is your name femme as in femme lesbian? or femme as in french for woman <3
Hi love! Interesting question. My original intent behind my blog name was/is to embody what I consider to be a modern "femme fatale" both in a more characteristic sense (the idea that women should feel confident in their looks and abilities, and have the skills to seduce anything/anyone into their lives while learning to live with discretion instead of shame), an aesthetic sense (I love all black clothing in different silhouettes and materials, sultry makeup, and the "dark Parisian" aesthetic, and highlight the double-standards that come to light when analyzing how the "femme fatale" contributes to early feminist discourse/representation. The femme fatale demonstrates how a woman can be extremely clever, decisive, independent, and success driven without losing her more "feminine" qualities like her desire to put effort into her appearance and intermingle with men without losing her sense of self or identity.
Honestly, I didn't even consider that my blog name could be alluding to being a femme lesbian until a few community members asked me this same question. Clearly too heterosexual for my own good here, lol. I'm glad, though, that I've had a lot of members of the WLW reach out to better understand the issues they grapple with in our heteronormative society and voice their experiences/share advice through my platform. Intersectional feminism is so important to me <3
I do very much resonate with French culture, though, so I love the irony of that. Much of my style is very Parisan (and wear a lot of French brands/beauty products), I speak some of the language, love French movies/music, have dated a considerable amount of men from the country, and just fully appreciate their overall approach to life/mentality.
Hope this answers your question xx

spent the afternoon in paris and went to my favorite places. gotta say i love this city as much as i hate it.
had this orange/lime juice, walked with grandma, saw the Sacré Cœur and felt home. hold my mom’s arm and made the silliest jokes with my dad. crushed brown leaves with my feet.
gotta say life’s pretty cool.
