When will people understand that Shoto absolutely DOES NOT want Touya to die and is actively doing everything he can to PREVENT that from happening?!

I wonder how Shoto must feel seeing how he didn't managed to reach Touya after everything he done? (I do think he reached Touya to an extent with the panel of them as kids and him calling Shoto by his name not his hero name) but from Shoto's perspective he must feel like he failed.
I think it’s less about feeling like a failure (though he definitely might feel that way, he just hasn’t said it yet) and more that he is shocked. Because clearly he underestimated how desperate Touya is for their dad. It’s not exactly something Shouto can personally relate to—that want. Considering how Shouto has been trying to rid himself of his dad’s attention for the majority of his life, and only very recently started accepting his dad’s attention and using it to his own advantage.
I think Shouto put his whole heart (literally lmao) into creating that move specifically for his brother. To stop him without hurting him. And Shouto CLEARLY subverted Touya’s expectations when he said this:
Tumblr media
And following all of that, they then had a connecting moment when he pushed against Touya—you know, hence their child selves crying together. It mattered for both of them. But Shouto came at Touya from his own “we lived in the same house and it was fucked up, but you can’t kill people bruh” perspective lol. Which, yes. Those things needed to be said. Touya needs to hear that he isn’t the only one who resents their father and that the family didn’t just, not care about how he felt. Shouto saying those things PROVES that to Touya—someone openly acknowledging how messed up the situation was, and that his feelings toward the situation are valid.
Because saw how hard he took it as a kid when a sibling couldn’t share his sentiment:
Tumblr media
So Shouto kind of making up for that lost moment meant something, obviously:
Tumblr media
BUT—despite the things Shouto has made up for, with his words, I and many others have said it already. Shouto was never going to be the full answer. This is just my way of looking at it—but for Touya you can split his needs up into two categories: Dad, and Family. They’re one in the same, but different.
Touya already spiraled and collapsed from the neglect from his dad over and over again, when he “died”. What broke Touya completely was upon his return home after waking up and he perceived the situation as his entire family burying him:
Tumblr media
So this is just my way of looking at it—there is Endeavor’s validation, and then there is Shouto, as a representative of the rest of the family’s validation. Touya needs both. Because as evidenced by his backstory, his mom and siblings were not enough.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shouto was isolated from the siblings, and had too much of his dad’s attention. So it’s fair to assume he doesn’t fully grasp how desperate Touya really is. And he may not even fully grasp that Touya’s desire to kill their dad isn’t purely revenge—it’s because Touya’s love for his dad has hurt him repeatedly, by his dad’s hand. And I’m not entirely sure Shouto actually understands that. The twisted emotions Touya is experiencing. Love and hatred both, for their dad. On the surface Touya just seems like he’s vengeful—which, yes. But we as readers know it goes deeper than that—he wants his dad’s attention, love, acknowledgement, all of that. He isn’t just angry. He’s sad and heartbroken too—which is a harder psychological wound to heal than just being angry.
There was progress though—I also think it’s interesting how Shouto starts pointing out how skilled Touya actually is, rather than being something like “oh great, here we go again”. Also, it wasn’t in the fan translation (which I wasn’t a huge fan of), but in the Japanese version he referred to him as big brother Touya. It was left out on the fan scans, sadly.
But it’s just kinda cool seeing them both subtly learn more about each other and it showing very slowly in the way they talk and think toward each other. So you pointing out how Shouto might feel does make me wonder if Shouto will start to really grasp the situation soon, and vocalize that he understands now that Touya’s feelings about their dad are not simple and cannot be washed away with words or actions from just anyone.

When it comes to Dabi, how do you feel about the todo fam not having a reaction to his crimes?? On one hand, I get that it wouldn’t really push the narrative forward and the idea is to stop him first and that’s most important. But on the other hand, if the family wasn’t going to react to him being a terrorist and a murderer why include it? It’s not like they’re struggling with the fact that he became a terrorist and a murderer. Shoto was smiling and wanting to eat with him as if he wasn’t. And I can get them focusing more on the fact that he’s alive rather than him killing and being a terrorist, but why make him a villain if it wasn’t going to factor into the family at all. I can understand endeavor not caring about it, and I can even see Natsuo dismissing it as just Enji’s fault and not holding Touya accountable for his actions, but no one else seems to have any sort of reaction to it.
There’s a part of me that feels like the LOV actually hinders Dabi’s character and instead of trying to say he’s a murderer that is trying to destroy japan, they should have made him just go after endeavor with nothing else in between.
They are totally struggling with the fact that he’s a murderer and are clearly having a lot of doubt about how to deal with it all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just because the Todoroki family comes together to discuss what they feel led to this moment, it doesn’t mean they don’t realize that the first thing they have to do is to stop Touya somehow.
Tumblr media
And the parents feeling responsible I think is quite normal - both culturally, and in context of Touya’s issues festering for years and they failed to help him effectively. So yeah, they are taking responsibility and not doing like Toga’s parents who just pretended to have nothing to do with their daughter.
Tumblr media
As for Shouto, yeah, maybe among his friends, he has 1 private moment where he’s imagining what it would be like to have noodles with his brother, but if you look at how he’s dealt so far with the confrontation, he’s clearly prioritising justice here and making sure that Touya is not dragging more people into the family drama.
Tumblr media
Also during the fight not knowing whether to address him as Dabi or Touya - I think you can feel there is still a lot of conflict inside Shouto about this whole situation. On the one hand understanding why Dabi is like that, but on the other, having a strong sense of justice and feeling a lot of responsibility.
Tumblr media
If anything, I feel like it’s quite nuanced, because the family is well-placed to understand why Dabi came about, knew him as the innocent kid who was let down and could have been pulled back - but obviously realize that Dabi also made bad choices and hurt others.
And that’s the hard question the narrative is asking. What to do about villains, who were once victims - people who didn’t get saved, were let down, were never given a chance?
And the family is struggling to answer this question. Shouto making a move to stop Dabi, the villain, without killing Touya, the brother is an attempt to somehow square the circle, but it looks like the narrative is not giving the easy, neat way out and the family will have to look deeper.

First off, I want to say that this is my opinion and I do respect your if it’s in any way different than mine. We as humans have different experiences and those experiences shape our view of things. With that been said, apologies in advance, my english grammar is not the best, since english is my second language.
In this post I would mention triggering topics like suicide so please proceed with caution.
To start I would like to say that, initially I highly dislike Dabi, this was because of how the fandom sees him. I personally love metas and character analysis in deep and as loyal to the canon material as possible. However, in Dabi’s case, he is one of the characters that people have the worse takes on, and completely misinterpret what his actually personality is. I had seems some good ones tho.
“Dabi is a psychopath”
Now before anything let’s see the definition of a psychopath according to google:
(a person affected by chronic mental disorder with abnormal or violent social behavior)(an unstable and aggressive person.)
Seems pretty accurate to how Dabi behaved, or does it?
You see, even if this might fit with Dabi’s behavior, truth is, in order to understand Dabi you need to watch what he do instead of what he says. Once he is introduce, the first thing that we are told is that he haven’t committed any flashy crimes, which means, he most likely just did a couple of petty theft in order to survive or something like it. Which means that he isn’t somebody that just kill a bunch of people randomly and just because he is crazy. In fact, all the people that he kills are either villains and heroes, which more than the actions of a psychopath, it ties more to the actions of a teenage who committed petty theft and misbehave in order to get their parents attention. Dabi’s criminal behavior is pretty accurate with what kids that are emotionally neglect by their parents do; they do everything to get positive attention and when they don’t get it, they resort to get any type of attention, even if it is negative. In fact, personally, I think that, Dabi burning Toga’s old house was a desesperate attempt to get Endeavor’s attention. Dabi’s thought process: “my father knows that I’m alive now, nobody else have blue flames, he is a hero, he is going to know if something bad happens, therefor, if he sees a house burning with blue flames, he is going to know it was me and, he is going to come” just a theory of mine.
“Dabi dones’t love his family”
This come from Shoto asking him if he knew that Ending almost killed Natsuo and Dabi saying that that would’ve been good. So, for this I would like to say that Dabi is suicidal; this is a very important, very canon fact. Suicidal people see the world in two ways, simultaneously, in one hand, they want to hold on to every reason to live, they want to see change and get out of the emotional position they are in. If you want examples, first there is when his mom was trying to stop him to go to Sekoto Peak, he first listens to what she has to say, before lashing out. Then there is Tokoyami, and Dabi asking him “who is the one that really needs saving?”, after showing him Twice dead body; almost like he has hope that Tokoyami can, at least understand that a hero killing is not right. Another instance is when he revel who he is and, after Deku fails to empathize with him, Dabi even asked Deku he doesn’t even feel bad for him. In the other hand, however, suicidal people want to die, or more specifically, they want to stop feeling, they are in too much emotional pain and want it to stop. This is why, in order to find the courage to kill themselves, they need to first, lose any reason to live. For Touya this reason is being hated by his family. If he kills Endeavor, and Shoto, if he is responsible for the death of Natsuo, half of his family would be death, and the other half would hate him for it. Therefor, giving him enough reason to die.
“Dabi hates his family”
There is a lot to unpack here. First “the women of this family are useless”. This have always been funny to me, because he doesn’t say this irrationally, there is a reason for his thought presses. First, Fuyumi, he went to ask Fuyumi why his dad didn’t let him train anymore, Fuyumi, being a kid only said “don’t know, stop hurting yourself”, words that trigger Touya because, they are not a satisfactory answer, not to mention basically a copy and paste of what Endeavor tells Touya whenever he sees him get hurt because of his own flames. Rei is something similar, with the added bonus that, her telling Touya to stop doing what he was basically breed for, and she is also part responsible for (to be honest, Rei “free will” in all of this is debatable but this post is already long enogh). So, yeah the woman in the Todoroki family are useless when it comes to Touya and the situation on the family. Also he say the woman in OUR family specifically so there is also that, he didn’t call woman in general useless.
Then, there is the sibling dynamic which at first he wasn’t very trill with Shoto and Natsuo being born, because he knew why they were there for. And this is important because, even though he have the same reaction for both Natsuo and Shoto, he ended up having a close relationship with Natsuo and hating Shoto. If you like math, the common denominator in this equation is Endeavor, and, how he made Shoto the golden child.
Also to add to this part, right after he woke up from the coma, and after being told that he might never be able to use his body and quirk the same way he did before, he still was hopeful, because all he wanted all along was Endeavor’s attention. Note: little kids don’t really develop strong desires to achieve something as early as 4 years old. If a 4 year old wants to do something really bad is most likely because their parents and/or siblings are doing it and they want to feel included. In Touya’s case though, Enji unknowingly did something call “classical conditioning”, by only giving Touya positive reinforcement when he train and give good results, he condition Touya to believe that he was only love if he train hard and was good enough.
So yeah Touya didn’t hate the woman of his family, he hated how submissive and compliant they were to what was happening in the house.
He didn’t hate his siblings, he hate that they were there to replace him and steal his dad’s attention.
And finally, even though he attacked baby Shoto, he don’t really hate Shoto, more so, he hate that he isn’t Shoto. Even in the “My hero one justice” dialogue with Shoto, he sound low key self conscious that he only has fire to fight Shoto, and in the fight of chapter 350-352 he sounds more like he thinks everything would’ve been good, if only he was good enough. Which is the most tragic thing about Touya, people saying that he was only mad that Endeavor replace him with Shoto, and didn’t care that Shoto was being beaten up. PEOPLE, the most tragic thing about Touya, is that he WANTED to be beaten up. He thinks that, that is normal, he thinks that if he would have had Shoto’s quirk, he could’ve had been the perfect master piece that his dad wanted, and he would’ve been happy. DO YOU GUYS UNDERSTAND THAT? He is okay with being use, he is ok with getting burn, he is ok with being beaten up, because he thinks that that is what you need to go through to be loved.
“If only I had been perfect, you would’ve loved me”.

