”
“Oh, what a relief! Thank you, Harry. She’ll be able to let herself relax for the first time in a while.”
“Are you going to take any more time off from work?”
“Well, I’m closed Saturday, and I’m off Sunday, and I’m closed Monday as well. Then I’ll be back to it Tuesday.”
“You’re only giving yourself a long weekend?” He frowns.
“Harry, I can’t afford to keep closing. I make enough with the memberships, but I won’t be making the extra I do from the walk-ins.”
“Look, if you need some money-“
“Don’t you dare.” She stands up. “I don’t want your money, Harry, I never have, and I never will. I’m not your goddamn sugar baby!”
“I never said you were!” He says, standing up.
“But you used to make me feel like that all the time! You were always paying for every little thing. You never let me pay for a single thing. It was like you had zero confidence in me, even though I was running a successful business!”
“You were just starting out! All I wanted to do was help you, make it a little easier for you. You’re the one that went to their parents for loan help when I would have done it in a heartbeat! You crushed me.”
“We weren’t even living together, and you were ready to drop that amount of money on me?! That would have been so weird!”
“We were both working odd hours, and we had only been together a few months at that point, moving in would have been weird! A loan is totally different, I would have been investing in something great.”
“Well, I didn’t need your investment! We were together for nearly three years, Harry, what’s your excuse for not living together after all that time, hm?”
“I would have felt guilty. I was never home, I didn’t want you waiting up for me. It was easier when I could just come here and crawl into bed with you after a long day. And you always had to get up so much earlier than me. I thought…I thought it was better that we weren’t living together. You had never lived alone before, I wanted you to enjoy the freedom.”
“Was that it, or did you just want to keep your own?” She huffs, crossing her arms. “You know what, this fight is useless, it doesn’t matter because it’s not going to solve a single fucking thing. Thank you for your help, I really do appreciate it, but now that I know everything’s fine, you can go. If I need anything else from you down the line, I’ll reach out. I’m sure Lora will make a stink, and therefore I’ll need an attorney. But it’s all professional, Harry.”
“You’ve made that plenty clear already, thanks.” Harry packs up his things, and Blair walks him to the door. They look at each other. He just sighs and heads out the door.
Blair would be lying if she said that she didn’t miss Harry. They had a really special bond that was hard to find with just any one. All they did that first day they met was kiss, have a passionate make out, but that was it. Blair didn’t want to go too far with him in case Riley wasn’t comfortable with it. But Riley was overjoyed when Harry asked if she would mind if he asked Blair out on a date. It was a whirlwind from there.
He took her on some of the nicest dates she had ever been on. Most guys would take her out for coffee, maybe a movie if they could scrape the money together, but Harry took Blair out to nice restaurants, and to the movies that had lux levels. Not to mention his condo, god, she loved his condo. He liked that she kept things simple. Crockpot dinners at her place, watching TV curled up in her little full-sized bed, and clipping coupons together on Sunday mornings. That was where they had sex for the first time, in her little bed after their fifth date. He told her he loved her for the first time on the top of a Farris Wheel during the spring carnival her campus held, and she wasted no time saying it back. After that, a deeper trust formed between the two of them. One that not a lot of people would understand. Harry didn’t quite understand it himself since he was usually the one who was a little more dominant in bed, but with Blair…well, needless to say after a long week of working cases, his favorite thing was to come home, find her in his bedroom with some lingerie on, and letting her tie him to the bed posts for a little while. It was a release he didn’t even really know he needed. And with her, having been a college student about ready to graduate and enter the real world, it felt like so many things were out of control. Harry gave her that control back.
Harry wonders if that’s why they breakup seemed so much harder on him than her. It seemed like Blair was able to let go so easily. Yes, he started fucking around afterwards, but he just couldn’t get that same high from anyone else, nor did he trust some random girl at a bar to do the things for him that Blair once did. Blair was just better at hiding her emotions. She missed Harry, she’s missed him for a long time now. She cried for weeks, feeling this undeniable ache in her heart without him around. But, she had her studio to throw herself into, a brand to keep building. It was the perfect distraction, and even though she missed Harry, she didn’t hate being single for the first time in a while. For three years, Harry had been like her security blanket. The way she looked at it, every kid eventually stops sleeping with their security blanket at some point. It was time to be independent.
//
The funeral was a graveside service. It was cloudy, but there wasn’t rain, which was probably the only upside Blair could think of. She was there, sitting next to her mother, other family members in the row behind them. Her mother was holding Blair’s hand, but this is one the few times Blair wished someone was there for her. Just as the service was about to get started, someone sat down next to her. She looks to her right and sees Harry, dressed in black from head to toe. He doesn’t say anything, he just puts his arm around her, and rubs his shoulder. He gives Blair’s mom a soft smile before sitting back in his seat.
“Harry…you weren’t supposed to come until afterwards…” Blair says.
“I know.” He looks at her. “I just wanted to be here for you.”
Harry gave Blair his extra tissues while she cried during the service. He held her the entire time, and stayed back once it was over. Then, he offered to drive Blair and Pam back to Pam’s home. Neither of them were in any condition to drive. There were a lot of people that came back to the house afterwards. Blair was able to calm down a bit, but her mother was really taking it hard.
“We don’t have to do this today.” Harry says to Blair.
“No, we should just rip the band aid. Then she can just…” Blair’s eyes widen when she sees Lora walk through the door. “Oh, you miserable cunt.” She says.
“What?” Harry asks, confused.
“Not you, Lora’s here.” Blair storms over to her. “What are you doing here?”
“Nice to see you too.” Lora smiles. “I’m here to grieve the loss of my first husband.”
“You weren’t at the funeral.”
“I didn’t want to upset anyone.” Lora shrugs. “So…have you read the will yet? I think I should be in on that.”
“Lora.” Pam says when she walks over. “Alright, let’s get this over with.” Pam sighs, and has everyone follow her down the hall to the guest bedroom. Harry takes out the paperwork.
“There’s been-“ He starts, but he’s cut off.
“I’m sorry, but how is it legal if her boyfriend is reading the will?” Lora asks.
“We’re not together anymore. We haven’t been for a while. He’s here as our attorney, that’s it.” Blair says.
“Anyways, been a trust set up for Blair a little down the road. Everything else, including the house, has been left to Pamela Smith. There is no mention of anyone else’s name.”
“That can’t be right.” Lora scoffs. “I was promised-“
“He would have never left you anything.” Pam says. “And I’m sick of dealing with you. He’s gone, he’s left you nothing, you have no ties to us now. It’s clear as day that Derek is not his. He owed you absolutely nothing, you gold digging bitch.” Pam steps closer to Lora. “Now, get out of my house before I have you removed. I buried my husband today, I am in no mood to be fucked with.”
“Fine.” Lora says, turns on her heel and leaves.
“Way to go, Mum.” Blair gives her a high five. “I thought she’d put up more of a fight than that.”
“With your father maybe, but not with me. I’ve ripped her cheap extensions out more than once, and she knows I’ll do it again.” She takes take a deep breath. “I think I’m about ready to be done for the day. I need to lay down.”
“Do you want me to stay tonight?” Blair asks her.
“No, honey, thank you. Auntie Fay is staying, I’ll be alright.” She looks at Harry. “Harry, I can’t thank you enough for helping with all of this.”
“Don’t mention it. If there’s anything else I can do, anything at all, don’t be afraid to ask.”
“Drive Blair home.”
“Mum.”
Pam raises her hands in defense and leaves the room.
“I can drive you back if you want. I took an uber out here as it was.” Harry says, shoving his hands in his pockets.
“You’ve done enough for me today, it’s alright…I can make it back on my own. Riley’s flying back in from Chicago tomorrow and we’re gonna have a girl’s day, so-“
“Blair, I still have your keys in my pocket, I’m driving you.”
“I don’t need you to swoop in here and act like superman, Harry.” Her bottom lip trembles. “I know my dad’s not around to do it anymore, but-“
“Hey.” He takes her in his arms. “I wish I could take it all away, I really do. I wish you weren’t going through all of this, baby.”
“Harry.” She sighs heavily into his chest.
“Sorry.” He rests his chin on the top of her head. “Some habits are hard to break I guess.”
“Have you called anyone else baby in the last year?” She nuzzles in close to him.
“No.” He tilts her chin up to look at him. “I never could.”
“Okay, you can drive me home.” She sighs. “I’m about ready to pass out as it is.”
Blair takes a few minutes to say goodbye to the people still at the house before her and Harry get into her car. He keeps the music volume low, and her eyes start to droop. Harry can’t help but feel soft and warm knowing she was so easily able to fall asleep with him there still. She’d always fall asleep on long car rides.
“Blair.” Harry says, trying to wake her up. “We’re at your place, love.” She groans at him, and he sighs. “Are you really going to make me carry you up?” She groans again and he rolls his eyes. Blair would always pretend to be asleep so Harry would carry her inside. He unbuckles her, gets out, and opens her door to lift her out. “You’re killing me.” He grunts as he carries her to the front door. He keys in, and carries her up the stairs to her door. “I know you’re awake.” He says as he brings her to her bedroom.
“Mm, but you’re so strong and warm.” She mumbles.
“Okay.” He chuckles and lays her on her bed. “Are your pj’s still in the third drawer of your dresser.”
“Harry.” She sits up. “You don’t have to do all that…”
“I was just gonna grab you a shirt and get out of your hair.” He says innocently.
“God, I’m so confused.” She pinches the bridge of her nose.
“About what?” He grabs a bed shirt for her, and sits on the edge of her bed.
“I think I’m just feeling vulnerable, I don’t know.” She looks away from him. “I don’t want you to go.” She mutters, and then looks at him. “But I also don’t want to get your hopes up.”
“If you need me to stay as a friend, I can do that.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, I’d never leave you like this.” He runs a hand through his hair. “I was just gonna pretend to leave, and then crash on your couch.”
“Well, you don’t have to do that. Got a queen sized bed now, plenty of room.”
“I can see that.” He smiles. “There was nothing wrong with your old bed. It was kinda fun when we were practically sleeping on top of each other.”
“Yeah, but your bed was better for…well…never mind.” She clears her throat. “Um, I still have some of your old pajama pants in my drawer, you can wear those if you want.”
“I’m good with just boxers if that’s alright with you.”
“Oh, um sure.” She gets off the bed to stand up. “I’m just gonna go wash up and change.”
Harry nods and gets undressed. He goes over to her bathroom door to wait his turn. Blair’s eyes widen when she sees him standing there in his underwear.
“You don’t have a spare toothbrush, do you?”
“Um, you can use one of the extra heads I have for my electric brush.”
“Thanks.” He steps into the bathroom as she leaves to go back to her bedroom.
“Oh my god.” She says to herself. He had beefed up a bit. Harry was already sort of beefy, but he used to be leaner. Had he been getting a lot of protein? She shakes her head as she crawls into bed. Harry comes in shortly after and gets in on the other side. She turns her head to look at him. “Thank you, Harry.”
“You don’t have to thank me.” He looks at her. “I’d be a pretty shitty person to leave you in a time like this.”
“Yeah, but you could be catching tail at some bar with your friends.” She smirks at him.
“You make me sound like I’m promiscuous or something.” He chuckles and turns fully on his side towards her. She does the same. “It’s a stress reliever, and I always wrap it up. M’not doing anything wrong.”
“Do you, um, do what we used to do with any of these hookups?”
“No.” He smirks. “No, I don’t think I could ever trust someone in that way again even if I tried.” He chews his bottom lip. “What about you?”
“Harry, to be honest with you…I haven’t slept with anyone since we broke up.”
“Blair, that was a year ago.”
“I’m well aware.” She rolls her eyes.
“That’s a long fucking dry spell.”
“It’s not a dry spell, it’s a personal choice. I threw myself into the studio, I worked on choreographing a ton of new dances. I was building my brand, bringing in more clientele. Plus…anytime I’d use a dating app or go out with Riley to a bar…no one was ever you.”
“I know things seemed mutual and we didn’t end in some big blow up…but I was so hurt that we couldn’t make things work.” He reaches to tuck some hair behind her ear. “I thought we were going to be together forever.”
“So did I…but I don’t know if I was ready for something so long-term yet, which I know sounds stupid because three years is a long time to be with someone.”
“It’s not stupid. I would have felt the same at that age. It was sort of selfish of me to try to lock you down the way I was.”
“You weren’t being selfish for wanting to be with me, Harry.”
“You know, the last thing I expected when I helped Riley move in that semester was falling in love with her roommate. You just looked so cute that day.”
“You remember how I looked when we first met?”
“How could I forget? You were wearing these sweater leggings that had snow flakes on them, and you were wearing this oversized sweater that was hanging off your shoulder, and you kept trying to tug it back on. You seemed so flustered around me.”
“I was.” She laughs. “I thought for sure you just wanted to fuck me and then leave with the way you pushed me up against the wall when you kissed me.”
“Yeah, you nearly shit yourself at dinner afterwards. Poor Riley had no idea I frenched you for a solid thirty minutes.”
“My lips were so swollen, she had to have known. I was more in shock when you came by a week later to ask me out. God, you were so cute, you were waiting outside my apartment with hot apple cider, and I had such a shit day at my practicum. I was in dingy sweats too, and you still told me I looked beautiful.”
“And I meant it.”
“Then you said I looked tired, and right before I went off on you, you pulled me inside and said that you were going to make me dinner so I could go upstairs and take a long hot shower.”
“Mhm, made you spaghetti and meatballs.”
“And that really yummy homemade garlic bread.” She smiles.
“Then we cuddled up and watched Ratatouille.” He chuckles.
“I was so mad that you had never seen it! And then you ended up loving it.”
“It’s a great movie, honestly.” He says, smiling at her. “Best first date ever.”
“Yeah, it was. When I went to sleep that night I couldn’t believe that a real man wanted to be with me. I don’t think any of the guys I dated in college knew how to cook.”
“Pretty sure I did a good job making you forget about any other guy you had ever been with.” He smirks, and she nudges his shoulder.
