I just wanted to ask about when you said this:

do you think this could have anything to do with why the r!ciel and the other dolls need to "drink" blood? and why they seem saner/actually conscious compared to the ones on the campania?

like maybe there's trace amounts of a humans soul in their blood? and so since the campania dolls didn't get blood transfusions (I'm assuming) from UT, they went out trying to gain what they don't have.

but if there are parts of souls in human blood, then that mindless need to find a soul can be subsided bc the more advanced dolls actually HAVE bits of souls in them? but it runs out eventually which is why they need to keep having more transfusions from living people. (maybe the blood isn't going bad or anything, there's just no soul left in it)

my personal idea/hc for the kuro universe is that a soul is like a kind of energy source for consciousness, and the cinematic record is powered by it. UT can edit the record, but he can't get it up and running again, and making new memories without something to power it.

so a human is like a computer, a soul is like the electricity in it, the brain is the hardware (UT can't bring someone back if the brain is destroyed), and the cinematic record is the software if that makes sense?

How bizarre dolls work

You make some good points, but there's one thing missing up there: the bizarre dolls that are the link between the mindless ones on the Campania and these highly advanced ones he calls "lords of the stars". Agares, Derrick, and his pals are the first bizarre dolls we meet who are capable of speech. The students weren't particularly good vessels for this technique, since they didn't seem to have many "episodes", but Agares was better. Before he resorts back to the mindless, speechless, biting variety, he knows something is wrong and that he isn't going to hold onto his mind much longer.

They were not receiving blood transfusions, so no injection of "trace amounts" of soul, as you say. And yet they were talking, and Agares could actually think for himself a little bit; Agares might have even been creating new memories to store on his cinematic records. Don't know that I can say the same for Derrick or the others, though.

Anyway, somewhat advanced bizarre dolls (like Agares) can go just fine on "episodes" alone, and Undertaker says real Ciel is "chock full" of such episodes. What's weird is how the most advanced bizarre dolls wear out (and can even collapse) when their blood levels go down or run out of nutrients. The less advanced bizarre dolls moved around without fresh blood... and sometimes big chunks missing. So, what makes these most advanced ones so reliant on the blood? Is it like an addiction?! Layla biting people because her cravings are so strong kind of suggests so.

Truth is, we don't know much about all the different techniques Undertaker is using now, on top of altering cinematic records and transfusing blood. There could be meds/drugs involved, since there was previous talk about a group doing drug development. Didn't Stoker say that's what the Osiris group was, a drug development organization?

So, the soul or "trace amounts" of soul aren't needed to keep the cinematic records going. It isn't even needed to make bizarre dolls talk and create new memories.

I'm not entirely sure blood has "trace amounts of soul" in it, despite what I said in the screenshot you captured. More like: what if the demon sucked up the blood seeping through and that drew the soul out, turned the blood into a conduit for the soul? Does that make any sense?

Idk. Perhaps the blood "naturally" has something in it that makes bizarre dolls feel like they are getting something soul-like out of it. Even Sebastian has been seen licking his own blood (circus arc), and s2's Claude reacts rather oddly to tasting the blood that splashes onto his face. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Whatever that something is, it definitely doesn't last. Perhaps if Undertaker could get their kidneys working again.... Maybe blood and soul interact within the body, and blood collected for transfusion doesn't take away from the donor's soul in any way, so not even trace amounts being removed, but that blood has some residue of another kind or some special quality, simply from having recently been in contact with a living soul. Again 🤷🏻‍♀️. There sure is the phrase, though: "heart and soul".

But the soul definitely has the essence of someone's true personality. They can be conscious without it, but they have no real conscience. Without that essence, their driving force (provided by episodes) is two-dimensional or superficial. They need souls for their full depth of character.

Just the mention of what he did, despite knowing that she was still mourning her love for Steve Rogers, was enough to have her quirking her lips in clear annoyance. She cared for Howard, but that always got under her skin,

“Attempted, at least , I decided to push him into the Thames; they had to fish him out while he was splashing around - I happened to forget he had a small fear of water.” 

There’s a faint smirk; Peggy Carter was a sophisticated woman, but she was not above being petty,

“I felt like I needed to tell you; honesty is a staple of a good relationship after all.” 

