Tony keeps in touch with Harley post IM3.

Tony hacks into Harley's school to see what his grades are and it not clocking that he could literally just ask about it.

Tony keeping up with the Keener’s via twice monthly phone calls that turn into weekly ones that turn into Tony and Mrs. Keener texting back and forth.

Tony invites the kid to visit during a school break where they both just tinker with things. Harley is nervous at first until they meet up again and they start snarking back and forth.

At least one minor fire or explosion happens. If asked, neither know what started it. (Tony was wiring a gauntlet and Harley jokingly called him Dad when Tony told him he had to do his homework.)

The Keener’s visit for a week in the summertime, Tony has bought the lake house earlier to have a place away from people. Mrs. Keener and Pepper get along pretty well and both the kids like Pepper, so Tony counts it as a win.

Tony offers to pay for Harley and his sister's education and Mrs. Keener took him up on it because there was no way she’d be able to afford to send both her kids to college unless one of them got a free ride and Tony shows he cares by spending money and making sure those he cares about are safe and comfortable.

Harley spends the summer before his freshman year of high school with Tony. Tony finds a used classic car and they spend the summer rebuilding it and upgrading the engine to run clean.

Tony finds Spider-Man and finds out he’s a year older than Harley. Tony panics because here’s another kid genius but this one's in way over his head and will stay in over his head regardless of if he has support or proper equipment. Tony decides that no one else is gonna help this kid and give him as much protection as he could if he built him a suit, so he does just that.

Tony finds out about Midtown through Peter and approaches Mrs. Keener with an opportunity for Harley. (It's a genius school and it's practically a feeder to MIT, it'll be great.) Harley moves into the tower that Tony has kept here because he has reason to stay in the city.

Tony is a lot better at dealing with a kid because he's been hanging out with Harley so long, so he invites Peter over to meet Harley and have lab time. 

Harley just quips “so you’re my replacement?” to Peter and Peter immediately panicking and stuttering over himself while Harley howls with laughter.

Harley helps Peter learn to be more comfortable around Tony by roasting Tony for twenty straight minutes and after a month of lab days enlists Peter's help in making a program for FRIDAY to blast Barbie Girl when Tony has spent 24 hours or more in the lab.

Peter asks Harley to hang out with Ned outside of lab days. The three of them end up building a LEGO Deathstar and have drawn up the plans to be able to make it hover the next lab day.

Peter and Harley become thick as thieves and get to the point of that weird twin telepathy especially when it comes to being sassy.

One school break the three of them didn't go outside for the first four days, just spending most of the time in the lab so Pepper comes in and orders them to go outside for once my god Tony. Take them to your favorite burger place, I don't care, just be outside.

This leads to the three of them getting Pap'd. ("Yeah, I was out to lunch with my two interns, what's the matter with that?" is the quote above a picture of him laughing as the two boys pretend their straw wrappers are mustaches.)

This leads Tony to realize that he hadn't actually gotten the boys registered as his interns and remedies this immediately. (with backpay into a trust for each of them(Harley already gets an allowance, Tony has no idea how much is the proper amount to give to a 14 year old, and so usually gives him a few of whatever bills are in his wallet.))

Tony decides that now that they're officially employees of SI, that means they get to check out the place and so brings them down to R&D where everybody is immediately charmed by Peter and amused by Harley. The boys end up talking to the interns on the floor while Tony discusses the latest StarkPad.

One lab day both Harley and Peter look exhausted but Peter still showed up for lab time so they make their way there. Tony takes one look at them and asks FRIDAY to scan them, they both have fevers and he herds them into his living room.

Tony orders all the cold remedies he can think of to be brought up to the penthouse. Tony instructs the boys to pick a movie while he gathers blankets and dumps them on the boys.

Tony frantically texting Harley's mom and May asking them what he should do I've never taken care of a sick kid before, there are two of them, what do I do??

May asks Tony if Peter can stay the night because she's working a double that she can't get out of. He says yes if she can tell him what to do for sick kids because Harley's mom hasn't been able to respond.

Tony ends up joining the boys on the couch after forcing each of them to take cold medicine and thrusting a bowl of chicken noodle soup into each of their hands. Tony's in between the boys.

Over the course of WALL-E each boy begins to sag eventually trapping Tony on the couch. He's got one drooling in his shoulder and another drooling on his thigh. He asks FRIDAY to take several pictures before going back to his work on his StarkPad.

This starts Peter staying over whenever May is working night shifts. Then staying over every other weekend. Then Tony invites May and Peter to go on vacation to the lake house for a few days in the summer.

The Keener family is also present and May, Pepper and Mrs. Keener get on like a house on fire. Peter loves playing with Abbie with Harley. Three group chats are made that day. The adults in a co-parenting chat, the ladies in an exasperated with our geniuses chat and the kids in a sass and meme chat.

Just, Tony becomes a dad to two brilliant boys (and maybe one of the boy's baby sisters too depending how you want to write her).

Abilities: A bit of geek and hacker due to her love of technology, basic hand to hand combat since she enjoys boxing and her witty personality. She’s young so she hasn’t gotten plenty of skills yet.