“Maybe…maybe when I’m in a better mindset…we could talk about…I mean…I’ve been thinking about you a lot ever since we started talking again, sorry, I’m rambling.” She sighs. “I don’t want you to think that I wanna give things another shot because you’ve been helping me and my mom, but it’s been hard not to think about it…especially after today.” She blinks away a few tears. “I wasn’t expecting you to come to the service. Riley felt awful that she couldn’t be there, and I felt so alone, even being with my mom. You’re so selfless.” She pouts at him.
“I would love to talk about potentially getting back together. I…I don’t think I realized how much I missed you until you walked into my office. I thought I was out having the time of my life, but I wasn’t. Nobody could ever compare to you.”
“I think I just need some time to make sure I’m not…I’m not just feeling this way because you’re being so sweet to me when no one else is.”
“Take all the time you need.” He strokes her cheek. “M’gonna turn over now. If you just so happen to feel like spooning me, I promise not to question it.”
“Please, snuggling sounds like the perfect medicine after today. Assume the position, Styles.”
He chuckles and rolls onto his other side. Blair slots a leg between his, and wraps her arm around his stomach. They both sigh, and wiggle closer to one another. Blair hadn’t felt peace like this in quite some time, and neither had Harry.
//
Blair woke up in a fog the next morning. Her eyes still felt puffy and swollen from crying, and even though the clock read 10AM, she felt like she could stay in bed for at least two more hours. She remembers Harry staying and falling asleep with her, but he wasn’t there next to her now. Where he laid was still warm, so he couldn’t have left too long ago. When she smells coffee, she wakes up a bit more. There was a coffee cup from Dunkin’ on her side table, along with a small bag that she knew had to be a coffee cake muffin. She sits up and sees a note next to the casual breakfast.
Had to rush off to the office this morning. Got a call that one of my major clients passed, and his family is already fighting over the money. Had to time to run out and get you brekkie though! I’ll call you later. – H
Blair pouts at the note, and takes a sip of her coffee, which had cooled down just enough for her to sip it without burning her tongue. She texts Harry a quick “thank you” before diving into her muffin. This was his signature “sorry for not being there when you wake up” breakfast treat. There had been many mornings Blair had woken up alone after spending the night with him. It wasn’t because Harry liked scooting out, he just usually got pulled away due to something work related, and he knew that Blair liked being able to sleep in when she could on the weekends, especially when she was still in school. She never minded because she knew he was busy. She used to just lounge around for an hour or so in his large bed before getting up and making it. Then she’d take an indulgent bath in his Jacuzzi-tub. He’d usually get back to her sometime in the afternoon, and they would snuggle up to watch a movie before he brought her back to her apartment. It worked for them.
There were plenty of times Blair had to scoot early as well. When she was doing her practicum, she needed to be at the high school no later than 7AM, which sucked because at the time she was a major night owl. It’s taken her years of discipline to get herself to fall asleep at a reasonable time so she wouldn’t be so groggy and grumpy in the morning. That was something that Harry helped with as well. He told her about this sleepy time playlist on Spotify that he would listen to on the nights he needed to go to bed early. Blair had told him she couldn’t afford the premium membership and she didn’t want to be jolted awake by ads. So what did Harry do? He bought the subscription plan that allowed for two people to be on it, helped her shift her account, and even though she protested, he insisted. The music sounded like something a masseuse would put on, and it always put her right to sleep. Harry was a genius, at least Blair thought so.
“How do you always have an answer for everything?” She had cried to him on a particularly stressful evening. It was after she graduated, and she had just gotten her business up and running. She felt overwhelmed and scared. “You always stay so calm, it’s like you don’t even care!”
“I just know that this’ll pass, baby. You just graduated from college, you’re going through a major life change. You’ve had the same routine all your life, and now it’s completely different. In a few months things won’t feel as scary.” He smiled at her, and wrapped his arms around her mid-section. “Went through the same thing myself not too long ago. I promise, it gets a lot better. Your early twenties fucking suck.”
“Yeah? How are things looking in the world of mid to late twenties?” She pouted up at him.
“Well,” he moved some hair away from her face, “I’ve got an incredible girlfriend who loves me, and I just so happen to love her, and I’m feeling settled in mt job, and I have a great place to live, and oh! Finally stopped having stress dreams about missing a big exam. Can’t complain too much.”
“I…I’m gonna be really busy at the studio. I have to choreograph all these dances, and start advertising, and-“
“Hey, I’ve got an idea.” He tugged her along down the hall to his home office.
“Harry, I’m not in the mood to fuck in your office…” She said, and Harry chuckled.
“As much as I love it when you let me bend you over my desk, that’s not what this is about.” He took her inside and took out a few sheets of blank paper and some pens. He sat down and pulled her into her lap. “Alright, this used to help me all the time when I was super stressed, still does, actually.” She watched as he drew three large circles, and wrote CHOREOGRAPHY in one, SOCIAL MEDIA, in another, and BUDGET
in the last. “Alright, so these are some rather large cookies, wouldn’t you say?” He looked up at her, and she looked down at him and nodded. “Okay, so what are some ways we can take little bites out of these?”
“Like a checklist for each?”
“Sort of, yeah.” He drew a few stems from each circle. “Almost like a backwards flow chart.”
“Is this what you do with your clients when they ask for financial advice?”
“Sometimes.” He nodded. “But more importantly, I want to help my girlfriend who is insanely frazzled. I hate when people try to be problem solvers…so hope you don’t think that’s what I’m trying to do…”
“No.” She shook her head. “This is great. I think if I have it all laid out in front of me…and can check certain things off…take smaller bites, like you said, I can handle things better.” She grabbed a pen and started writing, and making more stems, color coding a few of them. “My parents are gonna help cover the loan payments for the first year so I can save up, and start paying off my student loans.” She chewed her bottom lip. “And I can set aside some time in the mornings to do the social media stuff, and use the afternoons for choreography…evenings I can work on my website.”
“Just think of how sweet it’ll all taste by the time you finish.” He smiled up at her, and she leaned in to peck his lips.
“I love you, Harry, thank you.”
“I love you too, baby.” He kissed her again, ever so tenderly and soft. “Don’t let this stuff build up, you know you can talk to me about anything.”
“I just feel like my problems are so trivial, like, there are people that are starving, and I’m crying about being overwhelmed.”
“Your feelings are valid, don’t compare it to what someone else might be going through.”
“Do you think, um, could you just hold me for a bit?” It was so rare for Blair to be this vulnerable. Usually she was the one to hold Harry, but once in a while she just really needed him.
“Of course.” He shifted in his seat to cradle her to his chest. He was so warm and inviting, he always made Blair feel safe.
Blair sighs, and shakes herself from the memory. She couldn’t bask in the good times and act as if there weren’t also bad times. Although…there really weren’t that many bad times. She finishes up her muffin and gets out of bed. She grimaced when she saw herself in her bathroom mirror, and decided a long, hot shower would do her some good. She didn’t have the energy to wash her hair, so she grabs a scrunchie to put it up in a bun on the top of her head. As the warm water cascades over her body, she can’t help but continue to let her mind wander to other old memories.
“Harry! I told you I’d be five minutes.” Blair whispered to Harry as he entered the bathroom. He locked the door behind him and smirked. “Riley’s home! Just down the hall sleeping.” Harry pulled back the shower door, and walked into it with her. All he did was put a finger up to his lips.
“Then we’ll need to be quiet.” He whispered to her, ghosting his lips over hers.
“I…I’ve never had sex in the shower before. I always heard it wasn’t as cracked up as it looks in the movies.”
“That’s because people try too hard to do it full on.” He stepped into the water, getting his hair wet, and then moves her so she’s pressed up against the wall. He knelt in front of her, and looked up at her wet body. “Can I make you feel good, baby?”
“Y-yes.”
He grinned, and lifted one of her legs over his shoulder.
“Now, you need to stay quiet.” He pressed his lips to one of her hip bones, and kissed across her pelvis. “So, if it gets to be too much, just suck on your fingers or something, pull my hair, whatever you need to do.” She watched as his eyes darkened when he licked over her clit. His tongue moved to her slit and licked up. He moaned, letting his eyes flutter closed before looking back up at her. “You have no idea how fucking good you taste.”
“Blair!” Riley exclaims as she comes into the apartment. Blair’s taken from her thoughts just as she was whimpering out Harry’s name.
“I’m in the shower!” Blair yells back, and finishes cleaning herself up. She meets Riley out in the living room once she’s thrown some sweats on. “Hi.”
“Oh, god, I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there.” Riley wraps her arms around her friend.
“You couldn’t have known.” Blair hugs her back. “A month in Chicago, I can’t wait to hear all about it.” They let go of each other.
“Are you sure you wanna talk about all that?”
“Yeah, I need the distraction.”
“Alright. I brought coffee and doughnuts.” Riley smiles.
“Thank you, but I might save that for later. I had coffee and a muffin earlier…um, Harry spent the night last night.” Blair blushes as they both move to sit on the couch.
“Holy shit! Pleas don’t tell me you called him for a booty call.” Riley frowns.
“No, it was nothing like that. I told you he was helping with all of the legal stuff…he ended up coming to the funeral unannounced. He was there for me…he drove me home and I asked him to stay. We just slept, and he was gone before I woke up because of a work thing.”
“Ah, and he brought you the old comfort breakfast to make up for it.” Riley shakes her head. “Well, I’m glad he was there for you. I always hoped you would become friends at some point after you broke up.”
“I don’t think I realized how much I missed him. I’ve been so independent for the last year, it felt kind of nice to lean on him for a change.”
“Do you think you wanna get back together?”
“I don’t know…I was definitely feeling something yesterday, even this morning, but I don’t know if it’s because I’m just sad and vulnerable, or if it’s because I really wanna give it a second go. I don’t really know what would be different this time. He still works crazy hours, and-“
“He’s dialed back a lot.” Riley cuts him off. “Ever since he’s taken over, and once he really got settled into it, he hasn’t been working himself to the bone like he was. Are there still some sixty-hour weeks? Sometimes, but not like he was, I swear.”
“He didn’t seem to think we still spoke…so that made me think you weren’t as close with him…”
“I don’t hang out with him as much…I speak with his friend John quite a bit, though.” Riley blushes.
“Speak to or fuck?” Blair smirks.
“Don’t. If Harry knew I was messing around with one of his boys, god, I don’t even wanna think about it.”
“Oh, so he can go out with your friend, but you can’t go out with his?”
“John and I aren’t going out. We just…meet up to fuck sometimes, but we both still hookup with other people. I mean, I’m sure he slept with his share of people while I was away.”
“Did you?”
“There were a couple of people I let take me back to my hotel, yeah.” Riley nods. “Don’t say anything to Harry, okay?”
“Christ, I’m not his best friend all of a sudden. I think I was just emotional last night. I doubt we’ll even-“
There’s a jingle of keys, and then Harry’s entering the apartment. He freezes when he sees Riley.
“Hey! You’re back.” He smiles at his cousin. “How was Chicago?”
“Windy.” Riley says. “But fun, I made a ton of sales.”
“That’s great.” Harry sets the keys on the kitchen counter and then comes further into the living area. “How are you this morning?” He asks Blair.
“I’m okay, um, thanks for breakfast.”
“Yeah, of course, sorry I had to skip out. Uh, I just came back to see how you were, but I can see your girl’s day has started, so I’ll head out.”
“You can stay, Har, we were just gonna paint our nails, nothing you haven’t done with us before.” Riley says. “You don’t mind, right, Blair?”
“S-sure, you can stay, Harry…if you want to.”
“I’d love to stay.” He comes over and sits down on Blair’s other side. “Nothing like giving you a Styles sandwich to make you feel better.” He smirks. “Alright, Riles, what colors did you bring?”
The three ended up having a great day together. It felt like old times. They painted their nails, ordered Chinese, and watched Mystic Pizza. Riley was starting to get tired, so she left around six. The jet lag was catching up with her. So it was just Harry and Blair sitting on the couch watching Wall-E.
“Do you remember the first time we watched this?” Harry asks her a few minutes in.
“Mhm.” Blair smiles without looking at him. “It was that weekend we went away Hampton Beach, and it rained in the evening, so instead of being annoyed, we got all cozy and watched this.”
“After…” He looks at her, a smirk growing on his face.
“Harry.” She rolls her eyes.
“Come on, what did we do just before settling in to watch this adorable film?”
Blair sighs, but gives in, “We made hot fudge sundaes, and, um, I let you lay me on the counter and lick chocolate sauce and whipped cream off my body.” She swallows. “Then I did the same to you. We made a mess of the Air BnB.”
“We cleaned it up. Then we got into that big, comfy bed and just vegged out. Think this is one of my favorite Pixar films that you showed me.”
“You really liked Cars too.” Blair chuckles.
“Yeah, I did. That was a good one.” Harry leans back on the couch, crossing his arms behind his head.
“You don’t need to do this, you know?”
“Do what, love?” He says without looking at her, eyes focused on the screen.
“Babysit me.” She mutters.
“S’not what I’m doing.” He scoffs. “I’m enjoying spending time with you, Blair.” He looks at her. “And I’m worried about you, but I’m not babysitting you.” He puts his hand on her knee and gives it a squeeze before taking it away. “Just relax, yeah?”
“Thanks.” She pauses for a moment. “Harry…would you be taking care of me like this if you had a new girlfriend?” Her eyes start to well up with tears. “Because-“
“Why are you asking a what if like that?” He reaches to wipe her tears with his thumbs. “At the risk of sounding totally lame…I was sort of just waiting on you. Sort of hoping you’d wanna get back together at some point. I tried dating, but it’s like I told you…no one was ever you.”
“So you just kept fucking strangers?” She was so confused.
“It was all meaningless. I figured if you were out there living your life, then I should do the same.” He shrugs.
“Harry, I know you think we broke up because you thought I needed time to be young or whatever, but I wasn’t out there fucking a ton of different people. I just…I don’t know, I wanted to be on my own.”
“And I understood that, as much as it upset me. What was I going to do, beg you to stay my girlfriend?” He moves a bit closer to her. “If we were to get back together, what would you want to be different? Obviously things stopped working…”
“It’s not that they stopped working, I just…I think I just grew up a little bit. You gave me plenty of room for it, but I just sort of realized that there were other things I wanted to do and I didn’t wanna be totally tied down. If we were to get back together, I wouldn’t want you paying for things all the time, or thinking you need to fix all of my problems. Sometimes I just want someone to listen without making suggestions, you know?”