She offers him a smile, hoping Steve won’t be too upset about any of this. She knew he and Tony were good friends, and, he and Howard were also good friends - she didn’t want to taint any of that. But she couldn’t not tell him,

“Are you okay Steve?”

Steve pulled the baseball cap over his blond hair and set the lightly tinted sunglasses over his eyes, the perfect disguise for the team when they went out and about in public sure he wore his cowl but Steve wasn’t exactly living a double life as a hero so that did mean anyone who spotted him out of uniform was likely to recognize him at any moment. Steve didn’t always mind have people flock to him to meet or even extend their thanks and apperception his way but he wanted to take Peggy out to the newest exhibit in the museums hero wing. Sure she could more get away with not needing to hide but he still wanted to make sure nothing ruined their date beside he was pretty excited for the newest editions they added and felt she would enjoy it. Offer his arm her way as she smiles and took it he lead her inside and went to the wing they were here for. Nina been talking his ear off about this newest edition because of course she managed to see it first before most. That was how Steve found out they had some additions about Peggy herself and even Howard. Taking her right to that section past the mentions of Steve and Bucky as he smiled a little looking at her for her expression.

“They didn’t have much before but seems they added kind of surprised Howard was more in this though considering the whole being rich and father of Tony another Avenger.” Thinking about that now though maybe they had more about him in the Ironman area? Steve eyeing a photo with Peggy and Howard together “You know something’s aside” like the fact Howard also had a thing for Peggy, went unsaid of course “I do kind of miss him but I’m sure you might more you guys were friend after all right?” Steve asked course back then he was more then a little jealous about that so called friendship. Sure he was also sort of friends with Howard but the guy wasn’t exactly making eyes his way so it was justified clearly to Steve. Peggy didn’t say much she seemed a bit quite once Howard was brought up Steve crocked his head to the side a bit looking over at Peggy. “You okay Pegs? It’s not the place right I just though might enjoy seeing all this since you’ve been in the present for a good while now” steve went on starting a apology only for Peggy to speak up now.

“Steve, if we’re going to be married, I feel like there’s something I need to tell you,”

Peggy states as she goes and takes Steve’s hand, that was concurring he had to admit but he kept the thought to himself waiting f Peggy to have a chance to speak now only nodding his head as. Response for now. lready his mind was whirling wondering what it was, it must be something though if she felt th need to be bring it up in the first place.

Of course Steve noticed the way she went and smirked at that fact being mentioned, making it clear that despite the wording she did not happen to forget that and it was instead very well intended and well part of him wanted to indulge in this little bit from her confession at Howard expense at that even but he was just a bit too fixed on that bit about why Peggy had pushed him into the Thames in the first place he had tried to kiss her. Okay yeah fair this was so fucking, wow Steve language. Alright once again that was so fucking…okay yeah he wasn’t getting past this even if it had happened so far back then. Look Steve sense of time was a bit off from most people seeing how to him the war was more like some months ago over decades and it was no longer referred to that way either because of of all this.

Steve looked at Peggy as she offered up tat famous smile his way, one that got him week in the knees the first time he saw it and likely even Howard themself, but it did little to comfort Steve in the moment considering he was still trying to swallow the fact that same man tried to kiss his girl. Okay that may be possessive but come on Howard knew Steve liked her there had to be some kind of thing about that right? Steve was being ridicouls wasn’t he? Yeah sure and he could see and understand that being the case. As eyes averted and looked over to the image he pointed out before, look at Howard standing there as if he hadn’t done a single thing wrong. Steve quirk his lips a bit chewing this over. Being mindful and a complete sane man about it. When Peggy’s voice cu through his thoughts and got him to turn back to look her way now.

“Are you okay Steve?” 

