Sorry, but I find few things more boring in a franchise than when writers take a morally complex and compelling character wash out everything that makes them complex and compelling, leaving only the "good" parts left.

For example, Dinobot in the 2021 IDW comic Beast Wars reboot. Dinobot here is aggressive, sure, but his only other defining character trait is that he's very honorable. He's a "good guy" right away.

The original 1996 Beast Wars Dinobot was honorable... But that was heavily contrasted with his violent nature, his desire for control, his cunning, and his self-centered thinking. Because he had all these negative traits and because he wasn't a "good guy" like the rest of the Maximals, he's complex and compelling. His arc was dynamic because there was somewhere for his character to actually change from.

Sanitizing a character isn't creating a "fresh new take". Rather, just making an interesting character boring, predictable, and so "palatable" that there's no real flavor to them.

That cowl literally aged him 30 years. It is admittedly one of the few actually practical gear choices but seriously.

This costume looks 10 times better after he let his hair down, and that mask is still reasonably practical (personal opinion)

Specifically with the Gluttonous Sin of Beelzebub being my favorite Sin of the group (not necessarily in Helluva Boss, but just in general), I wanted to make a ranking list of my favorite Queen Bee redesigns and their creators for really no other reason than I just feel like it. Now, this is all personal opinions and should not be taken to heart by any means, it's just for fun:

#1. "Beelzebub & Bibi" by @gravcore

♡ In terms of an actual redesign of the original, I love how this artist made "Bibi" because, for one thing, they made sense of the originals hair by giving her a ponytail since way too many characters have a mohawk style (Loona included); two, I cannot explain just how much I adore the clothes they gave her. The top is actually insect based and gorgeous, and not some recolor version of Loona's outfit; and third, they made canon Bee her own character rather than a royal because nothing about the OG read "Ancient Sin" to anybody.

♡ Now, in terms of the actual Beelzebub, here, she's legitimately stunning. Rather than a redesign, I can tell this was the original long before the Queen Bee episode came out, and I love how it reads both "70's party girl" and "regal ruler" all in one. That, and the actual bug design aspect and the color scheme. Above all else, I love how they incorporated the lava stomach in her design, too.

#2. "Beelzebub" by @s3tok41b4

♡ This design can best be described as a literal re-imagine of the canon Beelzebub as it shares almost all her similarities with the actual bug aspect to it that it desperately needed. It's legitimately simplistic but still appealing to the eye, futher showing us that Viv was perfectly capable of making something so simple, but actively chose to make it more confusing than it had to be.

#3. "Beelzebub" by @ruinxl0ve

♡ Similar to the first two, this shares both a regal and party girl bug aesthetic with the added bonus of actually being beautifully emotive despite not even having a mouth. I feel this beautifully differentiates the design from the original while also making it recognizable and I feel that it kinda feeds into the original concept that Queen Bee could literally "feel the vibe", hinting to her being an empath in some manner.

#4. "The Three Bees" by @onehelluvatime

♡ Long story short, these are three individual versions of the Queen Bee and her new placing within the Hellaverse outside of the canon one. For more in-depth explanation of these interpretations, it's best to check the blog yourself. Truly, I love these designs not only because of the visual redesigns themselves, but also the well-crafted and creative explanations and backgrounds regarding these characters. I especially like the idea that the hellhounds within society are half-undead with skull-like appendages and facial aspects.

#5. "Spontaneous Beelzebub" by @redd-byrd

♡ I know it's essentially the same as the canon design, but with the small tweaks that were made to this one (the giant "Bee Butt", the added black lines, the actual bug-like wings, the blue-thin eyes), all of them give a more clear indication (at least to me) that this Bee is more higher up than her fellow hellhounds, meaning she looks a lot more like a hybrid thus making her more grand. It's nice how they added these small details for improvement while still essentially leaving the design like its original.