“I didn’t even realize I was doing that.” He runs a hand through his hair and sighs. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, I know you always meant well, and you were just trying to help in your own way.” She gives him a reassuring smile. “It didn’t always bother me, but sometimes it did. I wasn’t perfect either, I know how closed off I could get.” She furrows her brows. “I’ve been trying to work on that. I added the yoga into my routines…so that’s been helping. You sort of inspired that.”
“I should start my membership back up.”
“Yeah…it would be nice to see you in class again.”
“Remember when I started coming on Tuesday evenings, and then we’d go to the Thai place for dinner afterwards?”
“Mhm, and then you’d take us back to your place, and set up a bath for us.” She sighs dreamily. “And then you’d massage my calves for me, ugh, I always loved that.”
“Couldn’t have my baby being sore the next morning, could I?” He pouts playfully at her, and she giggles.
“You were always so good to me.” Her face was only a few inches from his now.
“Fucking worshiped you.” His lips ghost over hers, and she whimpers.
“Kiss me, Harry.”
His lips slot over hers immediately, and cups her cheeks to pull her even closer. He sucks on her bottom lip, and she whimpers again. Blair tugs on Harry’s shirt, and then pushes his back to the couch. She moves to straddle him, and he wraps his arms around her body. They’re both grabbing at different parts of one another, and she shifts so she’s only straddling one of his thighs, rolling her hips down onto it. Harry groans, and starts kissing on her neck. She gets a fist full of his hair, and yanks his head back.
“Harry, I don’t think this is a good idea.” She admits. “I mean…we haven’t agreed to anything. I think we should take this slow, don’t you?”
“You just told me to kiss you, and then you climbed into my lap.” He smirks, and she starts laughing.
“Yeah.” She grips his chin with her other hand. “You’re always good at doing exactly what I say.”
“Always.” He agrees. “If you’re not planning on having your way with me then you should get off. You’re only gonna rile me up, and I’ve not done anything to deserve that.”
“No, I suppose you deserve a reward instead of a punishment.” She presses her forehead to his and lets her hands fall to his shoulders. She sighs heavily and then looks at him again. “I need a little more time. I wanna make sure that this really makes sense. The last thing I wanna do is hurt you again.”
“I don’t want you to feel hurt either.” He squeezes her hips. “I wanna give you the time, Blair, but you’ve also had a year to sort your feelings. You either wanna do this or you don’t.”
“I really hate it when you’re right.” She huffs. “But I know what you’re saying.”
“How about this…why don’t we go out Saturday night? We could go on a date, and see how it feels.”
“Why not Friday?”
“Because you work early on Saturday mornings, darling, and you’re just going to be getting back to it again.” He tucks some hair behind her hear. “Can’t have you being sleepy.”
“You’re so sweet.” She smiles. “Okay, yeah, I’d like that. Um, did you want to just go out for dinner?”
“If that’s what you wanna do, baby. I’m down for whatever.”
“I haven’t been to that grill we used to go to all the time in forever. Feel like I could go for a really good burger.”
“Alright, we’ll go to Benson’s. I’ll pick you up around six, how’s that sound?”
“I think it sounds like a date.”

On Wednesday evening, much to Blair’s surprise, Harry walked into one of her evening classes with Riley. Riley had a cheeky smile on her face, and Blair just shook her head at the two of them. It had been ages since Harry had been to one of her classes, and he had picked a yoga day.
“Good evening, everyone!” Blair says once everyone gets there. “We’re gonna start off with our warm up, and then get in to it. We’ll work a little with the weights, and then we’ll cool down with the yoga like always. Does everyone have their weights?” She hears a collective yes. “Alright!” She hops up onto the small stage and gets the music playing.
When the class is over, a few people hang back to talk to Blair. Riley would usually grab a quick bite with her after class. A guy was talking to her now.
“Hey, who is that?” Harry asks Riley as they clean up their stations.
“Hm? Oh, that’s Rich, he has a thing for Blair.” Riley rolls her eyes. “He refuses to take a hint. The second he found out she was single he was all over her. She’s nice to him, but she doesn’t like him back.”
Harry narrows his eyes, and reads Blair’s body language like a book. Her arms were crossed, and she was casually trying to step away from Rich.
“I’ll get him to leave her alone.” Harry says.
“Harry, don’t.” Riley grabs his wrist. “She can handle herself.”
“I know she can, but she looks so uncomfortable. What if they were left alone here, and he tried something. He needs to know she has some backup.” Harry walks over to the two, and Blair can’t help but smirk because she knows exactly why Harry’s walking over. “Hey, sorry to interrupt, but we should get going if we want to make trivia night.”
“Right! Yeah, sorry, Rich, I need to get the studio cleaned up so I can head out.” Blair was thankful. Harry was always good at coming up with excuses for them to leave places early. Usually it was because he needed to get her home so she could fuck him, obviously now that wasn’t the case.
“Oh…alright, well, I’ll see you next week. Have a good night.” Rich looks Harry up and down before leaving.
“Thank you.” Blair sighs. “He’s a nice guy, but I’m not interested.”
“Obviously.” Harry scoffs. “Have fun with Riley.”
“You don’t wanna come with?”
“Nah, I need to get home. I have some stuff I need to do before tomorrow. Still on for Saturday?”
“Mhm.” She nods with a smile.
“Good.” He kisses her cheek. “I’ll call you Friday.”
Harry leaves and Riley helps Blair cleanup before they head out to a Panera for dinner.
“So, you two are going out on Saturday?” Riley asks her when they sit down with their food.
“Yeah, it’s sort of like a first date. I wanna make sure things feel really right with us. I have a feeling we’ll get back together officially, though.”
“Yeah? What makes you think that?” Riley smirks.
“Well…we kissed on Sunday night when he was still over. It was a really good kiss too, it was familiar, but there was still that, like, passion, you know?”
“I would love it if you got back together. I never really liked the other people he dated, and I was so excited when you both got together. He’s like the brother I never had, and I want him with someone that really cares about him. I never doubted that with you. You guys got together at a weird time in your life where you were sort of at different places. Now…well, now you might mesh better. You grew up a lot during the time you were together, I know that was tough on you both.”
“Yeah, it was.” Blair sighs, and bites into her piece of bread. “I feel like I could handle things better now. He’s been there for me during so many tough times, he’s seen me…at my absolute worst, and still loved me through all of it. I can’t wrap my head around him turning into such a playboy.”
“I couldn’t believe it myself, but I honestly don’t think he really knew how to deal with not having you around, and then…I don’t know.” Riley shakes her head. “He always wrapped it up, that’s what John told me, anyways.”
“He mentioned that to me too.” Blair rolls her eyes. “I’m not going to hold anything against him, we weren’t together. I don’t have the right to judge him about it.”
“He only wanted you, B.” Riley smiles.
“I really have missed him.” Blair smiles. “I’m really looking forward to going out with him Saturday night.” She bites her bottom lip. “Wanna come with me to Victoria’s Secret during the day? I think I should pick out something new…”
“Yeah! I’ve got a coupon to go there, actually. I need some new undies.”
“Oh, yay! We haven’t been shopping in forever.”
“I know! I hope I’m not on the road for an entire month like that again. It got old real quick.”
//
On Friday, Harry was in his office wrapping some things up, going over some paperwork. Then he looked over his calendar for Monday, just to see what meetings he had, and if he needed to do anything over the weekend.
“Mr. Styles?” Kiley, the intern training with Kate comes into his office.
“Miss Stewart, what can I do you for?” He asks, giving her his full attention. She pouts slightly at him.
“You can just call me Kiley…you call Kate by her first name.”
“I’ve known Kate for quite some time, Miss Stewart.”
“Well, we’ll get to know each other pretty well once she’s on maternity…right?”
“Most likely.” He nods. “Did you need something?”
“Yes, sorry.” She pulls a paper out of her bag. “Um, I just need you to sign off on the hours I worked this week since Kate left early. I forgot to ask her before she stepped out for her doctor’s appointment.”
“Oh, sure.” He gestures for the paper. “They’re really on you guys about the hours, huh?”
“Yeah.” She sighs. “I don’t mind, though, because I have to write a paper explaining what I did, so having an account of that will be helpful.” She shrugs. Harry hums his response as he signs the paper and hands it back to her. “Thank you…any fun plans for the weekend?”
“Just laying low tonight. I’ve got a date tomorrow, though.” He smiles.
“Oh! That’s nice.” She smiles. “Did you just meet someone?”
“No.” He shakes his head with a chuckle. “Might be starting over with my ex, which I’m pretty excited about since I’m still hopelessly in love with her.”
“Well in that case, I hope it goes super well.” She beams at him.
“Thank you, Kiley.” Her smile widens at him even more. “Feel free to head out, enjoy your weekend.”
“Thank you, Mr. Styles. I expect a full report of your date on Monday morning.”
Harry chuckles and nods as she leaves. Just when he thought his door was going to close, John enters.
“Wrap it buddy boy, we gotta meet the guys soon.”
“About that…I’m going to skip out on tonight.”
“Seriously? Why?” John frowns.
“I…I have a date tomorrow night with Blair, and-“
“You can’t be serious.” John rolls his eyes and sits down. “Why would you even entertain the idea of getting back together with her?”
“Because she seems ready for a relationship again. I still love her, and I think she still loves me. There’s still a chemistry between us, physically, so we’re going to Benson’s for a burger tomorrow to see if everything else is still there.”
“So that means you can’t come out for guy’s night?”
“You know as well as I do that guy’s night never stays guy’s night. I don’t want to be tempted by anything that could fuck me over. Besides, it wouldn’t kill me to stay in for a change. There’s a book I’ve been meaning to get back to. I wouldn’t mind just taking it easy, you guys have a good time without me.” Harry smiles at his friend. “It’s nothing personal…”
“I know.” John sighs. “You’re just fun, that’s all…” John looks down at his phone and smirks.
“Maybe you’ll meet up with that girl you see on the regular. Seems like she just texted you.”
“Maybe she did.” John nods.
“How come you don’t just date her? I’ve watched you turn down other girls to go meet up with her a dozen times.”
“It’s a little complicated. She travels a lot for work, we’re both just looking for someone familiar to hookup with right now.”
“Guess that makes sense.” Harry shrugs. “You’re pretty busy yourself”
“Exactly, so when’s around I see her more, and when she’s gone, I see other people. She does the same. We’re pretty open about it.”
“Good.” Harry smiles. “Have a beer for me tonight, yeah?”
“Alright.” John sighs and stands up. “Have fun with Blair, I guess.”
“You could sound a little more enthused.”
“I’ll be enthused if she doesn’t string you along.”
“She never strung me along.” Harry shakes his head. “We were a great team.”
“Seems like you were always doing everything for her.”
“No, she did plenty for me.”
“Babe?! I picked up a pizza!” Blair shouted as she entered Harry’s place, putting her key in the bowl by the door. “Baby?!” He wasn’t in the kitchen like she thought he’d be. She set the pizza down on the counter and walked down the hall to his home office. Her jaw dropped when she saw him knuckling at his eyes. “Harry, are you crying?” She asked softly.
“Blair.” He said, almost surprised. “Hi, I lost track of time, I’m sorry. Let’s eat.” He stood up, but she went over to him and urged him to sit.
“What happened, what’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing, baby.”
“It’s not nothing if you’re crying. Talk to me.”
“I’m just really stressed.” His voice cracked. “I was looking forward to taking over for my dad, but there’s so much other shit that’s been added to my plate that he didn’t really prepare me for. Now he’s down in Florida living it up with my mum, and I can’t even talk to him about it because I don’t want him to be disappointed in me. He’s trusting me with everything.”
“That’s a lot.” She wipes=d his tears away. “I’m so sorry you’re feeling like this.” She chewed on her bottom lip. “Is…is there anything I can do to help? Anything I can do to help take your mind off things for a bit? I brought pizza…”
“Um…yeah, I think there is something you could do for me, but it doesn’t involve food.” He stood and took her hand, leading her out to the living room. They both sat down. “Sometimes when we’re having sex…I let you take the lead, have you noticed that?”
“A little.” She shrugged. “I mean, I like that you’re not super dominating, it makes me feel safe.”
“Right, but before you I wasn’t really like that. I was always in control, but with you…I feel really safe too. So safe…that I’m able to just let everything else slip away when we’re doing what we do.”
“What are you saying exactly?”
“I…I sometimes I think I want you to really be in control. I’m not saying all the time, but I have to be in control of so many things, and I think it would be nice to not.”
“Okay, so I could ride you more if you want.”
“Well, that would be nice.” He smirked. “But I’m talking more like…like maybe you could blindfold me once in a while, or you could cuff me to the bed?” His was flushed with embarrassment. Her eyes widened as she finally started to understand what he was trying to say. “I’ve totally freaked you out, haven’t I? I know that stuff isn’t for everyone. I was just thinking we’ve been together a while now-“
“Harry, calm down.” She smiled, squeezing his hand. “I think it’s kind of hot that you wanna explore some different things.”
“You do?”
“Mhm.” She nodded. “I…just don’t ask me to, like, whip you or anything. I don’t think I could hurt you.”
“No, I’m not looking for pain.” He chuckled. “I just…wanna clear my head sometimes, that’s all.”
“Okay, I think I could be into that. You know how much I love all your ties, I’d love to tie you up with them.” She grinned, and he groaned softly.
“What do you say we leave the pizza for later, and we head into the bedroom to explore a little bit?”
“I say we’re in for a fantastic weekend.”
“Whatever you say man.” John says. “See you Monday.” John leaves Harry’s office, and Harry sighs. He never told anyone about what he and Blair did, it was no one’s business. He certainly wasn’t going to let it slip now.
//
At around 10AM Saturday morning, Blair picked up Riley so they could go shopping. Riley had bags under her eyes, and a fresh hickey on her neck. Blair’s mouth fell open the second Riley got in the car.
“Don’t.” Riley mumbles.
“I didn’t say anything.” Blair chuckles.
“But I know what you’re thinking.”
“Did you meet up with John last night?”