¿What are your thoughts on Dabi being on this page? ¿Do you think It get this character right?
(Also here is the page)
https://near-pure-evil.fandom.com/wiki/Near_Pure_Evil_Wiki
(And here is the section where Dabi is)
https://near-pure-evil.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Minor_Tragic
Oh hi! It's the cute question mark anon again 😊
have some sparkles ✨✨✨
and prepare yourself for my rambling once again because I'm going to tackle this point by point 😅. Also I get angry at some parts but know that it's not directed at you cute question mark anon, it's directed at the stupid people who wrote that wiki page.
Also sorry this took so long, my life is a bit hectic right now
Warning: Long, manga spoilers and season 6 spoilers, loooong, excessive use of italics and other stuff that makes the font look cool, did I mention this is long??
So I took a look at these pages (I was unaware of their existence before)
First of all I think just the fact that there's a page "ranking" supposedly "pure evil" characters is kind of... not nice. Especially with some of the the categories they have like "minor tragic" and "fake tragic". What is considered a "minor tragedy" then? To me it feels like measuring and comparing trauma like it's a product and deciding who's justified and who isn't.
"yes I would like 1 kilo of yogurt and 2 kilos of tragic backstory please"
"Of course. Just know that If you commit 5 murders your trauma is still valid but if you do a 6th it's not anymore!!"
They're fictional characters but it still feels iffy to do that just to categorise them in lists.
These are the parts that ticked me off the most:
Tumblr media
Now I don't know any of the characters that are listed under these categories, and I'm not here to say whether they were "placed properly"..
but just the way they phrase the whole thing as if their crimes somehow invalidate whatever trauma they may have. It feels wrong to me.
Specifically about the Dabi page now:
His page is full of inaccuracies, a lot of his actions are blown out of proportion while others are undervalued, and there's a lot of victim blaming going on. I mean the "reasons why he's pure evil" part literally starts with them implying that he was evil as a child:
What Makes Him Close To Being Pure Evil?
Even as a child, Dabi was determined to be acknowledged by his father, and went so far as to attack an infant Shoto, though admittedly Dabi would come to regret his actions when he turned older albeit before he became a villain.
This is literally the first thing on their list and they're already insinuating that he was born evil because he wanted his father's attention.
Also the fact that he attacked Shouto as a child gets brought up a lot by people who hate Dabi and it's becoming really annoying.
I didn't grow up with my sister and even I know that siblings can get physically violent with each other, especially when they're jealous. It's a completely normal thing.
That doesn't mean they hate their siblings or want them dead or that they're somehow inherently bad. Kids don't understand what consequences their actions might have, so it's illogical to say that if they attack someone they are acting with intent to kill. This is the same for Tenko too. He says he intentionally killed his father, but that notion comes after years of being convinced by AFO that killing is a natural desire for him. And just like how it's absurd to think that 5 year old Tenko intentionally killed his father, it's just as absurd to think that Touya attacked Shouto with the intention of killing him.
The parents are responsible for monitoring their children and making sure they're safe. Especially in MHA where the majority of children have literal superpowers, parents should be extra careful to try and prevent any violent outbursts their kids might have.
Their next point is similarly outrageous:
When he awoke from his three-year coma after having had his body restored by Doctor Ujiko and All For One, he showed no gratitude for having been saved, and although he was only saved to be used as a pawn, he did not know that at the time. He burned down the orphanage he was being held in to escape, threatening the lives of all the orphans and possibly killing them.
I mean where do I even start? The fact they're suggesting he should be grateful for whatever experiments were performed on him while he was in a coma???? The literal lie at the end??
The fact that he didn't know why they saved him doesn't matter. He just woke up from being in a coma for three years. He is obviously disorientated and trying to figure out what happened. No one's first thought is going to be "ah yes, let me thank my saviours!!". And these people also forbid him from going home so why would he be grateful to them?
It has also been confirmed by Horikoshi that Touya wasn't the one to burn down the orphanage so this page is either outdated or deliberately lying. (given everything else in this page I'm inclined to believe the second)
Tumblr media
Personally I think this is kind of a retcon and I would have preferred if Touya was in fact the one to burn down the orphanage, but that's because I like the angst potential. He wouldn't have been evil even if he had done this.
@kiritouyadeku96 put it really well here
(hope you don't mind me tagging you)
Even Ujiko himself was horrified by Dabi's insanity and considered him "too unstable" to be part of his plans.
The series makes it very clear that unlike Tomura, Dabi's evil is not from All For One's or Ujiko's influence, it's entirely on his own.
"Ujiko was horrified by Dabi's insanity"
People should stop diagnosing characters as insane or psychopaths or whatever else. You're not a psychologist, stop it. And if you are a psychologist wtf are you doing diagnosing fictional characters? Stop it.
Also Ujiko literally raises the dead on a regular basis, I don't think he can or has any right to be horrified by anything!!
It's true that he labelled Dabi as too unstable to be used as a vessel for AFO. But that has nothing to do with Dabi being evil. It's a comment on his physical weakness and mental state. So in my opinion it has no reason to be here.
The second one is a lie. It is literally stated in text that Dabi became a villain because of Endeavor.
Tumblr media
Them saying that he became evil "entirely on his own" is deliberately ignoring his canon backstory and how he was influenced by his father.
It is very obvious from chapter 350, that Dabi is Endeavor's creation. If Endeavor had changed during the three years Touya was in a coma, if the household had even slightly improved from when he died, if Touya had returned to literally anything else other than Endeavor beating the shit out of his baby brother then this:
Tumblr media
would not have happened.
Once again looks to me like saying he was born evil. I don't believe anyone can actually be born evil so this point (for any character, not just Dabi) sounds stupid to me.
Led the Vanguard Action squad in attacking the U.A training camp to kidnap Katsuki Bakugo, leading to multiple students being seriously injured to the point of critical condition.
Set an entire forest on fire, endangering the teenagers at the training camp.
Nearly killed Izuku Midoriya and Mezou Shoji by burning them alive.
He kidnapped Bakugo while mocking his younger brother for failing to save him.
I simply wanted to mention how these are all literally the exact same point just with different parts emphasised each time. They don't need to be separate, they could have been merged together as one big point about the training camp incident.
I wouldn't have mentioned this if it weren't for the fact this forced separation seems to be a pattern in the "why he's pure evil" section, while simultaneously there's a lot of points that seem to be missing from the "why he's not pure evil" section. I'm guessing they separated them to make it look like there's a lot more "reasons" for him to be classified as pure evil than there actually are.
Anyway these are true so I don't feel like I need to add anything else here.
While the rest of the League, even Shigaraki himself, came to genuinely care for each other as a family, Dabi doesn’t hold any affection towards any of his fellow League members, often mocking them or ridiculing them for amusement. He only sees them as useful pawns to help him complete his goals.
I'm tired of arguing that Dabi has feelings. Several of their later points even contradict this one. (I'm going to point them out as they appear)
Dabi has never "ridiculed" members of the league. I think that's too strong a word to use in this case. Mocking them sure, even being rude to some of them. But I fail to see how any of his words or actions can be perceived as him "ridiculing" his teammates. He ridiculed Endeavor when he exposed him. That's ridicule, that's where the word fits, not here. Either way, being rude doesn't make someone evil, it just makes them an asshole.
He burned several thugs to death when he was recruiting new members for the League Of Villains.
He went on a killing spree, murdering over thirty innocent people in cold blood by burning them alive.
These are true by his own admission
Assisted Shigaraki and Mr. Compress into attacking Kai Chisaki‘s ambulance transport to the hospital so they mutilate his arms from his body. While doing so, he and Mr. Compress killed the Sand Hero: Snatch, with Dabi expressing glee that people are aware of the murders he’s committed around the cities.
First contradiction about Dabi not caring for the League. This entire mission was to avenge Magne's death Mr Compress's lost arm. Dabi had no obligation to be part of this, as we've seen that Tomura lets him come and go as he pleases and opt out of missions he doesn't want to be part of. There's no other reason for him to be there. Anyway I don't think avenging your friends makes you evil, but this incident still includes the league hurting and killing people so in my opinion it should be both on the "why he's evil" list, and the "why he's not evil" list.
Minor detail but I'm glad they remembered Mr. Compress took part in Snatch's death. Usually it is blamed purely on Dabi and it's really annoying because it's from people who just want to hate on Dabi or villain characters in general and they pretend they care about background characters dying. Literally no one gives a fuck about Snatch or Crust, and if you say you do you're lying! (this is not specifically directed at you cute question mark anon, I'm speaking generally, you're cool😊👍✨✨✨)
I only remember them because they get brought up by villain haters all the time. I understand people liking and mourning for side characters. I think it's obvious from my profile pic. I love Shirakumo/Kurogiri. But he's a side character, Snatch and Crust are background characters that are there only to fill up space and literally appear once to die and nothing else.
I don't see enough people mourning Midnight's death!! Probably because she wasn't killed by a main villain and it happened off screen so they can't use it to hate on characters they dislike.
He was about to kill Endeavor and Hawks in a wall of fire, only to be stopped by Mirko, the 5th Pro Hero.
He sent out the High End, Hood, to destroy Kyushu as a means of both testing its capabilities and making sure to improve his father's reputation just to destroy it later on.
True, but again these are the same incident so they could have been merged into one point.
When going off to fight the Meta Liberation Army, he bragged how “[he’s] never been good at not killing people.”
Funny how in most of the battles we've seen him in he doesn't actually manage to kill his opponents...perhaps he's actually rather lacklustre at killing people! 😂
Anyway bragging doesn't make someone evil. It usually just makes them annoying.
He sent the two villains Starservant and Ending to attack Endeavor, the latter nearly killing his younger brother, Natsuo.
This is also true, glad they didn't separate these into different points at least. That would have been pitiful!😂
Although he saved the life of Twice before de Hawks killed him, it was only for pragmatism, knowing that Twice would still be of great help to his plans.
The only reason Dabi shows any anger at the death of Twice is because it would make it harder for Dabi to achieve his goals, showing he doesn't feel any true friendship towards Twice.
Let's get the easy stuff of the way first before I get mad and forget
These are the exact same point just with different phrasing. There's not even a different part of the incident emphasised in each point, it's just THE EXACT SAME POINT written twice.
This is unnecessary and they're not even trying to hide it anymore. They're just doing it to fill up space.
As has been stated a thousand times before, Dabi is an unreliable narrator. It's been stated so much in fact that autocomplete filled the words for me just now! Dabi can say that he doesn't care about the League or that he doesn't have feelings anymore but it's clear from his actions that he's lying.
Dabi cares about Twice. Out of all the League members he's the nicest to Twice. He never calls him names like he does Toga, Spinner and Tomura. He's clearly very emotional about his death.
In fact this is the first time we see Dabi openly displaying such raw strong emotions. It's almost a teaser for his true unhinged behaviour during the broadcast later.
Tumblr media
By the force of his blasts, and as Hawks comments the temperature of his flames (which we know are canonically linked to his emotions) it's very fucking obvious that he's angry. You know, just in case the "How dare you kill Twice" wasn't enough for some people.
There's also these:
Tumblr media
Dabi didn't need to high-five Twice,he did it because he wanted to, he did it because they're friends.
Dabi doesn't need to say "Twice this isn't your fault." and I haven't decided if I prefer the manga where he says it to absolutely no one meaning he has no reason to lie or manipulate someone with these words, or the anime where he says them directly to Twice which is very sweet showing him being uncharacteristically open.
He burned off Hawks' wings and nearly killed him, even calling him by his full name just to taunt him.
He tortured Hawks by burning his back repeatedly, scarring his body as well as severely damaging his vocal chords.
He was prepared to kill Fumikage and an unconscious Hawks by burning them alive, only interrupted by Geten's fight with the heroes.
Once again these are the same incident so they should have been merged into one. At least they added some details on the last one to differentiate it a bit from the other two.
Taunting someone doesn't make you evil.
Burning Hawks and Tokoyami is true, though I don't know if I would call it torture. It's more retaliation because he killed his friend.
Torture implies that one party is unable to fight back (usually because they're restrained in some way). Hawks and Dabi were having a full on battle. This is just Dabi gaining the upper hand in said battle. No Dabi stepping on him doesn't make this torture in my opinion. Hawks had Twice restrained earlier too but I would never call their battle torture either. It's a battle.
And also torture implies that you want to gain something from the person (usually information). Dabi isn't even the one asking for information here. Hawks is! 😂
Helped Gigantomachia rampage and destroy many cities across Japan by holding off the student's attempts to sedate him with his flames. He burns Kamui Woods and Kyoka Jirou in the process, injuring one of the latter's earphone jacks.
nothing to add here, this is true.
He broadcasts the truth about his identity and his father's abuse, destroying Endeavor's reputation and dealing a severe blow to Hero Society and the people's trust in heroes. Furthermore, he made up lies in the video, such as saying Endeavor forced Rei to bear more children, even though Rei herself wanted more children to support one another, making Endeavor look worse than he actually is.
This is a lie. Rei said she wanted another child after Touya so they could support each other, which is why they had Fuyumi. But after they discovered Touya's physical weakness Endeavor wanted to have another kid to discourage Touya from training on his own. That's the reason Natsuo was born. And then after that Shouto. It's because Endeavor wanted to keep trying his little eugenics experiment until he got the "perfect child". Rei states in canon that this would be too cruel (as it would indirectly send a message to Touya that he is easily replaceable which is exactly how Touya perceived it). It is heavily implied that she wasn't okay with having another child for this reason, but Endeavor still pushed her to do it.
Tumblr media
Rei very explicitly says "no" to having another child here, and then she looks scared when Endeavor insists on it.
So no, Dabi didn't "make up lies" in his video. Everything he said in the broadcast is true except for Best Jeanist being dead, which Dabi thought was true.
This is even confirmed by Endeavor himself:
Tumblr media
He doctored footage to make it seem as though Hawks had brutally murdered Twice while also revealing the truth about Hawks' past, manipulating the facts and not honoring his fallen comrade, all in order to destroy hero society.
The phrasing here makes it look like Hawks didn't literally murder Twice, and Dabi is blaming him on baseless assumptions or lying about witnessing the incident. Even though he showed actual video evidence of Hawks stabbing Twice to death.
This is blatant shameless lying
They lie about this particular incident a lot because it also appears on the very top of the page, in the "moral event horizon" section of his introduction card. Specifically it says:
"attempting to frame Hawks for Twice's death."
I don't know how to tell people this but...
Tumblr media
We literally see Hawks kill Twice. This is a cold hard fact. We saw it happen. The footage doesn't lie.
If you're a Hawks fan and you're denying that this happened then I'm sorry but I can't help you. Go read the manga with your eyes open this time.
Yes Dabi made Skeptic edit the footage, but he didn't magically photoshop Hawks into the video!! He just added the new footage to the prerecorded video Dabi gave him.
I would also like to say (hopefully for the last time) that Dabi using the footage for his broadcast doesn't dishonor Twice. It is in fact the opposite. Dabi has every right to expose Hawks as a murderer. I WILL SAY THIS LOUD AND CLEAR:
IF A POLICE OFFICER OR A SPY OR WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU THINK FITS HAWKS AS A METAPHOR, KILLED ONE OF MY FRIENDS/ALLIES AND I HAD VIDEO EVIDENCE OF IT, I WOULD POST AND SHARE THAT SHIT ON ANY SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM I POSSIBLY COULD. I WOULD BROADCAST IT FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD TO SEE AND I WOULD DEMAND JUSTICE FOR MY FRIEND. I WOULD DEMAND THAT THE KILLER LOSE HIS FUCKING JOB BECAUSE THEY DON'T DESERVE TO PRETEND THEY PROTECT PEOPLE WHEN THEY KILLED SOMEONE IN COLD BLOOD BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO DECIDE WHO DESERVES TO LIVE OR DIE.
I'm a Hawks fan but I will NOT argue over this. This is my belief. Go read "Accidental Death of an Anarchist" before coming to me to say I'm wrong about this.
It's also revealed that Dabi has sent his Paranormal Liberation Front soldiers to threaten Hawks' mother into leaking the biological connection with his father, who was a criminal.
Him revealing Hawks' lineage was mostly an act out of spite towards the Pro Hero.
This is true but also the same incident and should have been merged into one. Also being spiteful doesn't make someone evil, it just makes them spiteful.
Jumped off of Gigantomachia and tried to incinerate Endeavor with Prominence Burn, only failing due to the intervention of Best Jeanist.
Good for him and fuck Bastard Jeanist.
He severely burned Nejire Hado, all while saying she'd been brought down by "Endeavor's flames", placing the burden for his actions on his father's shoulders.
This is true, nothing to add here.
He took sadistic pleasure in seeing the agony his father went through, enjoying the shocked look on his face as he tried to burn himself and Shoto alive in a hug and wanting to inflict as much pain onto his father as possible.
He seriously burned and nearly killed his youngest brother, Shoto, in their fight, only stopping because Endeavor had been knocked out and because he wanted his father conscious to see Shoto die, proceeding to knock Shoto unconscious with Flashfire Fist: Jet Burn.
These are true but they are the same incident with different parts emphasised and should be merged together.
He holds no care for even his family, and upon learning that Ending had nearly killed Natsuo, whom he'd relied on for emotional support and cried to every day, Dabi actually said it was a shame that he hadn't been killed because that would've made Endeavor suffer more, and when Shoto claims he's insane, Dabi doesn't even attempt to deny it, fully acknowledging his villainy, his lack of feelings for anyone and his delusional and psychotic breaks from reality where he believes the previous him is dead and he is reborn.
Please stop equating mental illness to villainy. Just because the characters call each other and/or themselves insane does not give you the right to use the terms to demonise mental illness.
Once again Dabi definitely still has feelings. His quirk is canonically tied to his emotions and in this battle we see him going all out as he intends to get his revenge and die in the process. This battle is the most emotion we've seen him express ever and people are still going on about this?? To me Touya is someone who feels very intensely. Every emotion is turned to the maximum at all times. This is how I interpreted his character from the flashbacks. To go from feeling everything at 100% to not feeling anything at all seems impossible to me. If your nature is to feel intensely like this then you can't exactly ever fully go to the other extreme unless you're in a dissociative state, which Dabi seems to be in this particular scene. I'm not going to pretend I know more about this, this is just how I personally understand it. Dabi is still definitely able to feel things, and he's very much still able to care for people because we see him do it. Him saying he doesn't care doesn't erase the fact that we can see he cares.
Gave Toga some of Twice’s blood, which could cause major damage due to how her Quirk works and burned down her house to antagonize Endeavor. Toga was eventually able to make several clones of Twice during the second war, causing major trouble for the heroes.
Truly the lies and misinformation in this wiki page are just...
Dabi didn't burn down Toga's house to antagonize Endeavor. This incident has literally nothing to do with Endeavor, so even if Dabi claims that this he's doing this to antagonize him, him burning down an abandoned building isn't going to do anything to Endeavor. Dabi did this because guess what...
He cares about Toga and empathised with her
OH GOD THE SHOCK THE HORROR! Dabi has feelings!!!
That's why he gave her the blood too. Because Toga wants to drink the blood of the people she loves. He gave her the blood so she could feel closer to Twice who they both clearly very deeply cared about.
Tumblr media
Dabi literally giving life advice to Toga. There's no other reason for him to do this other than the fact that he cares about her. This is in fact good advice btw. My dad also told me the same thing when I was little.
Threatened to murder Endeavor's allies as the second war started and then tried to burn him to death with a large wall of fire before Shoto intervened.
Good for him, fuck Endeavor and anyone who allies themselves with Endeavor.
During his fight with Shoto, he burned All Might’s memorial statue as an act of spite to the heroes.
oh no... he... burned a statue... how evil!!
Tried to murder Todoroki and the heroes helping him with Hell's Spider. While fighting his brother, he mocks Shoto by calling him a worthless mix of ice and fire, stating he would never be a hero.
This is true, nothing to add here
Murdered Endeavor’s sidekicks Kido and Onima by incinerating them alive and then called out to Skeptic to find Endeavor, so he could kill him too, desperate to achieve his revenge even if it costs him his life, rejecting Shoto's offer of redemption and stopping his evil ways.
In both Kido and Onima's wiki pages it currently (11 of January 2023) says status: unknown. Meaning we don't actually know if they're dead or not. But if they phrased this as attempted murder it would be the same point as the one before so they should be merged together.
Also Shouto hasn't yet offered Touya any redemption. Shouto wants to save Touya, but all they did was fight and he told him to "stop". Touya doesn't know Shouto's intentions yet.
also "stopping his evil ways" sounds so cartoonish and silly 🤣🤣
The last point on the list is rather underwhelming I would say:
Rather than kill Shoto and bring his body to Endeavor to break the latter, he simply decides to head to Gunga mountain and kill his father, accompanied by two Twice clones, being transported there by Kurogiri.
After all the lies the spewed throughout this thing I was expecting something big to finish it off, but no. It's just another one of those filler points that have already basically been stated in previous parts. And it's not even an "evil act he committed", they're just stating his current whereabouts in the manga.
I'm wondering if they're going to "update the list" as chapters come out.
Either way in conclusion the person/people who wrote this page not only don't understand Dabi as a character, but they openly hate him. Their bias is crystal clear throughout the whole thing and they are outright lying about a lot of literally canon material, even contradicting themselves sometimes just to hate on a fictional character.
It's honestly pathetic and a little weird if I'm being honest. Ok you hate Dabi, we get it. Why do you need to post lies and distort the story in a website that fans use to search factual information about fandom? A wiki page is supposed to compile all available canon information about a character for easy access. Not spread misinformation.
This is why I only use the wiki to see characters' heights and ages and nothing else.
Anyway, thank you to anyone who read this far, and thank you cute question mark anon for the ask
have some sparkles ✨✨✨

