your ocs suck that's why you don't get people talking about them not because someone thinks their OC is better
Are you the fucker who voted that my OCs sucked and proved you had ZERO taste in characterizations on the poll?
Tumblr media
I literally don't care if you do or don't like my OCs, because this isn't just about my OCs.
It's about the inadequate feeling that certain OC Creators give others because they feel superior to others and that they are the only ones who can write Canon characters based off of their own OC x Canon ship. It's also about shoving other people's OCs out of the so-called 'safe' spaces for creators in fandoms.
It's also about the fact that because of how popular XYZ's OCs get, suddenly their 'fans' think that everyone in the fandom just has to know and adhere to that fan-canon the creator has made.
If I say "I Headcanon Wolffe as AroAce" that directly goes against a number of people's OWN interpretations of Wolffe and the OC x Wolffe ships they make. If someone says "I ship my OC with Kit Fisto" that goes against my interpretation of Kit Fisto.
Do you know what we don't need to do in these situations? Call someone wrong for not thinking the same way about characters.
Every single person in fandom has their own, further interpretation of Canon and the Content that's canon once the baseline is established— and, news flash, no one's OCs are part of that baseline.

your temple guard au is awesome mainly because we get to see the guards not only being allowed to be badshit feral but also be the complete and utter badasses they should be. i wanna know more
I meant to answer this earlier lmao
Anyways!! thank you!! I'm glad you liked the AU! I've decided to call it the Order of Defense AU now, and it includes a few other non-guard Jedi who have agreed to walk the path of the Necessary Monster with the Guard and Cin, but not the same path of the Guard. Just because I needed a few more hands on deck and a Councilor’s backing.
In my universe. the Jedi Temple Guard are essentially taught stealth-arts in order to blend into the Temple and go unnoticed in order to further obscure the numbers and identities within the Guard.
These arts include being able to almost completely silence their steps and the noises that people make naturally as they walk, or even run, and even conceal their Force signature so that it blends in with the general Temple's feeling.
Because of this, they are the least remembered group in the Order. Yes, Jedi know there is a Temple Guard, but it's not like the Jedi are constantly looking and spotting the Guard. They sorta just... fade until they need to be noticed.
(more under the Cut)
This, along with the fact that by principle, the Jedi Temple Guard are almost a separate entity from the rest of the Order— as by joining the Jedi Temple Guard you surrender your known identity and are no longer known to the Main Order to the point where these Jedi are considered to be dead by the others— allows for the Guard to train in absolute secrecy within the Guard Hall.
This fact is only known by three parties outside of the Guard: the Head of the Guard, the Head of Security (which, at this point in time, are the same as Cin Drallig holds both positions), and the rest of the Order of Defense— the other Jedi who follow the same path of necessary monsters, but do not follow the Guard's path.
(Jedi like Serra Keto and the late Master Tyvokka, along with a number of my own OCs)
In general, the Role of the Jedi Temple Guard is to protect the Jedi Order. The original Oaths stated to do as such no matter the cost, even if it means breaking the oath of identity or death. Over time this has changed to allow leeway during times of war on the Temple— when the Jedi Guard don white and beige, the Ivory Masks laced with Gold are their faces, but when the Guard no longer don their masks and their faces are seen by the Order, it is only because they have entered battle and will not dishonor their enemies by not allowing them to know the face of their death.
The Jedi Temple Guard, in this form of the Necessary Monster, will have more than just their lightsabers to subdue their opponents— they will use their own hands, or various weaponry hidden on their person. The Jedi Temple Guard hidden in the spires and high outcroppings of the Temple will no longer set their blasters to stun and shoot with deadly accuracy, and the Guard's Hound will no longer hold back his teeth nor flame.
While the Jedi do not endeavor to kill, some question on if this Order of Defense is really to code, but in truth what they do could be considered Self Defense, after all— for it is an Order that is a sleeping giant within the Jedi, only waking if the Temple and those within it are attacked.
But they are not limited to just external threats, from the very beginning, they are trained and have created countermeasures in order to take any other Jedi out if they threaten or harm the Jedi Order— including one another.
But that doesn't let stop them from being a close-knit unit, the Jedi Temple Guard are, after all, a family of sorts.

