Random headcannons for FFXV in general, because I would love to know more about it, and there is not enough info for my gremlin brain.

Galadh:

- I kinda see clan Lazarus like those who deal with foreign policy. Also lot of Lazaruses married non-galadhian, they just loves other cultures. (They are still loyal to Galadh)

- Galadh is in my opinion similiar to the Greek islands. Mainly few big ones and then lot of small ones. There is a definitively volcano.

- Galadh is also known for its natural hot springs. Glaives definitively were chilling there.

- Galadh officially worships Astrals, Ramuh and Leviathan are the main protectors. There is also a very strong bond with the ancestors.

- Clans have totem animals. (Ulrics have coeurl, Arras have sabertusk, Ostiums have kujata, ...)

- A beautiful legend is attached to it´s origin. Once upon a time, during a great disaster, there were a few animals that went to help humans to survive it. But in the process they have died themselves. Their human friends wheeped to Astrals about this woe. They heard their plea and united the man with the animal.

Random:

- Regis remembers all names and faces of his employes

- Clarus hair fell out during stress from both of his idiots. The idiots in question are Regis and Cor

- Cor and Titus are actually good friends who are little shits together (Glaives and guards are dreading those days when two of them are together)

- There is annual boot camp where glaives and guards measure their forces

- Luche either doesn´t sleep at all or is having short power naps during day. He´s got nightmares about Galadh and his fallen comrades.

- Nyx hair and beard grows super fast, he needs to shave it at least every three days. He tries to shave it when deployed, but Nyx just gave up after that.

- Tredd´s got younger brother who is still in Galadh. Their relationship is sadly very complicated. But Tredd always sends him a birthday card nonethless.

- Axis is great at bargaining prices at the market, also always picks the juiciest vegetables/fruits. (I believe this is some kind of superpower)

- Sonitus has sharp teeth (they looks like shark ones), he can open cans with it or beers.

- Pelna plays exceptionaly guitar and ukulele. Sometimes brings it to Yamachang for a spin.

- Libertus is suprisingly good singer when he gets little bit of alcohol into his system. Everyone always shut up and listens when Lib starts to sing. (Usually galadh tunes)

- Crowe loves to go on night ride with her motorcycle. Has favourite spot where she can see whole Insomnia. Usually sends gang a random photos she took on the way.

- Titus favourite place to relax is at top of Citadel at night. The night sky is breathtaking. He usually brings some alcohol to drink his sorrows and regrets away.

Kingsglaive Legends 2023! Organised by @calling4glaives

Day 2: AU & Life After (Feat. Luche & Nyx, Pelna, Crowe, Libertus and Drautos)

I’m classing this as an AU even though it will appear in my fic, because I am intending most of the Glaive to survive… so it’s kind of AU but most of the main plot of the game and film still happens

Little context: at the start of The Long Night, Cor and Titus buy a penthouse apartment in Lestallum and they get bunk beds to accommodate their close friends and “family” so that they all have a safe place to live and don’t have to worry about accommodation themselves… also there’s a little teaser to Violet and Nyx’s relationship ☺️🥰

A year into The Long Night

Luche climbed the stairs to the apartment he shared with the rest of the Glaive, he’d just got back to Lestallum after a supply run.

He unlocked the door and pushed it open, being hit by the strong smells of curry being prepared in the kitchen, Libertus was working with Crowe to prepare the evening meal for everyone, there were a lot of people living in this apartment, so Libertus was hard at work, throwing various spices into the large 2 handled pan, while Crowe was carving up the Dualhorn steaks into bite sized cubes.

“Hey, Luche!” Nyx stepped out the bathroom, he had clearly just had a shower, “how’d your supply run go?”

“Ok, not great, we didn’t get much, but I did manage to bring back some more resources for the Power Station, so it wasn’t a complete loss” Nyx clapped him on the shoulder while Luche looked around, it seemed to him that they were the only ones in the large apartment at the moment. “Where is everyone?”

“Pelna was called to help Monica with some communication problems, Drautos and Cor had a meeting with Holly, Violet was helping Iris at her shop and the Kings friends are still out on a mission, most of them will be back soon” Nyx pointed over his shoulder to the bathroom, “we’ve still got some hot water and you’ve got time for a shower if you want, dinner is probably going to be another hour or so”

By the time Luche had showered and changed most of the others who lived in the apartment had arrived; Titus was now helping Libertus and Crowe prepare dinner, Cor was discussing something with Pelna and Iris was bouncing her nephew on her knee while Nyx and Violet sat together on the opposite sofa, Violet saw Luche leave the bathroom and gave him a smile.

Luche had been so unsure about the apartment at first, the idea of so many people sharing a space was bound to cause issues, but he’d been wrong, so far there had been no problems, the people who could cook took it in turns to cook the evening meals, and if they needed help, others would step up, but there was never any arguments or shouting. Everyone offered to help Violet and Nyx with their son if he was crying, or they offered to babysit him, like Iris was doing now, just to give them an hour or 2 to themselves. The house work was everyone’s responsibility, you cleaned up after yourself, it was only fair, and everyone was responsible for their own belongings.