Personality: Liv has a smart touch, gentle soul, sweet, charming and easy going. She is a bit of a bitchy girl and stubborn about everything she does. If she wants to do something, she will probably sneak out to get it done. She got a some of anxiety and a nervous twitch (which would grow over the years since Liv is afraid of being alone and in the dark about a lot of things), this creeping fear and sadness that will take over her if not careful.

- However Liv is very accident prone, she’s always getting hurt one way or another, giving everyone an heart attack since the age of 9 since she’s always been a active little girl. So in result she give Tony and something for Rei to roll his eyes about.

- From an young age, she has always been into tech, jewelry and over all. Wanting to build and grow a her own little things, she was a Stark it’s a given! She watched a lot of movies so she got creative with her ideas.

- Random fun fact, one of her favorite movies is 10 Things I Hate About You, just because she likes Kat Stratford’s aesthetic and attitude. But it’s many Action Movies and Rom-Coms that she will watch with Pepper, that she enjoyed. It’s where she gets her inspiration for things.

- She adored the idea staying in the lab, tinkering and cleaning up the inventions that were made. She practically lived in there, staying home to help and learn. It caused never want to leave that house in general, having a bit of mouth on her after hearing the adults always speak their minds (so don’t be surprised this girl start rambling and throws out whatever bullshit that appears in her thoughts), but it allowed her to be a safe within those four walls.

- It didn’t take long for her to start filling up a notebook with designs on how to incorporate technology into fine jewelry (aka The Stark Watch, necklaces to tracking and security measures, bracelets to be use for defense purposes and rings can be transformed into gauntlet). 

- She’s always been bit of business women! Wanting to create products to help people, keeping an eye on things from behind the scenes, represent and model for Stark industries and such. 

- But she was still so young, so her parents and siblings didn’t want her to grow up so soon in the spotlight of it. She’s a kid! And she understood that, it bothered her but she understood why. So she stays hoping her time could come where she can help out the group.

—> Because little did she know that theses little gadgets and gizmos that would be incorporated into the ideas her father and older brother would use as fashion purposes in the future with their own suits. Aka they’re Iron Man suits!

—> I know you may be wondering about her family life, well Liv raised well per say. She had to move around a lot as a child, especially since Tony never wanted the public attention to be on her just yet and her mother wasn’t sure that she would taken care of. It took convincing from Pepper and Jason to let her stay home with them, so everything was fine after that.

Her relationship with her father was an nice one. When it comes to parenting his kids, Tony was a rather dramatic, embarrassingly loud at times, a little cocky and stubborn parent per day, so it’s a bit difficult to get him to calm down and talk softly with him. Tony cares a lot about his children, having Rei and Liv to take care of but he was always busy with the company having to arrive home late, events he had to attend and ending up being tired.

Other than that, he tried to make time for his son and daughter, bringing them to the lab and everywhere he could. Even if he got in trouble afterwards. Tony always tries to inspire his daughter to do what she loves and experience things, be caring, make sure she was alright too and etc. But they make it work!

Ohh, did I forget to mention how annoying and protective Tony can be as a parent? He will take everything very seriously or not serious at all, acting out if something goes wrong and he tends to be questioning his motives. Even blaming himself if something bad were to happen to his family. Tell Tony Stark you have a crush? He sends JARVIS to keep an eye on you. Ask Tony for something like a new backpack for school? He buys you something else.

In his defense, he does everything with so much love (even if he doesn’t always portray it in the best way).

Her relationship with Rei however—you wouldn’t think it but rather wholesome, since she’s the little sister he never exactly wanted. They were completely opposite to one another, he’s grumpy and she’s easygoing, he rather work alone in silence and she rather work with music blasting and etc. But as much as Rei may be annoyed and want to throw his little sister out of the house, deep down he cares about her, even though he didn’t show it to her very often and he’s very protective of her ever since he was a child.

Rei and their father, always trying to keep Liv out of harms way and safe at home. Even if they tend to fail at times.

Since Tony was always busy, Rei tends to be one to look out for Liv and keep her in check, being her personal bodyguard for everything she does. If it was up to him, Rei would wrap his baby sister in bubble wrap and not let her leave the house!!

When they were kids (and even now) Liv would follow Rei wherever he went and wanting to copy him, be like her big brother because he always around the corner with something snarky to say to her and a huge potty mouth (it resulted in her having a huge attitude as well). She will always be the one to encourage Rei’s designs for suits and talk to dad about something.

He talks and she will absolutely love to listen to him (even if 85% of the time she has no idea what he’s talking, cause he’s smarter than her at a lot of things.)

Sometimes you will find Liv in a moody way shutting everyone out of her room and just curled up in a ball, similar to brother and to be honest, it concerns Rei a bit when it happens. But he would probably try to snap her out of it, even not he will let her be in her moody moments. He knows how it is

At the end of the day, no matter how different they were with one another and the paths they choose, they cared in their own way. Even if when they’re public, they act like they don’t know one another.

—> As for her relationship with the Avengers and Young Avengers! Ooof let’s stick to first impressions, shall we?

She met all of them when she just a child, joining Rei and Tony on a simple basis day with the group. She first started watching her father talking with Bruce Banner, and she took a liking to him very much seeing how nice, gentle and reserved he can be. But there an edge to him, that she found to be cool.