Listen, I've been around the blocks a couple of times already, and shows that don't want to make a popular queer ship canon often just absolutely RUINS whatever they have created between the two characters so if we don't get canon Buddie, I don't fucking care as long as they keep giving us Buddie scenes. Like, if the price of having Buddie or Buckley-Diaz family scenes is hearing them call each other brother or having completely useless prop girlfriends then whatever. We'll just create our own Buddie headcanons and interpolate their scenes together and survive instead of them not having any or minimum scenes together.

I think anyone who looks at Harry and ever considers him prey has grossly misunderstood his character and how utterly terrifying he is, was, can, and will always be to Tom in particular.

Don't get me wrong, the power imbalance and gap in skills can be compelling to play with, but Harry was made a threat to Tom by Fate.

Tom himself dictated that this boy would be his equal, and any equal to Voldemort could never be considered anything less than another predator.

Based on this post by @derinthescarletpescatarian I have compiled a 1 to 10 score of how anoying I think the bad kids could be in school.

Adaine Abernant: pros: Quiet, hardworking, keeps her messy personal life mostly off school grounds. Has a very cute orb based farmiliar that she will.let others hold when having panic attacks. Neutral: has a posh accent. Older sister is bitch. Relitive disinterest in social scene. Cons: wore another school's uniform on the first day of school. Also came with a 2 ft diameter focus. Killed the lunch lady with a laddle on the first day of school so is probably violent. Family was rich. Not clear if she is rich....but if you hate rich people she seams like fair game. If you get in her face and anoy her she will tell you exactly what she thinks which can be mean. Also she's the elven oracle. But that seams to be anoying her more than anyone else. Since most of her anoying traits seamnto be anoying her rather more than anyone else ingive her a 4/10 +/- 2 for anoying.

Kristen applebees. Pros: no longer trying to convert people to her God. A boon for people watchers everywhere. Easy to avoide. Fun to watch. Not intentionally crule. Cons: messy personal life. Messy liturgical life. Awkward. Makes inappropriate jokes. 5/10+/- .5

Fig Faeth pros: Easy to avoid. (Just go to bard class) pretty cool about being famous. Seams Generally nice. Con: turns into other people to probe for information. So you think your talking to your best friend but its actually fig. Smells like clove cigarettes so bad for people with sensitive noses. Loud music may also disterb other students with sensitive ears. Generally seams to be fucking around at school while still multiple teachers favorite. 5/10 +/-4.5 if she's directly harmed you you probably hate her....but otherwise she's great.

Riz Gukgak. Pros: quiet, hardworking, relitivly reserved. Cons: awkward, high-strung, questionable fashion choices. Tried to eat the corpse of vice principal Goldenhorde. Moms a cop. 3/10 +/-1

Fabian Aramais Seacaster. Pros: generous and welcoming host. Opened his home up as a study/hang out space for everyone even freshmen. Fun to watch. Cons: rich trustfund baby who's dad's pirating may have lead o the financial ruin of your loved ones. Swings wildly between toxic masculinity as a highschool jock and the most flamboyant dude you ever met. Once shit himself in class. Drive a presumably loud motorcycle.If you have issues with money, privilege, and showboating this dude will push all your buttons. 7/10 +/-3

Gorgug Thistlespring. Pros. Soft-spoken, sweet, donated all his money to a forest reclamation project. Had a long term girlfriend and cause no drama when they broke up. Cons: awkward. Spent freshman year asking everyone if they were his dad. Keeps butting heads with barbarian teacher which is painfully to watch. Also plays really loud music on headphones. And once turned the artifice class into a jam session so loud that other teachers had to get involved. Also has a shitty bird construct name cloaca. Really unclear weather this kid us a genius, and idiot, or both. Going though his mean girl phase.....but still pretty nice. Also his parents may have sold your parents a sex lawn mower. 4/10 +/-2

I really hate how "trans man" has become synonymous with "a man with a vagina." I was watching this debate between gay men about whether or not they'd date trans men, and for those who said no, it all came down to "I wouldn't date trans men because I'm not interested in people who don't have a penis," which is a valid opinion to have, but it really just made me wonder "what about the trans men who had phalloplasty? Or metoidioplasty? What about the trans men who do have a penis?"

