Pet Memorial Gifts: Grieving the Loss of a Pet
According to research, the loss of a pet is as equally painful as that of losing a family member or a friend. There are various steps you can take to help you cope with this loss. Besides getting various pet memorial gifts, you can add self-care essentials. These steps help ensure that you do not drown in sorrow and instead maintain a good mental state to process the loss.
Personal Grief
The world moves fast, and people are constantly busy and distracted by various life occurrences. Most grieving people often feel angry that the outside world has not paused or slowed down to allow them to deal with the pain inside their hearts. Give yourself time to handle all your emotions. Give yourself time to grieve and feel all the emotions in their completeness. Releasing the feelings at regular intervals allows you to heal. Avoiding these emotions causes more pain in your healing journey.
Reflect on your Favorite Moments with your pet
Active reflection is difficult after a loss. You can do it through storytelling to other people or recorded videos, through writing, or by designing keepsakes such as pet memorial gifts. Reflecting on the positives of your life together creates positive emotions. Ensure not to hide in this method to avoid pain. In grief, both must be experienced in equal measure for healing to take place.
Identify a Calming Practice
The loss of a pet and the following grief may lead to increased tension and anxiety when in public gatherings and social obligations. Find something that can help you stay focused and not feel overwhelmed. These involve breathing exercises, meditation, or even using portable memorial gifts to find comfort. For instance, you can get a part of your pet in a neck chain or bracelet and pat it whenever you feel sad.
Grief is a highly individualized process, and people deal with it differently. Accept pet memorial gifts as part of your grieving process. Reflect on your life with the pet and find healing over time.

I dont usually post things like this, but this is Buttercup, (not the best name, I'm aware. But I was put on the spot) my bearded dragon.
This is kind of stupid, but she reminds me a bit of Toothless in the sense that part of her tail was missing, though she came that way (young beardies are very fragile so they're often missing toes or tail tips but it does nothing to impead their quality of life), I got her after a summer of volunteering at a reptile shop and becoming enamored with bearded dragons, and today marks the two year anniversary of her death.
I don't belive in an afterlife, so there's not any kind of 'she's looking down on me from pet heaven', she's just gone. Her tank was sanitized and sold, and I've still not done anything with her ashes since I never found the motivation. I know reptiles of her nature don't feel love in the same sense mammals do, so I can't exactly say she died knowing she was loved, but she trusted me, and that's the closest they get and I can live with that. I remember I'd sit in front of her tank for hours and just observe her, she was so full of life and her every little movement was absolutely fascinating to me. She was a truly beautiful creature. I loved the texture of her scales, the comforting little pin prick feeling of her claws when she'd climb on me, the little eyelash like scales around her eyes. I miss her. I miss her so much.
I'm not very good at processing loss, and as bad as it sounds, tend to get over the deaths of human family members relatively fast. This is the first time I've truly gotten hung up about this type of thing, and I'm not quite sure what to do with that.
I know this is kind of depressing, but I just figured I'd post something to have and be able to look back on.