As for when she met Rick, it was when him and Rei were chatting. Her first impression of him, to her the young man is that he looked like a old school Disney Channel Star with a nice smile and warmth, with a glint of mischief in his eyes.

So when she saw Bruce, Rick, Rei and Tony all work together in their own separate labs blasting music so loudly..the only thing Vi said, “Oh no, there’s 4 of them!”

When she met Natasha, she just cool and rather chill per say acting like the nonsense agent with a soft side. Romanoff’s daughter on the other hand, she was just curious about her and Vi liked that.

Same thing goes for Clint and his daughter, they were just cool people. She was always amazed with the skills they had, and a part of her always knew that Clint Barton was a family man. And she was right, when they appeared at the Barton’s Barn years later.

Meira and Luna were just so relaxed, gentle and sweet girls. She adored how they acted with their teammates and siblings, especially Meira since she was a little sister just like her. Sweet and snarky.

Ethan was just super chill and suspicious of everything, Rei didn’t like him and carried Vi alway from from very quickly. Cole was just so mischievous, snarky smile and tossing jokes every day, making Vi laugh or snort. But a part of her respected him greatly, cause she heard he was VERY powerful.

Liane, well she didn’t like her right away. She annoyed Olivia very quickly and she sent painful glared toward the girl who tried to make friends with her. After a while she softened toward Ms Felton, but it took a long time cause she saw Rei didn’t like her either.

Abilities: Marksmanship and Acrobatics, having took some gymnastics classes. She’s also a bit of a fast learner so she’s fluent in English, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese and some French.

Personality: Gentle, a little broken due to being let down a lot in life, warm-hearted, clumsy, a bit shy and humorous at times. But if she’s anything like her fathers, she’s stubborn enough, a little self-sacrificing, and willingly to help no matter what.

- Sam and Bucky have been together for a while now, since their chemistry was a challenging one it always hard to settle down and figure out what they want. However a house, family and future for their kids was always one of them.

- They already had Laurie and Benjamin, so they thought two kids was enough as it is. But things took a small turn when they stumble at a orphanage in Brazil for a mission and met this no named little girl who gave both of them the most honest smile.

- Sam has always been one to have a big heart, so wanting a big family was always part of that. So his heart spoke before his words ever could, wanting to adopt her. Bucky Barnes on the other hand was a little hesitant—well more like worried—about the whole thing, he always wanted a little piece of normalcy and he got it with Sam and their kids. But adding a 3rd? That was a lot of responsibility, but he caved as soon as he hung out with the girl.

- To be honest, they saw a bit of themselves in her. So she was adopted when she less than 10 years old and brought into a family of oddly comforting heroes. They named gave her a name and did everything they could to make her feel comfortable. Welcomed.

—> So Davina (or Daphne) as they called her grow up with her parents and siblings. As loved as she was, she always felt alone and feared that it will all be taken away from her. Especially with the fact that her parents were heroes themselves, there was always a chance that they can end up hurt or worse, if not careful.

- But Bucky always made sure to tell her and every single one of his children, “Don’t worry, I’ll always come back home to you guys, no matter how long it takes.” And Sam would tell them, “You’re our kids, we will always love you and be there to tuck you in bed whenever we can.”

- Sometimes they would be gone for 2-3 days, maybe a week or a whole month leaving the kids in care of family and friends. Laurie was the oldest of the siblings, so they could handle themselves very well and or sneak off to join the fight ending with them in trouble. Benjamin being the second oldest, so he rather stay behind during the fight and stay with his sisters and friends.

- Speaking of fights and travel, when if plenty say battle isn’t place for children. Sometimes Sam and Bucky had no choice but to bring there kids with them to places like Wakanda, Stark Tower, France and or let’s say Germany for instance. Even though it was a hassle to bring children along for the ride, it was an interesting learning experience and a way to test out their kids

- And to be honest, Daph and her siblings enjoy it a little too much. Cracking jokes, running around, exploring different places and meeting interesting people, and creating new ideas among one another. It was a field trip for them sometimes.

-> And if your wondering, yes Daphnia is team #HateJohnWalker! When she found out, she was ready to take her baseball bat and wack his head with it, demanding the Shield back with a glare. Bucky couldn’t be more prouder of her in that moment laughing, meanwhile Sam rolled his eyes unable to believe what he heard.

- Random fun fact, she played baseball before she was ever adopted and had really good aim, depending on where she was hitting. It was a trait her siblings carried on as well, especially Benjamin even if he was more reserved one, he had a great aim.

- She always loved any sport that involves movement and play, soccer being one of them (since she lived in Brazil for a while). She liked to think she was rather talented when it came to that, even if she was a problem when it came to being around other kids, having a small temper and glaring at other people. Mainly, it was her insecurity that she hid underneath her own glares. 

- Matter a fact all the kids were talented in their own way ever since they were younger. Daphne when she was very little, believed at the time that she didn’t have any good talents and wasn’t as smart enough as it is. Until Sam took her out to the shopping and noticed that she stopped in front of small gymnastics building with wide eyes, softly grinning at the sight. She pleaded for him to let her walk in and see the girls, he nodded letting her watch. As she did, Daph realized she wanted to join in on the fun and dance as well. Sam couldn’t stop himself and called Bucky for his opinion on it.