No. “Yeah of course.” Lair. “Peggy I appreciate you telling me about the kiss, and you know you make a good point since we are engaged and are going to get hitched even sharing this stuff is important. So in honor of that.” Steve started of with as if he was building up to what he was about to say next and not needing to think it over, nah his mind was made up pretty much on the matter. “I need to leave and meet up with Tony, when you first came here he was working on a way to send you back and knowing him he likely still has the thing set up somewhere. So I’m gonna see about getting it up and running again so I may pay Howard a visit and hit him.” Steve explain as if this all was sound proof logic in the moment to think or even say to Peggy in the first place. leaning over he kisses her cheek and start to make his way out “you keep looking around though I don’t know how time travel works but I’m pretty sure I’ll still be awhile so don’t wait up alright?” Making haste before Peggy could try and stop him, there was no way she could talk him out of it but she could likely stop him in his track ad he rather not risk his shot and getting a hit on that farm Howard Stark now, he was sure Tony wouldn’t mind helping either.

What if S2E05

Ew. Genuinely do not recommend watching, purely from a writing point of view. It feels like I've just watched someone wanking off to themselves and walked away covered in goo.

I'm just saying 90% of the fanfics on AO3 is less stomach-churning than this crap.

This episode starts off with just...the most wankerish introduction ever from The Watcher. What is this, 6th grade creative writing? His speech was basically "the bestest Mary Sue to ever Mary Sue is to Mary Sue in this upcoming Mary Sue episode! Did I tell you she's a Mary Sue?"

They really just...cut Sam out of his first and major appearance in the MCU. I mean...between Sam's glaring omission and somehow having the lead Widow antagonist (other than Melina) being a Black woman, in an episode featuring Ms Brexit...I'm not saying you should join the dots but the dots be damn there.

How come she gets to yell at Fury and Nat for hiding Steve from her but everyone is pretending that Steve would be fine with Peggy never telling him about Bucky. The math ain't mathing.

Fury tells her to sit out of the fight and Peggy whirls on him with the most possessive Karen snarl, "I'm Peggy Carter and we're talking about ~Steve Rogers~" Just. EW.

Steve literally has no personality or character beyond "UwU I just wanna be your lover~" the whole way, which. The writing was just not good enough to carry off and it just comes across like a juvenile self-insert fanfic.

OH FFS Not only is she stealing this whole Winter Soldier storyline she gotta steal NAT'S MOVES of beating up the Winter Soldier just FOR FUCK'S SAKE GET YOUR OWN PLOT WOMAN.

"Even in Russia girls grow up dreaming of being Captain Carter."

I can't believe this script got greenlit. She's the best she's flawless she's got a perfect love story and everyone wanna be her! Without showing you anything that proves that.

Pffft the shield dropping and the sob story (which Steve fanfic did they lift that monologue from because it sounds awfully familiar). At least they didn't try pulling the end of the line.

Oh and Steve saves her ass at the end of the day.

So not only is she a Mary Sue, she's a Mary Sue who still fucking needs a man to finish off her job. Like. This is the dumbest kind of story telling.

Sebastian doing an old man voice was the much needed breath of fresh air in this episode until I remember that it was probably a trial run for his Trump voice.

BTW Bucky clearly was not a morally corrupt character like Pierce and I guess...no shit, he wasn't the one who used Operation Paperclip to recruit Zola into the organisation, but I'm not sure the general audience would make that distinction.

Episode 2 of What If Season 2 poked the Peggy hornet’s nest and did exactly what I thought it would. 

So, for context, in this reality Yondu actually handed Peter Quill over to Ego when he was supposed to, and within just 6 months Ego was able to corrupt his son into a conqueror, so they invade Earth together. Peggy is director of SHIELD at the time, and she and Howard work together to assemble a proto-Avengers team to stop them. The team consists of Hank Pym, Bill Foster, T’Chaka, Thor, Wendy Lawson (who I think is from Captain Marvel), and… wait for it… the Winter Motherfucking Soldier. 

Yes, for real.

And because I know you’re thinking it, the excuse given is that he is in the hands of the Russians during this time, so Peggy and Howard couldn’t possibly have known about it UwU. Anyway, when they see him there’s a super drawn-out moment where they both think they recognize him (and it’s while he still has the mask on, so while this probably wasn’t intentional I actually read that as yet another middle finger to Steve, as Peggy could apparently recognize Bucky even under his disguise while Steve couldn’t). And then, Howard says, I shit you not: “I'd heard the rumors, but even if they’re true, the man we knew is long-gone, Peg, and we have bigger fish to fry.” And then later in the episode, with no segway from that to this, there’s a scene where they’re all together and the Winter Soldier has his mask off, and actually speaks. 

