Day 6 - Hiding

Passerine!Wilbur/Passerine!Tommy PLATONIC

Tommy was currently hiding from Wilbur, and why you may ask? Well the golden boy had finally managed to get Wilbur to take a break from working to play with him. Tommy was excited because he got to pick the game, and of course he played hide and seek. He knew what would happen when he was found and he was looking forward to it, as that part is his favorite part. He giggled behind his hands as he heard Wilbur getting closer.

“Ohhhh Tommyyyyy~” the king called out in a singsong voice, “Where aaarreeee yoooooouuuuu~” Tommy giggled when he heard Wilbur getting even closer. He was about 6 feet from his hiding spot now. “I’m gonna fiiiiind yoooouuuuu~” the older smirked, seeing the younger’s shadow peeking out from behind a tree, but he decided to drag it out a bit longer and act like he didn’t see him. “Come out come out wherever you aaaarrreeeee~”

Wilbur quickly poked his head around Tommy’s hiding place, “Boo!” Tommy squealed as Wilbur picked him up in his arms quickly after scaring him. Tommy squirmed in his hold as Wilbur sat down with Tommy in his lap. He knew what was coming, and the last thing he heard as a warning was a mischievous giggle before ten fingers were spidering all over his sides. Tommy squealed and half heartedly pushed at his brother’s hands, but then they quickly moved to his stomach, and Tommy’s laughter grew louder, “NOHOHOHO! WHIHIHILBEHEHEY! Nohohot THEHEHERE!”

“Awwwweeee~ but I think you like this spot~” Wilbur cooed, leaning down and blowing tiny raspberries on Tommy’sneck, causing the latter to shriek and giggle louder, “NONONOHOHOHOHO! NOHOHO RAHAHASPBEHEHERRIES!” “Yes raspberries~ lots and lots of them to make you keep on giggling~” Wilbur teased, hooking a finger into his brothers navel and vibrating it around, while stopping the raspberries.

Tommy absolutely shrieked, “WIHIHIHILBEHEHEY! NOHOHOHOT THEHEHERE!” Wilbur slowed down, taking his finger out of Tommy’s navel, and instead spidering gently around the small boy’s tummy, “Do you wanna stop now, or go out with a bang?” It was a genuine question from Wilbur, him wanting to make sure Tommy could handle more. As Tommy caught his breath, he giggled out an answer, “Ihihi can tahahake mohohore.”

That was all Wilbur needed to hear as he shifted Tommy around and leaned down. He took a deep breath in and blew a long raspberry right over his bellybutton. Tommy absolutely lost it, as he let out squeals and squeaks, “NAHAHA IHIHIT’S SOHOHOHO BAHAHAD!” Wilbur blew a few more smaller raspberries around his tummy until he heard the strain in Tommy’s laughter. He then stopped and rubbed the ghost tickles out of the ticklish skin.

Tommy’s giggles died down as he tried pushing Wilbur’s hands away again, thinking he was gonna start tickling him again. “We’re all done, Flower Boy, don’t worry,” Wilbur said, smiling softly at his brother’s giggling form, as the smaller snuggled up close to Wilbur. Wilbur picked up his brother and started walking back to the castle. Tommy yawned, “Wilby?” Wilbur hummed to let him know he was listening. “C-can we do this more often…?” Wilbur smiled and mentally awed. How adorable could his little brother get, “Of course Tommy!” Tommy then fell asleep, all he remembered just before falling asleep was the soft platonic kiss to his forehead and a soft, “Sleep well, Sunshine Boy.”

Passerine, that bittersweet fanfic. Perhaps it is one of the most popular/famous DSMP fanfic. Many of us cried because of Passerine and dozens of animations were inspired by it. It has been ages since I last read Passerine. However, when I saw a yellow rose today, I still cried my eyes out. Out of all the colours on this planet, why did it have to be yellow? That rose reminded me of Price Tommy. That little ball of sunshine that unfortunately died in Passerine. It also reminded me of the SBI and how it’s missing one member. I think we all know who I’m talking about.

