Monastery Meteora of the Holy Trinity is an Eastern Orthodox monastery in central Greece, situated in the Peneas Valley northeast of the town of Kalambaka. It is situated at the top of a rocky precipice over 1312ft high and forms part of 24 monasteries which were originally built at Meteora, one of the oldest still existing of the Meteora monasteries. Six of the 24 monasteries are still active and open to visitors. The church was constructed between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries and is a world heritage site.

The journey to Meteora’s Holy Trinity Monastery was quite the perilous trip, especially considering the buildings are located upon a gigantic megalith. 

Upon reaching the site, I was in awe at the sight before me. It looked to be an expansive structure made of stone with orange roof tiles adorning the entire place. I trailed my hand over cobblestone walls that bordered the stone-tiled pathways leading to the doors of the monastery. There was a lot of natural scenery surrounding the area, such as large trees and bushes. 

Before I could get too dizzy from being at such an elevation, I quickly entered through the doors. I was not prepared for the sight I’d be laying my eyes on as I strolled into a room that was adorned with an almost overwhelming surplus of religious iconography plastered upon the walls and ceiling. The eyes of saints had me surrounded as I walked deeper into the room where I’d come upon a room with a window, allowing me to see out from within the building. The sunlight illuminated the room and I was able to pinpoint the details of each painting, noticing letters transcribed with Greek letters and an art style reminiscent of Greek orthodox icons. A golden chandelier hung from the ceiling and from right underneath, I could truly see how exquisite it looked for a religious monastery. 

Once finished with the room, I journeyed deeper within the structure and came upon many rooms filled with pews, altars, candleholders, and such. No monk had spoken a word to me since I had arrived and I figured I wouldn’t bother asking for directions, instead trying to find my way through the winding halls and endless rooms. 

Finally, I had stumbled upon a door that would lead me back outside, taking a deep breath of fresh air almost immediately. The only thing I could think of as soon as my visit was over was how on earth I was going to get down from here now.

Filmul documentar ”Muzica rănilor de război”, care tratează perioada dinaintea și din timpul Primului Război Mondial și abordează o fațetă mai puțin cunoscută a vieții lui George Enescu, va fi proiectat în cadrul evenimentelor asociate ediției din acest an a Festivalului, în urma unui parteneriat dintre organizatori și Asociaţia pentru Educație și Sănătate Mens Sana, sub egida căreia a fost realizat filmul.

Iubitorii de muzică vor avea ocazia să-l descopere pe omul Enescu, generozitatea și neobosita lui implicare în a vindeca suflete, preocuparea pentru binele celuilalt, prezența sa activă în societate.

”Muzica rănilor de război” îi are ca protagoniști pe Marius Manole și violonistul Sabin Penea și este un film documentar atipic, cu multă muzică. Coloana sonoră a filmului a fost înregistrată pe o vioară care a aparținut lui George Enescu, aranjamentul muzical fiind realizat și interpretat de Sabin Penea, unul dintre puținii români care au dreptul să cânte la vioara lui George Enescu.

”George Enescu a fost o personalitate de calibru european cu un talent și o dăruire excepțională. Filmul aduce în prim plan încă una dintre fațetele multiple ale artistului și omului Enescu. Sperăm să reușim, în timp, să coagulăm în jurul Festivalului cât mai multe din expresiile personalității copleșitoare ale lui Enescu și să putem onora faptul că inspiră în continuare generații de artiști și melomani din întreaga lume”, spune Mihai Constantinescu, directorul Festivalului Internațional ”George Enescu”.

În prima zi a Festivalului, pe 31 august 2019, filmul va putea fi urmărit la Apollo 111, în cadrul unui eveniment after-party, după deschiderea oficială a Festivalului. Apoi, în Piața Festivalului vor fi programate vizionări înaintea transmisiunilor directe de la spectacolele din Festival. De asemenea, filmul va mai putea fi urmărit în spații mai puțin convenționale. Programul final al proiecțiilor va fi afișat în aplicația EnescuExperience și pe site-ul www.festivalenescu.ro.

Proiectul ”Muzica rănilor de război” a fost derulat de Asociaţia pentru Educație și Sănătate Mens Sana, finanţat de Ministerul Culturii şi Identităţii Naţionale, având ca partener oficial Muzeul Național ”George Enescu”.

Pentru documentare și filmare, echipa a parcurs 6.500 km, filmările au avut loc în 7 locații, în România și Moldova. Documentarul cuprinde imagini-document din arhive și mărturii inedite.

Despre Festivalul Internațional ”George Enescu”

Ajuns la cea de-a XXIV-a ediție, Festivalul Internațional ”George Enescu” se va desfășura în perioada 31 august – 22 septembrie 2019. În sălile de concerte din București, vor urca pe scenă peste 2.500 dintre cei mai valoroși muzicieni ai lumii, având 50 de naționalități și vor fi prezentate 84 de concerte și recitaluri. Ediția din acest an a festivalului totalizează 34 de prezențe în premieră în România: 25 de artiști, printre care Marion Cotillard, Kiril Petrenko, Mitsuko Uchida și nouă orchestre de talie mondială.

Ediția 2019 a Festivalului Enescu își așteaptă publicul la Sala Palatului, Ateneul Român, Sala Radio și la Sala Mică a Palatului la concerte și recitaluri grupate în jurul a șase mari secțiuni: ”Mari orchestre ale lumii”, ”Concertele de la miezul nopții”, ”Recitaluri și concerte camerale”, ”Muzica secolului XXI”, ”Mozart Week in Residence” și ”Forumul Internațional al Compozitorilor”. De asemenea, vor avea loc concerte și evenimente în Piața Festivalului, conferințe, lansări de discuri și de carte, spectacole extraordinare.