- She started her classes soon enough and enjoyed it for the most part, her body was rather sore after some classes. So she wasn’t too happy about that part. When Bucky told Nat about it, the Russian spy came in shocked and said, “If she wanted to learn some acrobatics, why didn’t you come to me or Lydia? Barton would’ve showed her!” 

- Bucky just rolled his eyes and replied, “Cause she wanted that to be her own thing. And it doesn’t hurt to have some normalcy around her, Romanoff. I think it’s a good thing..” And Bucky was right about that, since he loved seeing his husband and children happy, enjoying themselves and having a break from the hero world. Hell, he goes to every talent show, buys items needed and participates in whatever is needed. Even if he’s not too happy about it at first.

- Of course as much as acrobatics were her own thing and all she ever wanted to do, so she can have that skill set. That didn’t stop the idea of having good marksmanship in her left corner, she was already good with a baseball bat and Bucky was more than happy to show the basics of how to hold/use a gun to his kids. Sam wasn’t too pleased about that idea though saying, “They’re too young!”

- And to be honest, Daph was pretty good with a gun. Swinging it swiftly and tossing the gun in her hands, holding it up to her target (which was an old target board hanging outside nearby the trees). However that didn’t mean she didn’t play around with the gun at first, holding in her hands and pretending to be a spy. “Barnes, but you can call Agent Daphnia Wilson, at your service.” She said with a giggle, humoring herself.

- Daph was always a little silly, cocky and daring. Not thinking first and asking questions later kinda gal—oops! So it lead her to getting in trouble sometimes, breaking certain curfews if she out at the movies with a friend (like with one of the young avengers), being a little lazy about things and running away from her problems like a champ. But by the end of the day, she was good girl.

-> Speaking of Young Avengers and Older Avengers. You’re probably wondering who’s her favorites are and first impression were of the teams huh? Well, here are your answers.

Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff were a given to being liked by her, due to her parents being friends with them. I mean come on, they are basically Captain America, The Black Widow and the rest of Cap’s Quarter.

Moving down the list Thor was always a silly man to her, hearing stories how he speaks in old English and is very noble when it comes to the things that he does. According to the stories from Sam, he was a rather loud fella with a good heart.

Clint Barton, she took a liking too finding his simple ways of life and honest charm to be a nice thing to see. Plus Clint has a similar murder stare to Bucky, so it was funny to see their resting faces when they’re in the same room together.

The man, the myth, the legend himself (or that’s at least what people like to say) Tony Stark was always one of a kind. She was very nervous to meet all of The Avengers, one of them being Stark having seen how the persona he displayed on TV screens and the stories. But in reality, Tony was just a genius goof with snarky humor, so it lighten up her mood.

It was like Bruce Banner sensed her nervousness from a mile away since she appeared in The Tower. He noticed the child behind Sam Wilson holding her jacket, leaned down to her level to kindly introduce himself to the girl and watching parents reactions. Soon enough, with Bucky leaning against the wall with a nod of encouragement, Daph started talking to Bruce with such softness and gentleness.

As for the rest of them, she met them some time later. The Young Avengers. She met the Stark siblings, Rei wasn’t in the lightest mood having no like the idea of meeting Barnes or Wilson’s kids but Olivia gave her a warm welcome and waved at her before rushing off to meet her friends at the mall.

Natasha Romanoff’s daughter Rochelle was kind enough to show her and her siblings around, chatting with them knowing it felt to be the new kids. Daph liked her reddish hair and kind smile.

Liane was something else, having been on a rambling mess when she met Daph and trying to figure out what to do with her plans. Laurie laughed as her sister snicker at the blonde, meanwhile Benji just rolled his eyes confused wanting to get away from there.

Meira was and will always be a delight to meet, since Daphnia met her that same week in The Tower’s kitchen and taste testing her new batch of cookies. They were delicious.

Speaking of food, when Daphnia met Rick she got the same warmth and kindness she remembered from being Bruce. But this time it involved snacks and jokes around his week at The Tower, she was all ears listening to him as they entered the kitchen to find some chicken nuggets.

Cole and Luna, it was more magic and fun spells when she came to see them. The two were casting some spills, when she got caught in one of them being turned into a little mouse by accident. Cole laughed as Luna worried, but they turned her back to normal soon enough.

Ethan was the 3rd sibling she met, and she thanked all the Stars and Stripes that it was a simple meeting. He was watching a movie, being Monsters Inc. when she met him the guy joining The Young Avengers for a movie night.

Summary: the wedding of Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff

A/N: well shit. I don’t even know where to begin with this. @broken--bow this is yours, without you this wouldn’t be here - from the bottom of my heart thank you so much. @oceanspirit9 I’m still in awe of your art, thank you for it and your entire encouragement this month.

Fic is about community - whumptober gives me a chance to set my mind to something in a month where, there are difficulties and hardships. It gives a whole other place to exist in. Without the communities of fic; life becomes a lot more convoluted and grey. Thank you all for being on this journey - if you’ve liked multiple chapters and followed (even at a distance) - I see you, and thank you. All your commented and likes and reblogs matter to me.

Long live this community. It’s so very dear to me.