“Yeah, I guess Harry didn’t feel like going out last night, so I met up with him at some bar, and then he came back with me to my place.”
“Oh shit, is still there?”
“No, he left at, like, seven.” Riley rolls her eyes. “But not before he fucked me again.” She shakes her head. “We’ve fucked so many times, I don’t know how he’s not sick of me yet, or how I’m not sick of him.”
“Maybe it’s a sign you two should be more.” Blair smirks.
“I mean, we’re basically just in an open relationship, that’s the way I look at it anyways.” She shrugs. “We were up most of the night.” She yawns loudly.
“You could have stayed home.” Blair frowns as she keeps her eyes on the road.
“No, it’s okay, I wanted to go shopping with you.”
The girls make their way to a Victoria’s Secret, and start shopping around. Just as Riley hoped, there was an underwear sale. Blair indulged in it as well. Nothing wrong with getting some new undies to replace some old ones.
“Oh, these are cute!” Blair says, holding up a cheeky pair of panties.
“Yeah! I’ve been way more into the lace cheeky bottoms instead of thongs lately.”
“Me too! It’s way more comfortable. To be honest, I wear boxers a lot around my apartment. They’re more breathable than athletic shorts, and they don’t ride up.”
“Of course men have more comfortable underwear than us.” Riley sighs heavily. “Oh! Look at these white ones! Can never have too many white pairs.”
“Snag me a pair, please.”
Once the girls are done picking out their underwear, and a couple of bras that were two $50 (yes, way overpriced, but necessary), they head to the part of the store where the lingerie was.
“What are you looking for exactly?” Riley asks as she looks over some babydoll nighties.
“I don’t know, nothing crazy, but if things go well tonight, which I think they will, I wanna surprise him with something fun.”
“You’d really jump into bed with him right away?” There was no judgement in Riley’s voice, more so surprise.
“I mean…I know he’s your cousin and all, but he’s pretty hard to resist, Riles. He had me wrapped around his finger from the second we met.”
“Fair enough.” Riley shrugs. “I might try one of these on…surprise John one of these nights.”
The girls giggle as they pick out different things. Blair ends up finding a black lace bralette and matching panties that she thinks will work well under an outfit. The only thing was the bralette didn’t have any support, like, at all, but she was able to adjust the straps on it a bit to give her a slight lift.
“God, I wish I danced as a kid.” Blair huffs as she leaves the dressing room to meet Riley out at the register line.
“Why?”
“Because then maybe I wouldn’t have these fucking honkers on my chest. I’d love to be able to wear a bralette without worrying. My boobs are so saggy, I look like a granny when I don’t have the proper support.”
“You’re being dramatic.” Riley chuckles.
“Easy for you to say, Miss B Cup.”
“Hey, I’d kill to have boobs like yours. I always feel like mine are too small. I have to wear pushups all the time. Besides, your boobs are not saggy, they just sit a little lower on your chest.”
“When I really started dancing I thought they’d get smaller since I was working out all the time, but nope. The worst part is, it’s all right here.” She lifts her arm slightly and rubs just under her armpit. “I’m only a C, but I feel like a double D sometimes when I put a bra on, it takes all the side boob to the front.” Blair puts her things up on the counter, and Riley goes to the next register.
“Find everything okay?” The girl behind the register asks.
“Mhm.” Blair smiles. “I have some coupons too.” She takes her phone out so the girl can scan the barcodes on Blair’s screen.
“Oh, that’s a good one! Took off 25% of your total.” The girl puts everything into a bag for Blair, and she heads out with Riley.
“So, when will John get to see that babydoll?” Blair smirks at Riley.
“When I feel like he deserves it.” Riley grins. “If he invites me over tonight, I might bring it with me.”
“Do you usually see him two nights in a row?”
“Sometimes, but not often. I think he missed me a little since I was gone for so long. Kinda missed him too. He told me he’d call me later today.” She shrugs.
The girls grab a quick lunch before heading home. Blair didn’t want to eat anything too heavy since she was going to be eating out for dinner, so she just had a salad. She spent some time doing some social media work for her business, and then spent some time putting a new dance together. Her customers had been asking for some more throwbacks, so she was crafting some choreography to a couple of Ricky Martin songs. They could be used for the high intensity days. She always recorded herself so she could go back later to review the steps.
When she was done she was drenched in sweat, so she hops into the shower to freshen up. She sort of ends up pampering herself a bit. She shaved her legs, so she massaged some lotion into them, and used some cocoa butter on her thighs because she liked the way it smelled. After that, she grabbed her electric razor to trip her bikini line, having exfoliated first in the shower, so she was plenty smooth where she wanted to be. She spritzes some perfume into the air and walks through it, then she gets to work on her hair. She had been sporting a shoulder length look lately. Her hair used to be really long in college, but in recent years she had been keeping it a tad shorter. It was up in a braid or bun most days, but she decides to wear it down tonight. She puts on some makeup, and then goes through her closet to find something to wear over her new lingerie. She decides on a pair of black jeans that could easily be word with some booties. She pulls on a blush pink tank top and a tan cardigan to complete the look. You could just see the lace top of the bralette, and she sort of liked that look. Her phone goes off just as she’s putting some lipstick on.
“Hello?” She answers brightly.
“Hey, baby, I’m downstairs.”
“Okay, be down in a sec!” She throws some makeup remover wipes into her bag, and a spare toothbrush, then she heads out. Again, she didn’t quite know what would happen tonight, but she wanted to be prepared. Harry was standing outside his car. He smiles when he sees her.
“Hi.” He says, and opens the car door for her.
“Hi, thanks.” She smiles back and gets inside. They head towards Benson’s, being silent in the car at first. “How was your week?” She asks him.
“Good, had a pretty good workout Wednesday.” He grins, looking at her for a moment before looking back at the road. It makes Blair giggle. “Work wasn’t too stressful for a change, although I’m getting anxious about Kate going on maternity leave.”
“Is the intern no good?”
“No, she just doesn’t have a lot of experience. She’ll get the hang of it.” He shrugs. “How was your week, how are you feeling?”
“I’m okay. I spoke with my mom last night, she’s doing alright. My aunt’s been staying with her, so that’s good.”
“Do you think she’ll sell the house?”
“Nah, she likes where she lives, but I think she’s going to paint and change a few things so it doesn’t feel like such a ghost town, you know?”
“Makes sense.” Harry nods. “I know I’ve offered a ton, but if she needs any help with anything, don’t be afraid to ask. I can hold my own with a paintbrush.”
“Thank you, Harry, that’s very sweet.” She gives his shoulder a squeeze. “It was really nice having you in class Wednesday.” She says shyly.
“Yeah? Would you be opposed if I started coming regularly again?”
“Not at all, I’d really like it, actually.” She smiles. “It…it made it easier to wait to see you tonight.” She blushes, and he reaches for one of her hands. He brings it to his lips to kiss her knuckles.
“You’re cute.” He tells her, resting their hands on the console, not letting go at all.
They get to Benson’s, and get seated in a booth. Harry hesitates for a moment, desperately wanting to sit next to her, but he thinks that might be too much too soon, so he sits across from her. She gives him a funny look.
“What?” He asks.
“Nothing…you’re just far away. You usually sit next to me.”
“I didn’t know if you wanted me to.”
“I want you to.” Harry smiles, stands back up, and slides in next to her. She hooks her arms around his and rests her cheek on his shoulder. “Much better.” She sighs. He kisses the top of her head, and a waitress comes over.
“Evening, folks, are you expecting anyone else?” She asks.
“No, love, it’s just us.” Harry says to her, squinting at her nametag. “Becky, is it?”
“Y-yes.” She clears her throat. “Can I get you started with any drinks or appetizers?”
“Definitely two waters.” Blair begins. “And I’ll have a vodka-tonic, please.”
“I’ll have the same.” Harry says. “Do you want an app?” He asks Blair.
“No, I think just the burger will be good.”
“Right, think we’re ready to order dinner.” Harry says to Becky.
“Great! What can I get you?”
“I’ll have the turkey burger with cheddar cheese and sautéed mushrooms.” Blair says.
“And I’ll have veggie burger with avocado.” Harry says.
“Sounds good, I’ll be right back with your drinks.” Becky says, taking their menus before walking away.
“Just a veggie burger?” Blair asks Harry.
“Yeah, I’ve been craving a good one lately, and they make the best here.”
“Very true.” She nods. Becky comes back over with the drinks, and sets them on the table. “So…do anything fun last night?”
“I stayed in.” Harry says, before taking a sip of his drink. “Got caught up on a book I’ve been reading, watched a little TV, nothing special.”
“I’m surprised you didn’t go out with your friends. Isn’t Friday usually your guy’s night?”
“Yeah, I just felt like skipping last night.” He shrugs. “What about you, what did you do?”
“I ran errands all day, and then went to bed early so I could get up for my early classes this morning. Then Riley and I went shopping, and then I did some work at my place. Got ready to go out with you.” She shrugs.
“What does Riley have to say about all this?”
“She’s happy that we’re entertaining the idea of getting back together.” Blair chuckles and sips her drink. “Did you tell anyone we were going out tonight?”
“Mentioned it to my intern…and to John. He wasn’t so enthused.” Harry rolls his eyes.
“He’s never liked me, and I literally have no idea why.”
“Think he was just jealous that I snagged someone as gorgeous and bright as you.” Harry grins. “You know, when we first got together a ton of people gave me shit because you were still in school.”
“I was in my last semester, and I was twenty-one, it wasn’t like I was a child.” Blair scoffs.
“That’s what I said! It wasn’t like I was looking for someone younger than me, it just happened.”
“We just clicked right away, nothing wrong with that.” She inches a little closer to him, her ankle hooking around his under the table.
“Not at all.” His lips graze over hers, but their food is brought over to the table before they can really kiss.
They both giggle and dig into their food, each moaning out at the taste. They continue to talk about things, catching each other on the last year that they weren’t in one another’s lives. It felt easy and natural.
“I don’t wanna be too forward, but would you like to come back to mine when we’re done?” Harry asks.
“I’d like that.” She nods. “Got any sweets at home?”
“Mhm, I’ve got those chewy chocolate chip cookies you like so much.”
“This night just keeps getting better and better.” She smiles. When the check comes, they both reach for it.
“Blair, let go of the check.”
“No, I wanna pay for dinner.”
“I insist, let me pay.”
“Harry, I don’t want you always paying for everything, come on.”
“Fine, can we at least split it?”
“Ugh, fine.” She slaps her card down and so does he.
“So fucking irritating when you do that.” He huffs.
“No, what’s irritating is that you think I can’t pay for stuff.”
“That’s not what this is! I just like paying for our dates, it’s gentlemanly.”
“Yeah, well, it makes me feel like shit.” Becky comes to grabs the cards, and tells them she’ll be right back. “I’m doing well for myself now, I want things to be more equal. I’m not with you for your money.”
“I know you’re not, baby…I just…I can’t help that I wanna spoil you rotten.” He presses his forehead to hers, and she sighs before pecking his lips quickly.
“There are plenty of other ways you can do that, Harry.”
“Am I gonna have the chance?” Becky comes back with their cards, and they both sign their slips before sliding out of the booth. She takes his hand in hers as they walk out.
“Yes.” She says as they both get into the car. “I…I think wanna see where this goes with you, babe. I feel like I’m really ready for you now…”
“That means the world to me, Blair.” Her bottom lip starts to quiver, and he frowns. “Hey, why are you crying?” He reaches to caress her cheek.
“I just can’t believe you basically were waiting for me all this time.” She sniffles. “I feel so shitty. And I feel even shittier because I’m jealous of all the other people you slept with that we weren’t together.”
“Baby.” Harry sighs. “I was so in love with you, still am, none of them meant anything. I’m sorry you feel hurt by it. You don’t need to worry about it now, though, I’m all yours.” Her hand grips the collar of his shirt and she tugs him close to her, only a few centimeters apart.
“Mine.” She says, eyes darkening before her lips crash against his. She nips and sucks at his bottom lip as his hands cup her cheeks, trying to get even closer.
“Fuck.” He breathes, putting his keys in the ignition. “Need to get you home.” He pulls onto the street, and zips them home. His hand grips her thigh the entire time, squeezing it occasionally.
“Thought of you last weekend in the shower.” She says, shifting on her side a little. “Thought of the first time we had sex in the shower.” Her breath is on his ear now, and she nibbles on his lobe.
“Blair.” He warns, but she keeps going, kissing on his neck.
“Made me feel so good, always make me feel good.”
“Blair, I’m going to crash the car, just sit patiently, please.” She sits back normally in her seat. “Thank you.” He sighs. “So, you really thought of me?”
“It was hard not to with you leaving me breakfast.” She pouts at him. “So sweet of you, and I haven’t had a chance to even reward you for being so good to me.”
“You’re still into all that?” He asks cautiously.
“Only for you…do you still like it?”
“Only if it’s you. I told you I didn’t do that with anyone else.”
“You still trust me enough?”
“Course I do, baby.” He reaches for her hand to intertwine their fingers. He drives a little faster to his place, and they finally reach it. “Gonna take care of you first, and then you can do me, alright?”
“Whatever you want, babe.”
They get up to his place, somehow keeping their hands to themselves in the elevator. Before she knows it, Harry’s slamming Blair against the wall of his front hallway, attacking her neck with his lips.
“Gonna mark you up.” He says as he sucks on her skin. “Then everyone will know you’re taken again.”
She whimpers as her response, and pushes his head further into her neck. She wiggles out of her cardigan, and wraps her arms around his neck.
“Jump.” He grunts into her ear, and she does so, wrapping her legs around his waist so he can carry her to his bedroom. He sets her down on the bed, letting her get her shoes off. He does the same before kneeing onto the bed. She takes her tank top off, and his mouth waters at the sight of the bralette. “Christ.” He breathes as he gropes her supple breasts. “Missed these.” He sucks on her nipple through the lace, and her head rolls back. He does the same to the other one, getting it nice and pebbled. One of his hands slides down between her legs and he whimpers. “Need to get these off you, that okay?”
“Mhm, yeah, please.”
He undoes her button and zipper, yanking the jeans off of her. His eyes widen when he sees the matching panties.
“Jesus fucking Christ, Blair. Are these new?”
