“Keep your voice down,” I hissed as I walked back down the stairs to meet Mike. “What does this have to do with you? Why do you care?”
“Oh, I don’t,” Mike said. “But I’m sure Nancy would like to know that her twin sister is macking on the guy she was dating a few weeks ago.”
Most siblings would only be bluffing by saying that. Or it would be blackmail to get out of doing chores for a week or something. But not Mike. Mike was an annoying little shit, and always had been. He would tell Nancy what he saw just for the sake of telling her. He’d want nothing more than to cause a rift between me and Nancy, just for his own amusement.
“She’s with Jonathan now, she won’t care,” I retorted. Although, I wasn’t completely sure I believed that. Nancy was the one who broke up with Steve and moved on first, but that didn’t mean it was right for me to move in on her ex-boyfriend so quickly.
“Why don’t we ask her what she thinks?”
Mike opened his mouth, but I quickly covered it to stop him. “What do you want, you little shit?”
“What do you have to offer me?”
I rolled my eyes. “I’m serious, Mike, can’t you just leave this alone? I’m going to tell Nancy eventually, I just need to figure out the right way.”
Mike crossed his arms. “How long have you been sneaking around behind Nancy’s back, though?” I hesitated, which was the only answer Mike needed. “Geez, what a sister you are. Did you even wait long after they broke up to steal her boyfriend?”
Mike’s words cut like a knife. I wanted to argue, but nothing would come out. I hadn’t “stolen” Steve from Nancy. She had broken up with him. She hadn’t even told me herself that she had until a few weeks later, after Steve and I had already started dating.
But was that even really a defense? It had still only been a few weeks in between them breaking up and us getting together. Not that that mattered; he was my sister’s ex. Even in five years time after their breakup, it would’ve been wrong to date him. It was like the ultimate sibling betrayal. I had been thinking this from the start, but I had been so blinded by how good it felt to be with Steve; how happy he made me when we were together.
If it was so wrong, though, why did it feel so good?
When I didn’t respond, Mike took a step away from me. “That was harsh. I’m sorry.”
If I wasn’t having such an internal conflict, I would’ve been shocked by Mike’s apology.
“I won’t tell Nancy,” he continued. “You should tell her soon, though. You guys are too close to let anything get between you like that.”
He turned and walked back downstairs to join his friends again. I was left stunned. I knew things had to be bad when Mike of all people was the voice of reason. I could feel my eyes stinging with tears. I forced myself up the stairs and to my room before anyone found me. I slammed my door behind me and collapsed onto my bed. I shoved my face into my pillow to try and muffle my tears.
I felt so terrible. I knew Mike was right. I knew I had to tell Nancy before things with Steve and I went any further, but now I felt like the admission was going to go terribly. I kept trying to convince myself that Nancy wouldn’t be mad about me dating Steve. I thought that it wouldn’t ruin our sisterly bond if she had already moved on. But now Mike’s words had gotten to me. I knew they shouldn’t have, because he’s Mike. Mike didn’t know shit, and he loved to bother Nancy and I. But I just couldn’t get what he said out of my head.
After some time, I managed to cry myself to sleep.
~~~~~~
I was still feeling off the next day. I didn’t want to face Mike or Nancy, or our parents for that matter, so I got ready for school while everyone was downstairs and rushed out the door. I didn’t even call back to tell mom I was going to school when she asked.
Normally, if I wasn’t getting a ride with Nancy, I’d get one with Holly. But today I didn’t want a ride to school. I wanted to walk, hopefully clear my head with the fresh air. I couldn’t avoid everyone forever, especially Nancy. I needed to come up with a plan to tell her, and soon. Mike said he wouldn’t tell her, but I didn’t completely believe him. I couldn’t have him holding this secret over my head, and I definitely couldn’t keep this secret for much longer. Not if this was how I was going to feel about it.
I was still so deep in thought when I got to school that I didn’t notice how empty the hallways were. It was still pretty early, but this level of emptiness was eerie for Hawkins High. I definitely did notice that all the usual hall occupants were stood in front of my locker. My heart started to pound as I got closer, pushing through the crowd to get to my locker.
When I caught sight of my locker, I sucked in a breath.
In bright red spray paint across my locker door, it said, “Boyfriend stealing slut.”
And next to my locker, with a spray paint can in her hand and an evil smirk on her face, was Carol.
I could hear the whispering behind me. Carol was giggling with her friends. I knew she did this as a way to get back at me for the whole Tommy and Steve fight. She didn’t actually know about me and Steve. And it was certainly working. My eyes were starting to gloss over with tears again. The voices around me sounded loud and like they were engulfing me whole. Like my whole world was crashing down around me, and it was being pulled down by their voices.
I turned and shoved through the crowd, running away before any of them could see me cry. I ran out the nearest door and kept going as far as my legs would let me. Eventually, I came to a clearing in the trees surrounding the school when my legs finally gave up and I collapsed into a sobbing heap on the ground.
I wasn’t sure how I’d go back to school after that. Not just today, but ever. Everyone would see what Carol had written on my locker before the day was out. It didn’t matter which “boyfriend” she was accusing me of stealing, or whether or not her claims were true. The rumors would spread through school like a wildfire. No one would ever look at me the same way again.
“Hey, are you okay?”
I jumped and looked up to see someone stood in front of me. He looked vaguely familiar, with long, curly brown hair, big brown eyes, and ripped jeans and a Metallica t-shirt. He took a step back when he saw my startled face.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” he said. “I was passing through and heard a noise. I just wanted to make sure you’re not hurt or anything.”
I shook my head. “I’ll be fine. Thanks for checking, though.”
He looked at me for a long time before kneeling down in front of me. I furrowed my brows at him in confusion.
“You look sad,” he said. “Why are you sad? The school day hasn’t even started yet.”
“It hasn’t even started, but I’m already over it,” I said. “I’m fucking sick of those people back there. I never, ever want to go back.”
Fresh tears started running down my cheeks. I tried to wipe them away, but they fell quicker than I could stop them. I felt embarrassed to be crying in front of this stranger. I just wanted to go back home and lock myself in my room and cry until I was so dehydrated that I just shriveled up and disappeared.
He put his hand out towards me. I looked at it for a second before deciding to put my hand in his. He rose to his feet, pulling me up with him. We walked over to one of the nearby picnic tables. He motioned for me to sit down, then sat down across from me.
“I’m Eddie,” he said. “What’s your name?”
“(Y/N),” I responded.
“Nice to meet you, (Y/N). Now, do you want to talk about what has you crying in the middle of the woods?”
I sighed and wiped my face again. My eyes felt heavy from all the tears. My day had barely just started and my body already felt exhausted.
“Carol,” I said, my voice breaking.
Eddie made a face. “Yeah, she would make me feel like that, too.”
“She wrote on my locker,” I explained. “She...she called me a slut. A-A boyfriend stealing slut.”
His eyes widened. “What?! That’s...why the fuck would she say that? Did you look at Tommy H for too long?”
I shook my head. I looked down at my lap as I felt myself about to cry again. I wasn’t sure how much water was even left in me. I blinked away the tears and tried to swallow the lump forming in my throat.
“I’m dating Steve Harrington,” I blurted before I could stop myself. “We’ve been dating for nearly a month. And before he dated me, he was dating my sister. Like...maybe two weeks before we got together. But she doesn’t know. No one does, besides my best friend and my little brother. But Carol must suspect it, and she’s trying to get back at me for Tommy H being punished over a fight with Steve. A fight that, admittedly, happened because of something Tommy H said to me.”
My chest untightened with every word. I didn’t realize how freeing it was going to feel to admit all of this to someone. Even if Eddie was a complete stranger to me; even if he went running to tell everyone about me and Steve, it felt so good to finally talk to someone about it. It freed the lump in my throat and dried up the remaining tears.
And somehow, it made me even more exhausted than before.
Eddie was silent. He looked at me with his big, doe like brown eyes. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking about my confession. Maybe it was too much to drop on a total stranger. He was probably regretting his decision to come over and check on me when he heard me crying. This is what happens when you try to be a good person, he was probably telling himself.
“That sounds like a lot,” he finally said.
I let out a noise that sounded half like a laugh, and half like a sob. “It is. It is a lot.”
“Listen, I’m no expert on these things, I don’t even play one on TV - ” That earned him a more genuine laugh from me. “ - but I think your best course of action here is to sit your sister down and tell her everything. Even if she doesn’t take it well, at least you finally have that off your chest. And then you can decide what the fate of your relationship with Steve is going to be. If you feel your bond with your sister is stronger than whatever you feel for him.”
“I’m terrified,” I admitted. “I keep telling everyone I’m not, and I keep making up excuses, but the truth is I get so scared to tell Nancy the truth that the thought of it alone makes me feel nausous.”
“Well, that’s understandable. You’re keeping a huge secret from her. One where you’re anticipating the worst outcome of telling her the truth. But you can’t keep this secret forever. Eventually, she will find out, and it’ll be much better for her to find out from you soon, than for someone else to tell her way down the line. It’ll especially be better for you to tell her over her finding out from Carol’s suspicions.”
