Rest now (Yandere Madrigal family x writing fatigued! reader)
Tumblr media
(sorry for not uploading lately, I just haven't been that sure on what to write, also thank you to @thefieryphoenix for requesting once again!)
The passing couple of days you had only been writing, you were exhausted. But you couldn't stop, you needed to finish this book.
The Madrigal family watched worryingly, as you walked down the stairs. They knew how you had been denying your self care, they really wanted to help you but you would hiss, every time they tried. "Are you ok, mi Amor?" Camilo asked, his voice filled with concern "Yes I'm fine, I already told you that!" You replied, snapping at him. They could tell how you hadn't been getting any sleep at all. Ugh, how those purple bags drooped under your eyes.
All they wanted was for you to take care of yourself, and be in good health. But you didn't want to, you were only focused on your writing and that was it, maybe getting some food or a drink every once in a while as well. You went into the kitchen, quickly grabbing a cup of water. Then returning to your room.
You continued scribbling on your page, (I don't know what they used to write back then, so don't come for me) jotting down your story, like you already had been for the past hours of the day.
Some time had passed, now it was dinner. You did feed yourself and drink, but you never cleaned your self or slept. You felt all the Madrigals stares on you, but you didn't care what they thought, they didn't know how much this meant to you. After you had finished our dinner, you climbed out of your chair, then walking back to your room.
But, you never made it, because you suddenly felt dizzy. You felt, tired. Did Julieta drug the food? Unfortunately for you she had. Your body made a loud thump as you fell onto the floor.
Your eyes slowly opened, your vision was slightly blurry, and you felt dazed. You then heard whispers of the Madrigal family follow. "W-what, where am I?! Let me go!" You demanded, while also thrashing in the ropes, "sorry Amor, but we can't do that." Pepa replied calmly. "Y-you don't understand! I n-need to finish this book!" "stop worrying about that book doll, you need rest" Dolores told you. "N-n-no! No rest! I need to finish it!" you screamed, "you are staying here Estimada/Estimado, whether you like it or not" Julieta said coldly. You gulped.
Suddenly, Julieta came over to you, and shoved a arepa in your mouth. Forcing you to chew. "Rest now" Julieta told you gently, you eyes slowly started to shut, making your world turn black.
(make sure you take care of yourself no matter what!)

Being Julieta and Pepa's partner would include
Tumblr media
You being confused as to why both Madrigal sisters are flirting with you
You trying so hard to decide which one of them you want to date, only for them to say they don't want you to choose, they'll share
You being younger than them (you decide how much) meaning they see you as the "baby" of the relationship
You having to learn what they like and don't because they're so different from each other
You going to Julieta for comfort, kisses and wise words
You going to Pepa for laughs and cuddles.
You being in the middle of their fights and having to help them be on good terms again
Using your body to protect Julieta from Pepa's lighting when she's mad at her sister
Keeping Pepa safe in your house when Julieta has murder in her eyes
Them trying not to show their jealous when you're busy with the other
Pepa loves when you ask her for a little rain so you can play with the mud
Cooking with Juli! Or more like keeping her entertained while she does all the work
You are forbidden to cook with Pepa tho. Casita banned you for a week the last time you almost burned It down
Choosing who you will sleep with is a nightmare.
Letting Pepa play with your hair whenever she's anxious.
Julieta playing with your fingers/hands when she's nervous
Alma being suspicious of you at first but quickly loving you as another daughter
Being besties with Bruno!
The town's people thinking you're cheating on Pepa (the first one you kissed in public) with her siblings
You and Julieta finding funny that people think you're dating Bruno too.
Bruno is too busy trying not to be murdered by Pepa to laugh tho.
Having to deal with people's questions and the infamous "who are you going to marry"
The sisters finding cute how different you act with each of them
Against what one could think, you're actually the responsible one when you're with Pepa, always keeping her from killing people and calming her down before the tempest comes
With Julieta you're just another child. You're always getting into trouble, making silly jokes to make her laugh or getting her out of her comfort zone.
She suspects you're trying to see how much It would take to give her a heart attack
Valentine's day is a fucking nightmare. You have two girlfriends to get gifts for and they're so different and of course both of them have their own plans to spend the day with you but you can't just ignore one to go with the other and ahhhhhhhh
Pepa getting drunk the most between the three of you and Julieta and you having to take her back to Casita
Pepa and you trying to prank Juli but she always knows
The best thing about having two girlfriends is that when one of them Is too busy to spend time cuddling and kissing you, you can always go to the other.
The hardest thing is that when them both are free you have two needy goddesses fighting for your attention
It's tiring but you love them.

But anyways hope you are having a great day or night and love your writing btw!(srry for my bad typing!)
Mami: Pepa x Fem Reader (platonic)
Summary: You finally call Pepa, Mami after being her daughter for a few years...
Genre: Fluff!
Notes: I'm sorry this took so long! My motivation to write is still there, it has just died down a bit.
Warnings: happy tears from Pepa, really angsty backstory because I can't write pure sugar like this,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You sat up straight in your bed, a cool sweat running down your face. It was another nightmare from before. Before the Madrigals, namely Pepa and Félix, had taken you in. Dolores had heard what was happening to you at your house and told her family. They came to your home, and whisked you away and now, you were a Madrigal.
You had a gift and everything. You could teleport, which made your new older brother Camilo very interested in doing stuff with you. Namely, pranks and stealing food and playing jokes on people.
Even though you were young when the Madrigals saved you, you still had scars, mental and physical, from when you lived with your father. He would come home drunk and irritated which did not bode well for you.
Your nightmares brought you back to those years that you tried so desperately to block out. You wiped the sweat from your face and sat on the edge of your bed. You teleported into the bathroom and splashed some water in your face.
"You're alright. You're not there anymore. You have a family that cares about you now."
Your words to yourself helped, but they couldn't drive away the ever-persistent thoughts in your head.
But what if they don't? What if they just barely tolerate me and took out of pity? Do they even do that or are they just waiting for me to move out?
You heard a knock at the door and a familiar voice.
"Y/N? Are you alright in there? I heard the sink going and you're the only other one awake?"
It was Pepa. You could tell from the water seeping under the door and into the bathroom that she was drizzling.
"Yeah, Pepi. I'm alright. I just had a nightmare."
Your voice was shaky and you were honestly on the verge of tears at this point. With the combination of your nightmare and Pepa coming to check on you, it was too much.
"Another one? That's the third one this week. Are you sure you're alright, mija?"
You broke down and opened the door to see Pepa in her nightgown, her braided, red hair wet from the cloud over her head. She took one look at your face and immediately pulled you into a hug. You hugged her back, not caring about the drizzling cloud that hung over your heads. Your head fit into the crook of her neck and you sobbed into her shoulder until you were able to speak coherent sentences.
"I'm sorry, Mami. I didn't mean to wake you up. I got your dress all wet too."
You mumbled quietly, and for a moment of shocked silence, you thought Pepa didn't hear you. She grabbed you by the shoulders and locked eyes with you.