“Yeah, bought them today, just for you.” She props herself up on her elbows. “Wouldn’t mind you taking them off, though.”
Harry nearly growls as he tugs them down her legs. His hands slide up and down her smooth skin, having missed the feeling of her skin on his. He spreads her legs apart, and starts leaving open mouthed kisses on her inner thighs, sucking some nasty bruises into them. Blair clutches at his blankets and grits her teeth while he has his fun marking her up.
“Can I?” He asks, looking up at her. “Can I taste you?”
“Yes, of course you can.” She reaches forward to push his hair back, and he smiles at her before licking up her slit.
He licks and sucks all around her folds before working his tongue around her clit, sucking on it briefly before bringing his thumb to it. He licks into her center, making her mewl as he essentially just makes out sloppily with the area.
“Yes, fuck.” Her hands rake through his hair. “Feels so good, Harry.” She grinds against his face, and he moans against her. “Harry, fingers, please, use your fingers.” She whines.
He lifts his head from her, and reaches his hand up to her so she can suck on his fingers. She does so happily, and then he slips two fingers inside her. She gasps and lets her body go slack against the bed.
“Baby, shit, you’re so fucking tight, does it hurt?”
“No, feels so god, m’so wet.”
“I know, you’re dripping.” He pulls his fingers out and sucks on them, moaning again before slipping them back inside to the knuckle.
“R-right there.” She whimpers. Her mouth was open, body writhing under his, having not been touched by another man in almost a year, her body was reacting on overdrive. Her back was arching, and she was pushing her head further into the mattress. “Harry, Harry!” She screams as she comes around his fingers, and he fucks her through it, sucking on her clit to prolong it. As she starts to come down he sits up, and starts taking his shirt off. “Fuck, I’m gonna give it to you so good.” She sits up and watches he takes his clothes off. She takes her bralette off, and tosses it on the floor.
“How do you want me?”
“That depends…um…what would you like me to do? Like, how…how hard do you wanna go tonight?”
“I wanna be able to touch you since it’s been so long, and I wanna be able to look at you.”
“Alright, so we can just keep it sweet and easy, save the rest for another time.”
“Yeah…work back up to it.”
“Get on your back, m’gonna ride you.”
Harry gets himself situated, sitting up against the headboard. Blair raises an eyebrow at him.
“Just wanna be as close as possible tonight, baby.”
“Okay.” She smiles, and gets herself on his lap.
“Are you still on the pill?”
“Mhm, are you okay to not use a condom?”
“Definitely don’t want to. Need feel you.”
“Need to feel you too.”
She grips his hard cock, giving it a few pumps before she guides it inside herself. Her mouth falls open as she feels him stretch her out. Harry looks down and watches as she swallows him whole. They both moan out once he’s full inside her. Her fingernails dig into his shoulders as she gets adjusted to him. His hands squeeze at her hips and ass.
“Shit, Harry.” She presses her forehead to his. “Missed you so much.”
“Missed you too.” He cups her cheeks and kisses her as she starts to slowly rock on and off him. His tongue slips into her mouth, and she grips at his back as she kisses him back. “You feel so fucking good.” He says before biting her bottom lip, sucking on it.
She whimpers and moves herself a little faster on him. She grinds herself against him, feeling the friction on her clit start to form. His arms wrap around her back, his fingers digging into her skin.
“Move with me.” She says into his ear before nibbling on it.
He groans as he starts to thrust up into her. She starts to bounce up and down him, moving his hands to her hips. He watches as her breasts bounce in front of his face, and he leans in to kiss and suck on them. Her head rolls back with pleasure. She wanted to feel his tongue all over her. She brings two fingers to his mouth, and he takes them in quickly. He looks up at her as he sucks on them, swirling his tongue around them, and nipping at the pads of them. She takes them away to rub at her clit.
He growls, and moves to pin her on her back, surprising her completely. He was never like this in bed with her. She looks up at him with wide eyes as he throws one of her legs over his shoulder, and replaces her fingers with his own. She groans at his touch. He was driving himself in so much deeper and she could barely handle it.
“Okay?” He asks her, panting slightly.
“Mhm, it’s good, so good.” One of her hands goes to the back of his neck, pulling him down for a sloppy kiss. They breathe each other in and out once they both start panting. “Harry, fuck, I’m so close.” She squeezes around him and he bites down on her shoulder.
“Blair.” He moans into her ear. “Can I come inside you?”
“Yes! Fuck, yes, please!” She screams as she’s coming again, feeling even more turned on when she feels Harry’s hot come start to fill her up. She grinds her hips towards his trying to make her orgasm last as long as possible. “Love it when you fill me up, feels so good.” She says as she continues to squeeze around him.
He slots his mouth over hers as they both start to come down. Their tongues mold together as they kiss lazily. He’s slow to pull out, but he was too sensitive to stay inside her any longer. She squeezes her legs closed to try to not make a mess. Harry scoops Blair up quickly bridal style to carry her to the bathroom, setting her down gently on the toilet, and leaving her to do her business. When she walks out of the bathroom, he’s laying on his bed in a fresh pair of boxers with a dreamy smile on his face. She climbs onto the bed and lays in between his legs, resting her head on his tummy. She buries her face into his soft skin while he starts to card through her mussed up hair.
“So…we’re really back together?” He asks after a few moment of peaceful silence. She looks up at him with a smile on her face.
“Yeah, I really wanna be your girlfriend again.”
“You have no idea how happy I feel right now.” He continues to play with her hair as she sets her head back down.
“You’ve never really taken control like that before…I kinda liked it.” She peers up at him again, grinning. “Maybe I should see what being the sub feels like sometime.”
“Oh, baby, I don’t know if I could switch like that. Don’t think I’d get much pleasure in making you wait for things. Think I’d give in the second you asked for something.” He chuckles.
“You’re so cute, Harry, but I understand what you’re saying. I don’t mind being the one to do that stuff when you really need it, babe.” She moves further up his body so she can be closer to his face. “Do you think in a bit when you’re ready to go again we could…bring out some of your ties?”
“Feel like I’m already bloating back up, fuck.” He groans, and kisses her.
“You know what I’ve really missed doing with you?” She says, moving her lips to the shell of his ear.
“What, baby?”
“Fucking that tight hole of yours.” She says lowly, and he whimpers.
“Yes.” He breathes, and she looks at him. “Still have everything, it just hasn’t been used in a while.”
“Would you really wanna get into all of that tonight? I mean, I’m game if you are…you seemed hesitant before.”
“I just wanted to feel really close with you before, but now that we’ve got that out of our system I’m definitely up for it.” He pecks her lips. “We’ve got the rest of the weekend to do all we want.”
“Mmm, and the weekend after that, and the weekend after that, and maybe sometimes during the middle of the week. Oh! Remember when I used to come to your office at work, and I’d let you bend me over your desk, god, that was always so hot.”
“Or that time we screwed in that bathroom at your studio?” His smile was incredibly mischievous.
“Or the times you sit me up on the counter in your kitchen and fuck me?”
“Or the time you bent me over my own desk her here?”
“I think it’s time we make some new memories.” She says, getting off of him, and extending her hand out to him for him to follow.
“Couldn’t agree with you more.”
Blair leads them inside Harry’s walk in closet where he kept his box of toys. It was still in the same spot as always. She pops the lid off and they both smile at each other.
“How long do you think I could edge you for?” She asks him.
“Um, I should be okay to go for a while since I already came.”
“Excellent.” She picks up a cock ring, the kind that vibrates. “We’ve got a lot of time to make up for.”

I had been trying to distract myself all week after the little incident with Sy. Yes, I had declared it as a little incident, and I had been avoiding talking about it. Which, obviously, failed since I didn’t show up for the Friday night dinner at the pub, so my phone had exploded with texts from Brianna, Holly and even the guys. I assured them I was fine and I just had a headache.
Brianna and Holly didn’t buy it and they came to visit me on Saturday. They tried to tell me Sy didn’t meant what he said, that he just had misphrased his words. I really wanted to believe them, but the self-doubt in me wouldn’t allow it.
The week passed slowly, I kept myself busy with work and chores. On Thursday I had literally finished all my work for the week, so Brianna insisted I’d take a day off from work the day after.
“Seriously Kathy, you are going to take a day off tomorrow. Relax a bit. Talk to Sy. Clear the air,” Brianna said as I walked inside her office for no reason for the fifth time that day.
“Fine, I will take a day off, but I will not talk to Sy,” I answered and sat down in a chair in front of her desk. But maybe I should? He has been texting me every day. Maybe I should hear him out?
“Look, if you don’t talk to him tomorrow, I will make sure it happens this weekend. And I’ll be there. I doubt you want to discuss your feelings for him with me next to you,” Brianna smirked. The minx.
“You’re threatening me now?” I laughed but I knew she was dead serious. “Maybe, maybe I will talk to him tomorrow, okay?”
“It is not a yes, yet, but I’ll do for now.”
Soon after our conversation ended, we both went home. Feeling restless, I spend my Thursday night cleaning the house. That did mean I had the entire Friday to do nothing, to relax and sleep in. Well, that’s what I thought.
I woke up to the loud ringing of my doorbell. Confused I sat up, I wasn’t expecting anyone. Slowly I walked to the front door, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. I unlocked and opened the door to see a large man in front of me.
“What are you doing here?” I asked Sy.
“Good morning darlin’, Brianna told me ya had a day off so I thought we could have breakfast,” he said and held up a basket filled with different kinds of bread, fruit, and other delicious food.
Even more confused I kept staring at him. He cocked his eyebrow and gestured me to let him in.
“Oh, yeah sorry, come in,” I muttered and let him walk past me. Suddenly I realized I was in my pyjamas, a cami top and shorts. It was a little revealing, but since I grew up with him, he had seen me in my bikini multiple times, so I didn’t care.
I watched Sy march into my kitchen and unloading the basket on the small table. He stood with his back to me, and I nearly drooled. That ass is illegal. Really fucking illegal. That back also. God, it just begs me to leave scratch marks with my fingernails on it.
Sy coughed and I realized I had been staring a little too obvious. Feeling my cheeks heat up, I walked towards him.
“Having breakfast is nice, but why on earth did you have to show up this early?” I pointed at the clock on the wall.
“It’s not early. It is already 8.30am,” Sy said and pulled out a chair for me. I sat down, and his fingers grazed my shoulders softly.
“That’s early. Especially on a day off. I’m allowed to sleep until 10am, at least.” I yawned excessively and watched Sy sat down opposite of me. He chuckled and poured me a cup of coffee. “You even brought coffee?”
“Figured ya needed it, to wake up,” he said and poured a cup for himself too. I took a sip, and it was delicious. Immediately I felt a little more awake, and a bit more aware of how I looked. I placed the cup down again and tried to fix my hair the best I could.
Sy had started eating, so I did too. We ate in silence, and I tried to make eye contact with him, but he kept looking away.
“Sy, why are you here?” I asked after we finished eating. I hated arguing, but I hated not expressing emotions even more. Kind of ironic, I know.
“Well, I think this not speaking to me thing of ya has lasted long enough,” he started. “So, I thought we could talk about it. And since ya let me in, and haven’t scratched out my eyes, I think ya wanna talk too.”
I took the last sip of my coffee and pushed a piece of pineapple around on my plate. “Yeah, I guess.”
“Good,” Sy said softly. His eyes met mine and for a second, I thought I saw he was a bit scared. What the hell are you scared of?
“Okay, maybe I have overreacted a bit. Maybe,” I whispered.
“And I should have phrased my words differently. I like being around ya and I prefer your company over everyone else’s.” He grabbed my hands and held them tight. My heart skipped a few beats and a smile formed on my face.
“I like being around you too captain,” I smiled. “But maybe don’t phrase your words like that again, okay?” He squeezed my hands one more time and let them go again.
“I’ll try my best darlin’,” he winked. Well, he tried to wink. I snorted out loud and nearly knocked the coffee cup off the table.
“You’re really doing this on purpose now don’t you?” I said and wiped a tear away that was rolling down my cheek. “You’re really so stubborn you’re not going to admit you can’t wink?”
“Be careful darlin’, you’re quite stubborn yourself,” he laughed and stood up to clear the table. I helped him and together we placed the dirty dishes in the dishwasher.
“So, what are ya plans for today?” Sy asked while he was leaning against the counter.
“I don’t have plans honestly, you?”
“I was planning on helping my momma in the garden. Ya wanna help?” he said. I thought I could sense an undertone of uncertainty, but it was gone the second the sentence was over. Spending the day with you. In the garden. While you’re probably going to sweat. Oh god what if he takes his shirt off. Kat, keep it together.
“Yes, of course! I just need to get dressed, I’ll be back in a second,” I said and started to walk away but turned around as I heard Sy speak up.
“No need darlin’, ya could wear this,” Sy smirked.
“Very funny captain.” I shook my head and walked out of the kitchen, but before I was out of the room, I looked over my shoulder. I caught Sy looking at my ass and licking his lips. Quickly I looked in front of me again and walked to my bedroom, giggling. Please tell me I am not just seeing what I want to see. He really checked me out right?
I quickly freshened up and got dressed. I wore a pair of jeans that accentuated my ass even better. If he’s gonna stare at it, might put them of their best display.
Sy was waiting for me on the couch, he stood up as soon as I walked in the room. He smiled at me and followed me to the front door. I locked up behind us and he guided me to this truck. Sy opened the door for me, and gratefully I climbed in.
During the short drive to his parents’ house, we talked like nothing had happened. I was happy about it; I wasn’t one to keep hanging on to the past. Soon, he parked the car in front of the house. We stepped out, only to meet his parents.
“Kathy! Sweety, how lovely to see you!” Sy’s mother said and gave me a kiss on my cheek.
“It’s really nice to see you too!” I said and nodded at Sy’s father. You could easily tell they were Sy’s parents. He had his mother’s eyes and nose, while he had his father’s physique.
“I would love to chat with you, but we are on our way to meet some friends. We will catch up soon, okay?” Sy’s mother continued.
“I thought we were gonna work in the garden?” Sy asked, and I could see the visible confusion on his face. I might be crazy but are his parents trying to set us up now too?
