Patrick Star, a 27-year-old environmental executive, has never been one to indulge in narcissism when it comes to his friend Squidward. Now he has more reason to: Squidward had him pinned under the bed as his tormentor for the entirety of SpongeBob SquarePants’ online season, and Squidward’s assault took its toll. Maybe it should have sent him running, or maybe he should have taken out his anger on Patrick’s dad, whom he wrongly identified as the villain behind Squidward’s aquarium’s destruction

M*A*S*H 30 Day Challenge- Day 25- Favourite Guest Star
A lot of amazing guest stars passed through the 4077th, but my favourite has to be Patrick Swayze and his performance in the episode Blood Brothers. Swayze plays Private Gary Sturgis a solider determined to donate blood to his terribly wounded friend Dan. While testing his blood to find out if they can use his blood to do a transfusion, the doctors find out that Sturgis has leukemia. It is a death sentence and Hawkeye struggles with if and how to tell him. He is determined to get Sturgis to Tokyo for treatment ASAP but Sturgis wants to stay by his friend’s side. It’s touching and beautiful. This story line ties into a great plot involving Father Mulcahy giving one of his best sermons.
The thing that always gets me about this episode is that Patrick Swayze ended up dying from leukemia in real life. It adds an extra level of heartbreak to it all. It’s a terrific performance from him a few years before he became a break out star.

I’m feeling very bad and anxious this evening so I’m doing the ultimate indulgence: watching my favorite Robin Hood movie and eating junk food.
Edit: for the record it is the 1991 film starring Partrick Bergin and Uma Thurman, NOT. THE KEVIN COSTNER FILM.

TNG: “The First Duty”
Tumblr media
The Enterprise returns to Earth so Captain Picard can deliver the commencement address at Starfleet Academy.  The graduation ceremonies are to include a flight demonstration by Nova Squadron, but an accident during practice leaves one cadet dead, prompting a formal inquiry.  Cadet Wesley Crusher and the rest of Nova Squadron close ranks to avoid taking the blame for the accident, but the Enterprise crew is determined to exonerate their former shipmate.
For all that Starfleet officers are depicted as being above status and vanity, we’re inundated with stories about those same officers, as Starfleet cadets, getting away with all sorts of impressive misadventures that made them who they are.  Here, we confront the consequences of that trope.  Nova Squadron wanted to do the Kolvoord Starburst maneuver, because it was banned, because they knew it would make them the stuff of legend, because Starfleet never reprimands anyone for these stunts when they’re successful.
So what happens when something goes wrong, and a cadet is killed?  Well, it turns out if you build an institution around recruiting future Captain Kirks, you get students that would rather game the system than admit that they didn’t plan for failure.  No one in this story really addresses Starfleet’s complicity in this problem, by creating a culture of “no harm, no foul” regulations, and officers who brag about exploiting that culture.  Small wonder, then, that the civilian groundskeeper is the moral center of the whole organization.
This episode is probably best remembered for Picard’s stirring monologue about “the first duty of every Starfleet officer.”  A lot of this went over my head in 1992, but over time it’s stuck with me.  It’s easy to think Starfleet is just a bunch of cool dudes flying at warp speed and meeting interesting aliens and playing Sherlock Holmes on the holodeck.  It’s easy to think it’s just about being a good officer, or explorer, or scientist.  But none of that stuff means a damn without honesty and integrity.  Picard’s not just talking about the truth Wesley is withholding from the inquiry; he’s talking about Wesley being honest with himself, because he knows it’s wrong.
Cadet Locarno is of course, played by Robert Duncan McNeill, who all but reprised the role in the form of Lieutenant Tom Paris on Star Trek: Voyager.  The Star Trek wiki Memory Alpha is filled with competing theories about why the showrunners didn’t simply have McNeill play Locarno on Voyager, since Paris’s checkered past certainly resembles the controversies that bring down Locarno in this episode.  Locarno seems more corrupt than Paris, and perhaps harder to mold into a “con man with a heart of gold” type of guy.  Then again, early Voyager episodes struggle to justify the air of distrust surrounding Paris, so maybe making him seem more corrupt wouldn’t have been such a bad thing.
Some more trivia about Picard’s age: Picard refers to himself as “class of ’27,” presumably based on his 2305 birthdate in “Cause and Effect.”  Boothby says he was the same age when Picard was a cadet as Picard is now, in 2368.  This would make Picard 63 and Boothby over 100, whereas Partrick Stewart was 51 and Ray Walston was 77.

‘Better Watch Out’ 2017 Movie Review
We have another Christmas horror film ladies & gentlemen! *Jumps for joy*
*NO SPOILERS*
‘Better Watch out’ starts off with the usual… a wreckless teenager in a car. The story takes place in a suburban neighborhood during the Christmas holiday. In this neighborhood we are focused on one quaint street and one home. In this home we have a husband, wife and young son (12 or 13 yrs old). It is Christmas after all, so the parents are heading out to a holiday party. Prior to heading out they contacted a friend of the family to keep an eye on their son. This babysitter not being much older than their son, just happens to be his crush. The parents leave & their home is completely left to these two. Like previous horror films the terror begins with a phone call, and a knock at the door.
Now let me just say that if you’re like me, I think it’s safe to say the trailer was completely confusing. Please understand, this wasn’t a bad thing at all! Some trailers give it all away where as this one left you wondering, whom exactly is the killer here? I love that! That same formula the trailer used was also incorporated into the film. In the very beginning I found myself pointing the finger at almost all of the characters. It just doesn’t become clear until someone gets hurt and of course when someone ends up dead.
The acting was good, the plot seemed a bit familiar ( 'Home Alone’ ), and the storyline hit the mark for me. This movie does unfortunately have its flaws. There were moments where I thought, if this movie doesn’t move it along I’m going “night-night”. You can easily get distracted while watching this because of those dull moments. At one point I also wondered if this was merely another teenage horror film making fun of itself. Fortunately that didn’t really last very long. I also think that may have worked hand in hand in keeping me guessing, with the minor comedy being what held my attention. The twist was what really did it for me, but I can't help but wish there was more death scenes.
Once things really hit the fan you kind of wonder a number of things. Is he playing a sick game that’s going too far? Is he really this psychotic or looking to prove he's a tough guy? As time goes by you realize this kid is just plain sick in the head! The torment will have you in awe and deaths will cause your mouths to drop open. The ending… Well let’s just say it will have you wondering is it over or is there more to come. Overall for me, this film was a damn good Christmas horror ride! If you are into Christmas horror or dark humor I think you may enjoy this. It was like 'Home Alone’ mixed with 'P2’, and a hint of 'Scream'. Not too heavy on the comedy side and not at all what I would consider cheesy. I give it 4 out of 5 Christmas Trees 🎄🎄🎄🎄 . -The Chronicle Of Nightmare Lane
Starring: Olivia Dejonge, Levi Miller, Dacre Montgomery, Ed Oxenbould, Virginia Madsen and Partrick Warbuton
