✿ プチフール | Petit Four

Quick Turkish Delight
Turkish Delight closeup © Kevin Ashton 2023
Shortly before Christmas I was teaching a chocolate truffle course online. This year I decided to add a little something different to the mix of petit fours and make some Turkish delight. My starting point for my research was to look online but many of the recipes took too long to make, were thickened with cornflour and involved endless stirring. Then…

Omg for sentence prompts: “No, no, I can’t. We both can’t. I mean, it can never work out the way we would have wanted to.”
And kaarijan? Please?
Oh you had to choose the angstiest one, didn't you. You....
Neither of them realise they've been on a downhill until they are at the bottom. But that's how it works, isn't it? It appears in the little details that get overshadowed by the grandiosity and monotony of their everyday lives.
Bojan has got more heartbreaks under his belt than it is deserving for a person his age, but with a face like that, a voice like that--it's not hard to have someone of a weaker personality fall in love with him, and in turn, play the role until even his own heart begins to believe the lie.
This one hurts most.
And Bojan is so far up his own ass that he doesn't even notice it until Martin shines light on it one evening.
"You know it cannot work out between you." Martin says gently. He's always gentle in his words. Maybe one song had been inspired by it.
Bojan stares at the video. It's over six months old, and yet he can still feel the warmth on his lips, the soft tingle beneath his skin--the pressure of Jere's fingertips on his hips. Bojan had only showed it to Martin, though not on his own volition, but with Martin the cat being out of the bag was more of a natural occurrence than something to hide.
"I know we can't," Bojan says absent-minded. They were both drunk, and Bojan had been balancing on the thin line between idiocy and bravery. Little did he know that he'd been plummeting by then, falling hard. Back then, though, Jere's eyes seemed bottomless.
He thinks of Romeo and Juliet. A bad idea.
They have their own lives, their careers, both in the rise, they are at the beginning of a path into the unknown. Their futures cannot be dismissed for a tryst.
"You deserved something like this," says Martin then, closing his work laptop. Sometimes Bojan dreams of being in Martin's place, and yearns for the normalcy. But music is his destiny. Music brought Jere into his life
"What?" Bojan asks, and though Martin's words sound mean, they are anything but.
"Not the heartbreak, but the love you have," Martin says with a smile. "I just wish it had been someone else. It would have never worked out as it should have with the Finn guy."
Bojan cannot bring himself to delete the video, even though Martin is right