So, at least in this universe, Howard and Peggy are 100% aware that Bucky Barnes is in fact the Winter Soldier. Later on in the episode Howard attempts to get through to him, but only when it becomes a necessity to save the world (because he is about to kill Peter Quill while Hank is trying to convince him to turn on Ego), but it’s still pretty damning. And then at the end of the episode, rather than trying to rehabilitate him, they just let him go. Like, it’s not the same situation as Steve where he was out cold and unable to do anything, they could have taken Bucky in and tried to break his programming, but they didn’t. It’s left ambiguous what will happen to him after that, so it’s not like they sent him back to Hydra, but Hydra is still out there in this universe, so my hopes aren’t high.

TLDR; this episode attempts to handwave away the very strong possibility that the Howard and Peggy of the Prime Timeline knew what was happening to Bucky, but in doing so unintentionally made them look so much worse.

So they use Bucky while brainwashed and/or still with Hydra's BS in his mind, and they don't even care to help him out after? They see a victim and they use him and then turn away from him, not caring about his well-being? And, I assume, Howard and Lady Brexit are still framed as good guys? And how are they any better than Hydra in that story?! The absolute nerve...

Once I read the spoilers a few days ago and saw they were going to have her as Director of SHIELD, I just knew they were going to absolve her of everything and never have her answer for any of her actions. And of course the only one who says he had "heard rumours" was Howard, not her. She's an angelic glorious being incapable of doing anything wrong. What in the absolute narrative protection is this...

Howard and Miss Brexit couldn't possibly know about Bucky... yeah, right. Except for the fact that they knew what Zola had done, because Steve told them, and they still willingly worked alongside him, even gave him a nickname. Oh Arnie, my beloved, wasn't it fun when you tortured Steve's best friend? Let's have some beer. I don't see how Miss "I shoot innocents when I'm jealous" Brexit could have recognized Bucky considering she didn't give a damn about him after Steve risked his own life against her wishes to save him, but apparently in this she can tell who he is even with a mask on? Damn girl, did you inject the serum in him yourself?

And I'm sorry but what is this... “I'd heard the rumors, but even if they’re true, the man we knew is long gone.” Excuse me? Oh, good enough to use but not good enough to save? How is the everloving hell is that even a line?! Oh my god, Marvel, just say you hate Bucky and go. I don't get it, what, he's the guy who ruins their beloved Steggy nonsense and they can't help themselves, they have to drag him through the mud for daring to be more important to Steve than Miss Brexit here? (And I say that as a non-shipper but holy crap, this is nuts.)

Not even in another timeline are these two somewhat redeemable. And Bucky is fucked up no matter what. Typical.

So the Infinity Saga had Stark as their golden boy and now it's Agent Brexit's time to shine... Will the Hero Cinematic Universe ever provide any heroes of narrative protection or are they going to choose the bad ones only? Oh, you're a soldier kidnapped, tortured and brainwashed? Go ahead and make amends, you monster. Oh, you willingly worked for the TVA and tortured and killed because you wanted to? Poor you, let us frame you as good and pat you on the back, you sweet thing.

Plz explain then the travesty that is love and thunder

A trainwreck directed by an egotistical six-year-old in a leech of a man's body who thinks he's a screenwriter and still plays pretend with his uwu self-insert OC.

.... real talk, though, in short:

The real travesty of Love and Thunder is that Thor is already made of love and thunder, and simultaneously Jane is the love to his thunder, and the MCU, through taika wai-feck-off, decided he can be neither of those things, and have no nice things. Thor is the most tragic character in the ENTIRETY of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and yes, I do think more tragic than Wanda.