I cringed. I hadn’t thought of that. I was afraid Mike would be the one to tell her, but Carol had way more of a vendetta against me right now than Mike did. Even if she had no evidence about mine and Steve’s relationship, nothing would stop her from just telling Nancy what she thought was going on between us.
I wiped my face again, but finally found that it was dry. I gave Eddie the best smile I could muster. “Thanks, Eddie. I appreciate this.”
“Hey, what are friends for?”
I raised an eyebrow at him. “Friends? We met like five seconds ago.”
“Yeah, and now I’ve decided that we’re friends. Strangers don’t just approach random crying girls and give them life advice without some form of friendship coming from it.”
I chuckled. “Okay, fair enough.”
Eddie smiled back at me. I felt like some of the weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. The rest of it would be lifted once I finally talked to Nancy.
I could hear the warning bell ringing off in the distance. The grey cloud of despair appeared over me again at the thought of going back to school. I didn’t want to face any of those people after what Carol did. I knew I’d have to go back eventually, but today I just couldn’t.
"Do you have a car?” I asked Eddie.
“I have a shitty old van,” he responded. “It’s shit, but it drives.”
“Can you...would you mind taking me back to my house? I don’t think I can go to school today.”
“You don’t want to find Steve and ask him?”
“I don’t think I want to see Steve at all right now.”
Eddie agreed. We both stood and made our way back through the trees. The grounds around the school were mostly empty now that the warning bell had rang. Everyone would be inside, racing to their classes, probably whispering about the angry red letters that were written on one of the lockers in the hallway.
Everyone, except for Steve, who was stood by the front doors of the school.
I tried to quickly pass by without him seeing us, but the movements only made him notice us more. Steve got to his feet and called for me. He started to approach, his arms out like he was going to hug me, but then stopped when he noticed that I wasn’t alone. Eddie put his head down once Steve noticed him. I could tell by the look on his face and by his body language that Eddie and Steve likely had the same type of relationship I had with Carol. Or at least, they did before, back when Steve was still part of his shitty friend group.
“What are you doing with Eddie ‘the freak’ Munson?” Steve asked me.
I looked at him in disbelief. “Is that what you call him? Jesus, Steve, that’s such a shitty thing to say!”
“It’s just a nickname,” Eddie mumbled.
“No it’s not, it’s bullying,” I said. “That’s the exact same as Carol calling me a slut.”
Steve winced. “I’m sorry. That’s what...I used to call him. I didn’t mean...” He trailed off. He lifted his arms again, as if trying to start the whole interaction over. “I’m so sorry about what Carol did. I know this has to be about me and Tommy, and it’s not fair that she’s taking it out on you.”
“No, it’s not fair,” I said, stepping away from his waiting embrace. He lowered his arms, a hurt look taking over his face. “And this person who you have decided to call a freak was the only person who brought me any comfort. Because you didn’t even come looking for me, Steve! Eddie found me, in the woods, crying my eyes out because everyone is making me feel like shit for dating my sister’s ex-boyfriend.”
“Who else knows?” Steve asked.
“That doesn’t matter. What matters is...I can’t deal with this right now. I’m going home. Eddie is taking me home.”
Steve looked at Eddie over my shoulder. Eddie had stepped back again, like he was trying to inch himself away from the situation.
“I can take you home,” he said.
I shook my head. “I’d rather Eddie take me home. I...I just need space right now, Steve.”
“(Y/N), I’m sorry for what I said about Eddie. And I’m sorry I didn’t come looking for you. No one knew where you went - ”
“It’s not about that,” I cut him off. “Honestly, Steve, I just need some time alone.”
Before he could say anything else, I turned back to Eddie. His eyes flickered between me and Steve, before he finally nodded his head for me to follow him. I tried not to think about Steve’s sad eyes boring against my back as I walked away from him. I tried to focus on anything except for the fact that it felt like my entire life had fallen apart in less than 12 hours.
Part Seven
After Sweetie had told her what had happened, Twilight was stunned. She didn't think the infected were capable of speech. And she doubted the little filly was lying, she looked genuinely terrified.
"It's okay, Sweetie. Calm down. I'll have Rainbow go back and see if Scootaloo says anything. Maybe we can learn more about the infected that way!" Twilight tried to be assuring to the young unicorn.
It didn't help Sweetie feel much better, she was anxiously pacing now.
The next day, Rainbow was nowhere to be found for a few hours. The remaining Mane Six members searched everywhere for her, eventually finding her...
In front of the now-empty cell of Scootaloo, the ground in front of it covered in glass, and drips of blood.
"She told me to... She told me to let her out... She was crying so hard, she just wanted to see me again..." Rainbow was muttering to herself. "B-But I couldn't open the door... So she broke the glass..."
You had hardly slept a wink all week.
Edwards, the P.I. your parents had hired, had been looking into Rafe all week following your admission of his texting you. You had sat on it for a day, contemplating if you wanted your family to take care of it or if you wanted to take care of it yourself. But you had to be braver than the old you, the old you that never peeped a word. So, you showed Lillie the text & the dominoes fell from there.
Unfortunately, Edwards found nothing. Or at least everything he needed to find was being well hidden by the Cameron’s.
“Can’t believe that snake, Ward. Protecting his piece of shit son.” Your dad spit to your mother as they failed to whisper to one another in the kitchen. You & Lillie sat in the adjoining sitting room, Edwards across from you as he strolled while on the phone.
You could see the panic in the room: your mom casting worried glances in your direction every few minutes, your dad trying to contain his rage as he pictured his daughter being hurt again, Lillie as she splayed a hand on your upper back in comfort—though you didn’t need it, even Edwards, who appeared to treat this job closer to the heart since he refused to give up until you were safe. There was panic & fear all around you. Yet you never felt a bit of it.
You knew you had done the right thing by telling your family about the text, but personally you hadn’t felt in any true danger. You knew it stemmed from your inability to recall your previous life, so you couldn’t understand their panic & fear since you—this you—hadn’t experienced that panic & fear yourself like the old you had when with Rafe.
It was another burdening case of imposter syndrome. This was her life, not yours. It was her family & friends who were scared, not yours. If it was her taking over your body right now, she likely would be crying, pleading to the universe to please take Rafe away from her forever. But you sat there, numb & removed from the whole situation.
Edwards hung up the phone, glancing quickly at you before moving towards your parents in the kitchen.
“No luck.” He told them. They shared displeased reactions.
“I shouldn’t be surprised. What do we do then?” Your father asked, desperate for a way to keep you safe.
Edwards sighed, “Until I know exactly where that kid is, I can’t offer any guaranteed safety measures. His punk of a dad has a lot of people in his pocket, a lot of people on this island who will protect that kid despite what they know. And in spite of all that,” Edwards flicked a look in your direction of his shoulder, “she’s still safest here on the island. With all of you.”
“Then what if we all left?” Lillie spoke up from beside you, “If we go with her, if we all leave, then she’ll stay safe, right?”
Edwards shrugged, “In a way, yes, but my jurisdiction only goes so far. You want my best advice? Stay. Until I find him, & I will. It’ll just be tougher.”
“But doesn’t Ward’s authority only go so far, too?” You found yourself surprised at the sound of your own voice.
“Perhaps.” Edwards nodded, “But money always goes further. Money I certainly don’t have. Money your parents do have, but their influence is not nearly as strong as Ward’s.”
“So I’m a sitting duck.” You replied dully, “Just waiting for him to stroll in & take me whenever.”
“That’s never going to happen, _____.” Your dad implored, his eyes set hard & wide, “I’ll kill that kid myself if he comes within a mile of this house.”
Your mother placed a hand on your dad’s arm, saying his name to calm him, “He won’t come near her.”
Edwards sighed again, though this was seemed to suggest he had something further upsetting to add, “I wouldn’t be so sure about that.”
All four of you listened intently as he spoke.
“Ward could send that kid anywhere, really. And I imagine, like you, he’s tried himself to get him off her back, albeit for more selfish name-saving reasons, however, I’m sure he’s exhausted those efforts as well. If I had any guess, which I think I have a good idea considering how tight-lipped everyone on this island are being, I imagine he’s here, on the island, close.”
A weakened shudder passed through you, hardly making you worried, but the fact of the matter still unsettled you.
“And if he is here, _____ is right. He’s probably being smart about it, playing the long game.”
“So then we leave!” Lillie added again, her frustration at the situation growing for everyone involved.
“And he would follow.” Edwards responded, “If this kid is anything like you’ve said he is, like he’s proven to be by following your daughter hundreds of miles away, no distance will stop him. And with his daddy’s money, he’ll go for as long as he wants.”
“So we do nothing.” Your dad was exasperated, fed up with the inability to really do anything.
“You stay alert. Stay with her.” Edwards pointed at you, “Don’t just let anyone come & go from this household. You don’t know who you can trust.”
“What about you?” You questioned, frowning at Edwards, “If Ward has so much money & can pay off anyone, how do we know he hasn’t done the same to you. How do we know that we can trust you? That you’re not here just to keep tabs on me for him.”
