I was in some desperate need of some Julieta/Agustín & Pepa/Félix wholesome content. Some angst may happen in a later chapter but nothing too dramatic. I love them too much to truly pull them apart and hurt them or have them hurt each other.
I’d walk a thousand miles (just to see you)
Ch 1 Julieta/Agustín (Ch 2 will be Pepa/Félix)
Also on Ao3
Notes: I love the fic Tiles on the Roof by @avatarvyakara and this was very much inspired by that fic!! There’s a few hc they use that I wanted to play with so I started this. This is not a part of the TotR series though but if you haven’t read it, definitely do asap!!!! It’s a favorite of mine.
Julieta is not like her sister, she enjoys being around people but not being the center of attention. She enjoys a loud fiesta and a good salsa, but if given the choice she prefers spending time in her kitchen, cooking up old and new recipes or out in her garden, caring for her herbs.
Every morning after she has breakfast ready but before her mamá and hermanitos come down to eat, she spends some time in her garden, pulling weeds, checking on her herbs. She loves this time to herself. It helps her to focus on what needs to be done for the day.
It also occasionally gives her some time with one of her dear friends.
“Buenos días, Félix.” She says as she squats by a particularly sad looking herb. The sound behind her pauses and then she hears Félix chuckle as he jumps down beside her.
“Buenos días, Julieta, I was sure I would beat you out here this time.”
Julieta glances back at him and stands, wiping her hands on her apron, she glances up at her sister's balcony that Félix had just climbed down from and shakes her head.
“You’re going to have to make the weather princess wake up earlier to accomplish that.”
Félix laughs, “You and I both know that’s not happening.”
Julieta smiles and shakes her head. Félix has been a fixture in their life since they were preteens and he helped Bruno with some bullies. The triplets, who up to that point, really didn’t have friends outside of the three of them, practically adopted Félix into their circle. And although he was two years older than them, he didn’t seem to mind.
Now at twenty-three he was dating her hermana and spent many nights in her room, unbeknownst to their mamá. Although Julieta knew her mamá wasn’t that dense and probably had an idea what was happening under her roof. She adored Félix, the absolute charmer he was, and probably already had her middle child’s wedding planned.
“Would you like some breakfast? Mamá shouldn’t be down for another twenty minutes.” Julieta offers as she makes her way back through the garden.
“Absolutely.” Félix follows her inside and eyes the spread she has prepared for her family, “You’re too good to me,” he fixes a plate and sits to eat, moaning around his first bite, “Tell you what?” He says after swallowing, “Run away with me and I’ll give you lots of beautiful babies if you’ll promise to cook me breakfast every morning.”
Julieta laughs as she pulls her towel from her apron and swats him with it. She feels a blush crawl across her cheeks at his words even though he’s only teasing.
“And chance Pepa coming after the both of you with her lightning?” Bruno says, walking into the kitchen, “Trust me, amigo, it’s not pleasant.”
“Mmm.” Félix says in between bites, “You’re right. Besides there’s only one woman for me, and she’s that little spitfire you call hermana.”
Bruno tries to make himself a plate but Julieta uses the towel in her hands to swat at him.
“Ow!” She used a bit more snap with him then she did with Félix. Sister rights and all that.
“You know mamá likes to have family breakfast together.”
Bruno pouts and points his lips to Félix, “You let him eat.”
“Yeah because I caught him sneaking out of Pepa’s room and figured he needed breakfast before he started his day.”
Bruno shakes his head, “The day mamá catches you two is the day I will be far, far from here.”
Félix points his fork at Bruno, “You could help a brother out and have a vision to let us know if it happens.”
“Oh I don’t need to do that because it’s not if, just when. And my visions don’t give me dates so no point in wasting any of our time.”
Félix finishes his plate and carries it to the sink. He quickly cleans it and Julieta takes it from him, “Thank you again for breakfast.” He kisses her cheek and pats Bruno on the back, “See you both later.” And he skips out the back door just as their mamá steps into the kitchen.
“Was that Félix I heard?”
Julieta shares a look with Bruno before turning away from their mom to answer, she’s never been very good at lying but as long as she doesn’t have to make eye contact she can usually get away with little white lies. “Yes, he managed to hurt himself already and came by for a quick heal. He sends his apologies for interrupting our morning.”
“Next time tell him he’s welcome to stay for breakfast. I’m sure Pepa would have enjoyed seeing him.”
“Who?” Pepa has just walked in and looks exhausted as she braids her hair. Bruno widens his eyes and Julieta gives her the smallest shake of her head.
“Oh Félix was here, dear.” Alma presses a kiss to Pepa’s cheek and pats her other one, “You must have had a good night's rest, the sun is shining bright already.”
Pepa’s eyes go a bit dreamy as she hums, “Yes. It was a good night mamá.”
Julieta and Bruno both practically choke on their laughter and Pepa throws them a dirty look.