I mean in Endeavor's case seems he is gong to die too. Last words of apology to the family with each one their separate things. The rough translation seems bit inaccurate so we never know. Natsu might be asking Endeavor what will he do now since his life will be hell as a continuation to how they told him in the hospital their association will only last till Dabi is stopped and Endeavor starts apologizing while touching Dabi's ice?
Endeavor didn't really do anything. If he died in the hospital with these apologies it would still be the same as it means nothing to them. He was about to kill Toya if they hadn't intervened. They alone did all the work in here and Shoto acknowledges that their ice alone helped. They are better without him weighing them down. What good is just an apology when they will never believe his blubbering because Rei truly believes he is incapable of guilt and their life story proved this to the children. He would have zero difference if he were just AFO ad remained irredeemable anyway.
Endeavor didn't really do anything. If he died in the hospital with these apologies it would still be the same as it means nothing to them.
I wouldn't say he did nothing. I think Hori could have given him more to do, but it's not as if he just sat there on his hands either. He helped fight AfO, and saved Hawks and the kids from him. Nor can we say what he's done post hospital stay means nothing to his family--we see no evidence of that.
He was about to kill Toya if they hadn't intervened. They alone did all the work in here and Shoto acknowledges that their ice alone helped. They are better without him weighing them down.
Again, he wasn't killing Touya--Touya was already dying and Enji was trying to get him away from everyone else so no one else had to die in the resulting blast. He didn't just decide to murder Touya. And sure, their ice is what stopped Touya, but Enji did help. He kept Touya in place so the rest of the family could even get to him--before that he was pinging around all over the place. that might not have been the original purpose of Enji grabbing him, but in the end that did help them stop Touya.
He's not weighting them down, at least in this situation. Touya needs Enji there. The rest of the family wouldn't have been better off without Enji when trying to get through to Touya. Touya wanted his father in particular, so Enji not being there wouldn't have made things easier--it would have made them harder.
What good is just an apology when they will never believe his blubbering because Rei truly believes he is incapable of guilt and their life story proved this to the children.
Apologies do matter, even if they don't fix the past.
And when was it ever established that Rei doesn't believe Enji can feel guilt? She was the one that told the kids that Enji could change when she told them about the flowers he sent. She tells him other people are suffering more than him in the hospital but she doesn't say anything about his words being lies. Heck, I don't even think Natsuo accuses Enji of lying or not being genuinely sorry--only that it's to late and it doesn't make up for what he did.
He would have zero difference if he were just AFO ad remained irredeemable anyway.
I know I've said that I don't understand why Hori had Enji have an character arc, and it might have been better to keep him as a bad guy, but there's more to it then that.
The reason I said that was because of Hori's inconsistent writing. The problem is that Hori can't just let Enji make progress the way other characters do, and has him come to the same conclusion over and over again--which is realistic, but sticks out like a sore thumb in a battle shonen where no one else has this issue.
Enji's arc has had a lot of impact on the story and it'd have a huge impact if you took it out. That was part of my reason for saying that it might have been better if Hori kept him as is, because Enji's arc takes up a lot of time that could have been used elsewhere.
In a lot of ways we are reading a first draft of a story. If Hori had another go at it I'm sure he could clean things up and make Enji's character arc more consistent with minor tweaks. It'd actually impact the story far less to keep Enji's arc as is with minor changes then scrap it entirely and keep him as a bad guy.

