i rewatched Patema Inverted last night and all i could think about was a speeding bullet au of the movie... so i drew that. (although i think this would also work well as plenty of other ships too)

Another AU idea

So I’ve been mulling over some more ideas for my Wayward Son Au and one idea just WON’T leave my head. 

So you know how Giratina is supposed to represent Antimatter according to Gamefreak? Well, I’ve also seen some convincing videos that Giratina actually controls Gravity. Well me, I’ve decided to combine those two ideas together and say Giratina is the being of ALL matter, since Antimatter is just matter made up of the opposite material and can be used to make the same things, just opposite, and gravity is a side effect of matter having mass. So the creation trio is Time, Space, and Matter.

With that explanation out of the way, the scene that’s stuck in my head right now is that of  a still young Giratina unable to fully control his powers and stricken with grief when he finally understands his mother isn’t coming back for him. He loses it, and he starts ripping the Unova region apart without realizing it, changing the properties of matter around him and causing much of the region to float. If you’ve seen the ending of the anime movie Patema Inverted, that’s basically what happened.

Giratina gets pulled out of it eventually by Arceus and the Lake Trio and gets taken to where it will help create a new world. I’ve changed the ‘exists outside of time and space and can be born in the world they create’ thing for the Creation Trio and made it to where the Sinjoh event is creating a member of a new trio to create a new world, like the mega universe vs the non mega universe. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire DID prove that there are multiple parallel pokemon universes in canon, so I’m making it to where each has it’s own Creation Trio, born from a previous world.

And while Arceus probably CAN fix the damage done to Unova/the world by Giratina, it’s also given me the idea for the backstory to the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon universe. All of the pokemon know what humans are, or were, and the first few games at least had some abandoned human facilities. If all of the humans fell into the sky a la Patema Inverted, well...

OK, SO I DID A LITTLE SOMETHING!

I did a little undertale AU inspired by Patema Inverted! It’s called Undergravity.

STORY:

In addition to casting the monsters away in Mount Ebott, the humans provoked another spell; the gravity is inverted inside of the mountain to prevent any human from going in. Monsters are the only ones affected by the spell, and they can roam in there without gravity pulling them upwards. It’s like a reverse gravity for them on the surface, but it’s completely normal in the underground. But... if you are human, you feel like you're climbing the mountain once again upon going inside.

Toriel helps humans in their journey to the RUINS, even letting them leave if they want. 

Frisk is SCARED of heights. But they want to overcome it. They are determined.

The spell can be broken just like the barrier.

7 human souls are required.

There were multiple human children who were up to the challenge, climbing their way down, but ultimately failing to escape the depths of the mountain and the confusing gravity. Frisk, however, has DETERMINATION. With the help of Toriel and the other monsters in the RUINS, they successfully get to Snowdin… with a little help.

(Sans is using his blue magic to help them at least float and not get their full body thrown upwards.)

Frisk has some ice picks in that bag, using them to roam around while the inverted gravity of the spell affects them only.

I remember the movie so vividly but I cannot remember any of the terms they used in the movie but chuuya being patema and dazai being eiji..

Honestly not much to say about this au but I remember thinking this a while ago and now I suddenly remembered it again and i need to voice my thoughts to someone. 🤓 i’ve never seen anyone say it but i think it fits well for soukoku if that make sense. 😋

I’m Gonna Fall Up

My sister, @kaitolune, and I watched Patema Inverted last weekend. Its a Japanese animated film about two kids whose gravities are opposite each other (the sky is up for one, the sky is down for the other), learning to trust that they won’t let each other fall. Its beautiful and I highly recommend it. But that’s not what this post is about.

When the movie was over and the end credits were rolling, Kai turns to me and deadpans, “You’re gonna write a Sheith fic based off this now, aren’t you.” 

My entire face lights up in the stupidest grin you ever saw (I was pretty drunk at this point as well), and I go, “HELL. FUCKING. YES.”

But of course Kai, enabler that they are, doesn’t leave it at that, and continues, “Gotta write that sweet sixty-nine smut!” and I kid you not, I choked on my water I laughed so hard.

It honestly hadn’t even crossed my mind that a Patema Inverted AU would be a PERFECT sixty-nine smut story! Because, here’s the thing; my mind is a glorious blend of “always in the gutter” and “too pure for this world.”

So now I’m writing a Sheith Inverted AU fic with plans for sixty-nine smut and its the greatest thing ever. I’m sure Kai regrets everything tho, cos I never shut up about it ;)