This is a thing I've been noticing a lot lately. It seems like everybody has just forgotten that trans men with penises actually exist. The fact that trans men with penises are not even considered in a debate like this is really quite telling, and it irks me. I want them to be considered too.

Trans men can have penises. They may not be the same as cis penises, but they can be quite similar. And as a trans man struggling with bottom dysphoria, I would appreciate it if this source of dysphoria wasn't seen as my most defining feature as a trans man.

When I'm having a crappy day at work, I sometimes visit "L'Ami du Peuple" during my lunch break. It tends to put all the petty day-to-day stuff into perspective…

During the quieter moments, like today, when room 55 is nearly empty, I can't help but notice a pattern. Every single visitor, upon entering, pauses before the painting.

They do a double-take at the painting's name and give him another look. Some snap a photo they'll probably never look at again.

Then they move on.

Most of them likely have no clue who he is. They don't know he's holding a note from his assassin. If they even notice "L'An Deux" written at the bottom, they're probably confused by it.

But still, for those 30 seconds, David's brushstrokes exquisitely forming the face of this stricken man make them pause. What makes them linger? Is it the vaguely familiar name? The face they've seen on numerous posters and leaflets? The unsettling quiet brutality of the piece?

It doesn’t really matter why. Because, for that half-minute, through their eyes, he exists. He is present. He is contemporary.

2. I believe that the Palestinians people have a right to their own country. And so do I.

3. Yes, the Israeli government done a huge mistake by making Hamas stronger and weakening the Palestinian Authority.

4. I don’t want all Palestinians to die. I just don’t want to be constantly threatened by Hamas. Hamas is a terrorist organization and can act only as such.

5. During the 7.10 massacre some of friends and colleagues were murdered and some of them were kidnapped by Hamas. Hamas Attack is well documented by Hamas itself as well as by foreign intelligence agencies.

6. From what i know, even though there are those who want Israel to commit genocide towards the Palestinians, most of israelis don’t support it and oppose it.

7. Again, I don’t want Palestinians to die. I only want to live here in peace, and i want my friends and colleagues who are in captivity in gaza to return home.

to be completely honest

the actor who portrays chiaron in the pjo show? he looks relatively similar to how I always imagined Paul Blofis to look, obviously with human legs, I imagined him on the shorter side, as a skinned character who was a bit worn down in age, I can hear all with your requests of Ryan Renold to play Paul, but I just can't seem to wrap my mind around there a character that I have built in my mind of Paul blofis, and also I just have a hard time imagining Ryan playing a principle, I agree with the statements that sally deserves a good looking man who will care for her, and I can't argue with the fact that walker and Renolds have amazing chemistry I just don't think it has a big possibility of actually happening

HI. i just wanna appreciate emily rohm’s acting as jane doe for a minute and do a little character assessment. not only does she have an absolutely stunning voice, her acting and detail work is incredible, and i can tell just from one time watching the show all the way through.

there is an acting technique where you sort of assign your character body language based on what they lead with. there are head characters, heart characters, and hip characters.

heart characters are feelings-based and tend to lead with their chest when they are moving. hip characters tend to be very confident and dare i say have a certain “swagger” to them. but i wanna talk about head characters.

something i’ve noticed about jane is that she is very much a head character. she leads with her nose a lot (for example when she looks somewhere she turns her entire head to look rather than just looking with her eyes, and she leans her head slightly forward whenever she walks and her weight is shifted forward.) head characters are considered to be thinkers, leading with their brain rather than their feelings.

emily rohm’s choice to make jane a head character is so genius. jane has a disconnect from her soul, and therefore from her feelings. she does not know who she is, so she cannot feel with the same perspective that all of the other characters do. she does not speak of her hopes and dreams (which is something that heart characters tend to be known for doing), she just desperately wants to know who she is. she leads with her head, because, what else does she have to lead with? her identity has been stripped away, so her only perspective is what is in front of her, and what she can remember. she seems to constantly be assessing everything.

also it’s ironic that she’s a head character considering that she doesn’t have a head.
