1986.
The water had turned brown, slipping down the drain of Steve Harrington’s bathtub.
Your skin still felt clogged, and your hair felt as if there were still a dirt and - somehow - blood caked onto your scalp.
You could wait til tomorrow to take another. Steve was still waiting patiently to take his own shower, allowing everyone else to shower before him.
Eddie was far too grateful, saying that he smelt like garbage, literally.
Robin was just glad to be out of clothes and into oversized ones.
Max was still waiting on you to braid her wet hair, she also wanted to make sure she was really alive and not dead. And you braiding her hair would make her somehow believe that it was real, that she was okay.
That everyone was okay.
You walk down the steps, scrunching your hair with the towel. The green sweats Steve had laid out for you were too big, the bottoms getting stuck under your heel as you walked. But cozy.
You loved wearing his stuff. It smelt just like him.
Mahogany, vanilla, a little musky, and a little bit of hairspray.
You stop in the archway that leads into the living room, smiling a bit as you watch everyone. Eddie had made it his mission to finally eat a meal - but had made a bowl of popcorn.
He was too tired to eat a real meal. He could do that in the morning.
Robin was leaning against the couch on a couple of blankets, picking at the loose skin around her nails. She was still nervous, this being her second time defeating something this big.
The television was playing for some noise, the volume turned low, but low enough everyone could watch if they wanted.
Dustin, the poor kid, was passed out. Snoring, lips parted with a bit of drool falling down his chin and onto his hand, curls completely unkempt and still air-drying.
No one said anything though.
Lucas was in the middle of Max and Erica, his pinky intertwined with Max’s. The girls walkman next to her, just in case.
Nancy was beside Robin, quietly chastising the girl for picking until she bleed.
Robin blushes when her petite hand reaches out and pulls it away.
You glance over at Steve. He had pulled a wooden chair up from the dining room table, not wanting to get the cushions dirty.
His eye were droopy, but glancing over at everyone. He had set up the blankets and pillows, making sure they were comfortable and no one would be uncomfortable sleeping on the floor.
There was an air mattress currently being filled, waiting to be used. That should be done in a moment.
You step up towards him, placing your hand on his shoulder. “Hi, handsome.”
He blinks lazily, tilting his head back as he stares up at you. He grins softly. “Hi, honey.”
“Showers ready for you,” You bend down, pressing a kiss to his forehead. You don’t care if it’s streaked with a bit of dirt, you want to kiss him. “I laid out some clothes for you. And a towel and rag is on the counter.”
He lets out a deep sigh, standing and grunting as his knees crack. “Thanks. That definitely saves me some time.”
You smile and press a kiss to the corner of his mouth. “Don’t fall asleep in there.” You tease.
He rolls his eyes playfully. “I just might.” He squeezes your side lovingly, walking towards the stairs.
You turn to Max, smiling softly. “Hey, red,” You tease. She turns to you, her mouth quirking upwards slightly. “Ready to do your hair?”
“Yeah.” She nods, smiling. Before sitting in behind her, the phone rings. Nancy stands from the ground.
“I’ll get it.” She says. You nod at her, watching as she walks away. You sit in behind Max, eyes glancing over at Dustin again.
He had rolled onto his back. You smile a bit and reach up, fixing the blanket. You then turn back to Max, grabbing the brush next to her leg.
You brush through her red locks. “You okay, Lucas?” You glance at him. His eye had went down a bit from the ice pack you had grabbed him before getting into the shower yourself.
Lucas glances back at you, before eyes trail over to Max. Her eyes were closed, a small smile on her lips feeling your fingers part her hair into two sections. He smiles softly at the sight and nods.
“I’m okay.”
You smile, heart fluttering for the two teens. Your eyes then glance at Eddie, lips slick with butter. You then look back at your fingers.
“How about you, Eds?” His brown eyes leave the television.
“Perfect. That was my whole workout for the rest of the year.” He lets out a huff. You laugh softly, shaking your head and wrap a hairband around her hair. It might fall out while she’s asleep, but that’s okay.
“Erica, you okay?”
“Yeah,” She was quiet, which was unusual but understandable. “Just tired.”
You nod, starting on the other section of Max’s hair. “Get some sleep. You deserve it.”
Erica nods, glancing at Lucas. He nods a bit. She moves down into the covers, pulling the blanket up more.
In record time, she was out.
Nancy finally makes her way back into the living room, slipping back down next to Robin. You glance over at her, finishing Max’s braid.
“Hopper’s alive.” She says.
Your eyes widen and you pat Max’s back softly. She moves down more, laying her head into your lap.
“He is?” You ask softly.
She nods, curls bouncing with the motion. She smiles. “They’re all on their way back. Jonathan, Mike, Will, and El too. Joyce and Murray.”
“Thank God they’re okay.” You let out a breath.
“Who?” Steve asks as he steps into the room. Eddie stands and makes his way into the kitchen with an empty bowl.
“The rest of the group,” Nancy looks over at him. You look up at him, smiling once you see him. “They’re on their way here. Hopper said he’d help out Eddie.”
“Oh, thank heavens,” Eddie breathes out, plopping to a chair. He swings his legs over the arm. “I thought I was gonna have hide out in Harrington’s basement for the rest of my life.”
Steve narrows his eyes at the boy who grins. “No. You wouldn’t.”
Eddie only grins because he knows Steve would let him. You’d talk him into doing it.
And he’d listen. Like he always does.
You lift Max’s head, moving out from under her and placing her head onto the soft pillow, then gently pull the covers up and over her shoulder.
You stand from the ground and pull the air mattress over. “Who’s getting the mattress?”
“Me,” Eddie scoffs, standing and wrapping a blanket around his shoulder. He makes his way over and lies down on it. “I slept in a boat and the ground. I deserve this.”
Steve tosses a pillow at him. He catches it and slips it under his head and sighs. “Ahhh, this is nice.”
You snort lightly, making your way over towards Steve. “You guys okay? Do you need anything?”
“Earplugs.” Robin mutters, jabbing her thumb over her shoulder to Dustin. Steve smirks, shaking his head. “Poor boy. He’s just sleepy.”
Robin narrows her eyes at him. “He’s worse than you.”
“I do not snore.”
Robin tilts her head and looks at you. You giggle. “You do. It’s cute though.”
He lets out a noise shaking his head. “You can sleep down here with them.” He pushes your head away gently with his hand. You giggle.
He turns back. “You guys need anymore blankets? Pillows?”
“No. We’re okay, Steve,” Nancy smiles. “Thank you.”
Steve gives a small smile back and nods, his hand wraps around your side. “Okay. Don’t be afraid to come get us.”
They all nod, saying goodnight and slipping more under the covers. You follow Steve upstairs and leave the door open just a smidge.
You turn around, grinning when you see Steve holding the blanket up so you can slide in. You quickly make your way over, slipping into the bed. The sheets were a bit cold, but that’s okay.
He places the covers down and immediately reaches for your hand, pulling it towards his face and pressing a kiss to your palm.
You smile and lean forward, pressing your own lips to his quickly before resting your forehead against his.
“You okay?” You whisper.
“Mhm,” He nods. “Just thinking.”
“About?”
“Our future,” The moon was casting enough light into his room, casting a pretty glow across his face, some of his features almost looking carved by the light. There was a small sparkle in his eye. “Our wedding, six kids, watching them grow while we grow old together.”
You smile and scrunch your nose. “Six kids?” You lift a brow.
“Yep. Six little nuggets running around,” He nods. “I hope they look like you.” His finger traces down the slope of your nose, before smoothing the lines between your brows when you pinch them together.
“Don’t give me that look.”
“Why me?”
“Because. They would be even more cute.” He grins, pressing a quick peck to your forehead before pressing his back to yours.
“Well, I want them to look like you.” You lift a brow.
He pinches his own brows now. “I’ll win, like always. They’ll look like you.”
You roll your eyes, shaking your head a bit, your hair scrunching up by your ear. “Whatever you say, Stevie.”
You both stay silent, eyes taking in each other’s features. Your eyes flit down to his neck, fingertips tracing over the bruise.
“Does it hurt?”
“Only a little.” His fingers wrap around your wrist softly, the pad of his thumb tracing over the inside of your wrist softly.
“I was scared,” Your eyes burn a bit. “Watching you get choked. Twice.”
He frowns. “I’m okay. I’m still here.”
You nod, eyes looking back up at his face. He wipes a tear away. You notice some of his curls forming. You run your fingers through his hair softly.
“I love you.”
“And I love you,” He nods, tapping your nose. “Oh, one more thing.”
“Yeah?”
“I want matching rocking chairs too,” He nods. “When we’re wrinkly and have to wobble to the front porch and drink tea.”
You giggle softly. “Six kids and rocking chairs?”
“Six kids and rocking chairs,” He nods. “I’ll have them made. We can watch all our grandkids play out in the yard.”
You grin at him, nodding. “I’d love that.”

After a long day at the office, Steve trudged wearily towards his apartment, the weight of his responsibilities as both an Avenger and a leader pressing down on him like a heavy cloak. Each step felt like a struggle, his mind consumed with thoughts of mission reports and training sessions that seemed to stretch on endlessly. Every ounce of his expansive muscle mass wound tight. All he wanted was to get home to his best gal.
As he stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for his floor, Steve felt the exhaustion seeping into his bones, his eyelids heavy with fatigue. Leaning against the wall, he let out a sigh of relief, grateful for the brief respite from the chaos of the day. For a moment, he allowed himself to drift, the image of a warm bath and a cozy blanket beckoning to him like a beacon of comfort in the midst of his exhaustion.
But his moment of peace was rudely interrupted by the loud ding of the elevator doors opening. Before he could take a step towards home, a blur of fluffy curls and cable-knit flew at him, filling the cramped space with warmth and sweet giggles. She was swallowed whole by his favorite sweater. A soft chuckle escaped him, Steve found himself enveloped in the embrace of his beloved, her petite frame fitting perfectly against his tired muscles.
Burying his face in her neck, Steve inhaled deeply, the familiar scent of roses and oranges washing over him like a soothing balm. "Baby, I missed you," he whispered, his voice barely above a breath as he held her close, savoring the feeling of her in his arms. She peppered soft kisses across his gruff face and carded her thin fingers through his long mane. A wistful sigh escaped his lips as her nails gently scraped the nape of his neck.
As they stumbled into their apartment, Steve's heart swelled at the sight that greeted him: a massive pillow fort, expertly constructed and adorned with twinkling fairy lights and their favorite Disney movie ready to play. His exhaustion melted away at the sight of the care and creativity his babygirl had poured into the surprise. Confusion danced across his feature. How on Earth did such a tiny woman get their Alaskan king from the bedroom to the living room.
She had been staring hopefully at his tired weary face, but his look of confusion was mistaken for anger. With a sheepish look about her, she wriggled out of his embrace, her eyes shining with tears.
“Daddy, please don’ be mad. Fri said you needed snuggles n sleeps. I made dis jus for you.” she pleaded mournfully to him. Steve's heart ached at the sight of her tears, his love for her swelling with each passing moment. He smoothed them away with a calloused thumb. Pulling her close, Steve showered her with kisses, his laughter mingling with hers as they sank into the comfort of their makeshift castle, the troubles of the day fading into the background as he curled around her petite frame.
“Oh sweet girl. How could I be mad? This is exactly what I need.” he cooed with a soft chuckle. He rubbed his beard against her soft cheeks and she shrieked out a laugh.