Luche sat down next to Iris and reached over to her nephew, who was laughing and clapping every time she bounced her knee, Luche tickled him under his chin and he squealed happily before he took hold of Luche’s finger and looked at him, he had the same rich amber eyes as his mother and aunt but he had his fathers hair colour; an unkempt tuft of slate grey hair covered the top of his head.

“You always grab my finger when I do that” Luche spoke to the baby boy, who cooed in response

“He likes you Luche” Iris said “isn’t that right!” She said and she gave her nephew a tickle, now that his attention was back on her she began pulling faces, making him laugh even more than before.

Luche leant back on the sofa and looked at the group, Titus, Lib and Crowe were working together in the kitchen and Cor and Pelna were joining them on the sofas now that their discussion was done, they had become a family over the year they’d been living together and although times were much harder now, Luche wouldn’t change it for anything

How does others ( Libertus, Crowe, Pelna, Luche, etc) take it that Nyx is brother of the King?

Crowe is a very dry "well fuck". She sist him down on her ratty couch with a whole pot of tea and then talks magic at him until his head is clear enough to listen to words again.

Libertus is loud. He cusses out the situation and then storms out to cool off. He's got a temper, but most of the time he recognises when he should leave before he says something turly hurtful that he doesn't mean. Half a day later he's back with enough food to feed a large family.

Pelna sits down and does research. About illegitimate children in the royal family. Their inheritence rights. Legal obligations. He compiles it all in case Nyx will need it. Which he probably will at some point, since it doesn't look like Regis and Noctis want to leave Nyx alone.

Luche gets really quiet. He doesn't really say anything at first. Instead he plans. He researches as well. But his goal is to make plans that can further Galahd within the current situation. If it'll mean helping Nyx, he'll help Nyx. If it'll mean pushing Nyx into something he doesn't want to do, Luche will do that.

Tredd will blow up and then make digs as Nyx until they fight. It's Tredd's way to make sure Nyx is still "Galahkar enough".

Sonitus simply watches. He always waits to form an opinion until a situation has settled and he can see how the pieces have fallen.

Axis talks with his Clan Head, and after getting the go-ahead, helps Nyx learn the minutiae of Galahkari law, as well as get a better understanding of Lucian law. Nyx will be going to need both to navigate this situation.

Kingsglaive Monthly Events!

Glaives Assemble!

The moderators of the For Hearth and Home Discord server are happy to announce the Kingsglaive Monthly Events! The bulk of the information can be found in the document linked, but we will outline some key points below!

What is it?

The Kingsglaive Monthly Events are a 9 month long event beginning on January 9th, with each month focusing on a different named Glaive from the movie.

The monthly schedule is:

Axis Arra - January

Sonitus Bellum - February

Tredd Furia - March

Luche Lazarus - April

Pelna Khara - May

Crowe Altius - June

Libertus Ostium - July

Titus Drautos - August

Nyx Ulric - September

Breakdown for each month:

1st week - Posting canon information about the character w/related preliminary discussions. Prompts for fanart/fanfics will be posted and shared.

2nd week - Fandom headcanon discussions.

3rd & 4th weeks - Fanart & fanfic sharing from prompts.

Do we have to join the Discord server to participate?

No! We highly encourage it as there's a lot of wonderful people in there, but it's not a requirement to partake in discussions posted on here or Twitter or to create content.

“What do you mean ‘explode’?!” Libertus yelled over the comm.

“That’s what ‘engine overload’ means!” Tredd yelled back. “Explode!”

“This hunk of metal is too big to just fall from the sky,” Pelna said. “There has to be life pods -- shuttles -- drop ships -- something! Just give me a second…”

“60 seconds! Get away from the back of the--” Tredd’s line shrieked and died. Not a second later an explosion shook the ship -- not the big one, not yet, but it had to be starting.

“Fuck fuck fuck…okay, emergency pods! Third and sixth levels, either side!” Pelna instructed.

“Probably not happening, got a problem,” Nyx said, his comm half static.

“What kind of ‘problem’?!” Crowe demanded.

“I’ll catch up, don’t worry,” Nyx said.

He clicked off the comm. Before him, in the center a hold full of empty daemon cages, stood the armored figure of Glauca.

Day 25: “Shouldn’t You Be Happy?" (Ao3)

Hey, this gala is boring. Wanna play Knight’s Tale?

Prompto stared at the bright phone from under the blankets of his bed.

Not right now, sorry. Not really in the mood.

He had told them he was tired, that he should just head to bed. Him leaving hadn’t solved the problem though.

It’s Solstice, shouldn’t you be happy?