***
“Guess who?”
Julieta gasps at the voice and spins, dragging her sister who had been arm and arm with her, around too. Pepa cries out in protest but Julieta pays her no mind as her eyes land on Agustín Rojas. She hadn’t seen him in over seven months and she was bouncing in place as she looked him over. He looked taller. Much taller. And his hair was longer, the black ink of it looking so soft. She had to squeeze her hands together so she wouldn’t run her hands through it. The smile on his face was as wide as hers and he truly looked happy to see her.
“Well the city boy has returned.” Pepa says with a roll of her eyes.
Agustín chuckles, “Good to see you too Pepa.”
She raises her eyebrows, “I never said such a thing. You think you can just stroll back into town and steal my sister away for the summer?”
Julieta slaps at her sister, “Oh hush. When did you get back, Agustín?”
His cousin, Manuel approaches, “He literally got here, threw his bags in his room and was back out the door with barely an hola thrown our way. ‘That boy's city manners leaves much to be improved’ mamá said.”
“Agustín, you didn’t!” Julieta admonishes him and he sheepishly runs a hand through his hair.
“I may have. I’ll beg her forgiveness later.”
His hand brushes against hers and if it had been anyone else she would have paid it no mind but because it’s him, she shivers with the sensation, “May I?” He asks leaning closer and she nods, her eyes closing as his lips touch her cheek. She remembers how those lips felt on her own. And on her neck, her collarbone, her breast… her eyes snap open as he pulls back, greeting her sister in the same way.
“Mind if I join you ladies on your walk?”
“Yes.” Pepa says.
“Not at all.” Julieta says, hitting her sister, “Don’t you have somewhere to go?”
“No.” Pepa growls.
“I’m sure Félix wouldn’t mind a visit.” Julieta tries. She knows her sister is being purposely difficult. She doesn’t mind Agustín, she just doesn’t like how he occupies her time. Pepa isn’t used to not being the center of attention.
“Come on, Pepa, I’ll walk with you.” Manuel says, offering her his arm. Pepa huffs out a breath of annoyance but ignoring his arm, brushes past him to head in the opposite direction of her sister. Manuel glances back and winks at them as Julieta mouths a thank you
“Did you get my last letter?” Julieta asks as they walk past the florist and wave. She has her arm linked with his and she feels like she is floating although there’s a part of her that wants to find a dark corner and kiss the boy until they’re both breathless. If the looks he’s giving her tells her anything, he wants to do the same.
Last summer had been the first time they had taken their flirtation past secret kisses, and innocent hand touching. Last summer just before he was to return home she had visited him at his primos and the casa had been empty. An opportunity very rarely afforded them. They took full advantage of it and Julieta had left her virginity behind that evening.
“I did. I knew I would be coming to visit soon and so I thought my reply would be better in person.”
Julieta smiles up at him and his eyes linger on her lips as he lifts a hand to brush a flyaway hair from her cheek, “My memory does no justice to how beautiful you truly are.”
Julieta drops her chin down in embarrassment, they stop and he lifts her chin with a finger, his thumb brushing over the apple of her cheek, “Like your blush, I love how it brings out your freckles.”
“Stop.” She whispers in embarrassment but she’s equally pleased. She was afraid after finally having sex with her he might move on. Find someone in the city he could spend more time with instead of just a few short months of romance with her.
“Casita is empty.” She whispers, surprising even herself.
And so that's where they go, straight to her bedroom where she finally gets to run her fingers through his hair as his mouth moves over her chin and down her throat, nipping and sucking. Pulling moans from her as she does away with his shirt.
“I’ve missed you so much.” He whispers against her skin.
She can only moan in response as his hands bunch up her skirt. Soon they’re both naked and he lays her back gently on the bed. Her eyes are wide as he brackets her in his arms, his lips find hers as he presses his length against her slit. Her fingers did not do him justice these months he’s been gone. Nothing could compare to how he feels moving against her, with her.
“Agustín.” She gasps against his mouth and he slides against her again, “Please.” And he pulls away to smile down at her. Her thumb brushes the corner of his mouth, “I’ve missed your smile.”
He nips at her thumb, his pupils wide with desire as he shifts and takes himself in his hand to line up at her entrance, “Are you sure, corazón?” He asks and she bites her lip as she nods. Soon he’s slowly pressing inside her and they both moan at the initial shock of the intrusion. Seven months was a long time, especially when they only were able to do it twice before he left.
He takes his time sliding in as they hold one another’s gaze. When he’s finally completely sheathed, she feels so full and there’s nothing, absolutely nothing in this world that can compare to it.
“Juli, I need to move.”
