I love him so much!! <3 <3 <3

Part of him would prefer to stay home and just… well… play house… but realistically, he’ll probably end up in a position within his father’s company. Even if he’s a little too weak-willed to fully take things over, he’s still expected to stay in the business. As long as it’s not a job that will drain him or force him into unhealthily uncomfortable situations, he’ll do alright. The bonus is that not being at the helm of the company means shorter hours, at least by a little, so he can spend a bit more time at home with you.

Is very much not a morning person. Much as he tries not to grumble about having to get out of bed, he can’t fight it too much; after all, he goes to bed at a reasonable hour, so there’s no reason he should be clinging to his pillow, is there? He’s just… so sleepy! He likes the idea of mornings ― actual mornings are another story. Any day he has no plans and gets to sleep in, cuddling with you, is a good day. Other days… he can be woken up more easily with a copious amount of kisses, if you’re willing to be patient.

After work, he likes to play games with you. Regardless of the fact that it’s just the two of you, it’s still a fun way to spend the night! Card games are just fine, especially because many of them only need two people to be played. Blackjack and war are two he enjoys, even though he may not be very good and they often rely on luck more than skill. However, when it comes to parlor games, he’s an absolute master at playing The Minister’s Cat. It’s like he’s memorized the whole dictionary and has a word for every letter of the alphabet… whether he beats you at this one is up to whether you’re good with words as well!

Does he have a cook? Yes, he does. Does that stop him from trying to make your favorite meal, complete with dessert and drinks, when a special occasion like your birthday or an anniversary calls for it? No, no, it does not. To his credit, he does try quite hard; he’s just not a natural cook. The effort makes up for it.

Provided you don’t object, he often has a flower or two for you at least once a week when he comes home. He likes to walk back to the manor, and passes several people selling flowers on the streets and at least one florist on the way. Typically he buys from the ones selling on the streets, so that he can help them out. It gets to the point that the people he buys from most often know him by name and expect him on a certain day of the week like clockwork.

(… This might be how he meets your first child. He desperately wants to adopt and give a child in need a loving home! He’s probably just going to ask you to come with him one day, so you can go over and ask the little one if they want to come home with the two of you. He’s a little too shy to make such a bold move himself!)

Honestly? He’d be perfectly fine with a small army of children that you and he adopt. Five or more, if you can keep up with them all. Why not?? He has a lot of love to give, and giving a home to children who don’t have one is something he sees as one of the most loving gestures he could possibly give. All in all, Patrick is definitely at his happiest when he comes home from a long day at work only to be tackled by a brood of kids all shouting, “Daddy’s home! Daddy’s home!” … Well. Happiest then, except for when he’s hugging and kissing them all, and spending time with the children and you as a family. Despite everything, he’s a rather simple man at his core, with just two things driving him: the desire to be loved, and the desire to love.

Sleepy snuggles with you and the children in front of the fireplace. He falls asleep complete, content, and fulfilled in his life. He was born to live inside moments like that.

This is just a thought, but remember Mr Phelps from the mansion murders arc (the one killed by the snake)? He was the owner of the Blue Star Line company, the one that created the Campania. Do you think Phelps was an Aurora Society Member, or did the society just purchase the company and commandeer the boat?

Mr. Phelps' role

He wasn't the owner of Blue Star Line but a board member. Please see this post from December 2017 (which has links to three older posts) and this post from October 2018.

I used to think our earl and Sebastian accidentally caused harm to real Ciel's and Undertaker's efforts, but I actually have a new theory:

At the end of the circus arc, Sebastian has Baldo cart the bodies of Jumbo, Beast, Dagger, Wendy, and Peter to the back gate, where Undertaker will presumably pick them up for disposal. The murders arc happens as a direct result of the queen not being pleased with our earl's report about the circus assignment. Phelps is an unintended casualty, but since he died at the manor, his body was probably also set aside for Undertaker to collect.

It's possible that one of two things happened:

Either Undertaker turns Phelps into a bizarre doll about as reliable as Agares (given the time period) and sends him back to the Blue Star Line in order for Undertaker to gain some control over the shipping company.

Or Undertaker doesn't reanimate Phelps (technique might not be strong enough yet), but he sees the empty seat in the board of directors as an opportunity to infiltrate the board himself and gain some control over it. He would then show up to the board meetings looking a lot like his image as the Weston headmaster.

Anyway, Patrick Phelps was on the board and in the trading division. His death, if Blue Star Line suffered from the loss, would have been a boon to Lau's shipping business.

I have no one irl I can discuss Miss Scarlet with (it usually doesn't stop me though, but I do try to limit it to a sane amount), but no matter how much I talk to my friends about it, they won't ever grasp the true extent of everything related to it, because they never watched and never will watch the show, and that's okay. So here I am speaking into the abyss. Hi!

You know, I've been thinking about Stuart's departure. And I'm really starting to think he was right in leaving. Don't get me wrong, I'll miss him immensely, he's a great actor and somewhat of a comfort in the show since we've known him, we know his motivations, we've grown to like him, etc. I like his and Eliza's banter and bickering, but I never did like their romance all that much.

Looking back, in my opinion, they acted more like older brother/younger sister than familial friends with romantic attraction. And I probably would have liked them even more if they never even had that romance aspect, but I'm not sure, since I'm thinking about this retroactively not way back when, when I first started watching the show.