Edwards nodded in understanding, “You’re right. You don’t know that.” He addressed your parents, “But unlike a lot of people on this island, I have standards, morals. And unfortunately, my word on that is going to have to do.”
A beat of silence followed, everyone in the room then suddenly looking at Edwards as if he was a bad guy too. You needed your family to be paranoid. If everyone wanted Rafe gone for good, they needed to know exactly who they could trust.
Edwards cleared his throat, raising his phone towards your parents, “My phone is on if you ever hear any more information. I have her phone tapped in case the Cameron kid makes more attempts at contacting her. I got some of the best people working on this. If I hear anything, I’ll let you know.”
“Thank you, Edwards.” Your mother said, “We really do appreciate your dedication.”
“I had a daughter once.” He forced a small smile, casting you one more solemn look, “Okay, I’ll come by again tomorrow evening. Be safe, now.”
Your dad walked Edwards to the door while your mom joined you & Lillie in the sitting room.
“It’ll be okay, sweetheart.” Your mom assured.
But you didn’t need it. You felt… fine. But you nodded anyway, not wanting to alarm your family that you were wholly unbothered. Sure, you were concerned for them because they were concerned for you, but you weren’t worried about yourself. Again, because it wasn’t you. This wasn’t your life, this was life you woke up to, that you were forced into.
“We’ll find him, _____.” Lillie rubbed your arm. You forced a smile, wanting to assure her even though you didn’t believe the words coming out of your own mouth, “I know.”
Tumblr media
It was Christmas.
A couple weeks had passed since you last got any updates about Rafe. Edwards reported the same thing every day: nowhere to be found, no one talking. It was the same thing every single time.
Lillie & your parents remained vigilant though. You hadn’t been alone once since you brought to their attention that Rafe had messaged you. Even when you showered, Lillie lied on your bed, talking to you about normal stuff through the door.
Fuck, you wanted to kill for some alone time. Even if it meant risking Rafe appearing out of the darkness & stealing you away. Part of you even entertained the idea, just so you could stop being watched every second of every day.
“Is Jozef’s work still having that work party for New Years?” You questioned Lillie, meeting her eyes in the reflection of your vanity mirror.
“I think so, yeah. His bosses boss splurged this year & they’re treating the staff to a private beach party.” She shared.
“Are you going as his date?”
She shrugged, “I don’t know yet. I was thinking you & I would hang that night.”
You rolled your eyes, knowing what she was really saying: I’m watching you that night since your parents will be out of town.
“Lil. I can handle one night on my own.”
“Fuck that.” She spit, rolling off your bed to join you at the vanity. You were struggling putting your hair up into an elegant up-do. Your parents were hosting a small Christmas dinner for close friends—all of whom were screened by Edwards before being invited.
“Let me help.” Lil placed a bobby pin between her full lips as she gently threaded your hair between her fingers.
“Then I’ll go with you.” You returned to the conversation at hand. Honestly, you were just desperate to do anything. Much like your life at the beginning of your rebirth, you were either sleeping in your room during the day or being vegetative & alone at night—even if Lil slept in bed with you. It was getting to be too much. Edwards himself said that there still hasn’t been any update or progress in finding Rafe, plus he hasn’t messaged you once since the first time. It was time your family began to loosen the reigns a bit.
“I don’t know, _____.” Lillie finished with your hair, catching your eyes in the mirror, “I promised your parents I would spend the night with you while they’re gone.”
“Ugh, Lil, c’mon.” You gritted through your teeth, “The only thing keeping from the outside world is you guys, not Rafe. It’s been weeks, one night will be fine, & honestly, it may even turn something up if you let me come with you.”
“Even more reason for us not to do it!” She exclaimed, returning to the edge of your bed.
You turned in your seat to face her, “Seriously? You guys can’t do this forever. I can’t be kept on lockdown forever. At some point, you guys are gonna have to back off, & let me live, go out into the fucking world. It’s getting old really quick.”
Lillie remained silent, pondering what you said, but it wasn’t enough. You could tell that she wasn’t getting convinced by anything you were saying.
“Think about it,” You began, “You keep someone from something they really want & eventually they’ll sneak anything behind your back to get it. And guess how often cases like that town out?”
Lillie narrowed her eyes at you, “You’re not gonna change my mind.”
“So then you want me to lie to you? Sneak around? Hmm?”
She inhaled sharply, considering your argument more finely this time. She clicked her tongue, shaking her head, “Maybe. And that’s all I’ll say for now. I’ll talk to your parents about it tonight at dinner.”
You scoffed but shrugged, “Fine. At least it’s something.”
Lillie continued staring at you. You raised your brows, “Will you stop? I’m not weak like her, okay?”
“She wasn’t weak.” Lillie’s voice softened at your insult, “But she did trust the wrong person for too long. And I won’t let you down like he did. I won’t let you down like I did.”
Your hardened heart softened at that, recalling the time she told you about your relationship with Rafe back in your bedroom in the city.
“I’m sorry, Lil.”
She mustered up a smile, shaking her head, “Then just please trust me, okay? I’ll talk to your parents. I don’t want you to feel trapped, let alone by us.”
You nodded your head, a small smile appearing on your face, “Thank you. I promise, if they say yes, the night will be perfect. No Rafe or trouble in sight.”
“Yeah,” She half-laughed unconvinced, “we’ll see about that.”
Tumblr media
It was a little past six in the evening when you, Lillie, & Jozef arrived at your parents’ house for dinner. You had gotten up much earlier than usual to get ready so you were still yawning while you & Lil set the table.
Your mother seemed in a relatively good mood, under the circumstances. In the two years that you had to re-learn her, you learned very early on that she was a social butterfly. Kildare Island & it’s residents were very much her kind of people, especially the women. All of them cared much too deeply about the finer things in life like status, clothing, wine, etc. But since reality came knocking on your door, she began to realize that the finer things in life was her family, your well-being, & spending more time being a present mother. Still though, you could see how excited she was about this dinner.
You sat next to your father who sat at one end of the table. The guests that came were mostly your mother’s friends, your dad not open enough yet to trust anyone in his inner circle. Your mother sat at the other end, speaking jovially so everyone at the table was tuned in to her.
When the guests arrived you were anticipating the usual: stares, whispers, passive aggressive questions about your condition. But much to your surprise, none of them came. They all greeted you warmly. You didn’t care to remember any of their names, even if there was only four of them. You were just relieved to have other people around that wasn’t just your family & friends.
As your mother continued to talk animatedly, you cast a look at your father. He sat quietly, his elbows on the table with his hands covering most of his mouth. His eyes stared aimlessly at the tablecloth. You knew he was troubled with your situation. You wanted to comfort him, tell him he had nothing to worry about. But you couldn’t promise that, you weren’t even sure you could convince him with a fake smile. So, you let him carry on in his quiet solitude.
Lil bumped your shoulder, stealing your attention, “You okay?”
“Hmm? Oh yeah.” You nodded, using your fork to pick around the food on the plate before you, “Fine.”
She didn’t look convinced but she didn’t push. Jozef, who sat across from you, managed to pull your father out of his deep-thoughts, pulling him into a trivial conversation about the country club where he worked. You didn’t listen long, instead allowing your own thoughts to stray to Rafe Cameron.
You wished you could remember him. Even if it was a shitty, horrible, traumatic experience, you wanted to remember it. You felt a desperate need to understand this situation deeper. After all, you had tried to kill yourself because of it, or at least she had tried to kill herself. She was that scared, that ready to be rid of him that she would throw herself into an ocean with 20ft waves, all to escape him.
It was a healthy, necessary fear of the man, one that was evident in your parents & friends. Not being able to relate to them, to be a part of it with them, only left you feeling more isolated.
A small gasp escaped everyone’s mouths at the sound of a doorbell reverberating through the house. Your parents traded looks of concern before you dad rose from his seat, “Please continue. I’ll be back.”
Lillie & you traded looks next, a familiar gut-wrenching twist forming in your stomach. Light conversation continued among your mother’s guests but she too had stopped talking, rising from her seat to follow behind your father.
You excused yourself, tossing a look to Lil for her to stay in her seat, as you quietly followed in your parents’ wake. Out of site from the dinner, you peered around a corner in the hallway, watching as your parents stood at the door. You could just barely make out Edwards’ voice even though you couldn’t see him.
They spoke quietly amongst yourself, but you observed as your mom put a hand to her chest, as she gripped your dad’s forearm. You weren’t sure what to make of the scene without being able to hear what was being said. Your stomach flipped at any possible bad news that Edwards was telling them. After all, he rarely ever had anything good to share.
A moment later, your father shook Edwards hand before closing the door. Your parents embraced one another, your mother apparently crying into his chest as he ran a calming hand over her head. You came out from your hiding spot approaching them.
“Mom? Dad?” They both raised their heads to look at you, “What’s going on?”
A release of breath came from your mom as she removed herself from your dad, crossing the hallway to you. Confused, you let her pull you into her, hugging you tightly.
“That was Edwards.” Your dad shared, joining you & your mother before she released you.
