‘Mayans M.C.’ To End With Season 5 At FX
Mayans M.C. will end with Season 5 on FX. FX boss John Landgraf revealed the move during the network’s TCA day on Thursday.
Created by Kurt Sutter and Elgin James, Mayans M.C.— a spin-off series of the network’s hit Sons of Anarchy— follows a motley crew of Latin men who found a family in the motorcycle club charter Santo Padre on the California and Mexico border. While the story is about the M.C., it also features powerful female characters that are bold and powerful in their own right.
Returning series stars include J.D. Pardo, Clayton Cardenas, Danny Pino, Michael Irby, Carla Baratta, Sarah Bolger, Emilio Rivera, Edward James Olmos, Frankie Loyal, Vincent Vargas, and Joseph Raymond Lucero.
The Season 4 finale saw the M.C. mourn the loss of their brother Coco (Richard Cabral) who was killed in battle earlier in the season. It was also a big episode for Sons of Anarchy fans with the return of Kim Coates as Tig where he shared a particularly emotional reunion with OG Marcus Alvarez (Rivera).
In another tie-in to SOA, Meth Mountain’s Isaac Packer’s (JR Bourne) reaper tattoo was finally explained in the episode. He is the younger brother of Les Packer (Robert Patrick), President of SAMCRO’s San Bernadino chapter who had been undergoing cancer treatment. Still alive and kicking, a return of Les would make total sense for Mayan M.C.‘s final season.
When the series returns, Santo Padre will have a new leader in EZ (Pardo) who orchestrated the ouster of El Padrino snatching the seat at the head of the table. Alvarez wanted to barter peace between SAMCRO and Santo Padre but EZ and his brothers want war. Hopefully, this sets up the ultimate Sons of Anarchy and Mayans M.C. crossover fans have ever seen.

Paper cutting art of Patrick Cabral.
"As part of an ongoing series to highlight various endangered species, Manila-based paper artist Patrick Cabral created these amazing cut paper portraits of tigers, pandas, pangolins, and other threatened animals. The multi-layered works are cut by hand and incorporate decorative flourishes and patterns into the the face of each animal. Working since last November, Cabral envisioned the series as a way to support endangered animals, and he’s donating half of the proceeds from the sale of each sculpture to WWF Philippines."

"‘Got Fuck All’: Brendan ‘The Dark’ Hughes’ Dissident Republicanism." Tom Blackburn. Ebb Magazine.
"Returned to Long Kesh, Hughes was facing a total of 20 years inside. But by this period, the cages at Long Kesh were a hotbed of political education and intellectual ferment. ‘The British labelled it, or nicknamed it, “the university of terrorism”’, he reminisced in a 1991 documentary. ‘Long Kesh, to me, was the university of freedom; the university of revolution.’ Prisoners taught themselves the Irish language, studied the history of their country's long and lonely struggle to free itself from the British yoke, and acquainted themselves with revolutionary thinkers from around the world. Bobby Sands’s reading list, for example, included Che Guevara – also Hughes’ greatest hero – Frantz Fanon, Amílcar Cabral, George Jackson and liberation theologist Camilo Torres, as well as homegrown revolutionaries James Connolly, Patrick Pearse, and Liam Mellows.23 The H-block men also educated themselves about and made common cause with other national liberation struggles, including that of the Palestinians, whose cause Hughes would hold dear for the rest of his life.
All this stood in stark contrast to the situation just a few years earlier. In the early 1970s, by Hughes’ own admission, IRA recruits had scarcely been political at all, motivated as they were by the immediate need to defend their communities and fight the British occupiers. Though Sinn Féin was nominally the political arm of the Republican movement, it offered little in the way of ideological leadership. By the middle of the decade, however, a new brand of political militant was on the rise as younger IRA volunteers recognised that it was insufficient to struggle for a 32-county republic without having some idea of the kind of society they wanted to build once that battle was won. They began to chafe at the restrictions imposed on them by the IRA’s more conservative, Dublin-based leadership, and a select few commenced plotting to overthrow it."
