Drabble: Naked

Ivory Grimes is having a moment. Which is a delicate way of putting it; she's locked herself in the bathroom and has been in there for the past hour. Misty understands why the young woman excused herself. She, too, would want to wash the blood off, to reflect on what she had done. For an hour, though? Perhaps if this were the first, second – third person that Ivory had killed. But it isn't. And she is not the only one covered in the remnants of their crimes.

Sweat clings to her scalp, to her clothes; she can still smell dirt and the metallicity of fresh blood. After sitting in filth for an hour, the necrophile gives up on waiting. She throws soiled clothing into the washing machine and turns the cycle to speed wash. Normally, she would shower while her clothes wash – given that she does not keep spare clothing here, despite that she should. Devoid of that option, she decides to read to pass the time.

Approximately eighteen minutes later, the washing machine beeps, and she moves from the couch to transfer her damp clothing into the dryer. She settles down in the same spot as before, tucking one arm behind her head and bending her legs, which she then uses to prop her book against. Not even a page-turn later, the bathroom door opens. Ivory audibly shuffles into the hallway, cloaked in an oversized hoodie that almost hides the pajama bottoms she wears; her face is red and puffy from crying.

❝ Misty? ❞

❝ May I use the bathroom now? ❞

The response draws Ivy toward the living room. ❝ Yeah, ❞ she answers weakly, rubbing at tired eyes as she enters the room. ❝ I think I used– ❞ The words fall out of her mouth as her mouth falls open, and for a moment, she just gawks. Quickly, it turns to stammering and a vibrant red filling in an already splotchy face; she covers her eyes. ❝ Misty! Why are you naked?! ❞

To that, the embalmer sits up, entirely unbothered by her own nudity. ❝ My clothes needed washed, and I have nothing else to wear. ❞

❝ You could have borrowed something from my dresser! ❞

❝ I may have if you stayed in the bathroom any longer. ❞

❝ Well, I'm done now, ❞ Ivy says, gesturing toward the hall with her unoccupied hand. There is a short pause as she stutters. ❝ I think I used all of the hot water. So you know. ❞

❝ That's fine. ❞ The book is closed and tossed onto the coffee table with a quiet thud. Misty approaches her partner-in-crime and, once standing in front of her, pushes her hand away. ❝ There's no need to be dramatic, Ivory. ❞

❝ I– ❞ Ivy glances down despite every neuron in her brain telling her otherwise, and she instantly loses the ability to speak.

Misty simply rolls her eyes and continues walking toward the bathroom. ❝ You're too modest, Dr. Grimes. ❞ Stopping in the doorway, she looks back and says, ❝ It's nothing you haven't seen before. ❞

Oh, Ivory Grimes disagrees. But the bathroom door shuts, so, even if she could vocalize her disagreement, it would not be heard. She is left to sit with her thoughts – shocked, salacious thoughts. The man she murdered mere hours ago is forgotten, and she thinks only of how fucking hot Misty Rucker looks without her clothes on. Maybe if she weren't so dense, or the scholar more daring, she could have her pinned against the wall and supple flesh in her hands…