“I know. What did he say? Is Rafe… did they find him?”
They traded knowing looks before turning to you, your mothers hand finding your own, “They did, sweetie.”
They looked more than relieved though, they looked almost ecstatic. But why would they look ecstatic?
“They did find Rafe.” Your dad repeated, a solace expression washing over him that you had never seen before, “And he won’t be bothering you again.”
You waited for the other shoe to drop, knowing there was more being left unsaid.
“So… what? He’s in jail?” You questioned, your eyes dancing between the two of them.
“No, honey.” Your mom began.
“He’s dead.” Your dad finished, “Rafe Cameron is dead.”
Tumblr media
Your parents fought you tooth & nail for wanting to attend Rafe Cameron’s funeral. It wasn’t like you were invited but you needed to see it to believe it.
At a distance where no family or friend of the Cameron’s could spot you, you sat in Edwards car in the backseat with your mother, watching through the tinted windows as a casket was lowered into the ground. An older man & woman stood at the head of it, the woman crying expressionlessly as the man stood eerily still, watching the casket descend further into the earth.
Rafe Cameron, dead. Just like that.
At first you didn’t believe it. How could you? If Rafe’s own parents were willing to hide & protect their psycho son, whose to say they wouldn’t fake his death to ensure he wouldn’t be sought after anymore? But Edwards confirmed the body that washed up on shore Christmas morning was indeed Rafe Cameron: DNA, dental records, & one Ward Cameron’s positive identification.
Your family & friends were relieved. He was gone. For good. You had successfully escaped him.
The details surrounding his death were still being investigated, but according to Edwards own investigation, it was theorized that he overdosed at on a boat he was hiding out on some miles down the way, having fallen overboard & drowned. Edwards said his death would likely be ruled accidental. Open & shut.
But you felt little relief.
Over the last couple days, you watched disassociated as your parents began to smile more, as Lillie began to leave you alone while you showered. Edwards routinely checked in to spare any more details about Rafe’s sudden passing but otherwise, he too looked pleased with how the events turned out.
So why couldn’t you shake the feeling that you were okay? Especially as you watched Rafe’s sisters fall to their knees & cry, as his friends hugged one another. Why, now that he was gone, were you suddenly becoming worried? Where was this worry when he was missing in action?
You inhaled sharply.
“Are you satisfied?” Your mother asked. People began to depart from the gravesite, save for Rafe’s immediate family.
You weren’t. But how else would you be? This is what you wanted. You wanted to be free from him, from your family’s watchful eyes, from Lillie’s overbearing need to always be around you. This was it. But it seemed almost too good to be true.
“I guess.” You muttered, wishing you could march right up to the hole in the ground, rip open the casket, & check for yourself that the man you had called Adrian for months was indeed gone forever.
“Edwards.” Your mom spoke, “Let’s go.”
As the car pulled away from the cemetery, your eyes never left Rafe’s father. He continued to stand impressively still, face expressionless as his only son became buried in the earth.
But then suddenly, Ward Cameron lifted his head. And though he was yards away, & though the windows on Edwards car were well above the legal tint level, & though there was absolutely no way he could see you, Ward Cameron looked directly into your eyes.
And what you saw made your skin crawl. Because what you saw staring back at you was Rafe Cameron. And for the first time since you learned everything about your past, you felt a fearful shudder crawl achingly slow up your spine.
Tumblr media
Jozef & Lillie talked animatedly to one another in the front seat of Jozef’s car. It was New Years & the three of you were going together as a trio to Jozef’s work party at the beach.
Now that Rafe Cameron was gone, your parents had eased their hold on you. Of course, they still had their concerns, especially considering who Rafe Cameron was to you, but it appeared they were also learning that you really weren’t the girl before anymore. So who Rafe Cameron was to you now meant entirely something different to the girl who threw herself into the ocean.
“You’ll have to meet my buddy, Koni, _____. He’s from Charlotte.” Jozef met your eyes in the rearview mirror, “I know it’s not probably the city guy you’re lookin’ for but it’s a start.”
Lillie gently slapped Jozef on the arm, “Jo, quit. We’re not bringing her to set her up. Hello? Have you completely forgotten about the last week?”
“Oh, right.” Jozef smiled apologetically, “Sorry.”
“Don’t be.” You laughed softly, “But Lil is right. I’m in no rush to be dating right now. I just want to have fun & hangout with my friends.”
Lil turned over in her seat to grin at you, “And fun we shall have plenty of.”
The two of you traded smiles.
An hour or so later, you found yourself sitting alone at a table, watching from a distance as Lillie & Jozef danced to the beat of the upbeat party music. It was an open-bar but you stayed far away from the alcohol, instead choosing to drink a virgin cocktail.
“Mind if I join ya?” A voice sounded to your right. You took a sip from your drink, nodding at the person. Koni, Jozef’s friend, grinned at you. He was ridiculously handsome. Under as normal circumstances as you could imagine, you would’ve happily entertained flirtatious banter with him, but you just didn’t have it in you—your thoughts sometimes returning to the blue-eyed liar that swept you off your feet only months prior.
“Not into dancing, huh?” He asked, leaning forward on his elbows towards you, but he still maintained a respectful distance.
You shook your head, cringing at the thought, “No way. Don’t know how to dance, don’t really care to learn.”
“Why’s that?” His dimples distracted you, making you feel disgustingly shy.
“Uh.” You paused, “Because apparently old me did enjoy dancing, & I have a pretty bad habit of wanting to be nothing like her.”
Koni’s frowned in confusion, “I’m sorry, what?”
You went on to explain your condition, the accident that caused it, the nature of your stubbornness. Though you loathed the idea of exposing yourself like so, you resolved that it would always be a part of you, no matter what. Unlike Rafe Cameron, or Adrian for that matter, there was no out-running it. So you stopped trying to hide it away.
“Damn.” Koni sat quietly for a moment, soaking in everything you told him, “So you don’t remember a single thing about your life?”
You shook your head, “Nope.”
“Man,” He laughed softly, “What I wouldn’t give to erase some of my memories. Guess you’re kind of lucky, but only kind of considering how it happened.”
You chuckled at that, “Yeah, you’re right. ‘Kind of’ fits.”
For the next hour, you & Koni stayed chatting at the table, conversation flowing easily. Thankfully, the conversational tone never breached the levels of flirtation. Koni was friendly & appeared genuinely interested in anything you had to say—all without calling you ‘cute’ or subtly checking you out. It was your first normal & honest conversation with someone that wasn’t Lillie or your parents. You internally rejoiced.
Jozef & Lillie joined you two a few minutes later, Jozef clearly having had one too many drinks. Lillie struggled bracing Jozef’s weight. Koni easily took over for her, nodding towards the road where cars were parked, “Heading home?”
Lillie slipped into her sandals, nodding, “Yeah, we oughta.”
“It’s almost midnight, you guys are gonna miss the fireworks.”
“I know, I know.” Lillie admitted, “But if I don’t get this guy into bed soon he’s gonna vomit everywhere & make a fool out of himself in front of his boss & coworkers.” Neither of you could argue with that.
“Are you staying?” Lillie surprised you by asking.
“Oh, uh. I would assume not, you guys are my ride.”
“Right, of course.”
“I could give you ride back.” Koni offered. Lillie & you traded looks before you shrugged, “It’s okay, I don’t really care for fireworks, anyway.”
You lied. You wanted desperately to see them. As someone who valued new beginnings, the start of a new year symbolized by pretty lights in the sky over the endless ocean seemed like an ideal way to end this year.
“_____.” Lillie said your name quietly as Koni began leading Jozef back toward the car, “You can stay. Koni is a good guy. I trust him. And I know how nice it probably is for you to be able to do your own thing now, ya know, considering…”
You sighed, nodding, “Yeah, I know, I just, I dunno. I pushed myself hard once before to move on & look at how that went.” Lillie frowned but nodded in understanding. “I just don’t want history to repeat itself.”
“I get that, believe me!” She laughed, “And I’m obviously not going to abandon you here so if you really want to come back with us then obviously you’re coming. But at least give it the walk back to the car to think about it, okay?”
“Yeah.” You rolled your eyes but were actually quite grateful, “Okay.”
Following behind Koni & Jozef, Lillie & you trekked from the beach through the foliage of trees. The private beach that Jozef’s boss had rented had no official parking lot, just a dirt road off the main road that disappeared into the trees before coming out to the beach.
It was only a couple minutes before the four of you reached the mouth of the trees where Jozef had parked his car. Pulling out the keys from the jacket she was carrying, Lillie unlocked the car & opened the door for Koni to slide Jozef into the backseat. As he got Jozef situated, Lillie turned to you, “Last chance.”
You sighed, pondering it. Your eyes fell to Koni as he carefully buckled Jozef before gently shaking his head, “Get home safe, dude.”
Lillie was right. You had nothing to be afraid of anymore. And while you didn’t want to push yourself, you did feel safe, right then in that moment.
“Okay.” You smiled, “I would actually love to see the fireworks.”
Lillie grinned knowingly, bumping your shoulder, “I knew it. Hey, Koni!”