A cabinet door slammed shut downstairs. Voices raised again, bickering back and forth.

Of course I’m happy. Got lots of cool stuff.

Prompto made himself smile, trying to convince himself. There was a loud crash downstairs then someone opened the outside door. The car started up a minute later.

“Who wouldn’t be?” He turned the phone off and tried to actually sleep.

Day 26: Free Falling (Ao3)

Continued from Day 24.

------- Someone, Nyx thought, was whistling. Not the pleasant tune kind, but the long, annoying shriek kind.

Couldn’t people just let a guy sleep?

Ugh, and it was cold too. He reached for blankets and found none. His hand only found air. Air that felt like it was moving.

Nyx opened his eyes and stared up at a blue sky, at the very center of which was a large, cylindrical piece of metal that was being torn apart by blooms of fire.

Pieces of that metal were falling. Toward him.

He grabbed at his kukri and threw it instinctively to the side before a chunk twice his height barreled through where he had just been. The lack of impact, of either him or the debris confused him, until he looked toward where the debris was headed.

The ground. So small, yet growing oh so very quickly.

Oh…oh fuck…

Would warping even save him here? Sure they warped off buildings but usually that was measured in stories, not thousands of feet!

You can do this, Nyx told himself firmly. You’ll just need to time it right. The anchor has to stop before you warp…

2022 Glaiveweek Day 5: Intelligence- Pressure Points

Hi! This is waaaaay late, but I do intend to finish these. Life got a lil in the way! Here is day 5!

Characters: Tredd, Pelna, Sonitus, background drautos

Rating: Fluff

Summary: One should never make it a goal to be hugged by a cactaur. But should that goal be achieved, a good medic is highly recommended.

Pelna snickered and tried his best to hurry without breaking into a run. Was he a bad person for enjoying someone else's pain? Maybe. But it was so very deserved.

Sunlight drenched the dusty plains of Leide. They had been sent on intel of empire scouts in the area. The rumor of magitek advancing was false, but the people needed their help culling the usual beasties, and the things the regular hunters wouldn't dare chase.

Drautos was quick to dispatch his glaives, saying they needed a work out. After dispatching their first targets, a few glaives got cocky. After all, what creatures could stand the wrath of the kingsglaive?

Pelna had to choke back his giggles. Wrath of the kingsglaive! The so-called wrath of the glaives squealed like a baby anak when a cactaur snuck up behind him and gave him a great big hug.

Tredd was an ass, but a proud ass. He couldn't use a potion without getting out the needles first, and couldn't get them out himself. That meant he had to get help without the captain finding out…or the rest of the glaive. Not many places to hide on the plains.

He hurried forward. Sonitus offered to teach him a new type of healing spell if he was able to hurry and get supplies and run back. While keeping his mouth shut.

Pelna tried. He really, really did. He didn't say a cursed thing, but could not keep the grin off his face. Nyx, Lib, and Crowe looked at him like he was crazy. Scampering about in the heat in full armor while having the gall to look gleeful about it.

He slipped into the med tent to see Sonitus carefully peeling Tredd's armor off. Pelna didn't know whether to laugh or wince up close. Long iridescent needles had gone through Furia's coat and into his skin. It was true that most of the needles were stopped by the armor, but not all. Tredd bit down hard on a rag to keep from making noise. This had to be a stealth operation- the captain was two tents over.

Pelna put the supplies down on the exam table and got to work. Plantain grew wild all over here- the salve made from it would be antimicrobial. It would hold until they reached insomnia, as long as the idiot in question took it easy. Pelna grabbed a mortar and pestle, getting to work while watching the show.

"Really, really stupid. If they work into a pressure point or organ, I have to report this to get you proper medical care." Sonitus growled.

Tredd didn't dare answer until his jacket was off, lest he make too much noise. His coat was almost off. Sonitus winced at the sight of Tredd's skin on the other side. Pelna raised an eyebrow, then winced himself as the jacket came fully off.

It looked like a rash at first glance. Tiny little red marks where needles had made it through the coat, and angry skin where they were then ripped out. Upon closer inspection, long translucent needles still rose from his back in places. Pelna was suddenly glad he didn't have to pull those out.

"Breaktime. Drink some water while we get ready. " Sonitus turned to the first aid gear after carefully hanging up the mutilated jacket.

Pelna turned to Sonitus, offering the lumpy paste up for inspection. Sonitus nodded, gesturing for the redheaded pincushion to resume his position.

"The trick is to ease the skin off the barbs, while not breaking the needle or touching the tips."

Pelna nodded, fascinated. Sonitus pulled up gently, yet firmly on an embedded needle just below Tredd's kidneys. It slid out smoothly, a tiny bead of blood blooming from the open hole.

"The spell is for small wounds only. And clean, fresh ones at that."