He has lost :

his entire home planet

his people

his entire family of four (no hela does not count he was not connected to her and should have been odin's sister)

before which he lost his brother (his platonic soulmate, to boot) a total of 3 times emotionally, two of those physically

he lost his ENTIRE friend group because his half-sister murdered Volstagg, Hogun and Faendral; he never reconnected with Sif

his only good mentor/parental figure (heimdal) was stabbed through the heart in front of him

he lost his dignity, his crown, his birthright (voluntarily and otherwise)

he lost his self-worth, his sense of direction (bc the writers legitimately thought his arc was about stepping down from the crown instead of making it his own and growing into it in his own way, by his own merits, at his own pace and gave it to some literally no-name side character that showed up for one movie and never respected thor in the first place to even earn his title from him smh)

and taika's idea of rectifying any of this .... is to give him some random child he doesn't know, that he doesn't care for, and manipulate him into taking her under his wing not because of the kindness and limitless love of his own heart even after shutting himself down post!endgame, but because jane asked him to as her dying wish — and then say that THAT is his happy ending.

Tell me why Thor, the longest standing of the Big Three, the king of the stars, the hero who is by all respects the embodiment of love, gets no companionship, no friends, no home, no place to belong, when Tony got a hero's send off and Steve got to be with an alt!dimension Peggy.

Other than being the name of a notorious demon (affectionate), Meghan is part of a HUGE name family. It's a variant spelling of Megan (yes, that came first - the H was added for flavor I guess), which came into English from Welsh, where it was a diminutive of Marged, the Welsh version of the Roman Margarita, from the Ancient Greek "margarites" meaning "pearl."

One fun thing about this name family is that many different name "groups" (different spellings of the same basic name) came to English from Margarita, filtered through various languages. French gave us Margo; Italian, Rita; Swedish, Greta; German, Gretchen; Scottish, Maisie. Margery and Margaret came directly to English from Margarita, which gave us Madge, Peggy, and Maggie. "Meg," actually has two etymological paths - one through Meghan and one through Margaret!

In the US, Megan is a somewhat generation-specific name. Australia followed a similar trajectory to the US, but Canada, Scotland, and Ireland Megans peaked higher, faster, and a little later. It's still massively popular in the UK and Wales.

10. Worst part of fanon

Honestly I don't know much that would be considered "fanon" because if someone has an HC that differs from mine I just ignore it and pretend I didn't see that.

And I'm not so involved in the fandom that I see HCs that are commonly accepted by most people.

I guess my least favorite HC is that Jack is in love with Peggy. I've never once felt that at all. I think he has a respect and admiration for her towards the end of s2 that gets read as him being all "uwu Marge".

i block freely and liberally tbh, so there are a million answers to this. people over-uwuing bucky get a block (there was one person in particular who KEPT arguing with me that bucky wasn't that old when he "died" when i was kind of flippantly saying that bucky was 107 years old and thus knew better than to pull all the shit he did in tfatws). people being weird and shitty about peggy carter get a block. people who shit on (and then tag!) star trek alternate original series hate get a block, and the same for overly vocal star trek: discovery haters.

new people get blocked often if i keep seeing them put [not sam] x reader fics in the sam tag, or if they're posting those shitty incorrect quotes that just make it seem like sam and bucky fucking despise each other and are insanely mean and cruel to each other for no goddamn reason

so the answer to this is basically "i have a small number of people i'm happy to see on my dash and if you're not one of them and i see you doing annoying shit you're probably getting blocked" lmao

that joaquín is afraid of bucky!!!!! i don't see it as much anymore but it used to be everywhere and it always drove me crazy. joaquín does nothing but tease bucky literally the entire time we see them interact in tfatws, but so many fics had him like nervous as hell any time bucky was around. absolutely not. joaquín and sam tag team to roast the hell out of bucky at every opportunity

also outside of certain beloved aus, bucky can't cook worth shit and i will die on this hill. that man's love language might be acts of service and he might be a trophy house husband but he is not making sam fancy dinners to come home to every night or else he'd burn the whole house down!!! he does, however, have all of sam's favorite takeout places on speed dial and regularly does maintenance work for all the ladies around town in exchange for sam's favorite homecooked meals