"Did you just call me Mami?"
There were tears in Pepa's eyes and you immediately went to apologize.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have-"
Pepa pulled you into an even tighter hug.
"I've been wanting you to call me that for years. Oh, and don't worry about the dress. It was wet anyway."
You could hear the small, lilting laugh in her voice.
"You're not mad?"
"Why in the world would I be mad, mija?"
"I'm not Dolores, Camilo, or Antonio. I don't belong here."
"Of course you do. You are my mija, even if you are of different blood. I still love you just as much as I love them."
"Really?"
"Really."
Nightmare (Yandere Madrigal triplets x reader)
Tumblr media
Tw: Murder, kidnapping, blood, force, unhealthy obsession, yandere themes.
You walked with a smile on your face, on your way to the Madrigal house. The triplets had invited you to sleep over at their place for the night, you obviously said yes, you couldn't say no. They were your friends and you loved them.
You twisted the knob to casita, letting yourself in. But then a grim smell slapping you in the face, you couldn't help but squeeze your nose in disgust.
'What was that smell?'
You decided to explore where the source of the smell was coming from, walking, you suddenly stepped on something squishy. You looked down to see one of the Madrigal family's corpses, looking around you noticed every Madrigal member was dead. But three body's were missing, Julietas, Pepas, and Brunos.
As you froze, you then felt something hit you in the head. Knocking you out.
Your eyes slowly fluttered open, only black to be seen in your point of vision. You attempted to move your hands, but noticed it was tied down, so were your ankles.
"I think their awake," You heard a very famillar say, then another two chimed in. "I agree."
Suddenly you felt someone untying the blind fold that squeezed around your head, finally letting your eyes see light. You then saw Julieta, Pepa, and Bruno. Except, they were covered in blood all over their body's.
"Welcome home dear!" Julieta squealed. "This isn't my home!" You replied with a scared tone tracing your voice, "Oh but it is now mi vida!" Pepa replied exicited, "mhm!" Bruno agreeded.
"Why are you guys doing this?! What even happened to you!" You cried.
"Because we love you estimado/estimada!" Julieta said loudly.
"But this isn't love! This is murder, this is wrong! Let me go, let me go now!" You screamed, also demanded.
"I'm afraid we can't do that mi amor," Pepa darkly told you.
"Yeah your ours now," Julieta also said darkly.
"Accept out love please mi amor!" Bruno sweetly asked.
"I can't not like this...I-I'm sorry."
"Well I guess we'll all have to force you," Pepa said.
From here was a nightmare, they constantly punished you, forcing you to do whatever they wanted...You were theirs now, and you couldn't escape, even if you tried...
Why Pepa?! (Part 1)
> warnings: none
Tumblr media
Groaning, Bruno woke up from his slumber and sat up, making the thick book drop to the ground.
“Ugh... ” Bruno shuddered as he caught a glimpse of the book. “I'm returning you today, how will I ever look at Y/N's eyes after that vision?” He facepalmed.
“Hola Bruno! Go sit, breakfast will be served soon!” Julieta greeted happily.
Bruno rolled his eyes at his sister's giddiness early in the morning. For sure she and that boy, Agustin, spent the night with each other again.
“Brunito.”
“Máma.” Bruno gave a nod to his mother and sat down.
“I have a favor to ask of you.” Alma started as Julieta was handing out plates with food.
“And that is?” Bruno answered after thanking Julieta for the food.
“It is about Pepa.”
The said girl choked on her arepa. Julieta, being the eldest, hurriedly gave Pepa a glass of water.
“Máma! I thought we agreed to not do this?!” Pepa thundered.
“You did, I didn't.” Alma shooed away the forming clouds.
“As I was saying,” Alma gave Pepa a glare. “Since Bruno has been enjoying his whole day at the bookshop, he can gladly have Pepa go with him and maybe get her some cooking books.”
Pepa groaned as she rolled her eyes. “I don't need to learn how to cook! We have Julieta for goodness sake!” She pointed at her sister in front of her.
“Julieta needs rest Pepa. She can't cook for us and the town every single day.” Alma retorted calmly.
Pepa scoffed and looked at Bruno. “But why me?! Why can't it be Bruno?”
“The only time I'm entrusting the food to Bruno will be the time that I am not living anymore.”
Jingling was all you heard as you entranced yourself with the book you were reading. You didn't even here Bruno call your name until he dropped the thick book he borrowed in front of you.
“Uh... Hey there Y/N!” Bruno greeted calmly. “Do you have- uh- cooking books by any chance?”
Blinking, you bit your lip to stop yourself from laughing. “Oh! Of course, it's right over there! Far left, straight and then right and then left.”
“What?” You rolled your eyes at Bruno's decreasing sense of direction.
“Follow me, Bruno... and Pepa.” You raised your eyebrow but didn't dare to ask.
Walking towards the Home Economics section, you let Bruno and Pepa pick their books before escorting them to the reading area.
“You can read here and then just check out there–” You pointed to your spot earlier. “if you want to buy the book.” Pepa gave you a smile and thanked you before starting to read.
After you left, Bruno poked Pepa and asked, “So, why are you blushing?” He gave Pepa a smirk. Forgetting his vision.
“I'm not blushing, Brunito.” Pepa scrunched up her nose and elbowed Bruno.
Bruno yelped, attracting your attention. You saw Bruno rubbing his sides and laughed. This attracted Pepa's attention and made the girl blush.
Bruno rolled his eyes and closed his book before walking towards you and leaving Pepa in the reading area.
“I'll leave for a few moments, I just need to get money from mi máma to buy Pepa the book she's reading.”
“Sure, take your time.” You shooed Bruno away.
You smiled as you watched Bruno tried not to trip down and attract any of the townspeople's attention.
“So you like my brother?” A voice beside you asked.
You jumped and looked at Pepa, “Just as a brother, why do you ask?” You asked as you leaned again the counter.
Pepa's eyes went wide as you leaned next to her and stuttered, “Uh– just you know– uhm–”
Laughing, you shook your head and gave Pepa a kiss on the cheek. “No need to be jealous, mi vida.” Pepa couldn't help but to blush deeply.
As you were looking at each other's eyes, a thump of something huge made both of you jump.
“Bruno!” You closed your eyes after looking at the book that Bruno dropped. It was a book of your very own poems, he borrowed it to read to his rats.
“Uh... Based on you kissing my sister's cheek, do we still have to pay for the cook book?”
Chance Encounters (Pepa x Fem!Reader)
Tumblr media
My first crack at a Pepa fic. I definitely struggled with parts of this but hopefully no one notices the weaker areas.
Based on the prompt: “From behind I thought that you were my relative, which is why I tapped you on your shoulder, but honestly you’re much hotter.”
Pt 1 of 8
Pt 2
I think this will be roughly 9 parts.
I’m thinking the reader and triplets are in their early twenties. Somewhere between 20-23.
As always I am not a native Spanish speaker, so if I butchered a sentence or word let me know so I may correct it.
