A terran born Word Bearers Librarian (now Chaplain, of course), protected (and hidden. And given a forged colchisian identity) by Erebus himself from the culling, because psykers are rare and psykers with debts to him are even better.

do you pencil traditionally and then colour digitally, or do you just have a very convincing digital pencil brush? I really love the organic, sketchy feel of your work.

I always sketch and ink on paper first, then scan the piece and color it digitally.

Why is the Child named Lord Lady Mon? Come. Sit down and listen to my little story. It was a dark and rainy night in Dezember. Actually, it was not technically night yet, but it was dark and damp and unpleasant. A few hours prior I was searching the internet for cats to adopt since the local shelter did not have a suitable candidate at the time (I visited three times and even met some old purring ladies and gentlemen but the spark just didnt show). I then found a woman online who worked for a local cat rescue team. She had offered two cats on that page and one of them was old so I called her and asked if that one was still available or visitable. Well, it wasnt. But then she said: “Oh, but I have another emergency case here. If you’d like to take a look you can come to my home later this day”. She was in the car at the time. I thought it was another old cat and decided to let’s go and see. As I already said it was dark and rainy and I was not in the most pleasant mood so I listened to something fun on my 2 hour drive through Berlin. It was a pen&paper podcast called “Morriton Manor”. The story is set in rainy, dark victorian England and the four players had to solve the mystery around Morriton Manor just outside of London. There is Lord Henry, Dr. Francois Guillaume de Tesseraque, the butler Winston and...................

All in all, I was very entertained. So much that even today I listen to the story and the 2 other later adventures quite regularly. I arrived at the woman’s house and was quite surprised to find a little box with a small cat inside. Definitely not what I expected. And nearly blind on top of that. My brain was confused. I did not plan to adopt a small creature and yet I somehow ended up with a surprisingly calm child in a box in the train back home. At that point I had the name “Bambina” planned for the Child. But as always with friends and family the name was only a substitute and once the actual personality shows other names appear out of nowhere and fit much better. Which is why there are two names now. The Child, because it was a child back then. But even now it has child-like features. The head looks very cute and fine and childlike so that name is more of a description really. And then....... the craziness, the weirdness, the incredible intelligence I have never before seen in a cat... It reminded me of Graf Mon. The child also makes me smile and laugh a lot, just like Graf Mon. So I started to call it Mon. But then we started to talk. Mon and I had conversations about different things like getting out of the bathroom, getting out of the kitchen,... basically me trying to convince the child that it would be better to do a certain thing. Much like the butler Winston tries to convince Graf Mon to do stuff with varying success. Naturally I added the Lord in front, but... well. It’s a girl-cat, isn’t it? ... No. It is “THE” Child. It is more. It is the void. It does not care about gender. However it is pleased by a royal title. Adding drama to us talking. So it became Lord Lady Mon.

I sincerely hope every artist gets to have the experience of falling in love with their art someday. even if you have to fight for it. i think we all deserve to look at the result of our creativity all giddy and go holy shit, I loved making this! I love the lines I put down and the colors I used and the indulgences I’ve taken. I love seeing things I liked and taking it for my own, pushing and molding and playing. I can’t wait to do it again