REACTIONS TO EPISODE 17 - THE WRONG WAY TO PUT OUT A FIRE
Jokes, opinions, emotions and emojis. The usual here!
LAST EPISODE'S REACTIONS
We're learning about fire safety, people!!
"Quirk marriages..." I wanna fight someone!
I forgot Rei had short hair. She looks better with short hair.
Hee hee... look at that baby and his weird haircut.
"... our children could surpass All Might." Okay, that got me thinking. Children? So Enji intended to have multiple kids? Like even if they all came out exactly how he wanted, would he have trained all of them to become heroes?
Rei was put in a tough situation, huh? She was aware of her marriage to Enji was a quirk marriage and one to establish the status of her family, willingly marrying this man for the sake of her family.
At least he was trying when asking of she likes flowers...
"Are you alright?" "Of course not. That's why I'm here." I did giggle a little. Oooh, she is upset.
"You weren't the only one to overlook that child's situation." When both parents play a part in the forming of a child becoming a villain later in life.
"That jerk is my dad." Yes, you told all of Japan that Maury style.
"I can't wait to see that miserable look on his face." Go to the hospital, he has it right now!
He's crying blood...
The episode title is hilarious to me because of the family in question.
Touya... calm down. I know you wanna make your father proud and all that but... GO PLAY OR SOMETHING! Sit down and heal!
This kid is really wearing a shirt that says "Fire 🔥". Not surprised given his father is wears fire ties. Like father, like son.
Tumblr media
Their faces 😆😆😆
Tumblr media
Enji is big as hell. Like he makes everyone around him look tiny except for the ones that see just as or bigger than him.
Okay, got it. He has a powerful fire quirk but due to his ice genes, it damages his body.
"Touya... you have what it takes to surpass All Might." NO HE DOES NOT!! HIS QUIRK COULD KILL HIM EVEN BEFORE HE REACHES 20!!
62 cities?! ALL MIGHT, WTF?!
No wonder he was #1. No wonder Enji is obsessed.
Aaaaw, they're so cute!! Precious beings!!
Tumblr media
"Why can't I do Quirk training?" ... why would she know that?
"I don't know." Exactly.
"It's just a small burn." Sir, I get burns and freak out. Okay, I lied, I just move on. I got used to burns. I cook, people.
"I don't want to see you get hurt." Never change, Fuyumi.
Touya, she is worried about you. Chill out.
Hee hee...
"It was Dad who inspired me." In hindsight, that was a very poor choice.
"That is unacceptable." I don't like where this is going... at all.
Look at Baby Shoto!! Future soba lover...
"I can do it. I can surpass him." I want to hug this child.
Please listen to the mess of a man, Touya. I want you to be happy! Be your own person!
Enji, though, I'm sure you're aware this is your own fault.
Serious moment, but funny background moment. The hell, Shoto? 🤣
Tumblr media
"Everyone wants to be a hero." Sad but true. Me though? I'll be a civilian.
WHAT THE HELL IS THAT FACE?!
Tumblr media
"After all, I'm your son." Sad but true.
Aaaaw, little Natsuo is too cute!
Tumblr media
Touya really came at his baby brother like that! Yeah, I would be worried, too!
Icy snot bubble Shoto here...
Tumblr media
"He really wants you to look at him." Yes and Rei, do you ever look at him?
Damn, Enji, for real? You would think after the disaster of you trying to make a hero out of Touya, you would let go of your obsession with All Might and give Shoto a choice to be a hero? Allow me to BE A KID, TOO?!
Wait... I do remember the kick ball scene. So... I don't know...
Touya, as much as it is your father's fault, you shouldn't blame yourself for something you couldn't control. Your genes aren't your fault, buddy.
Natsuo just want to sleep. 😆
"The women in this house are worthless." I will fight you.
Funny, that Endeavor's top sidekick is a woman. Worthless, my ass. 😒
Why you gotta do your mom like that, man? Really? You gotta look at her like that? Scary.
"You had no choice but to marry him." So you belittle your mom for it?
"You're just as guilty as him." Yeah.
"I can't stop him on my own." Damn you, Enji.
"I thought going there would make things worse..." well, up until this point nothing you did was right so...
DID FIRE JUST COME OUT HIS EYES?!
"But I had it coming." 😶
The family is just really pouring it all out there.
"Shoto is the hero of our family." I could cry right now.
Hawks, you and Best Jeanist are nosy. 😆
"What is illegal demin?" Yeah, what is that?
"I'm genuinely shocked." You and the rest of the public.
"That was my doing." I mean she isn't wrong. She did put the scar there.
"Shoto. You're awesome. " Isn't he?!
10,000 CRIMINALS?! 10 DAMN THOUSAND?!
I KNOW WHO THAT IS!!!
Tumblr media
Best Jeanist is always fixing his hair.
Oh, Hawks' wings are growing back.
Now they're bringing up OFA.
And we're back to Bakugou and the gang! And he's still freaking out about Midoriya!
"Sorry, Tsu." She does look depressed.
Ah, Iida being a good friend and Class President worrying about his fellow students.
"But he's louder than before." That will happen when you worried about the kid who has been in whole life who is now in a coma.
"What exactly is One For All?" A quirk.
"You're probably having a conversation with the previous welders." WHICH I AM SO READY FOR!!!
YES AND THAT IS NEXT EPISODE!!! THE OFA USERS!!! YES!!!

“when the pillars fall” shoto todoroki
Inspired by @/maddsbuckley on TikTok. Please go check her out, she’s amazing!
summary: shoto todoroki is strong, and he’s got the good looks to boot. but sometimes, in the dead of night, he falls apart and without fail, you’re there. you’re always there for him. then, the pillars fell, and he’s there for you just as much as you are for him.
genre: angst with a kinda happy ending
warnings: manga spoilers, takes place after the war arc, some cursing, critical injuries, hospitalization, shoto and reader are weak for each other
word count: 2,217
Tumblr media
Shoto Todoroki is supposed to be a hero prodigy. Shoto Todoroki is supposed to stand tall and strong, and keep his father's hero legacy alive.
And he's all of those things. Except for late at night when he comes creeping into your dorm with the key you gave him to crawl underneath the covers with you because of a nightmare he had.
"I'm sorry. I can go if you want." Is what he says the first time he comes to your dorm, but knocking this time because you had yet to give him his own key.
"You've gotta at least tell me what's wrong first." You say gently, and he crumbles. He mumbles that it was just a silly little nightmare as tears roll slowly down his face and you pull him into your dorm to cuddle.
"It's not stupid if it woke you up, Sho," You say as he pulls you into him like you're a teddy bear. And it’s always a little awkward cuddling with him after he’s had a nightmare, his body fluctuating sporadically between hot and cold, but you don’t mind because the longer he holds you the faster you fall back asleep.
You ask him if he wants to tell you about it, but Shoto never does, saying that he’s already forgotten, but the feeling stays longer than the visual. And you nod, and drift off faster than you should, but Shoto doesn’t mind - he never does - and he’s so completely lost in you. He’s so completely enamored by you, and he’s never been so happy to be lost.
He continues to knock for his next five visits after the first night, and you eventually get tired of him waking you up in the dead of the night so you give him his own key.
The seventh time he shows up at your door, he doesn’t use the key. No, instead, he stands outside your door and calls you. The dial tone rings in his ear and it doesn’t help soothe the tightness in his chest or the lump in his throat at all, and he wonders if it’s really so bad for him to use the key you’d given him. Eventually though, you answer - you always do - and he falls in love with you all over again.
“Sho?” You ask, voice scratchy and stiff, and he can hear you through the door, “What’s going on?”
It’s technically a stupid question to ask, you know he’d only ever call you so late at night if he’d had a nightmare, but he also doesn’t call you very often either.
“Can I come in?” Shoto asks, and you make a groggy noise of confusion.
“What d’ya mean, Sho?”
“Can I come in?” He repeats, and then softly knocks twice on your door.
You hang up then, and Shoto watches your door swing open with tears pricking at his eyes. And when you drag him into bed with you the world feels like it could never be wide enough.
Then, your world fell apart.
The pillars that held up Japan’s hero society crumbled in a measly seven hours.
With too many prison breaks, fatalities, and injuries to count, Shoto could care less. Because you were gone. He’d been with you early that morning, before everything fell apart.
He’d been in bed with you, cuddled up close and basking in your presence, the two of you had changed into your hero costumes together. He’d been with you for hundreds of hours too little that morning, and he wants to know where you are.
He asks his older brother Natsuo where you are by showing him the little sticky note that he’d written the question on and shown to every nurse, doctor, teacher, and friend that came in to see him. His throat had been burned to hell, and he wished more than anything to get up and ask every damned person in the hospital where you were.
He’s supposed to be talking about Touya - he’s not Touya anymore, he has to remind to himself, that man is Dabi, not Touya - and all he can think about is you.
Shoto has to remind himself that he can’t cry. Because right now, the people around him need him to be strong, and that includes you, where ever you are. He hopes you can feel him wavering, desperately wishes for you to show up.
It’s on his sixth night in the hospital that somebody finally tells him where you are. It’s Bakugo, surprisingly enough.
“Hey, IcyHot,” Bakugo greets, and Shoto uses text-to-speech to ask him if he should even be walking. The blonde is covered in just as many bandages as Shoto, and when Aizawa had come by on his third day in the hospital, Shoto had been told all about everybody’s condition except yours.
“Yeah, i’m fine,” Bakugo says, easing himself into hard plastic chair next to Shoto’s hospital bed, “Y/N’s not though.”
Shoto croaks out a pathetic noise, but Bakugo doesn’t need prompting.
“All the other damn extras said not to say anything to you,” Bakugo continues, and for the first time ever, the cocky blonde is visibly nervous, worried, even, “Y/N’s in the ICU. They haven’t stabilized since they got in. Nobody’s told me what happened to them, but apparently Dunce Face was one of the last people to see her before she was brought here. He... He thought that Y/N was already dead when he last saw them. They’re in a medically induced coma, according to Mr.Aizawa.”
Shoto sits there, in silence except for the quiet humming of the AC unit, for thirty minutes. Bakugo sits with him, just as quiet.
“Where are they now?” Shoto’s phone asks, the words choppy and abrupt, and Bakugo looks pained when he tells him your room number. Neither of them do anything for a while after that, and Bakugo sits in the hard plastic chair that’d begun to make his butt sore until Shoto falls asleep with a million things on the tip of his tongue.
Shoto is released from the hospital four days later, extensive healing and pain meds made sure of that, and nobody had been allowed to see you yet. He’d asked around, and eventually he learned that you’d undergone six different procedures since you’d arrived.
Tonight would be your seventh.
It’s hot. Very hot.
The flames are blue, and a few of them lick at you, but they don’t burn. There’s a battle cry from both sides, and you watch as villains pour from the Gunga Mountain Villa. It takes five minutes, and war has broken out all around you.
You’re fighting too, better suited for close combat, and you’re watching your classmates, your friends being battered around, fighting in a war that they shouldn’t be fighting.
You’re the first to make inside the building, and you’re vaguely aware that you’re bleeding. Fatgum tells you to retreat, telling you that you look on the verge of death. You tell him you’re fine.
You’re not fine. The building is rumbling, and the ceiling’s begun to cave in, it’s hard to breathe, and you can’t see through the blood that’s caked over your left eye.
The pillars fall in seven seconds, and you fall too.
You call for him, for Shoto, in the last three seconds of your consciousness, you call for him.
It’s dark.
When you wake up, really wake up and open your eyes to look right into the harsh white fluorescent lights of your hospital room, nobody’s there with you. There’s a vase of dying roses on the windowsill, and you can already tell from the crisp handwriting on the brown tag that Shoto had been the one to leave them. And it’s cold, but you prefer that to the blazing heat you’d felt when you’d fallen asleep.
Where is Sho anyway?
Your heart monitor steadily beeps away, and when a nurse comes in to check your vitals she’s surprised to see you’re awake. And even more surprised when the first thing you ask for is Shoto.
“Sho,” You say, and your voice is dry and raw and barely a whisper, “Where’s Sho?”
The nurse stares at you wide-eyes for a moment, before she gets you a little dixie cup of water.
“Who’s Sho?” She asks, and you struggle to swallow the little cup of water she’d given you.
“Shoto Todoroki,” You say, “Is he here?”
The nurse purses her lips, and looks at you sadly, and you wonder what she’s thinking about before she tells you that she’ll be right back with the doctor. She leaves three more dixie cups of water on your foldaway table before leaving.
You sit there for almost an hour before the door opens again, and it’s a horrible hour because every time you close your eyes all you can see is the bloody battle that should have killed you.
The doctor comes in first, and right behind him is the person you’d been thinking about since you’d woken up. You’d been with him all that morning before the war, and all that night. And you were with him now.
The doctor tells you what day it is, and you start crying when he tells you it’s been almost a month since you’d first been admitted to the hospital.
“Fuck,” You whimper, voice crackling and breaking as you reach out for Shoto, and he’s there - he always is - and his hand feels so good in yours - it always does - and you start crying even harder when you see the tears in his eyes. “I’m so sorry, Sho. You look so tired.”
“I love you,” And he says it like there will never be another chance to say it, and once the first ‘I love you’ leaves his mouth fifty more follow. And the doctor looks you over as best he can, before telling you that you’re cleared for visitors and that you’d be able to leave within the week.
And as Shoto begins to cry he has to remind himself that he is supposed to be a hero prodigy. That he’s supposed to stand tall and strong, and keep his father's hero legacy alive. But you hold onto his fingers so tightly, and for once, you’re asking if you can come over because you’ve just had a nightmare. It’s a shared nightmare, Shoto tells you, shared by millions.
Two days later you’re allowed to go back home, back to the dorms, and Shoto has to help you get dressed because you can barely breathe standing up let alone walk without your legs collapsing. Shoto kisses your tears away when you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror. You’re covered in scars, and there are still stitches in places where the wounds were slower to heal.
Your whole world fell apart in seven hours that day, and it continued to fall apart after that. Shoto’s there for you the whole way back to UA, and he tells you that your school, your second home, had become a home to thousands of others too. Shoto had given his dorm away and he’d been staying at his family home while you’d been in the hospital.
But your dorm is still there. And nothing’s changed at all.
“I’ve also been staying here too,” Shoto tells you when he helps you into bed, “I hope you don’t mind.”
“I don’t mind at all, Sho,” You tell him - you never do mind - and he crawls into bed next to you, minding your right knee with it’s poky little stitches and the new metal patella that replaced the kneecap you’d shattered during the war.
Japan fell apart in four days, Shoto tells you, and you can’t find it in you to care, because the world is too big and too wide but Shoto makes it feel smaller.
It was dark, when the pillars fell. And the two of you are blind, lost in it, and you’d never been so afraid of being lost.
“I don’t think I can go back to hero work,” You tell him early the next morning, as he gets dressed to go back to his family home, “Not for a long time.”
“That’s okay, my love,” He replies, he won’t tell you, but he’s not sure he wants you to go back, “Do you want to come home with me?”
He doesn’t need to ask, because he would have taken you with him anyway.
“Yeah,” You tell him, and you struggle to push yourself up into a sitting position, “Just... Will you promise me something?”
“Anything.”
“Promise me you won’t die.”
It’s stupid thing to ask for, you know it is. Because everybody dies eventually, but you don’t know what you’d do if you lost him. The two of you are lost, but at least you’re together.
Shoto doesn’t need to question it, because he’d thought you were dead for almost a whole week. And he doesn’t ever want to be without you, even though he knows he’ll have to.
“I promise you, Y/N, I won’t ever leave you, and I won’t die.”
It’s dark, Shoto thinks, as he helps you into the back of his father’s car, But it’s much less dark with you.

