Emma, with scraped knees and a chipped tooth smile against a face stained with freckles. Emma who still raced her siblings to breakfast and pretended to lose. Emma, staying up for hours to learn the morse code in Minerva’s books, falling asleep in the library. Emma with burn marks on her calloused hands. Emma, auburn hair stained with blood, the smoldering house behind them still not quite burning as much as the determination in her eyes.

Emma who got into fights knew she couldn’t win if there was even a chance of saving someone. Emma, promising to strangers she had never even met, that they would all get out of this hunting ground alive.

I don’t care what it takes, Ray vowed as Emma grew colder by the second, so unlike sunlit days dragging him from the shade, with warm smiles and soft blankets and bitter tea and old books.

I won’t let that happen again.

I’m not going to let you die!

lyrics for every chapter come from Heirloom by sleeping at last! worked really hard on this fic, hope u enjoy! (I personally have a bit of a hard time writing emotional stuff especially for side characters that didn’t get that much development but I did my best to stay in character and it was a fun exercise!)

Headcanon time! The reason Paula usually hides their face is actually them being scarred like this. On their first day in the Goldy Pond, a hunt was announced, and poor young Paula didn't know how to run, how to hide, and was then found by Luce - the biggest douchebag in the whole demon world. Making fun of Paula's chubby cheeks they had back then, Luce did cut them open with his shiny dagger, actually enjoying how much the child was screaming under his grip. But Paula was lucky, since right then, the music would start playing again, and Luce had to let go of them, leaving them behind, since the lil poor soul wasn't dead by then - yet.

Zack and Oliver, also quite fresh in the hunting ground, found Paula and brought them to Lucas. The older man instructed the boys how to treat their wounds and nursed Paula back to health, never knowing if the kid would actually make it, but still trying his best to save another soul.

From this day on, Paula would never forget the kindness of Lucas, Oliver and Zack, but also not Luce's cruelty. They do hide their scars, not because they are ashamed of them, but because their cheeks are quite sensible and other tend to be frightened by their looks. Paula does not want pity, but justice.

And damn Luce if they didn't get it ✊🔫

The cattle children in Gracefield probably wouldn't even have an understanding of PUBERTY since a lot of theories for why we have such low puberty ages include environmental reasons (not to mention puberty might be unappetizing to the demons, otherwise why children? So they might select for later puberty ages) heck, the kids think their brains are fully developed at TWELVE, very much not true. Puberty must be very scary for them...

Dear The Promised Neverland fandom, I'm having a dilemma about the said Paula...

Basically, I saw in what it seems official pages, that Paula is referred as a They/Them (and I also saw a lot of people headcanoning Paula as a non binary)

However... In their wikia page, Paula is referred as a She/Her

So, in the end... What the hell are Paula pronouns?!? Seriously, I'm so confused 😅 (and hoping so hard that they are canonically Non Binary)

Debating whether to make the criminally underexplored platonic dynamics polls into a tournament (with the top two or three from the Grace Field kids, Goldy Pond crew, Lambda/Paradise Hideout gang, and free-for-all rounds advancing to a final round).

I'm also taking suggestions for any of these, either in the reblogs or replies of this post, or as asks or in a DM. The requirement is a panel of the two characters interacting* in the manga or a piece of official Demizu art must be included in the suggestion, or in lieu of the picture itself, the chapter citation of where the panel is in the manga.

love love love the way clothing in tpn is used as a symbol of oppression with the plain pure-white gendered dress code at the farms but also as a symbol of rebellion and liberation post-escape with the bunker uniforms that, while still plain on their own are no longer subject to a rigid dress code and can be modified by the kids however they please, such as gillian altering the longer skirts into short pleated ones to suit hers and other girls' styles and covering hers and the younger kids' shirts in patches and even smaller things that set kids apart like don's short sleeves and nat keeping his shirt tucked in etc etc.

clothing as a rebellion against gender roles where the girls are always shown wearing skirts at gracefield even in the middle of winter, and how they're all dressed exactly the same as the boys during the escape. many of the girls choosing to wear skirts with the bunker uniforms but wearing pants in situations where its more practical or comfortable to do so. emma, the protagonist, never wearing a skirt after the escape. paula, violet, and barbara never being seen in a skirt at all. violet's entire character being a rejection of gender roles.

colored clothing as a form of rebellion in only seeing monocrome button-up uniforms when the kids are on the run and then getting to goldy pond, the first arc where they fight back against the demons head-on, and everyone is wearing unique, brightly colored outfits. how ray specifically is one of the people who have suffered the farm’s oppression the longest due to knowing the farm’s secret from the beginning, and how post timeskip he’s always seen with a blue scarf that sets his outfit apart from all the other black and white uniforms. seeing bright unique clothing again with the lambda squad while they go around blowing up farms and liberating kids.

clothing as a symbol of personal growth with norman wearing a suit during his minerva meltdown because he has taken on the responsibility of protecting and saving every cattle child despite the fact that he himself is only a child, and how afterward he is shown matching with emma, ray, don, and gilda again. main story ray wearing bright white because thats all he was able to wear vs post-canon ray who is always shown wearing black/dark colors because those are the colors that HE likes. i love clothes in tpn