Pelna nodded excitedly. Finally! Sonitus grew a flame in his hand. It danced low on his palm, soft and buttery. It shunk lower and lower, until no flame was left, but a teensy glow remained on the upturned palm. Pelna watched hard- the control to do this had to be exquisite.

Sonitus gently pressed his palm to the angry spot, and wiped the bead of blood away with gauze. No hole remained on the skin.

Pelna gaped. No way. Fire couldn't heal. Sonitus dabbed a bit of the plantain salve on the spot, rubbing it in gently.

"The trick is just enough magic. Flame is too much. Letting it splutter out is too little. The spark of magic is just right."

"What if you hit organs? His kidneys and spine are right there-"

"Then proper medical attention is needed. This is the barest of patches while we hold this idiot" -a rumble of irritation from the injured party- "together until we return to Insomnia. This is only for papercuts or needle wounds. It will not hold anything bigger."

"What if you add more force-"

"Then it's just straight cauterization."

Pelna harrumphed, but dutifully collected the needles in a bowl while Sonitus worked them out and sealed the wounds.

"What if they are in a pressure point?"

Sonitus paused after removing another needle. The man deliberated, eyes roving critically, before locking onto a glimmering shaft lodged just above Tredd's scapula.

"A pressure point has the capacity to heal and harm. It depends on how you use the point." Sonitus plucked the needle smoothly, dropping it into the bowl with a soft clink.

"These are needles, and ones not dug harshly in. His jacket saved him there. To prevent point blockage, and therefore energy blockage, we need to gently massage the point and its meridian after sealing the wound."

Pelna nodded, twitching. He should be taking notes.

"The shoulder point here lies on the triple warmer meridian- it regulates temperature. If harmed or blocked, Tredd's temperature will rise. If stimulated, he will be more adaptive to his surroundings." Sonitus softly traced low on Tredd's lumbar, along his spine, up and over the scapula, down his shoulder to the arm, and lower until the ring finger. The redhead in question shivered minutely, relaxing further into the exam table.

"May I take notes?"

"Sure. Just be sure to ask before actually practicing yourself. Acupuncture with someone untrained is just playing darts with a consenting victim."

Pelna nodded enthusiastically, jotting as fast as he could. Heart, liver, kidneys, governing, intestines, triple warmer…Sonitus rubbed his palms over Tredd's back, massaging the energy pathways. Save the governing channel- (the spine and skull) the meridians move up the torso, across the shoulders and down the arms to the fingertips, bilaterally. One meridian for each side.

Pelna sketched rough outlines of the meridians and what points Tredd had managed to land needles in. The Furia was lucky- no major points or organs were hit, and Sonitus was able to patch him up with relative ease. The full meridian massage was more for Pelna’s benefit, but as they concluded, Sonitus noted that their patient had nearly dozed off under the weight of the extended massage.

Pelna glanced up from his notes to see the elder glaive smirk and make a silent shushing motion, pantomiming, rubbing his own eyelids and temples, before turning to their patient. The Khara’s eyes widened- Sonitus reached forward, as if to cup Tredd’s face, and repeated the exact motion. The Furia gave a soft whine, going completely boneless in his grasp. Sontus kept it up for a minute, then carefully relaxed his hold and brushed his finger over his patient’s throat. Slow pulse, steady, low breathing. Asleep.

“We may speak at a low volume. He’s out.”

“What in the fires was that? He just passed out-”

“Acupressure and massage are powerful things, youngling. Remember that.” Sonitus chuckled, mussing up Pelna’s dark hair. The young glaive chuckled and set the bowl of needles down.

“Try getting the needles out of his armor while I clean up. It takes a certain pressure to remove them in one piece without stabbing yourself. I’m going to check to see if the coast is still clear.”

Pelna nodded enthusiastically, settling with the pincushioned jacket, practicing.

“We should go soon, before anyone notices we have been gone.” Pelna glanced up to Sonitus entering the tent. Nodding, the young glaive stood, stretching. He had gotten most of the needles, Tredd could do the rest. Pelna gently shook Tredd’s shoulder.

The glaive murmured sleepily and buried his face into his crossed forearms. Pelna smirked, shaking a little harder. The glaive rumbled unhappily. He finally awoke when Sonitus began feeling over his back, searching for any last stragglers.

“Whasit?...” Came the garbled question.

“Looking for stragglers.” Sonitus replied, feeling over his shoulders, drifting down to his sides.

Tredd twitched. Sonitus raised an eyebrow, beginning to feel the area with more intent.

"More needles in there? We need to get them out."

"No! Nothing there. You just…surprised me is all."

Sonitus scoffed, not believing him for a minute. Pelna watched with a growing smile as Sonitus searched an increasingly twitchy Furia.

"Will you stop moving? You made it this far, why are you having issues now?"

"M'not!"

Sonitus growled in frustration and kneaded into the Furia's sides, searching for the wayward needle. Said Furia made a strangled squeak as his arms crashed down tight against his sides, trapping Sonitus's hands there.