Okay, enough of my pointless rant. I’m going to cry some more now…

I don’t know if I dreamed this or if this is real but in Passerine wasn’t Wilbur supposed to die instead of Tommy in the original draft but the creator got attached to Wilbur’s character so they had Tommy die instead? I think that the most heartbreaking thing in Passerine was p!Phil not being there. My mans just left, and poor p!Wilbur, at 16 had to rule the whole kingdom without him.

I remember that the first thing that made me cry was p!wilbur having that fight at the table with p!phil (yep, daddy issues). It really gives us the first look on their relationship in the story, although it is batter at the end. it's only bc Tommy's death and they all have to step together as a family to bury him.

Yeah, it's just the saddest thing for me. i read Passerine when sadist anaunced their animatic, i did spoil tommy dying for myself so it was expected when i got to that part, but yeah it was a really sad and bittersweet fic.

That fic made me read more of them, and then i realized that i hated "bad father phil" fics, and just love my classic SBI angst, with happy ending fics, that have good and supportive father c!Phil in it. <3

LMAO i know that this is so random. Me? Talking about Passerine in 2023? NO WAY?!

But I was just rewatching some old mcyt animations and i came across one form "Kazuallyy", that i had never watched before. I remember that it was always in my recommend, but i never watched it for some reason lmao

But yes, i just watched it and NO ONE TOLD ME THAT THE SONG IN IT WAS "TWO BY SLEEPING AT LAST"?!!

I just absolutely cried my ass out lmao. I'm not okay!

anyways, as much angsty that fic is, i love the core memories that i have with it and it will always hold a special place in my heart, as one of the first and the saddest fics I've ever read.

Caught passerine! Wilbur x reader Pt.2

"Oh god..." Those words were the only ones that came out of Techno's mouth, he quickly covered up Tommy's eyes and closed the door. The embarrassment that washed over you was indescribable, however Wilbur froze, he was so shocked he couldn't talk. "it's over for us, isn't it?" He said, tears were forming in his eyes after which they rolled down his cheeks. He quickly pulled out of you, got dressed and then dressed you up as well. The next thing he knew, his dad showed up, "We have to talk and you know about what." Phil said coldly, Wilbur knew what was going to happen. "Stay here, Dear..." He patted your head and quickly walked out, leaving you alone.

"What did I told you, Wilbur..." Phil was disappointed, his monotone voice spoke up to Wilbur. "I know..." Wil wasn't brave enough to look his father into his eyes. "You knew... And still you ignored my words..." The young man quickly looked up, "You don't understand me! I'm a grown man, you can't just tell me who I can love!" His father stood up, "Listen, I thought I could trust you... You can't just love a girl who is in a league far below us, If you know what I mean!" Wilbur was quiet, he didn't knew what to say. "I'm going to make sure that this girl won't be able to see you, Ever again!" Phil sighed, "You're dismissed."

You were still sitting in his room, you weren't alone for a long time because Techno walked in. His expression was very... Unpleasant at least. He looked very sorry as he looked down at you. "You seem very nice, you know...?" His soft yet firm voice spoke. "Well, Thank you" You smiled at him gently. "I think Wilbur told you about our father, haven't he?" You just looked up at him, his pink long hair were covering almost half of his face. "He did..." Techno laughed, "Yet still he couldn't stop himself even thought he knew Phil was here. Look, I want Wilbur to be happy... I actually was wondering why he was so bubbly and giggly lately... Turns out he was seeing you." He was smiling to himself. "We won't be seeing eachother anymore, right?" The pink haired man frowned. "Well yes, I doubt that... But you managed to slip into his room these past few months, it's kind of impressive." Before you could answer, Wilbur entered the room, you could see his gaze soften when he looked at you. "My Darling... You have to leave..." Techno looked sad, that was all you could tell from his expression that you barely ever saw change. Wilbur's eyes swelled up with tears, looking at you. Tommy came in, "Our father wants to see you..." His energetic voice spoke through.