Can I know more about Arvid? I saw him mentioned in @kit-fisto-obsessive ‘s fic and you talk about him some on here but I haven’t seen much of him on your own AO3
GLADLY
I have a couple posts on Arvid here but I don't think I've really put much on AO3 at all of him. I think he only appears in passing mentions such as in dual wield where he's mentioned by Cin.
Anywhooo~
I did an introduction post here with his old design and a new design and some alters here but I can go over it again ehehe
Basically:
Arvid Carin is best mates with Jaro Tapal and the partner of Dex Jettster. He's also an Artisan Jedi Master as the current head of the Woodworking Department of the Division and has trained one padawan, the current Second Hand of the Department— Turu.
He's from another one of my fan-made races, a dragon species that has branching roots in the Fae and Spirits. While there are a few of them across the Galaxy, but he's specifically an Inferno Drakon hailing from the volcanic planet Surlogi.
Like all Inferno Drakon who have chosen to assume a more humanoid appearance and leave Surlogi, Arvid has a number of forms that he can assume.
His true form is a massive, wingless dragon with the full length being about half as long as the temple is wide.
His main form is about 6'9" standing upright without his horns, though he slouches a lot. This is what most people see him as, and while his legs are still humanoid, his feet are definitely still that same clawed dragon look.
His combat form is a bit more draconic, his legs change to be more dragon-like and his hands become more clawed with more scales appearing under and through his skin. he's about 7'10 at that height when fully upright
His "compact" form or resting form is either after a fight or when conditions are met that require him to condense into an almost fully human form just to keep from exploding outwards into his true form. He's about 5'10 - 6' tall in that form but is much hotter to the touch than the other two humanoid forms. Almost scalding.
Save for the last one, Arvid retains his horns and tail in his human forms and has a very high body temperature
Personality wise he's known as a quiet, tired, and reserved individual to pretty much everyone and while true, he is also incredibly kind and compassionate.
His tiredness stems from his inability to find a good way to sleep with horns and a tail along with having just a general insomnia. He spends his waking hours working and often avoids people if possible while he does so he doesn’t lose focus. He enjoys listening to people talk though, so if he’s sought out while working for conversation it’s very one sided but he’s paying attention
While he enjoys children and doesn't mind them clinging to him for warmth, he states he'd be a very bad Master now days, to which Turu assures him that he was a fine Master when They were learning under him. Arvid also states he'd be a bad parent, though it is noted that he makes a decent father figure to Dex's adoptive daughter Onyx.
ofc despite all of this, Arvid is still a dragon and he does have a rather dangerous temper when it gets to that point. Basically:
Arvid Cairn was slow to anger, just like the magma flows his kind were borne from. Slow to anger, yet extremely dangerous when he did.
A forgotten fact to some.
The cracking of bones under his grip was something that wasn’t quite foreign to him— but it had been a long time. Been a long time since he had felt this angry.
I have some other little bits of triva, but these are the big parts.
Theres a lot of describing points that follow fire/volcano analogies lol

121: “Why are you in my bed?”, for Plo and Kit please? 💚
Sure thing <3
121: “Why are you in my bed?”
Characters: Plo Koon, Kit Fisto (Ship)
AO3
Dialogue Prompt List
In the past, Plo Koon’s normal routine upon arriving back on Coruscant would be to deliver the mission report— be it good or bad— then retire elsewhere for a time of meditation or to observe the initiates or padawans, among other things that required little action on his end, or, if it was late enough, retire for the night entirely.
The Force had not been kind to him today, however.
With the war going on, the return of the 104th Battalion and himself to Coruscant meant a number of new things were to be added to his routine. Ordinarily, that wouldn’t have been a problem— going over general supplies that were needed and sending an order report form for that was no trouble, and making sure that the boys were all in working order or getting the assistance they needed wasn’t anything overly time-consuming. Commander Wolffe kept the rest of the boys in line, after all.
(His commander and son had waved him off with a halfhearted grumble last time Plo had asked about how he managed to do so.)
What had been was the Meeting between the Council and the Division Heads— The Jedi Order was not run only by the Council, after all.
It wasn’t a major meeting, or rather, it wasn’t supposed to be— it wasn’t a full Council, and about half the division heads weren’t present. And even if it had been supposed to be a major meeting, little would have gotten done anyway.