resonance (steve harrington x superpower! reader) chapter seven

content warning for blood n gore!
“I said Dr. Sam Owens,” Hopper’s irritated tone greeted you as you popped back into the living room, damp boots and hunting knife in hand. You startled Nancy, who was hovering nervously in the hallway, giving Jonathan space while he sat with his unconscious brother.
Giving her an apologetic smile, you headed to the kitchen and nodded at Steve, who was leaning against the counter. “Did I miss much?” you muttered and began braiding your damp hair.
“What, was I supposed to count the bodies?” the older man growled into the receiver, shaking his head angrily. “I don’t know how many people are left alive in there!”
“Not really,” Steve replied. “Chief’s been on the phone since you left,” he gave your blood-free outfit a glance and coughed. “Not going too well, though.”
“I am the goddamn police!” The man in question yelled. “I’m Chief Jim Hopper!”
“They didn't believe you, did they?” Mike asked Hopper when he eventually hung up the phone, fuming.
“We’ll see,” he hedged before nodding at your clean state. “That was a quick shower. You get any blood on my floor?”
“We’ll see?” the boy cried before you could reply. “We can’t just sit here while those things are loose!”
Raising your eyebrows at the attitude on the kid, you remained silent and finished your elaborate braid, flicking it over your shoulder. You looked knowingly at the man. “I teleported into the bathtub, so no.”
Choosing to ignore Mike as well, Hopper asked as nonchalantly as he could. “Did the, uh, cat freak out?”
Plopping onto the hard tile floor, you set to work drying off the boots, sending a nod to Max when she shuffled over to sit next to you. “Nope.” El was sleeping on a bus, for reasons unbeknownst to you, heading back to Hawkins from god knows where. She appeared safe in the void, but seemed to have gotten a makeover since she’d been gone.
“It’s still weird that you two live together,” Dustin shook his head.
Hopper’s condensed version of how you met when you arrived at the Byers’ earlier left something to be desired, simply telling the group that he had rescued you in the forest. No one asked questions.
You all had other things to worry about.
“Can we please focus on the problem?” Mike yelled. “Why aren’t we going to do anything?”
Hopper visibly resisted snapping at him, sending a tired glance your way. “We’re going to stay here and wait for help.”
You cleared your throat at the deflated look the boy wore and gestured towards the hallway, looking at Hopper. “Have you checked on her?”
The man shook his head. Sighing, he trudged down to the room where Joyce had remained inside since your group arrived, lightly knocking before entering.
“Did you guys know that Bob was the original founder of Hawkins AV?” The younger Wheeler asked the group (mostly Dustin and Lucas) after a few silent minutes, fiddling with a box in his hands.
You felt your throat tighten, but continued to wipe at the shoes.
Dustin hummed. “Really?”
“Yeah,” Mike said, looking sadly at a stack of puzzles on the table. “He petitioned the school to start it and everything,” he smiled wistfully. “Pretty awesome, right?”
The other two boys agreed.
Mike stood up suddenly, wearing a stern expression. “We can't let him die in vain. We can’t.”
“Well, what do you want us to do, Mike?” Dustin said, throwing his arms up. “The Chief's right on this. We can't stop those demo-dogs on our own.”
You couldn’t help but laugh at the dumbfounded look on the boy’s face.  “Demodogs?”
“Demogorgon,” Dustin sighed, clearly irritated at explaining the word. “Dogs. Demodogs. It's like a compound!” he rolled his eyes at Mike’s blank stare. “You know, a play on words?”
“I know what a compound is!” Mike shook his head. “Anyway, there has to be something we can do.”
Lucas shook his head. “Maybe when it was just Dart we could fight them off, but there’s a whole army of them now.”
“Precisely.”
“You couldn’t even fight Dart,” Steve snorted. “You shitbirds let us do that for you, remember?”
“His army,” Mike said, ignoring him. “The demodogs are his army! Maybe if we stop him, we can stop them, too.”
That got your attention.
“Whoa, whoa whoa,” Steve was already shaking his head when you shot back up, mostly-dry boots back on your feet. “No way!”
“No way what?” Hopper walked back in.
“You said his army,” you cut in aggressively, startling the kids a little with your sudden participation. “Who’s he?”
“Um.” Mike blinked at your close proximity and went to pick up a paper from the counter that had a drawing of a monster on it. “The shadow monster,” he said, handing you the paper. You frowned, it looked like a big ass spider. “It got Will that day on the field,” Mike explained. “The doctor told us it was like a virus. It infected him.”
“Like in The Evil Dead.” Steve mused. “It’s possessing him!”
You bit your lip. The shadow monster. A bout of dread churned through you at the thought of just who he could be.
“And so this virus, this monster,” Max said, glancing between you and the paper. “It’s connecting Will to the tunnels?”
“Tunnels?” you yelled at her question, eyes going wide. “Ho-hold on,” you stammered, abruptly turning towards the many papers haphazardly taped on the walls. “Is that what these are?” you all but sprinted to the wall nearest you, where what was now clear to you as tunnels trailed out into the living room.
You hadn’t had time to ask about Joyce’s choice of interior design when you’d first arrived.
“To the tunnels, monsters, the Upside Down,” Mike confirmed. “It’s connecting Will to everything.”
A small whimper escaped you. Fucking hell. Your heartbeat skyrocketed looking at the series of papers creeping along the walls, turning to glance fearfully at the boys and then back around to the wall you were closest to.
“Slow down, Jesus,” Steve ran a hand through his hair, shooting a concerned look in your direction.
Not here. You squeezed your eyes shut. Not now.
“Okay, so, the shadow monster is inside everything,” Mike mused, ignoring your outburst. “And if the vines feel something like pain, then so does Will.”
“And so do the demodogs,” you heard Lucas say. “Like Dart.”
They were speaking back and forth incredibly fast, clearly all thinking the same thing. Not that it really mattered to you; they might as well have been underwater. Putting a hand against the wall, you stared blankly at the paper in front of you and breathed heavily, trying to tune back into the conversation.
“It’s like what Mr. Clarke taught us,” Lucas said excitedly. “The hive mind.”
“Hive mind?” Steve asked.
“A collective consciousness. It's a super-organism. And this is the thing that controls everything. It's basically the brain—”
“—like the Mind Flayer!”
“The what?” Max and Steve asked in unison, causing someone, you weren’t sure who, as you couldn’t look away from the papers, to run down the hallway.
Get it together, you scolded yourself, blinking rapidly at the hues of blue that weaved along the wall. You’ve got a monster to worry about, which is probably the one that sent you here in the first place. Why Henry would want to be a freaky spider monster, you weren’t too sure.
It’s okay. You shuddered, taking a deep breath. It’s not like they want to go frolicking in the tunnels. Turning around, you rejoined the group that now included Jonathan and Nancy. Bury the fear, you told yourself. Refocus on the problem at hand.
It was Mike who ran back, slamming a large book on the kitchen table as everyone crowded around it. The boys explained over each other, describing the monster that they thought was terrorizing poor Will.
“It's a monster from an unknown dimension—”
“—so ancient that it doesn't even know its true home—”
“—it enslaves races of other dimensions by taking over their brains using its highly-developed psionic powers—”
“—Oh, my God, none of this is real!” Hopper finally lamented, wiping a hand down his face. “This book is just from that kids game you play!” He called out your name. “Help me out here!”
You couldn’t help but shrug. “To be fair, it’s not like I ever thought monsters like the demodogs existed before I came here,” you peered down at the spider-like creature in the book. “Why couldn’t this one be real as well?” And I’m from the future, you thought. Someone could tell you pigs were flying and you wouldn’t be surprised.
“Thank you!” Dustin exclaimed. “And this isn’t a game, Chief, it’s a manual,” he argued, his tone full of sass. “And unless you know something that we don't, this is the best metaphor—”
“—Analogy,” Lucas cleared his throat, correcting him.
You snorted at the look on the curly-haired boy’s face. “Really Lucas?” he asked snarkily. “Analogy? That's what you're worried about?” He rolled his eyes. “Fine. An analogy for understanding whatever the hell this monster is.”
Nancy sighed. “Okay, so this mind flamer thing—”
“—Flayer. Mind Flayer.”
Her eye twitched. “What does it want?”
“To conquer us, basically,” Dustin explained. “It believes it's the master race.”
“Right.” Steve nodded along. “Like the Germans!”
Eight pairs of eyes blinked at him. “Um,” Dustin squinted at him. “Do you mean the Nazis?”
“Yes!” He snapped his fingers and you couldn’t help the small smile that graced your features at how proud he looked. “The Nazis.”
“I mean, sure?” Dustin paused. Hopper rubbed his face in exasperation and looked at you before tilting his head at Steve, clearly questioning your claim that he would eventually become Chief. Dustin continued. “If the Nazis were from another dimension, then yeah…totally.  Uh, it views other races, like us, as inferior to itself.”
Mike pointed at a paragraph in the book. “It wants to spread, take over other dimensions.”
“If this is the same monster we’re dealing with,” Lucas finished somberly. “Then we are talking about the destruction of our world as we know it.”
Nancy ignored Steve’s panicked outburst, leaning in closer to look at the book. “Okay, so if this thing is like a brain that's controlling everything, then if we kill it…”
“We kill everything it controls,” Mike finished.
“We win.” Dustin said.
“Theoretically,” Lucas added.
“Fantastic,” Hopper stated dryly. “So how do you kill this thing? Shoot it with Fireballs or something?”
Dustin chuckled. “No. No fireballs. Um, you summon an undead army, uh, because,” he stammered, looking to his other friends for help. “You know, because zombies… they don't have brains, and the Mind Flayer, it… it... It likes brains? It's a game,” he broke off, shaking his head. “It’s just a game.”
Your eyes shot skyward as Hopper groaned and slapped the table. “What the hell are we doing here?”
“I thought we were waiting for your military backup!” Dustin sneered.
“We are!”
Mike pointed to the book. “How could they stop this anyway? You can't just shoot this with guns.”
“You don't know that!”
Lucas put his head in his hands. “We don't know anything!”
Mike shook his head, straightening his spine to continue arguing with Hopper. You looked on with mild respect. The kid didn’t know how to give up. “We know it's already killed everybody in that lab. We know the monsters are gonna molt again. We know that it's only a matter of time before those tunnels reach this town,” you felt your heart stutter again. “So we need to do something.”
“He’s right.” An angry, tear-stricken Joyce stood in the entryway, making your heart clench a little. “We have to kill it. I want to kill it.”
“Me, too,” Jonathan agreed, putting an arm around his mother.
Hopper looked pained, his expression softening at the woman. “Me, too, Joyce, okay? Believe me, I want it dead too. But how do we do that? We don't exactly know what we're dealing with here.”
“From what they said,” you spoke up faintly, eyes flickering worriedly to the illustrations on the wall again. “It sounds like Will does.”
“She’s right,” Mike nodded. “If anyone knows how to destroy this thing, it's Will. He's connected to it. He'll know its weakness.”
“I thought we couldn't trust him anymore,” Max furrowed her eyebrows. “Isn’t he a spy for the Mind Flayer now?”
Nancy breathed, excitedly meeting her brother’s eyes. “He can't spy if he doesn't know where he is.”
“You okay, kid?” You jerked, almost launching the piece of plywood you were holding into Hopper’s face. “Sorry. How's your cut?”
“Just stings a little,” you relaxed, walking towards the backyard with him. It was decided that Will would be placed in a blacked-out shed to confuse the Mind Flayer. “Nothing I can't handle. Hop. But, it’s just,” you said, adjusting the wood in your hands and frowning.  “The monster controlling Will, what if it’s… him?”
“Henry?” he asked, sighing when you nodded. The two of you passed Steve and Nancy, who seemed to be having a serious talk while gathering more materials to cover the shed with. “Could be,” he shrugged. “Course, that would mean that Henry was who got Will last year, too,” a frown graced his face. “Which would make a lot of sense, actually. Why the hell didn’t I think of that sooner?” He muttered, scratching his chin with the hammer he was holding thoughtfully. “Do you think it’s him?”
“Probably.” You adjusted the wood in your arms and grimaced. “It’s too much of a coincidence for it to be a different evil mastermind, right?”
He groaned. “I fucking hope not. Chief of Police doesn’t pay nearly enough for handling more than one. Best if we just have the one instead.”
You shuddered, thinking of the group that was now faced with defending Hawkins from evil for a second time. “How are you all so… calm about this?” you shook your head. “I thought another dimension and monsters would make people more…”
“Scared?” he offered. “Freaked out?”
“These kids,” Hopper sighed when you nodded. “They grew up playing that damn game and reading comic books, I think they’re the only people in the world who would see actual monsters and be excited about it.” You chuckled, setting the wood down inside of the shed. “They’ve met real-life superheroes, kid,” he nudged you playfully. “More than one now. They’re scared, no doubt, but this is an adventure to them.”
“They’re reckless,” you whispered.
“Someone else has always been around to save them,” he shrugged, and suddenly you were back in the living room of your old house, listening to your mother weave a not-so-happy bedtime story of just what could happen to kids who acted reckless. “Hey, don’t worry,” he said gently, misinterpreting your shift in demeanor. “Everything’s gonna be okay. We did this once before and managed to keep everyone safe.”
Swallowing, you looked up at him, feeling just as young as you really were. “And the tunnels?”
“What about them?” He squinted. “Wait, is that why you were staring at the wall earlier?” A sigh was released when his question was met with silence. “The tunnels,” he said. “That’s how those dogs are getting around town, they go all the way to the lab.”
You shuddered. “And we have no reason to go in them, right?”
“Hell no.” He looked at you strangely. “I got stuck down there yesterday, really don’t recommend it. Relax,” he laughed at your panicked expression. “Those kids might be reckless, but they’re smart. They won’t go charging into danger, let alone those tunnels. Don’t worry about it.”
You remained silent the rest of the time you worked, praying he was right.
Once the shed was covered and deemed unrecognizable, you went inside to wait with Steve, Nancy, and the kids, save for Mike, while Hopper carried an unconscious Will out back.
“How can you even be hungry?” Lucas shuddered, watching you rummage through the fridge after a few minutes of silence. The group had panned out, loitering nervously throughout the house. “You know, with all the shit you saw in the hospital.”
“Lucas!” Max shot him a nasty glare, causing him to wilt a little.
You smiled. I knew I liked her.
“What?” he argued. “It was a lot of blood! I’m just saying, I’d be too grossed out to eat right now if I had to kill those things and watch someone die.”
Your smile faltered. “Well it's a good thing you didn't have to kill anything, isn't it?” You leaned against the fridge door, knowing the comment wasn't meant to be rude. “I spent most of today fighting those damn dogs so I’m pretty wiped out. If it’s alright with you, I’m gonna eat something not necessarily because I want to,” you said, raising an eyebrow at him. “But because if we get attacked again, it won’t do us any good if I pass out,” you said, spinning back around to dig through the fridge and grab a jar of jelly before blanching at the sight of the bright red color. “Unless, of course, you and your wrist rocket are gonna take on that army by yourself?”
“If he finds out where we are,” Dustin said hesitantly, watching you make a face and put the jar back, choosing instead to make a plain peanut butter sandwich. “Do you think he’ll send those dogs after us?”
“He won't find out,” Lucas insisted.
“Yeah, but, if he does…”
“Then we're fucked,” Max deadpanned, just as the lights in the house started to flicker.
“And on that note,” you hummed cheerfully, gesturing towards the kitchen light. “I’m gonna go sit while I still can.” You grabbed your finished sandwich and a glass of water before strolling out into the hallway, avoiding the tunnels that crept along the wall with you.
Choosing to sit on the couch beside Nancy, you nibbled delicately at your sandwich in a way you knew wouldn’t cause any crumbs to fall, watching Steve swing his bat aimlessly in the corner of the room as the ticking clock above him alerted you that it was nearing 9 p.m.
“So,” Nancy hesitated, watching you eat with curious eyes. “You have powers.”
You licked the peanut butter off of your finger. “Yep.”
“Like Eleven.”
Shrugging, you took another bite. “So they tell me.”
“But you’re not from the lab.”
“Nope.”
She frowned.
You almost wanted to smile. Gotta try harder than that, Wheeler.
“How long do you plan on staying in Hawkins?” Steve asked suddenly, leaning on his studded bat.
“Not sure.” You swallowed the rest of your sandwich, making sure no crumbs remained on your lips.
“Why?” Nancy’s tone was pressing. “You don’t want to go back home?”
You raised your eyebrows, taking a sip of water so you wouldn’t laugh. “No home to go back to,” you said evenly.
“Oh,” Steve, the actual angel, replied, looking genuinely sad for you. “I’m sorry.”
“Could be worse,” you shrugged, placing the glass back down on the coffee table. You started a little at Nancy’s wide, unblinking eyes.
“You’re lying.” Nancy’s accusation made you finally bark out a laugh.
“Nancy!” Steve scolded. “She’s not on trial here.”
She blinked at him incredulously. “You’ve only known her for one night, Steve, and you’re defending her? Against me?”
“Yikes,” you couldn’t help but let out. “Can we not drag me into this?”
They ignored you.
“Uh yeah, I am!” Steve nodded furiously. “She saved all of us, Nance! Multiple times!” He cried, swinging his bat to rest on his shoulder. “And you’re interrogating her like you think she’s the monster!”
“She’s a stranger, sue me for being cautious,” she scoffed. “She obviously lied to us in the store, she’s probably lying about how she ended up here too.”
“The store?” you repeated, eyes curiously bouncing between the two.
Nancy’s face tightened, almost like she was angry you dared to join the conversation. “You said you were trying to cheer up someone, a girl who couldn’t go outside on Halloween.”
Movement out of the corner of your eye alerted you to an audience currently peeking from the kitchen at the noise. Little eavesdroppers.
“And from what Hopper just told us,” she said. “That can’t be true,” she tilted her head tauntingly.
“Oh, so you do remember Halloween night?” Steve laughed harshly, causing the girl’s face to drop guiltily.
“Steve…”
“No, Nancy!” he held a hand up. “You know what? Who cares if she’s lying? She fought those things with me, a total stranger,” you winced internally. “and then she ran into the lab without thinking twice for Will and your brother! She saved us all practically by herself and is still helping us now even when she doesn’t have to! I think she’s entitled to a few secrets.”
“She didn’t save everyone,” Nancy snapped defensively, freezing when she realized what she had said.
You swore the temperature dropped twenty degrees as you looked up at her expressionless, grateful the sharp pain that splintered across your chest didn’t reflect on your face. Nancy couldn’t hide the panicked glance she sent towards your hands, which were humming with energy.
You would’ve snorted if you weren’t so upset. Not with Nancy, of course, but with yourself.
She wasn’t wrong, after all.
The door to the kitchen suddenly slammed open before you could say anything to the girl, sending you into fight mode. You quickly teleported into the corner of the room, everyone else following closely behind. Hopper was furiously scribbling on a notepad at the table. “What happened?”
“Will,” he rushed out. “He’s tapping on his chair.” Finally, he leaned back, allowing you to look. “I think he's talking, just not with words. We just have to keep Will, or the thing inside him, anyway, distracted while he tells us.”
“What is that?” Steve asked, and all of you hovered around the dots and dashes that littered the paper.
“Morse code,” you replied along with multiple people, nodding your head in approval.  “He’s smart.”
“H-E-R-E,” Nancy read.
“Here,” the group said in unison.
“Will's still in there,” Hopper explained. “He’s saying something to us.”
“Looks like we got a plan after all,” Dustin grinned.
….
The harsh words Nancy said were tabled for later, you supposed, as you all hastily wrote down the corresponding letters to Will’s morse code that Hopper sent via walkie-talkie. The celebration of the resulting phrase “CLOSE GATE” was short-lived, however, as the Byers’ phone began to shrilly ring, sending you all into a frenzy.
“Who the hell is even calling this late?” Lucas yelled. The panic that filled you was swift and sudden, and rather than waste any more time you threw a hand in the direction of the phone, swiftly yanking it from the wall and sending it hurtling down the hall.
You made a mental note to apologize to Joyce later.
“Do we, uh, think Will heard that?” Dustin asked, glancing around the house.
“It’s just a phone,” Steve frowned. “Couldn’t it be from anywhere?”
A horrible shrieking, familiar to most of you, filled the air. Wryly, you stretched your arms out and flicked your braid over your shoulder while the kids flew to the windows, looking for any sign of the dogs on the horizon. “Guess that answers that question.”
“Shit!” The kitchen door bounced off the wall once more, revealing the rest of the group and an unconscious Will. “Get away from the windows!” Hopper yelled to the kids, lugging two guns inside. “Can you use this?” he asked you, holding a shotgun out.
The look on your face was priceless as you scoffed, waving your hands out dramatically. Nodding sheepishly, he asked the group the question again at large, ultimately handing it to, surprisingly, Nancy.
“Alright,” You pushed over the kids heads to look outside, nodding a little. “I’ll be right back.”
“What?” The vein on Hopper’s forehead pulsed angrily. “You’re not going out there.”
“I’m the first line of defense, Hop,” you rolled your eyes, pointing at yourself. “I ate a sandwich, I’ll be fine!”
He sputtered in response and without much of a farewell, you made sure to grab the hunting knife and teleported outside, hearing a faint “...away from the goddamn windows!” when you gracefully stepped down the front porch.
You shook out your shoulders, clocking the creatures that were already creeping in from the tree line, the single street light at the edge of the driveway casting a particularly horrifying glow on their shadows.
“Shit,” you shuddered, unable to remain as confident as you appeared in the house. No matter how much it thrilled you to fight, you couldn’t help but be nervous. You had no idea how many dogs were watching you.
It didn’t matter, you resolved. No matter what, you wouldn’t let them kill someone else. You spared a glance back to the house, letting out a chuckle at the faces that were smashed against the window again.
You had an audience.
Swallowing harshly, you allowed your mind to go blank. “Well, come on, already, Henry!” you taunted, beckoning whatever was out there closer.
Adrenaline pumped through your body as the creatures begin barreling towards you. It was like a choppy ocean wave, the dogs tripping over each other just as they did in the lab in an attempt to get to you first. You cleared your thoughts, tuning into the environment around you, and began to fight as the first few screeched and lunged.
It was likely that only minutes had passed by as you spared a glance down to the dogs that lay dead at your feet, the rush from fluttering around the yard leaving you a little dizzy. You had just taken a deep breath when you had to suddenly duck, the flailing body of a limp demodog was soaring over you, straight through the window of the house. What the hell?
Straightening, you were flooded with relief at the sight of the figure that stood a few feet away, commenting dryly. “Well, that was dramatic.”
At the very end of the driveway stood El, still donned in all black. With a quick pop you appeared next to her, fluttering around as she began to attack the remaining creatures with determination you hadn’t seen before.
“You’re a little shit, you know that?” you called out, yanking your knife out of a demodog and spraying the mailbox with blood. “I would’ve gone with you.”
She smiled, gesturing to the many bodies littered across Joyce’s lawn. “I needed to do it alone,” El responded. “Looks like they would’ve been in trouble if you weren’t here.”
You couldn’t help but agree.
“What happened here?” she asked.
Sharp pain suddenly flooded your senses as one of the creatures clawed at your leg, knocking you to the ground with a yelp.
You heard someone yell from inside the house.
“We need to close the gate,” you huffed, furious at the dog for pulling you into a puddle of blood.
My poor boots.
“Again?”
“Yep,” you grunted, kicking the monster in the head and closing your fist, squishing its petals with your mind. El helped you up, taking notice of the last remaining dogs that were left.
Together, you both raised your hands, flattening the creatures and filling the night with silence once more.
You looked at her, tucking a stray piece of hair back. “Where’d you go anyways?”
“Chicago.” You pulled her in for a hug with a chuckle.
Hopper was gonna have a heart attack.
Tightly, you squeezed her, feeling the smaller girl squeeze just as hard back. “Was it windy there?”
“Yes,” she nodded seriously when you broke apart. “Very windy.”
You snorted, sighing tiredly. “Did you find whatever it was you went there for?”
“Yes,” El smiled, grabbing your hand and tugging you towards the house. “I did.”

