EXCUSE ME UH WHERE WAS THIS. I NEED THIS SCENE. LET THIS MAN WORRY ABOUT HIS DAUGHTER AND FEEL HORRIBLE. If this scene actually happened I would have been more empathetic for King Peppy instead of seeing him as a untrustworthy man (that’s just how I see him).

I would have really love to see him more upset and crying of his lost daughter. I mean he did say he “felt like a failure as a father” to therapist Dinkles BUT I WANT TO SEE THE PAIN, THE TEARS, THE SELF SHAMING. Show don’t tell, ya know? Just more emotional shown through body language or actions than told.

I know they probably did the whole “therapist Dinkles” to keep it lighthearted for kids but I would have loved if it wasn’t planned as a joke. But it’s a kid’s movie. I can at least dream of an alternative scenario.

it's not like I don't believe jason or tim would react well to finding out dick let them belive he was dead. it's just that I don't think they would act like they do in grayson #12 tbh.

jason reaction is just peak bad prime earth characterisation where he's just an impulsive brute who cAN't COntrOL hIS EMotIONS and thus immediately punches dick, which. whatever. his anger as written before could've been so much more interesting, the conflict arising from this much more cutting and devastating. he would also see this as confirmation of some of the worst things he's suspected about how dick feels about him and how dick kowtows to bruce and be absolutely brutal about that, and dick would react by lashing out about jason's hypocrisy and jason would insist on all the ways his situation was different and they would go on hurting each other and it would be MESSY and really really interesting to read.

and tim? tim would not just accept this at face value, he'd dig deep, he wouldn't rest until he found out all the details because he'd KNOW something was off, and dick would try to stop it because does NOT want tim to know about what went down between him and bruce (except maybe some small part of him wants someone to know. but not tim, he'd want to protect tim's "innocence" in this, or at least tim's relationship with bruce). and tim would've also been impatient about jason being too distracted by his own hurt and his own feelings instead of pushing them aside (like tim's doing) to see that something is wrong and they need to get to the bottom of things stop making this about you omg.

also, though I don't mind it in this context, as a contrast to everyone else, and it didn't feel as jarring to me- I would've preferred a... quietly hurt damian. idk, I've been jumping through jason's nu52 appearances so I haven't seen if he got to react to finding out about dick "dying" while damian himself was gone, but can you imagine how that would've felt... yes, he would be SO HAPPY to see dick again but that doesn't erase the rest. and seeing damian hurt in such an unmasked way would've been so devastating to dick, and something he would've had to face directly while jason's and tim's own reactions would've been Problems he'd have to manage.

basically ''give everyone complicated messy feelings about this and make it more heartbreaking'' is my whole philosophy with the bat clan and it could've made things more interesting to me.

(a side of "can bruce enjoy some Consequences" would be nice but i'm not asking that from prime earth stories, I'm not new here)

sometimes you get diagnosed with ADHD as an adult which finally makes your mom actually listen to what ADHD actually is and that she didn't cure it by making me do 100 jumping jacks as a kid when I got too hyper and then she realizes that she may have it too

And then you both realize that like 70% of the family probably also has adhd and that's why we are all Like That

#adhd #not art #like???? my moms side of the family were always weird to everyone but us #so informal and go with the flow and peppy but cycle through hobbies like toilet paper #never any drama bc we forget that we got mad and just get over it and were generally nice to people #we never learned to set boundaries with other people bc we all had invisible understood nd boundaries #and just didnt ask each other weird questions #like turns out we r just a super nd family???? but it makes sense??? #my 2 cousins were diagnosed as kids but they were the only ones that was when adhd was starting to be understood as a childhood disability #but you only got diagnosed if u were getting bad grades etc so me and my sister got overlooked and everyone else was too old #but DEF my granny has combined like me and my mom has hyperactive type and probably my uncle as well #and my great aunt bipolar i wouldnt be surprised if she had comorbidities her daughter idk tho #great grandparents hard to say but i wouldn't be surprised and time will tell with cousins kids #would not be surprised to see some autism in there im sure my sis on the spectrum and i may be too but with adhd its hard to differentiate #anyway this is a v personal post but its kinda crazy to look back and be like huh #thats why the fam dynamic is so different from everyone elses #we dont talk to each other for years but relationships dont deteriorate in our heads so nbd #now my dads side....my dad does have a lot of adhd symptoms as well as his dad #plus Alzheimers runs thru there which has a slight predilection for adhd anyway #why would a bunch of intelligent chatty anxious and kind people choose to live in the middle of nowhere and have silly hobbies #why neurodivergency my friend #ANYWAY the culture shock of moving away from that as a child and my parents remarrying neurotypicals who didnt understand the dynamics #dunno if it was the southern thing or the nt thing but turns out the normal way i always interacted with my parents #was seen by others as deeply disrepectful mean teenager nonsense that should be culled #shout out to the nd kids with nd parents who just spoke to each other like adults and played with each other like kids #this is TOO MANY TAGS thats how u know the vyvanse kicked in #personal

I think King Peppy has a father's heart

If a kid of one of the leaders of any of the other troll tribes came to Peppy's kingdom begging the Pop Trolls for help to free their family and tribe from the Rock Trolls' clutches, I can see Peppy tearing up in compassion for the kid as his heart as a father trumps his fear of other tribes.

He may be afraid of the other tribes at the start of Trolls World Tour, but I'm pretty sure he has a father's heart.