Not with Cin Drallig and Vokara Che barely paying attention as they checked their comms and answered messages from the instructors and healers respectively, not with Jocasta Nu, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ki Adi Mundi arguing about the state of the War, and certainly not with the head of the Agricorp and the Grandmaster getting into a rather heated negotiation about supply costs.
No, Plo doubted that much would have gotten done even if all members of the Divisions and Council had been there.
In fact, even less would have and he was certain that if Mace Windu had hair left, it would’ve been ripped out in frustration.
That said, by the time they had been dismissed from the meeting, Plo was almost glad to turn down Master Rancisis’ invite for tea and a game of Dejarik. And at the same time, the other Master seemed almost relieved that he had done so.
His walk to his quarters had been undisturbed after that— to which, he thanked both the Force and the Spirits above for— and by the time he did reach the door, a part of him felt strangely exhausted.
A quick read of his force signature opened the doors— he didn’t bother with the keypad anymore, it had been nearly four hundred years, after all— and he stepped in without a word. A hiss of a sigh escaped him and out through his mask.
The damn thing had been highly uncomfortable all day.
Another sigh left him as he carefully removed his boots and external robe.
Logic dictated that he should eat something, he was nearing the end of the sustainability period after a full meal, after all— but logic hardly mattered to him anymore.
He was exhausted and no amount of food would fix that. And besides, he could eat in the morning. The 104th had time off until the next mission.
And both Sha and his Uncle were in the Temple— he could certainly take time to catch a meal with the both of them. It had been a long time since, after all.
Plo Koon’s musings were cut short, however, upon realizing that there was an extra set of boots by the door. Ones that weren’t his.
It took a moment to run through all possibilities on who the boots could belong to before the familiarity set in.
Ah.
That explained why there was a severe lack of noise in the Council Chambers earlier.
Kit had skipped out on the meeting.
The lack of a full Council could have been explained away with Councilors being busy on the field, though if Kit was here that just meant that he had skipped.
Not that Plo really could blame him.
Like Vokara and Cin, Plo found that only half-full meetings between the Councils and Divisions were rather pointless.
With a shake of his head, the Kel Dor Master extended his senses through the Force, easily locating where his fellow Master and Partner was. He moved through the main sitting area of his quarters silently, making his way to the bedroom.
Sure enough, revered Nautolan Master Kit Fisto was lying sprawled across the bed, scrolling through a thread on his datapad. The blue light of the screen illuminated the room, but otherwise, the light was off.
Plo leaned against the doorframe, smiling slightly. “Pray tell,” he started. “Why are you in my bed?”
The Nautolan’s ahwey perked and he turned his head, looking over at him before a sharp-toothed grin crossed his face.
“Waitin’ for you to get back," was all he said and Plo let out a soft huff of amusement, flicking the light on before crossing over to the closet. Out of the corner of his eye he watched as Kit went back to reading whatever had caught his interest while he changed.
As much as he did find his normal attire comfortable— and it had been altered and designed by him to be as such— it was nice to be out of the robes and into looser clothes.
“How did the meeting go?” Kit asked as Plo walked back over to the bed. A quick flick of the fingers drew his anti-ox collar from the bedside table via the Force.
He hummed a bit. “It was fine, none of us really wanted to be there, except for the Grandmaster it seemed,” he replied as he unclasped the collar. “Your lineage brother and Master Che seemed to be seeing who was getting the most messages the entire time from their respective divisions.”
Kit snorted out a laugh at that.
“Cin never did like meetings like that.,” Kit mused. And that was an understatement
The Nautolan knew as well as Plo did— and most Jedi— that Cin Drallig did not enjoy being pulled away for what he deemed frivolous things.
Meetings that were of no Major importance and only used for updating the other Division Heads and Councilors fell under that category for him— after all, Plo also knew that the Battlemaster knew most of what was already going on in every corner of the Temple by way of the Guard and gossip.
“He seemed rather put out when he first arrived, yes,” Plo mused before he began to process of connecting the ports in his throat to the collar. He closed the clasp after he was done, resting at the base of his neck, before he took a few breaths. The filters were in working order, air was going through the collar and not his mask.
