It’s kinda hot, having you here to wait on me hand and foot,” Pete commented back after a bit, toeing back over the line of playful as he said this, giggling and watching as Patrick peeked up shyly at him, the tops of his cheeks light pink from his words.

“Oh- Oh yeah?” He urged in a soft, curious hum, himself toeing the line between serious and joking, in case Pete was kidding. In case this was just a joke not worth inquiring into more. And initially, Pete didn’t intend it to be read into anymore- until Patrick was saying this, and Pete found his own cheeks flushing pink.

New painting!

For this fic! I believe it's by @shark-myths (if this is you hello I need to talk your ear off for 20 years about this fic)

A couple of weeks ago I read the fic I'm A Wing I'm A Prayer on AO3. I don't have a lot of experience reading fanfiction or fantasy, and I was completely floored by the craftsmanship in this story. I'm still (clearly) reeling from how moving it was. Art begets art and I couldn't stop thinking about painting the fic, but especially the graveyard scene.

I think part of what captured me about this scene is that I have often felt like Pete. Sleep deprived, run ragged, working faster than a human should but still never fast enough. Stinging hands and a difficulty communicating.

But where words fail and connection feels full of red tape, sexuality is a path back to feeling human. A language I can speak. Slow and intimate and silent, plucking clothes off one another like swan feathers. Sex as a confession of devotion, sex as a forgiveness to the self for having desires or wanting love. When the world is spinning out and you don't have control over your body, sexuality as a reclaiming of your vessel.

And I love the scene for the symbolism it's layered up in its story telling. Swan song comes to mind as this is the final act of humanity before losing each other. The beauty of the feathers falling among the graves and moonlight and stinging nettle, among the constant reminders of death. The difficulty Pete has with his hands, and the choice to use them anyways. The insistence that when the world doesn't recognize you I do. When you don't recognize yourself I do.

I want to grow in art so badly, and so I've challenged myself to use more references and to push meaningful details when painting. You can watch the process on my reels but it doesn't show how I was jumping between images of graveyards, swans, hands, Pete and Patrick, stinging nettle, bodies non stop. I really feel like it paid off and I'm happy to feel like for the first time I have a painting where the environment is equally show cased and adds depth to the subject. Thank you so much to the writer of the scene not only for telling such a beautiful story, but for making this moment so visually and emotionally full.

ok ok ok listen to me. school of rock fob peterick au. pete is the wild rock n roll guy in a failed punk band who just needs to scrape the money to pay his share of the rent, where he lives in a house with all his best friends who are pissed that he’s too broke to pay his rent. patrick used to be big in the scene but instead of continuing on with music when his band failed he told himself to get his shit together and became an incredibly uptight music teacher. pete is a TA for patrick and they clash at first, because pete only wants to play punk music and patrick wants to stick to the rules (BUT REALLY HES JUST AFRAID OF FAILURE!) and then there is the bar scene where pete takes him to a bar and puts on stevie nicks and patrick sings a lot and gets super drunk, and then he’ll agree to teach the kids stuff other than classical, and then pete will convince him to join battle of the bands or something idk I don’t have this planned out but do you see the vision

shouldn’t he feel insulted? isn’t it degrading being a stitch away from 40 and still flushing cherry-red at being called daddy’s pretty girl? pete blindly sticks a hand under his shirt and gropes at his chest like it’s a stress ball, his iron grip no doubt leaving bruises for future patrick to deal with. “what happened to your training bra baby?” pete asks in that fake sincere tone of his that always gets patrick’s cock leaking so much it feels like he wet himself. “i see your nipples through your shirt on almost every picture they post of you. you know wearing it is for your own good, right?”

“t-too small.” patrick stutters out, hiding his face in the crook between pete’s neck and shoulder. he blushes so hard that he can practically feel it go down to his fingertips. “i can’t- it won’t…” he nuzzles into pete’s skin in an attempt to bury himself in it and escape this conversation.

“oh, baby.” pete’s tone suggests he’s endearingly charmed by this situation. “it’s perfectly normal to grow out of it, you’re still developing.” he pulls patrick’s chin so that they’re making eye contact. well, pete is. patrick is looking very intensely at the ceiling. what a complex shade of white. pete gives a couple of slaps to patrick’s cheek. “look at me.” his tone is still comforting, parental almost. something that shouldn’t make patrick’s dick twitch.

he lets out a huffy exhale before turning his gaze to him. “i- i don’t like wearing them anyways. it feels weird even when they fit.”

“you just haven’t found the right one yet.” pete circles a nipple with his thumb and patrick has to bite his lip to prevent a girlish squeak from coming out. “we’ll get you fitted for a big girl bra and you won’t even feel it, I promise.” pete moves on to pinching the nipple, making patrick unable to prevent all the stupid little sounds he makes when pete gets him like this. “i’ll buy the most expensive one they have. just for my pretty baby. okay?”