Koni looked at the two of you, unsure why it sounded like he was about to get in trouble.
“_____ is yours for the next hour. Get her home safely. And keep your hands to yourself.” Lillie joked but you knew there was a seriousness there too beneath her words.
Koni raised his hands in innocence, “Yes ma’am. I would never anyway but you’re scary enough as is.”
Lillie turned to you, a triumphant smile on her features, “Good.” She chirped.
Hopping into the drivers seat, Lillie turned on the engine before rolling down the window. Koni stood a foot away from you as she hollered, “I have her location, Koni. I expect her home before one.”
“Okay, mom.” You shook your head playfully, “Get dad home safely.”
“Yeah, yeah.” She rolled her eyes but waved, “Have fun, kids.”
Koni & you waited until you watched her disappear around the bend. As the two of you began walking, Koni pulled out his phone, “Oh shit.”
“What?” You felt your concern spike suddenly.
“It’s 11:59.” He grabbed your hand gently, “We gotta go if we’re gonna see these damn fireworks.”
Allowing him to lead you at a fast pace through the trees, you tried to keep up with him. Like him, you too wanted to see those damn fireworks. The sound of the party was getting closer, signaling that you two were almost through the trees when suddenly Koni fell.
“Ah, fuck.” He groaned out as you came to halt beside him. A tree root was sticking out from the earth, having caught his foot.
“Are you okay?” You covered your mouth, not wanting to laugh at his predicament. But he seemed to recognize what you were doing & sarcastically responded, “Oh yeah, laugh at the guy that was trying to help you, I see how it is.”
“Sorry.” You pressed your lips together. Koni faked a pout making you laugh, “C’mon, take my hand.”
Just as Koni reached his hand up to take yours, a sudden thwack sounded to your left, making you jump & fall to your side. It took a second too long to realize what had happened. Koni lied at your feet on his back, unconscious, having been struck on the head by an assailant.
A silent scream escaped your open mouth as another blow hit him on the head followed by another. Your turned your face away, covering your ears at the sound of Koni getting beat repeatedly. It was only when the sound stopped that you realized your dilemma.
Slowly, & with blurry vision, you turned to see a silhouette standing over Koni’s body, a bat hanging loosely from their hand.
They didn’t need to turn around for you to know exactly who it was. Rushing to your feet, you took off for the beach party but didn’t get very far when a strong arm circled your waist, pulling you off your feet.
A loud boom erupted the night followed by a bright pink light in the sky just as you screamed.
Rafe pulled you further into the trees, your screams drowned out by fireworks exploding. No one would hear you.
You beat against his arm, trying to release yourself from his hold.
One of Rafe’s hands harshly gripped the back of your head, yanking a fist-full of hair, forcing your head back at an ungodly painful angle. All you could make out was the fireworks above the trees & the top of Rafe’s head as he leaned over you.
“Look baby.” He looked to the sky, “They’re exploding just for you, for us.”
A hot, wet unwanted kiss pressed against your cheek, causing you to squeal & squirm against Rafe. But Rafe wouldn’t let go.
“Remember our thanksgiving dinner. I know you do.”
For a moment, you didn’t, & you knew that he knew you didn’t. But then you did remember it. The dinner you two had in the city, back when he was Adrian, right before you allowed him into your bed.
A firework lit up & danced across the sky. Your vision blurred from the tears.
“Rafe, please don’t.”
He pulled you tightly against him, his hand finding your throat as his other covered your mouth & nose, “To new beginnings, _____.”
Survivor’s Remorse (VII)
Part Seven
NSFW| 18+| Death
Part 8
Tumblr media
I watched Peeta dozing almost peacefully with his gun across his lap. I'd been rather captivated by a small bead of sweat that'd escaped the curls at the nape of his neck. It was traveling down his neck in a snake dance down the column of his throat, down around his Adams apple to rest in his collar bone. Then I feel an instinct awake within me that forces me to my feet. I quirk my sharp ears and focus down the shaft trying to get used to the night vision these eyes give me. I needed it right now. Something was very wrong. Then I feel it on the nape of my neck, just behind my ear, tickling an aggression within me I didn't know existed. It made me want to rip something apart. It was a pure malicious wave that rolled through some part deep inside of me.
"Peeta"
It's a hiss. A vicious malevolent hiss.
"Everybody, get up now!" I whisper as loudly as I can while tugging my restraints against the bar
They're on their feet in seconds.
"What? What is it?" Peeta asks releasing me from the bar before the hiss comes again
"Peeta"
"Mutts" I gasp fighting the mania filling me with a scorching rage that I knew was not my own "What's the fastest way out to the street?" There's no way they haven't flooded the underground with them. We need to get to the streets now. I direct my gaze to Polluck. "Quickly!"
Polluck directs us forward and as we run, I hear the screams. Avoxes.
"They're killing anything they can get their hands on trying to find us" Gale pants
Johnson is snatched and that's when I get a good look of the mutt. Ashen white, limbs unnaturally long that lead down to sharp claws for hands. No faces but wide mouths full of razor-sharp teeth.
"Finn my claws!" I snarl to him at my left, mapping out our escape routes as we can
He doesn't even have to look anymore as he deftly unhooks them and frees my nails, extending the middle so I could spread my arms as far as my outer hips. It's all the give I would need.
Mutt to mutt. Bring it on.
As we run, we spot the ladder and Pollux quickly begins to climb. Peeta and Gale are right behind him. They're coming from all four tunnels. We're going to be overrun. Messalla is viciously dragged from beside Katniss and it distracts a horde of them. Katniss fires two quick incendiary arrows into opposite tunnels sending an explosion that rips through everything in them. It makes me wish I had mine so I could help her clear them out but my hands still couldn't hold one properly yet.
I can hear Peeta screaming at me to keep climbing but then I see Finnick, surrounded. He's holding his own as Katniss fires at everything around him, until one gets its teeth on his shoulder and yanks him backwards toward two more. Not Finnick!
"No!"
I hurl my body back down the hole right on top of it, wrapping the cord around its throat and yanking backwards so its head is sawed clean off, throwing my leg out behind me to kick one of the others. I throw the headless body into the confused horde who swoop down it. I shove Finnick towards the ladder before throwing myself at another reaching for him, my teeth clamping around its throat, the claws on both of my hands gripping the heads of the two that'd been aiming for Katniss. Its nails caught her arm instead of her throat as I yank it back.
They want to see a true mutt I'll give them one!
I'm blinded with a violent fury. A fierce protective instinct takes out more of them than I care to count as I use the mutt programmed rage and power to propel myself forward. My claws find throats while my teeth rip off limbs, dishing out venom with every chomp as I shove my way to the ladder, not needing to see as I reacted off instinct and reflex.
I have to get them out!
I grab Katniss around the waist and practically throw her halfway up the ladder. I snatch Finnick's trident and hurl it, with strength I didn't know I possessed, down the hall successfully pinning at least ten of them to it like a shish-ka-bob. Their blood is disgusting. I fill my mouth with my saliva, spitting as much of it as I could out.
"Fucking climb!" I snarl at her before doing the same to Finnick who is losing way too much blood.
I begin to climb with them, pushing Finnick upwards as his strength begins to wane.
"Eyes open Finnick! You're almost there!"
I feel a tug at my leg but just barely through my adrenaline and bloodlust. I kick hard enough to hear a loud crack beneath me. I can see Gale and Pollux yank Katniss to safety. As I push Finnick up with my right hand, Gale is back with Peeta and they haul him up together.
I got them out. I'm so relieved.
"Blow the holo!" I cry out loudly
Peeta is reaching for me now, his eyes wide and desperate. I hear the hisses of his name not 5 feet below me and as I look up at all the faces shouting at me, gesturing me forward...I realize I've done it. They're all together.
Safe.
I'm not like them anymore. No longer a Victor. Just a mutt who survived. Like those wrapping their claws around my ankle. I belong here. They don't. I look into Peeta's warm face one last time, tears spilling over my cheeks as I give him a smile, and his eyes go wide as he realizes what I have decided.
I let go.
First Glance (Part Seven)
Tumblr media
Procrastinate as you both may, eventually you both had to face what the Council had in mind as a punishment for your guys' sudden actions. When you both boarded the ship in order to go back to Coruscant, Anakin stayed as close to you as possible. "I'm going to take responsibility," He advises you. "You don't have to pay for what I did." You scoff, your eyes burning into his. "Who said I didn't want to take some blame?" He glares at you almost immediately, but his eyes inform you that you might've went too far. "What? Why would you want to do that?"
"What do you mean, 'why'? Because I agreed to go with you. That makes me responsible for myself, so why would I just hide behind you and make myself look like a victim when I'm not?" Anakin's gaze darts away, as he processes what you say. As you gaze out the windows, at all the near and far systems and planets, Anakin finds himself deep into a sea of thought. The thoughts of losing you, losing the special relationship between you because of his need to have gone and found his mother. Was it worth it? Was it? The ship landed at Coruscant not too long after his train of thoughts, and you both had to face repercussions.