Has always had a thing for smart men with steady hands and pretty mouths, and fuck if Bucky Barnes doesn’t tick every box Sam’s ever had. He should be praying for his life and instead all he can think about is the way Bucky’s mouth, his goddamn mouth, won’t stop parting all slick with confusion.
“Go on,” Sam hears himself say, voice low, heat snaking through the words. “If you’re gonna kill me, baby, let’s get started. La petite mort.” He’s so warm he thinks he’s going to burn up, and Bucky hasn’t moved an inch, every line of his body pressed against Sam’s is a taunt, a temptation.
Las Vegas (ao3) - elcapitan_rogers steve/natasha E, 219k

let me put my lips to something (ao3) - livingincolors sam/bucky M, 1k

“No,” he said, trying to bite back his smile and be firm, but it was hard when Sam’s eyes were that bright, his gapped-tooth smile so wide and infectious.
Then, Sam’s smile turned a bit mischievous, and he surged forward, mouth open as it latched onto the closest part of Bucky—which happened to be his neck—and bit down.
A small moan escaped Bucky’s lips before he could stop it.

Or big Alpha Steve moves into sweet little Omega Bucky's apartment building and a roller-coaster build of a romance ensues.
My House of Stone (your ivy grows) (ao3) - YoureNotDoneFighting steve/natasha M, 4k
Summary: Natasha tipped her head back to the ceiling and closed her eyes. She’d come down here to get away from Steve, or at least the thoughts of him that invaded her dreams — More specifically, thoughts of them. Yet there he was. It was like the man had a radar that pointed him in her direction exactly when she didn’t want him there. If she was being honest with herself though, it was more like she wanted to not want him there.
Shameless (ao3) - Finely Honed (jaqen_hgar) bucky/tony M, 2k
Summary: Prompt: imagine Tony and Bucky flirting everywhere, in the tower, out fighting random bad guy of the day over the coms, even out in public. it started as a game to see who could get the other to blush or fluster first but it dissolved into shameless flirting quickly. eventually it's Bucky who cracks first, pushing Tony up against a wall, kissing the living daylights out of him and using that super soldier strength to pick Tony up to hold against the wall. bonus if Clint walks in on them.
Tony isn’t actually sure which of them starts it—he’d like to take credit, but if he’s learned anything it’s that Barnes is by no means a wilting flower. Besides, the start doesn’t matter as much as figuring out who’s going to actually finish it.
Strip Me All The Way (ao3) - KandiSheek bucky/tony E, 4k
Summary: Bucky can't seem to fail at anything, and it's unfairly attractive. Would it kill him to not be so competent? Because Tony would really appreciate it, thank you.
The Wrong Wedding (ao3) - Xliviaxrtega steve/natasha G, 10k
Summary: Steve is getting married. Nat had left two years before, after one drunken "mistake". Will a wedding invitation bring them together? Or farther apart?
Two of a Kind, the Perfect Pair (ao3) - stfustucky (iwillpaintasongforlou) steve/bucky E, 78k
Summary: “Can you fake it?” Bucky echoes with emphasis. “Stark needs to think he’s won in order to leave you alone, right? So what if we just pretend to go along with this plan of his for a while, and then Tony gets his victory and you get your peace. One week of indulging him with a little fake sexcation, and then we amicably part ways. You prove to him that you’re capable of being in a relationship but just not interested, and he leaves you alone. Problem solved.”
.....................
Steve is one big ball of sexual frustration and mediocre social skills, so Tony, being the nice friend that he is, goes to a matchmaking service to find him a partner. There he finds Bucky, a former Black Ops vet with a mysterious metal arm and a charming smile, and brings him home to Steve. Steve is too busy being hung up on his own insecurities to actually be in a real relationship right now, but he and Bucky hatch a plan to fake date for a week so that Tony will get off his back. What could possibly go wrong with a plan like that?
We'll Haunt This Place (The Two of Us) (ao3) - ElloPoppet clint/steve, bucky/sam E, 25k
Summary: Huh. Captain America showing up at his farm unannounced in the middle of a Tuesday afternoon with a suitcase. Somehow, not the strangest thing to ever happen to Clint. Not even the strangest way he had been woken from a nap, honestly.

A Whole New Ballfield: "ALN" Post (Pre-Serum Omega!Steve and Alpha!Bucky Modern Domestic AU)
Nineteen:
Tumblr media
"They look like an alien," Cori commented, looking at the 3D ultrasound picture.
"I'm definitely never having kids," Bitsy claimed, face scrunched up in displeasure at the odd photo of her unborn nephew.
"What are you talking about?" Kit asked, taking the picture from their sisters. Crossing the room to where Ollie was sitting, they held the picture up to the pregnant omega, "He looks just like his pops."
"Ha," Ollie deadpanned, snatching the picture from his younger sibling. "So funny. And just for that, you're not godparent."
"Way to go, loser," Leigh-Anne good-humoredly teased, affectionately shoving Kit.
The alpha simply rolled their eyes before wrapping Leigh-Anne into a headlock, rubbing their knuckles along her freshly shaven head. Steve simply rolled his eyes at the display. Increasingly, it was a common sight to behold.
Not even Tony was surprised by the scene as the short omega punched Rhodey's arm, whining, "I thought that I was going to be godfather."
Rubbing at his sore arm, Rhodey loudly scoffed, "What made you think that?"
"I was told that I was," Tony pointed accusingly at his pregnant childhood friend, "Directly from your husband."
"Hey," Ollie was taken aback. Denying that he did such a thing and corrected, "I said that Pepper was godmother."
"And she's my wife, so I would clearly be de facto godfather," Tony argued.
Handing the riled up omega some of Natasha's infamous Grinch mocktail, Pepper assuaged, "We just won't make them godparents to our future children."
"That's not fair," Oliver pouted, marking over his protruding bump.
"Definitely not fair," Rhodey agreed, attempting to appease his mate and his unborn son who started kicking harshly from inside his womb.
Clearly uncomfortable, Ollie huffed and pushed himself from his seat. After Rhodey helped him, Oliver turned so he could give his spouse an appreciative kiss. Then, he pivoted his current core strength and headed for the kitchen where the older adults at the baby shower were hanging out.
"Ya hangin' in there, papa?" Tibby asked, strategically playing her UNO card.
"If I could –" Oliver started, ladling some of the popular Grinch punch into a festive winter themed disposable cup "– I would remove him right here and now."
"Been there," Mandy said, playing a reverse card.
Ivy's wife, Paige, continued the saying, "Done that."
"Three times," Auggie's wife, Tula, added, rearranging her hand of cards, trying to plan her next move.
Steve assured the younger omega, "By the time he's here, you'll miss it."
"Yeah?" The pregnant man asked, taking a drink of the non-alcoholic punch.
Nostalgically, the older guests glanced at their kids. Sure, Auggie and Tula's youngest daughter, Twiggy, was only four. But Steve knew all too well how fast time really flew. After all, it had seemed like just yesterday, Oliver was sleeping on his bladder and causing him pain as he outgrew his petite womb.
Clearing the emotion from his throat, Steve nodded, "Yeah."
"Kinda makes me wish I didn't get my tubes tied," Tula half-joked before calling out, "UNO!"
"Damn it!" Tibby complained, just like every other time they played a game that she wasn't winning at.
A soft grin on his face, Oliver gazed down at his bump, admitting, "I guess it's not so bad."
Steve nodded, agreeing. As the kicking continued, Oliver stretched, shifting his weight, in hopes of getting more comfortable. Meanwhile, Steve extended his hand, but didn't dare touch the omega without permission. Son or not, Steve understood a person's boundaries. Especially from his children.
Huffing out another breath, Ollie conceded. Letting his omega father feel the baby kicking and wiggling about. Steve just couldn't believe that any of this was real. The life that he had planned for himself before he met Bucky never paid close attention to a family. He had been a lonely man who distracted himself enough to never realize just how lonely he was.
The only thing that he'd change about his life was to have it include little Roo's great grandma, Sarah, and his namesake, Aunt Flora. They deserved to be there in person. And it was the only thing that truly broke Steve's heart when he looked at his life.
Beneath his palm, Rory gave him a particularly hard kick, and Steve hoped that that was confirmation. Almost as though Rory was assuring him that Sarah and Flora were with him. Guiding him. Loving him. Making sure that he made it safely to them.
"Thanks, bub," Steve softly told him while gently caressing that spot where Roo's tiny foot remained pressed against Oliver's womb. Seeing how uncomfortable Ollie still was, Steve lifted his other hand so he could cup the younger omega's face and assured, "Just a little bit longer. It'll fly right by."

when he finally gets comfortable, billy craves to be close to steve while they’re both asleep. typically, he’s a clingy sleeper. he links his arms around steve’s waist and he rests as close as possible to steve’s body. he even moves to get closer to the heat when steve drifts away in his sleep, until he’s practically on top of steve (steve doesn’t mind. it was a shock the first time though; waking up sweaty, hot, and thoroughly squished and smothered by 150 pounds of a peacefully snoozing billy).
billy almost always wakes up first, trying to extricate himself from the tangle of limbs so he can finally get to see steve pressed into the pillow next to him, the covers wrapped around his waist and the morning sun making the highlights in his hair gleam as it filters in through the blinds.
he reaches out, fingertips tracing the moles on steve’s back almost by memory. and steve stirs and burrows deeper into the pillow with a soft sound of contentment.
and it feels. euphoric. so tender, it makes billy want to shake steve awake to make sure he’s real. but he also never wants to move in case he wakes him up and ruins this.
steve brushes his leg up against billy though, slowly opening one eye, and billy smiles before he can stop himself.
steve heavily wraps his arm around billy’s torso, softly groaning, his voice coarse in his drowsy state. his half lidded eyes blink slowly at billy, who’s grinning from ear to ear.
“woke you?” billy finally asks.
steve nods his head, jutting his bottom lip out to form the slightest pout before billy leans forward to steal a kiss. he pulls away to grab steve’s hands, indistinctly saying sorry, stevie. he kisses up steve’s arms, mumbling, “just so pretty in the morning, my sweet, sunshine boy..”
and billy would do anything for this to last. would pause time to sit in bed with steve forever- even if steve annoyingly hogs the covers and sleeps in the dead center of the bed.
billy can see steve blush, although he grumbles, “you’re a freaking octopus, baby,” when billy wraps his legs around steve’s.
“you were supposed to say good morning,” billy laughs in response. it’s bright, and his face lights up like fresh snow glistening under the sun for the first time.  steve can only smile, fond.
he thinks, truly, it is. a good morning. the best.

word count: 2.4k (lol, sorry)

Join the tag list here.
Tumblr media
“Welcome to Wakanda, agent (Y/N)”.
A second after you crossed their airspace, you were courteously greeted. The views from your ship were indescribable. Peace invaded you just at the sight of the open fields and the warm colors of autumn. You could get used to that place too. To live in calm, work hand-to-hand with Shuri, and have time to spend it with Bucky. The reason why you were flying there. Removing your right hand from the control and grabbing in a fist the dog tags hanging on your chest, you took a deep breath while closing your eyes before getting ready to land. T’Challa was waiting for you at the entry of his kingdom, accompanied by his excited little sister and some of his guards.
Pressing a sequence of buttons above your head, to pull the control back, the ship went down slowly folding its wings. As you landed and turned off the engineers, you freed yourself from the seatbelt and the huge headphones to step out. Shuri received you with a friendly hug, breaking protocol and being just Shuri. You built a strong relationship since you met a year ago, when you brought Bucky to that beautiful and magical place, to let him recover. To let him rest.
“Your highness”. You uttered to T’Challa crossing your forearms in the traditional salutation of Wakanda.
“Agent (Y/N)”. He corresponded walking closer. “The white wolf asked me to let you know he wouldn’t want to be… bothered with visits today”.
You couldn’t help but frown. The last time you saw him was around three months ago. You usually interchanged letters from week to week, being one of the fewer persons he trusted in. And it wasn’t just a question of trust. Steve told you about his feelings, his shyness, and insecurities, his fears. What Bucky didn’t know, again, it wasn’t a question of trust from you either. That’s why the Captain gave you the dog tags, after more than thirteen years under custody. You wanted to see him, to know if he was happy there as he wrote you in his letters one million times.
“He doesn’t wear his arm here”. Shuri clarified, taking a position close to his brother.
By the look on their faces, you were aware of two things. One, they noticed too that something was growing between Bucky and you, and that it wasn’t a simple friendship. Two, they weren’t going to stop you. Oh, quite the opposite. They’d bring you to him on a golden platter and a big red bow on your head. The king beckoned a hand to urge you to follow him to the inside of the building and use one of their ships to fly above the place to the white wolf’s location.
You were nervous. You didn’t sleep more than a couple of hours last night thinking about him and how he’d react to having back his tags since the forties. Your eyes were focused throughout the window on your left, watching different citizens taking care of animals and plantations, children running from one side to another, playing and having fun. Oblivious to the horror of New York, where you resided. One of the cities in the world with the highest rates of street violence. Serial killers or simply killers, rapists, kidnappers, drug dealers (...). It was a minefield and Wakanda seemed and felt like Heaven.
“Did you think about the offer?” Shuri nudged you to push you back to reality, turning your head towards her.
“Since you dropped it to me”.
“So?”
“I…” You needed to put away your gaze again, focusing on the blue opened sky in front of them. “I want… to consult him first if you don’t mind”.
“Of course, (Y/N)”.
“I don’t want to put his world upside down, now that he’s not the…” You couldn’t finish the sentence. You couldn’t pronounce that detestable nickname and the pain beneath it.
Shuri nodded in silence, not needing your explanations. She knew how you felt. She understood you. The talk didn’t continue, stretching your right hand on your lap to calm your nerves and make you comfortable with the situation. The flight didn’t last longer than five or ten minutes, losing the track of time deep in your thoughts. The pilot indicated to you through the headphones that you were about to land, glancing at a complex of small houses in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees and wilderness.
You were the last one jumping outside with your hand grabbing the tags on your chest, trying to find the encouragement there to follow T’Challa’s hand pointing at a man working with goats and collecting hay for them. Licking your lips and assenting with your chin, you guided your steps towards him. Slowly. As if you wanted to turn around at some point. But you knew it was too late when he was the one turning at the sound of your heavy boots cracking the grass under them.
Bucky didn’t look annoyed for your visit, nor the lack of attention to his petition. Although there was something in his pale blue orbs you weren’t able to decipher, until he bowed down his head unconsciously to his left shoulder covered by a dark fabric matching his eyes. You had to do your best to not roll yours, shortening the distance setting you apart. You had been dreaming about that encounter since the last time you were there before Shuri accessed the darkest place of his mind and cleaned it from any trail of HYDRA. Now, he was free. And he looked in good condition as the bags under his eyes had disappeared and his hair was almost tied with a bun. His cheeks seemed a little more chubby and you just wanted to pinch them. But it’d be weird and out of place. For the time being.
Bit by bit, a sweet smile widened in your lips, curving them as Bucky stared at you again when he was conscious that you didn’t care. With or without a metal arm, your feelings were exactly the same. You couldn’t admire him more than you were admiring him at this point. You couldn’t love him more than you loved him already. And God was a witness of how many times you practiced to confess to him and tell him that the only thing you wanted in life was to be by his side. Bring happiness to his days, bring him peace and harmony.
“I'm sorry…” “I brought you…”
You two spoke at the same time, breaking in a soft giggle that jumped your hearts in complete sync.
“You first”. He let you, waving his hand.
“I… brought you something”. You susurrated, loosening the grip around the metal hanging on your chest to take off the necklace.
You noticed the way his eyes widened in surprise and confusion. Why did you have them? Who gave them to you? Why now? Bucky gulped watching you stretching the dog tags between your fingers towards him. He didn’t know what to do, taking a second before he was able to react. He couldn’t remember when was the last time he saw them, and the amount of memories they gave him overwhelmed his whole brain.
In slow motion narrowing his eyes, Bucky held the chain with two fingers to hang the necklace from it. You thought he was about to wear them, but he destabilized you as he directed his hands to above your head, to place them where they were an instant before. You didn’t understand. Didn’t he want them back?
“I want you to keep it”.
“But…”
“I want you to have something mine”. Bucky recognized with a shy smile decorating his lips. “Those tags and my arm are the only things I have from my past. And… I won’t give you my arm…”
“Well, I bet it’d look good hanging from my neck”. You jocked tilting your head.
In his gift, you found the encouragement you needed to talk about T’Challa’s job offer. It wasn’t as if you were proposing to him, in the end, you were just friends even if it felt quite the opposite. You licked your upper lip, kissing your teeth after it, earning more than his attention.
“Shuri said, uh… I could come here, work with her. We’d do great things together, not only for Wakanda but for the world”.
Bucky’s gesture didn’t change a single inch, focused on the nervousness you were trying to hide from him and reading the reasons beneath.
“So T’Challa offered me to stay here”.
“Permanently?”
“Yeah… Permanently”. You assented pressing your lips, breathing through your nostrils.
“Did you accept?”
“Not yet. Not until talking to you about”.
He nodded then a couple of times, turning to the goats behind him coming closer. “Got to finish some stuff… Maybe we can talk later about it unless you have to leave”.
“No, no. I, uh… asked for the day off. Banner didn’t need me at the lab today”.
“Okay, good”.
Tumblr media
While the king was showing you the new level for research and investigations, Bucky took the advantage to go and find Shuri without your knowledge. He found her in the surroundings of the main building, working on your ship as you said it made some kind of random noise that put you out of your nerve during the flight.
“I need my arm”.
The princess squatted close to the left wing, turned at him without standing up. Pulling her sunglasses to the top of his head, she raised an eyebrow.
“For what”.
“You know for what”. He clicked his tongue, placing his hand on his left shoulder.
“No, I don’t”. She lied while cleaning the grass and oil in her expert fingers.
“I need to have two arms”.
“You’ve been working the last months with one arm only. Why do you need it now?”
“C’mon… Argh…” Bucky rubbed his face with boredom. “I want to hug her, okay? Can you just… give me back my damn arm?”
“Not enough reasons, you can hug her using your right”.
“I want to have two hands when I kiss her”. He finally confessed in a hiss, provoking a triumphant smile growing on Shuri’s lips.
“If you lie to me, if you don’t kiss her, Sergeant Barnes… I’ll code it to punch your face”.
“Wait…” Bucky wrinkled his nose drawing a horrified gesture on his face, as he turned his blue eyes towards his left shoulder. “Can you… do that?”
“Try me”.
No, of course she couldn’t, but he didn’t know. Which were a good push for him to not go against her and her petition.
“C’mon. I’ll set it up and help you to put it on”.
Tumblr media
Your eyes were traveling from one picture to another. He put some of them around his small house and it looked better now. More like a home. A place to stay. And for a second you felt a twinge straight in your heart when you noticed one photograph of the two of you, close to his bed. It was after your first mission together. Steve insisted on taking it, after noticing the sparkles between you. But you didn’t know he brought it to Wakanda with him, as your copy is on your nightstand too. And you used to fall asleep every night looking at it.
The curtain being moved and some steps in pulled you out from your thoughts, turning to find Bucky staring in silence at you. Your orbs landed on the metal arm. It was different too since the last time you saw it, with golden strips forming between the silver ones. You couldn’t help but sigh.
“You didn’t need to…”
“Yes, I did. I did need it”. He interrupted you, breathing through his parted lips and his heart about to fly off from his chest.
“Why?”
“Because, otherwise, I couldn’t do this”.
You were about to ask what he was referring to, watching him breaking the distance between the two of you in three fast strides. You closed your eyes at the moment his hands held your neck and Bucky slammed his lips on yours. The kiss, the contrast of cold and warmth on your skin, the everlasting longing for it to happen… All of this caused you to gasp, tangling the tunic at the height of his chest in your fists, not wanting him to take a step back. Your mouths fit perfectly without looking for it, made for each other, as he secured his fingers on the back of your neck. And you felt your knees weak when he pecked your lips one more time, before caressing your nose with his, not being able to open your eyes. Neither of you.
“I don’t have the right… to ask for anything”. He babbled. His insecurities coming afloat even if you hadn’t pushed him away. “But… I want you to stay here. With me. I… I don’t have much to offer you, but I promise to make you happy”.
At this point, your eyes were filled with tears, strongly closing your eyelids to not let them fall. You swallowed a sob, moving your hands from his chest to his middle back, embracing him tighter as you could.
“You’ve been making me happy since we met, Bucky”.
He chuckled breathless, intuiting he was too at the edge of his crying because of that affirmation.
“Every Tuesday, I wait at the stairs of my apartment for the mail, for your letters. I’ve… read them so many times I can recite them… by heart. Every word you've written to me”.
“I will continue writing them for you, even if you stay with me”.
Your voices were low, barely audible out of his place. Like secrets. Bucky kissed you again, bending enough to raise you by the back of your thighs and urge you to surround his waist with your legs. The dog tags on your chest clicked against the other, as you moved your arms to his shoulders and neck, and you were unable to stop kissing him. You two could die right now and not be bothered because you were finally together, and that was all you deserved in life.
“Tell me you will stay… please”. His beg brushed your lips, still pecking them between syllable and syllable.
“I will…” You replied without hesitating as you could, eager to correspond to every gesture from him. “I will stay with you”.