Hope you enjoy!
“Bruno, I really don’t want to be in your rat shows.”  Pepa said as she walked down the street with her brother. She was soaking wet from finishing her chore of watering the crops.
“They aren’t rat shows! They are rat telenovelas!” He announced as he followed half a step behind his sister.
“Either way, I don’t want to do the voice of a rat queen.” She said with a pout.
An ideal day for Pepa wasn’t playing with rats, and no matter how much she loved her brother she couldn’t bring herself to touch them.
“Pepa watch out!” Bruno suddenly shouted. Pepa froze on the spot and frantically looked around. She didn’t see anything that would cause Bruno to panic.
“What’s wrong?!”
“I had a vision yesterday. You are going to get hurt here!” The boy cried out. Pepa glanced around again.
There was no one on the streets that posed a threat. People were coming and going in and out of different buildings. There was no roughhousing children or arguing couples.
“Bruno I think-“
Pepa was cut off as the door she stood near swung open with force and connected with her face. The redhead howled in pain as she gripped her face and doubled over. Bruno rushed to her side and helped her stand. Her cloud appeared and darkened in an instant.
“Dios mio what did I do?!” The young man who exited the shop proclaimed.
“Lo siento Señorita I didn’t mean to hurt you!” He frantically cried and dug through his pockets and presented the girl with a handkerchief.
Pepa was quick to grab it and hold it to her nose that was pouring blood. The weather began to shift as she winced in pain trying to stop the bleeding.
“I know! I know!” She said, ushering the man back.
No one would be foolish enough to dare hurt a member of the Madrigal family on purpose. Even her brother who was often ridiculed for his prophecies was never touched in retaliation.
“Pepi, let's go find Julieta.” Bruno said softly to his sister. She nodded in agreement and cast a final look at the man, a boom of thunder coming from her cloud, before walking off with her brother, handkerchief pressed firmly to her face.
—-
“I think I see her.” Bruno said pointing ahead.
“I don’t know how you see anything at that height.” Pepa said, angry that Bruno warned her that she’d be hurt but not HOW she’d be hurt. If she had known she’d get hit with a door she wouldn’t have stopped where she did!
“Hey! No need to be mean to me just because you got hurt.”
“Because you scared me! You could have offered a few more details like THE DOOR.” Pepa exclaimed, but looked off in the direction Bruno pointed.
“You know I think you’re right.” Pepa said, peering through the crowd. The wind died down at the sight of the healer.
Up ahead you saw her. Blue dress, slender frame, dark hair tied up in a messy bun.
“Let’s go.” Pepa said and the two triplets pushed through the crowds.
“Hey Juli, look what your brother did.” Pepa said and put her hand on Julieta’s shoulder.
Julieta wasn’t who turned around.
Pepa was frozen in place when you turned. From a distance you were a dead ringer for the eldest triplet but up close you were far more stunning. Your hair was much darker and thicker, and your eyes sparkled a brilliant amber color. Your face was decorated with subtle freckles that reminded her of stars, and your lips were plumper. Your face and hands were covered in charcoal and the sketchbook you were drawing in was abandoned on the ground as you stared at the middle triplet.
“Oh Señorita Y/L/N it’s good to see you. Sorry from a distance we thought you were Julieta.” Bruno said. Pepa whipped her head around towards Bruno. He knew you?!
“It’s completely fine. I’ve been called a lot of things but never a Madrigal.” You said and laughed. Pepa could have melted on the spot at the sound.
“What are you working on?” Bruno asked as you bent down to retrieve the sketchbook.
“Just some life drawings.” You replied and offered him the book. Inside were all sorts of drawings, mostly of people in town. People shopping, people talking, performers.
“Oh I remember this night.” Bruno said stopping on a page. Pepa, who was still holding the handkerchief to her nose, peaked over to see a drawing of her and Julieta dancing.
“It was a fun fiesta.” You replied, glancing at the redhead who had remained silent the entire time.
Alma Madrigal was no stranger to a party. The woman would find any reason to host a gathering. Whether it was for a birthday or a good harvest she was always ready to show off her home and family. Plus she loved a good drink.
That particular night you had been sitting off to the side, sketchbook clutched in your arms as you looked around for Bruno. Parties weren’t really your thing but you wouldn’t be the only foolish person to miss a Madrigal party. Your eye caught a flash of red and you couldn’t help but stare in awe at the middle triplet as she danced around the room. Before you realized it you had opened your sketchbook and began to sketch her, and ultimately her sister.
“Are you okay?” You asked Pepa, taking a step closer to her to examine her face. She frantically nodded and winced a little at the pressure from her nose.
“Dios mio I forgot we were searching for Julieta! Come Pepita, she must be here somewhere. Sorry for interrupting you Y/N!” Bruno said and grabbed her wrist and began to pull.
Pepa stumbled a bit and continued to stare at you as Bruno pulled her away. You smiled and waved at Pepa while she was dragged away and couldn’t help the pink color that tinted your cheeks.
can you make a part 2 of “You’re lucky I like you” ? :)<33 i really loved it!!
“You’re lucky I like you” (part 2)
genre: fluff
pepa x fem reader
part 1
yes yes yes!! i was stumbling through my requests and saw this and i had the cutest idea. enjoy :)
Tumblr media
You woke up the next day with a smile on your face and thoughts of that special girl swirled through your mind. As you got ready, you couldn’t help but blush at the thought of Pepa yesterday and the way she left your shop. Had she really meant what she said? Everytime you looked at yourself in the mirror, you kept talking to yourself as if it were Pepa. You looked like an idiot sure, but you were so excited to go get some coffee with her and didn’t wanna mess anything up.
You looked at your watch and and let out a wince at the time it displayed— 7:55 am. If you didn’t leave your house right now you wouldn’t be on time. So you quickly put on your black espadrille shoes and quickly tied the ribbon around your ankles before you grabbed your gift for Pepa and walked out the door.
Scurrying over to the local cafe, you kept checking your watch to make sure you were going to be on time. You were also nervous because this was your first date with the woman! You still hadn’t forgotten who she was and how important her familial status is.
Your nerves faded away for a moment when you saw Pepa sitting at one of the tables outside. The sun was shining brightly, the birds chirped, and the weather was a little chilly. It was perfect. Your heart started to skip a little now because well, she knew that you liked her and this was technically an informal date. You checked your watch and sighed, shaking away all your fears and doubts. It was 7:59.
Finally walking over to her, the woman smiled when she noticed you had arrived. Her face looked like the sun, so happy and bright when she noticed you. Her beaming smile made your knees weak and the way she looked at you made you want to melt. It was impossible to frown when she was around and it was like she always knew what to say. Seriously, it was only the morning and you were already thinking about her like this!
When you got close enough, Pepa got up and greeted you. She brought you in for a tight, heartfelt hug.
“Hello my sweet Y/N. Good morning” she said, voice filled with a hint of flirt.