“Yes, but Jane called if we would like to have lunch. Who are we to decline such a lovely offer? But you and Kathy could work in the garden!” she said, and I noticed Sy’s father walk towards his car. Was he laughing?
“Come sweetheart, let’s go,” Sy’s father said and held the car door open for his wife. She gave Sy a kiss on the cheek and stepped in the car. Sy’s father did so too and started the car. Before he drove off, Sy’s mother opened her window. “Have fun you two!” she yelled and winked at us. Definitely trying to set us up.
“At least your mom can wink,” I deadpanned.
“Oh, shut up,” Sy groaned, and I laughed out loud. He turned around and walked around the house to the garden, I followed close behind.
“So, what do we need to do captain?” I asked Sy as we walked into the large garden. Most of it covered with grass, the areas on the outside were filled with different types of flowers and plants.
“We need to remove the weeds between the plants and flowers,” Sy said and walked into the little shed to collect some tools for us to use.
Tumblr media
After an hour of working hard, pulling out weeds, I started to get a little tired. Sy and I didn’t talk much while we worked side by side. I did look at him from time to time. I watched his big arms pulling the weeds out effortless and I noticed he had started to sweat a little. The sight of it made me nearly faint. Sy also let out a few grunts every now and then. Are you trying to make me jump you Sy?
“You want something to drink?” I asked Sy as I was starting to get a bit thirsty. Not only thirsty for something to drink though.
“Yeah, thanks darlin’,” he answered and wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand.
I nodded and stood up. I proceeded to walk to Sy’s cabin, which was practically hidden in the far back of the garden between trees. I wasn’t even three steps away from Sy when I stepped on an uneven patch of grass. My ankle twisted and before I knew it, I was on the ground.
“Ouch!” I murmured and grabbed my ankle.
“What did ya do?” Sy said as he kneeled beside me. He placed one of his hands on my shoulder and looked at me worried.
“Just sprained my ankle, it’s no big deal,” I said. Sy held out his hand for me and helped me get up. I hissed in pain when I tried to stand on the sprained ankle.
“Yeah, right, no big deal uh?” Suddenly Sy lifted me up bridal style, and I let out a squeal.
“Sy, what are you doing?!” I clasped my arms around his neck, worried for a second, he might drop me, but then I remembered he was more than capable of carrying me.
He didn’t answer me, he just placed me on one of the lounge chairs and walked inside his parents’ house to grab a pillow from the couch. In mere seconds he returned and placed the pillow under my sprained ankle. He had also bought back two bottles of water and handed me one.
“Ya stay here and let that ankle rest for a bit. I might not be able to wink, but you can’t walk apparently,” he mocked.
I laughed and watched him walk away, to finish our work in the garden. While sipping from my water I admired him. His shirt now sticking to his body from the sweat, accentuating his physique even more. That man sweating and grunting above me? I might not survive that. Not that I would complain though. Maybe we should start with a kiss. Oh my god I wanna kiss him so badly. Is he licking his lips? Sy don’t fucking tease me.
After 30 minutes of me obviously checking out Sy, he stopped working. I guessed he was finished. His eyes locked with mine and we both smiled. He walked over to me, and I sat up a bit straighter.
“How’s that ankle doing?” he asked.
“Oh, it’s alright. It doesn’t hurt so much anymore.”
“How can ya know when ya haven’t stood on it since it happened?” Sy cocked his eyebrow. He did have a point, but I wasn’t one to admit I was in pain.
Sy held his hand out for me, I took it and he helped me stand up. Once I stood on both feet again, it was obvious my ankle still hurt.
“Ya are clearly not in pain anymore,” Sy pointed out and chuckled. “Come on, I’ll wrap it for ya. I have an emergency kit in my cabin.” Next thing I knew I was in his arms again, bridal style.
“Sy! You know I can walk!” I yelped and wrapped my arms around his sweaty neck. “Also, you’re sweaty.”
“Ya can’t walk with that ankle. And don’t pretend ya mind I’m a bit sweaty darlin’, I saw ya staring at me.” I felt my cheeks burn and was lost for words for a moment.
Sy carried me inside his cabin, he even managed to open the door while still carrying me. He walked inside his bedroom and placed me on his huge bed. He went into his bathroom and returned with the emergency kit.
“Come here,” Sy said and kneeled in front of me, placing my foot on his knee. He carefully started wrapping my ankle with a bandage. His large hands managed to make my foot look small in his hand, and I let out a giggle.
A few minutes later he was done. He stood up again and pointed at my jeans. They had grass stains on it from my fall. “If ya want, ya could wear some of my sweats,” he offered.
“Very nice offer captain, but in case you haven’t noticed, my ass won’t fit into those,” I smirked.
“Yeah right, I have a big ass too,” he huffed and turned his back to me to wiggle his ass.
“Oh, you do, you really do. But mine is still bigger,” I laughed. Sy shook his head and a playful smile formed on his face.
“I wouldn’t mind helping ya change into my sweats though, maybe they’ll fit with my help,” Sy smirked.
“You’re just trying to get me out of my pants or what?” I laughed. I could tell he wanted to say something, but he shook his head again and grabbed to emergency kit. He walked inside the bathroom, leaving me alone on the bed.
I reached down to touch my ankle. He had wrapped it nicely. I was about to retrieve my hand when I bumped into something underneath the bed. Curious about what it was, I grabbed it. It was a box I had never seen before. I hesitated to look inside, but then the lid popped open. My letters were inside. The letters I had send him while he was away. He kept my letters? Underneath is bed?
A cough caught my attention, and I saw Sy standing awkwardly in front of me.
“You kept my letters?” I asked him, still a bit surprised.
“Yeah, I did.”
“Why?”
“Because I like them. I like reading them. They are kinda comforting,” he said and scratched the back of his head. I could tell he was a bit uncomfortable. “I sometimes read them before I go to sleep,” Sy continued.
“That is really sweet Sy,” I said and stood up. Quickly his hand grabbed my elbow, to make sure I wouldn’t have to stand on my sprained ankle. His eyes locked with mine, and suddenly my heart was beating faster than ever before.
We stood in front of each other, unsure of what to say next. Awkwardly, I looked at the ground until he lifted my chin up with his finger.
“You know what? Fuck it. Kat, darlin’, would ya like to go on a date with me?”
Tumblr media
The whole week was dreadful. Ever since Friday I felt like an idiot, and everyone told me so. Friday night dinner at the pub was not she same without her. As soon as I had finished my meal, I went home. I had hoped she would’ve showed up so we could talk it out. Unfortunately, she didn’t. Kat also didn’t answer my calls or messages. I hated texting, but I tried it anyway.
Working with the guys had been quite annoying the last few days. They used every opportunity to call me out of my actions and told me I just had to go see Kat. They thought she would talk to me if I’d just show up. I had thought about it, and Tuesday late in the afternoon I drove to her house. I waited in my truck but when she came home, I could tell by her movements she was not in the mood to talk. Sighing, I drove back home.
Now, on Thursday, I was starting to get fed up with Kat still ignoring me. I promised myself I would go see her tonight. That was until I got a call.
“Brianna?” I answered the phone.
“Sy, hi. Thank god you picked up,” Brianna spoke.
“Why wouldn’t I pick up?”
“You never pick up, but never mind. The reason I’m calling is Kat, obviously,” she continued.
“Is she alright?” I asked.
“She is fine but could do better. That is actually why I’m calling. I think it is time you two talk this thing out.”
“I’ve been trying, but she wouldn’t answer my calls or texts. I’m gonna go over tonight.” I mean, I should, right?
“Good! You definitely should go see her. You know how stubborn she can be,” Brianna laughed. “But I just tried to talk some sense into her, and I think she is ready to talk to you. She is taking the day off tomorrow, so maybe you could see her then?”
“Yeah sure. Thanks for calling Bri.” After we said goodbye, I hung up the phone. Guess it’s better if I go see her tomorrow, maybe we could spend the day together?
The next morning, I woke up early, really early. I twisted and turned in bed, but I couldn’t sleep again. I wanted to see Kat and talk it out. She couldn’t stay mad forever, right? With a groan I climbed out of bed and took a shower. While I was showering, an idea popped up in my head. Maybe I could surprise her with breakfast?
Satisfied with my plan, I quickly got dressed and went into the kitchen to search for breakfast food. I opened the fridge, and noticed it was nearly empty. Shit. Luckily, I knew I could find everything I needed in my momma’s kitchen.
A few minutes later I stood in the kitchen in my parents’ house, a small perk of living in the cabin in the garden. Hopefully, I would have a house of my own soon. I better make this right with Kat if I wanna buy a house with her.
“What are you doing honey?” I heard my mom’s voice behind me while I had collected a nice pile of food.
“Uhm, grabbing breakfast,” I answered.
“That’s a lot of food for one person, even for you. Spill it,” she said with a stern voice.
Knowing my mom, I knew she would keep me here until I told her the truth. “Made a mistake, so I’m gonna make it right.” She simply raised her eyebrow as she handed me a basket to place the food in. “Fine, I need to make something right with Kat.”
“Ah, I see. Well, you better make it right indeed if you ever intend on marrying her,” she spoke while she helped me fill the basket. “I like that girl, and so do you honey. Don’t mess it up with her, would you?”
After a monologue from my mom why I had to make it right with Kat, I finally managed to leave the house and drive to Kat’s after I promised to help her in the garden later that day. A little nervous I parked the car in front of Kat’s house. I stepped out and grabbed the basket, slowly I walked to her front door. What if she doesn’t want to see me?
I rang the doorbell and knocked on her door. Well, I don’t care if she doesn’t wanna see me, we are gonna talk this out right now. If she wants or not. The door opened, and a very sleepy Kat appeared in front of me. She looked adorable while she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes.
“What are you doing here?” she asked me.
“Good morning darlin’, Brianna told me ya had a day off so I thought we could have breakfast,” I said and held up the basket filled with different kinds of bread, fruit, and other delicious food. Confused she started at me, I cocked my eyebrow and she stepped aside to let me in.
“Oh, yeah sorry, come in,” she muttered, and I walked past her. She was in her pyjamas, a little cami top and shorts. Ya teasing me on purpose? I tried to not stare at her cleavage too much as I was passing her. I wanted to take her in my arms, and let my hands wander over her body. To prevent myself from grabbing her right there, I walked into the kitchen and unloaded the basket on her little table.
After I was done, I turned around and saw her eyes were glued to my back. With a simple cough, I gained her attention again and she walked up to me. Was she checking me out?
“Having breakfast is nice, but why on earth did you have to show up this early?” Kat pointed at the clock on the wall.
“It’s not early. It is already 8.30am,” I said and pulled out a chair for her. She sat down, and I couldn’t resist to touch her shoulders softly. Just let me place kisses all over ya soft skin darlin’.
“That’s early. Especially on a day off. I’m allowed to sleep until 10am, at least.” She yawned excessively. I chuckled and sat down opposite of her. I grabbed the thermos and poured her a cup of coffee. “You even brought coffee?”
“Figured ya needed it, to wake up,” I said and poured a cup for myself too. We both started eating, in silence. I could tell she was looking for eye contact, but I wasn’t quite sure of what to say yet, so I kept avoiding it.
“Sy, why are you here?” she asked after we finished eating. Well, here we go.
“Well, I think this not speaking to me thing of ya has lasted long enough,” I started. “So, I thought we could talk about it. And since ya let me in, and haven’t scratched out my eyes, I think ya wanna talk too.”
She took the last sip of her coffee and played with a piece of fruit on her plate. “Yeah, I guess.”
“Good,” I whispered. Do I tell her what I feel now? Or are we gonna play pretend for a little longer?
“Okay, maybe I have overreacted a bit. Maybe,” she whispered.
“And I should have phrased my words differently. I like being around ya and I prefer your company over everyone else’s.” I grabbed her hands and held them tight. Her large hands felt good in mine, like a perfect fit. A smile formed on her face. Okay playing pretend for a little while longer it is. I didn’t want to ruin something when I wasn’t sure she felt the same, but I wasn’t sure for how long I could keep this up.
“I like being around you too captain,” she smiled. “But maybe don’t phrase your words like that again, okay?” I squeezed her hands one more time and let them go again.
“I’ll try my best darlin’,” I winked, well knowing I couldn’t. I knew she would laugh about it. and I was right, she snorted out loud and nearly knocked the coffee cup off the table.
“You’re really doing this on purpose now don’t you?” she said and wiped a tear away that was rolling down her cheek. “You’re really so stubborn you’re not going to admit you can’t wink?”
“Be careful darlin’, you’re quite stubborn yourself,” I laughed and stood up to clear the table. She helped me and together we placed the dirty dishes in the dishwasher.
“So, what are ya plans for today?” I asked while leaning against the counter. Ya better have none.
“I don’t have plans honestly, you?”
“I was planning on helping my momma in the garden. Ya wanna help?” I asked. I wasn’t sure if she would want to help, but I just wanted to spend time with her without it being forced or feel awkward.
“Yes, of course! I just need to get dressed, I’ll be back in a second,” she said and started to walk away. Get dressed? Ya better don’t wear more than this. I’d prefer ya clothes on the floor.
“No need darlin’, ya could wear this,” I smirked. A little teasing wouldn’t hurt, would it?
“Very funny captain.” She shook her head and walked out of the kitchen. I watched her walk away, admiring her ass and thinking about how I’d want to slap it. Wait, did she just saw me staring at her ass? Oh, who cares. She has a nice ass, so I am obliged to look at it.
I waited on her couch, and a few moments later she returned. She wore a tight pair of jeans, hugging her figure and making her behind look even better. Her ass would look better naked though.
She smiled at me as I stood up and followed her to the front door. She locked up, and we walked to my truck. I opened the door for her and helped her get in.
While chatting, I drove home. It felt like nothing ever happened, which I was glad about. After a couple of minutes, I parked the car in front of the house. I immediately saw my mom and dad come out of the house. Oh no.
“Kathy! Sweety, how lovely to see you!” My mom said and gave Kat a kiss on her cheek. She better not embarrass me in front of Kat.
“It’s really nice to see you too!” Kat answered and gave my dad a nod. My parents had always liked Kat, and they had told me many times. At one point, I thought my mom would force me to marry her. Not that I would mind marrying her.