Touch - 5th April
Steve Rogers x reader - Headcannon
Part of my Birthday Challenge - Masterlist
youtube
Steve always has to touch you.
Even when you are in meetings, he makes sure that you are sitting next to each other so he can rest a hand on the back of your chair, or on your knee under the desk.
When Peter made the bizarre choice to sit between you a few weeks ago, Steve's face was pink with anger and he refused to participate in the meeting. Even when Fury called for him to answer a question. He just sat there with his arms crossed.
Sam had to put a ban on the two of you sitting on the armchair together after your last PDA on movie night last month. In his words "the kissing during Jurassic World, along with Clint's gagging noises really ruined the vibe."
When Tony finally let you move into a bigger room in Avengers Tower, Bucky put in a petition for the two of you to be given your own floor instead as he refused to live next door to you.
When Steve is on missions, you can't sleep. You have to teach him how to Facetime so you can see each other's faces before you go to bed.
The day he gets home you lock yourselves away until Nat comes and drags you out to the kitchen to eat.
Past boyfriends have always moaned about how cold your feet are, refusing to cuddle in bed because you would put your feet on them to warm up.
But Steve's super soldier body isn't phased, and he lets you tuck your feet between his to warm up.
On your first holiday together, you tuck yourself into his arm on the plane, desperate to have every part of you touching him to help with the fear of flying.
You pout when he wants to check-in to the hotel without you, leaving you to wait in the lobby, wanting to stand beside him and hold his hand.
But you don't know that he has to do it without you so it doesn't spoil the surprise.
So you don't find out that he's proposing.
As soon as you both get to the room.