The way she slid her hands down your arms after she hugged you drove you insane. You couldn’t hide the light blush that crept up on your cheeks.
“Hello and good morning sunshine” you responded with the same energy.
The woman laughed and tried her best to shrug it off and not make it too obvious she was a blushing mess as well. A happy blushing mess.
As you two sat down, the both of you kept making that tension filled eye contact, catching each other glancing at one another or talking at the same time. You guys were both blushing messes and it was cute.
“I actually got you something” you stated, reaching for the gift you got for Pepa.
“Really?!?!” she exclaimed “You got a gift for me?!”
You could only laugh and nod as you pulled the gift out of your pocket.
“Well of course” you said “Now close your eyes and hold out your wrist for me.”
The redhead happily obliged and closed her eyes excitedly as she held out her wrist to you.
You carefully put the handmade bracelet you had created for her around her tiny wrist. Unhooking the clasp, you put the cold metal on her wrist and hooked it together. Her pale skin and the bracelet complimented each other perfectly. The charms kept clicking together and for some reason it made you so excited and really hoped that she was going to like it. You brushed your fingers along Pepa’s skin very slowly and she had noticed, her breath hitching as she relaxed under your touch. After examining it once more to make sure it was perfect, you told her to open her eyes.
“Okay you can open your eyes now.”
As the woman opened her eyes, she couldn’t hold back her excitement when she saw what a beautiful bracelet you had given her. It was a golden charm bracelet with each charm representing something different about her. One charm was the sun, another was a cloud, one was a raindrop, a heart, and a needle and thread.
“Wow!” Pepa exclaimed “I love it!”
You watched her as that beautiful smile of hers flashed and those big green eyes filled with adoration. You could tell she really was greatful. Her little phrases about your gift to her were really adorable too.
“Oh my god look at the sun! And the clouds- and the raindrop too! And the heart aww!” She looked so happy and held her wrist up as she looked at all the charms.
“And is this… a needle and thread? What does this mean?” the woman paused, asking innocently as she studied it.
“Well…” you began, gently taking the woman’s wrist and softly running your thumb over the charm “I hope you don’t think it’s too cheesy, but the charm represents how we got to this point. The weather charms are how I met you and the needle and thread charm represents how our date came to be” you stated proudly.
Pepa’s confused face changed to one with raised eyebrows, teary eyes, and a happy frown. You could’ve sworn it started to feel a little hotter because you felt a wave of heat on your neck and back.
“You did all this…for me?!?”
“Of course I did. Anything for you.”
“I really don’t know what to say… Thank you Y/N. I’ll cherish this forever.”
Pepa’s words made you feel like there were literal explosions going off inside you. She looked so happy and took your hand that held hers and brought it close to her lips, planting a soft kiss on it. Her emerald eyes looked at you with so much love and warmth, you were about to evaporate right there. She brought her wrist close to her chest and held it to her heart, a smile plastered on her face as she kissed the bracelet you gave her, especially the needle and thread charm.
“I’m sorry if I seem a little embarrassing… I’m just so happy someone would really do this for me.”
You laughed in response to her statement “And I’m so happy you like it Pepa” you said, taking her hand and interlocking fingers with her “I really like you after all.”
If Pepa couldn’t control herself before, she definitely couldn’t now. As soon as your words registered in her mind, she started wildly blushing and tried so hard to look you in the eyes without wanting to melt at the sight of you.
“I’m so lucky to have you Y/N. I guess I really like you too. And I like you even more now that you did this for me” she joked as she squeezed your hand in return.
At this point, the both of you were blushing messes. If you guys couldn’t even hold yourselves together for a love confession, how the hell were you two gonna kiss?!?! You two then sat there for a few seconds, holding hands and waiting for the other to say something first. A silence had surrounded you two, but it wasn’t awkward. It was the type that made you want to listen to what the other was going to say next because you both wanted to know more about the other and what made them who they were.
“So…” you began, trying to dissipate your embarrassment a little “How’s your dress?”
You noticed she had been wearing it again and it looked better and on her today for some reason. The way the ruffles in her dress blew in the wind and the way her dress flowed all the way down to her legs made you feel so attracted to her, like a magnet. Watching her rest her head on her hand as she eyed you mischievously made you want to make a move right then and there. Of course, there was still doubt and you didn’t want to move too fast but those green eyes that kept flicking from your lips to your eyes definitely did not go unnoticed.
The woman glanced at your neck where your red glasses hung and looked back up at your eyes to answer your question. She loved how they complimented your blushing face.
“Oh!” she began with a smile, snapping herself out of her thoughts “It’s great” she looked down at her shoulder and dusted it off lightly “I love it.”
That adoring look came back on her face and she was making it so obvious. You liked that though. A women that was bold and knew what she wanted.
“I’m glad” you responded “If you need anything in the future know that you can always come to me.”
By this time, you two were still holding hands and you finally let go when the waitress came to take your orders for coffee. Pepa watched as you grabbed the glasses that hung on your shirt collar and put them on to see the menu. After you guys chose what you wanted and waited for your coffee to arrive, you talked about nonsense over nonsense and laughed at everything the other was saying. It was like you were 12 again and had a cute little date with your crush that made you get tons of butterflies in your stomach.
“Y/N?” Pepa asked as the waitress walked away.
“Hm?” you responded, folding the glasses back and putting them back on your shirt collar.
“Do you have bad eyesight? Is that why you use your glasses to see the menu? I mean these letters are huge, how can you not see them?”
You chuckled in response to the woman’s curiosity “Yeah.. my eyesight isn’t the best so I need glasses to see tiny stitches when I’m sewing or small letters on paper.”
You then took your glasses and handed them to her “Wanna see through my eyes? Give it a try.”
Pepa hesitated for a moment and then took the glasses and gently placed them on her face. You watched her hands drift along the plastic as she delicately placed them over her eyes. Her curly bangs went over the glasses a little and she looked like a nerd. She was so adorable.
When she looked through the oval lens, her eyes widened “Wow everything is so zoomed in! This is so cool!”
You couldn’t stop laughing as she looked around, mesmerized because everything was way bigger.
“You look so pretty from here” she said, not even thinking about the words she used “You don’t notice how pretty something really is until you see it close up!”
You could only bite your lip and hold back a smile at this as you watched her have fun with your glasses.
“Oh?” you said “Is that so?”
“Yes. You’re the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen.”
You rolled your eyes adoringly “Ahh Pepa you flatter me too much. But you’re the pretty one here.”
Pepa shook her head as she took off your glasses and gave them back to you “Liar. Look at you, you’re gorgeous.”
That soft expression she held really made you believe her for a moment. Before you could let her words get to you too much, your coffee arrived.
When the waiter passed you and Pepa your coffee, the smell of vanilla filled your nose as you felt the hot steam on your chin. It gave you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside and the pretty plant design that they made in your coffee really impressed you too. It was way too hot to take a sip though. So you just decided to put some sugar in it and wait until it cooled down a little. But Pepa had different plans.