CLINT AND NATASHA’S WEDDING DAY

Dreykov circles her.

Sitting tied to a chair Natasha is powerless to move.

Fear paralyzes her.

A gun in hand as he points it at her face.

“You think you belong anywhere else but here?”

He places it under her chin.

“I would rather die than let anyone else have you.”

He presses in further, causing her to lift her head, unable to swallow.

“No one will ever love you, not when I’m through with you.”

He bends down and kisses her cheek.

Then stands and backhands her.

“You’ll never escape the Red Room, not even if you tried.”

.

She wakes alone.

Her chin sore as she touches it gently, trying to wipe away the sensation.

The room is dark and the world still.

The ghosts that haunt her still feeling present.

The dream dissipates as time presses forward.

She turns for Clint to find his side of the bed empty, and she pads out of bed to the bathroom.

Natasha looks at herself in the mirror, her reflection pale.

She did escape.

In the ways that matter.

She thinks of Isla, trapped and alone; fulfilling Dreykov’s prophecy and wonders how to help her. Tomorrow, she thinks, she’ll ask Clint tomorrow.

Glancing at the time, she realises it is the next day.

Her wedding day.

A day that was supposed to be by the beach, in the sun, a day that given the last 3 years grew less likely.

To have it here, Natasha supposes she feels apprehensive, waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Something will go wrong.

She feels it.

All this good doesn’t come without bad.

Yelena sits on a chair staring at her.

It takes a moment for Natasha to orient to the time and space but when she does; she grins.

The night had continued to be rocky, but the spate of sleep she’d got from 6-7am would have to be enough.

Clint was staying in his own floor, surrounded by the other boys, whilst she was getting ready with the girls.

Maria, as she was officiating had the luxury of passing in between to keep everyone on time.

“Stop watching,” Natasha mumbles, throwing a pillow at her.

Yelena catches it and throws it back.

“Get up,” she commands, “you’re getting married today.”

She smiles menacingly.

“I’ve also been tasked with getting you dressed.”

Natasha sits up, still sleepy, growing more aware of the tasks ahead and pushing down the apprehension that grows.

Yelena does nothing to help it, except push her into the bathroom and tells her to shower.

The whole scene is surreal.

She wonders if Clint is faring any better.

Pepper greets him in the kitchen, and he’s momentarily confused.

“Yelena is with Natasha,” she tells him, “I’m just finishing up on some details upstairs then I’ll go help them. Where’s Tony?”

Steve enters after him and he holds up the coffee pot, questioning.

Steve shrugs and nods.

“It’s your wedding day, man!”

Clint sucks down the cup of coffee, not waiting to breathe, until he’s finished instead giving Steve a thumbs up with his other hand.

Pepper rolls her eyes and laughs.

“I’ll see you later,” she tells them.

“Make sure you’re here by 10.”

She looks directly at Steve.

“Okay?”

He nods and salutes mockingly.

“Come on. Bring that with you,” he ushers, pushing him towards the workshop.

Clint follows, dragging his feet as the time flashing of 8am feeling mocking on the microwave.

If only he got more sleep.

He doesn’t want to think about what it means that sleeping beside Natasha gives him much better sleep than sleeping alone.

The dreams, the overthinking, she just has a way of soothing it, and making it better.

Tony, half dressed in a tuxedo, greets him with a drink and a smile.

“Happy wedding day,” he says, handing him an arrow.

Clint takes it unconsciously, and then hands it back confused.

Tony presses the bottom collapsing it and it opens at the point, revealing a purple flower.

“To sit in your pocket,” he nods, he then pulls on the end and it turns back into an arrow. Handing it back, Clint, he gives it a go, marveling at the weapon turned flower.

“Thanks,” he says, playing with it like a fidget toy.

“You should start getting ready,” Steve prompts responsibility.

Tony laughs.

“He just needs to get dressed, how long do you think it’s going to take him?”

“Yeah, but Pepper has asked him to look at the roof, in like an hour, make sure it’s all okay for Nat, then make any changes. Plus, she’ll be there at like 11 for the ceremony to start at 11.10.”

He looks pointedly at Tony.

“What time do you need to be there?”

Tony waves him off.

“I’ll be there on time, I have alarms.”

Clint shakes his head and walks off arrow in hand feeling nervous at the pressure being placed.

He doesn’t like it.

Instead of heading to his room, he sends a message and heads for the elevator.

She gets a message, a slight code on it, and realises it’s from Clint almost immediately.

“Meet me in the elevator,” it says, “I need to see you.”

Halfway through her make up, she stands and heads for the door.

“I’ll be back,” she tells Yelena and Maria, who are also finishing their make up.

She hasn’t seen Pepper yet, and misses her no nonsense calmness of organisation.

“When you’re back, I’ll do your hair,” Yelena offers, and Natasha nods.

“Wait,” Maria calls, throwing two cupcakes at her.

“Eat something.”

Natasha catches them and makes it a show to take a bite, before backing out and heading to the elevator.

It opens to reveal Clint, still in a tshirt and pajama pants.

There’s a look of relief on his face as he sees her and he pulls her in, kissing her and hugging her close.

“I missed you,” he says, sappily.

She’d call him out on it, but she feels the same. The comfort of each other regulating, Natasha handing him a cupcake and he hands her the pot of coffee he’d taken from the kitchen.