You were scared that's all you could think about. Walking throught the long hallways of the castle until you reached his office. "Sit down..." Phil spoke as you looked up at him. "I can't even think about you seeing my son..." He sighed, "I'm going to make sure, he will fall in love in someone else, someone who is more worthy of him than you." You were focusing on his voice, the words sounded unreal. "Yes, sir." You were frightened, you walked past Wilbur's chamber, looking inside. "Last goodbye?" A soft smile appeared on your face as he ran into you, crying into your shoulder. "D-Dont go, My Dear..." Wilbur sniffled out as Techno and Tommy pulled Wilbur away. "See you soon" You said without hesitation, you were going to come back, of course you were! "See you soon?" Techno just smirked as you were walking away.

You waited through the next couple of weeks, his heart was aching for you, he was hugging his pillows just to think you were with him, he was doing that for nothing... Nothing compared to you... Weeks flew by, you were just checking up on him from time to time after which you were brave enough to see him again.

"Techno!" You climbed throught his window, you looked desperate, his eyes were wide open. "Y/n...? You came here for Wilbur, you came back!" His smile was wide, you never seen him so happy. "So he's home?" You asked, still hanging on the window frame to Techno's chamber. "He is, you're lucky Dad's not home he went away for 3 days..." He quickly pulled you inside, "Be careful, there are so many guards, wait let me lead you..." He carefully took your hand in his, leading you out of his chamber to Wilbur's. "Here you go, run to him!" Techno laughed softly.

Wilbur was sitting next to his desk, scribbling something down, tears running down his face when he heard the door of his chamber open. "Missed me?" He quickly sprung out of his chair, hearing the familiar voice of his Darling. Wilbur froze he couldnt control his excitement. "Oh god..." Your arms were open for him, he quickly ran into them, crying again but this time out of luck. He looked rough is all you can say, he had a stubble of a moustache, his eyes were puffy, his hair were messy. "I thought you were dead! Why weren't you showing up?!" He sobbed out. "I was waiting for the perfect moment and here I am..." You were holding him so tightly as he started to sloppily kiss you. "You're going to stay over, right?!" He was looking so happy, looking at you with hope "of course..." Those were the last words said out loud before both of you fell asleep, holding each other tightly. Tommy and Techno walked into the room again, looking at their brother so happy again and smiling at each other. "She's the 'Darling' that he was writing about in his poems, huh?" Techno smiled at Tommy.

i really want to get into mcyt-related (dsmp, hermitcraft, last/third life, osmp, afterlife, etc.) fanfics but i dont even know where to start. do you happen to have any fic recommendations?

Well, this all depends on what you want.

I think most of the classics are very good way to start, although most are a bit long.

The only one of the most known fics that I think might not be a the best way to start is TommyInnit's Unbeatable Method of Avoiding Sudden Death because it's a fic notorious for being difficult to begin. A lot of people start reading it, stop, and then might repeat the process until they manage to keep reading more than like 3 chapters and once they do that they start being obsessed and read it til the end almost in one go. Then they won't recover for the rest of their lives but beginning is difficult. Worth it but difficult.

I am a very big fan of angsty fics so a lot of the ones I like the most are always a bit sad.

For fic recs:

Passerine - Written by Thcscus. Classic, my favourite fic of all time. It has seven chapters and it's a rollercoaster of emotions that goes up then goes down drastically. One of the most beautiful things I've ever read and with a godd message. If I had to give it my summary it would be

Technoblade arrives at his long Friend Philza's — also known as the Angel of Death — castle, after this one had abandoned Techno without a word. There King Philza makes Techno promiss to help his oldest son, Wilbur, with voices that both Techno and Wilbur hear. What Techno will realise is that the promiss will extend to being more than Wilbur's tutor, and that Techno won't be the only one having to deal with Philza abandoning the ones he loves. Wilbur becomes king at 16.