Series Masterlist __ Masterlist
< Previous Chapter
“You did what? Are you fucking kidding me right now? Y/N, I love you, but you must have hit your head real hard because this is not like you, at all,” Caroline reasoned, but you could see she was close to losing it completely.
They were both waiting for you to come home that night, and you first had to make sure neither of them would talk about anything you were about to reveal. You trusted both of them with your life, that wasn’t the issue, but you were afraid that if they talked outside of your apartment, Steve might know and the things he could do to them would be the core of your future nightmares, you were sure of it. When they finally agreed, you got to explaining. But you didn’t even get a full sentence out before they started jumping in it, asking questions and wildly swatting their hands, trying to make you see just how stupid of an idea it actually was.
“Do you think I don’t know it sounds insane? I do, but also like, it’s gonna take care of so many issues, and, I mean, all he needs from me, as far as I understood it, is to go to a few events with him, go to some vacations with him and that would be all. I mean, I can still have the job I actually enjoy and don’t have to slave in that fucking pub with all those weirdos, and I won’t have to worry about money,” you tried to sound reasonable and sensible, but from the looks on your best friends’ faces, you weren’t doing too good of a job.
“Right, right, cool. So, you wanna tell me that the most notorious fucking mobster in America will let you live here, with us, while he parades you around the city at night? Or that he doesn’t have enemies you should worry about? Or what about the fucking police, Y/N, huh? Have you thought of that? You will be affiliated with a known criminal, and they will start to notice you and your life won’t be as easy as you picture it,” Aidan sighed and massaged his temples, the stress of it all getting the best of him.
You sat down next to them and smiled at them fondly. It was sweet that they worried so much about you, and just the mere thought that there were people on this planet who gave a shit about you, even to the point of yelling at you at 11 PM on Wednesday night was heartwarming. You understood their reservations, you really did, but you also knew this all before you said yes to Steve. You knew it wouldn’t be as easy, and while you weren’t sure whether you would have to live with Steve in Manhattan or somewhere else, or if he let you just be on your own, you knew you could take it. The police didn’t scare you, you’ve had enough training in diverting the police from yourself, so the police was the last thing on your mind. Besides, you were signing petitions left and right to defund them, so… You were pretty sure they already knew your name from the demonstrations in front of their precincts.
Enemies were a bit more challenging to handle, but you were sure Steve wouldn’t want his new wife to die on his watch. How would that look for him? So really, all that was at stake was your sanity and your integrity, and thinking about it, Steve didn’t ask you to do something illegal. The only thing he wanted from you was to be a good girl, marry him and be by his side. And you could do that. And you were only human, Steve was a sight to behold, so you didn’t mind being connected to him, even though he specifically told you he wasn’t attracted to you.
That one still stung, but maybe it was for the better. You wouldn’t have to worry about doing something stupid when the other party was completely uninterested, and knowing it, you could just never let your body have even a minor crush on him, so the situation really resolved itself even before anything could have happened.
“I really think I can gain more than I can lose, you guys. I didn’t imagine my life being like this, far from it, and maybe Steve and his money can help me get where I want. And I won’t even have to sleep with him or anybody else. He even talked about putting a no-sex clause in our contract so that I would be safe even on paper. You always tell me that I’m not taking enough risks and that I stay rooted in my comfort zone. Well, this is quite the improvement, isn’t it?” You laughed, and they both just shook their heads but chuckled nevertheless.
“You are a psychopath, babe,” Aidan muttered but gave you a side hug, and Caroline soon joined.
“We love you and worry about you, that’s all. But if you feel good about this, then so do we. I just hope he’s ready for our wrath if anything even remotely bad happens to you,” Caroline said, and the three of you started to laugh. You would bet somebody like Steve would be scared shitless from two 20-something-year-olds who, one who was scared of wasps so much she almost fainted every time she saw one, and the other having a hard time peeling a grapefruit. Yup, they were the combat duo you would bet your money on in a fight, for sure.
Tumblr media
Waking up, you had a good feeling about the decision, even more so than the night before. You had mulled it over and over in your head, seeing that this was the way out of everything and also your way to a lot of those things you wanted to have by now. You even thought of the saying, sometimes, the only way out is through, and this was your through. There was no foreseeable way of getting out of debt, of getting out of the depression caused by your hectic and unsatisfying life. Your way through it was accepting Steve’s money and his help for a year, freeing you from the shackles of your current life, in a sense.
That it would come with a different kind of shackled you were sure of, but everything was better than your life now because you really couldn’t even call it a life. You wanted so many things, see so many places, but the world wasn’t made for the people playing by the rules, slaving in their ordinary jobs. No, this capitalist world was made for sharks, and you had been disguised as a sheep for too long.
When you got to the gallery, you were welcomed by a sight that surprised you, and not in a good way. Where you were used to sitting every day for the past two years was another girl. She was pretty, and you bet she was wonderful, but at that very moment, all you saw was that somebody replaced you.
You swiftly unlocked the door and walked in, the girl standing up immediately to greet you with a shy smile and a wave. You couldn’t be a complete bitch to her, after all, this was way above her pay grade. So, you just nodded and strode towards the offices where the director sat.
“Good morning, Ms Y/L/N. I see you have met Laura, our new receptionist. And before you say anything, I just wanted to tell you that we appreciate everything you had done for this gallery for so long and that we thought it was time for you to learn some other skills, as you are more than capable of that,” he smiled warmly, and you weren’t sure if it was a nice way of saying you were let go of, or if you were promoted.
“What does that mean, Mr Jones?” You asked incredulously, not really in the mood to search in between the lines.
“You have become my personal secretary, Ms Y/L/N. Congratulations! I know you have the aspiration of becoming a curator, so, this way, you could get a little closer to art even though there is still some way to go, naturally,” he winked and chuckled, and you let yourself relax with the news.
Wow! Your life was already taking a turn for the better, and all you had to was to go with your gut and risk a little. You wanted to laugh out loud at the universe and its mysterious ways of working. But, thinking of mysterious, your mind suddenly pictured Steve and his devilish smirk, and your smile faltered.
“And may I ask, why now? Don’t get me wrong, I’m extremely grateful for the chance, and I will do my best to succeed in expectations. I just wonder what happened that the chance has come now?”
Mr Jones scratched the back of his neck, and you gritted your teeth. You already knew that it wasn’t the universe praising you for your bravery. No, this had nothing to do with the universe.
“More things have come together, to be quite honest, Ms Y/L/N. First, my long-time secretary left for her maternity leave a few weeks ago, as you might remember, and I have been looking for her replacement ever since. And I forgot what an amazing student we had here, who is already established with the clients and with our partners, and that this will be a win-win situation for everybody. And your fiancée was quite adamant that your resumé is remarkable and that I should give you a chance,” he smiled and piled gathered in your throat.
How Steve managed to persuade Jones to do this was beyond you when you left him only a few hours ago, most of which were during the night, so there wasn’t much room for negotiation between the parties. You just hoped people wouldn’t start treating you differently when they realised your affiliation. That was the only thing you obviously didn’t think through: the opinion of the society. And since the New York society had been one of the most judging and selective ones even back in the 19th and 20th century, you knew not that much has changed since. People were afraid of Steve, with a good reason too, and now they might become frightened of you too. Fucking awesome.
“I want to assure you that my fiancée won’t be present in my work life, however notorious he is,” you tried to sound as confident in what you were saying as you could, but you weren’t sure if you were doing a good job. But Mr Jones just smiled and sat down, signalling for you to sit down opposite of him, and he started talking about business and about what the job actually was. And while you tried to give him your full attention, there was this angry voice in your head, ready to bite Rogers’ head off. He would meet your famous wrath sooner than you thought, but it was all his fault anyway.
Tumblr media
The job was, actually, quite impressive. As your boss told you, you got to meet several artists already, you could sit in the meeting where they decided what kind of art the gallery was interested in, and you soaked all that in like a sponge. You were radiating by the end of the day, and the wrath subsided a little, but only till the moment, you saw a black SUV parked in front of the gallery and one of the turtlenecks standing beside it.
You decided that if Steve could do what he wanted, so could you and so you walked in the opposite direction than was the car, leaving the turtleneck yelling your name and running after you. But you ignored him completely, even when he reached you and patted your shoulder, slightly bewildered that you recognised him and still decided not to do as he said. Oh, these obnoxious mobsters needed to learn that they couldn’t get everything they wanted.
“Miss Y/L/N, please, you need to come with me. Mr Rogers is waiting for you in the car,” he said, and you finally stopped and looked him deep in the eyes while you folded your arms across your chest. You hoped you looked intimidating, but since the guy was wearing a pair of sunglasses you couldn’t be entirely sure whether it worked. But you didn’t relent and just stared him down, and when he shifted uncomfortably, you knew you were winning this contest.
“Would you please come with me? Mr Rogers hates to wait,” he mumbled the last thing, and you would have snickered if you weren’t so determined to be the tough guy there. It was only when you heard other footsteps somewhere behind you, and the guy in front of you actually flinched that you realised the big boss himself was there to get you.
“No, Mr Rogers really doesn’t like to wait, Y/N. Is this the way to treat your fiancée?” Steve asked when he reached you, and you shuddered from the poisonous undertone in his voice. Safe to say, it might not have been the best strategy to try and walk away from him, but you had decided for it once, and now you were gonna stand by your decision.
“Oh, I don’t know, darling,” you hissed but continued before he could comment on your behaviour, “is intimidating my boss to give me a promotion a way to treat me? You really think you have control over everything and everyone, Steve, but let me tell you something. This is my fucking life, and you have no fucking right to march in and do as you please!”
He just raised a brow, and his nostrils flared before you felt his hand on your upper arm, squeezing it so tightly you were sure your arm wasn’t getting any blood. But you didn’t want him to win, which would definitely happen if you pleaded with him, so you just gritted your teeth and stared him down. Steve nodded at the guys around him to leave you two, and they took a few steps back, sure enough to protect their boss but to give him at least some privacy with you.
“Who the fuck do you think you are, talking to me in that tone, huh? I think you’ll understand soon enough that disobedience is punished greatly here, honey! So, stop acting like a brat who gets off from causing scenes in public and come with me. And, for your information, this is a fucking order, and I dare you to move from me again,” Steve spat in your ear, and you trained your eyes on the ground.
Well, not your best idea, you had to admit that, and you valued your own head enough to just shut up and follow him. And by following him, you meant walking beside him because Steve obviously didn’t trust you enough to let go of your arm, even if his grip loosened slightly.
He thrust you in the car with a force that could scare many, but it only just slightly surprised you. When he finally sat down next to you, he bid the driver to just go and stared out of the window, not addressing you in any shape or form, and you huffed in annoyance.
“Look, Steve, you brought me here for a reason, so what do you want? I thought we agreed to meet tomorrow and not today, in broad daylight in front of my job.”
“Show some respect!” He roared, and you saw the eyes of the bodyguards, or whatever they were, flick towards you in fear. It was funny how such huge men were clearly so afraid of one of them. You remained calm, however, and just remained looking at him. Then you realised something. He didn’t mind your mouth the night before that much when the two of you were alone, but he couldn’t stand it when people were around. He needed to be the man, his people needed to know that nobody treated him differently and that not even his future wife could disobey him, let alone publicly. You swallowed your pride and shifted your gaze elsewhere.
“I’m sorry, Steve, I’ve had a long day, and I’m taking it on you now. I just wished you spoke to me before you called my boss, but still, thank you for the opportunity,” you muttered meekly, and the triumphant look on Steve’s face spoke volumes. He just hummed and patted your shoulder, his own shoulders slacking and relaxing. These people were so easy to read, you were actually quite astounded that they weren’t played like violins by some secret agents or something like that. Well, you thought, at least you could play them, and it would make your life a little easier if you did it well enough.
“I came because we needed to discuss more things, honey. I had a pressing matter to attend to yesterday so I couldn’t stay longer, but I have the whole afternoon reserved just for you today, so we can go over all the parts of our agreement in great detail and that we can start planning our wedding,” he flashed you a smile, and it was your time to tense up because if you were to have a wedding soon, which was clearly something Steve wanted, you needed to get a move on and that stressed you out. The arrangement might have been just for a year, but you knew that Steve’s wedding was supposed to be magnificent, showing all that he obtained and all that the mere mortals couldn’t have. You included.
But then you realised something.
“Sure, but I need to take care of something first if you don’t mind,” you added quickly seeing the mobster next to you tensing up again. “As I no longer work at Joey’s pub, I need to get my things from there. My boss called me this morning telling me that I still had my work shoes and other stuff there and that I should pick it up or they’ll throw it away.”
“Just give the address to the driver, we’ll get it, and then we’ll go to my place- oh, excuse me- our place and discuss what we need,” he said simply, and you followed his orders.
The rest of the drive was silent, and you could unwind a little, reminisce about the 24 hours you have had. From taking the subway anywhere you needed to, to driving in an armoured SUV with the most prolific mafia boss of the USA, your life took quite the turn. You needed to set some boundaries with Steve, but you needed to do it tactfully and, most importantly, alone. You hadn’t known him at all, but you knew the type. There would be reasoning with him as long as he thought he had a free choice and knew that his position wasn’t neither threatened nor questioned.
This was a part of your agreement that you actually didn’t mind. Joey’s pub was not the fanciest of places in New York and while some of the customers were lovely and tipped well, the weekend sort was made of sleazy assholes who would touch you without your permission and not having to be around them would definitely be something you could get used to.
The boss who’s name wasn’t Joey, surprise, surprise, but Thomas, nodded your way when you came in. The pub was only half full, but the odour of mixed sweat, beer and vomit was ever the same. Gosh, how you couldn’t wait to be out of there.
Taking the places of the little box by the box with beer cans, you scanned the supply closet one last time and nodded as a goodbye. However, when you turned around, you bumped into somebody, and it sent you flying back a bit as you didn’t expect anybody to be there with you. You looked up to see Thomas standing there, looking pissed.
“Funny! I never knew you were on the market, pussycat. And now I find out you are newly engaged and to Mr Rogers no less? I thought you said you didn’t want a relationship,” he sneered as he neared you and you instinctively took a step back. That he had a crush on you, you knew, and you told him multiple times that you weren’t interested, that you weren’t looking for a boyfriend and that you just wanted to be left alone. You scoffed at his immature behaviour now and tried to push around him without saying a word because you knew there was no talking to people like him. But he wouldn’t let you go, of course.
“Maybe if I fucked you, you would see that I deserve you just as much, huh?” He hissed and took your already sore arm, yanking you towards him till you were pressed tight against his chance. You still remained calm, knowing that trashing and screaming would get you nowhere.
“Let me go, Thomas. Steve is outside, and he is waiting for me, so I suggest you take your disgusting hands off of me and just let me go,” you tried to reason, but, again, there was no such thing with dumbasses like him. What was more, he probably didn’t like your remark about his disgusting hands, and so, without warning, he slapped you right across your left cheek.
That made you gasp for the first time because till then, you really thought he was just playing and that he would let you go, but now seeing the bewildered look on his face, you suddenly realised that maybe you didn’t have the upper hand in the argument.
“Like fuck he is, what would Rogers do in these parts, huh? I bet it wasn’t even him who called me last night and that you were just trying to get the upper hand. But guess what, you fucking whore, you are not getting out of here until I fuck you unconscious,” he roared and you gulped, trying to think of possible escape routes. But you were in a fucking supply closet, so there was literally just the one door, and Thomas was occupying the whole space in front of it. So, you’d just have to fight your way through. You were a little rusty, but this big-bellied idiot would stand no chance.
But before you had the opportunity to execute your plan, the door behind him flew open and revealed one fo the turtlenecks (you made a mental note to actually learn their names because this was just awkward) and a very angry-looking Steve.
Thomas faltered in his movement towards you and checked who had the audacity to interrupt him. The shock and fear on his face were priceless.
Steve didn’t waste any more time as he lunged himself at the man and punched him straight in the nose, and the sickening crack you heard must have meant Steve broke it. But you couldn’t bring yourself to care enough to pity Thomas. You warned him, even though you didn’t expect Steve actually coming to your rescue. There were some advantages to being tied to him, it seemed.
The turtleneck then took Steve’s place by Thomas, probably so that he wouldn’t escape and Steve marched towards you, still looking too pissed for you to stand calmly under his searching gaze.
“Did he hurt you?” He sneered but didn’t wait for your reply as he checked your face, seeing your puffed left cheek which told him all he needed to know. The bruise already forming on your arm was both from him and from Thomas, so he didn’t comment on that, but Steve wiped the trickle of blood in the corner of your mouth before he turned around and now calmly walked towards Thomas.
“Next time that degenerated brain of yours even thinks of her, I will come and slice your throat. Am I clear?” Steve spat into Thomas’s face who just nodded, probably glad that he got out of it so easily. What he didn’t see coming (and to be honest, neither did you) was the turtleneck suddenly pulled out a big-ass knife out of somewhere and the air filled with the bone-chilling cries as he cut Thomas’ finger off as if it was the most normal thing to do before he wiped the knife on Thomas’s shirt and tucked it back in his pocket. The blood flowing from the wound was thick and almost purple, and you had to shut your eyes at the scene. But the image was already seared into your brain forever.
“Fucking rapist,” Steve said and kicked the already laying man, motioning to the turtleneck and you that you were to follow him. But your legs weren’t listening to your brain, as you were just watching Thomas writhing in pain, wailing and sobbing, and all that because he dared to touch you. An involuntary shudder shook your body, and it as only when you felt an arm around your torso, pulling you to the person’s side that you woke up. Steve didn’t say anything as he came back and wrapped his arm around you, walking you out of there, probably used to that people were dazed when they saw that much blood. And that was just a cut-off finger, how would it look if a person actually bled out there?
“Here, have a piece of chocolate, it should help you,” Steve whispered into your ear as he handed you a little piece when you finally made it to his car, and you took it without question, savouring the sweet taste on your tongue as it streamed into your system like the most delicious medicine. You took a deep breath, your brain recognising that it was a different environment and that the stench of the pub was long gone as was the blood.
“You didn’t have to do that,” you heard yourself saying meekly, but there was no reprimanding him, there was no anger in your voice and Steve heard that. He knew it was the shock of the scene talking because you weren’t one of them. You didn’t see blood on an almost daily basis as he did and you had the right to be surprised.
“I actually had to, Y/N. He touched you, he hurt you and nobody hurts what’s mine. And you are mine now or will be very soon, and I can’t have dickheads like him running around the city thinking they are invincible. You are under my protection, and the whole world has to realise that,” he tried to make you see his point, and when you nodded solemnly, he saw you understood it. You might not have been ok with it, but that was another thing, and that would take time. Steve hoped people wouldn’t be so dumb and try anything on you, but, the truth be told, inwardly he knew he would have to protect you more often than not because some people had a death wish.
“Are you up to discussing our marriage, or do you want me to drive you home?” He asked, and you looked at him for the first time since the pub scene. You shook your head and chuckled a little, not understanding where was this coming from. It was apparent that there were many layers to Steve Rogers, but his mood swings were giving you a headache already. One second he was the infamous mobster and the other he impersonated a caring boyfriend?
“I’m fine, Steve, thank you. I was just taken by surprise because I thought I would have to take him down myself, and I probably wouldn’t cut off his finger in the process, but we all do our things. I’m good for a discussion, if you are,” you gave him your best encouraging smile and Steve stared at you in disbelief for a moment before he averted his eyes towards the driver and gave him a signal that he was to take you two to Steve’s mansion.
Tumblr media
Three hours later, you regretted your decision greatly. Steve and you had been talking the whole time, trying to reach a compromise that would be suitable for both of you considering your marriage and your wedding. You were quite surprised when Steve came up with things that were up for discussion because you really thought he would just come with a set of rules for you to follow, and that would be it. Well, the set of rules was there, but so were other things, like where you’d like to live (it was either the New York mansion which he called the apartment or some villa he had in Hamptons, apparently), what were the countries he could take you (which was actually a nice touch) and others. You didn’t give a damn about a lot of the stuff, but the countries were something that caught your attention.
“I would love to visit different places, that’s beyond doubt, but I do not wish to be taken to California, ever,” you insisted, and while Steve tried to inquire why it was that California was on your hard-no list, you wouldn’t budge. You just told him that you weren’t a fan of the hot weather and the swarm of people you heard was in LA and that it was the only place where you wouldn’t go with him, under no circumstances. After a while, he gave up and just jotted it down with a nod.
“Now, to the sex thing, do you want it on paper that I don’t want you in this way or are you good with my word?”
You felt your cheeks heating up, but you tossed your pride away again. This was a business meeting, and Steve was actually extremely honest with you, so the best you could do was to be frank with him as well.
“I’m good with your word, thank you for asking. What I’d like on paper is that you won’t trade me with information. I don’t wanna wake up one morning to be chained by some of your pistol-buddies who wanted to fuck Steve’s wife,” you raised a brow, and Steve chuckled and licked his lips, which was something that got your attention. You snapped at your brain to stop the thought flooding your brain, and a part of you considered putting licking his own lips around you on the hard-no’s list for a second.
“Alright, I will never do that, and I will put that in our contract. Now, have you decided where you want to live? And no, your own apartment isn’t an answer. I’m willing to pay the expenses so that your friends can stay there, but you are coming to live with me, either here or in Hamptons. So, which one is it?”
“Here,” you answered after a while, “I have my job here so I can’t be going back forth to Hamptons every day. Speaking of my job, will you require my presence at every meeting? I’m just asking if I even have a chance attaining my job as is, or if I should quit now because you will never let me go there again.”
“I would have let them fire you if I thought about not letting you work there anymore, now, wouldn’t I? Most of the meetings that I will need you are at night, so your work is fine. I hope your boss will give you enough vacation days because we will need those, but other than that, I think you will be fine at the gallery. Besides, I’ve assigned a personal bodyguard for you who will go everywhere with you, so you won’t have to worry about anybody attacking you,” he concluded, looking proud of himself. You, on the other hand, were bewildered.
“A personal what now? Steve, I can’t just show up at work with some huge guy in all black following me everywhere I move. I saw the looks from some of my coworkers, and they would never accept me if I had a bodyguard, c’mon,” you were desperate now because just the thought made you shudder.
“This is not negotiable, so just learn to live with it. Alright, I think that’s all from that, and we will both sign it before the wedding. Now, the wedding will be next week. I already hired planners, so that the only thing you need to care about is the wedding dress. It’s just for a show, and if it were up to me, we would just go to the city hall, but the world needs to see this wedding, so we’re doing it in the Weylin. Write down your favourite colours and flowers, the cake will be red velvet, and that’s not negotiable, but everything else you want, you write down, and the planners will do it. Also, write down all the guests you’d like to invite, family and all that, so we know how many guests we’re having,” Steve rambled on, but your mind wandered towards your family.
None of them would be attending the wedding, and your heart gave a painful tug at the thought. You had always wanted your dad to walk you down the aisle, and he was so excited to do so, but now that wasn’t possible. And your beautiful mother… The memories made your eyes water, but you blinked the tears away quickly enough so that Steve wouldn’t see them. But he was used to reading people, so he saw your reaction to him mentioning a family very clearly, he just decided against commenting on it. Yet.
“Alright, I’ll send you all the lists by Saturday, if that’s good enough, and I’m actually good with red velvet. It would be a problem if you said some cakes with loads of nuts because I’m extremely allergic to a majority of those, you should know about that, but red velvet is fine enough,” you nodded, and Steve did as well, glad he didn’t have to fight you on that one. Not that it would be a fruitful fight since the red velvet was his favourite type of cake on Earth.
“I want you to move in before the wedding, I’ll have a room set up for you tomorrow, and you can bring whatever you want from your home. You will have access to my credit card, but I’m warning you, excessive spending will not be tolerated, alright?”
You scoffed and rolled your eyes but bowed your head in mocked understanding. Steve had obviously spent his life with women only caring about the sum on his credit card, while you couldn’t care less. The card would be good for the wedding dress, but that was about it. You realised a long time ago that the fashion industry was one of the most dangerous ones for the environment, and while you still shopped from time to time, you tried to reduce it to a minimum. And if you did shop, you loved local stores and fair-trade manufacturers, who vowed to keep the well-being of the planet their number one priority.
“I’ll take it that you understood it. Fine, so, you’ll move in tomorrow, I think my people can manage it till that. So, they’ll pick you up, let’s say, around 8 PM? That enough time?”
You blinked and took the information in. He wanted you to move in tomorrow. Not in a week so you’d have time to actually pack and say goodbye to your friends, even if you still planned on meeting them every other day or so. You wanted a goodbye sleepover where you’d just laugh and drink and hope that the year would be a good one. Or, at least, not a disastrous one.
“That’s definitely not enough time, Steve. Can’t it wait till next week? I need to say goodbye to my friends, and it’s already late, so we can’t do it tonight and just… Give me at least till Saturday evening, Steve, please,” you tried to bargain, and while you saw he wasn’t the greatest of fans, he agreed eventually. That ended your discussion, and you were soon driven away from the house you would soon call yours.

Heroes & Heartbreak
Chapter 3
Summary: Javi apologizes to Ari. She gets to finally go out into the field, and they interrogate Barry Seal. Raid on Tranquilandia happens in this chapter too.
Pairings: Javier Peña x OFC Ariana Morgan—DEA Agent and daughter of Pablo Escobar
Fandom: Narcos
Rating: Explicit 18+ ONLY
Word Count: 3927
Warnings: language, paying for sex, references to sex, pining/mutual attraction, hint of jealousy, discussion of brothel and sex workers, mentions of murder and torture, drug trafficking (duh), raid on cocaine lab, violence...let me know if I missed anything, and I’ll happily add it here!
A/N: Continuing with the slowburn of these two stubborn assholes. We get a little soft Javi when he makes amends with Ari. Also, Ari’s tough side starts to peak out…don’t worry, you’ll get plenty of her being a hard ass in future chapters! This chapter takes place in episode 4. I did add dialogue and scenes directly from the show. This is to make the story transitions smoother (instead of just referencing to things that happen) as well as make it enjoyable to read for people who haven’t seen the show. Hope you enjoy!!!

Javier
Javier lay back on the bed, sweaty and spent, slowly dragging on the cigarette in his mouth. His guest for the evening was slowly pulling on her clothes on the other side of the bedroom. She was petite and had long dark hair. Javi had sought out someone who reminded him of Ari. Even though this woman was pretty, she didn’t hold a candle to his partner. He sighed in frustration. Despite the release he just had, he still felt uneasy. He couldn’t get a certain pair of violet eyes out of his head. Specifically the pain he had put there. Ari had composed herself quickly, but he saw how deeply his words cut. It was a low blow reminding her of her connection to Escobar. He knew how much she hated the fact that he had fathered her.
He had hoped a good, hard fuck would take his mind off everything, but as he pounded into the girl he had bought for the night, he just kept seeing those big, beautiful violet eyes. The woman—he couldn’t remember her name—pulled him from his thoughts as she walked to his side of the bed and leaned over him to give him one last kiss.
“That was fun,” she purred. “Come see me whenever you want, Javier.” She picked up the money from his night stand and let herself out of the apartment. He heard his front door shut, and just a few moments later he heard Ari’s door open and shut. He glanced at the time and realized she was just getting home from the embassy. Damn, she does work hard. He realized she must have seen the woman leaving his apartment. He sighed. Not like she could think any less of him at this point. He was such a dick to her today. He wanted to make it up to her, but he wasn’t sure how. He hoped his apology would be enough. He got up to take a quick shower before trying to get some sleep.