Ordinarily, Plo would simply activate his own atmosphere. But, that had been a time before moments with Kit had become rare and in-between.
Still, the relief when he removed his mask was instant.
Kel Dor were not made for wearing their masks for longer than a few weeks at a time. Not comfortably at least. There was always a pull on the skin, a feeling of it being too tight, too restrictive.
Plo rested his mask on the table before falling back against Kit, who just laughed a bit and waved a hand lazily. The lights shut off again and Plo settled back, resting his head against Kit’s and relaxed.
Sleep found him not too long after.
the word ahwey comes from @shadowmaat

I always thought that a Kel Dor could be easily disorientated by turned upside down onto their head (due to their sensory organs) and the thought of Plo being spun like lightning mc kriffing queen greatly amuses me, do with that what you will
I mean I think anyone would be easily disoriented by being flipped upside down and spun around lol
In general, I think that Plo's probably overcome that, like the whole exposure therapy or whatnot. Plus, Jedi acrobatics n shit

I feel like you know the temple guard the most. I want to make a temple guard oc but shes not an actual jedi or temple guard. Instead she is just some vagabond who decides to chill out and lazy about in the jedi temple. The guards only tolerate her cuz she is not an actual threat to the temple or jedi and even occasionally cooks for the jedi. She owns a sword based on a miaodao that is made of a light sabers proof metal. Would such a character be realistic or would the temple guard not tolerate her?
You want to make a Jedi temple guard OC who… isn’t a guard or a Jedi? I apologize but that seems… counterproductive? Is that the word? Either way, I somewhat understand but also largely don’t so here’s my general answer to you question:
To be perfectly blunt, I don’t think the Temple Guard would even tolerate her. She’d be escorted or kicked out immediately.
So canonically the Temple itself isn’t even open to senators that often if at all, let alone citizens or armed figures (bounty hunters, mercenaries, etc.). The Temple is as much of a HOUSE as it is a religious building, the Jedi aren’t gonna let strangers and armed non-Jedi just waltz in where their sick, injured, elderly, and defenseless also are. So pretty much, the only people really allowed into it were the Jedi— we don’t even see Clones in the Temple
In fact, only place we see anyone who isn’t a Jedi in the Temple is the Hangar where there were workers employed by the Jedi. Something that I’m still not 100% sure is necessary but like Filoni needed a plot point I guess. And even then there was hints a excessive screening and tests and a lot of painstakingly complicated processes.
Do you have any idea what someone has to go through to work in the Jedi Temple, hm? Jackar dedicated his life to serving the Jedi. It had been his dream. Not just anyone can walk into your precious Temple. He passed all the entry tests that were needed. [TCW 05x17]
Anyways, since you said she wasn’t a Jedi, no, the Guard wouldn’t tolerate her at all.
But even if she was a Jedi, she wouldn’t be allowed to join the Temple Guard but not be a Jedi Temple Guard. The general security branch? Maybe. The Temple Guard? Not at all.
The Guard is canonically one of the most closed off sects— to join is to loose identity and enter a higher calling beyond your name rank and title. You serve the Order and Temple, and nothing else.
On top of that, if a random, non Jedi decided to show up and attempt to take their job of Guarding the temple, they would be hella peeved— a job that the Guard have dedicated their lives to and to the point of throwing away their names.
So to be perfectly blunt: No the Jedi Temple Guard would not tolerate her at all.
Is the character realistic? Ehhh that’s for you to decide, it’s fucking Star Wars, nothing matters and everyone is gay. But strictly speaking by canon and legends and source materials? she would not be allowed on the premises without explicit permission from the Jedi Order itself— Let alone armed.

A little idea that's been floating around in my noggin is giving Chiron a space/galaxy theme as a nod to him being the constellation Sagittarius. It'd be a neat idea for his Grand Servant design (because I refuse to believe he isn't or wasn't Grand Archer at some point I mean it makes too much sense!) so please consider Space Centaur
Honestly Chiron with space aesthetic sounds rad as hell, especially knowing and seeing what fate can do with that theme
Mmm yes… SpCentaur is going to live in my brain for 1000 years now… how do you feel about that being incorporated into the summer sprite edit

would love to hear your thoughts on the other tcw or whichever voices 👀
also have to agree that the did cin dirty in the show, i think they used dbb actually ajsbhdbssj
ok ok ok ok
so Cin's actually voiced by Robin Atkin Downes, who actually is pretty close to Nick Gillard's actual voice and accent: See here [Downes in TCW] vs [Gillard in RotS Interview]
Now before, I mentioned like half a year ago that i personally like the voice for the Yellow Kyber in Galaxy's Edge's holocron see [here]— but apparently, this guy has a name and its Kolloma Ree and he's my son now, thanks.
