Current run down of training plans for this neglected blog because all the details get posted on instagram:
Thyme:
Aiming for his TDX, TCh and progress towards CDX, RM, TS1, RATG
Working on maintaining connection/engagement between exercises while in the ring. He’s got a tendency to get zoomies between activities so giving him “in between tasks”.
Working on focus stamina a lot. Our heeling patterns at this level go for 4-5minutes so that’s a long time to hold himself in a moving-position.
Left turns: our ongoing weakness. I am prioritising left turns above most things because he does not get it worked on much. Left turn is just a 90degree left. Left about turn - he goes right. Right turn - he goes right. Right about turn - he goes right. Way too much right turn and not enough left is making for him offering right turns all the time.
Side steps left: falls under turning left and is about smoothing up the mechanics and making sure our pivots don’t look like an anal gland butt scoot. I hate that style with a passion.
Coming into a heel after taking a jump. This is for rally but his rehersal is heavily skewed to obedience taking it straight and agility taking multiple. So need to get more reps of return to heel in.
Jackpots on my person even when training. He’s gotten anticipatory of a remote reward leading to him forgoing or skewing towards where he think the reward is.
Stays : both sit and drop have come along very well with habituating it and working on stamina and overall making it a bit very exciting exercise instead of an anticipation vibrate exercise
Thorn:
Too young to trial. Too hot to bikejor
Attention is the main game with Thorn. I’m working through a range of exercises, games and training set ups from the Tromplo course. Including critical acclimatisation routine to sniff and explore outside rings before entering.
Positions in heel. Thorn has grasped the positions signals and verbals, although needs some polishing, so now he’s learning how to do the same positions from a standing heel position to mimic obed and rally.
Heeling in general: taking advantage of social learning and Thorn is also learning to side step left in heel as part of the greater picture. Got a lot of exercises from is Heelwork to Heavenwork course that don’t rely heavily on props or luring.
Fetch: building in the feelings of anticipation and enthusiasm, alongside stillness and eye contact for the chance to retrieve. His grip is getting much better and he has a nice straight out and back approach happening.
Hold: take from hand and remain stationary hold is coming along. Currently focussing on stillness and eye contact. He struggles at proximity with me for this, so working at a distance where he’s comfortable to face me head on. He has been taking in both sit and stand positions.
Social lead walking is new to thorn but it’s coming along. It follows similar principles to changing gaits in bikejoring although he’s had his confuses moments where he’s mistaken it for a competitive pulling situation. But he’s understanding the light tensions without dragging criteria and matching hairs.
Recall: his recall has come along well enough that he’s been going offlead in dog areas. Not quite offlead hike worthy but good for a park or field. His up close check ins are not super frequent but he does throw glances over his shoulder often enough.
Thistle:
Thistle is in maintenance not training. This is looking like regular ongoing exposure to the market, dogs on lead, taking her on errands, socials, hydrotherapy, sniff walks etc. most of what she gets is management to ensure happy good experiences and this works well.
She does need help getting out of the new car. It’s higher than the other. Can still get in on her own.
Myself: taking lots of courses in consent based trainings and errorless training. Wow boy have my previous training venues been so wrong about how to train with positive reinforcement lmao. But I’m loving learning how to use it effectively and ethically, so much detail and nuance now that I’ve got resources that actually know their shut.
Courses are mostly being sourced from Tromplo with a heavy dose of force-free gundog manual and a high drive gundog book that hasn’t arrived yet but I will act most surprised when it does cause it’s a gift.

i took bystander intervention training today and it was fine (i did this one, they're free zoom webinars) but tbh i wish we had talked more about actual steps to take.......? it felt like they spent the first 45 minutes going over definitions of harassment, privilege, etc, and then had to fit everything else in at the end. i would have appreciated more concrete tips (like maybe how to read body language, nonviolent methods of self defense, etc...) i think it's still good to go and learn about indirect methods to intervene as a bystander though

Enhancing Microlearning with the DDE Framework: A Game-Changing Approach to Learning
Tumblr media
In the realm of education and professional development, microlearning has emerged as a powerful strategy for delivering targeted and engaging learning experiences. However, to truly maximize its effectiveness, microlearning must go beyond simply presenting information in bite-sized chunks. It must captivate learners' attention, foster engagement, and promote knowledge retention. Enter the DDE Framework for Game Design in Microlearning, a groundbreaking approach that combines the principles of game design with microlearning methodologies to create immersive and impactful learning experiences. In this article, we explore the key concepts of the DDE Framework and its potential to revolutionize the world of microlearning.
