I've been on a quality healthy romance books kick (not dissing toxic romances, I love that shit) but
God Bless authors that do mental health right
That teach me without feeling like I'm being taught cause fuck yall are the REAL ONES 👏👏❤️👏👏❤️👏👏❤️👏👏❤️👏👏❤️👏👏
Specifically this is my shout out to:
Penny Reid who's book Beard in Mind depicts REAL OCD and I will now forever be judgemental of the half ass versions in media
Chloe Liese who's Bergman brothers series taught me about autism from autistic perspective (and validated suspicions I have about myself) as well as the struggles of chronic bowel disease, showed me what arguments in healthy relationships look like and blessed me with bisexuals making out in a bookstore 🥵
Mazey Eddings for her Brush with love series which validates ADHD as a disability (my ADD is different than Lizzies because im introverted but it still means a lot to me personally) and the plus one WRECKED me PTSD dudes if you need to hear that you're valid and deserve to be happy this author is here 👏 to 👏 tell 👏 you 👏
And shout out to all three for putting their characters in therapy (INCLUDING the ACTUAL THERAPIST CHARACTER) NORMALIZE 👏THAT 👏SHIT👏

Winston Brothers Series by Penny Reid
This series is what got me out of my reading slump and into a “reading frenzy”, I read the whole series in a little over a week and that just made me read so many books, but we’re focusing on the Winston Brothers right now and I just loved them!
It took me a while to get used to their names, but I got there, lol.
My favorite book has to be book 3:
Beard Science
Summary:
Make a deal with the devil and you might get what you want, but will it be what you need? Jennifer Sylvester wants one thing, and that one thing is NOT to be Tennessee’s reigning Banana Cake Queen. Ever the perpetual good girl and obedient daughter, Jennifer is buckling under the weight of her social media celebrity, her mother’s ambitions, and her father’s puritanical mandates. Jennifer is officially desperate. And desperate times call for Cletus Winston. Cletus Winston is a puzzle wrapped in a mystery covered in conundrum sauce, and now he’s in a pickle. Despite being convinced of his own omniscience, extortion by the exalted Banana Cake Queen of Green Valley has taken him completely by surprise. So... what’s a maniacal mastermind to do? Likely, the last thing you expect.
Cletus Winston is my favorite character out of everyone in the series and it's just hilarious how things just get "solved" because and by him.
That whole family and their partners are just an amazing lot.
There are seven books with a few in between as bonuses and then an ACTUAL book with bonus and deleted scenes from the series.

15 Romance Books with the Only One Bed Trope
When romance characters find themselves in a situation where there’s only one bed and they have to figure out how to handle it, you know you’re in for a good time! It’s a classic trope for a reason, creating instant tension for couples – no matter what their relationship was like before that dreaded moment. Office rivals forced to share a bed on a work trip gone awry? Awkward. Friends who have…

✩📱👩‍❤️‍👨Review:
“Ten Trends to Seduce Your Bestfriend” is as addictive as the social media platforms that bring the two main characters together.
Penny Reid’s standalone romcom alternates between the viewpoints of Winnifred (Winnie) Gobaldi, a public school science teacher, and Byron Visser, a best-selling author. Despite having known each other for years, the two have nothing in common and are NOT best friends. Yet, they decide to fake a romantic relationship online for Winnie’s followers to further both of their careers. What’s the harm if no real feelings are involved, right? But as the lines between what is pretend and what is real begin to blur, the two discover that nothing is ever really that simple.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Byron and Winnie’s grumpy and sunshine personalities clash as they slowly fell for each other.
I found myself especially relating to Winnie’s character. As a fellow educator, it was heartwarming seeing her so dedicated to her job. Several times throughout the novel she receives criticism for her occupation, but she was always ready to defend her choices no matter what.
Additionally, I appreciated how Winnie uses her social media to empower younger children who want to pursue careers in STEM. Her commitment to delivering worthwhile content is what ultimately lights the spark in her relationship with Byron.
Because social media is a huge aspect of the book, the reader is exposed to fun formatting like Byron and Winnie’s text exchanges. Their instant messages in combination with their other interactions contribute to the realistic quality of their romance.

Quote
I liked to think of myself as Launcelot Gobbo from Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice; even a foolish man will produce some wisdom, given enough time to drone on and on in unchecked soliloquy. Since most of my time was spent in unchecked soliloquy, I held out hope for some wisdom.

🍌👖COVER REVEAL🍌👖
BANANA PANTS by Penny Reid
Release Date: October 17th, 2024!
🍌 BLURB 🍌 Estranged childhood friends unexpectedly reunite under bizarre circumstances and bicker their way to love in this bonkers romantic comedy. Ava Archer misses her best childhood friend most especially during the month of April. Ask any tax attorney, it's a lonely, grueling time of year. Luckily, Ava has just received a surprising and delectably absurd offer from her posh doppelgänger at work. She must pretend to be the aforementioned posh co-worker for one night at an extremely fancy party; a party so fancy, there exists absolutely no chance anyone will recognize her or suspect her ruse. . . Desmond (Des) Sullivan is a thief. And not the heart-of-gold kind. He’s the steal-from-the-rich-and-give-to-the-also-rich-so-he-can-get-paid kind. He does, however, have one firm rule: never steal what the target can’t afford to lose. After a brutal falling out with his father, Desmond hasn’t returned to Chicago in over ten years. But when a good friend is swindled and something priceless is stolen, Desmond must return home, both as himself and his thieving alter ego.
Infiltrate a dangerous secret society of the world's most elite billionaires while leveraging his estranged father’s resources and not blowing his cover? Sure. No problem. Or it wouldn’t be a problem if Ava Archer hadn’t just walked into the room, wearing a ridiculous wig, speaking with a preposterous accent, and pretending (badly) to be someone she’s not.
Bananapants is a full-length, contemporary romantic comedy filled with hijinks and shenanigans. It can be read as a standalone, but the parents of the main characters will be familiar to anyone who has read the Knitting in the City series.