Javier
The next morning Javier beat Ari to the embassy. She was always there before both men, but he wanted to get there early to apologize to her without Steve watching. He set his peace offerings down on her desk and sat at his own to wait for her to arrive.
Javi didn’t have to wait long. Ari walked in with an air of happiness around her. Javi wondered why she was in such a good mood. She faltered slightly when she noticed Javi was already there. She got to her desk and noticed Javi’s gifts: a cup of coffee, just the way she liked it, an arepa boyacense, and a single red rose. She looked around to see if there was a note.
“Good morning,” he said quietly.
“Good morning,” she sent back with a soft smile. God, he thought, how can she still look at me with that warmth after the way I treated her? “Do you know who left this here?” She asked, gesturing to the gifts on her desk.
“Ah, yeah, that would be me,” Javi confessed, rubbing the back of his neck. Her eyes went wide.
“You?” She was genuinely confused as to why Javi would give her anything.
“Yeah...listen,” he started as he stood up and approached her. He sat down against her desk, Ari standing in front of him. That put him closer to eye level with her. “I want to apologize for yesterday.”
“Javi, I already told you, you don’t need to apologize,” she insisted. “You were just speaking your mind. I’m a big girl. I can take criticism.”
“No,” Javier argued. “I do need to apologize. I was way out of line. I was pissed about the sicarios getting away. Then you made the comment about me having fun, and I took my frustration out on you. You don’t deserve that.” She looked away.
“Look at me,” he said, his hand lightly grasping her chin and gently turning her face back to him. “You never deserve to be spoken to like that. Do you understand me? I’m so sorry I threw Escobar in your face. And I know you’re not sitting here because you want to. I know you’re brave, and a great agent. I do respect you, and I know you’ll fight like hell to put that bastard where he belongs.” As he spoke, his hand had let go of her chin and slowly splayed out across her jaw. His thumb gently grazed across her full bottom lip. Christ, she was beautiful. “Please forgive me,” he whispered. When had her mouth gotten this close to his. Ari stared down at his beautiful, pouty lips. Then looked back up into his eyes. Her hand came up to cup his that was resting on the side of her face. She pressed her face lightly into his hand, closing her eyes for a moment.
“Of course, Javi,” she whispered back, opening her eyes. “Just stop being an asshole, and we’ll call it even.” She gave him a cheeky grin, and he felt his heart clench. His gazed dropped back down to her mouth. He was so close and so tempted. Her tongue swiped across her bottom lip, and he almost groaned. He was just about to lean the rest of the way in when the door opened. Ari jumped back from him like he was a snake about to bite. Steve walked in looking tired, but happy. Connie must have given him dessert last night after all. Steve hadn’t even noticed the two of them standing so close, about to kiss.
“Morning, guys,” he said in his typical morning voice, still a little rough from lack of use.
“Morning,” Ari and Javier chorused back. Steve looked between the two of them and his eyes settled on Javi.
“Everything good?” He asked with a raised brow. Javi nodded. “So, he apologized to you, Ari?” Ari seemed a bit dazed. Javi hoped she was just as affected as him by their almost kiss.
“Uh, yeah,” she finally answered. “He even brought me goodies,” she added, gesturing to her desk. Steve nodded in approval.
“Alright, man. Good,” Steve told him. He sat at his desk. Javi shoved off Ari’s desk and sat at his own as she lowered herself into her chair. The men quietly got to work as Ari opened up her breakfast. She breathed in the tantalizing aroma. She let out a small hum of pleasure.
Javier’s head shot up from his paperwork at the sound of her quiet moan. He smiled to himself when he saw how pleased she was with his gift. He knew arepas were her favorite. It warmed him to know he was the one who gave her that little pleasure.
Javi didn’t notice Steve looking at him. He was too caught up watching Ari enjoy her breakfast. If he had looked at Steve, he would have seen the smug smirk that spread across his face. Javi’s desire for Ari was clear in his expression. He had no idea he was being watched. Javi would never let anyone see behind the mask he put up around their partner. What he didn’t know was it had been pretty clear to Steve for awhile now that Javi had the hots for Ari. Javier heard Steve clear his throat. It startled Javi out of his trance. When he glanced over at Steve, he saw him buried in his paperwork.
“So,” Steve began, “you really forgave this asshole?” He nodded towards Javi. Javi scowled at Steve.
“Yep,” Ari said with a grin. “Though, if I’m being honest, it took a shit ton of self control not to punch him in the face yesterday.”
“Well, thanks for the restraint,” Javi said with a grimace.
“Mm hmm,” Ari hummed. “I can’t promise to restrain myself in the future, though...so keep that in mind before you decide to run your mouth again.”
“Noted,” Javi said solemnly. He would be more careful. Not because he was worried about getting punched in the face—he never wanted to see hurt in Ari’s eyes again.
“How’d it go with Noonan last night, Ari?” Steve asked after a moment. She met his eyes and a huge smile spread across her face.
“I’m cleared for field work,” she said, barely containing her excitement.
“That’s awesome!” Steve exclaimed. “Can’t wait to see you in action.” Ari peered over at Javi. He gave her a warm, genuine smile.
“Welcome to the team, hermosa,” he congratulated her in a husky voice. She blushed slightly, smiled, and turned back to her food. The day ended up being uneventful, but Javi knew Ari enjoyed it nonetheless. He was different that day. He decided enough was enough and he would treat her the same way he would treat anyone else he was partnered with. It wasn’t her fault she was fucking gorgeous and he couldn’t control his thoughts around her. She deserved to be treated with the same kindness and respect he offered to Steve...as well as the teasing and fun.
Javier didn’t know it, but that day, for the first time since she arrived in Colombia, Ari felt like she was exactly where she was meant to be.

Ariana
It had been a couple days since Ari had been cleared for fieldwork. Unfortunately, there were no leads, so she spent most of the time at her desk. Ari arrived at the embassy before her partners, like usual. She grabbed a coffee and sat down. After about an hour she got up to get more coffee and grabbed two more mugs. She placed them down on Steve and Javi’s desks. She sat back down and continued her work. The two men arrived a few minutes later.
“Morning, Ari,” Steve said with a sleepy smile. She smiled at him. Her breath caught in her throat as Javi filed in behind him. It was as if the few hours between shifts somehow made her forget how handsome he was.
“Good morning, hermosa,” Javier said with a slow smile. She blushed slightly and bid him good morning. She liked this new side of Javi. He was much sweeter than before. The men sat at their desks, and they all got to work.
“Any luck with Barry Seal?” Steve asked them. Barry Seal was former CIA turned drug trafficker for the Medellín cartel. They had been trying to track him down for weeks.
“Yeah, actually,” Ari told him. “I was able to track down somewhere he goes pretty regularly.” The men looked at her. “It’s a brothel.” She showed them the information she had gathered.
“I know this place,” Javi said. Steve and Ari looked at him. “What?” Ari rolled her eyes.
“Of course you do,” she said with a smirk.
“Hey,” Javi said, offended.
“Alright,” Steve said, grabbing his gun, “so we stake out the place and wait for him to show.” Javi nodded, grabbing his as well. They then noticed Ari standing, pushing her gun into the waistband of her jeans at her lower back. Javi quirked an eyebrow. She looked back and forth between the two men.
“What?” She said. “I’m cleared for field work. I’m going with you.” Steve chuckled.
“Sorry, Ari,” Steve said. “I completely forgot. Not used to you joining us.” He gave her a big smile that she returned.
“Well, it’s about time I get out there and teach you boys how it’s done,” she teased. Javi laughed.
“Oh, here we go,” Javi said. “You gonna keep us in line, hermosa?”
“Someone has to,” she told him with a bright smile. Then she shook her head. “I can’t believe my first day out in the field is to a fucking brothel.” She laughed. They parked outside the brothel and got comfortable in the Jeep, waiting for Barry to show. They had been there a few hours when they saw him approach.
“Let’s go,” Ari said.
“Wait,” Javi told her.
“Why?” She asked, quirking her brow.
“Let the poor guy have his last hurrah before we haul his ass into jail,” Javi said with a shrug. Steve laughed.
“Only you, Javi,” she said with a shake of her head.
“What? These girls work hard, let them get his money one last time,” Javi argued. They waited another hour for Barry to have his fun.
“So how do you know about this place, Javi,” Steve asked him. “Come here often?”
“Oh I’m sure he comes every time he’s here,” Ari said with a chuckle. Steve laughed loudly.
“A friend told me about this place,” Javi insisted. “I’ve never been here before.” Steve just laughed. “No, I’m serious.”
“You don’t have any friends, Javi,” Ari teased. Just then the door to the brothel opened and Barry Seal made an appearance, saying goodbye to two of the girls.
“Look,” Steve said, bringing their attention to the target.
“Oh, my God,” Javi said. That’s Freckles. I know her.” Steve chuckled and Ari resisted the urge to slap the back of his head. They got out of the car and approached Barry just as he was closing the gate.
“Until next time,” he called out to the girls.
“Goddamn, is that Barry,” Steve said, shaking his hand.
“Or should we say McPickle?” Javi said.
“Come on,” Steve told him, leading him to the car, “we got you a ride waiting over here.”
“Hi, Vanessa,” Javi said, waving to one of the girls. He turned back to the car to see Ari watching him, arms crossed and eyebrow cocked.
“Never been here, hmm?” She said. Javi at least had the decency to look a little sheepish. She laughed softly. “Let’s go, Casanova.” She walked back to the car and desperately tried to push down the jealously she felt rearing it’s ugly head. They took Barry to an abandoned house to interrogate him. He gave them his ‘get out jail free card’. Which turned out to be a photo of Escobar unloading cocaine on a tarmac in Nicaragua...a communist run country.
“Holy shit,” Javi said later in their office, looking at the photo.
“Gotta turn this over to the ambassador,” Steve told him.
“Wait, wait, wait,” Javi stopped him. “No. This leaks wide and Barry Seal is a dead man. We gotta be careful.”
“Why are you trying to protect some scumbag who’s trafficked over 500 tons?” Steve asked him incredulously. Ari sensed a...current between the two men. Something was bothering Steve.
“I have a code of ethics when it comes to informants,” Javi said simply.
“But not when it comes to torturing suspects with hot coffee,” Steve said, shaking his head, referring to an interrogation of Carrillo’s they had witnessed before Ari.
“You know,” Javi muttered, “I wouldn’t judge Carrillo.”
“Why is that?” Steve asked, annoyed.
“You had a partner killed,” Javi said. “He’s had a dozen.”
“He also tortured our partner for three days,” Steve shot back. Ari’s eyes went wide for a moment as both men looked at her. Steve turned back to Javier “I’m just saying Javi, you seem to care more about protecting these scumbag informants than you care about protecting Ari.” There it was. That was what Steve was tense about.
“Steve—” Ari started.
“—What the fuck, Murphy?” Javi cut in through clenched teeth. Steve just raised his eyebrows in challenge.
“That was outta line, Steve,” Ari warned him. She had no idea where this was coming from. She knew Steve and Carrillo had some tension between them, but she never suspected he still held a grudge about her interrogation. “Javi had nothing to do with that. Hell, Carrillo only let me go because of Javi.” Ari knew the colonel wouldn’t have sprung her loose for anyone else. He trusted Javier.
“All I’m saying is you need to get your shit straightened out, Peña,” Steve fumed and left the room. Ari blew her breath out.
“What the fuck was that about?” She asked, turning to Javier.
“I have no fucking idea,” Javi snapped, still pissed at his partner. Suddenly he turned to Ari. “He’s wrong...I do give a shit about keeping you safe.” Ari nodded.
“I know you do Javi,” she assured him.
“I mean it, hermosa,” he said gently. “I will do anything to protect you.” She couldn’t help the warmth that spread through her at his protectiveness.
“Same for me, Javi,” she told him. “I have your back, no matter what. And that asshole too, even though he pissed me off today.” She nodded in the direction Steve had stormed off. They laughed and the tension went out of Javi’s shoulders.
A couple days later the photo was being circulated worldwide. Javi and Ari knew Steve had taken the pictures to Noonan. Ari tried her best to keep Javi from blowing up at Steve. She understood both their sides, so she was trying to keep the peace between her two hotheaded partners. When the news of Barry Seal’s murder came in, she knew the anger would boil over. Ari and Steve were sitting at their desks, reviewing negatives when Javi stormed in. He ripped the negatives out of Steve’s hands and slammed them on his desk. He pointed in his face.
“Motherfucker!” Javier shouted. “I told you we had to be careful. You got Barry Seal killed.”
“Peña,” Steve said unemotionally, “if he wanted a long life, he should’ve worked at Kodak.”
“You’re responsible for his death, asshole,” Javi spat out, jabbing his finger angrily at Steve. He turned to leave when Steve spoke again.
“I didn’t kill him, Escobar did.” He told him. Javi turned back, a scowl on his face. “Now we can go after that motherfucker. Look on the bright side, man.” Javi stormed out. Steve smiled smugly.
“You didn’t need to be an asshole about it, Steve,” Ari scolded him.
“What?” He looked bemused.
“You went behind our backs with this one,” she replied. “I get why you made the call, but we have to be able to trust each other, Steve.”
“I’m sorry, Ari,” Steve apologized, shame filling him. “I wasn’t really thinking about it being a betrayal to you guys. I just want to get Escobar.”
“We all do,” she chided. “Let’s just make sure we’re all on the same team here.” Steve nodded. She got up and walked over to his desk. She perched her hip on the side of it. “Steve...you need to let the shit with Carrillo go.”
“Ari—” he started to argue.
“—No,” she cut in. “I’ve forgiven him. It’s time you moved on, Steve. Carrillo’s methods are harsh, but he gets the job done.” Steve sighed loudly.
“You’re right,” he conceded. “I fucking know you’re right. It still bugs me though. It just fucking sucks we have to do these things, you know?”
“Yeah,” Ari agreed. “It’s a shitty world we’re living in, Murphy.”
“Ain’t that right,” he mumbled.
“Don’t stress too much about it,” she said softly. “Don’t want you hurt that adorable tiny brain of yours.” Steve scoffed and shoved her shoulder playfully. “Now, get back to work. And apologize to Javi.” Steve let out an exaggerated groan but agreed.

Javier
Even though Javier had been pissed at Steve for turning over the photo, it brought the world’s attention to their war against Pablo Escobar. The US government determined that fighting the narcos was the same as fighting communists. A huge influx of money and all the resources they needed were at their disposal. With the help of US intel and resources, the Colombians were able to raid labs all over the country and seize over a billion dollars in cocaine. But they still hadn’t nabbed any of the Medellín kingpins. A tracking device was put on a Colombian-bound shipment of ether, one of the necessary ingredients to process cocaine, and it led them to Tranquilandia, Medellín’s largest processing lab.
Steve, Ari, and Javier went along with Carrillo and his men to raid the lab. It was...intense. Carrillo’s men went in first, guns blazing, grenades exploding. The firefight was unlike any that had encountered yet in Colombia. The DEA agents followed in, guns out, ready for trouble. They moved through the lab with deadly, methodical precision. Javier and Steve couldn’t help but watch Ari. It was like she was a completely different person. Gone was the sweetness that seemed to surround her. She was cold, efficient, and dangerous. She took down a dozen men without blinking an eye. Her partners watched her in awe, and for the first time since they met her, they could actually believe she was Pablo Escobar’s daughter.
When they had cleared the lab, they had finally been able to capture their first Medellín kingpin, Carlos Lehder. He approached the Americans and offered then five million dollars to give him an hour’s head start.
“There’s no way out, Carlitos,” Javier told him. “You’re going to Disneyland.” Lehder looked to Ari.
“Ariana,” he said. “Where is your loyalty?” She laughed.
“My loyalty lies exactly where it should,” she sneered at him. “And that’s not with filth like you.” Carrillo’s men pulled Lehder away. She looked around the decimated lab. “Holy shit...this was a good fucking day.” Steve and Javier smiled.
“Fuck yeah, it was,” Steve agreed. “And I have to say, Ari, seeing you in action today was incredible.”
“Huh?” She asked, confused.
“You were fucking amazing, hermosa,” Javier told her.
“Thanks,” she said, trying not to preen under their praise. It felt good to be recognized for her hard work. She was a damn good agent, but most men just saw her as someone to fetch them coffee. Carrillo walked up to them just then.
“We did good work here today,” he told them. “Lehder is a big win for us.” They all agreed. “We should celebrate. Drinks tonight?”
“I’d love to man, but I promised the wife a date night,” Steve said with a sheepish grin. Carrillo smiled, understanding completely.
“Yeah, uh,” Javier muttered, “I have a...meeting tonight.”
“A meeting?” Carrillo said with a raised brow.
“That’s code for sex with an informant,” Ari told him. Javi’s eyes snapped to her. “What? Don’t look surprised, Javi. I’ve known you long enough now to read between the lines.” His face warmed slightly.
“Well, since your partners are going to be busy fucking tonight”—Carrillo said, turning to Ari—“do you want to go for a drink?” The guys grimaced at Carrillo’s blunt wording.
“Hell, yeah,”Ari said with a smile. “I mean, I’d rather be fucking too, but whiskey is always a great second choice. Same place as last time?” Carrillo nodded.
“And who knows,” Carrillo said casually, “maybe I can help you find someone to fuck tonight too.”
“Aww, Colonel,” Ari said with a laugh, “are you offering to be my wingman?”
“Anytime,” he said with a smirk.
“Sounds good,” Ari told him. “I’ll meet you there later.” He nodded and walked off to finish up before they could leave. Javi clenched his fists in anger at the thought of Ari going home with some guy at the bar.
“Last time?” Steve asked her.
“Yeah,” Ari said with a shrug. “We’ve gone drinking together a few times.”
“Since when are you two friends?” Javier asked.
“Since I decided he’s more fun than sitting at home by myself.”
“Carrillo is fun?” Steve said incredulously.
“Oh yeah,” Ari nodded. “He’s actually hilarious when he’s not hunting sicarios.” The men looked dumbfounded at her admission. She laughed at their expressions. “Come on, you two. Let’s get outta here.”

I Watched the First Episode of Every New Spring 2021 Anime Airing on Crunchyroll
Hey, are you like me, and feeling like you're not getting the most out of your Crunchyroll subscription? Sure, there's stuff on there that you know you like. But whenever I look at the big long list of simulcasting shows, my eyes glaze over and I don't even know where to begin.
I wanted to change my habits and see if there were any shining gems that I should be watching. So, as per the title, I watched the first episode of every new Spring 2021 anime on Crunchyroll. And guess what? There’s a lot of crap! But indeed, there’s some stuff that’s worth your time.
Some clarification: I've only watched shows that began their first season in April 2021.
Backflip!!