When you looked up at her, she had taken a big sip of the steaming hot coffee, without even flinching. You watched as she completely submerged her top lip in it and you held back a gasp when she didn’t wince because it was too hot. When she pulled away from the cup and placed it down, a mustache made of coffee cream was left behind on her lips and she looked so cute and funny. Maybe a little too funny.
You laughed when you saw her little coffee mustache and you almost spilled your own cup when you smacked the table. Your laughter was totally contagious because as soon as you smiled, Pepa mirrored your actions and she did the same. You held your stomach as you doubled over, tears filling your eyes as you started to feel a little dizzy from laughing so hard. Pepa laughed along with you in the beginning to be polite, but she really didn’t get what was so funny. She just sat there and watched you, her eyebrows raised and eyes wide as she held her warm coffee cup with both her hands. A mini frown was plastered on her face out of total confusion.
“Y/N love, what’s so funny?” Pepa asked.
“Nothing it’s just that I-” you began. Looking up at her, all you saw was her cream colored mustache and those concerned eyes that looked at you like you were insane. And god did you find that funny. Your cackle filled her ears and she found herself smiling a little because you were suddenly so laid back from your usual mature self.
“I’m sorry it’s just that- AHAHAHAHA”
“It’s that what? Do I have something on my face?” she asked, getting a little frustrated.
You nodded and pointed to your upper lip to show what you meant as you tried to wipe your tears away. Pepa looked down and touched her lip with her hand, the fluffy foam of her makeshift mustache fizzing and dissolving on her finger.
“You- you have a mustache HAHAHAHA” you continued.
She smiled as soon as she realized what the hell was so funny and started laughing with you too. The people around you began staring and were wondering what the hell was so funny this early in the morning but it didn’t matter. It was funny to the two of you and that was enough.
Finally when the sounds of both your cackles died down, your stomachs hurt so badly and the tears that escaped your eyes were splattered on your leg.
“God” you said wiping a tear “I haven’t laughed that hard in a while.”
“In a while?!?! I’ve never laughed that hard… ever!” Pepa responded.
“Really?!?!” you asked, shocked “You’ve got to come out with me more! I promise you I’m laughing all the time when I’m not at work.”
Pepa snickered “Really? Looks like we have to go out on more dates then” she said, closing her eyes innocently as she took another sip of her coffee. She made sure to lick her lips clear of any foam before she brought her cup down.
A light blushed crept up on your cheeks after Pepa’s statement. You fidgeted with the sugar packets you meant to put in your coffee 10 minutes ago before you started laughing.
“Yeah. It looks like we should then.”
You bit your lip as you looked away in a panic and bounced your leg. Was this how liking someone was really like? You had a crush before, but it was never like this. Your feelings for Pepa were stronger than ones you had for your past crushes.
You guys spent about another hour talking about nonsense and your plans for the future. The both of you learned a lot about each other actually, and it was quite enjoyable. There were some things that you learned about her that shocked you like that she loved to dance and other not shocking things like that she couldn’t cook. She was also shocked to learn some things about you as well, each thing you talked about with her spiraling into another one.
As time passed by and the sun rose higher and higher in the sky, you tried to savor every minute you had with her until she had to go do her job and you had to do yours. Before you knew it, it was 10am which meant that it was the start of both your days. You frowned when she mentioned that she had to go work and she frowned when you agreed and said that you had to go open up shop.
The both of you hesitantly got up from your seats, your legs aching from the amount of time you sat for. Your arms longed to be wrapped around her and your lips longed to be touching hers as well.
“Here” you began, pulling your wallet out of your pocket “I’ll pay.”
Pepa shook her head “Too late. I already paid.”
“What! When?!”
“Before you got here.”
“No Pepa I cant accept that that’s so-”
“Consider it a thank you for the gift” she cut you off, shaking her bracelet in front of you. She then held it close to her heart and looked down at it for a moment.
“I love it. A lot. Trust me what I did for you is nothing compared to the impact you’ve had on me today with this. Thank you.”
You smiled, stepping away from the table as you took Pepa’s hands and held them in front of you.
“Anything for you, my señorita” you said, kissing her soft knuckles gently, the charms on her bracelet in her hand colliding with each other and making little noises.
It was such a small thing but it made you really happy. To see that she was enjoying it and the mere sound of it clinking together made a rainbow form over her head.
Pepa’s face turned into a soft smile as she tried to hold some tears back. How had she gotten so lucky? It was only the first date and it felt like you two were married.
“Well…” the woman began “I hate to stop the party but I have to go to the fields for work.”
“Yeah, I’ve got to go open up my shop now too. I have a lot of customers waiting on things” you responded, squeezing her hands a little and savoring them one last time, wondering when you were going to see her again.
Pepa noticed this and made an impulsive decision. She slipped her hands out of yours and grabbed you by your cheeks, pulling you in for a kiss.
You weren’t even prepared for this. The way she grabbed you was so random and sudden, you hadn’t realized what happened until your lips were already on hers and the smell of lemon lingered in your nose. Her eyelashes tickled your cheeks and her curly bangs blew over your forehead with the soft breeze. Her lips were so incredibly thin and soft and they tasted like vanilla. When you kissed back, Pepa tucked a strand of hair behind your ear and you placed your hands on her waist, bringing her closer to you. When she finally broke the kiss, she rested her forehead on yours for a moment before she quickly placed a dozen kisses all over your face. Your response to this was laughter and she wanted to keep doing it forever. She grabbed your hands and intertwined them with hers, bringing them close to her heart before struggling to let them go as she backed away.
“Until next time, my seamstress.”
You nodded, eyes wide and face beet red at the events that just occurred. You grazed your lips with your fingertips in shock at what just happened.
“Mhm” you nodded “Until next time, my weather girl” you said, waving at her absentmindedly.
Pepa laughed and waved back before she turned around, her braid whipping around and settling as she skipped to the cornfields. She kissed the bracelet you gave her once more and let out a happy sigh as she wondered what the future would bring.
Pepa: It’s impossible to make a sentence without using the letter a.
Bruno: Despite your thinking, it is quite possible, yet difficult, to form one without the specific letter. Here’s one more to further disprove your theory.
Julieta: Good one Bruno.
Pepa: Fuck you.
Yandere Pepa and how she met and became obsessed with you
Tumblr media
Pepa most likely became obsessed with you because of your personality, she just loves how kind you are to others in general.
How did you guys meet? You probably bumped into each other somehow. From there, her obsession grew with you, and she couldn't stop thinking about you. You were on her mind all the time.
The next thing she kidnapped you, and you were confused.
"Pepa, what the hell?" You asked thrashing in your restraints. "Don't worry y/n, you're here with me now, and don't even attempt to escape, because you will regret it."
You couldn't do anything about it, you were hers now
Soon wasn’t enough (Pepa x Fem!Reader)
Tumblr media
"And when will it be 'soon' Pepa?!" you yelled angrily, not caring about the black cloud hanging over you. It was the third time this week that your girlfriend did this to you.