ANYWAYS!!
Keeping with my trend of redesigning Cin Drallig, my first pick for a new voice for him would be Tony Leung because a.) it fits the redesign (because thats him!! or my attempts at baseing it off of him) and b.) well, it fits. The tone and the vibes are just the best.
I think the mid-low register range that Tony Leung has works best, so around that range for any other voice actors but I cant think of any more off the top of my head right now. Perhaps Ryōtarō Okiayu or Ray Chase who both voice Vlad III in Fate/Apocrypha and Grand Order (And Extella for Okiayu? I think)
I have so many words about using fucking James Arnold Taylor for fucking Plo Koon though. Beppi asked me about it before and i just AAAAAAAAA
I hate it. So much. I understand why they did it, but In my opinion, if you're going to have an important reoccouring character like Plo Koon dont use a repeat voice actor with a voice modifier and a slightly lower pitch.
I have a lot of options that I mentioned before but essentially my two top picks are literally any voice that Jouji Nakata has done though im very partial to his (English) Kotomine Kirei and King Hassan voices, and Kunihio Yasui's Li Shuwen Lancer. Crispen Freeman's English Dub of King Hassan and Alucard (who is also played by Nakata lmao) are also very good options. You can find more on my thoughts for Plo Koon [Here]
obviously, Temura Morrison is forever the voice of the Clones, mhm!
I did actually like Phil Lamar as Kit Fisto though! I thought it was very well done, I wouldn't change much there. Loved the accent fhdjhfjd
I do think its bullshit that Tholme's dead in TCW so I hand him Bill Butts' work as Kyosuke Hori
DBB is fine for Saesee Tiin, he did a good job there, but I still really adore TC Carson's work as him from the 03 series more. You really cannot beat the "It's time to get a new one" from that series.
For most of the TCW i actually dont mind, but also since so many of my favorites are not canon / dont speak at all its a bit tough. Like Tholme here are some takes for some of my others:
The Grand Inquisitor (Baby ver): Lucien Dodge as Lord El Melloi II (Obvs, Jason Isaacs did a fantastic job but Dodge sounds a bit younger than Isaacs and we do know that TCW was a good few years before Rebels. I very much do not like the Kenobi version though fhjdhfjd)
Sha Koon (English ver): Genevieve Simmons as Bort (I did her and Bultar Swan's JP Dub voices [here] same with Bene's !!)
Voolvif Monn: Kaji Tang as Kouen Ren
Oppo Rancisis: I think his voice was pretty OK in the 03 series, but I do like Motomu Kiyokawa's Walter C. Dornez from the original Hellsing Ultimate Sub
AND I THINK FILONI SHOULD HAND OVER EMBO TO SOMEONE ELSE THO HFJDHFJDHFD NO MORE FELONY COWBOY IN MY HOUSE
I also have OC voice claims/HCs if you're intersested lmao

hi kiwi, could you maybe do 27. for the hurt/comfort prompts with Eeth and Agen? no romance (THEYRE BROTHERS TO ME), just Agen being there for Eeth, maybe after the whole Grievous incident? i will take any crumbs of the zabrak bros you give ajsjhsbsn
27. “You don’t need to stay.” “I don’t need to stay. But I want to.”
Characters: Eeth Koth, Agen Kolar Fandom: Star Wars Short Summary: Recovery is a process, but it doesn't have to be alone Sorry about how long this took
It had taken him three days, nine hours, and forty-two minutes to wake back up after his initial arrival on Coruscant. Roughly ten days since he was rescued from General Grevious' hold.
Or, that's what the report that Vokara Che had handed him after he had regained his bearings.
She had also said that the burn of electricity in his body, the twitching and spasming of muscles, and the pain would fade with time. Eeth wasn't sure if he believed it.
