Every hand on every clock in the universe stopped the second Harry saw Peter motionless on the ground. The breath was stolen from his body and every emotion in the world choked up into his throat. MJ sobbed, but he couldn’t even manage that. Shaky breaths were all he could give as he saw his best friends, his partner, and his lover's eyes close. So soon after getting him back, after getting the perfect fairy-tale relationship he’d always wanted after finally starting to feel comfortable of course life would want to wrest it away from him.

Parker luck was one thing, but it was nothing compared to Osborn hubris.

It was the only reason he didn’t notice right away, the inky black suit melted off his body, and onto Peter’s. Unsure if he was doing this himself, all he could do was watch as the very thing that kept him alive slipped seamlessly onto Peter’s body; Coating his suit, then head, then face. With a start, Peter woke up, and all Harry could do was cling to him. Cling so tightly it hurt every muscle in his arm to tense around Peter. MJ was there too, feeling the same mix of terror and relief that he was. He was sure of it.

“What happened?!” Peter exclaimed.

“I- I don’t know!” Harry said, hugging awkwardly around MJ.

A few small tears slipped past Harry’s closed eyes, but before he could even start thanking whatever deities he could think of, Hunters came down from a hole in the roof. Rappelling down from helicopters and surrounding them. All three stood up, but only MJ stepped away. Harry stayed, staring at Peter who immediately took on a battle stance. “Get him outta here MJ!” Peter yelled, but Harry didn’t move. It wasn’t until MJ was pulling him away that he finally started to run. Just before they managed to get out of the greenhouse, Harry looked behind them. His eyes went wide as he saw the burst of alien goo from Peter before he started a vicious beatdown.

He’d never seen him like that before.

It took a bit actually to get out of the abandoned zoo-turned-compound, thankfully all the hunters were on Peter, which meant none of them were in their way. The second they’d made it to the front gate, a beat passed before they immediately clung to each other in a hug neither of them knew could be that tight. MJ’s breathing was much more even than this though, so she took the lead. She walked them both forward keeping a hand on Harry’s chest. “In through the nose, out through the mouth,” she coached. Harry tried his best to follow her instruction but found himself delving into ‘hyperventilating’ territory every so often. “We need to find somewhere relaxing…”

“Emily May.”

“Harry I don’t think-”

“No. No, it’s gotta be Emily May.”

That was home. That was where his heart lived. His and Peters.

How do you think the Peter/Harry plays out in the universe where Gwen is the one bitten by the spider and not Peter?

Well, we do have a canonical answer to that in the Spider-Gwen comics

But Earth-65 Harry and Gwen are quite different from their Earth-616 counterparts. Gwen especially is practically a whole new character, but Harry's ties to his blueprint are also pretty loose.

If you're asking what would have happened had Gwen been bitten instead of Peter in 616, I think the most important difference is the PeterGwen and PeterHarry dynamics would not be comparable to traditional 616 at all.

Without the lesson about responsibility and his subsequent maturing, Peter would have most likely remained not only selfish but largely uninterested in the complexities of other people. Meaning he would have never given Gwen nor Harry much reason to warm up to him. They would have attended the same college, but remained distant from one another.

His personality and even outward appearance would also be so drastically different that he would no longer represent the same things to Harry. Aside from the lack of warmth, he wouldn't have his big strong body, and instead of the comparatively mellowed out and stoic assertiveness traditional 616 Peter showed by that time, this unbitten Peter's insecurities would likely have remained much more evident. He'd come across more like a brasher and less sociable version of Harry than this unattainable image of who Harry thinks he should be.

Would there still be potential jealousy over MJ? Or over the respect of his father? I can't see MJ thinking much of this Peter. Since she can't recognize herself in him wearing a mask like she (metaphorically) does, she'd probably meet him once and forget about him. Ergo, she'd never even meet Harry either.

Norman, in the unlikely scenario that he became familiar with Peter somehow without being his nemesis or Harry introducing him, might actually see at least a little bit of what he believes his son lacks in Peter. Spider bite or no, Peter has a lot more spine and science savviness than Harry... and more apparent anger issues. So maybe there'd be some jealousy over that, but it wouldn't be the same obsessive overreaching envy we've come to know and love from traditional 616 parksborn.

A universe where Peter never got his powers and origin story is a universe where both he and Harry are bitter little chihuahua men who wouldn't be caught dead opening up to each other. Unless you write some alternate character and relationship growth for them, that's about the sum of it.