Hello! So, I do apologize, but I don’t know if you made the post or not (but I know a bunch of metas were sharing it and maybe you did?) Anyway, it was one where Touya in the panel saw Shoto and it was describing how Touya only sees Endeavour in him right now. However, do you think it’s a possibility (I know it may not be a BIG one and I could be wrong lol) that maybe he might see Twice? Like, the design is very similar. And it would be kind of ironic how Touya saw Twice in his brother and now he is seeing him in his biological brother if that makes sense? Anyway, like I said I could be wrong since Twice really hasn’t been mentioned that many times, but I just wanted to hear your thoughts if that’s alright cause I absolutely love your responses to anon asks! Thanks!
Hello, thanks for your kind words - it means a lot! I like answering y’all’s questions :>
I did write a meta about Touya's view of Shouto [here]. So, my short answer is, ‘It’s a possibility, but I lean towards no.’ This is because 1) the bond between Touya and Twice and the league wasn’t as deep as we headcanon, 2) Touya has been brought to tears and is in pain because of his father/family, pain which having friends or comrades hasn’t erased, and 3) Touya seeing Twice in Shouto wouldn’t bring anything to his arc or to the Todoroki family plot.
I know in the analysis book it says Dabi and Twice cooperated like brothers, but I don’t think it’s the same as blood family - at least, that’s the message Horikoshi is writing in bnha. Usually, the found family trope is used to portray a group of unrelated people who bond over shared/similar experiences, which the League doesn’t entirely fit because they haven’t opened up to each other. No emotional vulnerability has happened. The readers know about each League member’s background, but the characters haven’t told each other. This is why Spinner is under the false impression that hatred strengthens Shigaraki [meta here] and doesn’t realize it actually makes Shigaraki more vulnerable to possession by AFO. Spinner doesn’t know the root cause of Shigaraki’s trauma - killing his family, his father’s abuse, etc - and how can he, if Shigaraki hasn’t shared? The League knows about Dabi now because of his reveal tape and not because he was vulnerable and disclosed his trauma.
The League all care about each other, even Dabi deep deep deep down. I’m not denying that. At the end of the day, they have different priorities and want to be acknowledged by different people, though. Having each other isn’t enough to satisfy the void left behind by their real families/society. Toga and Twice had the strongest bond of them all, obviously, and he felt fulfilled and happy with them. But, that was only Twice. If the rest of the League fulfilled each other’s emotional needs they wouldn’t be looking elsewhere. Toga wouldn’t have sought out Ochako after Twice died to ask her for an answer that would either make her feel better or make her feel worse. Her feelings wouldn’t have depended on Ochako’s response. Touya wouldn’t have lamented “even though my face looks like this, I would have thought my own family would have recognized me.” He would be more concerned about the current state of the League as a whole. Instead, we have him super tunnel-visioned on his father, unworried about Shigaraki writhing on the floor in pain. The League’s unconditional acceptance wasn’t enough to replace the acceptance of his biological family. Toga wandered away and Touya went after her, which was great subtle character building on Horikoshi’s part, but even that connection revolved around the concept of the family you’re born into and not the family you choose [this meta explains it in depth]. Spinner wasn’t telling either of them to come back or anything.
TLDR; The League is more like a group of angry misfits working together to accomplish a shared goal, each mostly emotionally closed off from the others. Co-workers, if you will. Now, this doesn’t mean they don’t care about each other - they do.
Tumblr media
As far as Shouto looking like Twice in Touya’s POV - I mean, the costume is similar. I don’t think Shouto reminds him of Twice because of the tunnel vision Touya has, though. And the trauma, which stems from his father’s rejection because of Touya’s body-quirk mismatch, all of which led to Shouto’s existence. And the fact that Shouto is covered in shadows indicates that this view isn’t a positive one for Touya right now. I wrote about how Horikoshi uses lighting to provide framing [here]. The motif of shadows and light has been used with the Todoroki family often - the villain Starservant referred to Endeavor’s flames as beckoning the darkness [meta here], and Endeavor was often cast in shadows when he was violent toward his family during Shouto’s flashbacks of his childhood and the Todoroki family chapters.
Tumblr media
So, all of this to say that Touya probably isn’t seeing Twice in Shouto right now. I mean, an argument could be made that seeing the goodness in Shouto like Twice had would help Touya realize Shouto isn’t his enemy, but I don’t think Horkishi made the Touya and Twice bond strong enough for that to happen. And there is absolutely nothing to imply a Shouto and Twice parallel, or that they are similar or connected in any way. Touya probably knows Twice better than he knows Shouto, after all.

Touya is Dead, Dabi is Here.
Tumblr media
Dabi is the foil to Endeavor. His villainous foil. However, not everything is about Endeavor. Let’s shove him to the side for a second. Dabi is also the villainous foil to himself, in a stranget twist and turn of events. Dabi has a villain persona that he plays up, he’s trying to show everyone that he’s the monster created by Endeavor’s monstrous actions, but I think he’s also playing himself as the opposite of Touya, the villainous foil to Touya’s once heroic ambitions. Touya was supposed to die, but Touya lived. Now, Dabi is trying to destroy everything Touya is, by embodying the opposite of everything Touya was.
1. The Child Who Didn’t Get Saved
Touya’s remembered in a certain way by his family members. Endeavor doesn’t even seem to pity the child who died on his watch, so much as he pities himself. He pities the fact that he didn’t get to raise his son up into a successor. When he sees the scarred up Dabi still alive in front of him, he doesn’t feel happiness that his long dead son is alive, or even pity for the monster covered in burns.
Tumblr media
His first thought is disappointment, that Dabi didn’t grow up into what he wanted him to be. Natsu remembers the crying child that always clung to him, but he probably has the most realistic view of his brother. Someone who was suffering under his father, and someone whose pain shouldn’t be forgiven or swept under the rug. Whereas Fuyumi and Shoto who were both less close to Touya, don’t even seem to know how to talk about him, or how to feel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Touya is in the eyes of others around him, either a sad and tragic case. A crying child in need of saving who unfortanately did not get saved. Or he’s just not talked about at all. I’m not going to talk about Shoto and Fuyumi because of course they don’t know how to feel about the death of their own brother, and their mom who they’ve been seperated from for a decorated they’re coming to terms with all that slowly but... not only did society as a whole forget about Touya but, Endeavor too. He doesn’t really see Touya. He just sees an unfortanate lost child. He sees a son who he wants to come home. Touya died so young, and so suddenly that his feelings aren’t really recognized. Nobody really knows Touya, and the Touya they all understand is the sad child he used to be. The sad, pitiful, tragic, child.
Tumblr media
And is it any wonder that Touya doesn’t want to be this person anymore? That Dabi denies being this person? If all Touya used to be was a sad child, constantly crying, who was never good enough no matter how hard he tried. Then wouldn’t it make sense that Dabi wouldn’t want to be this person anymore?
Tumblr media
It’s painful being Touya. Touya is vulnerable, a child who couldn’t do anything about his situation. A child who tried so hard he ended up burning himself. Not only is Touya vulnerable, he’s frail, weak, all the things Dabi doesn’t want to be and all the things his father found worthless. Touya has flames stronger than anyone, but a weak constitution to go along with it, so much so he always ends up hurting himself with his own fire. It’s pretty obvious to see that Dabi is in pain, everyone else around him except for Dabi himself seems to notice it. He’s covered in burn wounds at all times, he’s literally constantly smoking, and just barely stitched together. Yet, Dabi denies being in pain, and through doing that, he denies himself.
2. That Child Grew Up Into An Asshole
Tumblr media
Denial is a coping mecahnism.  Refusing to acknowledge that something is wrong is a way of coping with emotional conflict, stress, painful thoughts, threatening information and anxiety. Rather than simply being vulnerable, it’s sometimes easier to deny that you are ever vulnerable atall. Especially for people like Dabi who spent long periods in their childhood feeling helpless and week.
From the moment a baby comes into the world, forming attachments to parents or other caregivers is critical to a child’s emotional, physical and psychological development. For an infant, having a gentle and responsive caregiver provides the nurturing a child needs to grow into a healthy adult. A cared for child develops self-esteem, feels secure in exploring the world around him or her and has a strong foundation for understanding how to build healthy relationships later in life.
But if those earliest relationships break down, the child may experience what is known as abandonment or neglect trauma.
One way of coping with this trauma is to be entirely self sufficient. To basically close up, never need to rely on other people ever, and therefore never open up. Basically, what Dabi denies more than anything else is his vulnerability, even though it’s obvious he’s in pain.
Vulnerability, after all is the reason he got abandoned. Touya was tossed to the side because he was too weak. Therefore, in an effort to be strong Dabi denies feeling any pain at all, and in the process shuts out his other feelings. He also denies anything, his connection to his family, any feelings of guilt or remorse he might have.
Self-denail, and self-abuse, it’s the same reason kids from bad homes end up acting irresponsibly and abusing drugs, it’s all a fancy way to hurt yourself.
Tumblr media
If overthinking about things causes him pain, causes him to break Dabi’s solution is to simply not think about things. If being Touya is too painful for him, then Dabi chooses not to be a person and plays up the monster.
Tumblr media
It’s almost like Dabi and Touya are two separate people stitched sloppily together, but they’re coming apart slowly at the seams. Dabi pretends to be a remorseless villain when facing off with Endeavor, but then in front of the crowds when he’s begging for sympathy he shows off all of his burns, sits politely, and presents a character that is much more human making his case that he killed innocent people but he did so with reason, for a good cause. While, the same Dabi instead of Endaevor seems to just want to burn everything for the fun of it. The point being that, Dabi contradicts himself a lot. He argues with himself.
Tumblr media
It’s because Dabi is putting on deliberate acts. He’s changing himself based on the audience. It’s just that he’s also not as good of an actor as he thinks he is. However the performance seems to be pretty consistent at least for the most part, he wants everyone to regret what Touya became because of Endeavor’s abuse so he purposefully makes himself into the opposite of everything Touya was. Touya wanted to be a hero to carry on his father’s legacy, Dabi is a villain dedicated to completely destroying his father’s reputation and leading him to ruin.
Tumblr media
Touya was known for being particularly close to Natsuo, not only playing with him all the time, but confiding in him. Touya must have been a good big brother to Natsuo if Natsuo misses him so much. Yet, Dabi acts like Natsuo is nothing special, just another casualty in his revenge on Endeavor.
Tumblr media
Touya was someone always working hard to earn Endeavor’s attention and please him. Dabi seems to only want to bring about Endeavor’s ruin and think of ways of hurting him. There’s a certain irony in Dabi being so laser focused on Endeavor, because once again you reap what you sow. Endeavor wanted to raise his child to exist solely for his purpose, to carry on his legacy, to center everything around Endeavor’s needs rather than to care for another living human being with needs of his own and that’s what he got - someone who is singularly laser focused and obsessed with bringing him down. Even if Touya is still obsessed with only Endeavor to the point of forgetting the rest of his family, that’s literally just a symptom, a side effect of child abuse, of Endeavor raising Touya with the expectation that he had to please him.
Tumblr media
Touya was a kid who is always crying, and Dabi seems to have no feelings at all. Once again, always, always he presents himself as the opposite of everything that Touya was and wanted to be.
Dabi denies that he is Touya, and therefore denies that he is in pain.
Tumblr media
He pulls his brother close, and hugs him, and then does the opposite of what a big brother is supposed and hurts his younger brother instead of protecting him.
It’s not just Dabi being the opposite of Touya, it’s almost like he’s doing everything he can, to  burn up and riun Touya’s memory. To deny that any part of him ever was Touya.
Dabi is in denial, but also I think some part of Dabi is aware of his denial. Like I said, he contradicts himself. He says that these are Endeavros’ flames, then just as easily he says “no duh, it’s obvious I’m not Endeavor.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think Dabi realizes what he is doing, it’s just at the moment he believes he has to do this. It’s the only way. Whatever, Dabi is hoping to achieve, the radical reform of society, the destruciton of the hero system, it’s more important the feelings of his family, and more important than his own feelings.
However, if those feelings are there it means Dabi isn’t without hope. There’s still a human side to Dabi. Dabi is still Touya, the same way Shigaraki is same Tenko. Their child selves died, but they never did die. Dabi is trying to be pure evil, but parts of him are still good he’s just suppressing himself.
I think what Dabi needs to realize is that his hurt feelings, his feelings of vulnerability, are just as important as the strength he fights with. He needs both parts of himself in order to live on, weak little Touya and villainous Dabi. I don’t think Dabi will turn into a 100% good person, but as for character development the same way that Shoto is learning to reconcile his two disparagent sides, his ice and his flames. I hope that Dabi learns that he’s still Touya, while being Dabi at the same time. He’s not a villain, he’s someone capable of being both good and bad. It’s only that way he can learn to live on as Touya, rather than hoping to die and drag his father to hell with him as Dabi.