The Head Healer had also stated that the faint lichtenberg scars would fade over time too. He believed that more than the other statements, really. He had seen how scars faded over time, and while some wouldn't fade entirely, these scars he had now were already pretty faint.
Physical pain and scarring were minor in comparison to the emotional pain and guilt that existed.
How many clones had died under his command, he wondered. He knew Lock had survived, that much he had been told, but otherwise? Eeth had no idea. There was also a bit of embarrassment and shame on his own part— Eeth Koth was by no means a weak man. In fact, he was often seen as the opposite. He was an Iridonian Zabrak for starters, with strength that far surpassed humanity's, and by the little gods he was skilled enough in saber work to give Kit Fisto a run for his credits.
He was by no means weak. So why— why did it feel like he had been bested so easily? Certainly, there was little doubt that Grevious was powerful as well, but still—!! Even outnumbered, Eeth shouldn't have gone down that quickly. Was he that out of practice? In the middle of war?
It didn't bode well if that was the case.
The sound of the door opening drew Eeth from his thoughts and he looked up slowly. His eyes met equally dark ones as Agen Kolar stepped into the room.
Funny thing was, instead of being grateful that someone had bothered to drop by (and he shouldn't be surprised by it, few of his closer friends in the Order were even in the Temple), all Eeth could think was that Worry really didn't suit the younger Zabrak's expression. Eeth Koth had known Agen Kolar for a long time, they had been friends since the younger Zabrak had first become a knight— and now he was a Master.
That aside, Eeth was certain that Agen was still supposed to be off-planet. Agen seemed hesitant, but smiled slightly as he closed the door behind him.
“How are you feeling?”
Straight to the point as always. But that’s just how Agen was.
Eeth shook his head a bit, but smiled back, just a bit. “I’ve certainly been better,” he admited and Agen hummed. The youger Master knew the feeling, it seemed.
Then again, they all did now days.
“I thought you were off Planet?” Eeth asked as Agen pulled a chair up to sit. Agen shrugged, leaning back in the chair.
“I was. Finished up early, then I got news about everything that happened from Windu.”
Agen gestured as he spoke, a hand indicating towards all of Eeth before the door leading out.
“I would’ve assumed you had other things to do,” Eeth half joked and the other chuckled, shaking his head.
“Not really.”
Eeth snorted a bit before he shifted, wincing a bit as he did. “You don’t need to stay, Agen.”
The other Zabrak gave him a look, before chuckling softly again. “You’re right, I don’t need to stay. But I want to.”
Sorry this took so long fhdjfhdjfd I lost all of my braincells

kiwi i would be utterly delighted to learn about how the order is in the kiwiki verse; especially the areas that are neglected in canon
Of course!
In the Kiwiki the Jedi are divided into four class groups rather than three:
Guardians are the Warrior Class, they are made up of Jedi who prefers to be out on battlefields or hone their fighting skills in the more traditional way. Jedi Aces or the Ace Pilots of the Jedi are also in this group. It is not to say that they are warmongers, however, they just prefer to be out with their feet on the ground and hands in the nitty gritty, so to speak. Think along the lines of Anakin Skywalker, Agen Kolar, or Ahsoka Tano— but also Saesee Tiin
Consulars are the Political Class, so to speak. Where Guardians fight, the Consulars take time to find negotiations, they are the political liaisons and diplomats, along with seers and researchers. They understand how politics work and use it to their advantage. On top of that, the Healers also fall into this division with Lore-Keepers and archivists. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Kit Fisto, Eeth Koth, and Jocasta Nu are the ones you think of, but also Vokara Che, and Adi Gallia.
Sentinels are the rather unorthodox division, and while they are often seen as the balance between the Guardians and Consulars, they are much more than that. Divisions such as The Shadows, Instructors, Watchmen, Seekers, Culinary Jedi, Investigators, and artisans fall into this group. They are both distinctive yet blend into the other classes and don't stick strictly to the traditions of the Order. This division has more acceptance of non-force techniques and non-traditional jedi skills. Think Quinlan Vos, Tholme, Terra Sinube, Micah Giett, and even Plo Koon.