"No! I'm fine!"

"If you don't lift your arms up right now i'm going to cuff you to the fires-damned table-"

"I know what's happening." Pelna cut in, grinning.

"Nothing is happen-" Tredd choked as Pelna began worming his fingers under Tredd's arms to his sides. The glaive squirmed, desperately fighting the grin overcoming his snarl.

"There's a sensitive spot in here, isn't there? We would be bad friends if we didn't find it. Right, Tredd?" Pelna snickered.

The glaive in question vibrated with silent laughter, struggling to remain still and quiet. Pelna smirked and kneaded harder, forcing a strangled giggle out of the glaive. Sonitus blinked in surprise- then gave an evil chuckle and started tickling in earnest.

"Guys! Lehehet goho-!"

"Not until we are certain no needles remain."

"There's noho mohore!"

"Shh! Don't want the captain to come in here, now do we?"

Tredd tried to stay quiet, he really, really did. But karma and his comrades were not on his side that day.

Sonitus found a spot just below his floating ribs that had him cackling into the exam table. Sweet, sweet vengeance. Pinning their target to the table, Pelna and Sonitus tickled at the spot viciously, years of assholery finally being paid for.

Amidst the kerfuffle Sonitus found a spot that had the redhead jackknifing up off the table- overbalancing the exam table in the process, landing in a giggling heap at their feet.

A frustrated growl emanated from two tents over. The three glaives were out of the medical tent in a flash, hiding behind the sleeping caravan.

"Nothing happened, agreed?"

"Sure thing, giggles."

Kingsglaive Uniforms

As we approach Lore (less than a month away!), we thought we’d do some deep dives into topics involved with the Kingsglaive as a whole: uniforms, the HQ, etc. Hopefully it will be helpful with your writing!

While most of this information can be found in our Personnel Files for the canon named glaives, we thought it might be helpful to gather it up into one location.

Apologies for the lack of pictures. There's a lot to cover here. If you ever want to fact check us, feel free to ask for the proof of any claims we have here!

Common Features:

All the Kingsglaive uniforms seem to retain their basic form from when they were Royal Guards, what we call the “standard uniform”. The glaives in the movie seem to wear it as their default uniform when not in battle - during the briefing scene with Drautos and around the base. When Gladio, Ignis, Prompto, and Cor appear in Insomnia, this is the version they wear as well.

The jacket is longsleeved, with false short sleeves trimmed with a silver braid-like cuff over them, attached via some sort of yoke that goes underneath the shoulder loops and has cutouts at the ball of the shoulder to reveal the small kingsglaive badges there.. The yoke and short sleeves appear to be made out of a different material - a rougher leather in the game, and some sort of sparkly unknown in the movie. The large cuffs of the longer leather sleeves are ornately decorated in silver, with the rounded portion on the upper side and the more squared off bottom portion are both ornately embroidered, while the sides (where the thumb is) has a simple pattern of three angled lines. The collar stands straight up, but somewhat limply, as it is rather thin, and there are three silver blade-like decorations on either side of the throat, echoing those on the sides of the wrist cuffs.

The jacket fastens invisibly up the front, probably via hooks or loops on the back side, and has false buttons decorated with skulls on false lapels, connected by braids in horizontal lines that “connect” the pairs of buttons on each side. The center edges of the jacket curve away slightly starting at the waist, and the lower corners are rounded as the skirt portion ends just above the knee.

There are two pocket flaps on the jacket, one on each hip, but from the line of the uniform they may be false pockets. The glaives in the movie appear to have a more breathable mesh rather than straight leather on the side panels from waist to armpit, but that detail seems to be lacking in the game’s uniforms.

The back of the uniform has a worked symmetrical pattern around a sword, with fourteen notches surrounding it. It leads down to the small of the back, where it is crossed by a t-shaped buttoned piece and transitions into material that better matches the jacket in a sort of tail.

The glaives wear some combination of shirts underneath in various styles, though the uniforms in the game appear to all follow Nyx’s undershirt design of a silver vest that zips up the front over a black tee shirt with a sword-like design and a set of overlapping diagonal belts under the jacket as well.

The glaives wear black leather pants with decoration/reinforcement around the thighs and a decorative reinforced knee under their knee-high boots. The pants end just below the knee, at least on Nyx.

The boots have a reinforced tongue that serves as a kneepad (marked with an odd silver rectangle - a brand name?), and lace up the entire length of the shin. There does not appear to be a zipper on the standard boots (Nyx might have one on the inside) unless it is in the back where I haven’t been able to see, so these poor souls have to tighten these tall laces every time they get in or out. As if that weren’t enough, they have no less than four straps across the laces - two up top presumably to keep it tight to the calf, and two made out of metal at the ankle and toebox. Though the toes are not externally reinforced like the heels are, they are smooth enough they might be steel-toed. The soles are rubber with deep treads in a pattern of fifteen swords.