25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing

that steve going back in time to peggy was abandoning bucky. i have a lot of mixed feelings about steve's ending (i've loved steggy since i was like 12 years old, so seeing them get to have their happy ending did make me happy, but he went about it SO wrong with re: sam that it soured a good bit of that happiness), but the one thing i'm absolutely sure about is that steve did not abandon bucky. bucky knew steve was going, told him beforehand what his plans were and who he was giving the shield to. it was sam that he left without talking to, that he dumped a huge complicated legacy on and peaced out without another word. but i still hear the "poor bucky, steve abandoned him!" shit like every day, and i hate it more and more each time

Standing in the park at night just admiring how quiet it was Nina idly bounced the orange basketball up and down with her hand listening to it smack against the blacktop. It was a run-down park rusted metal that had replaced what was once bright vibrate painted poles of the swing set and playset. Not dangerous to play on just a park that wasn't high on the list of ones to have for upkeep. One swing out of the three was broken the chain had snapped and just left to hang. The ball was bounced once more bounced higher up so Nina could grab it and throw it at the hoop. The net had been long stolen years ago and the backboard was aged and covered in stickers and graffiti of anyone who could manage to reach the thing. Street lights had started to turn on along the side walks as Nina watched the ball sink into the hoop and bounce its way back to her. She knelt to to stop it as it rolled back to her. Head shoot up when hearing a women call out for her kid to come inside now and she watched a little girl in the yard just across the park gather up her things and trot up the stairs. She couldn't hear them from her she simply just imagied the conversation between them. Nina had no cule how a mom talked to her kid she figuered they were mean like the step mom in Cinderella in the least. Soon standing up as she glanced around seeing the same scene at a few other houses. She shifted the ball under her arm and decided it was time to head back in too.

It was such a random thing to come to mind just now as Nina was ildy dribbling a basketball in the court room of one of the gyms at the tower. metal hand couldn't feel the texture of the ball but she knew it well. Taking it between both her hands as she soon threw it at the ground for Brooklyn to try and catch. Snorting a bit when it fell out of her sister's hold. "Sorry sis" she said as she went to get it herself "Wasn't anything much like I said I lived all sorts of places." Nina nearly forgot what they had been talking about before as she strolled to where the ball had rolled away to. "sinc my ..eh theres not a nice word for this but parent wasn't in the picture. Either of em' but guess it left me always curious about what it be like to at least have a mom you know?" Nina offered up as she picked the ball up. "From what the case worker told me, the one who gave brith to me didn't want me." She tried to cover up the sting those words held "Charlotte, my case worker" Nina added in as she idly turned the ball in her hand making her way to the bench to sit down now.

"She wasn't like a mom to me she was just in charge of me, making sure I was behaving an' all. She saw me go through so many different homes. She was nice an all but eh" shurging her shoulders up as she started to toss the ball back and forth between her hands. It got quite once more. Nina didn't like talking about her past much she rather focus forward then dwell on what can't be changed now. Poor Nina the girl who was unwanted by her mother, and abanonded by her father. Least thats how it always came across to herself. Pathic.

"I always thought Peggy Carter was cool, I mean hard not to come across her name when you look up stuff on Captian America. I remember sitting in class the first time her name was mentioned and how sad I was we never heard more about her. Blame the school system for that you don't get much time for a unit and they cram so much in a lot gets left out." Holding the ball in one hand as she just waved that all off it wasn't her point right now.

"Meeting her in person though? I can kind of understand why pops stayed hooked on her ya know?" Smiling brighter now "I mean despite a lot she clearly knows how to stand firm on her stances and she dosent back down like at all. I dont think I've ever seen anyone talk to Tony like she dose or anyone loke okay yeah I ain't scared of people either but Peggy seems to know how to lole command someone's attetion and she just like earns it from the moment she speaks up. But she isn't just this serious stern person she's real down to earth. I aint never feel lole she's talkin' down to us. Like fair the rest have knows us since we were teens but Peggy despite us being younger doesn't base how she speaks towards us off our age." It was something easy to admire about the women “I know you and I got a whole world of difference on experiences but well..I never had someone to really kind of well seeing in hat kind of light. I mea from a” A loss for words? No Nina more just didn’t want to express what she was thinking it was hard to fess up to when she admired people. “Look it just growing up there was always this position in my life left empty not even an attempt of someone but getting to know her an how she’s coming into pop’s life and by extension ours maybe I finally have that?”
