Try to make it out to music events (especially those attached to record labels). You often find those type of connects there. Networking is key in this industry.

 Yeah networking is important, I come across a lot of higher up people regularly but through experience I'm starting to feel like I'd rather gain fans who really like my music and know people, hence gain me a connect through word of mouth. Usually when I approach possible connections myself they act like assholes lol, honestly. I've come to this realization this last month especially.