Stepping off the ship, and beginning the anticipating walk into the Jedi Temple, Anakin had to make sure the two of you weren't presumed to have run off to escape the Jedi Order. Entering the Temple, and meeting the heavy and stress-inducing gaze of the many Jedi Masters. "Young Y\N and young Skywalker..." Began your master, Mace Windu, his eyes resembling steel as they rested upon the two of you. Yoda's eyes, however, went to your guys' clothing. "Gone to another planet, you have. Where?"
Anakin steps forward. "To Tatooine, Master." Yoda nods and leans back. From the corner of your eye, you can visibly see Obi-Wan's eyes scanning the rest of the Jedi Master's body language and facial expressions. "And why?" You remain silent, under the words of Anakin and the Council. "Because I was having nightmares of my mother, Master. I suspected she was in danger." Your eyes immediately go to study what the Council, specifically Obi-Wan, Yoda and Windu thought of Anakin's words. "So you decided to bring Y\N with you? To potentially endanger her because you suspected your mother was in danger?" Questioned Windu. Anakin nodded. "Wait, wait, Master, he simply asked me if I would like to come and I didn't deny him!"
Windu's, Yoda's and the entire Council's eyes, followed by Anakin's eyes snapped to you. "Why?" Obi-Wan demanded quickly, his eyes focused intently upon you. "Because it's what a friend would do. A friend would offer comfort to someone when they need it. That's what I did." Yoda smiled a bit and then met your gaze. "That, dear padawan, is admirable." Windu nodded slightly. "Of course. But, Y\N, you need to understand that it is not of a Jedi to just up and leave. Especially you." With a heavy and audible sigh, you fought to keep from bursting out again, unfortunately, your will was broken quickly. "But aren't the Jedi supposed to comfort and protect? To give up what they have in order to be what someone needs? Aren't we selfless? And compassionate?" You argue fiercely, and while it was a seemingly steady argument, it fell to deaf ears.
"The punishment in which you both will be receiving respectably will be the inability to see each other, and to see anyone else for an undecided time. For you, Y\N, you will be resuming training to take the trials but shall not be allowed on missions until told so." Windu explained to you, his eyes both serious but understandably embittered. You sigh softly but nod at his words, knowing you had to face the consequences at some point.
"Well, Anakin. The punishment for you and your actions is to go back to the basics of the Force and what it means to be a Jedi, followed by a setback in your taking the trials." Sighed Obi-Wan as he faced his padawan. Anakin's body language, as he stood with his arms by his sides and his eyes darting patiently from each Jedi Master and whomever is speaking, but his head was noticeably hung, as if he was embarrassed. "Very well then. The meeting is adjourned." Announced Yoda as he stood up from his seat, followed by the rest of the Masters. With a heavy heart and swallowing a most bitter pill, you sweep back to your room, dressing back into your standard given Jedi robes and replacing your lightsaber on your hip. Glaring at the mirror, you were faced with the reality of your problems. Now, you couldn't see Anakin for however long and you were blocked from going on missions.
Meanwhile, Anakin was faced with his punishment while he was gazing at the door to your room. He purposely took the route to your bedroom to see you a last time, but upon the obvious closed door, he decided to just make his way to his quarters. Of course he should've considered the danger he put you in, but it never seemed like he was openly placing you in danger, rather placing you in his care, and him in yours. Was it wrong of him to take you with him? Yes, to the Council but it seemed to have so much more depth than a simple yes.
It felt like he needed the care and the comfort of you in such a way it made him feel like he was obligated to have you accompany him. But was that wrong? What was he feeling when he was around you? Simple friendship or was it something more? No, that couldn't happen. You both were Jedi trainees, with a close bond, but it was not like he felt attached to you. Or maybe he did? What else could explain how he kept coming back to you since the night you both met? He needed to know.
Anyway, general episode 7 thoughts:
Appreciate that we see that POW camp life isn't the grimmest thing in existence, but it is still terrifying and awful. The Germans were as ruthless as they could possibly get away with to their POWs, Geneva convention or no.
Hearing about the Great Escape in a real-life way--how badly it all went, the repercussions of it happening--is a sort of necessary heartbreak. Look, I fucking love that movie. But the truth is, it was a fucking shit show and the survivors were so fucking lucky I can't even tell you.
Every conversation Bucky and Buck had was fantastic. Raw and honest but still very them. The way they try to look out for the men is amazing.
I'm glad Crosby found a way to feel like a human being in the middle of everything by starting an affair with Sandra. That's all any of them are trying to do with the dancing and drinking and fucking and gambling. Plenty of dudes who went home to their wives after the war and were faithful and devoted before and after fucked around during. Because it was terrifying and traumatizing, and they were discouraged from seeking any sort of help by societal expectations of men and also by their own COs (remember, Harding walked in during ep 4 and mocked the idea that his boys needed downtime to recover from bombing people and nearly dying all the time).
Also, if you think Sandra has been turned into "only" a sex object because she's shown fucking Crosby, the problem ain't the script, it's your weird fucking rules about when a woman can be interesting and fleshed out (not fucking) and when she's badly written (fucking).
I am ready-not-ready for the next ep. You know what I mean.
My Saturn
Millions of miles away from her sun, my Saturn is always cold.
Embraced by her rings
She is out of of reach for any warmth she herself cannot generate.
Any warmth she has, she keeps close to her core.
Surrounding herself in clouds snd rings, she does not need the affection of the Sun, for she can warm herself.
My Saturn, dazzling, in all her beauty. Well over one hundred lovers circling her, each in awe of her superlunary.
With her rings, and her admirers, my Saturn only needs her sun to illuminate her own beauty.
When you came, he pulled out, and you noticed he hadn't came yet. "Do you need some help with that?" You asked, pointing to his still rock hard cock
"Yeah, if your offering..~" he answered as he leaned back.
You crawled in-between his legs and started slowly stroking his cock "ah.. f-faster, doll..~" he said with a hot moan, you didn't do as he told you to but instead you kissed his length and put your mouth around his tip, making him throw his head back a little with a moan.
You started sucking his cock while stroking it slowly, he moaned as he ran his fingers through your hair and praising you "mh.. good girl..~ thats it, keep going..~"
You stroked him a little faster and he threw his head back a little more as you did so, his moans were hot and lewd.
You decided you wanted to try deep throating him, you tried to fit his whole length in your mouth and he let out a loud moan, obviously liking it a lot
You gagged on his big cock as you deep throated him.
Soon you felt a warm liquid fill your mouth, you swallowed it all, not leaving a single drop.
When you had swallowed all his cum, you pulled his cock out of your mouth and kissed him, making him get a little taste of himself
You broke the kiss after a few seconds "did you taste yourself?" You asked with a smirk "Yeah, a little bit.. hm.. your such a good girl, Y/N.. heh.. I'd even say your amazing, doll..~"
You both laid down on the bed a little tired, after a while you decided to watch the movie you were supposed to watch earlier.
Fear pt. 7
TEETH ROTTING AMOUNT OF SWEETNESS.
I literally fell more in love as I wrote this uhflahfuhuhu
part 6, masterlist
sweetness and fluff, sort of confessions, light cursing, just pure sweetness
Pt 7.
Her hands were on me, carelessly driving me crazy with desire.
I laid her back on the soft ground, sweet grass mingled with her familiar scent.
I think she’s been using my soap.
“Y/N...I” I started, in something that could only be described as a whisper so soft that it hardly existed.
“Yes, Din”
Her doe eyes bore holes into me and the way my name looked on her mouth as she formed it was quite truly one of the most beautiful things that I have ever been lucky enough to witness.
“Im glad you stayed”
 And I’m in love with you , I want you in my bed and I want to tangle my fingers in your hair
“Me too.” She stated with a soft smile.
Heat rose through my body; I’d swear to you that it warmed my armor to the touch. I was too nervous to say anything more and I just sat there, staring at her.  her.
She reached up and traced the lines of my helmet. My breath hitched, and she apologized.
“No...  no, it’s okay” I replied, taking her withdrawn hand in mine and letting her trace more.
We sat like that for a long while. In silence. Blissful silence, someplace that we didn’t have to listen to blaster fire or avoid anyone. It was just us. Completely.
Thats when fear and insecurity set in. If I fell anymore for her, I’d reach the point of no return, fuck, lord knows I already have. I’d get her killed. I was reckless and dangerous. She was purity, even if she only saw herself as a bounty hunter. I could see through the rough exterior and saw the gentleness in her.
I had been watching her the night we met, before I ever came up to her.
I was in that bar for a reason.
When I watched her walk the streets of Tatooine and pick up a small Childs toy, help an elderly shop keep, and nod at other people... I couldn’t help but test my morals and wonder if I really wanted to bring this person in. Of course, then, I thought I was stalking a ruthless man of a killer. All the stories and comments I had to go on to find her... they all described her as a man. It was only a mask, and to me, that had more meanings than one.
Her bounty was high and it wasn’t until I realized that she was wanted by an imperial sergeant that I had made my mind up. She wasn’t deserving of the criminality that surrounded her. If the empire hated her... I had no choice but to at least respect her. Let alone fall in love with her
With the fear of our reality setting in, I shifted away from her and stood up, making my way back to the ship.