A theory I have seen is that Fuyumi wants the family back so desperately, because she and Toya experienced the better Endeavor, where everything was alright. My guess is that after his decent into abuse its stopped being like a normal family and Natsuo and Shoto never experienced a normal family. But that is just a therory
okay so speaking as someone who grew up with an abusive and neglectful parent (though in my case it was my mom rather than my dad)... it’s complicated. there are a lot of emotions there. I think one of the things Horikoshi has really excelled at with the whole Todoroki plot is the way that he’s used the four siblings to show the different ways that children respond to parental abuse. and I can say from personal experience that all of them are valid. not just the bitterness, anger, and resentment that Touya, Natsuo, and Shouto have all shown at times, but also that intense (but tentative, almost wishful-thinking) longing to just have a normal family that we see from Fuyumi. speaking again from experience, that last one isn’t an outlier at all. in fact, in my case, I’d say that was honestly the strongest feeling out of all of them, and it even fueled a lot of the other three emotions. btw just a heads up I’m gonna delve into some personal stuff here briefly, so yeah. I won’t put details, but if anyone wants an abuse trigger warning added to the post or anything like that, just let me know.
so the thing is, even during my angriest times, if some magic wish-granting genie had poofed in and told the child me, “’sup, I’m here to solve all of your family problems, just tell me what you want me to do,” I wouldn’t have wanted them to take my mom away and lock her up somewhere and make her suffer or anything like that. honestly, even during the worst of it, the thing I wanted more than anything else was just to have a normal family. my mom had a lot of untreated mental health issues, and it was basically a situation where you never knew which version of her you were going to get on any given day. so there were times when she was a kind and loving mother who took care of me and my siblings. and there were a great many more times when she was temperamental and erratic, and we all (my dad included) basically just walked on eggshells around her and did our best to lay low and try not to bother her because even little things might set her off, and we never knew how she was going to react. and my dad worked a lot, and my sibs and I were homeschooled for reasons which I’m not gonna get into because this post is already veering off on too many tangents, but anyway so the short of it is that my sibs and I grew up in this unstable environment and ended up more or less raising ourselves. and I resented my mom a lot for that, growing up, and I still do honestly.
now a lot’s happened since then, and she’s gotten some help, and my siblings and I are all adults now and we’re more or less good, even though we all took a certain amount of Psychic Damage along the way and we’re each still dealing with that. and we each have different relationships with our mom now, and a couple of my sibs are even fairly close to her. but for my part, I pretty much have no relationship with her at all outside of seeing her a few times a year at family get-togethers and the like. the thing is, even though my mom did eventually (after a LOT of false starts and struggles and heartache) get some help, she’s never really shown remorse for what my siblings and I went through because of her. she’s never taken responsibility for any of it. she blames a lot of other people, and will go on long rants about all of the terrible things that have happened to her and all of the horrible ways people have treated her (some of which is true, and some of which very much is not). but there’s never even the slightest acknowledgement of any of the things she herself has done to hurt others. she either passes the blame or just pretends it never happened.
and honestly, it sucks. even now, there’s little to no real desire to change on her part. she’s gotten therapy and meds now, and so emotionally she’s much more stable than when we were kids, but one of the unfortunate results is that it’s all the more clear now that a lot of her behavior never had anything to do with her mental illness at all. she just didn’t care at all about how she was hurting others; or at the very least, didn’t care to face it. and that’s just how it is.
anyway, so I’m sorry to keep breaking away and telling you guys my own life story lol. but the point I’m trying to get at here is that I actually relate to Fuyumi so much, though. what I wanted more than anything was for my mom to care, and to say she was sorry, and for me to be able to believe that and to trust her, and for her to actually change. that was it.
and so for me, here’s the biggest difference between the Endeavor situation, and my own and so many others. the difference is that unlike people in real life, we know Endeavor is actually remorseful for what he’s done. we know it for certain because we’ve seen it for ourselves, from his own point of view. the manga actually lets us get inside his head and shows us that he really is sincere, that he really is sorry, and that he really is trying to change. and that’s something that’s impossible to get in real life. that certainty that the person really means it, that they’re genuinely remorseful and committed to making amends.
and for me, that’s fucking wish fulfillment right there. for the abusive parent to finally realize the error of their ways and be sorry and try to do right by their kids. I fucking wanted that. hell, I still want it, even though I’ve made my peace with things the way that they are. that chance to somehow heal the broken relationship, and have your parent genuinely try their best to be a real parent to you, even if it’s years after the fact? shit. I’d take that in a heartbeat.
and so when it comes to Fuyumi and her attempts to get her family to reconcile and experience a few normal things, I f feel that. I really do. because when you’re growing up in that type of situation, normal is all that you want. and I don’t think it’s anything that requires an explanation on her part, because it’s not actually an unusual reaction at all. it’s natural. it’s the most natural thing in the world. honestly it’s annoying that fandom sometimes tries to shame her for having those feelings. like honestly, fuck that. because the thing is, I’d wager that almost every kid who grew up with an abusive parent has at some time or other felt the exact same way.
and that includes Touya, Natsuo, and Shouto as well. literally the only difference between them and Fuyumi is that they feel that Endeavor’s change of heart is simply coming too late. it’s not that they don’t want their family back, just like she does; it’s that from their point of view, it’s something they can’t get back. for Fuyumi, that dream of having a normal family is something she’s still seeking. for Natsuo and Touya, that dream of having a normal family is something that was destroyed. something that Endeavor killed. something they’re in mourning of. and so Touya wants revenge for it, and Natsuo is trying to pick himself up and move past it. and meanwhile Shouto is caught somewhere in the middle of all of those reactions, because he’s still trying to decide whether or not he can ever bring himself to trust his father again. he’s somewhere in between his brothers’ mourning and his sister’s hopefulness. sort of a Schrodinger type of deal lol.
but anyway, the point I’m trying to make here is that all four siblings are really experiencing the same thing, just in different ways. Fuyu may be the one arranging family dinners and the like, but that same longing to be part of a normal family is at the core of Natsuo, Shouto, and even Touya’s behavior as well. Natsuo’s hurt and resentment, and Touya’s spite and bitterness, come from being denied the thing they want. and Fuyu’s shaky attempts at reconciliation come from her desire to still obtain it somehow. but at the end of the day they’re the exact same feelings. and they all come from the same place.
anyways, hopefully that makes some kind of sense. basically, everyone is valid. Fuyu is valid, Natsu and Shouto are valid, and Touya is murdery which isn’t cool, but his feelings are still valid too nonetheless. hugs and therapy for the Todoroki children in 2021, Horikoshi. please and thank you.