I'll miss William coaching Fitzroy, but I'm also curious how Phelps will approach the subject, since they seem to be on better terms, and maybe more professional than what William and Fitzroy had.

Perhaps William's absence will also provide us with more opportunities to see our favourite side characters and Eliza interacting, eg. Fitzroy (Does he still have a crush on her? Has he moved on? If he still hasn't, will Phelps notice? How will he react?), Ivy and Mr Potts (Will they get married this season? Will Ivy move out? [I know lots of us have been pondering this specific question, as quite a few fanfics imagine this scenario.]), I'd love to see Moses return along with Solomon.

I've seen people mention that Eliza is in dire need of a female friend, and I have to agree. I'd love to see a past female character return, with a vengeance (not literally). My top candidates would be Clara Simms from season 1 or Arabella Acaster, which might be controversial. I'd love to see them make up and move on. Because, I might be wrong in thinking this, but aren't they the two sides of the same coin?

I realise I haven't mentioned Nash yet. I'm excited to see his trial and all the difficulties they will have to deal with it during and after. Once he's free and Eliza rejoins Nash & Sons (if she even will, who knows?), will he leave for Paris, or will he stay? Will Eliza go with him perhaps? So many opportunities. I love it.

I wanna see Patrick and Eliza get closer, whether in the form of friendship or perhaps more, I'd be happy with whichever.

I just want to see Eliza thrive with people surrounding her who love, cherish and support her. (Obviously realistically still and deservedly so, it would be boring if it were all sunshine and rainbows, ya know?)

I hope all the pitchfork action on the internet hasn't put too much of a damper on the Miss Scarlet team's excitement that the show's been renewed and they get to work together again.

The only real victim in the Book of Murder is Patrick Phelps.

Georg von Siemens' death is deliberate. The guy was murdered and his death has already been 'planned'.

Sebastian is not even dead, so don't come to me and say that he's a victim. The guy is having too much fun playing corpse.

Poor Patrick Phelps, however, is the one and only victim in this arc and in this Ciel & Sebastian VS Queen Victoria & Charles Grey crazy game. Poor guy was just too scared by a fake corpse and ended up getting killed.

This is over analyzing but I was thinking about how in 4x5, Patrick tells Eliza she needs to play nice with Phelps because he’s not “obliged to tolerate her.”

He refers to Eliza’s “friendship” with William, but still throws out this “tolerate” line. Is Patrick’s assessment of this situation that William tolerated Eliza in regards to her working with Scotland Yard? And he says this to her face?? Eliza objects to the word “tolerate” but why? Because he’s implying something about William that she doesn’t like? Is that a fair assessment? (I would say yeah, William tolerated her first because of Henry then because he thought himself in love with her??)

Why don’t we get to interrogate this further??

What’s my American, non-sports fan brain’s best reference for how famous we think Roy is? Like, the sportsballers I know of and could potentially even recognize out in the wild as someone who does not follow this type of thing at all is limited to like, Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Serena & Venus Williams, Shaq, Tom Brady, Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, Beckham…that’s about it 😂😅 I guess my question is…is Roy Serena Williams famous? Or is he more like, Patrick Mahomes famous (obviously top of his field at the moment and very well known amongst people who follow us football, but let’s be so real…I did not know who that man was before Taylor started dating Travis. I sort of knew of his name, but he could’ve been walking down the street and I wouldn’t have known a thing). Like what status of legend are we talking about here?

Patrick's and Eliza's Relationship Isn't Platonic Friendship (3x06)

After reading the podcast transcript which claimed Scarnash was never intended as a romance, I went back and watched their scenes again. There are any number of looks from Patrick and a few from Eliza that I would interpret as romantic, but I suppose that can be subjective. It also can be hard to discern the exact nature of a relationship, rather than just the value you place on it. In 3x06 however I found solid character aligned evidence of romantic feelings from both Patrick and Eliza.

Patrick's clues were more obvious. William has given Patrick several cases that year (side note, any particular reason he didn't give them to Eliza instead? But I digress.) Patrick knows the value of this relationship to his business. He yells at Eliza for being antagonistic with Phelps in season 4 for this reason. Despite this, he picks fights with William. First, he insults William's progress on the case, and then criticizes him for "making excuses" Later he blames their lack of progress on what William's "friends" did to his office, when he knows perfectly well William had nothing to do with it. He even manages to covertly sticking out his tongue at William whilst ostensibly licking his pen. The only explanation for this out of character behavior is that he views William as a rival. They are not professional rivals here so the only thing it can be is a romantic rivalry.

The second clue that Patrick is romantically interested in Eliza, is how interested he is in William's dinner plans. He stops what he's doing to listen to the exchange, and then prods for more information. Contrast this behavior to Moses', who couldn't care less about who William is meeting for dinner.

Finally Eliza. I actually missed this the first few watches, but then it hit me: Eliza is trying to cook without Ivy. She only has ever done that when Arabella's skills were making her feel insecure about her relationship with William. She is cooking in this episode with no expectation of William joining them. To my recollection she's never offered to cook for Moses. The new element here is Patrick. It doesn't seem like he asked her to either, so this has to be her trying to prove to him that she can. Hilariously, unlike William whose heart is definitely through his stomach, Patrick doesn't give a damn and just runs out and grabs food for them all. She's not good at cooking, he knows it, and after a single teasing line he is ready to move on.