The glaives in the movie appear not to have their hoods or veils as part of their standard uniform, nor do the bros in the game, but they were part of the royal guard uniform. The hoods appear to have a snaking decorative seam that meanders down the center, perhaps to keep it in place, that splits at the back of the head, with branches that come down by their ears on either side. Sometimes they wear chinstraps, usually when using the veils, it seems. The veils themselves seem relatively unchanged from the Royal Guard days, and taper slightly toward the bottom rather than being strictly triangular or rectangular.

The distinctive silver masks of the glaive seem to have been worn by the captains of the Royal Guard, but not the rank and file.

The members of the glaive in the movie also wear a prominent badge featuring Bahamut and the Kingsglaive logo.

Next we will look at the battle uniforms, which fall into a few general types:

Uniform Type #1: Breastplate: ft. Libertus, Pelna

This uniform is distinguished by the heavily sculpted breastplate worn on their front. It’s uncertain what the material is, but the straps holding it appear to be leather. The design of the breastplate itself seems to be abstracted but symmetrical, with a long blade down the center and wing-like designs along the top, so it could be a stylized Bahamut, surrounded by ribbons or flames. The leather straps pass under the arms and meet in a ring at the center back, which also connects to the quilted yoke-like piece across the shoulders. The shoulder straps for the breastplate attach to studded metallic strips that in turn attach directly to the yoke by the shoulderblades. While the main body of the yoke is quilted, it has harder leather around the edges, and segmented plates of the same material cover both shoulders symetrically.

The hoods attach under a ring of padding that encircles the neck with another leather strap at the front to let it open and close. This could function to keep the yoke from riding up or as further protection.

There are cuff-like pieces of stitched leather that reinforce each elbow and thigh/upper knee, each held up by yet another leather strap. The Kingsglaive badges are worn on each side on the upper arm, possibly connecting the shoulder guards to the elbow pads.

Variations:

-Libertus wields a huge, axe-like blade that he wears on his back, so he has a modified harness to carry it

-he also has unique gloves with diamond-shaped plates, and claws or spikes on strips of leather hanging from the back of each shoulder piece

-Libertus’s uniform has brown leather straps

-Libertus also has the silver horizontal braids on the false lapels at the front of his uniform, as only Nyx and Luche also have

-Pelna, like a few other glaives we see, has green leather straps

-Pelna, like the other glaives in this uniform, also has a leather sword belt that attaches to the breastplate in front and the y-shaped leather straps in back

-Both seem to have the blade-like design down the front of their undershirts, but Libertus’s is short-sleeves with reinforced shoulders in greys and Pelna’s is a baseball cut with fancy cuffs in greens

Uniform Type #2: Square Spalders: ft. Axis, Tredd

The distinguishing feature of this uniform type is the square, chained shoulder guard worn left shoulder. The badge seems to be worn on the same shoulder, and there is an almost archery-like padding underneath the shoulder guard, crossed by a ridged strap coming from his left shoulder which appears sewn into the padding. That could be how the shoulder guard itself attaches, but it’s clearly integral as it appears Axis’s hood attaches to the padded section and ridged strap directly.

They also wear the squared off double belt over the jacket, from which a scabbard can hang via chains.

Variations:

- Axis wears full gloves

- Tredd has a long oversleeve on the right with a small cutout at the shoulder and an odd leather version of the shoulder loops over it. He also has one of the segmented elbow braces on his right arm, and wears red gloves

- Both appear to wear the frog-closed black and silver shirts Luche does at Yamachang’s under their jackets

Uniform Type #3: Flame Spaulders: ft. Sonitus, Luche

This uniform type is characterized by its own distinct spaulder: a curved piece with a flame-like pattern held in place by a wide, cross-body leather strap. Underneath it is a zippered dickie patterned with garlands, anchored by braided straps that go under each arm, and a very high folded-over collar to which the hoods are attached, possibly via the rivet-like silver pieces by the neck on either side. The Kingsglaive badge is worn on the right side. There is an articulated armor or brace worn on each elbow.

Underneath, both seem to wear the frog-closed two-tone shirt Luche wears at Yamachang’s.

Variations:

-Sonitus and a few soldiers like him wear the same square belts as in the previous type

-Luche and a few soldiers like him instead has a secondary strap that attaches to the wide one keeping the spaulders on

-Luche and those based on him also wear knives around their right thighs

-Luche and those based on him have a long tassel that hangs from their shoulders

-Luche also has the silver horizontal braids on the false lapels at the front of his uniform, as only Nyx and Libertus also have

Uniform Type #4: ft. Nyx.