Understanding the DDE Framework:
The DDE Framework, which stands for Design, Develop, and Evaluate, provides a structured approach to integrating game design principles into microlearning content. It emphasizes the importance of thoughtful design, iterative development, and continuous evaluation to create compelling and effective learning experiences. Let's delve into each component of the DDE Framework:
Design:
The design phase involves conceptualizing the overall structure and mechanics of the microlearning game. This includes defining learning objectives, identifying target audience demographics, and outlining gameplay elements such as challenges, rewards, and feedback mechanisms.
Design decisions are informed by pedagogical principles and instructional design best practices to ensure that the game effectively addresses learning goals and promotes active engagement.
Develop:
During the development phase, the conceptual design is brought to life through the creation of interactive game elements, multimedia assets, and user interfaces. Game mechanics are implemented to facilitate player interaction and progression through the learning content.
Development efforts are focused on optimizing the user experience, ensuring that the game is intuitive, immersive, and responsive to player actions. Iterative prototyping and testing are conducted to refine and improve the game's design and functionality.
Evaluate:
The evaluation phase involves assessing the effectiveness of the microlearning game in achieving its intended learning outcomes. This includes gathering feedback from players, analyzing gameplay data, and measuring learning performance against predefined metrics.
Evaluation findings are used to identify areas for improvement and inform iterative design iterations. Continuous evaluation and refinement ensure that the game remains relevant, engaging, and aligned with learner needs and preferences.
Key Principles of the DDE Framework:
The DDE Framework is guided by several key principles that underpin its effectiveness in enhancing microlearning experiences:
Engagement through Gamification:
By incorporating game elements such as challenges, rewards, and competition, the DDE Framework leverages the motivational power of gamification to captivate learners' attention and promote active participation.
Gamified elements such as points, badges, and leaderboards incentivize learners to engage with the content, driving motivation and fostering a sense of accomplishment.
Interactivity and Immersion:
Interactive gameplay mechanics and immersive storytelling techniques create an engaging and dynamic learning environment. Learners are actively involved in decision-making and problem-solving, leading to deeper levels of comprehension and retention.
Immersive multimedia elements such as rich graphics, animations, and sound effects enhance the sensory experience, stimulating multiple senses and reinforcing learning outcomes.
Personalization and Adaptivity:
The DDE Framework emphasizes the importance of personalization and adaptivity in catering to individual learner needs and preferences. Game mechanics are designed to dynamically adjust to each player's skill level, pace, and learning style.
Personalized feedback and guidance provide learners with targeted support and encouragement, helping them navigate through challenges and achieve mastery of the learning content.
Data-Driven Decision-Making:
Data analytics play a crucial role in the evaluation phase of the DDE Framework, providing valuable insights into player behavior, engagement patterns, and learning outcomes. This data-driven approach enables educators and instructional designers to make informed decisions and iterate on the game design to optimize learning effectiveness.
Performance metrics such as completion rates, time spent, and knowledge retention rates are analyzed to assess the impact of the microlearning game and identify areas for improvement.
Applications of the DDE Framework in Microlearning:
The DDE Framework has wide-ranging applications across various domains and industries, including corporate training, education, healthcare, and beyond. Some examples of how the DDE Framework can be applied in microlearning include:
Employee Onboarding and Training: Gamified microlearning modules can be used to introduce new hires to company policies, procedures, and culture in an engaging and interactive manner.
Skill Development and Upskilling: Microlearning games can provide employees with opportunities to practice and apply job-related skills and competencies in a risk-free environment.
Product Knowledge and Sales Training: Sales teams can benefit from interactive microlearning games that simulate real-world sales scenarios and reinforce product knowledge and selling techniques.
Compliance Training: Gamified microlearning modules can make compliance training more engaging and memorable by presenting complex regulatory information in a fun and interactive format.