They sit in the stationary elevator, not talking as they eat the cupcakes and drink the coffee.

“Pepper has me looking at the roof to make sure it’s at your standards,” he admits.

“Do you want me to text you photos?”

Natasha nods.

“Yeah, no surprises would be good.”

He nods.

“You’ll be standing ready to walk together right?”

He nods again.

“Everything else is ready, right?”

She nods.

“Only Yelena knows, she won’t tell anyone.”

Clint sighs and checks the time.

“We should go,” he says with a shallow smile.

“Yeah.”

Slowly they stand.

The elevator opening as if commanded and then, kissing each other, they go their separate ways.

The ribbon is gently braided in.

Both Natasha and Yelena don’t talk, the moment feeling sacred as the tie that bound them in childhood and helped to bring them back together.

There’s nothing really to say.

Shallow smiles and gentle touches as they both seem to understand the significance of the moment.

They’re both alive, against all odds.

Something maybe neither of their mothers expected.

“Thank you for being here, today,” Natasha says quietly.

Yelena doesn’t reply.

“I didn’t think…”

Yelena places a hand on Natasha shoulder.

“The past, I think will always play a part for us. But I am glad to be here with you too.”

It’s not an absolution.

It could never be, neither of them would accept it.

But it’s enough.

The wedding dress fits perfectly.

Pepper and Yelena help.

Pepper shed tears and Yelena just looks pleased. Natasha that leaves for the bathroom, feeling too many emotions and overwhelmed with them.

She needs time to centre herself.

Time is moving too quickly, and she feels almost dissociated and disconnected from the moments that keep happening.

It’s like it’s happening to someone else, or that she’s watching it happen to herself.

She should be happy, not apprehensive and anxious.

The time with Clint was the most centred she’d been since waking, and it just felt compounded.

“Nat?”

Pepper knocks on the door.

“I’ve got to go meet Clint, are you okay to meet us on the roof in about 11? It’s about an hour?”

Natasha squeaks out a response, and then keeps staring at herself.

She just needs a moment.

The rooftop is beautiful.

Chairs are placed in a semi circle around an arbour. The archway decorated with blue forget-me-nots as the litter the aisle and decorate all the chairs.

There’s pictures, of Barney and Coulson. There’s not just one of each but multiples, pictures of them Clint and Barney that Gus had given, of Natasha and Coulson, pictures he hadn’t seen before. He stops and sees the tiny one of Natasha’s mother holding her, and feels his breath catch in his throat.

“Pepper.”

He wanders around and takes a few photos of all of it, before sending it off.

“You did all this? In two days?”

Pepper shrugs.

“Some of you have super powers…”

“You have super powers,” Clint cuts her off, leaving no room for argument.

There’s blue ribbons on the chairs and tiny purple arrows in the bouquets.

He wanders for a moment, taking it all in and gathering himself.

“I didn’t know if you wanted that…” she gestures to the pictures of the people no longer here, “but I wanted to a acknowledge them, in some way I guess.”

He walks back over and stares at Coulson, and nods.

“No, it’s perfect.”

Pepper stands back and looks around.

“Is there anything else, or something more you need?”

Clint shakes his head.

“No, but can you keep a secret?”

He feels it’s only right in telling her after she had put so much effort into this moment.

She nods.

After Clint leaves to get Tony, he messages Natasha.

“Anything else needed? I told Pepper, too.”

A message comes, moments later.

Just one word that makes his heart stop.

“Red.”

Yelena stands at the bathroom door, and shrugs at Clint.

“She was fine.”

There’s a tone of worry he doesn’t think he has ever heard. Always so self assured or matter of fact, Yelena doesn’t seem easily put out.

Now, it’s a worry that bleeds through.

“Can you tell Pepper to get everyone seated and we’ll come together?”

He glances at the time, 10.55.

She doesn’t move, perhaps concerned with this part of Natasha that she’s never seen before.

He tries to dampen down the urgency, reassure her and get her out, he nods and smiles.

“Don’t worry. She’ll be fine, just cold feet maybe. Go, I’ll call you if we need anything, or Jarvis will let you know, okay?”

Yelena looks at Clint, a hard look that tells him she’s trusting him with this.

Backing up, she leaves and Clint knocks.

A secret knock that they use often.

The door unlocks.

He opens it and suddenly can’t breathe.

“You look beautiful.”

It’s an understatement.

Her hair braided, with small wisps coming down, make up done and in a dress that fits her perfectly.

He takes her hand, kisses it and guides her to sit on the side of the bath.

She’s not crying, she just looks sad.

“What happened?” he asks.

He draws circles on her hand, then starts tracing over her fingers.

“It’s going to go wrong. Good things can’t happen to me. If we do this,” she pauses.

“It’ll we do this, you’ll die. Something will happen to you. I’m the Black Widow.”

He shakes his head.

“Nat.”

She sighs.

“Tell me what you think will happen.”

“I don’t know. I just know it’s too good. You’re too good. You deserve someone who isn’t a void of bad.”

His heart is angry, and he doesn’t know how to dispute it in a way she’ll accept.

“What happened?”

Natasha glances at him.

