✨ Welcome to the first ever Peterpatter Fest ✨ 

From May 31st to June 6th 2021, we’re holding our first Peterpatter week! It’s brought to you by some of your favorite (I’m sure) Peterpatter writers (@sunsetcurveofficial, @daintyduck99, @tiriansjewel, @psyduckappears, and @nuandia) - so if you have any questions, wishes, etc. just hit us up here on the blog or shoot us a dm. Now, let’s get right into it. 

First off, can we just appreciate how absolutely beautiful and adorable the art is that @illgetmerope​ blessed us with? Lots of love your way. Now. 

Who can participate? 

Everyone! The goal is to share as many creative works together as we can during this fest. No matter what you’re good at or passionate about, it’s all welcome. Art, gifs, graphics, fics, playlists, moodboards, videos, podfics - we’re looking forward to all of it, and hope a lot of you join us to celebrate our two favorite dumbasses. 

How does it work?

We got three prompts for each day that you can either choose from to create whatever you wish to create, or you can combine them, too. Really, you can go totally wild with them! If you write fic, you could also write a multi-chapter using each day’s prompt in your new chapters. Or you write drabbles. Or one shots. Anything is allowed and welcome. Just make sure to tag us, so we can share your work. #peterpatterfest 

If you post your fics to AO3, there will also be a collection available that you can add to. We will share more info on that as we get closer to the fest.

What are the prompts?

Ah yes, the most important question. We picked three for each day, to make this fest as accessible to all kinds of art as possible. One of the prompts is more specific, while the others are more open - feel free to interpret them in whatever way you like! We’re just asking you to tag accordingly. Trigger warnings and sufficient tagging should be in place.

This fic started as a Day One response to the Fluff/We Always Have Each Other prompt, but it ended up including a lot of the others, so I'll be posting the rest on those days.

Summary: “Even if it’s not him right now,” Alex starts, “you could have like—the opposite of what Jamie and I had had. The whole soulmate thing is so fluid, you know? It could become him, if you both worked at it.”

Or: In a world where anyone 18 and older receives access to whatever songs their most compatible romantic partner, or current "soulmate," are humming or singing, Luke starts getting snippets of an original song, and he hopes they're from Reggie.

marks: replacement and renewal

Luke noticed the way Reggie was always littered with marks

How fresh bruises always seemed to find their way to the mountains of his ribcage or the plains of his shoulder

Even as he tried to conceal them behind layers of flannel and leather

Hiding his face from those who were keen enough to notice anyway

Luke’s heart burned with anger as he thought of Reggie’s parents

Knowing they were the ones imprinting his friend’s skin with purple, green, and red

How could they hurt their own child so

How could they bear to strike him when he was so kind and good and a million other positive adjectives scattered across the floor of Luke’s brain?

Luke wished to leave marks of his own too

Replacing the fading contusions of hate with blooming bruises of love

He wondered how his mouth would mould to Reggie’s skin

How he would taste and what he would sound like underneath Luke’s tongue and fingertips

Maybe he could change the meaning of blotched skin with just a little more time

Luke noticed the invisible marks as well

How Reggie built a protective shell around his soul with his dorky persona

How he gave and never took

How he shook with silent sobs in the pitch black of the studio

How he was never convinced that he was loved

How he ached with it all

Luke wished to mend those marks too, he wished to sew the jagged rips in Reggie’s heart shut with a thread of letters, strung together into a song.

He wished to sooth the scrapes on his soul with a salve of a tender touch, affection flowing into his fingerprints

He wished to love his boy until the contusions on his countenance faded away into the lights of the stage and the thump of the bass and the strum of the guitar, until Reggie was whole again.

He could only hope that the marks of Reggie’s parents would be temporary, and that his would be permanent, forever captured in the Polaroid photos in their wallets and the space between their lips as they sang and the knowledge that they would always have one another, no matter what.