Familiar Cerulean Eyes Pt. 5
Click here for other parts. Part 6 is up here.
Sorry for the delay, midterms kicked my butt and then I was sick all weekend, but here it is! For those wondering where Shoto is, don’t worry, he’s coming. This chapter is more of an introduction to the rest of the League.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You expected there to by some sort of delay, making you sit in the black mist for a moment, a brief second before entering wherever it was taking you. There wasn’t. So, with no preparation at all, you were dropped into a corner of a dingy looking bar, surrounded by the unfamiliar scents of strangers. None of which you could assume were good company.
Dabi immediately shoved you behind him up against the corner, standing between you and the rest of the villains all of which who’s eyes immediately locked onto your own as you peeked out from behind him. There was no hiding your omega’s scent.
“My, my, someone smells delicious… what do you have there lover boy?” An Alpha on the other side of the room with a mask covering everything but his mouth and eyes stared back at you, smile on his face, a marble being rolled between his fingers.
“She’s so cute, I want a taste.” Golden eyes, wide with excitement, followed your movements as the petite blonde beta bounced in her seat, a knife between her fingers. You think you recognized her as the one that was called Toga, Shoto and his friends had run into her a couple times now. She had some kind of blood quirk and was obsessive with people.
You shrunk further back into the corner, eliciting a low growl from Dabi, which only made the alpha’s smile across the room widen.
“Now now pretty boy, why don’t you let the pretty girl say hello?”
The second beta jumped in now, his scent confusing your omega as it smelled both sweet and spicey, strong and weak all at the same time. “She should join us. Kill her she knows too much!” He sounded like two completely different people when he spoke, if you weren’t watching him you couldn’t have been sure that both voices were him.
The last person in the room, other than Shigaraki and Kurogiri, a scaled alpha with purple hair that sat the closest to you stayed silent, watching and listening.
You had barely blinked and the small blonde in the school uniform was in your face, peering around Dabi a wide smile across her features, her tongue licking her vampire like teeth.
“I’m Toga, that’s Twice, Spinner and the fancy guy in the top hat is Compress!”
“Toga!” Shigaraki growled out in annoyance.
“What? Everyone already knows who we are anyways! It’s rude to not introduce yourself.” Toga turned back to you, her crazed smile still wide, knife still in her hand. She took a step towards you only for Dabi to burst into flames, essentially engulfing you as well, forcing her to step back several paces.
“If anyone touches her I will rip their fucking heads off and burn them to a crisp”
The room was immediately filled with the scent of your panic rising as you tried to cower away from the flames licking at your skin but not burning you. You tried to rein in the panic, knowing you were fine but the sight and smell of the flames and smoke had your omega chirping wildly for help from an unknown source.
Dabi put out the fire as soon as everyone was far enough away, not even bothering to glance back at your terrified form. What the fuck was that? Did he know you couldn’t be burned? Did he care?
It was then that you noticed the deafening silence that followed. The questions hung thick in the air as everyone watched as your unscathed form looked up at Dabi with distress on your face. Even the hoodie you were wearing was barely burnt at the edges, making you wonder if most of his clothes were fire resistant somehow.
Kurogiri was the first to react, appearing suddenly in front of your form between you and Dabi, causing a low warning growl to be emited from the alpha, but the calm and collected beta ignored him completely.
“What’s your name little one?”
Dabi watched, ready to step in at a moments notice, but shockingly, you didn’t feel any malice coming from the well dressed mist in front of you. You had heard about majority of the member of the league from the Todoroki’s, mostly Shoto, but you were still amazed at the mist in front of you. Did he have a body? His scent was so soft and calming, even for a beta. It was so easy to miss. Like a light rain on a spring morning. It was no wonder you didn’t notice him when he first entered Dabi’s apartment earlier.
Everyone else was silent, watching on with curiosity as Kurogiri prompted you a second time.
“Your name?”
“Oh.. um… Y/N” You felt oddly at ease speaking to the mist in front of you, he didn’t have nearly the same effect on your omega that the other villains in the room did. You felt like he wouldn’t hurt you for some reason. You weren’t scared of him.
“Y/N…and can I ask what your quirk is, Y/N?”
You glanced over to Dabi, his face unreadable, before glancing around the room. As much as you didn’t want to tell the league of villains anything about yourself, you knew they weren’t going to leave you alone until you answered.
“Nullification skin… quirks and their effects that are outside of my skin don’t usually work on me. It’s pretty hit or miss though.”
Dabi glanced over to see that Shigaraki, who had been silently scratching away at his neck this entire time had stopped, glancing at his hands and back at you the question clearly written on his face. Dabi let out a snarl stepping towards the other alpha, ready to take him on if he so much as reached for you again.
“That doesn’t mean test it.”
You could see the blue haired alpha growing angry with how Dabi was talking to him. You didn’t want to be in the middle of another fight between the two.
“Come now, let’s not fight over the pretty damsel, I believe we have a mission to discuss?” Compress had spoken again, his eyes watching you with interest and something else. He made you uneasy.
“He’s right. Show and tell is over. We can deal with your little pet later. Kurogiri, get her out of here.”
Before Dabi could react, you were once again sent through the black mist of a portal, a soft chirp leaving your lips.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The room you were in was small and looked like a prison cell if you were being honest. Maybe it was, after all you knew that the League of Villains was not above taking hostages. There was nothing in the room other than a toilet in the corner and a mattress on the floor, as well as a camera perched high up in the corner of the ceiling. Not even a blanket to keep you warm. There wasn’t even a door, which really had you confused. You guessed that the only way in or out of here was through a teleportation quirk. You curled up in the corner, on the mattress pulling your knees tight against your chest, tears streaming down your face as you cried silently.
You had always been a cry baby, the Todoroki pups used to tease you about it all the time, even Touya. Especially Touya. You felt like today you were allowed to cry though, given everything that has gone down in the last day or so. You felt like every five minutes you were going to die, and now the only person who seems to care about your safety, even though he is the one that kidnapped you to begin with, was ripped away from you, not to mention he clearly was hiding things. Like how he knew what your quirk was, or at least that his fire wouldn’t affect you. Had you been on fire at the market? Did he just assume you were fireproof? Or did he not know and just didn’t care if he burnt you?
The emotions that swirled in you were so confusing. You had been kidnapped, caught on fire, and almost killed.
On the other hand, your omega was over the moon at the attention you had received today. You hadn’t had someone look at you the way that Dabi does in years, in some ways ever. Were you just latching onto him emotionally because he is the nicest one out of all the murderers? You didn’t think so. Before the others were even involved he was kind to you. Sure he kidnapped you, and yes he was a cocky arrogant bastard that seems to think he has a claim over you. But he hasn’t even fully scented you yet. He hasn’t really forced himself on you. Not how a typical alpha would… and he gave you a blanket. Unscented. What alpha does that? For some reason, your omega, no not even, you were entranced by the blue eyed alpha. You wanted to smell him, to build a nest around him, to…
You frowned at your thoughts. Why were you going there? You barely knew this guy, and clearly he knew a lot more about you than you thought.  You couldn’t trust him just because he was a little nicer than some of the other alpha’s you had known, let alone the other villains you were surrounded by. Just because he is only the second other person to get you a gift. Just because he reminds you so much of a red-haired alpha that you missed with every ounce of your being.
Your stomach growled and you realized there was no food in this room or water, you weren’t sure how long it has been or how long you would be in here. Surely they would bring you some food and water, since they didn’t kill you outright.
Or maybe they would all grab some popcorn and watch as you starved to death, your mind going crazy at the silence.
After a few more minutes, or maybe it was a couple hours, you weren’t sure, the black mist of a portal finally showed up again, Dabi stepping through, it closing behind him. He looked tired and annoyed, his hair all sticking up from what you assumed was him running his fingers through it. It was a sexy look that’s for sure, but you ignored your inner omega, refusing to acknowledge his existence as you continued to stare at where the portal had been. At this point you were done crying, now you were angry.
“I’ll be back in a couple days… you’ll have to stay here. It’s the best protection I can offer you right now. Tomura won’t even let me take you to my room here. He’s worried you’ll escape and go running to the hero’s” He glanced over at you, his hands buried deep in the pockets of his long cloak that was classic for his villain costume, a frown gracing his lips. “He’s probably not wrong I assume.”
“I want to go home,” His lips quirked up at your response. You sounded mad. Feisty. He liked it a little too much. He wanted to rile you up some more.
“I don’t doubt that, but which home are we talking about princess? The cage that is the number 2 hero’s domain? Or is it somewhere else?”
“What do you know about me?” Your eyes flitted over to his, a frown pulling at your face seeing that he was smirking per the usual. As much as your omega wanted him, there was no denying it at this point, you didn’t trust him for a second.
He squatted down in front of you, his arms resting casually on his knees, his face leaning in close to your own, the smell of alcohol on his breath.
“I know that you’re not wearing any underwear right now, cause I have your panties in my pocket. I know that the little gasps you make are sexy as fuck, and that you’ll probably be a good obedient little mouse once we get down to the nasty of things. I know that your lips look so damned kissable and I know that you want m-“ You shoved him, causing him to fall back onto the floor in front of you a weak hiss coming out of your throat, your face beet red.
“That’s not what I meant and you know it” the smirk on his lips wavering slightly as you turned away from him again, your voice flat. You were tired, you didn’t want to play his games right now. You were already starting to feel numb from the constant stress.
He let out a sigh, pushing himself back up onto his feet, pulling a walkie-talkie from his cloak pocket, tossing it to the bed next to you.
“Look, Kurogiri has the other one, if you need anything call him, he will get it for you. I’ll be back in a couple days and then we can get you into a more comfortable place okay? With a real bed.”
You continued to ignore him, wishing he would just leave you alone. Apparently having your life threated and being toyed with was exhausting. You curled up into yourself, facing the corner of the room leaning your head against the wall, as you heard the shuffle behind you the Alpha waiting for any kind of response.
After about a minute, he let out a soft grunt, turning to leave, pausing once more.
“Is there anything you want from the apartment before I leave? Maybe your old clothes for comfort…” You could barely hear the last part, a strange sadness tinting his voice. They only barely had Shoto’s scent on them, but you somehow knew that was what he was referring to.
Your omega spoke before you could even think.
“Can I have that blanket back... and some food?”
It was only a couple minutes after he left that the portal opened, your blanket, a singular pillow that after a quick sniff you confirmed was the one from his bed, and a bag of snacks and food being dropped onto the floor before closing again. You shuffled over grabbing the pillow and blanket planning to make what little of a nest you could when you noticed a sticky note with one word scratched onto it stuck to the bag of snacks. Reading it made your heart flutter in a way that you hated. Why did your omega want him?
Sorry.

BNHA MANGA 291 SPOILERS
(I GET MOST TRANSLATIONS/INFO FROM @.atsushi101x ON TWITTER)
Title: "Thank you for being fine"
TW CHILD ABUSE, OVERWORKING, DEATH, SWEARING
This chapter we got the rest of the Todoroki family reacting to Touyas reveal and pictures of baby Touya :))
Lets start with the other Todoroki siblings reaction to Dabi coming out as Touya
(THEORIES + PICTURES BELOW)
Tumblr media
(is this a bad time to talk about how pretty Fuyumi is)
We know Touya and Natsuo were the closest as kids and he seems the most hurt by this.
A lot of people were theorizing that Natsuo knew about Dabis plan but this proves otherwise (there is still a chance but its a LOT less).
He was watching the broadcast and seems really hurt by this (mfer HUG ME I LOVE U), while Fuyumi was in the classroom and the school staff had to call her.
Tumblr media
We all believed Endeavor forced Rei to keep getting pregnant until they had the "perfect child" but this scene shows that Rei was the one that suggested it.
I wonder if she ever regretted that choice.
Even with both Fuyumi and Touya not having the quirk Enji wanted. at the time he was okay with that as Touya already had a more talent that him.
Tumblr media
BABY TOUYA BABY TOUYA !!
translation (text on full picture that i cant find): "if its you" (I DONT KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS !! AT ALL !!)
We see Touya burning his own skin, so his current scars are probably self inflicted.
Enji noticed that part of Touyas hair turned white in this picture, which he at the time didn’t take seriously by saying ‘No way, I’m a grandpa?!’.
Tumblr media
He quickly moved on after that.
translation of this scene (not by me) below
"You possessed a fire power even greater than mine."
"Nevermind that! Show me your special move!"
("special move" can also be seen as finishing blow/ ultimate move)
It seems that Dabi wasn't abused from a young age like Shouto, but this doesn't mean that Enji was any better at parenting him.
Tumblr media
Oh god look at this ANGEL !! I LOVE HIM !!
Not shown here but we're told that Touya 'died' in a "Sekoto dake" (Im sorry I have no idea what that is but its described as a fireproof place where Endeavor trained him) with temperature reaching 2060C, its implied that Endeavour wasn't with him at the time it happened.
They only found a piece of lower jaw bone. (DABI ARE YOU OKAY BB WHATS WRONG WITH YOUR JAW ???)
Tumblr media
Back on the battlefield Endeavour didn't believe Dabi, but this smart bastard showed his DNA test with a 99.99% match, the results were broadcasted. Who the hell gave Dabi a DNA test? I have no idea.
He used the blood he had gotten from Endeavour in the kyuushuu encounter for the test.
The rest of the league of villains were shocked, saying it was the first time they heard about this.
He also explained his view on Endeavour, the way he was using them, Shoto's birth, and saying that Endeavour never thought of anyone but himself. He asked the public if such a person was worthy of having the NO.1 hero title.
Tumblr media
The kyuushuu kid didn't want to believe it, but Dabi began to expose Hawks by showing a video of him killing Twice.
The fact that Dabi was RECORDING this leads me to believe he may have known about Hawks being a traitor and that Twice would die.
Tumblr media
He told the public that Hawks killed both him and Best Jeanist. He then went on to explain that Hawks father was a villain (more specifically a serial killer and robber) and Endeavour picked him up.
In the broadcast he said that he cannot forgive Endeavour for being a man with such a dark background and becoming a hero.
Hawks wings are still burnt off but Tokoyami is taking care of him. Cause hes a GOOD BOY !!
Tumblr media
Endeavour was too shocked to move while Shoto was screaming at him to move back, he said that him and Nejire will handle Dabi.
EVERYONE STOP HURTING SHO CHALLENGE. (please give him forehead kisses and cold soba after this he deserves it)
I mean... even heroes have to cry when they need to.
Tumblr media
While Endeavour was still not moving and Shoto was in a panic, Dabi jumped towards Endeavor, most likely to kill him, ‘Thank you for being fine until today’.
Dabi was caught by a wire, before Best Jeanist appeared (MFER WHY ARE YOU NOT DEAD !!) saying that he will be returning to work.
(WILL REBLOG WITH MORE PHOTOS AND STUFF SO CHECK NOTES !! )

Hey! So I have more of a question and it’s got me thinking… and if you’ve answered this before then you don’t have to reply to this ask. But, with the recent chapters and the heroes dehumanizing the League calling them crazy/insane as well as S&S almost killing Shigaraki. Do you think HK will ever justify the LOV’s POV? Or do you think it would be just brushing it off when they get saved acting like their actions meant nothing? It just worries me sometimes cause we don’t get much acknowledgment of the LOV actually being right in particular circumstances of society, but the heroes never seem to want to learn. I know HK could be just building it up and I’m just getting ahead of myself, but the heroes don’t really seem to get consequences and there actions aren’t addressed for what they’ve done (hence E/Hawks situation, Nagant suddenly changing POV because Hawks “jumped in,” etc.) I mean, AM called Shoto’s brother insane and I doubt HK will have Shoto challenge others on that. This got long winded, so hopefully what I’m trying to say comes through. If it doesn’t you don’t have to answer like I said!
Oh man. Honestly---yes and no.
Horikoshi paints the heroes in a really really bad light one chapter, then puts them back into the righteous light two chapters later. He's really really inconsistent with the heroes and it's whiplashy.
Horikoshi is consistent with his villains, and that's it. Lol.
He paints the villains as victims constantly. Victims that ARE causing pain on a wide scale for other people, victims that DO need to be stopped from destroying everything because, in Shigaraki's words "violence perpetuates violence". Hori paints the villains as people who really just didn't have other options, but he has never stopped from painting them as people who are causing pain for others. They are still "villains". He holds the villains accountable in the story. Hori has just....never ever held the heroes to the same level of accountability. He's never fully followed up on painting them as perpetrators, at least very explicitly. When we're getting the villains' POV it's obvious who is causing them pain. But the problem is, this story is NOT being told from the LOV's POV. It's not. It's not supposed to be, and it's not going to be. Shigaraki--yes--but his plot line is really personal and I'd say focuses way more on the pain AFO and his dead family causes him rather than society. Although, him talking about All Might again is a call out to society.
So, with what All Might said---I honestly...don't expect Shouto or, anybody really, to tell him that was shitty. I don't expect any kind of call out. I don't. Unfortunately. But I'd love to be proven wrong.
What I think WILL be addressed, is each of the LOV members' personal pain.
Shigaraki's pain will be addressed through Midoriya. His hatred for hero society because nobody saved him, because everybody worships All Might like a god when he's not really any better than the other heroes (on the surface), will all be acknowledged by Midoriya. What I think will happen is Shigaraki isn't going to change his view on society (he shouldn't), but rather be given hope for society to redeem itself. In the same way Midoriya is going to be hoping for Shigaraki to change in the upcoming chapters, I think Shigaraki is going to change because Midoriya is giving him hope. Not because "the heroes were right and I was wrong", but because, "someone saw me as a human being worth saving despite everything I'd done, so maybe there is hope for change after all".
Touya's pain will be addressed through Shouto. Touya's family loves him. And he doesn't have to exist as an extension of his dad. Shouto had to learn the same thing, and he'll be the one to help Touya realize this. I'm not worried about Touya's personal pain being addressed because it will be. Where I get a little shaky here is whether Touya's criticisms of a society that allows his father to exist and STILL be a hero will be addressed. I think, to an extent, yes. People in the streets are blaming Endeavor, as they should. But....that's it. That's all we've gotten so far. Not the pros, not the UA kids, not even All Might! is saying SHIT about it. So, THAT is where I'm not so sure just HOW accountable Endeavor is going to be held simply because the story isn't doing it right now. But Hori is so unorganized, so so unorganized. He nails his points when he does, really he does, but the follow up is never there. It always comes back into play at the weirdest times it seems, but he doesn't seem to forget things he's introduced into the story. So, I have hope for this to change on the Endeavor front.
Toga--her story is less fleshed out, but Ochacko will eventually show her unconditional acceptance. Ochacko I think will think back on what she said (because she keeps going back to that specific moment with Toga) and be able to show Toga how she thinks differently now through her words and actions. Toga's family rejecting her---I doubt we'll get much there tbh. Where I get a little shaky on TOGA's POV is demonizing quirks. Yes I do think Toga will get to show that her quirk doesn't make her a deviant, how she can actually help (and save!) people using it despite how uncomfortable it is on paper. But idk if that'll be addressed on a large scale.
Spinner--oof. His stuff is deepy rooted in a societal issue and idk how it'll resolve itself within the story. Discrimination isn't something that just goes away after a few words so, tbh idk. I think we'll get to see Spinner be the face of a movement though in the end, since he has a fuckin fan club of cosplayers lmao.
TL;DR: I 100% think the LOV's personal pain will be addressed. I am NOT sure if the wide-scale societal issues will be addressed. Or rather, addressed well at least.
I don't think Hori will be so lazy as to make the villains all think "oh, we were wrong, darn". I think it'll be more of "We had no hope for seeing anything improve, but now we do."
Which acknowledges that there MUST be change, there HAS to be, but that in order to make that change happen, the endless cycle of violence has to stop. And the heroes (kids) are gonna be the ones to put a stop to it by showing compassion to those who hurt them. And they'll put a stop to it by giving them an opportunity to live normal lives in society.
I don't think there will be any mass destruction of society. It was never going to go that route because anarchy isn't the answer lol. And at the end of the day, the heroes are going to win. But the heroes are going to win by saving, not by perpetuating more violence.