“Where are you going?” She called out, kind but concerned.
The suns were beginning to set and the way it hit her skin... it was nothing but pure grace personified.
“Im sorry...but I dont think we should do this.”
“Do what” she asked in the most genuine tone, now jogging to reach my side. Her side of me.
I realized I may have just fucked up... did I read everything wrong? Could she not feel the same-
“Din”, her small hand on my shoulder made me wince as if it hurt physically when it really just hurt to have someone as good as her touch me so kindly. So warmly.
“Din, we don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. Do you not want to stay here any longer?”
I couldn’t help but chuckle at her innocence and genuine concern for what I wanted to do.
“No...thats not what I meant” I trailed off, but she didn’t push me. She was too kind.
I couldn’t even touch myself to the thought of her anymore, it felt disrespectful. If I were to use her like that... it’d be with my hands on her instead of me.
///////////////
I couldn’t tell if I was terrified or it made me fall deeper to think that he was feeling the same things I was... but I was too terrified to bring it up any further. I just walked next to him, testing the waters by letting my hand graze his.
He seemed to instinctively flex his hand every time mine met his.
We were aimless wanderers in this unexplored wilderness, both our hearts and surroundings.
I put up the act that I was an expert... I could flirt my way out of anything.... But no ones ever made my heart race like he does.
I’ve never even been with another person, really. I had a few flings, touches, kisses, but I never let them come back with me.
Everyone felt wrong before him.
I’d never been in love before but I think this was close. It had to be.
“Din” I said, breaking the silence. I couldn’t stop saying his name since I heard it “Im glad you came into the bar earlier, to stop that man.... I know why you did now. Why you really did.”
He stopped, “You do?”
“I do.”
He didn’t push it like how I didn’t push him.
He just grabbed my hand.
12:08 PM
            It had been three days since Lloyd had his way with you. And surprisingly enough, he hadn’t followed through on his end of the deal thus far. The end where after you’re done with Gracie you go to ‘take care of him’, as he so pridefully put. You were relieved that you were spending your days with Gracie, well into the night as well since you would sometimes fall asleep with her. But you never evaded that overwhelming sense that Lloyd would be making up for time lost. Still though, you tried not to think about it too often, instead focusing on Gracie.
            Currently, the two of you were in the kitchenette hut. Another surprise of yours was that Lloyd allowed you a lot of freedom when it came to Gracie. He had Doherty take down a list of items you would need for her: from educational supplies to food to things she could do for fun. For Gracie’s sake you couldn’t have been more happier considering the circumstance. You only hoped that there was an end to it.
            Lunch for today was a salad, strawberries, & grilled salmon. Gracie sat at the table, reading out loud a book from the Magic Tree House series. You listened intently to her sounding out the words as you prepped lunch. Wanda would be proud. Though you weren’t nearly as much of a cook as she had been, you had learned a thing or two in the years you spent working alongside one another. Your heart fell at her memory. You hoped to escape so you could give her son & his family the closure you imagine they were looking for.
            You finished lunch, placing the salmon on a bed of spinach before bringing it all to Gracie. She smiled gratefully, sliding her book away from her, “Ooh.” She giggled, hungrily jabbing a fork into the salmon. You chuckled at her actions.
            When you sat down next to her, staring absent-mindedly at the table, Gracie frowned, swallowing her food before talking, “What’s wrong, _____? Aren’t you hungry?”
            Truth is, you were. Very hungry. But you had no appetite. You knew you should be forcing yourself to eat so you could have strength & energy, & most of the time you did, but in that moment, you couldn’t stomach anything that you made.
            You shrugged, “I’ll eat later. Not very hungry right now.”
            Gracie clearly wanted to say more but left it alone, focusing on her own food. You glanced around then, of course spotting Doherty nearby as he patrolled around the perimeter of the hut. You could see the outline of a gun tucked under his shirt in the back of his pants. He kept his eyes straight ahead as he walked but you could sense that he was watching the both of you in his peripheral. Always.
            You contemplated how you could get him to talk. You had seen very little of Lloyd’s other men, Doherty being pretty much the only man you ever saw. And unfortunately for you, he appeared very tough, strict, dedicated. You recalled how Lloyd told you that his men never did anything without his say. The likelihood that you could win Doherty over was non-existent, that much you knew. Which made your planning for escape that much harder.
            Any plan you had developed anyway had quickly fallen apart. You didn’t know the area, you didn’t have a mode of transportation or a means to contact someone on the outside. It wasn’t like you were trained for anything like this. The only thing you could do was keep you & Gracie alive while being held hostage, & hope an opportunity to escape presented itself.
            A sudden shout of frustration sounded behind you. Both you & Gracie turned to face the appearance of Lloyd as he came stomping out from a nearby tree-line. He wore a tight black top, tucked into cream-colored pants. The way he dressed you could picture him more at a tropical resort rather than a tropical forest. You hoped he was uncomfortable with his choice of attire.
            “Doherty!” He called to the tall blond man.
            You watched as Doherty & Lloyd met halfway in the opening between huts & trees. Doherty never had his back to the two of you as he spoke to Lloyd. From where they stood you couldn’t make anything out. Gracie was watching too. You turned to her, smiling so she wouldn’t worry like you were. You gestured to her plate, “You have eat up as much as you can.”
            She frowned, looking once more at the men, before turning her attention back to her plate. You sighed softly, watching the men in the corner of your eye. Lloyd was angry. Real angry. He spoke in a hushed tone but his face was growing red. Doherty expressionlessly nodded to whatever he was saying. Then Lloyd gestured in your direction. You felt your heart stumble. That couldn’t be a good sign…
            Doherty looked past him, meeting your eyes briefly. Then Lloyd reached into his pants pocket, pulling out what looked to be a set of keys. He then went to walk away before returning back to Doherty, saying something once more. Finally he slipped a large pair of shades onto his face & disappeared in the direction he came from.
            Your stomach churned at what the keys may lead to. And the fact that he gestured to you & Gracie before handing them to Doherty. You had a bad feeling…
            Doherty suddenly appeared to your left, quiet & nimble as always. He stared down at you, cocking his head for you to stand up. You felt your brows furrow, but didn’t dare question him.
            “Gracie.” You announced, gently touching her shoulder, “Bring your food, honey. We’re going back to your hut.”
            Of course, Doherty said nothing as he led the two of you through the trees. It was at the same time that Gracie said something that you noticed it as well.
             “_____, this isn’t the way to my hut.”
            You felt your heart stammer within your chest. But you couldn’t show any fear, not with Gracie depending on you. You swallowed a dry lump, giving her a reassuring smile, one that you knew even she wouldn’t buy, “It’s okay. It’s probably just another hut for the two of us.”
            A minute later, you were unsure if you should’ve been worried or relieved that you had been right. Indeed it was another hut, but unlike the others, this one was much more isolated. The surrounding bush life & trees were much thicker, & further away from the other huts. Doherty stepped up onto the porch, producing the keys he had been given by Lloyd. He unlocked the double doors before stepping to the side.
            “What’s going on?” You questioned, not quite ready to step inside the hut with Gracie without knowing more.
Doherty met your eyes but said nothing, his face remaining the same stoic expression it always carried. You quickly surmised you would get nothing from him.
“Just tell me everything is okay.” You lowered your voice, not wanting Gracie to hear. But your attention was quickly taken over with Gracie racing forward into the hut.
“_____, _____! There’s a swing!”
Forgetting your attempt of getting an answer out of Doherty, you hurriedly followed behind her. Stepping inside, it was clear that this hut was bigger than yours & Gracie’s combined. The bottom floor was black tiled, with a single full size bed in the corner. Around to the right was a small kitchen along the wall & a small table with two chairs. Beyond the kitchen was a set of doors that led to an enclosed opening. It was there that you found Gracie lying happily on a hammock tied between two trees.
“Gracie!” You hissed worriedly, “You cannot run off like that, okay? We’re still not entirely safe.”
She frowned, but nodded, “I know. I just miss playing like this.”
You sighed, mustering a weak smile. As she swung lazily in the hammock, you walked along the edge of the enclosure. The wall was just slightly taller than you, the trees on the other side quite a bit more so. It was eerily private. Even Doherty didn’t follow the two of you in. Peering back inside, you notes the doors to the hut were closed.
“Where’s your food?” You questioned, suddenly realizing that Gracie didn’t have her plate of food anymore, “You need to eat it all.”
“I did.” She responded.
“I’ll be right back.” You told her, “Hollar if you need me, alright?”
Gracie hummed to herself as you went back inside. Just pass the entry doors, you observed her plate of mostly eaten food on the kitchen counter. You opened the fridge, surprised to see plenty of food stocked within. But you wondered just why? A new hut, completely removed from the other huts, plenty of food. It all led you to believe you would be here for quite some time.
