Men and masculinity are not inherently bad or untrustworthy things and I don't mean that in a 'misandry is real and a problem' way, I mean that in a 'I think some of you might have contracted minor radfem poisoning' way

Amatonormativity has destroyed so many people's understanding and acceptance of themselves, and it's heartbreaking.
Yes, it is normal to be in your 20s, 30s, or older and not have lost your virginity, had a first kiss, or a partner. It is normal to say that you aren't ready for those things, too! It is normal if your life doesn't follow the "college graduate -> engagement -> buying a home -> 2.5 kids and a dog" trajectory that so many people have idealized.
So many people associate maturity with losing your virginity, or having a first kiss, or a serious relationship, and I think that's a dangerous association. Maturity isn't gained through those things, and you don't have to have those experiences to be considered "mature" or "grown." It is not a bad thing to go at your pace. Nobody else can live your life but you. If you end up having those experiences, that's great! But it should be done because you want to experience them, not because you feel "broken" and "immature" without them.

Thinking about how Damian suffered because Talia believed in a grand destiny for him, and how Jason was given a second chance because of the very same thing. Damian being a full member of the Al Ghul house and having to bear the weight of Ra’s ego -being his heir- for it, while Jason escaped being pulled into Ra’s orbit because he was regarded as little more than an object. Just Talia’s futile pet project.

deeply confusing and borderline insane to me how in every episode this season alicent literally looks like the physical manifestation of a cry for help and yet the majority of people watching the show then choose to willingly misinterpret her as the Greatest Bitch Ever To Live but okay

i feel like i cant put harrow and palamedes in modern aus together because then im faced with the realistic conclusion that harrows academic/professional accomplishments would be seen as lesser compared to palamedes’ due to sexism and i do think that would be harrows joker moment. i do think she would start killing.

The idea that manhood is a type of violence that can be wielded is definitely something that I've found impacts me - the idea that to be a man, I have to fight and bleed for it, that fostering anything else is sacrilege. It's honestly really sad to look at cis men who are entrenched in this idea because it's a curse. I've also found this threat of violence wielded against me in order to "prove" I'm not a man, that if I can not beat people into submission that I am not truly worthy of manhood.
I ultimately see this viewpoint of manhood as fragile - not because manhood or masculinity is inherently so, but because it relies so heavily on other people and if they approve of their manhood. It relies on climbing on other people through any means necessary. Should our manhood only be expressed through the blood on our knuckles? Is it right that we bathe ourselves in so many layers of machismo and false arrogance that our true selves are frozen beneath layers upon layers of apathy and fear?

what do you think would have happend had alicent told rhaenyra about her secret meetings with viserys and rhaenyra tried to intervene?
i think not much. there were many other forces pushing for alicent to spend time with viserys. while rhaenyra would've probably gone to viserys and raise hell because that's the only sort of power she has in court and in her fmaily, viserys would've double down in saying nothing was happening & make rhaenyra accept it in some way. because really? besides maybe, maybe understanding where alicent is coming from, i don't think there's anything real rhaenyra can do if the king decides to spend time with a lady of the court. and the biggest, most crucial point here is that alicent is more afraid of otto than she has hope in anything rhaneyra could offer her.
i mean, there /are/ things rhaenyra could do like broker a marriage between alicent and another person before viserys can decide, and maybe it would mean alicent had a happier? marriage. but it's still an unknown man, that would also need otto's approval and while rhaenyra is the lady of the household and in charge of alicent's prospects, she's still 14 during this period. what else... speak with the velaryons? maybe they would get to otto and pressure him to drop the issue threatening him that they would make it all public, but alicent's fate would always be to marry someone else quietly.