“I would love to chat with you, but we are on our way to meet some friends. We will catch up soon, okay?” my mom continued. They did not have any plans today. Are they trying to set us up now too?
“I thought we were gonna work in the garden?” I asked confused.
“Yes, but Jane called if we would like to have lunch. Who are we to decline such a lovely offer? But you and Kathy could work in the garden!” she said, and I noticed my dad walk towards his car. Was he trying to supress a laugh?
“Come sweetheart, let’s go,” my dad said to my mom and held the car door open for her. She gave me a kiss on the cheek and stepped in the car. My father started the car and wanted to drive off, but my mom opened the window before he could. “Have fun you two!” she yelled and winked at us. Oh, come on.
“At least your mom can wink,” Kat deadpanned.
“Oh, shut up,” I groaned, and Kat laughed out loud. I turned around and walked around the house to the garden, Kat followed close behind.
“So, what do we need to do captain?” she asked me as we walked into the large garden. Most of it covered with grass, the areas on the outside were filled with different types of flowers and plants my mother had planted over the years.
“We need to remove the weeds between the plants and flowers,” I said and walked into the little shed to collect some tools for us to use.
Tumblr media
@We worked next to each other for the next hour. We didn’t talk but, it was comfortable. I watched her whenever she couldn’t see. She looked pretty, as always. She licked her lips every now and then, almost like she was begging me to kiss her.
“You want something to drink?” she asked and pulled me out of my thoughts. Yeah, I’m thirsty but not only for a drink darlin’.
“Yeah, thanks darlin’,” I answered and wiped the sweat from my forehead with the back of my hand.
She nodded and looked at me. She walked to my cabin, but before she could reach it, I saw how she twisted her ankle and fell.
“Ouch!” she murmured and grabbed her ankle.
“What did ya do?” I said as he kneeled beside her as fast as I could. One of my hands found its way to her shoulder, the other hovered above her ankle.
“Just sprained my ankle, it’s no big deal,” she said. I held out my hand for her and helped her get up. Immediately, she hissed in pain when she tried to stand on the sprained ankle.
“Yeah, right, no big deal uh?” I spoke. No way she was going to walk right now. She needed to give her ankle some rest. I lifted her up bridal style and she let out a squeal.
“Sy, what are you doing?!” She wrapped her arms around tightly around my neck. If ya wanna choke me, let’s do that in a different situation darlin’. I might let ya.
I didn’t feel like she needed an answer to her question. Instead, I placed her down on one of the lounge chairs. I quickly walked inside afterwards and grabbed a pillow from the couch. I also grabbed two bottles of water from the fridge. When I came back, she was still seated on the lounge chair. Good girl. I was afraid she might have tried to stand up again.
“Ya stay here and let that ankle rest for a bit. I might not be able to wink, but you can’t walk apparently,” I mocked. She laughed, and I walked away to finish the work while chugging down the bottle of water.
It was hot and I started to sweat more and more. I wanted to take a nice, cold shower. Maybe I could persuade her of taking the shower with me? Shaking the thought off, I focused on pulling out the weeds.
After 30 minutes I was done. I had noticed Kat had been looking at me the entire time. That has to be a good sign, right? I looked at her and our eyes met, quickly I walked over to her.
“How’s that ankle doing?” I asked.
“Oh, it’s alright. It doesn’t hurt so much anymore,” Kat answered.
“How can ya know when ya haven’t stood on it since it happened?” I cocked my eyebrow. She hadn’t stood up since I had laid her down there, there now no way she could know the pain was gone.
I held my hand out for her. She took it and I helped me stand up. Once she was on both feet again, it was obvious that she was still in pain.
“Ya are clearly not in pain anymore,” I chuckled. “Come on, I’ll wrap it for ya. I have an emergency kit in my cabin.” I picked her up in my arms again, enjoying having her close to me.
“Sy! You know I can walk!” she yelped and wrapped her arms around my neck. “Also, you’re sweaty.”
“Ya can’t walk with that ankle. And don’t pretend you mind I’m a bit sweaty darlin’, I saw ya staring at me.” She gasped, and I chuckled. I carried her inside my cabin and sat her down on my bed. I walked into the bathroom and grabbed the emergency kit.
“Come here,” I said and kneeled in front of her. I gently grabbed her foot and placed it on my knee. I started to wrap her ankle carefully with a bandage. Her ankle was a little swollen, but it would be fine.
Soon, I was done. I stood up again and noticed the grass stains on her jeans. “If ya want, ya could wear some of my sweats,” I offered.
“Very nice offer captain, but in case you haven’t noticed, my ass won’t fit into those,” she smiled.
“Yeah right, I have a big ass too,” I huffed and turned my back to her to sway my ass.
“Oh, you do, you really do. But mine is still bigger,” she laughed. I laughed and shook my head.
“I wouldn’t mind helping ya change into my sweats though, maybe they’ll fit with my help,” I smirked. I really wouldn’t mind helping ya out of those jeans.
“You’re just trying to get me out of my pants or what?” she laughed. Yes. Fuck yes. I shook my head, grabbed the emergency kit, and walked back inside the bathroom.
I started in the mirror and noticed my sweaty face. I grabbed a washcloth, and quickly washed my face. Keep it together Sy. Or maybe I should just tell her. Maybe I could just ask her out? Don’t tell me she looks at me like that and not feel what I feel.
With a boost of confidence, I walked into the bedroom again. Kat is still on my bed, but this time she is holding the box with her letters. She was not supposed to find those. I coughed awkwardly, and she looked up.
“You kept my letters?” she asked me surprised.
“Yeah, I did.”
“Why?”
“Because I like them. I like reading them. They are kinda comforting,” I said and scratched the back of my head. “I sometimes read them before I go to sleep,” I continued.
“That is really sweet Sy,” she said and stood up. Seeing she was unsteady on her feet because of her ankle, I grabbed her elbow. Our eyes locked, and my heart skipped a beat. I thought I saw hope in her eyes.
We stood in front of each other, unsure of what to say next. Sy, it’s now or never. Just fuckin’ ask her. She was looking at the ground, so I lifted her chin up with my finger, making her look at me.
“You know what? Fuck it. Kat, darlin’, would ya like to go on a date with me?”

Y/N smiled, watching on as Sam and Eileen took care of their son, Elliot Patrick Winchester. It had been 2 and a half months since he arrived, and the Winchester family had never been more excited to have a new addition, especially one so adorable. Sam and Eileen somehow just knew exactly what they were doing, becoming pros at handling everything that comes with having a baby instantly. Knowing them pretty well now, Y/N had a brief thought that Sam must have researched anything and everything to do with pregnancy and babies. A book could never tell you exactly what to be prepared for, but they were a good guide, and the new parents were making it work and doing a great job.
However, Y/N could see how exhausted they both were. They had been going non-stop and hadn’t had any sort of a break, which she could see they desperately needed. She and Dean had talked between them that they should babysit and give them a Saturday off for now, so they could catch up on much needed rest. Now that Elliot had started to sleep through the night a little more, she knew that she and Dean could handle it.
Dean walked out of the bathroom, having freshened up just after Y/N, for lunch that they brought over to Sam and Eileen’s apartment. Eileen told them that she missed them and wanted them to come over, so they picked up some food along the way and made it to their apartment pretty quickly.
“There’s my man,” Dean said, smiling as he saw his nephew in Eileen’s lap. He walked over and instantly picked him up from Eileen, holding him close as he began to walk around the apartment.
Y/N watched on as he cooed at the baby, making funny faces and just being all around amazing. She had to admit that after seeing Dean with her nieces, and now his own nephew, it was beginning to stir feelings within her about seeing Dean as a father.
“Did you tell them what we talked about?” Dean asked, as he turned around to face her.
“I was about to,” she replied, before turning to look at Sam and Eileen. “Dean and I think you guys really need a break, so whenever you want us to, we’d love to take Elliot off your hands for a Saturday.”
Sam and Eileen smiled at them, both looking more than a little relieved at the offer. “That would be amazing,” Sam sighed, a small smile on his face. “I mean, we wouldn’t want to burden you-”
“It’s not a burden, Sammy,” Dean interjected, stopping his brother from thinking there was anything wrong with the idea. “You’ve been at this since the kid was born, you gotta relax.”
“Thank you both. That would really help us, we definitely need to recharge,” Eileen signed, smiling as she looked between Dean and Y/N.
“You’re welcome,” Y/N signed in return, smiling at Eileen.
Tumblr media
The next weekend, Sam brought Elliot over to Dean’s house, complete with all the things that he would need for his little stay with his uncle and aunt. Both Dean and Y/N were excited to look after the baby, while the new parents were just relieved to sleep the day away.
Sam arrived in the late morning, giving Dean and Y/N enough time to clean up before he got there. Y/N held the door as Sam carried the baby into the house, followed by Dean carrying Elliot’s bag and portable crib. He set them down in the living room, as Sam put the carrier down on the coffee table, with Elliot sitting inside, looking around inquisitively.
“Thanks again for doing this, guys,” Sam said, as he leaned over Elliot and undid the straps to take him out of the carrier.
Y/N smiled brightly at the baby as she held her hands out, instantly taking him from Sam. She held Elliot close, kissing his forehead as she gently rocked him. Dean looked over, smiling as he saw the baby in Y/N’s arms. She looked good like that, and he had a sudden thought about what she would look like with their baby in her arms.
“You’re so welcome,” she told Sam, looking up at him. “And you pick him up tomorrow at whatever time, no rush. Okay?”
Sam laughed, slightly as he nodded. “You got it.”
Sam gave them a rundown of what to do with Elliot, what time to feed him, when to put him down to sleep, and a few other things to know. For the most part, he would be easy to take care of, and Sam made them promise to call if anything happened that they couldn’t handle.
“We got this, Sammy.” Dean walked over to Y/N, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.
“Yeah, and it’ll be good practice, right?” Sam joked, chuckling slightly.
“Yeah,” they both said, agreeing without hesitation.
Sam was taken aback, considering his comment didn’t seem to get the standard freak out reaction from them, both of them as calm as ever. His expression turned into a small smile, already knowing that even though he had teased Dean about it, his older brother was going to be a great dad when it was his turn.
“Alright, I’m going to head out.” Sam leaned over, kissing Elliot’s head softly, before leaning in and kissing Y/N’s cheek. “Have fun.”
Y/N laughed and looked down at Dean’s nephew, nodding. “We will.”
Dean walked Sam to the door and said goodbye, shutting the door and walking back into the living room. He smiled at Y/N as she looked over at him, the thoughts he was having before coming back to him. He pushed them away, knowing it was way too soon to be thinking that way, even though they had already talked about it. In fact, they were about to be one step closer to that reality. A few weeks ago, he had gone to his parents’ house, wanting to talk his mom about how he wanted to propose to Y/N. He told her that he wanted to use her ring that his dad had given her, which she had kept for him to use some day. Nearly in tears when she heard that he was going to ask Y/N to marry him, Mary had agreed straight away and had given him the ring.
The plan was in motion now that he had the ring, and Dean already knew how he was going to propose. At the house that he had been renovating with the help of his friends and some professional help, after a night out. He couldn’t think of a better place to do it than the house that they would spend the next stage of their lives together in.
Dean got to work on fixing the portable crib, opening the contraption in the living room and staring down at it. It definitely looked more complicated than it probably was, so he would just have to take it one step at a time, trying to remember what Sam had told him. His first attempt was completely wrong, making him start all over again. Y/N watched on, amused by Dean’s attempts to set the crib up, rocking Elliot back and forth. Groaning loudly and cursing inwardly, Dean kicked the crib with frustration.
“Who designed this thing? NASA?” he complained, his face pulled into a frown.
Y/N pressed her lips together, trying not to laugh. “There’s instructions for a reason, babe.”
“Please,” he scoffed as he looked down at the crib. “Those are just there to confuse you even more.”
“Well, for the sake of your nephew, you should probably have a look at them,” she informed him, turning slightly to show him Elliot’s eyelids drooping with sleepiness.
“Fine,” he huffed, picking up the manual.
Within a few minutes, he had figured it out and assembled it securely. Y/N walked over slowly; Elliot now completely asleep in her arms. She leaned down and gently put him in the crib, relieved when he didn’t wake up. She looked down at him, smiling softly as she watched him sleep peacefully. Dean stood next to her, his expression resembling hers as he looked down at his nephew.
“He’s so cute,” she whispered, reaching out to lightly run her finger over Elliot’s little hand.
“Yeah,” Dean agreed, his voice low like hers.
“I’ll get started on lunch,” she stated, turning and kissing his cheek before she walked into the kitchen.
Y/N made some sandwiches for lunch, Dean and her sitting in the living room as they ate and kept a watch over Elliot. After lunch, they washed up and cleaned up the kitchen, trying not to make too much noise and wake the baby. Their attempts weren’t enough, as Elliot woke up and started fussing. Y/N went to him, picking him up and holding him close until she realized he needed a diaper change. Making quick work of setting things up, she started to change him, cooing and making faces at him to distract him.
Dean watched from the kitchen, knowing she couldn’t see him. He felt the familiar feeling he had earlier return, as he watched her smile and play with the baby while she changed him. He turned away to finish cleaning the kitchen, not wanting to get distracted by what he was thinking, but still smiling as he washed the dishes, those same thoughts still very much in his head.

The rest of the day continued in much of the same way. It had been relaxing for the most part, Y/N getting in some reading as she laid on the couch, checking in on Elliot every time he needed attention. Dean did the same when she couldn’t, both of them tag teaming pretty damn well, whether it was to feed him or change him, or just be with him when he needed. It was good practice, sure, but more than anything, it just solidified that he and Y/N could handle just about anything together.
Dean made dinner as Y/N sat on the couch, Elliot in her arms as he looked up at her. She smiled as she ran her finger over the small tuft of brown hair on his head, his slightly chubby cheeks which would no doubt get bigger, his little nose and chin. One side of his mouth quirked up, an attempt to smile as he looked up at her.
“Alright, dinner’s ready,” Dean called out, bringing two bowls of pasta to the table.