Checking on Gracie once more, you ventured through the hut. In your race to follow behind Gracie, you had completely missed a staircase that led to a second floor. Ascending it slowly, you were slightly taken aback to find that it was only an open air balcony, much like the one you had woken up on when you first arrived here. But this one was much smaller. And unlike the other one, you couldn’t see much in any direction. Plant life was much too thick, not allowing you to assess where exactly you were.
Back on the main floor, Gracie still lied on the hammock. You recalled her book, knowing it must have been left behind. Something innate told you that you’d be here for some time & wanted to ensure that Gracie had her things to keep her schedule as on track as possible. Though this was a nightmarish reality, you wanted her to pretend that it was just a temporary home away from home. She needed regularity.
You approached the front doors, going to pull them open when they jolted stiffly. You tried once more. They were locked. You knocked on them loudly.
“Doherty.” You called through the door, knowing he wouldn’t have just left. He was yours & Gracie’s eagle-eyed guard after all. “Doherty, we need Gracie’s things.”
No sound came from the other side, not even a shoe scuffle to signify that he was indeed there. You pressed your ear to the door, listening intently, but still nothing. You groaned softly. Absolutely nothing about the predicament you were in had been ideal in the last couple weeks but being completely isolated, even from the bad guys, didn’t make you feel any better.
Unfortunately, there were no windows that faced the front to aid you in seeing where Doherty was, if he was even nearby. But you couldn’t imagine he had wandered far…
Outside, Gracie was now sitting up in the hammock, a forlorn look on her face.
“Hey, what’s going on?” You asked, placing a comforting hand on her back.
“I miss dad.” She spoke softly, “He hasn’t called.”
“I know, I know.” You agreed, “This isn’t like normal, like what we’re used to. But I’ve spoken to him.”
Gracie glanced up at you wide-eyed, hopeful, “You have?!”
“Yeah.” You smiled softly, trying to forget the last time you had actually seen him over the laptop screen in Lloyd’s bunker, “He’s okay.”
Gracie sniffled, rubbing at her eyes to prevent herself from crying.
“It’s okay, Gracie.” You reminded her, “I know this is scary & you want your dad but this will soon be over. You’ll see him real soon.”
“You promise?” Her voice quivered.
“I promise.” You offered your pinky, which she took, tightening her own small finger around it. “Before you know it, we’ll be back home, & your dad will read to you every night before bed.”
Gracie hugged you then. You wrapped your arms around her, feeling her body shake. You fluttered your eyes closed, picturing the two of you seeing Raj again. How happy Gracie will be, how relieved Raj would be.
You pulled her tighter against, afraid that if you let go too soon, then the dream would disappear, too.
6:48 PM
            It was almost Gracie’s bed time when you heard the creak of the front doors. The bed in the corner was just out of sight. You were sitting on it, waiting for Gracie to finish up in the bathroom off to the right. When the doors creaked open, you stood, automatically standing between the bathroom door & whoever was coming through. But you already had an idea of who it would be…
            As you suspected, Lloyd appeared. But unlike other times he always appeared before you, there was no smile on his face. No, this Lloyd was royally pissed, & it was clear he intended to take it out on you.
            Immediately, you took a step back, “What’s going on?”
            He cocked his head, fast approaching you, a mirthful displeased smirk gracing his lips, “Where’s the brat?”
            You braced yourself against the door, blocking him, though you knew it would likely be futile, “Why?”
            Lloyd easily shoved you out of the way, but not without you yanking on his arms to deter him. He shoved you harder, forcing you to land ungracefully against the side of the bed. The wind had been knocked briefly from you. You stood on shaky legs as he swung the bathroom door open.
            Gracie stood at the sink, her finger in her mouth since there had not been a toothbrush waiting for her. She stared wide-eyed & scared at Lloyd as his large figure filled the doorframe.
            “Lloyd!” Your voice uneven. What was he doing?
            You attempted to squeeze into the bathroom but he held you back with his arm, easily blocking you.
            “Come with me, kid.”
            “What? No!”
            Lloyd harshly grabbed Gracie by the upper arm, dragging her from the bathroom. She began to cry, resisting his pull. When you reached for her, & her you, he threw Gracie over his shoulder like she was a sack of potatoes.
            “Lloyd, goddamnit!” You screamed after him, “You swore you wouldn’t hurt her!”
            You grabbed the closest thing you could find, which happened to be a candlestick holder on a table at the foot of the bed. Without thought or concern, you chucked it at his back. With a solid thud & clank, it hit Lloyd in the center between his shoulder blades. The candlestick was much heavier than you had anticipated.
            Following your assault though, Lloyd hissed, spinning around quickly. Gracie was like a non-threatening fly on his shoulder, punching him with her little fists as he fast approached you. In a second, he had a vice-like hold on your throat, throwing you up against the nearest wall. You clawed at his hand, feeling the air in your lungs get blocked right away.
            Lloyd glared hotly down at you, “One more fucking thing like that & I’ll break every single one of her fingers.”
            You winced, pleading with your eyes, but you saw that there was no reasoning with his man.
            “Don’t—hurt her.” You managed to force out. Lloyd seethed at you through gritted teeth, “Then don’t make me.”
            With that, he tossed you to the side. You landed painfully on your knees. When he turned on you once again, Gracie stared at you with tear-filled eyes. You nodded at her once, “You’ll be okay, I promise, Gracie!”
            Then Lloyd disappeared with her, the doors slamming shut behind them. And suddenly you were alone, feeling nauseous & helpless.
Tumblr media
7:06 AM
            You fought sleep all night, but eventually succumbed to it. It wasn’t until the alarm on your watch that Lloyd had granted you disturbed you, waking you from a deep sleep. You were on the bed, & as your eyes blearily took in your surroundings, you realized Gracie hadn’t come back.
            You quickly rose from the bed, speed-walking to the front doors. You pulled on them, but again they did not give. You knocked endlessly. Pounding & screaming against the doors. Every horror-story scenario flashed through your mind. Gracie trapped in a chair in a bunker. Her body buried in some shallow grave in the forest. Every possible horrible thing that could happen to her flooded your thoughts. You wouldn’t stop pounding on the door until you saw her again.
            You weren’t pounding for much longer when you finally heard distant footfalls. They grew closer, foliage crunching under the steps. You jumped back, blindly finding the candlestick you had thrown at Lloyd the previous night. Raising it to just beside your head, holding it like a baseball bat, you left enough room between yourself & the doors. You didn’t believe in a god, but you prayed mercilessly that Gracie would walk through the door.
            Unfortunately, it was the last person you wanted to see.
            Doherty stood just ahead of you, staring fearlessly at you. Your eyes fell to his hands. He carried no weapon, except for the one you knew to be in the back of his pants.
            “Where’s Gracie?” You questioned, your voice as exhausted as you felt. You held the candlestick tightly, never lowering it.
            Doherty glared at the object before narrowing his eyes at you.
            “I swear I’ll bash your head in. Tell me where she is!”
            He cocked his head at that, blatantly unperturbed by your threat. But ultimately, he turned his back on you, slowly descending the porch steps, leaving the doors wide open. You frowned. Slowly, you approached. You watched as he stopped at the bottom of the stairs, clearly waiting for you. You held your breath, warily stepping through the threshold.
            There was no one else in sight. Just you & the unsettlingly quiet man.
            You ended up lowering the candlestick, but still held it tightly.
            Following behind Doherty, he began to lead you through the forest. The pit in your stomach continue to churn. It was beginning to become a normal feeling. One that you hoped you would never feel again. But until then…
            As Doherty led you, you began to recognize the surroundings. It wasn’t outright familiar, but you had definitely been there before. It was just before you got to the opening that you knew exactly where you were heading. As Doherty breached the tree-line, you paused in your movement, shaking your head.
            “Tell me where Gracie is or I run off in the trees. I’m fast, & you’ll lose me.”
            Doherty looked at you, shaking his head, “You’re no faster than a bullet.” It was your first time ever hearing his voice, & it was as deeply disturbing as he carried himself to be. His Irish accent was thick, but full of promise.
            “And we both know you won’t leave without the little girl.”
            You swallowed. He was right. You bit your lip in frustration.
            “Bring the candlestick if you want. Whatever makes you feel safest.”
            With that, he approached the mound you had entered once before. Doherty unlatched the door, swinging it open. You stayed standing still, your breathing coming in uneven pants.
            “Just tell me she’s okay…” You couldn’t help the fearful tears that watered your vision.
            Doherty held the door open wider, his face expressionless.
            And without saying another word, you knew what he was saying—
            There is only one way to find out.
Sorry for the wait, ya'll. I ended up writing a whole ass poetry collection completed with art by moi & am looking to get it published. My sister & her family also surprised everyone by showing up to town for a week so that has kept me busy as well.
Now that I'm back, I hope you enjoy this filler chapter. Honestly, I'm not much feeling The Agenda Today anymore. I've kind of lost inspiration for it. However, I'll still be finishing as I don't like to leave anything unfinished, but I did want to warn that it may not be my best work.
Anyway, as always, please share with me your thoughts! Asks, reblogs, comments are always much appreciated. Perhaps someone on here can convince me why this story deserves my best?
Thank you for reading!