The Lowdown
As Futaba Shotaro comes to the end of middle school, his interest in baseball has begun to wane. Soon he notices the Ao High Boys Gymnastic Club and becomes enthralled, especially after seeing them perform. Once he learns they're down two members, he chooses to sign up and pursue the art of gymnastics. The club is also joined by Misato Ryoya, a star solo gymnast looking to expand his technique through teamwork.
Our Thoughts
Pretty formulaic shoujo sports anime: you've got your himbo, your thug, your ladies' man, your stoic guy, with Shotaro rounding out the cast as the shy and awkward audience surrogate. It looks wholesome enough, and the choreographed routines employ CG in a way that's quite convincing without being hideous.
Who It's For
Fans of  FREE, or Yuri!!! on Ice, or any similar shows about cute boys who succeed at athletic feats.

Burning Kabaddi
Show Link
The Lowdown
Legendary high school soccer star Yoigoshi Tatsuya has given up on sports! That is, until he's blackmailed to join the high school kabaddi team, under threat of his online persona being leaked to the entire school. Although Tatsuya initially writes kabaddi off as stupid, the unexpected happens as he begins to have fun.
Our Thoughts
Kabaddi is kinda like competitive tag, or dodgeball but with your body instead of a ball. Burning Kabaddi is basically the shounen alternative to Backflip!! above, replete with nosebleeds, pratfalls, and dudes punching each other. The main cast don't seem to like each other very much; that probably changes as the show goes on but at first blush it's a dynamic I always find annoying.
Who it's For
Fans of Haikyuu!!? Maybe?

CARDFIGHT!! VANGUARD overDress
Show Link
The Lowdown
The newest series based on Bushiroad's collectible card game, featuring character designs by the beloved collective CLAMP. Petit middle schooler Yu-Yu just doesn't know how to say no. As his older students dress him in drag to use as live makeup practice, he suffers a panic attack and flees into the streets. After being accosted by a pickup artist, he's befriended by Megumi, who invites him to witness a Cardfight match at the local abandoned amusement park. However, Yu-yu is too shy to tell Megumi he's actually a boy…
Our Thoughts
What an unexpectedly weird concept for a show about a card game. Our hero spends the whole episode in drag, whimpering and simpering at the sight of any conflict. Then they show off the latest series of cards, which all seem to be giant buff knights with names like "Bad Steve" and "Violent Bruce". Your guess is as good as mine.
Who it's For
Cardfight!! lovers, Japanese gender studies majors, or the most desperate fujoshi.

Cestvs: The Roman Fighter
Show Link
The Lowdown
The year is 54AD, and Nero has taken the throne as the youngest emperor of Rome. At the bottom of the population, Cestvs is a young slave training to be a colosseum boxer. Reluctant, his only choice is to fight or die.
Our Thoughts
Seeing Nero depicted as a gentle little twink is pretty funny. It's also pretty funny that the central character is named after a Roman boxing glove. The animation style transitions to some very uncanny CG when a major fight takes place, and I didn't like that one bit! This seems like a pretty average tournament anime but with a historical setting. It's currently unknown if any of these dudes are fucking each other. I'm gonna say probably.
Who It's For
The venn-diagram of Greco-Roman history buffs and lovers of tournament series?

Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro!
Show Link
The Lowdown:
Hachioji Naoto is a nerdy, introverted student who spends his time studying and avoiding socialising. When pages from the fantasy manga he's drawing fall out of his bookbag, they catch the attention of a younger student named Nagatoro Hayase. Nagatoro begins to tease Naoto for his otaku interests and awkward demeanour, peppered with some suggestive flirting.
Our Thoughts:
What would you do if a younger girl flirted with you? Would you cry? Piss your pants maybe? Maybe shit and cum? Don't Toy With Me… attempts to barely conceal its BDSM fantasy with its comedic elements, but it's incredibly apparent as Nagatoro always wipes away Naoto's tears as a sort of aftercare. It's like a lighter, comedic version of Aku no Hana, but lacking any of the ponderings or danger that made that work so special.
Who It's For:
People who search Pornhub for "bratty sister femdom".

86 Eighty-Six

The Lowdown
The Republic of San Magnolia and the Giad Empire, have been at war for nearly a decade. Using advanced military technology, the frontlines are fought by giant mecha drones called Juggernauts, controlled remotely by Handlers. Major Vladilena Mirizé is one of the military's most talented Handlers in the 1st District, and one who is constantly teased by her peers for the humanity and empathy she shows her squadron. The government line is that drone warfare has kept casualties to zero, but unbeknownst to the public these "drones'' are piloted by 86ers—the lowest class of citizens, forced to live in military internment camps in San Magnolia's 86th District.
Our Thoughts
This is incredibly my kind of thing. We've got a dual narrative being set up here: Vladilena as the kind, reluctant officer of a fascist regime, and the Bad Company-esque antics of her new ragtag squad, Spearhead. The first episode is split pretty evenly between the two, with each story converging at the end as Vladilena "meets" Spearhead for the first time through her comms station. It's an explosive and enticing first episode, and I can't wait to watch more of it.
Who It's For
Fans of Fullmetal Alchemist, Psycho-Pass, Gundam, or any number of anti-imperialist war stories.

Fairy Ranmaru
Show Link
The Lowdown
In a quiet corner of the city sits Bar F, a modest drinking establishment staffed entirely by five hot young men. Unbeknownst to the general population, these men are a crack team of fairies sent to the human world to gather the latent energy of "attachment". They do this by solving the problems of young women, taking their hearts in the process.
Our Thoughts
Hubba hubba, a little something for the ladies! It's Weiẞ Kreuz with a bar instead of a flower shop, fairies instead of assassins, and some pretty revealing outfits. There's definitely a little Persona 5 inspiration here too, from the punctuating phrase "Take your Heart!" to many of the visual cues. Make of that what you will.
Who It's For
Fans of Weiẞ Kreuz, slash fic authors.

Farewell, My Dear Cramer

The Lowdown
Onda Nozomi was once the star player of her middle school football team. Completely unmatched, she no longer plays as there's no opponent she deems to be on her level. Meanwhile Suou Sumire far outpaces her teammates, causing her frustration. By a twist of fate, these two girls find themselves joining the scrappy Warabi Seinan High School FC as they begin to learn the value of teamwork and friendship.
Our Thoughts
I don't know sports. And I really don't know football. I had to look up what the title meant, and now I barely know who Dettmar Cramer is. I'm really not the best person to judge this, but it seems like a pretty good female-driven sports anime.
Who It's For
Fans of Ace o Nerae! or other sports manga/anime about those ever burning bonds between young teammates.

Gloomy, the Naughty Grizzly
Show Link
The Lowdown:
Pitty lives with his pet Gloomy, a massive pink bear. Can a boy and a bear truly get along?
Our Thoughts:
This is a series of minute-long gag episodes in which Gloomy mauls Pitty and blood squirts everywhere. It's definitely meant to be a morbid parody of Sanrio or San-X; it might be a Rilakkuma parody in particular? Gloomy is the kind of thing you might laugh at if it came on in between shows, but it's pretty slight to go through the trouble of putting on.
Who It's For:
Gag anime fans with one minute to spare.

Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway
Show Link
The Lowdown
After a night of drinking in Tokyo, slovenly salaryman Yoshida encounters a teenage runaway sitting under a lamppost. She offers to sleep with him in return for letting her spend the night in his apartment. Yoshida refuses her offer but allows her to stay. The next morning the girl, Sayu, reveals she's travelled all the way from Hokkaido, sleeping with random men in return for lodging and money. Feeling responsible for her safety, Yoshida agrees for Sayu to stay indefinitely in return for handling household chores.
Our Thoughts
This is kind of the inverse of Koikimo (see below), but without a scumbag character and from a male perspective. It's not nearly as nauseating as that show, but it's still a fantasy about living with a busty teenage girl.
Who It's For
Libertarians.

I've Been Killing Slimes For 300 Years And Maxed Out My Level
Show Link
The Lowdown:
Office lady Aizawa Azusa dies of overwork in her early 20s, and finds herself standing before a lecherous goddess. Allowed a wish as compensation for her untimely demise, Azusa wishes for an endless life of leisure. The goddess reincarnates her as a 17-year-old immortal witch in an RPG-coded fantasy world. Thrilled, Azusa lazes about, brewing potions for her neighbouring villagers, and kills a small amount of slimes each day to supplement her income. After doing this every day for 300 years, she inadvertently finds herself at Level 99. Her peaceful life is soon upended as adventurers and dragons come from miles around to challenge the legendary witch.
Our Thoughts:
I'm not really an isekai fan, and that goes double for series which aren't set in an RPG, yet use RPG mechanics. Levelling up, grinding stats, min-maxing, as if it's a part of the fabric of the setting. I don't get it. I like watching numbers go up as much as the next dork, but I don't need to watch numbers go up in absolutely every piece of media I consume. Just play a fucking video game, Jesus Christ almighty.
I thought this might be setting up a fun series in which a layabout is reluctantly called upon to undertake a dangerous quest, but I don't think that's what's going on at all. When the red dragon Laika wrecks Azusa's house, she transforms into a cute young girl and the two begin living together, teaching each other the pros and cons of hard work and slothfulness respectively. The trajectory of the series might be as laid back as its protagonist in the end, which, ultimately, would be fitting.
Who It's For:
Isekai fans, slice-of-life fans. The twain have met!

Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood
Show Link
The Lowdown
In alternative history Japan the Meiji Period continued well into the 1930s, and the ongoing Tokugawa Shogunate has brought technological prosperity to the nation through a magical energy source called the Dragon's Vein. Sawa Yukimura runs a bookshop where she lives with her little sister by day, but by night she's an assassin for Nue, the shogunate's secret police. As the terrorist group Kuchinawa deploys transforming beasts in an attempt to topple the shogunate, Nue springs into action with their own abilities.
Our Thoughts
There are a lot of concepts competing here, and a few too many flashy transformation sequences for my taste, but I'm really into it! Nue are made up of sex workers and street musicians, often overlooked and therefore easily able to blend in. There's a supernatural Standalone Complex vibe to how the team operates, and they're almost assuredly on the wrong side. Worth a shot!
Who It's For
Fans of alternate history science fiction, Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex, Demon Slayer.

Koikimo: Koi to Yobu ni wa Kimochi Warui ("It's Disgusting to Call This Love")

The Lowdown
Amakusa Ryo is a womanizing salaryman concerned with nothing but his own base desires. As he slips on the train station stairs one morning, he's saved by the swift action of Arima Ichika, a kind-hearted high schooler. When it turns out Ichika is friends with Ryo's younger sister Riou, he decides she's his soulmate, and begins to pursue her no matter how many times she refuses him. Comedy ensues!
Our Thoughts
Yeah, OK groomer.
Alright look, Korikimo is written by a woman and told from Ichika's perspective, so this is obviously meant to be a lighthearted "older man" shoujou romance. As an older man, all I saw were the adventures of a paedophile and the teenager he's stalking. Fuck off.
Who it's For
There's probably other stuff like this, right? If you like that, here you go.

Let's Make a Mug, Too
Show Link
The Lowdown
After the death of her mother, Himeno and her father relocate from bustling Tokyo to quiet Tajimi City in Gifu Prefecture. The former salaryman opens a quiet cafe using the remarkable mugs made by his late wife, while Himeno follows in her mother's footsteps and joins the school pottery club. Although her first project ends in disaster, Himeno makes fast friends with the eccentric pottery enthusiasts who make up the club.
Our Thoughts
It's no Eizouken, but I guess it's probably not meant to be. I'm not a big iyashikei genre fan, but if that's your thing, you might enjoy the wholesome non-adventures of three girls trying to make a mug. It's worth noting these episodes are only about 12 minutes long, with the remaining runtime segmented into live action episodes where the voice actresses tour Tajimi and unconvincingly pretend to be interested in Gifu's famous mino-yaki pottery. I think this must be a tie-in with a local tourist board.
Who It's For
People who enjoy stuff like Aria, actually.

OddTaxi

In a Tokyo populated by anthropomorphic animals, a solemn walrus named Odokawa spends his nights driving his cab around the bustling metropolis, spending his free time drinking with his pals. Odokawa soon finds his quiet life disrupted by a caper involving a missing girl, some crooked cops, and the animal yakuza.
Our Thoughts
A deft blend of working class slice-of-life with mystery, cute animals, and striking visual design. OddTaxi might be the sleeper hit of Spring 2021.
Who It's For

SD Gundam World Heroes
Show Link
The Lowdown
The newest instalment of the SD Gundam media-mix franchise. In a world populated by super deform mecha, a burning meteor lands in the middle of Captain City. From it launches a terrible mechanized beast: Naughty Lion. When the police are powerless to stop it, a crack team led by Zhuge Liang Gundam and Liu Bei Gundam sorties to bring Naughty Lion to justice. When the beast stops rampaging, it transforms into Sun Wukong Gundam, a youthful amnesiac mecha horrified at the destruction he wrought. The Three Kingdoms Gundams welcome Sun Wukong into the fold to make sense of this mysterious event.
Our Thoughts
I'm an 80s kid, I know a 30-minute toy commercial when I see one.
No, seriously though, I'm aware of SD Gundam's merchandising—they're cute designs, and I even used to have a bunch of the gum rubber mini figurines. I've played the SD Great War Super Famicom games, they're fun! This is a vehicle to get kids hyped up about the latest toys, which are...based on  a hodgepodge of Journey to the West and Romance of the Three Kingdoms this year? There's even a little SD Guan Yu Gundam with a big long beard!
I kinda wanted to like the idea of a bearded robot, but the mechas are super busy and overdesigned. I guess there's only so much you can do to make your next series of toys bigger and better, so these guys are all decked out in gold accents, capes, horns, and antlers, and half the time I couldn't parse what I was seeing.
I'm so glad I don't have to watch any more of this.
Who It's For
Very, *very* young mecha fans.

Seven Knights Revolution: Hero Successor
Show Link
The Lowdown
Long ago, the Dark God Nestra ruled the world through fear. Standing against him were the Seven Knights, seven brave warriors chosen by the Light Goddess Serrass. With their powers combined, Nestra was defeated and the lands returned to peace. Hundreds of years later the wicked Physis Cult seeks to revive Nestra, summoning undead beasts to ravage the countryside. With the Seven Knights long dead, the Granseed Academy has risen to train the next wave of heroes to combat this threat. Using special cards, the students of Granseed are able to call upon the power of the Seven Knights to guide them in battle.
Our Thoughts
As soon as the opening started with its transforming heroes and lovingly depicted weapon cards, I realised this must be based on a mobile game. Indeed, this is based on a free-to-play gacha from Korean developer Netmarble. Even before I was able to confirm this, Hero Successor failed to draw me in, eschewing details on the nature of its world in lieu of a glamourised marketing push for its source material. What's here is incredibly slight, and likely to be of little interest to anyone who isn't deep into this game.
Who It's For
Seven Knights whales, I guess.

Those Snow White Notes

The Lowdown
Sawamura Setsu mourns the death of his grandfather Matsugorou, a talented shamisen player who refused to pass his secrets on. Not knowing what else to do, he leaves his remote village for Tokyo, taking nothing but his shamisen along with him. Soon he finds himself wrapped up in the complicated life of aspiring actress Yuna and her scuzzy rockstar boyfriend Taketo. When Setsu opens for Taketo's band, he stuns the audience with the raw emotion of his playing. However, his heart is still tumultuous.
Our Thoughts
An entertaining first episode of a speciality music series, which is the kind of thing I have a place in my heart for. I couldn't shake the feeling of some latent misogyny that suggested the role of a woman is to inspire a tortured artist, but I might be wrong. The final few minutes take a twist by introducing Setsu's weird, horny mother who seems to have her own personal SWAT team, and it looks like the series becomes a more conventional high school anime from episode 2 onwards. Don't know about that!
Who It's For
Fans of Kids on the Slope, Sound of the Sky.

Tokyo Revengers
Show Link
The Lowdown
Former delinquent Takemichi is unsatisfied with the way his life turned out, living alone in a paper-thin apartment and working a minimum wage job under a boss who doesn't respect him. When watching the news one evening, he learns that his highschool sweetheart Hinata was killed, alongside her little brother. On the way to work the next morning, Takemichi falls in front of an oncoming train and wakes up 12 years in the past. Armed with foreknowledge, he attempts to turn his life around and save his onetime lover.
Our Thoughts
This is drawing from a lot of sources; the whole train sequence is lifted straight from Gantz, while the story itself initially seems like a Life on Mars kind of deal. In fact, Tokyo Revengers sees Takemichi jump back and forth between the present and the past, seemingly making small changes until he achieves his desired outcome. It feels like a very video gamey depiction of time travel, and one that's not super interesting.
Who It's For
Steins;Gate fans, maybe? Delinquent manga (Shonan Junai Gumi, Crows, etc.) fans, maybe? It's pretty self-serious compared to any of those.

An immortal being in the form of an orb falls to earth and becomes a stone. Years pass, an ice age sets in, and a white wolf stumbles onto the tundra and dies. The orb, able to take the form of anything that leaves a strong impression on it, transforms into the wolf and slowly learns how to use its newfound ambulatory body. The creature treks back through the tundra where it meets a boy living alone, after the rest of his village left in search of a better life. The boy recognises the wolf as his beloved pet, Johann, and the two begin living together in the harsh, lonely wastes.
Our Thoughts
I'm being a little coy with the synopsis here, and there's a major shake-up at the end of this debut episode. This one's based on a manga by the critically acclaimed Yoshitoki Ooima (A Silent Voice), and it's a depressing, compelling, and exciting start to a series. Lots of potential here!
Who It's For
Fans of NieR, Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon, Last Exile, Kino's Journey.