Y/N got up from the couch, slowly putting the baby into the carrier, and carrying him on to the dining area. She set him on the table across from them, smiling as she sat down, seeing him quite content to be with his family. Dean pulled a face at him, but his morphed into an unamused one, the baby showing quite a personality already.
“That face right there is so Sam,” Dean said, laughing as he looked at his nephew’s blank expression. “He’d always do that when he didn’t like a joke I’d make. Guess the kid takes after his dad in that, too.”
Y/N laughed as she took a forkful of pasta, looking between the baby and Dean. “Maybe that’ll change when he’s older.”
“Better,” Dean muttered as he ate.
Y/N pursed her lips in thought, wondering if she should voice the question that suddenly came into her head. “So… when we have our own…” she trailed off as she looked at him, her cheeks heating up at the subject.
“Uh huh,” he mumbled, smirking. He was amused at her reaction and wanted to see where she was going with this.
“Well… how-how many do you want?” she asked, hesitantly as she bit her lip.
He hummed as he sat back in his chair, taking a sip of his beer. He put the bottle down, looking over at her. “Well… two’s good, I like the thought of two. Like me and Sammy.”
She nodded, smiling. “Like me and Jill.”
He nodded, as he thought about the idea of two kids. Suddenly, flashes of his recurring dream he had had so many times over the years came to him. In the dream he had three kids, two boys and a girl.
“The idea of three though…” he started, as he looked at her. “I don’t know, I guess it feels… complete.”
Y/N beamed, trying to hide her face as she smiled wide. “I like the idea of three, too.”
“Awesome,” Dean muttered, unable to contain his smile either. “Though, god help me if we have a girl,” he stated, shuddering.
“Why?” she asked, laughing lightly. She looked over at Elliot, giving him a once over before turning back to Dean.
“I’m going to go pretty crazy with a girl. I mean, when she starts dating… nope, you know what? She’s never dating.” Dean shook his head, as he sipped his beer, not wanting to think about it anymore.
Y/N laughed as she shook her head. “That’s not going to be in your control, baby.”
“Yes, it will,” he countered, not listening to reason. “Especially if the boys are anything like me.”
“I think you’re pretty great,” she said, leaning closer to him.
Dean scoffed as he looked at her. “You didn’t know me back then. Trust me, you would’ve hated me in high school.”
She shook her head, completely disagreeing with him. “I don’t know, seems like you were the rebel and bad boy type, but you have a quiet and kind side too. Feels like I would’ve totally had a crush on you, Dean Winchester.”
“Really?” He raised an eyebrow, leaning closer to her.
“Oh yeah,” she whispered, moving in and kissing him, passionately. She pulled away after a moment, smiling. “If those boys turn out to be anything like you are now when they grow up, she’ll be fine.”
Dean smirked, sipping his beer before he continued to eat. They didn’t say much else on the subject after that, continuing their meal as they kept an eye on Elliot. That conversation told them everything they needed to know. Neither of them could wait for the day they had a child of their own.
After dinner, Y/N cleared up while Dean took over on Elliot duty, feeding him. Once he was done, Dean wheeled the crib into his bedroom and started to get Elliot ready to put him down for the night. Once she had cleaned up, Y/N walked down the hall to the bedroom. She smiled as she heard Dean talking to the baby, leaning against the doorway as she watched him changing Elliot’s diaper. He squirmed around, getting a little restless.
“Hey, you know what? I’ll pay you money if you stay still,” Dean joked, as he leaned over the baby.
Y/N laughed quietly, shaking her head at Dean’s attempt to calm the baby. She watched as Dean secured the diaper, buttoning Elliot’s onesie back into place and slowly picking him up. He held his nephew close, making her feel things she had no control over in that moment. She couldn’t wait to see him as a dad, this little glimpse as an uncle proving that he would excel at it. She laughed again as Dean started humming “Smoke on the Water” to Elliot.
“Dean,” she started but stopped when he shushed her. He rocked the baby, and she could see Elliot’s eyes closing.
“It’s working,” he whispered to her. He walked over to the crib slowly, still humming.
“Okay, if I put you down, you gonna be a man about it?” he asked his nephew, quietly, despite knowing he wouldn’t get an answer.
Dean slowly laid Elliot down, smiling when he saw him fast asleep. He looked at Y/N and smiled in relief. He cleaned up and put everything back in its place, washing up in the bathroom. He ushered Y/N out of the room as he left the door open, slightly ajar.
They walked down the hallway and dropped onto the couch in the living room, Y/N immediately curling into Dean’s side. She laid her head on his shoulder, her arm wrapped around his. She smiled softly as events of the day played through her mind again.
“We did good today,” she said, looking up at him.
“We did,” he agreed, leaning down and pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. “You were awesome.”
She smiled as she wrapped her arm tighter around his. “So were you.”
They moved in and met halfway, their lips pressing together, a slow kiss between them. Y/N shifted back slightly, allowing Dean to wrap his arms around her waist as hers moved around his neck. He moved into her, his hands gently pressing into her back as he laid her down on the couch.
“This is so high school of us,” she laughed between kisses.
“The rebel and the babysitter… yeah, sounds about right.” He chuckled as he leaned in again.
She hummed against his lips, chuckling lightly. “More like the nerdy babysitter.”
“Even better,” he mumbled against her mouth. “You know how I feel about your little teacher clothes.”
They continued to kiss passionately, pulling each other as close as they possibly could. Dean removed his lips from hers, moving down to her neck, leaving small kisses and nips along her skin. His hands slid down her body, pushing up her shirt and feeling her warm flesh against his palms. He reached for the edge of it, pulling it up slightly, when a sudden wail from the bedroom startled both of them. He jerked back, hovering over her, as he looked down the hallway to where his nephew was now crying.
Dean groaned, shutting his eyes. “Of course Sammy’s kid is a cockblock.”
Y/N burst into laughter, cupping her hands over her mouth, as her shoulders shook from how hard she was laughing. She felt the couch shift as he got up, hearing him walk away down to the bedroom. She sat up and fixed her shirt, getting up from the couch and following behind him. When she got to the room, she saw Dean leaning over the crib.
“Alright, kid. What’s going on, huh?” he asked, as he reached in and picked up Elliot. Holding him close, the baby started to calm down, small whimpers leaving his mouth before his eyes started to close. “Ah, someone just wanted a little extra attention before he completely passed out, huh? I get it.”
Y/N walked closer and wrapped her arms around Dean’s waist, looking down at Elliot as he held him.
“Hope this means you’ll get some proper shut eye, and I can score with your aunt here,” Dean whispered, looking between the baby and Y/N with a small smirk.
She shook her head as she rolled her eyes, a smile tugging at her lips. “You’re insatiable.”
“When it comes to you, damn right I am.” He leaned over, kissing her and lightly nipping at her lower lip, causing a small moan to leave her.
“Not in front of your nephew,” she scolded playfully, looking up at Dean when he pulled away. “You get him to sleep, I’ll go find something for us to watch.”
“Okay.” He kissed her once more, winking at her before she turned around and walked out of the room.
He bit his lip and looked down at Elliot, smiling. “She’s pretty great, huh?” he asked, seeing Elliot look up at him.
“She’s really gonna be your aunt soon, if she says yes,” Dean said, quietly. “And then hopefully you’ll have some cousins to cause trouble with, soon too.”
Elliot’s eyes drifted closed again, a small sigh as he fell asleep again. Dean kissed his head softly and gently laid him down again, smiling as he didn’t jostle from the movement.
Dean shut the lights off, leaving the bedside lamp on for some brightness, before he left the room and walked down to the living room to join Y/N.

The next morning, Dean and Y/N tag teamed just as well as they did the day before, before Sam arrived at noon to pick Elliot up.
Y/N kissed Elliot’s forehead, frowning as she handed him over to Sam. She watched as the father strapped his son into the car seat, feeling a little sad to be giving him back already. Looking after him had naturally been a challenge, but she loved it so much and loved seeing Dean with the baby, too. Sam turned to them, smiling as he hugged each of them.
“Thanks so much again for doing this,” he said, leaning against the car.
“You’re welcome,” Y/N said, smiling. “I just hope you and Eileen got the rest you deserve.”
“Oh yeah, we definitely did. I think we slept for like 7 hours, didn’t get up until the late afternoon,” Sam told them, laughing slightly.
“Good. You needed it.” Y/N rubbed her hand up and down Sam’s arm, before stepping back and standing next to Dean.
“Always happy to look after the little guy, you just say the word and we’re ready, Sammy,” Dean added.
“We really appreciate that.” Sam tossed his car keys up before catching them again, a small smile on his face. “Alright, we better go. Eileen’s missing him already.”
“Tell her we said hi,” Y/N informed him, as she and Dean watched Sam get into the car.
“I will,” Sam agreed, sitting in the driver’s seat with his window down. “We’ll do something soon.”
They both gave Sam a small nod and waved as they watched him drive away from the house.
They walked back in and Dean closed the door, immediately swooping behind Y/N and pulling her close. She laughed as she leaned back and kissed him; the kiss instantly heating up.
“The kid leaves and the first thing you do is this?” she asked, her eyes closing as he kissed her neck.
“Damn right, I didn’t get any last night because of him,” he replied, between laying kisses on her neck and shoulder.
“You know, that was just a taste of what life is going to be like with a baby,” she informed him, chuckling at him as he stopped kissing her and pouted.
“Damn,” he whispered. “Are we really sure we wanna have any?”
She smacked his arm around her playfully, laughing as she shook her head. “Yes.” Turning around in his arms, she wrapped her arms around his neck, wagging her eyebrows at him. “Besides, think of how much fun we’ll have making them.”
Dean visibly shivered as he looked down at her, moving down to kiss her, a little more hunger for her behind it this time. He hummed against her lips, pulling away slightly. “Maybe we should start now?”
She shook her head but smiled at him. “Give it a little time, babe.”
“Fine.” He frowned but it quickly morphed into a smirk. “We’re still gonna have sex right now, though, right?”
“Obviously,” she replied, with a little ‘duh’ expression.
Kissing her again, he picked her up as her legs came up to wrap around his waist. He carried her into the bedroom, but pulled away slightly, smiling.
“Hey,” he said, softly getting her attention away from his lips. “How about dinner next Saturday? Just you and me… we haven’t done that in a while.”
“Yeah,” she said, biting her lip as she smiled. “I’d love to.”
“Awesome,” he smirked, leaning in to kiss her again.
Sometime later, as they laid in bed wrapped up in the sheets, Dean held Y/N close. Both of them were content, basking in the peace that came after the intense love making, knowing they didn’t have to speak and fill the silence. He smirked as he thought about his plan, and how she had unknowingly agreed to a night out that would change their lives forever.
It was a lot of pressure, and it could just as easily completely backfire on him, but Dean was certain that things were going to be okay.
With Y/N by his side, they always were and hopefully if she agreed to be his wife, they always would be.

For the AUs! ❤ Peterpatterlina + Apple Orchard AU?
Gig money was great, and all, and while Julie and the Phantoms was really starting to gain traction (they had two gigs this month, and only one of them was at Flynn's Mom's Tupperware Party), it wasn't exactly enough to buy a new amp (fixing it in the rain had not gone well), go to the laundromat, buy enough food for him and Stevie when their parents forgot, and save up for Christmas Presents for the band and his little brother.
Which meant Reggie had to get a Job. Except not one that needed him in the evenings, because while Luke had been very gracious (after Julie kicked him in the shin) about Reggie not having his entire weekends free to practice, Reggie wasn't about to cost them any gigs. So food service was out, and most supermarkets saw a seventeen year old and figured of course he could work evening shifts as well, and well... Harold's Apple Orchard closed at four thirty, and the ladies who ran it even offered to drive him back into town in their truck on the days he had a gig.
So Reggie biked up early every morning on Saturday and Sunday, dragging out the square hay bales for the little seating area and sweeping out the barns and stacking the baskets for the pick-your-own-apples in an aesthetically pleasing way, and making the rounds to ensure any gross mushy apples were off the walking paths, while Sarah got the petting zoo ready and Norah made that weekend's fresh apple pie, apple cake, and caramel apples.
Usually around nine thirty, the first families rolled in. Reggie helped pass out baskets, guided people to their designated trees, and his favourite part, showed kids where the petting zoo was. Today was a pretty slow day, because the forecast had been threatening rain, but the weather seemed to be holding. Reggie was just pestering Norah into letting him do 'quality control' on her latest batch of apple-cinnamon cupcakes when he heard it.
"Oh my god, Julie look, they have ALPACAS!"
He whipped around, staring when he saw Luke and Julie. Julie was wearing the prettiest yellow sundress, and Luke was wearing, well, his usual get up, but he'd styled his hair all pretty. They looked amazing together, the picture perfect couple.
And Reggie knew he hadn't had as much free time, but he'd been doing his best to balance work, and the band, and Steve, and his chores, and time with his boyfriend and girlfriend. He didn't mind that they went on dates without him, they'd talked about that.
They had said they were okay with him taking this job, that they understood he had to work, even on their anniversary. They'd had plans for later in the evening, after Reggie'd gone home to make sure Steve was okay. It wasn't ideal, but Luke and Julie had promised him they'd understood.
Which was why it seemed particularly cruel that they'd go on a date together at his job, where he was stuck behind this table for the rest of the afternoon, lucky to catch glimpses of them enjoying themselves without him when guiding other clients to their trees.
"Hi," Julie said, beaming at him as she dragged Luke away from the alpacas and over to the check-in area. "We have a reservation?"
Reggie tried not to let the hurt show on his face, ducking his face down to look in the books. "Um, there's no Molina or Patterson in here," he said, confused.
"It'll be under Peters," Luke said, grinning. "We have the special deluxe package?"
"We don't have a special..." Reggie started, confused, when Norah strode over.
"Absolutely," Norah said, grinning. "We have your personal guide right here."
Reggie blinked, before realizing she meant him. "Oh," he said, before looking back at Julie and Luke. They were beaming. "Oh!"
"You kids have fun now," Norah said, shooing them off, shoving a picnic basket full of goodies onto Reggie's arm.
"Surprise," Luke murmured into his ear, pressing a quick kiss to it, while Julie grabbed his free hand.
Best anniversary ever.
Send me a pairing and an AU and I will write (at least) 3 paragraphs for it.