The Guard is solely made up of the Jedi Temple Guard and their Sibling branches (such as the Guard at Lola Sayu or at other Temples, though these branches grew more or less dilapidated and returned to the main body as the Order drew itself closer into Coruscant). The Peace Keepers and Gate Keepers are also associated with this class, but it should be known that they are technically Sentinels.
Think of the four classes as such: In the case of a locked door, the Guardian will try and break it down, the Consular will try and negotiate with the person who locked the door, the sentinels will pick the lock, and the Guard is on the other side holding the door closed (lol)
Within these Class Categories, there are other Divisions/jobs that the Jedi can do. I sort of stated it before when listing examples, such as the Ace Starfighter Pilots, the Healers, and Investigators.
(More below but this is getting a bit long lol)
Within each of these divisions are smaller departments that are created based on specialty— for example, the various artisan groups, research groups, combat vs academic instructors, the various classes of healers, archivists who are more into research and logging vs those who prefer writing and creating, and so on.
Each department has a department Head, and then each division has a head picked from these department heads. In the Kiwiki, Cin Drallig heads both the Instructors and Jedi Temple Guard, but Anoon Bondara (before his death) was the Department head for the Combat Instructors. Similarly, Coleman Kcaj is both the Division head of the Artisans and the Department Head of the textile workers, Jocasta Nu heads the Archive Division and the Lore-keeping department, and Vokara Che is head of the Halls of Healing and the General Department of Healers, but OCs of mine— Altha, Nix Mora, and Bruce Rion— head the Mind Healer, Pediatrician, and Surgical departments. And so on and so forth.
(I'll talk about the Guard in a second)
Unfortunately, after the High Republic Era ended (roughly 82 BBY), the various Divisions began to fall to the wayside. On a traditional level, the Jedi Initiates were still offered many choices to choose from and Jedi Masters and Knights in those divisions would gladly train the initates who were interested in joining their divisions, but the equal power that Division heads had in decision-making slowly wained.
For example, the Councils would often make decisions and the Divisions would only learn of them after instead of being there in person. While the Division heads did not expect to be there for every bit of news and meeting, major events and news to be broken had the input of Division Heads in the past.
When the War ends in 18 BBY (Kiwiki'Verse), many of the Division Heads start putting pressure on the Councils for things to return to the pre-end of the high republic balance— this certainly did happen, especially with the reconstruction of the High Council as well.
In terms of the Jedi Temple Guard, there is a bit of a divide as the Jedi Temple Guard are the only Division to not accept Padawans into their ranks. You are either Knighted upon entering the Guard or have been Knighted previously. This is because the training within the Guard's ranks is rather brutal and Children are seen as too young to deal with that. Both mentally and physically.
The Guard also has its own structure and departments: General Guard, Night Guard, Lower Level Patrol, Political Guard, Healers, Ventilation Patrol, Sniper Corp, Trainers, and the Investigations
The General Guard is where you fall if you don't think you can fit into any of the other groups
the Night Guard primarily works for the Nocturnal Shift
The Lower Level Patrol deals with the lowest levels of the Jedi Temple
The Political Guard mostly goes with other Jedi to the Senate or acts as Jedi Escorts with Political Liaisons. They also transfer dangerous criminals— think when the guard brought Barriss in
The ventilations patrol patrols the vent systems in the temple. They were either all on strike because they don't get paid or cad bane killed the patrol during the holocron heist. one of the two.
The Sniper Corp is the least known branch of the Guard and are stationed along the top of the temple in hidden places. They keep watch for threats from the outside and act as cover and ranged fighters if the Temple is attacked externally (ie: operation Knightfall)
Trainers are some of the oldest and who train the newer guard in how the guard functions and works.
Investigators keep tabs on holo-cams and act as shadow informants between the main temple and the shadows.
All of the Guard within the division branches will jump around as needed and all are assigned to general patrols, front guard, and so on. It's like a miniature version of the main Order.
Anyways, There's a lot more that is just drifting in my brain, but that's the main gist of it.
TLDR: There are Classes -> Divisions -> Departments (based on Speciality) but there's definitely overlap and sticking with just one department, division, or even Class is not required— it's actually highly encouraged to learn under a number of departments at least. If you can crossover through Divisions and even Classes, all the better!