“I was looking in the mirror, and nothing had happened. No one had broken in, no one had kidnapped one of us, and I kept thinking, what’s going to happen next?”

He stops the tracing and encourages her to do the same to him.

He sighs.

“Nat.”

“I know,” she sighs.

“I know it sounds stupid and we've made it this far, but I can’t help but think it. If you marry me, I’m dooming you.”

He laughs at that.

It seems to shake her.

“It is stupid,” he says seriously.

“Do you want to be with me?”

She looks at him and frowns.

“Of course.”

“Are you willing to risk doom for it?”

She hears her words repeated back at her.

Biting her lip, she looks to him.

“Yes,” she says, with a watery grin.

“I have you, and you have me. You know those stupid vows? You make me brave,” he tells her, “so doom is nothing with you by my side. You deserve good things.

I promise, okay?”

“I’m better because of you,” she thinks, the words of vows they spoke in what seems like a lifetime ago.

“We can do this, yeah? We can do this, and when we do, then…”

“I know… I know.”

Natasha stands.

“ I don’t want you to die.”

Clint smiles, taking her hand.

“If I die Nat, you can say I told you so, okay?”

Natasha nods.

“Are you ready?”

Yelena watches Clint and Natasha walk down the aisle.

Overcome with emotion, she cries openly.

She doesn’t care.

Half the people here she doesn’t know, and the other half look as teary as she does.

Pepper had admitted to her that all of them needed some happiness. That since 2012 every one of the Avengers had been flailing.

Since Clint and Natasha had admitted about being engaged, the wedding had been something they’d planned, kept tabs on, supported and gossiped about. It had provided hope for the future, and sometimes had supported grounding.

They couldn’t die, or break apart because they all had something to live for, to look forward to.

Yelena understood it.

Without hope, without that something to look towards, life became so much more difficult.

The words Maria speaks don’t feel rehearsed, and even Natasha cries as she talks.

Clint wipes away her tear, dabbing gently with a tissue.

Yelena sniffs.

She hadn’t expected to be emotional.

Offered tissues from Pepper (who always seems to know what to do), Yelena takes them and sighs.

She’s never been invited to a wedding.

Crashed them, sure.

Been on missions where they’d fabricated an invite.

But not this.

Natasha is the only family she has, and so this is likely the only wedding she’ll ever be invited to.

She dabs her eyes and takes a moment to look around.

The man with the eye patch, keeps looking at her and she ignores it hoping it’s just because he feels uncomfortable with public displays of emotion.

Steve sits next to Sam, both of them watching on in awe.

Bruce fiddles in his chair and she wonders if other emotions bring out the Hulk.

She turns back to the wedding, taking some candid pictures, even though she’s sure Pepper’s photographer has it handled.

Yelena feels that even though the wedding is small, everyone is here because they want to be.

Friends, found family, it’s a strange group of people.

She wonders if one day she’ll have this.

She hopes.

.

Natasha stands in front of her family and friends and tells Clint that she’ll be with him til death. He returns the words and finally Maria tells them to kiss.

Amongst the whoops and cheers and throwing of petals at them, Natasha can’t help but smile with Clint at the commitment they’ve just made.

He hugs her and kisses her again, to everyone’s delight and they walk out towards their friends leading the way to the grand room where they’d had Christmas lunch days earlier.

Now transformed, into a room fit for celebration, Natasha has no idea how Pepper did it.

Despite all the anxiety and fear to get to this point, she’s happy.

Glad they did it.

It’s the other shoe, finally dropping.

Except it’s not bad.

It’s good.

Clint glances at Natasha, taking her hand and leading her to the hallway.

“We did it!”

He picks her up and hugs her, relief evident on her face as he spins her and kisses her smiling face.

“You tell me when you’re ready,” he grins, and she nods.

“I want to check on Yelena and Tony, and we need to thank Pepper,” she tells him.

“Okay, I need to just tell Fury a few things, and we should thank Maria for doing such a good job.”

Natasha nods.

“She did. Maybe you can check on Gus too, he’s heading home tonight, I think Tony organised a car; maybe just make sure he’s aware.”

Clint looks past her down the hall.

“We’re so close Nat, just a little longer.”

They kiss again and split up, each with their own little list of things today.

She finds Yelena talking to Tony, and wonders when and how they became talking friends. Maybe being in an ordeal just makes it that way.

She talks to them for a bit, the pulls Yelena away.

“I know what you’re going to say,” Yelena tells her.

“It’s okay, it’s not goodbye,” she smiles.

Natasha shakes her head.

“Now I’ve found you, you’re stuck with me,” she replies.

“Plus, we need to talk about Isla.”

Yelena’s face turns serious.

“Yeah. I was talking to Tony about a weapon, and the trackers.”

Natasha nods, “that’s good.”

She hugs her again.

“Not too long, okay?”

Yelena bumps her head into Natashas.

“No, not too long.”

Clint approaches them, and Yelena spontaneously hugs him too.

“Congratulations, I guess,” she smiles.

“You’ll stick around for a bit?”

Yelena shrugs, “maybe a little.”

It’s a lie but they don’t call her on it.

Clint turns to Natasha.

“Ready?”

Natasha smiles.

“Ready.”

OKINAWA

Okinawa is just as she remembered.