Nyx is the main character, and thus has a very unique uniform. There literally is no one else in his category. Aside from the obvious bits of fur, dangling claws, ribbons, oversleeve, leather capelet, and decorated silver mask, he appears to get a zipper down the inside of his boots so he can get into them easier, has a silver cuff around his right thigh that anchors his second kukri’s holster. His uniform also seems to be a leather-embellished combination of the type 1 and 3 designs: a folded-collar dickie strapped under the arm but made of a crocodile-like leather rather than the garland-pattern fabric and with two straps under the arm on each side, a symmetrical yoke reinforcing his shoulders with silver spikes on top, but smaller and without the shoulder protection of the type one yoke, replacing it with a rough leather shoulder-length cape on the right side and a furred sleeve on the left that is tucked under the short-sleeve yoke of the standard jacket, slipping out once the short sleeve ends and transitioning into a wooly rectangle. Although the purple ribbons that stream from his right shoulder themselves are unique, he wears them in a similar place to where Luche wears his tassels.

In and out of uniform Nyx wears a double chain that arcs from his shoulder to one of the buttons on his front, another feature unique to Nyx and one of the few “customizations” allowed on the standard uniform. He also has the silver horizontal braids on the false lapels at the front of his uniform, as only Luche and Libertus also have

Uniform Type #5: Mages: ft Crowe

Though this unit doesn’t have an official designation, it seems convenient to call them “mages”. Notably, every one of these figures seem to be female, so we don't know if male mages would also wear this. There do appear to be female members of the royal guard and of the Kingsglaive in Insomnia at the end of the game who wear the standard uniform, so it doesn't seem to be a requirement that women wear the uniform we see the mages in. Though Drautos could have done things differently.

This uniform is different from the skin up: rather than the standard uniform, it starts with a sleeveless skintight leather bodysuit that zips down the front, which with the jacket over the top probably makes restroom breaks rather difficult. The boots go up over the knee and have more straps to keep it on the thigh, and each mage has a pointed cuff around their left leg just above the top of the boot. The jacket is also different, made out of a shinier material, stopping around the ribs, and possibly unable to close. It also has a scalloped standing collar that fans around the back of the neck, netting on the left shoulder cutout, a gemstone and chain necklace/fastener, and a red cape, though it shares the modeling of the lapels, cuffs, silver accents, buttons, and hood as well as the cloth veils (though Crowe’s is never seen) with the standard uniforms.

They wear diagonally-fastened belts much like Nyx’s as well, that support daggers at the small of their back. There are two long petal-like oversleeves, rather similar but not an exact match to Tredd’s or Nyx’s, though they are stiff enough to move with the arms even when they are raised and aren’t blown back by the storm.

The capes are fastened asymmetrically and patterned with an eight-sided geometric tiling pattern, according to the models, and along with the red gloves represent the boldest and largest splash of color in any of the uniforms. The gloves appear to be elbow-length as well, implying a lot of padding on the arms.

Variation:

-Crowe’s gem may be unique, as it’s not visible on the other mages because of their veils or angle in the briefing room

-Crowe is never seen with a veil

The Oathbreakers’ Trial

This is based on an au I introduced in 2020 for the NyxNoct week (Chapter 7 of the Heroic Start by Shiary on AO3).

Rating: Teen +

Warnings: Slightly graphic violence near the end. Implied character deaths.

Chapter summary: The Lucian intruders are brought before Ramuh and the Storm for Trial. There is no doubt on their culpability, only the question of punishment for this new Oathbreaking.

Nyx strode into Ramuh's Temple with his Hunters at his back. The place was filled with his people, all waiting and watching the group of prisoners held at the center of the hall. He ignored the whispers that followed him as he headed to stand beside his parents and Selena. His Hunters spread on either side of the hall, watchful even as the Storm kept watch above them.

Nyx looked around the hall, tilting his head in acknowledgement of the Elders that stood by their Clan Pillar. The intruders had been stripped of all weapons, their injuries seen to, and all that was missing were the two who had escaped. Nyx held back the growl that wanted to escape. He wanted to go back into the jungle and track the princeling and that blond friend of his.

There was nothing to do about it. The Storm would not allow Ramuh's royal sacrifice to leave Galahd, and considering how loyal the blond had been during their first meeting, Nyx doubted he would leave the prince.

As lightning struck the pillars behind Ramuh's statue, Queen Mirius Ulric, Voice of Ramuh, rose to her feet. Her eyes blazed with pure lightning and her voice held the rumbling of thunder. Through her, Ramuh spoke. "By the Storm and the Islands, let this trial begin! Those held in front of you have attacked you, and once more broken their Oath. I ask the Oathbreakers, do you have anything to say for yourselves?"

Nyx wasn't surprised as Marshall Leonis stepped forward. While his expression was steady, even almost bored, his eyes sparked with an anger visible to everyone in the hall. "We took no oath when you came to our home and demanded that we give up one of our own. We came only to recover what is ours."

"No Oath? Your King swore one in the name of all Lucis! Or do you claim to have forsworn your King and Lucis while wearing their colours?" King Gaius motioned towards the black crownguard uniform they were still wearing. "Which is it, Cor Leonis? Have you foresworn King Regis and Lucis, or have you broken another Oath before Ramuh?"