↳  ❝burn❞ dabi x fem!reader → part III
summary: touya todoroki, your childhood friend was dead or so you thought. trying to dig deep you find dabi at a local bar known for being a villain hangout. word count: 1.8k tags/warnings: flashback, bar setting a/n: now we’re getting somewhere, hope you guys enjoy!
masterlist
part II part III part IV
It didn’t take long for you to realize that things weren’t okay at home for Touya. You were a smart kid, observant. You didn’t miss how tired he looked, the bags under his eyes. The bruises that covered his skin, the burns. Whenever you asked him he would just brush it off and say he fell or hurt himself with his quirk again.
There were only so many times you could believe that. Eventually, he opened up about it. He trusted you more than anyone but he carried an amount of shame at the truth of what happened at home. His father trained him, harder than a child should ever have to train. Even when Fuyumi and Natsuo were born and got their quirks he continued to train Touya because he was still the best bet at becoming a hero out of all of them despite his quirks drawbacks.
There were many nights Touya would go to your house, climbing in your window. You would play video games, watch movies, or sometimes fall asleep beside each other. Anything that you could do to distract or give him shelter from what he faced at home.
It was only when Shoto got his quirk that Enji Todoroki gave up on Touya. It was the first year of UA. You remember him tapping at your window, tears in his eyes. He never cried, it hurt to see him cry more than you could ever describe.
It was complicated, in a way he was free from his father’s torment but at the same time, he felt so abandoned. The training and suffering he went through all for nothing. His own father didn’t believe he could be a good hero.
That night you found Touya at your window. Letting him in he explained what had happened before breaking down.
You took him in your arms and held him close as he let out all of the emotions he had stored up for years. The music you had playing softly a background to his quiet sobs. You pressed a kiss against the crown of his red hair, holding back the blooming feelings you had for him.
As he eventually calmed down, he finally spoke.
“I’m sorry.” His voice was low and raspy from crying.
“You have nothing to be sorry about, you know I’m always here for you.” You said, brushing your hands through his hair.
“I don’t know what I’d do without you.” He whispered.
“Me neither.” You said giving him a soft smile before hugging him closer.
There was nothing harder than watching Touya and what he went through during all the years you knew him and not being able to do anything about it.
Perhaps it wasn’t the best idea to look into something that the hero commission seemed to want to look the other way on but you were always one to get into things you shouldn’t. It wasn’t like you had a high rank you’d be at risk of losing, the worst they could do was take away your hero license and they were dumb if they thought you wouldn’t become a vigilante.
It was a dangerous game. You had two options, tail Hawks, and see what he was up to on a normal day. Hawks was far faster than you which would leave you struggling to keep up not to mention he had keen senses that would probably pick up on you quickly. The other option was to follow Dabi from the League of Villains, finding him wouldn’t be easy and the likelihood of him trying to kill you if he caught on was high.
Neither option was good but if you didn’t do something it would bother you. You had to get to the bottom of this.
Villains could be predictable, they had spots they liked to hang out in or make deals at. You dressed in civilian clothes, put a wig on, and did what you could to look different from your usual appearance. Waiting till night time you went to a bar that was a hot spot for villains. It was hard but you could repress the rain that followed you these days. It would take a lot of energy but it was possible and would help your cover.
Entering the bar you were hit by a cloud of smoke and the sound of music playing, the bass rumbling through the floor. This was the last place anyone wanted to be if they weren’t looking to get in trouble. Walking in you recognized a few villains right away. You carefully scanned the room as you made your way to the bar.
Ordering a whiskey neat you made your way to an empty corner of the bar, making sure to keep you back to the wall and your eyes on the entrance. You made note of the exits of the building.
Time passed and you waited, sipping your drink slowly and watching your surroundings. Some people glanced over at you but didn’t bother you. If you acted like you belonged somewhere people usually didn’t question that confidence.
The door opened and finally, you caught sight of the man you were looking for. Dabi walked in, you watched as other villains looked nervous at the sight of him. From what you had heard he was dangerous and quick to act if he felt the need to. No doubt people had learned not to mess with him here.
For a moment his gaze scanned the room pausing at the sight of you in the corner. He looked you up and down before walking to the bar, sitting down there. You watched him carefully as he ordered a drink and started sipping on it. You weren’t sure what exactly you were looking for, you doubted Hawks would show his face here and you didn’t think talking to him was the best idea.
At the same time if you missed your chance to get information from him now you might not get another chance. You could tail him home but if he caught on it would be bad, worse if you ended up at the league’s hideout.
After mulling it over you decided you should take the chance. If worse came to worse you knew you could escape if things got violent here. Standing up you made your way to the bar, placing your empty glass down before waving the bartender over for another one.
Dabi was next to you but you didn’t look over hoping to get his interest by seeming indifferent. You could feel his gaze on you.
“What brings someone like you to a dark place like this?” His raspy voice cut through the music of the bar. You looked over slowly smirking at him.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” You teased.
Seeing him this close up it was odd. You took in the dark patches of skin that covered his face, the staples connecting them to his unmarred skin. His eyes, the striking blue eyes felt familiar.
“Dabi, you bastard.” A man stepped up to his other side grabbing his shoulder roughly. The drunk man looked angry.
“Shove off.” He growled at the man before standing up pushing him back.
“Take it outside!” The bartender shouted at them.
“Gladly,” Dabi said with a dangerous glint in his eyes. He grabbed onto the man by the back of his shirt. “Sorry, doll. Another time.”
You stood there shocked by what happened. You had been so close to having a conversation with him before that man had interrupted. You let out a huff finishing off your drink. You waited a moment before following them out. You wanted to see what was going on.
Turning around the corner into the alley you could hear the commotion of Dabi and the man fighting. What you didn’t expect was the gas that had filled the small area. It must have been from the man’s quirk. You stopped breathing, hoping to stop whatever effects it might have but you were too late. You already felt woozy, your vision fading.
Blue flames filled the alley, the heat intense against your skin but not hurting you. You collapsed to the ground, falling onto your hands and knees. As everything faded to black you saw one last thing. The figure of Dabi approached you slowly, intimidating as he drew closer.
“You never could stay out of trouble, huh?” His voice sounded fuzzy, you could barely make out his words before your head hit the ground.
The breeze was soft a cool, moving through the petals of the cherry blossom tree above you. You laid across the soft grass, Touya next to you. You looked overtaking in his features as he watched the tree sway above the two of you. You smiled at how peaceful he looked.
“What are you smiling at, raindrop?” He said looking over with a teasing look.
“Trying to figure it out.” You teased. Touya let out a short laugh.
“Very creative.” He said. In one quick moment, he was over you, leaning down, his nose almost against yours. “If I didn’t know better I would say you were admiring me.”
“Hmm, I don’t know what you're talking about.” You said cheekily.
“Really?” He said leaning in closer, pressing his forehead against yours, almost brushing his lips against yours. “Then I guess you don’t want a kiss.” He said before laying back down at your side.
“Wait,” You said in a huff, pouting as you rolled to your side, leaning over him. You leaned down for a kiss but he turned his head.
“Nope.” He said as you tried again only to be dodged once again.
“Touya.” You whined. “Fine, I was admiring your handsome looks. Are you happy.”
“Yes.” He said with a smirk, his arms wrapping around you and pulling you on top of him. His lips finally met yours, softly. You smiled against him, content.
Sighing, you rest your cheek against his chest, listening to his heartbeat and taking in his comforting scent. Your eyes drifted closed, sleepy from how relaxed you were.
“Go to sleep, raindrop. I’ll wake you up when it’s time to go.” He said, his hand brushing up and down your back helping you fall to sleep even more.
You woke with a gasp, your lungs burning. Looking around you expected to be in the alley or somewhere worse but you were in your home. In your bed.
Had there been a hero nearby? Or perhaps one undercover at the bar that saw you hurt? Why hadn’t they left a note or taken you to the hospital?
You laid back down, exhausted still. Too tired to wonder what happened. You could figure that out later.
Your mind drifted back to your dream. It made your heartache it was so real. You could feel his arms around you, his lips against yours. Tears welled in your eyes. You never had the chance to kiss Touya, never had the chance to tell him how you felt and that would haunt you till the end of your days.

With the translations being out now it’s obvious Horikoshi is going to keep it vague. Rei says he has to “fight Dabi” and then Shoto says they will “stop Touya-nii” together. I see people are taking this as “kill him” because of the fighting part. But isn’t it only expected that they’re going to HAVE to fight him if they want to save him? Touya isn’t just gonna give in, he’s gonna fight them and probably try to kill them before they finally get through to him. Fighting doesn’t mean killing...jeez people like WHY
I mean, yeah. It’s pretty much exactly what I expected even if I would wish for a clearer statement to mitigate fandom nightmare. But suspense and all. I wasn’t figuring we’d even get this much about their thinking lol.
The problem with the interpretation that the context could mean kill is that... the Todofam has already tried this. In multiple ways. Ignoring Touya didn’t work, locking Rei away didn’t work, fighting bad guys and putting them down didn’t work. Natsuo even says his mistake was not doing enough, not not turning against Touya. For them to fight Touya to the death makes no sense, because it’s clear what Touya wanted was to matter to his family.
I know Rei’s statement here doesn’t come across super well to many, and I think that’s fair, but in my opinion she’s foreshadowing that through love, care, and forgiveness--as Shouto has demonstrated towards her despite her failures and mistakes--they can heal. I think she’s prepared to show precisely this unconditional love and forgiveness towards Touya.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I get that people don’t love the vagueness and frankly I don’t either, but it serves a bit of a plot purpose (albeit a somewhat hamfisted one): Hawks and Best Jeanist eavesdropping needs to matter to the plot, and most likely for how things are going to go, they need to misunderstand.
Tumblr media
As I’ve been saying, I really think Hawks is going to go after Dabi, but I don’t think Hawks is willing to do this because he’s some sadist who wants vengeance. Hawks genuinely believes he’s doing the right thing, which is the nexus of hubris (people say hubris=pride, but that’s an oversimplification of what the word actually means). If Hawks overheard them saying explicitly they were going to try to save Touya, I really doubt he would go after Dabi. He would probably be confused, and I’m not sure what he’d do, but I don’t think he’d try to take care of Dabi on his own. That they use ambiguous words fuels my theory that BJ and Hawks are going to misunderstand this and think they’re helping when they’re not.
The phone makes it possible Hawks will first try to target Dabi in the media as well by making it seem his family really just wants to get rid of him--it might improve Enji’s image publicly but would not be what Enji really wants. Basically, Hawks misunderstands Enji, and whatever the ultimate direction he goes in, the ambiguous wording kind of serves as a plot point to allow this to happen.