Julieta lifts her head and bites his bottom lip between her teeth causing his hips to jerk, “Yes.” She gasps and he pulls out till she only feels just the tip of him before he thrusts back in, and repeats the motion much faster this time. Julieta moves with him, lifting her legs to feel him slide even deeper and they both gasp at the sensation it causes, “This is all I’ve thought about since I left. All I could think about was getting back to you. Kissing you, talking to you…” He drops his forehead to hers, his eyes closed tight. “being inside you.” Julieta closes her eyes and lifts her hips. She can feel her climax building but she’s not sure she’ll make it before he does. She can already tell he’s close.
“So you know how I wrote to you about the new job?” He’s lightly dragging his finger over her bare arm and she smiles as she nods. The sensation of just his finger has goosebumps all over her body, “They won’t let me take off the entire summer.”
Julieta shifts as the words penetrate through her fog, “So, how much time did you get?”
His finger stops as he sighs and she shifts to turn so she can meet his gaze, “Only two weeks.”
Julieta sits up and grabs a sheet to cover herself, “Two weeks?” She whispers, her chest feels heavy with his words, “You didn’t think to tell me this earlier? Before?” And she points at her sheet covered body.
Agustin shifts to sit up, his eyes full of guilt. “I’m sorry, I wanted to tell you but I didn’t want to ruin our reunion.”
“You mean you wanted to get laid first before dropping this bomb in my lap.” She says and he flinches.
“No Julieta,” he reaches a hand to her arm but she pulls away, “No. I didn’t…I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I just, I’ve missed you so much and …” he runs a hand through his hair, his hair that’s a complete mess from her own hands running through it while he thrusted inside of her again and again, “I guess I wanted a moment for us before I ruined it. Julieta, please.”
And as his voice breaks with those last words, she reaches for him and he willingly goes into her arms.
Tears drop from her eyes and he wipes them away with his thumb, “Please don’t hate me.” He whispers.
Julieta shakes her head, because that’s not even possible. He’s been such a big part of her life the past five years and as they’ve grown to care for one another, she always knew heartbreak was in their future, especially as they’ve grown to be more than friends. But she’s always known, his life is in the city and hers is here in Encanto. She’s tried not to think what that means for them but often on those long nights when he’s gone, she’s cried herself to sleep knowing it can’t last.
“I could never hate you, Agustín, surely you know that.” She wraps her arms around his neck and he places his head on her chest, his own arms around her torso. She sighs, “What are we going to do?”
“I don’t know.” He whispers.
He’s helping fasten the back of her dress when he brushes her hair aside and kisses the back of her neck then says the words she’s always dreamed of him saying, “Come with me.”
Julieta lifts her head and spins around, “What?” She realizes in that moment she’s also dreaded those same words.
“Come to the city with me? To visit.” He’s growing excited with the idea, his eyes dancing as he starts to truly imagine it, “You can meet my parents and I could show you around. There’s a park I know you would love and oh. My abuela, she’s going to absolutely love you. She has a herb garden like yours. You two could talk about herbs for hours.” He takes her hands between his, pure joy on his face at the idea, “Julieta please. Come back with me.”
“I… I don’t know. I’ve never left Encanto before.”
Agustín smiles, “We could go back before my two weeks are up, so we could spend the time together. My friends would get to meet you. They think I’ve made you up completely.”
“They do not.” She laughs.
“No, they do.” He shrugs and turns her back around so he can finish fastening her dress, “I mean, can you blame them, I talk about you all of the time but I have no pictures of you and I can’t tell them exactly where you live. They try to set me up with their neighbors and cousins and always joke “but you’ll have to get rid of h your made up girl.”
“They try to set you up? Do you…” Julieta has always been afraid to bring up if he dates outside of their summers together. She keeps her eyes down as she slides on her shoes and asks the question, “Do you have a girlfriend back in the city?”
Agustín is sitting on the bed, putting on his own shoes and has to reach to grab her arm and tug her between his legs. He looks up at her and lifts a hand to her face, “No.” he says and her heart beats faster at the admission, “It’s always been just you. There’s never been another and there never will be as long as you’ll have me.”
Julieta sighs happily at his words and runs her hands through his still messy hair, “But we go so long without seeing one another.”
His arms wrap around her waist and he tugs her closer. He lays his cheek on her chest and hums, “I would wait years for only one night with you if that’s how it had to be.”
“You’re such a romantic.” She teases but knows that’s one of the many reasons she loves him. “Did you bring Pepa any new romance books?”
“I did.”
She runs her hands through his hair for a bit longer as he holds her in silence and she thinks about what he asked her. Leaving the Encanto is not impossible. It’s not easy, but if one has permission from her mamá and the town elders then it’s not out of the question.
She’s never thought about leaving, she loves her home and is content in staying there. But maybe a short visit would be nice. She definitely would love meeting Agustin’s family and seeing all the places he talks about. See a bit of the world outside of hers.
“Okay.” She whispers, “I’ll go.”
Agustín pulls back with a jerk, his eyes wide, “Really?”
Julieta smiles down at him and nods.