The man kept silent, though Nyx noticed his jaw clenching at the accusation. The silence drew on as Galahd and the Storm waited for an answer.

After it continued for minutes on end, Nyx stepped forward. "His silence speaks for itself as does the evidence we collected in the Hunters training caverns of Goary." When Leonis snapped his gaze towards Nyx, he smirked in satisfaction. With a nod towards Pelna, Nyx presented Ramuh's Voice with what they had found.

"Goary Training Cavern has multiple recording devices, visual and auditory, scattered throughout its grounds. We know this but these intruders did not. Hunter Pelna of Clan Khara, Hunter Sonitus of Clan Bellum; present the recordings to the Storm."

Pelna played the audio files first before Sonitus took over and showed the assembly what the cameras had caught. Discussion after discussion between the intruders and Lucis. Of planning how to find and 'rescue' Prince Noctis. Of the failed infiltration to find the prince's whereabouts.

The intruders had been there for days, ever since Pelna and Luche had found the empty boat almost 2 weeks ago, so only the discussions that provide clear evidence that Lucis broke the Oath were heard. And with each discussion, the intruders grew tenser as they realized they'd been overheard so often.

Nyx kept an eye on the Prince's retinue throughout. They were younger, more likely to react to revealing information. So far they were doing admirably well, keeping a blank expression though they kept glancing over at... Selena?

Nyx glanced at his sister. She met his gaze firmly, jerking her head towards their mother with a half-quirked smile. Oh? So whatever was going on had his mom's approval. Had Ramuh decided to test the Princeling?

Part of Nyx hoped so, something in his chest loosening at the possibility that his the princeling had not broken his Oath after all. Selena would have been able to find the intruders and bring the prince there quicker than Nyx and his Hunters. If Ramuh had allowed it then...

It didn't change the current Trial so Nyx nodded towards his sister before returning his attention to where it was needed. Once the last of the recordings were played, it was time for the Elders to make their Clan's opinion known to Ramuh. As Prince, Nyx's duty was to draw a random Clan name and invite them to state their Clan's thoughts on the Trial's outcome.

"Elder Khara, what does Clan Khara say?"

"Lucis has broken a second Oath so soon after breaking their previous one. They have shown complete disregard for our lives and culture. Clan Khara asks Ramuh to give us his blessing to declare war against them."

"Elder Bellum?"

"Clan Bellum agrees with Clan Khara. Lucis must pay for their slight against Galahd and Ramuh."

"Elder Lazarus?"

"Clan Lazarus is of the same mind. Furthermore, we have yet to receive the land promised to Galahd for their Oathbreaking. Clan Lazarus suggest that our first strike is to claim what is owed."

One by one, Nyx called upon the Elders and listened to the Clans thoughts. Once they had all said their piece, Nyx turned to his father and asked, "And what does the Crown have to say?"

King Gaius stepped forward, eyes sweeping through the hall, "The Crown has heard the Clans. There is no objection to the suggested course of action." The crowd started whispering to each other only to fall silent when Ramuh's Voice slammed their staff down on the floor. King Gaius turned to them and asked in a firm tone, "Galahd has found those on Trial to be guilty and Oathbreakers. The Crown offers War against Lucis as punishment for their transgression and that of their Ruler. What is the Storm's Judgment? What is Ramuh's Wisdom?"

Nyx watched as his mother's eyes grew brighter, lightning snaking up and down the staff she held with increasing strength, as she listened to Ramuh and the Storm. After a few minutes, a single bolt of lightning struck right in front of Cor Leonis, who didn't flinch at all. Nyx was slightly impressed, the man would make a good Galahdian.

"The Clans of Galahd call for War. And War shall be the path of the future. Let those who forget the weight of their Oath be reminded of it through blood and magic." Ramuh's Voice intoned. Their voice filled the hall with static and energy, filling the Galahdians with a thirst for blood, as they slammed the staff thrice against the volcanic stone floor. With each strike, the lightning snakes dispersed into the ground, leaving behind brilliant white streaks towards each Clan.

Just as the last strike faded into silence, a commotion broke out towards the Temple entrance. "Niflheim is attacking! Let me pass! Niflheim is on its way to attack you!"

A young blond boy pushed his way past the crowd to stumble into the center of the hall. Nyx took a step forward as he recognized him. Their eyes met and Nyx saw the same fierce determination and loyalty he had seen in Insomnia. The blond set his shoulders back as he declared, "My name is Prompto and Prince Noctis has sent me to warn you of the Niflheim army approaching off your North coast."

Nyx didn't hesitate to give his orders even as he turned to his father. Instead, his mother's bright green eyes met his as she smiled and whispered. "Go to him and see who he truly is."

Nyx turned and ran.