How would Gwen factor into this? Depends on what she does with her powers and how. A radioactive spider bite, as we know, tends to cause massive chain reactions that change a person forever. I appreciate Earth-65 Spider-Gwen for what she is but part of me always wanted a What If where prissy hothead 616 Gwen gets the bite lol. That, however, is a whole other can of worms I'd have to map out a whole new plotline of this alternate universe in my head for and its 3 am here so forgive me for not opening it right now

Harry would come over to Peters house to practice his singing for the next Glee Club performance. He didn't want to practice at home because Norman would scrutinise him too much about his pitch and tone and timbre. Even if his mom didn't do that, Norman absolutely would.

"How am I supposed to put on the perfect performance of the background harmonies in the pop culture Magnum Opus, Best Song Ever by culture gods One Direction with him getting on my case all the damn time!"

May told him not to swear in the house, and Peter giggled when he'd do it under his breath anyway. Only in the safety of his room, though, of course. May would have killed him otherwise.

Whenever Harry would practice after school, even if he was just doing the harmonies, even if he was supposed to blend in the background, Peter had stars in his eyes. Stars hung by Harry, giving him a private serenade every day like it was his job. Very privately, Peter hoped it was.

He could listen to Harry sing all day long.

okay. my peterharry rant for anyone interested. sorry to this poor anon but im gonna use this as an excuse to talk abt them.

peter and harry grew up together up until peter was 10 and harry was 11 ish. they were so close. when richard and mary passed, harry was right there to help peter figure it out bc peter was only, what, 8 years old? these children had to deal with such an incredible loss at such a young age. now in the tasm timeline they never say explicitly what happened to harrys mother, but in other canon she got sick and passed when harry was really young, so thats my canon. i think that mrs osborn was an incredible mother for harry, but it wasnt enough. and then she got sick and distant, and she passed, and harry pretended not to care. it was easier for him that way. then harry was sent away to boarding school when he was 11, and then he bounced around from country to country until he was 20. the only reason he came back to new york was because mr osborn was dying of retroviral hyperplasia, "the osborn curse", which harry has started to show symptoms of. also norman didnt tell harry this was genetic until he was already showing signs of having it, just gonna throw that out there. so harry comes back, his dads dead, he takes over this incredibly expensive company all on his own, and then in walks his childhood best friend that he hasnt seen in nearly ten years. and harrys scared at first, he doesnt know how to respond. peter comes and apologizes about harrys father, says he understands what its like and hes always gonna be there for whatever harry needs. he goes to leave, but harry stops him with a joke. harry jokes first, and the ice breaks. theyre right back to where they were years ago, like nothing changed. they spend the day walking around town, joking and catching up and just being together for the first time in years. then the next day, harry finally tells peter he's sick over the phone. peter goes to oscorp to check in on him, and this is when harry says that he thinks spidermans blood will cure him, bc of the self heal aspect of it. of course, peters incredibly wary, and he says that he'll try to get ahold of spiderman to help him. harry basically made him promise, because he doesnt want to end up sick and alone and dying. like his father. harrys continuously getting worse and worse but peter has other things going on, with electro out and trying to figure things out with gwen. harrys discovering secrets about oscorp but they dont like that, so hes fired. now, harry goes to team up to electro, and he basically considers peter an enemy at this point, because in his eyes peter turned him down and refused to save his life when all he had to do was get spiderman. so harry and electro team up now, so harry can get spidermans blood, then electro can do what he wants with him afterward. harry eventually figures out that they kept the venom of the spiders that turned peter into spiderman, so he has one of the staff bring him down there and inject him with it. thats whats starts the green goblin transition. theres a split second after the injection where harrys shaking stops. the pain is gone. his head is quiet. hes finally healthy. but somethings wrong. his body starts to change, he's dying at an incredibly faster pace now. his last hope is to desperately crawl to one of the suits in the room, which enables bodily regulation so hes able to function and be stable. peter finishes off his boss battle with electro while this is happening, he kills him, and hes talking to gwen about going to leave before he hears laughter and the glider engines circling above him. harry finally reveals himself, and he looks sickly. he looks incredibly ill and frail, but hes grinning wildly. peter asks him "harry...what did you do?" and harry just grins wider and replies "what you made me do. you were my friend and you betrayed me." peter claims that he was just trying to help and be the good guy, but harrys not buying it. harry says that peter pretends to give people hope, but he just takes it away, so now hes gonna take away peters. before peter can respond, harry has gwen and hes in the air, hovering for a bit before dropping into the clocktower.

peter goes after them and tries to catch her but has no luck, just hanging her with a web for now while he fights with harry. they fight before harrys knocked unconscious, and all of the cogs and dials of the clocktower fall apart. gwen falls, and peter immediately goes after her but shes too late. gwen hits the ground before peter can get to her, and she dies. now we dont see harry again until after her funeral, but hes been detained in ravencroft. he talks about building a team, which is alluded to be the sinister six team that wouldve been in the third movie if it hadnt been canceled. and im so mad that i was canceled.