You had been in a secret relationship with Pepa Madrigal since you both turned 17, and that was 4 years ago! 4 years of having to sneak around, of having to pretend you were just best friends. 4 years of waiting for her to tell the truth.
Look, you weren't stupid, you knew that not everyone was lucky enough to have parents as understanding as yours, who had long since accepted that you were a lesbian, and that's why you had agreed to take things easy with Pepa until she was ready to tell her mother the truth. But you hadn't expected it to take so long.
You loved Pepa more than life itself, but you couldn't go on like this anymore. You felt bad like you were hiding something horrible when actually, all you did was love her.
"Just give me more time" your girlfriend begged you "I'll try to tell her after the dinner with the Rojas, you know she's been really stressed about this and I don't want to catch her at a bad time"
You sighed deeply and closed your eyes to calm yourself. A part of you knew she was right, it was always better to catch Alma in a good mood, but the other part was worried because your girlfriend didn’t seem to realize what was happening. The dinner with the Rojas was for engaging Julieta with that Agustín boy and you knew that if she didn’t do something, Pepa would be the next one.
Still, you decided to trust in her once again, because that's what girlfriends did, right?
"Alright" You sighed "but please promise me you'll actually do it this time"
"I promise I'll try" she said
You sighed again and nodded. It was better than nothing.
___________________________
"I should have known" you growled
Julieta just watched as you walked around all your room with your eyes filled with sadness and anger. She had come to you because you were her only true friend and she needed to vent about the terrible dinner she had with the Rojas the night before.
At first, you listened to her without saying a word because she had tears running down her face and that worried you. You took her to your room and she told you everything. How Agustín was a good man and maybe kind of cute with all his accidents, but he just wasn't for her.
"I don't want to be his nurse for the rest of his life, Y/N" she had said as she cried in your arms.
"Maybe you should talk to your mom about it" you tried to comfort her
"I tried" she sobbed "she didn't want to listen. I'm stuck with this marriage"
You felt so bad for your friend. You wanted to help somehow, but you knew that no one could do anything when Alma Madrigal said something. And that only worried you about your future with Pepa.
You didn't want to make it about You, but you had to know. So you asked Julieta if she knew something about Pepa's talk with Alma and you felt your heart breaking when the brunette frowned in confusion and told you that Alma was already planning Pepa's own engagement with her little friend Félix.
"I thought you knew" Julieta said "Pepa said you agreed to it"
"Why would I agree to my girlfriend marrying someone else?!" You yelled
"She said you two had it all planned and that Félix was happy to help"
"I don't even-" you sighed "and what exactly is the plan I supposedly agreed to?"
"She said something about Félix being the cover for you two and-"
"I've heard enough" you interruped her
The healer frowned when you collapsed next to her in your bed. You hid your face in a pillow but she could hear you crying. She put a hand on your back and started rubbing circles in it.
"I can't believe she's doing this to me, Juli" you whispered
"I don't know why my sister lied, Y/N, but she loves you, I'm sure of it. She just needed time-"
"She isn't even trying, Juli" you growled "I can wait. I could wait for another 20 years! If only I knew she was actually trying. But she's not. She just decided it is easier to find a way to keep it secret forever and while I know the fear of getting out of the closet, I can't be put back in it and be the person she cheats on her husband with. It's not fair"
"You're right" Julieta sighed "it's not"
You felt your friend lying next to you and hid your face in her neck when she pulled you closer. You felt her tears falling on your head, but you didn't care.
You were breaking and if you couldn't comfort the other, then you'd break together.
_____________________________
"We need to talk"
Pepa felt her heart stopping when she heard those words coming from you. It had been days since her mother talked to her about marrying Félix, right after her fight with Julieta when the oldest triplet rejected her marriage to Agustín Rojas.
It was a horrible fight between the two women but in the end her sister managed to win and the engagement was broken. But her mother hadn't talked to her since then (not that Julieta cared, she seemed a little happier not having her mother controlling her).
But that put Pepa on a spot she never thought she'd ever be: she was now her mother's golden girl. With Bruno being rejected by the entire town, Pepa was Alma's only hope to "clean" the Madrigal last name from what her sister had done. An opportunity the redhead always wanted! She was tired of being in her older sister's shadow and always wanted to prove she could be as perfect as Julieta, and now she could be even better! She could do what her sister couldn't and for once in her life, she could be seen as the saviour, as the daughter that came to clean her sister's mess. All she had to do was agree to marry Félix.
She and Félix had been goo friends since school, so she guessed she had to be grateful that her mother choose someone she actually knew and liked, but she also knew she was breaking her promise to you.
But hey! You'll forgive her, she was sure. After all, you knew how much it meant to her to be able to make her mother proud, and It wasn't as if she totally forgot about you! She actually had a perfect plan to be with you while also fulfilling her mother's wishes. You'll agree to It, you had to! After all, you loved her, right?
Then why did she avoid you for days? Why did she feel like she was making a huge mistake? Why did you look so broken?
"Hi darling, what's wrong?" she tried to sound as casual as possible
"You're marrying someone else. That's what's wrong" you said without losing a second.
It was so hard for you to do this and the way she looked all guilty and surprised almost made you back down, but her next words made you re-focus.
"I was going to tell you" she said "but please listen to me, I can explain-"
"You don't have to. Julieta told me your plan" you frowned
"Juli? When did she-"
"The night your mother tried to force her to marry someone she didn't love. The night YOU were supposed to tell her about us"
"Y/N, listen to me, I tried! But she was so mad about Juli and I-"
"Stop lying! Your sister didn't break the engagement until three days later"
"Well, yes but-"
"But you didn't even plan to do it. Did you?"
Pepa gasped when she saw the fire in your eyes and the clouds were quick to appear above your heads. In another time, you'd be quick to apologize, to make her feel better. But now, you felt that they were a good reflection of your own mind and feelings.
"I- I" she tried to come up with an excuse but it was useless, you caught her red handed.
You waited for her to say something but after a few minutes she just looked down and her clouds started raining. You sighed. So that's how this was going to be uh?
"I'm sorry Peeps" you said "but I can't do this"
Pepa looked at you immediately and you Heard a thunder over your head, but you didn't move.
"W-what?" She asked, her voice sounding so fragil "w-what do you mean?"
"You know exactly what I mean" You said "I can't be your secret anymore and I won't be the secret lover once you marry. I'm sorry Pepa, but we're done"
"N-no" she gasped, tears already falling "No, Y/N wait! Please, you can't leave me!"
"I don't want to, but I won't be a doll you play with"
"You don't understand! I must do this for us!"
"For us? Or for you?"
"We both know mom would have never accepted our relationship, this way, we can be together! Please Y/N, you promised to never leave me"
"And you promised to tell her the truth"
"You said you loved me!"
"So did you"
Pepa gasped again when reality hit her: You were serious, she crossed the line and there was nothing she could do to convince her to stay.
"Please!" She tried once more as the rain turned to snow "Please, I swear I'll talk to her. I'll break the engagement too! I promise I will!"