Beautiful beaches, lovely people and a relaxation that felt strange at first.

Her large oversized hat sits just over her head and she smiles as Clint runs in from the water.

Her husband.

What a concept.

“Next, you’re going to tell me that it’s time to build a sand castle,” she goads, handing him a towel.

He laughs ringing his hair out and laying next to her.

“What do you want for dinner?”

She shrugs.

“Whatever you want?”

Clint smiles, the sun shining as it sets.

He looks over to his wife.

He married the black widow.

“Sushi,” he decides.

Natasha nods.

“Perfect.”

They stand together, Clint holding out his hand and envelopes hers into it, bringing to his lips and kissing it gently.

“After you,” he grins.

Fic Summary:

Peter rushes out of school to join Tony in fighting the aliens that appear over New York, leaving behind the problems that plague his life.

He ends up leaving them behind for far longer than expected when an alien substance causes him to swap bodies with Tony. They agree to live each other’s lives to keep the mishap under wraps, giving each of them an up-close and personal view of the other’s hidden problems.

Peter will come to learn that Tony’s life isn’t as glamorous as it appears, and Tony will come face to face with all of the things that Peter never told him about: bullies, unfair teachers, and economic struggles.

Actually kinda sad that zero marvel ships are in the top 100 ao3 ships this year. NOT EVEN STUCKY WHICH IS THE TOP MCU SHIP.

TOP 100 AO3 SHIPS OF ALL TIME

1st: Stucky dropped by one rank from 4th to 5th. But still in the top 5!!

2nd: Stony dropped by one rank as well. From 6th to 7th. BUT TOP 10 ANYWAY SO YAY.

3rd: Irondad and Spiderson rose up by ONE RANK!!! From 20th to 19th!!! WE MADE IT TO TOP 20!!

4th: Pepperoni dropped FIVE ranks. Still I'm so happy we made it to like the top 35 ships!!

5th: Bucky/Reader. I'm not really into this but biases aside, this ship stayed in its spot! Congrats!

6th: Thor/Loki. THIS DROPPED NINE RANKS. Y'all still made it to top 70 which is a-okay! Congratulations! 👏👏

7th: Ironfrost. (I think that's the ship name??) Something I don't really ship but again biases aside, dropped 4 ranks but made it to the Top 80!

We deserved a fourth iron man movie set during homecoming and infinity war. I would have loved seeing how Tony acted after civil war, how much Steve's betrayal affected him and how much the break up of the avengers affected the world.

I'm not a writer and honestly I guess tony's arc was kinda complete, but I think his self-pity, his anxiety of always having to improve would affect this film, in a different way from Iron Man 3, since in this he would also have to manage the disappearance of the Avengers and of its consequences. He would work twice as much as an iron man and perhaps this would lead to more hatred of him by civilians (cough that lady in civil war cough and maybe a possible villain cough). Another thing I always saw weird is how they handled Tony and Pepper's relationship. I mean, they broke up because Tony never stopped with being Iron Man, so in this movie they could have shown us how at the end they managed to make things work between them, since this was never explained to us and since Pepper never "accepted" this side of him and Tony never wanted to leave Iron Man.

Also, they could have showed us Tony mentoring Peter and how they became closer, and i genuinely think that if they showed more of them, their respective death would have hurt more for us. Peter was the reason why tony wanted a child- you can't tell me otherwise because we all know he wouldn't even think about a baby before civil war, mostly because of his father- so we would have seen how Tony acted towards him and slowly becoming like a father figure to him.

I don't think this movie would have been boring and useless, because I'm really curious what happened in those two years and I also think that those two years changed Tony and I'd die to see how.

Apologies in advance for the long ask but could you maybe write an Avengers fic with 1, 9, 11, 13 and 19... (most of those can just be references or brief comments lol) and with the og avengers group (cap, tony, nat, bruce, thor, clint, scott, sam + like bucky and pepper) I just would like to read some fun found family avengers Christmas (with a bit of stucky and clintasha thrown in if you want) ur writing is awesome btw :)

The text from Tony to the Avengers had stated that they all needed to be at the Avenger's headquarters at 10 am on Christmas Eve, to wear their ugliest Christmas sweater, and they were welcome to bring some kind of food if they wanted. He’d followed it up after a few seconds with another that said “And before you ask Capsicle yes you can bring your stupid husband”. They didn’t get any other details after that other than he promised he could get them to their families by Christmas morning so they didn’t need to worry about flights if that was necessary (that only really applied to Sam though since he had his sister and nephews).

When Christmas Eve rolled around Steve found himself entering the headquarters with a plate of freshly baked Christmas cookies and his husband Bucky, wearing a red sweater covered in reindeer. Bucky’s was a Hanukkah featuring a cat playing with Dreidel that Steve had gotten him because of how much his husband loved their car Alpine. He didn’t really expect the other to wear it too much but he loved it.

Most of the others were already there when they arrived, seated on the couches in the sitting room. Someone, probably Tony since he organized this, had put up a tree in the corner of the room and some other festive decorations. Christmas music was playing from a speaker he couldn’t see. Some food was already out on the table and the Avengers who had arrived were chatting about something he didn’t hear because Tony interrupted to greet them as they approached.
