QOTS ep 509 thoughts
Ha, I moved fast with this one. I cannot believe we have 1 episode left and then it's done. I feel like I should dress fancy for next week. And let's enjoy the ride! :)
!!! Spoilers from this point !!!
Tumblr media
I LOVED:
- Jeresa: champagne for everyone, we (almost) won! They love each other, it's canon, they are a couple now (they are, don't @ me) and sleep together, eat breakfast together, plot together, pretty sure they're gonna grow old together. I am not good at "softness" and "heart eyes" analysis, I am sure others are so I'm looking forward to read this from them. But in all honesty, I got a bit weak in the knees from the way they played out the scenes, chemistry and all that Peter x Alice usually do on screen. I still have some things on my Jeresa list that I need to cross, so 510 better deliver. These soft fictional puppies deserve the best! And can we also find that song that played in the background? Fun fact: apparently, it was scripted for both James and Teresa to say their ILYs in that rooftop scene, but Alice wanted to change it for the morning after, to make it more surprising and impactful right before the scene with Kostya (from Dailyn's mouth aka Twitter).
- James: omg, apart from being vindicated for his endless Teresa love (good for you, bb!), can we also talk about his last scene with Devon? The first time I saw it I was so torn: why would he show so much emotion to this guy, why the anger and torment, why so many feelings from the same character that was once called robot-killer-puppy or something along these lines. Did we ever see James have that many lines & showing emotion apart from when with Teresa? But then the episode ended and I got it. It was actually acting within acting (aka throwing breakcrumbs at us and faking it with Devon for the finale). And Peter was excellent, I was shocked! Mind you, I (like to think that I) don't know him from other roles apart from this one, so seeing this on screen gave me a serious case of mindfuck 🤯
- Teresa: well look who's back with her emotions and feelings. Good for you too, bb! You deserve the best sex, with all the soft looks that James gives you, all the happiness of staying in bed & staring at each other for the rest of your other lives 🥂
- the (assumed) ending: I am fully onboard with the fake death plot (it was in my expected ending list). We are 80% wining so far and it feels good. We have one more hurdle until 100%, but apparently we’re on that track. This is how I see it: James and Teresa planned this way ahead, probably before this episode, most likely individually, and then when they got back together they shared ideas (or as someone @jerepars put it, multitasked in bed); Teresa is probably taking something similar to what El Santo gave her in season 3 to stop her heart/body to function temporarily (and not coke as it had been implied the whole season); James, as the perfect sniper that he is, shot her exactly where he would know it won’t mush her vital organs. She will most likely go into hiding and James will probably have to do one last sacrifice in order for Pote & KA to be safe as well. There are some spoilers going around, but I won't mention them as they are not official. But all in all, pretty sure it's the good ending we're getting.

I DISLIKED:
- the season 5 overall plot & pacing: as much as I like getting my wishes fulfilled, my recurrent issues with the show still stand. I understand it was the last season, there were limitations from the pandemic and also from the shorter episode-order. BUT, that does not connect with cutting the pie differently than they did in the other seasons for the recurring, extras or guests vs the main characters. And making us ride again the James-cannot-be-trusted merry-go-round. I will definitely rant more about this in my (last?) episode analysis next week.
- Kote: when are you two not on this list? Haha. But seriously, you really ruin a perfectly perfect episode. Our Jeresa episode, ffs! KA, can you move faster with your pregnancy, please? You are still 2 months preggo and it's annoying. Pote, srsly, you too move the fuck faster with your snooping around and stop taking Jeresa time. Your whole picket fence storyline could've gone faster than James' bullets: 10 secs move in, 10 secs meet the neighbours and get to that bbq (?!?), 10 secs kill the raccoon, 10 secs do some bonding with the un-suspicious neighbours, 20 secs to get that IKEA crib up ('cause IKEA!) and that's that on that. Look, Dailyn, 1 full minute! And also, Pote had to be an ass to KA multiple times because it wasn't obvious from their previous long ass-scenes this season. Peak ass-wholeness? Coming to save Teresa out of nowhere and then calling KA before leaving for Belize, just as an FYI, babe.
- Jeresa: 1. the first half of the episode, I was really disappointed in the pacing and sub-plots, thinking they wouldn't give us more than that kiss and probably mix it with some Teresa usual coldness; 2. listen, don't shoot, sometimes I might have unpopular opinions, and as much as I loved that I got the ILY + sex scenes, at this rate and moment in time (of the show), I would've strongly preferred a good, consistent Jeresa talk about, hmm, I don't know: James' last year activities with Devon or his disappointment with how she handled things lately (betraying Marcel, killing that cop, letting Boaz go), Teresa's coke (?!?) usage, her Queenpin transformation, Tony's death, the plain-bread-season 4-hookup, KG's death, etc. etc. I get it, the actors have massive chemistry and the characters have been so attuned to one another from the start. But that doesn't excuse the disrespect for the series origin or have to cancel the viewer's experience. Not everyone can read a scene the same way, not everyone can interpret little breadcrumbs or easily make past seasons connections. So I am still waiting for some words with those heart eyes in the 10 seconds scenes we're gonna get in the last episode. Prove me wrong if you planned more, oh-powerful-show-runners!
- Boaz: his part confuses me, especially because at times he’s out of nowhere, and other times he is two steps ahead of Teresa and I don't like that; initially I thought James will be the one to kill him, but there's no gratification there (as there is no connection either, since apparently they don't know each other anymore). So I guess Pote is the winner for that job, pew pew!
- Chicho: what have they done to you, man? I mean, yes, I am happy you got consistent lines, the Nola business and maybe even some romance in your life (Samara *wink wink*, cause I just love to play matchmaker), but calling Pote back, of all the people. And behind Teresa & James' backs. No no no no no.
- the intro / hijacking of Samara: why, that wasn't obvious at all.
- the Tuckers: this plot is not obvious either; pretty much - they are Devon's people or FBI; waiting for the other shoe to drop next episode, cause these wannabes will be there for the final, of course.

Surprised Pikachu:
- James in a scene with the Pilot QueenPin. And look at them with their married energy. I cannot wait to re-watch this series s1-s3!
- Kostya being an official diplomat (good plot potential) and building him up for a full season, only to get him killed in a 20 sec scene.
- everyone being armed to the teeth in that lovely Little Rock suburb.
- Samara being the girl from the Pilot QueenPin intro: I love it and I don't.
- the drugs again, and right under James' nose: at this rate it's either that one thing that is keeping Teresa undead after being sniped (connected to James' CIA goodies bag or El Santo) or it will be pushed under a rug; my bet is on the first one, as these show-runners keep throwing me off with how they still manage to close some plots, which is...good?!
1 more episode left, the most important one! I will miss this experience so much, especially because it happened during these weird times that we are living - isolation, working from home / another country. The middle of the week got really exciting for me - prepping my breakfast each Thursday morning waiting for the episode to load in the USA Network app, not looking at spoilers, but afterwards reading my feed with all the live reactions and not being able to be part of that…❤️🥺
Again, thank you for reading up to this point. I would love to know everyone's thoughts on this one :)