"When?" You asked coldly "soon?"
Pepa stopped in her tracks when all the times she said that to you came back to her memory. She felt her heart breaking even before you said the next words.
"Soon is not enough anymore"
Yandere Pepa headcanons
Tumblr media
(I struggled trying to find a good Pepa gif, sorry if it isn't that good)
Tw: Stalking, murder, kidnapping, yandere punishment, sadism, unhealthy obsession, yandere themes.
Pepa is definitely the type of yandere to stalk you, she is pretty obsessive as well. To a point she probably has a shrine for you.
She'd would kill for you to, she will do anything to make you hers. Pepa doesn't care what it takes, she'll do it.
Most definitely would kidnap you with zero hesitation, she'd do it without being caught of course.
Pepa doesn't care what others think of her, you're the love of her life.
Her family will not help you, there has already been attempts to. And lets just say they ended very badly. All of you hurt.
Punishments are very cruel around here, very harsh, very painful.
Pepa is very sadistic and can be very dangerous when she is angered, or just whenever she wants to.
One More Time (Julieta x Fem!Reader) Pt 10
Tumblr media
As always I am not a native Spanish speaker, so if I butchered a sentence or word let me know so I may correct it.
This one ended up being super long so I hope it’s something you all find worth reading.
Part 10 of 20
Pt 11
I did not make the gif.
Things to note: Julieta is a widow. Reader is 30. Talks about depression early on.
Please don’t tear it apart too harshly!
You had closed shop early and went home to bathe and change. The last time you went to casita was under poor conditions so you were looking forward to a pleasant evening. You wore one of your nicer dresses, it was a little shorter and the neckline a little deeper, and instead of having your hair tied back in your trademark bandana you had elected to curl it and let it fall down past your shoulders. You rarely wore it down but didn’t have the heart to cut it short.
On your way over you stopped and purchased a bottle of wine, feeling rude arriving empty handed. Your good mood was quickly soured when Luís’ voice cut through to you.
“Y/N amor! I’m so happy to see you! You look beautiful tonight!”
You clenched your teeth and didn’t turn to face or acknowledge him. You paid for your wine and left the store.
“Amor, did you not hear me?” Luís stated, following you out of the store and you continued to ignore him.
“Are you setting us up a special meal to rekindle our love with? You always knew how I loved my wine.”
You stopped in your tracks and turned to face him, fuming at his statement.
“How dare you! You made your choice and you WILL stop bothering me. This is for the Madrigal family. Now before I choose to involve others in your stalking you will leave me alone!” You declared and turned on your heel.
“Oh you’re still spending time with Julieta? I thought that was a one time thing.” He said, following you.
“It is none of your concern who I spend time with.”
“No woman of mine is going to hang out with some old widow. People might get the wrong idea.” He said, bumping into you when you froze in your tracks. You immediately turned on him pointing in his face.
“How dare you speak of her that way! She is better than you’ll ever be, she actually cares about how I feel unlike you! I am NOT your woman! I will NEVER be your woman again!” You hissed.
Oh you wanted to slap him. More than you had ever wanted to slap a person before. His chuckle infuriated you further.
“If I didn’t know better I’d think you liked the widow, but that would be a foolish thought wouldn’t you agree?” He asked, his tone dropping significantly.
You paused, the way his voice dropped made you nervous. You made a quick assessment before tossing your concerns to the side.
“It’s none of your concern who I like. You gave up that right six years ago. Leave and don’t ever approach me again.”
You quickly turned and left before anymore of his words could reach you.
Both of you were unaware of the fact that there was one certain Madrigal that had overheard your conversation from her balcony. Dolores had been quick to pick up on your affections for her tía and you all but admitted it to the creep. She couldn’t be happier over the fact, but she was growing concerned that the local playboy was getting ready to do something now that he knew it. Now wasn’t the time for worries though, now was the time to have a little fun at dinner. She was merciful in your store, but la casa Madrigal was her playground and she was going to make you squirm.
—-
Julieta was running all around the kitchen preparing dinner as usual when she heard a knock echo into the kitchen. She had half a mind to ignore it and let someone else answer the door, but when she heard it a second time she wiped her hands on her rag and went to the door.
“Y/N! What are you doing here?!” Julieta exclaimed. She hadn’t expected to see you tonight, let alone looking like that.
Your dress was shorter, showing off more of your leg. Your neckline was much lower than she was used to you wearing and she had to actively tell herself to not look down. Your hair that was always pulled back in your bandana was now curled and framing your face, falling down over your shoulders. Her face was immediately pink.
“I’m here for dinner?” You replied holding up the bottle, but the curious look Julieta gave made you tilt your head slightly.
“Did your hermana not tell you? She invited me to dinner last week when she came by the store to interrogate me.”
“She did what?!” Julieta exclaimed. Before the conversation could continue she could smell something burning.
“Dios mio!” She turned on her heel and went to the kitchen with you following her.
You watched her adjust some temperatures on her stove and get back to mixing whatever she had in her bowl.
“Sí, she wanted to know who I truly was.” You said, giggling at the memory.
Julieta refused to admit she was jealous. Jealous that her sister may potentially know more about you than she did. Ever since the incident in her bedroom you really hadn’t shared more about yourself and she wasn’t going to push.
“And what did she learn?” The healer mumbled and turned away, hyper focusing on her stirring.
“Hmm, not much if I’m being frank. We mostly spoke about her.”
Julieta eased on her stirring, relieved that Pepa seemingly knew just as much as her.
“I think she only managed to learn my favorite color before I flipped the conversation.”
“And what color would that be?”
You thought for a moment, watching the woman move around the kitchen and grab different spices. You watched her dress sway as she moved and you smiled.
“I’m very fond of the color blue.”
Julieta smiled to herself as she lowered the heat and turned back to face you.
“And here I thought it would be maroon like your bandana.” Julieta said with a smile. She leaned against the counter watching you.
The way she looked at you made your heart skip a beat and against your better judgment you began to approach her.
“Maroon is nice, I wear it well; but blue is just so pretty in all its different shades.”
Julieta watched as you approached her and couldn’t help but hold her breath the closer and closer you got. Soon you were in her space and her heart had to be loud enough for you to hear.
“For your table.” You said and slipped the bottle of wine from your hands into hers. Your fingers caressed hers softly, the cool feeling of metal grazing your fingers before you were interrupted.
“Señorita Y/N! What are you doing here?”
You pulled away from Julieta and turned to see a smiling Mirabel entering the kitchen.
“Your tía invited me to dinner. I didn’t realize no one was aware of my presence tonight.” You said with a chuckle.
It never occurred to you to outrightly mention it to Julieta. You figured if anyone knew you would be coming it would be the woman cooking.
“I was aware.” A softer voice interrupted.
“Did you know because of tía or because of your gift?” Mirabel asked her eldest cousin. Dolores tapped her chin for a moment.
“Well I did hear mamí invite Señorita Y/N over last week, so let’s say both.”
