hey, regular reminder that if you get someone in your inbox (that you have never interacted with before/has never been following you) asking you to reblog a post on their blog (sob story asking for donations, usually about a pet to make it extra guilt-trippy) and they specifically ask you to answer this ask privately (for a vague and weak reason, why wouldn't they want more eyes on this post?) and then you go to their blog and their account is days old at most (and they're even claiming they have an old account that got shadowbanned ((?? being "shadowbanned" on tumblr does not mean you can't still post from that account?)) but never mention the url of that old blog) and all their reblogs are straight from the op and not from anyone they might be following who reblogged the post first (indicating they just quickly searched a semi-popular fandom tag to reblog some innocuous fanart to make the blog seem lived in)-

this is probably a scam :/ keep your eye out for odd details, inconsistency, and a glaring lack of credibility. stay safe out there everypony.

the way this works!

so the deal with vending machine commissions is that they're lower in price because they're on a smaller canvas size (7x9in as opposed to 10x15in) and because they have a specific visual theme/creative limitations!

email me at [email protected] with something like 'vending machine commission' in the subject, tell me the elements you want, and also the characters! I'll email you back confirming it all, and then send you an invoice! (this email here is not my paypal email, so do not send money ahead of time, I will be using invoices)

if you want to tell me about the mood you have in mind, I'd love to hear it! yearning, playful, flirty, etc. additionally, if you have OCs, visual references are a huge help, even just face claims of actors.

I will check in once while I work on these, just so that you can see the direction it's heading in and give you an ETA on when it'll be done! unlike regular commissions, which are a lot more collaborative and have weekly check-ins, these are specific in nature, they're meant to invoke a specific type of illustration visual :)

a note on the poses: these are basically bases for me to reference. smaller adjustments to the poses will be made based on the characters, the tone of the interaction, etc. feel free to request your characters kissing, by the way! but also please only do this if the pose you picked has made it anatomically possible, the neck can only twist so much. you may not request a pose that isn't in the folder.

you can skip this wall of text its just about the scam this illustration was involved in.

This fairly ordinary illustration of two hands holding was involved in a very weird and convoluted scam. Last month I was commission to illustrate this image for invitations meant to go out for a supposed wedding anniversary coming up in March. The whole commission seemed odd to me I mainly draw dinosaurs and aliens. Not many people know I also draw people but the buyer who called himself Petterson Reid was offering to pay 300 up front and 200 after the work was finished. A nice offer for what was a very simple illustration. I took the job and sent him a very rough sketch of the hands to show him what the final image might look like. He liked the sketch and told me to finish the image after he sent the first payment I went ahead and finished the image that night. I held onto the picture to see if he would really send the 300 dollars first. The buyer wanted to send a check by mail which is weird but I thought he might have been a boomer who didn't understand how to use PayPal. His emails and text seemed like something my grandmother would write very proper and overly polite. I was fairly suspicious of him and waited to see if a check would actually be delivered. To my surprise a check did arrive a week later from Petterson Reid except it was for 2,790 dollars. knowing this was far too much money I asked him if it was a mistake. He said the extra money was for a PayPal invoice to the printers involved in the invitations. He wanted me to use the extra money on the check to pay the printers on his behalf. Again very weird but I chalked it up to an old person who didn't know how to pay online. I cashed the check the next day, since it was from an out of state bank they were putting it on hold for 3 days to see if the funds would clear. I told the buyer about the three day waiting period and asked for the invoice I was suppose to be paying and he went absolutely ape shit. He claimed I was trying to steal his money and was threatening to pursue legal action I was completely shocked by the change in attitude. I had to mute my phone because he kept sending wave after wave of threatening texts. At this point I was 90% sure this was some sort of scam but when I called the bank they said there was nothing to do until the hold expired. I was confident it wouldn't then to my surprise the check cleared and the money was in my account. At this point I had the finished artwork and the money so I wanted to get this crazy asshole on his way so I wouldn't have to deal with him anymore. I told him to send the invoice for the printer and I would pay it with the money on the check then I would send the picture and our business would be done. This prick sends some half assed looking invoice with a payable link on PayPal. When I try to pay, it says payment will be held till Feb 7th. Apparently this date is too late for the printers so now that processing payment has been canceled by the printer in favor of a new payment process through Zelle. I was trying to figure out what was going on, if its a scam what is the take the entirety of the check was still in my account it didn't even say it was pending. I go to pay on Zelle and discover the 2,790 dollars has been rescinded by the bank. I call and learn this ass hair had sent a forged check to the bank in an effort to have me pay these fake invoices with my own money. He guessed the bank would deposit the check without fully vetting it for the standard 10 days since I'm a long time member. He knew he had until about five a clock that day before the bank would catch the discrepancy. He was posing as the printer in order to scam 4,740 dollars from me through both attempted payment methods. luckily for me I'm broke as hell right now and didn't have the money in my own account to cover either payment with out the check. everything has been taken care of now I just thought I better share this story since I've never seen a scam like this before. It took an entire month for him to essentially get nothing I really don't know what to think of any of this its such a weird scheme.

My name is Eben and I am a bi trans man who is getting his graduate degree in art education for grades 5-12. I also make stop motion and 2D animations and play d&d when I’m not teaching after school art lessons.