Technoblade and Philza are immortal, Wilbur and Tommy... Are not.

Or maybe read the author's summary which is always poetic and beautiful.

For something way shorter but still very good, from the same author;

When Wilbur Met Sally - shorter fic about, well, Sally and Wilbur meeting. This one happens in the canon storyline of the Dream SMP so you already have a bit of an idea of how this is going to end. This is a fic I could spoil but that wouldn't really matter since it's the feelings and relationship between the characters that matter. I think it's a good introduction to mcyt fics. I also think the summary made by the author is perfect:

When asked, years down the line, she will begin the story with a tight smile and a “Once upon a time” with a voice that sounds like a double-edged sword. Like she is telling an inside joke that even she cannot laugh at. She will repeat the words, more somber, until they are no longer words but a mere collection of sounds, beautiful but indistinguishable, incoherent—birdsong, or a ballad from some lovesick boy’s guitar.

Once upon a time, as if they were a fairy tale.

As if they had a happily ever after.

Denouement - Written by @/isa-grapes How I wish Wilbur and Tommy's conversation to go. Follows canon. Also short. Very sweet but not in a fluff way, more in a hurt comfort way. Characterisation is on point. If Wilbur's talk with Tommy in canon isn't as good as this one I'm gonna be disappointed and accept this one as canon instead.

It's an one-shot!

TommyInnit's Clinic For Supervillains - Written by @/bonesandthebees Do you want to read a Super Hero AU fic but TommyInnit's Unbeatable Method of Avoiding Sudden Death seems to be difficult in catching your interest immediately? This one's for you! The fic where Tommy, just a guy working at a café, saves supervillain Siren from dying. Things escalate. Also Tommy becomes best friends with this guy Wilbur who starts going to the café regularly. I wonder how that's related 🧐

Anywway, this has one of the funniest scenarios I've seen in a fic. Supervillain Siren in full gothic attire and Tommy dressed in normal cheap clothes trying to order at a McDonald's. "Yeah, it's totally a kidnapping believe us. Tommy what do you want? Chicken nuggets? Yeah, chicken nuggets for my hostage. He also wants sauce to go with that."

This fic is also a discussion about morality and family. It might go where you don't expect it to go.

This is About a Stuffed Bird - Written by @/theminecraftbee. It's a zombie apocalypse fic from the pov of Mumbo who has decided he's gonna stop hiding and do everything in his power to find Grian (Before the apocalypse started Mumbo promised Grian to give him a talking parrot robot with some simple AI). Mumbo is not confident at all so the story really has him overcome small things that you'd expect a typical zombie apocalypse protagonist to be good at.

Ah, and by the way, the monsters aren't exactly zombies. They're worse. Will give me nightmares for the rest of my life.

I recommend you check the writter's blog since they have a bunch of smaller fics in post format so you can have a small dose and see the style of the author.

Covet - Written by @/digitalta. Another horror one! A fic about boatem who has a distinct lack of Grian but definitely has a boatemhole monster. Scout my beloved.

It's a fic where the hermits are trying to deal with a problem (the boatemhole monster) in the best way they can. Some of them are terrified, others are Scar who doesn't know the definition of danger... Others are trying to understand and sympathize with Scout... They're doing their best. When you get over the initial horror you actually might start feeling a bit sad for the boatemhole monster.

I have a recommendation: Passerine Podcast. It's a YouTube channel who's reading Dream SMP fanfiction and the quality is very good. They have read Passerine from beginning to end so you can listen to it. They've also read Bones in the Ocean by @/bunfloras & @/wolfythewitch, which is a pirate fic centred on Emerald duo (very good too) and have begun reading TommyInnit's Clinic For Supervillains!