You watched as the two cousins went back and forth before cutting your eyes to see Julieta scurry away to chill the wine. You watched her carefully and smiled to yourself as she took a moment to collect herself.
“Ah there she is, early just like she said she’d be.” Pepa announced as she entered the kitchen.
“Now Señora, how is it that no one knew I was coming tonight?” You asked, putting your hands on your hips.
“I thought it would be more fun this way.” Pepa said nonchalantly, waving her hand before linking her arm with yours.
“Now come, I’ll give you a tour.” She said and before you could protest the redhead had you out the door.
Julieta bore a deep frown and went back to focusing on the meal.
It was hard to focus on everything Pepa was telling you about the magical house. Your mind kept drifting to Julieta and what you had done in the kitchen. How could you be so foolish to flirt with the woman in her own home! With a woman who still wore her wedding band! If anything you made a fool of yourself, but you couldn’t help but smile a little at the memory.
Pepa loved to talk, so thankfully your silence wasn’t noticed and you were quick to respond to her comments when necessary.
By the time she brought you back to the dining room everyone was seated at a large table. Pepa was quick to slide into her spot next to Felix leaving you to pick between two seats. One next to Julieta and one next to Bruno. Bruno was sweet, you liked him immensely, but he was no Julieta so you took the seat beside her.
The sudden tension in the room was suffocating and all eyes were on you. You shifted uncomfortably in your chair as you looked from Madrigal to Madrigal.
“Is something wrong?”
“You’re sitting in our dad's seat.” Mirabel whispered, leaning in towards you.
The speed in which you jumped from the seat startled most of the family. Casita shifting the tiles to keep you up.
“Lo siento!” You cried out absolutely appalled at what you had done.
“No it’s okay. You couldn’t have possibly known. You can sit there” Julieta said, startled both by your reaction and her own willingness to allow someone to sit in her husband's seat.
Your face was red with embarrassment and your hands instantly went to your dress to twist the fabric.
“No, that seat is too important.” You said and quickly moved to the empty seat beside Bruno. The man offered you a smile and you returned it awkwardly. All eyes were on you and you wanted nothing more than to turn invisible.
“So Y/N you inherited that little book store down the way?” Alma asked, giving you even more attention.
“Sí Señora.”
“Do you have anything an old lady who likes romance novels might enjoy?”
You straightened up and smiled.
“Oh I have a whole aisle dedicated to just that.”
“Well then I’ll have to come down and find something new to read.” She said with a warm smile.
“My door is always open to the Madrigal’s.” You replied.
“So I hear.” She said, causing you to pause mid bite. Julieta tensed up and buried her nerves in the wine you had provided.
“My family seems enamored by the shop.”
She wasn’t wrong. The Madrigal’s had quickly become your most frequented customers.
“I’m just glad I can provide a service everyone seems to enjoy.”
“Some of us more than others, right tía?” Camilo teased.
Julieta wanted to die. Her family wasn’t being at all subtle and it made her wonder what they suspected of her. She was subtle, or at least she thought she had been. Was she really so easy to read?
Your eyes drifted across the table to the boy. You cocked a brow and took note of the dangerous smirk he and his sister seemed to share. So this was the game they wanted to play. Well two or in this case three could play.
“How’s the book you got treating you?” You asked, leaning on your elbows towards the boy.
He immediately paled at the question. He never would have suspected you’d remember who bought what.
“Do I need to get you the next in the series yet?” You asked innocently as the boy began to slouch in his seat.
“No Señorita.” He replied quietly.
“What did you buy?” Mirabel asked with a slow grin forming on her face.
“Nothing!” Shouted Camilo.
“Señorita what did he buy?” Luisa asked, intrigued.
You grinned and leaned forward even more and opened your mouth.
“Don’t you dare!” Camilo cried out and soon all the Madrigal children were in a heated debate over what the boy had purchased.
You leaned back and glanced at Julieta and smiled before bringing the glass up to your lips. Julieta smiled and relaxed, glad that the family’s attention was on someone else.
Unfortunately it didn’t last long and Dolores took control of the situation.
“Señorita, what do you do for fun?” She asked. It wasn’t a question you expected and it caught you a bit off guard.
You thought about it and you really didn’t know what to tell her. Both her and Julieta seemed to be staring a bit harder than everyone else.
“I run my store.” You replied.
“That’s your work. What do you do when you aren’t there?”
“I….” You trailed off for a moment thinking about how to reply.
“I guess I’m always there. I’d be there now if I wasn’t here.” You said and shrugged, Dolores frowning at your answer.
“So you’re telling me unless you are running errands for your store you are there all day every day?”
“Dolores, don't be rude!” Pepa said to her daughter.
“It’s okay she’s not being rude. I guess I never noticed how boring I am.” You joked and sipped the wine. Luisa looked at you curiously and when you caught her eye you winked. Her eyes went wide in understanding.
“Oh I doubt you’re boring. You live in a world of stories where you go on adventures every day.” Isabela said, earning a smile from both you and her mother.
“What a lovely way to put it.” Julieta stated.
“But my mother seems to be joining you on those adventures. She spends every day with you.”
Julieta immediately blushed and looked away. Her family was really doing this to her. Oh she’d definitely get her revenge at a later date, when they all least expected it.
“What better place to slay demons than in a book shop?”
“Excellent point Señorita.” Alma said with a chuckle.
You met Julieta’s gaze and smiled before finishing off your wine. Julieta couldn’t help but return the smile and slightly shake her head. You really did always know what to say.
Julieta watched as in your typical fashion you twisted the conversation and took control back. You targeted everyone. Bruno became animated explaining his rat telenovelas. Mirabel explained her latest sewing creation. Camilo became excited about books on acting you said you had in stock. Pepa and Felix were sharing stories about their wedding which no longer was a sore topic. You indulged Luisa with comments on her new favorite book. You had Dolores gushing over Mariano and Isabela talking about her art. Even little Antonio had an animated conversation about his animal friends that you indulged in. You really were a delightful person.
“Julieta, pay attention.” Alma said, shaking the woman from her thoughts. Julieta blinked and realized everyone was staring at her.
“Lo siento what did I miss?”
“I was just wondering if we could have dessert now?” Antonio asked sweetly..
“Oh sí of course.” Julieta rose and headed towards the kitchen.
“It’s a nice night, let us have dessert out in the garden.” Alma suggested.
The family rose and headed out but you paused. Once alone you grabbed some plates (not accustomed to a magic house clearing the table) and headed into the kitchen.
“Hola.”
Julieta jumped a little at your voice and turned from the fridge to face you. She was quick to spot the plates in your hands.
“Oh you don’t need to do that. Casita helps clear the table.”
As if on cue plates were being magically shifted along the counter tiles towards the sink. How nice it must be to have a house that cleans itself.
“I don’t mind.” You said and placed the plates in the sink. The overwhelming urge to wash them tickled your palms but this wasn’t your house and you had no right to insert yourself into the woman’s kitchen.