Last Wednesday (4/19) I had to put my cat Mila down after work and spent the rest of the day burying her. This was after another vet 7 days ago, where we did a procedure where she was likely not going to make it. She was 12 years old and I miss her so much, it hurts especially bad because I was in the process of legally making her my emotional support animal.

On Saturday I drove to the town my sister lives in and parked the car outside the gym we were going to together. One hour later I come outside and see that my car window has been smashed to pieces (along with 3 other cars) and my backpack has been stolen. Inside of that backpack was 2 years worth of teachers notes and lesson plans for every art class I’ve ever taught, which i have no way of replacing. My parents said they would take care of the car bills and I can replace most of the things in my backpack, which I have listed on my throne.

To top it all off, I got an email from my university telling me that tuition costs have been raised by 8% to make up for the time that It didn’t increase during the pandemic. Today they sent me an invoice for my summer semester of college, which I need to pay in a month.

This has been an extremely stressful past week for me and I really need some help either replacing the things that were stolen from me or helping me pay for the vet bills and college tuition. Please share this around if you can’t help directly!

Terms of service

general:

Commissioner can re-upload the image with credits.

The art is for personal use and cannot be used commercially, claimed as your own work, fed into an AI learning software, or turned into an NFT. 

I reserve the right to post the commission on social media (you can ask to be tagged or remain anonymous) or use the finished art in my portfolio.

The estimated completion time is roughly 1-4 weeks. 

Commissions are first come first serve. If you need a commission done quickly or by a certain deadline, let me know and I’ll let you know if I can get it done in time.

Large revisions that add a lot of time to the commission work will up the price. (redoing finished sketch from scratch, changing up large details in the rendering stage)

Once I’ve accepted your commission and am ready to start drawing is when I’ll request the payment. once I have the payment I’ll start drawing. 

I’ll send the sketches for revisions, and for the flat colours+ updates if it is a longer process.

Once these things are to your liking I’ll finish the commission and send it to you. You can request a couple of changes to the finished art within 24 hours of my completing it.

hi all: unfortunately my financial situation has changed and so i need to lower my prices below what my work is worth.

i have been prescribed a $30,000 medicine that fortunately my insurance approved, which means i still need to pay my $1,800 out of pocket before i can get it. there is also a hurricane i am prepping for. not only do i have to save money for my medicine but i will be missing out on work as well. i do not start my freelancing job for at least another month or so.

half body sheets are now $50 for a single outfit and undergarments, and $75 for two outfits (may incur additional charges based on complexity.)

sketch sheets for one character two sketches are $40 and couples are now $55.

reasons the QSMP admin situation might be taking so long to resolve

ONE: Discord.

Company communications happened over Discord. If people were using their personal accounts, which the company didn't have access to, trying to get DM logs out of people who have left or been fired and who may not be cooperating would be nearly impossible. Which means that if communications were happening in DMs, the studio may not have access to them at all. And things that Quackity Studios loses access to if they lose access to the private DMs of managers include:

Any promises regarding pay, promotions, or other compensation that was put in writing

Any discussion of responsibilities and/or employees job descriptions

Any paper trails of employee attempts to resolve issues or make complaints or otherwise seek help.

Any one of those things, let alone all of them, would be enough to cause an enormous logistical nightmare in terms of finding out what even happened.

TWO: Paypal.

The QSMP seems to have been using Paypal for transactions, according to the screenshots Lea posted. This is a terrible idea, for several reasons, including:

Paypal seizing funds and locking them arbitrarily is not uncommon

The records there are NOT meticulous and Paypal is opt-in for paper statements, which I doubt the studio did

PAYPAL IS NOT FDIC INSURED

It is very possible they weren't even using Paypal's invoicing system, leading to yet more problems with paper trails.

THREE: Taxes.

whatever amount of capital was initially invested in the QSMP is clearly not there now; Quackity has a year's worth of transactions which he needs to go through because proper procedures were not in place, with, as discussed, no paper trail

what employment entailed, what pay entailed, and what taxes were/were not paid may be one of the things he is seeking legal advice about

it is extremely possible that whoever was onboarding people was not in compliance with accepted HR procedures for legal employment

worse, it's extremely possible they were treating all employees/volunteers as contractors, but the working conditions that admins put forth sound a lot like de facto employment

which means depending on the number of US de facto employees, especially if compensation was promised, may put the QSMP out of compliance with US legal requirements for health insurance offerings

if anyone (who was a US citizen paying US taxes) got paid, were they issued W-2s or 1099s by the studio? Is Quackity facing down the April 15th tax filing date potentially out of compliance with federal requirements for the issuance of tax forms to contractors and employees?

AND THIS IS BEFORE EVEN GETTING INTO INTERNATIONAL REGULATIONS OR ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE FRENCH.

Quackity cannot make promises of anything— not pay, not positions, not specific people being fired— or discuss proceedings before all of this is sorted out.

To be clear, this is not a defense of the studio. This is a condemnation in the strongest terms I can offer. Things should not have gotten to this point.

But if you're wondering what could possibly be taking so long, or why the discord has been locked down, or why they might be hesitant to fire managers who would have access to what limited paper trail might still exist— I expect this is part of it.

Also, if someone tells you they will pay you for something, get that in writing. In an email. I am going to go scream now and possibly start drinking.