So, there you have it. I'm hoping this will be of use to anyone who experiences a similar sense of dread when faced with so many choices. Maybe we’ll do this again during the Summer 2021 anime season.

Untitled Sam Wilson X Reader
So, this is my first attempt at writing and writing a fanfiction. Ony one other person has seen it and it is because of her that I have decided to post it. @writingtoforgetreality was super supportive when I sent it to her a few weeks ago and it took a lot of courage to post it. Hope you enjoy.
 _______
Sam made his way up the drive with Bucky, discussing the situation with Karli after working on the boat. He hadn’t seen the cop car pull up earlier so seeing it parked behind Sarah’s truck made him furrow his brow.
“What’s up,” Bucky asked, not noticing the car right away. When he did, his expression mimicked Sam’s. The two exchanged a look before running inside to see what had happened.
“Sarah,” Sam called as he walked through the door, “Why is there a cop car in the driveway?” He entered the kitchen to see Sarah was leaning against the counter, arms crossed while she talked with the cop. There was concern written on her features and he immediately started looking around for the boys.
“Ms. Wilson, this is where she asked to,” the cop explained. “She said this is the safest place she could think of.” The tall man let out a sigh as he rubbed the back of his neck, trying to hide whatever was going on in his head about the situation.
“I understand,” Sarah replied. She looked over to Sam when he walked in, frowning. “It isn’t the boys.”
“Then what is it,” Sam asked as he looked to the cop.
“I’ll,” the man cleared his throat, “I’ll bring her in and leave you to it.”
“Her?”
“Y/N was attacked,” Sarah stated as calmly as possible, “They said she is in pretty rough shape, but she doesn’t need to stay at the hospital.”
Sam’s brow creased at the information, trying to process exactly what was just said to him. Y/N had been a family friend since childhood. She helped Sarah out a lot after her husband died and even during the blip. To think that something bad happened to her, it tugged at his heart. “Attacked how?”
Sarah could see the gears turning in Sam’s head, and briefly glanced at Bucky to see if he was doing the same. The concern was written on Bucky’s face as the officer helped the petite woman into the kitchen. “Thank you,” she nodded to the man, receiving a nod in return before he said something about being in contact then leaving. When she looked at Y/N, she wanted to cry, seeing the state that she was in.
“Attacked how Sarah,” Sam asked again, a bit more forceful, not realizing that Y/N was standing nearby.
“Sam,” she began, trying to calm him.
“No Sarah,” he snapped, “I want to know what happened.”
“I wasn’t raped if that is what you are thinking,” the smaller woman behind him sighed. She saw how rigid both men got when she spoke and how uncomfortable Sarah became. “After closing the bar. They were there when I took out the trash. Kitchen staff found me by the dumpster two hours after the attack.” She was trying to stay calm as she spoke, her gaze practically boring a hole into the floorboards. “I’ve spent the past six hours at the hospital and I just,” her voice cracked, “I wanted to be brought somewhere safe.”
“So you came here,” Sam asked, not turning around. He didn’t want to see the damage that had been done. It was bad enough he could hear the pain in her voice having to explain what happened. There was no way he would be able to bear seeing that same pain in her emerald eyes.
“I can be gone tomorrow if,” she trailed off
“Sam,” Sarah sighed, seeing how Sam’s fist was clenched tightly, “It’s okay Y/N, stay as long as you need.” She walked by him to Y/N and gave a soft smile. “I’ll grab you a change of clothes if you want to go shower.” The two headed upstairs where Y/N locked herself in the bathroom while Sarah went searching for some clothes for her to wear.
Bucky and Sam stayed in the kitchen, long after Sarah had left with Y/N. It was uncomfortably quiet and after about five minutes, Bucky had had enough. “Getting angry isn’t going to change what happened,” he pointed out.
“I should have been there,” Sam replied.
“You couldn’t have known.”
“But I could have stopped it.”
“Who is she?”
“Childhood friend. Been a big help around here with everything that’s happened. She helped Sarah raise the boys after the blip.”
“She’s cute,” Bucky chuckled, trying to lighten the mood.
“Don’t go there Buck,” Sam warned.
“What? I’m just saying,” he defended.
Sarah returned to the kitchen with a frown on her face. “Sam,” she sighed, “I had to give her one of your sweatshirts. She didn’t want anything that would show her arms and I didn’t have anything.”
“Its fine,” Sam replied, hands on the counter now.
“She feels safe here because of you,” she returned to the stove, to the forgotten food. When Sam left the room, there was a silence before she spoke. “They won’t admit it, but they love each other.”
“Is that why he blames himself,” Bucky asked.
“Probably. Growing up, her home life wasn’t good, but she never let that get to her. At least, that’s what we thought. She was over one night in high school and I could hear her crying in the bathroom. Turns out her daddy had started beating on her, but never anywhere anyone would see. I didn’t tell anyone; it would have made the situation worse. Sam found out though and he was furious. He didn’t tell her he knew, but he started showing her how to defend herself.”
Bucky had taken a seat on one of the stools by the counter as he listened. He could picture how Sam handled finding out what happened. “What happened to her dad?”
“Committed suicide after her mom died and she moved out. That was around the time Sam enlisted. He was the one who convinced her to move, he didn’t want her in that situation if he wasn’t there to help her.” She continued telling the story while Bucky helped set the table. “She’s had to live her life without him before, but he hasn’t had to live without her.”
“He did though,” Bucky pointed out, reminding her of when Sam was on the run after helping Steve help him escape.
“But he was out there alive somewhere. I’m talking about the blip.” The two finished setting up for dinner and bringing the dishes to the table. “Dinner,” she called. It wasn’t long before the boys were in their seats. When Sam and Y/N didn’t immediately show up, she frowned.
“Give it a minute,” Bucky said. He could hear the other two talking upstairs, in hushed tones. There wasn’t anger in Sam’s voice anymore, it was more concern this time.
“What?”
He didn’t respond as the two finally entered the room. Y/N was holding onto Sam’s torso as if it were a lifeline and Sam was supporting her. When the two sat down, he quirked a brow. “So, Y/N, right? I’m Bucky,” he gave a flirty smile.
“Nice to meet you,” Y/N replied.
“I heard you and Sam are good friends.” The way he emphasized the words good friends cause Y/N to frown.
“Yeah.”
Dinner was uneventful and quiet, instead of its usual joyful tone. No doubt due to the situation they had found themselves in. Afterwards they opted for a movie, something to try and lift the mood. Y/N, Sam, and Sarah sat on the couch, while Bucky and the boys sat on the floor. The couch had space for at least five people, but they didn’t want to crowd Y/N. About halfway through, Y/N had shifted and had her legs draped over Sam’s. No one said anything.
“How about another movie,” Cass suggested.
“You and your brother need to get to bed,” Sarah replied. They didn’t argue and headed to their rooms.
“Another movie sounds like a good idea,” Bucky pointed out.
This time everyone was on the couch, though Y/N and Sam remained in the same position. It didn’t take long before one of them shifted, causing Bucky to glance their way. Y/N was now curled on Sam’s lap, his arms around her, one of her hands over his.
“Are we going to address the elephant in the room or,” Bucky began, only to be jabbed in the ribs by Sarah. “What?”
“Help me do the dishes,” Sarah said calmly as she stood up, practically dragging the super soldier with her.
When Sarah and Bucky left the room, it was silent, save for the movie playing. Neither Y/N nor Sam said anything, but they wanted to. It wasn’t until the sound of running water, that one spoke. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Well, no but,” Y/N looked at him, “you’re here so I feel safe.” She felt his arms tighten around her slightly, causing her to rest her head on his shoulder again. “It isn’t your fault you know. I’m still here because of what you taught me. They didn’t expect me to fight back, and I think I did enough damage that they couldn’t do what they had planned.”
Sam tensed at those words. Just knowing that there was a possibility that they were going to do worse to her, it made him mad. He gently kissed her temple, lips grazing the stitches. “That’s my girl,” he muttered into her hair. He’d be lying if he said he didn’t want to say it louder.
“Hey Sam.”
“Hmm,” he kept looking at the television, though not really paying attention to the movie.
“Can I sleep with you tonight?” It wasn’t the first time the two had shared a bed, but it had been well over fifteen years since then. “I mean, Bucky should probably get the couch and it doesn’t feel right sleeping in Sarah’s bed.”
“Yeah.”
“Thanks.”
It was about two a.m. when Y/N woke up to the urge to use the bathroom. Next to her, Sam was sound asleep, at least, that’s what she thought. She was quiet as she got up, and even when she returned a few minutes later.
“You okay?”
The sound of his voice made her jump as she pulled the covers over her body. “Y-yeah, just had to use the bathroom.”
Just as she was shifting closer to him for warmth, he turned around. “Did I scare you?”
“I thought you were asleep.”
“Sorry.” He carefully pulled her to him, only to hear her let out a pained hiss. “Did I hurt you?”
“Just a little pressure on a bruise. I’m okay.” She could make out his features, barely, with the moonlight that streamed in. Giving a small smile she closed her eyes, ready to fall back asleep. It wasn’t long before she felt his fingers brushing over her hair, and his thumb rubbing over her cheek.
“I love you,” he whispered before kissing her forehead.
“I love you too,” she whispered back.

On Pointe
You walk into the entryway of the studio, a small smile on your face. You can’t believe it’s finally happening. After years of hard work, dedication and sacrifice you’re here, Galaxy Dance Company.
Excited butterflies flit through your stomach as you swipe your badge and the door unlocks. Studio 6 is the one you’re looking for, Studio 6. You pass Studios 1, 2 and 3 before you come to a T in the hallway, glancing to either side doesn’t really give you any hints. Both sides look almost identical. Thick, light colored oak doors, mostly closed, with a small window in each. It almost reminds you of your old high school.
You take a chance and start for the left hallway when a door pops open and a small pretty brunette woman and a tall blonde man come out of the room. He’s dressed in blue sweatpants and a grey tee with the sleeves cut off, she’s in a light pink practice leo and skirt with black leggings and bright green fuzzy socks. A pair of pointe shoes are dangling from her hand, and he’s grinning down at her with his black shoes in his hand. It suddenly clicks who the two are.
Rogers and Carter. One of the most famous ballet duos in the world. You’re attempting to muster up the courage to ask for help when they realize you’re there.
“Oh, hello,” Peggy says, “you must be the new girl. I’m sorry I’ve forgotten your name, I’m Peggy, this is Steve.” Steve gives you a little wave and you smile at them.
“Hi, it’s a pleasure to meet you both.” Not realizing that you haven’t introduced yourself.
“What was your name again?” Steve asks kindly and you feel your face heat up.
“Right, sorry.” You try to play it off with an awkward laugh, then tell them your name. “Most people just call me Chou.”
“Well, it’s great to meet you,” Peggy says plucking a hoodie off of the wall, “if you need any help let us know.”
“Actually, I’m looking for Studio 6. Can you point me in the right direction?” The pair share a quick look that you can’t quite read before Steve says,
“Two doors down. Make sure you don’t wear your street shoes into the studio.” You give him a nod and smile.
“Thanks.”
“Where are you staying?” Peggy asks before you can turn away.
“The studio is putting me in one of the apartments in the building but it’s not ready yet so I’m staying in a little Airbnb. Why?”
“Most of us live in the building,” Steve explains, “so we don’t have to worry about street shoes.” He gestures down to his and Peggy’s feet. You’d noticed Peggy’s fluffy green socks but had missed Steve’s slippers.
“That’ll be nice.” You tell them with a smile as you start to back away, you want to get into Studio 6 so that you can do a bit of stretching before you have to get started. “Thanks for the help.”
“We’ll see you around.” Peggy says with a smile before you turn and make your way to the door Steve had indicated. You tug off your shoes leaving you in your socks then off comes your sweatshirt and pants leaving you in your favorite black leo and leggings. You pull your wrap around skirt out of your bag and tie it around your waist before grabbing your pointe shoes and hurrying out of the cold hallway.
The studio isn’t much warmer, you’ll be thankful for that later, you pad your way to the mirror to pull your hair into a neat bun. Then you start going through your stretching routine, upper body is always first then core then legs. You end on the the floor stretching slowly, taking deep even breaths to get focused. The door opens behind you and you sit up from where your face had been pressed to your legs to find a dark haired man scowling at you from the doorway.
“What are you doing in here?” He asks and for a moment you don’t know what to say. Your email had said Studio 6 at 10 am.
“My email said to be here at ten. This is Studio 6 right?”
“Yes. You’re not my partner Dot.”
“I don’t know what to tell you, I can show you the email if you’d like but I’m just following directions.” You say tugging off your socks and pulling on your pointe shoes. You tie the ribbons then stand and sway your hips to stay loose.
“I’m not dancing with some newbie.” He scoffs and you’re about to correct him when he’s smacked on the back of the head as Natasha comes into the room.
“Don’t be an ass James.” She says as she walks past him and gives you a wide smile. “Hey, super excited you’re here.”
“Hi Natasha, it’s nice to see you again.”
“Where is Dot?”
“She was let go. Breech of contract. Besides we’re lucky to have Chou join the company.”
“Wait, Chou? As in Petite Chou?”
“I’m not so Petite anymore but yes.” You tell him, resting a hand on each hip. “Which clearly tells you I’m no newbie I’ve been dancing professionally since I was 14.”
“What are you doing here? I thought you danced for Shield.”
“I did. My contract just ended and Fury wanted to cut my salary so I decided to go elsewhere. As Prima ballerina of a successful and well known company I should be able to survive on a ballet salary.” He doesn’t say anything so you elect to ignore him and turn to Natasha. “Carol told me that we were doing Sleeping Beauty, is that still the plan?”
“It is, you’ve done that one before right?”
“I have, I enjoyed it.”
“Good, you’re dancing Aurora and Bucky’s going to be Prince Charming, aka Phillip.”
“That’ll be a stretch.” You grumble and she snorts.
“I’m excited to dance with you again.”
“Again?” James, or Bucky or whatever, asks and Natasha responds for you.
“We went to school together, Chou danced in my senior show.” She says throwing an arm over your shoulders with a wide grin. “You’re going to love Thor, he’s a phenomenal choreographer.”

Words: 1622
The bar where Tony worked wasn’t exactly high end, but it wasn’t awful. He kinda liked his job, even if his boss was an asshole. His coworkers were great and he got free food on his break, so it wasn’t all bad. Tony was a server, Clint worked at the bar making drinks, and Bucky worked in the kitchen. It was a small place so it was usually just the three of them.
Realistically, there should have been more employees. Obie was just cheap and refused to hire any more people than was strictly necessary to keep the place running, even if it would run much smoother with a bigger staff. They did have three part timers, twins that attended the local college and Thor, an older Norwegian guy who was always in good spirits, that filled in the gaps in the schedule. Tony was wiping up a table when Brock walked in and Clint whistled, calling Tony’s attention to him before pointing to the door.
“You’ve got a visitor, pretty boy.”
Tony glanced over at Brock and broke out into a grin. Brock smirked when the petite Omega ran up and wrapped his arms around his neck.
“You didn’t tell me you were coming,” Tony accused, but he giggled when Brock scooped him off his feet and set him up on the bar.
Clint rolled his eyes at them.
“Get your ass off my bar,” Clint snapped. “Only paying customers are allowed to get all handsy on the bar.”
Brock rolled his eyes and pulled out a twenty dollar bill and slammed it down on the bar.
“Why don’t you grab me a beer while you’re at it, baby?” Brock smirked at Clint who just smirked back, not nearly as annoyed as he pretended he was.
Brock asked Tony how his shift’s been going and Tony proceeded to tell him about the asshole customer that kept trying to feel him up and how Clint had just about jumped the counter to chase him out of here. Bucky had beat him to it, leaving the kitchen to yell at them for being creeps and throw them out. Even with only one arm their cook could be downright terrifying when he wanted to be.
Tony cut off his recounting of how Bucky defended his honor and then Tony got all upset, because he could totally handle himself and he did not need an Alpha to swoop in and save him, when Clint set down Brock’s beer and pulled him in for a kiss. Brock didn’t stop him immediately, but he pulled back with a groan after a few moments.
“Sorry, angel, but I’m taken,” Brock said regretfully, pulling down his collar to show off a mark that definitely had not existed when he went out last night.
Tony’s eyes widened comically and Brock was too busy snickering at his expression to notice the flash of pain that flickered in Clint’s eyes. Clint swallowed and busied himself behind the bar, so he wouldn’t have to think about what that meant for him and Brock, or about the mark on his own neck that still haunted him when he saw it in the mirror.
“What?” Tony squawked. “I thought we were going to be bachelors forever.”
“Yeah, well, I guess forever has come to an end.”
“We made a pact!” Tony whined.
Brock rolled his eyes.
“We were eighteen, barely more than pups when we made that pact. Besides, you’d feel differently about it, too, if you met your soulmate. I saw him and I knew just like that that we were made for each other. So I dragged him into the bathroom and sucked him off and then I let him take me home. It sounds totally skanky, but I swear it was more romantic than it sounds.”
“Oh I’m sure,” Tony scoffed.
“You’re gonna love him, Tony.”
Tony huffed.
He definitely would not love whatever asshole Alpha had brainwashed his best friend, turning him into a knot loving, Alpha pleasing houseOmega.
“Whatever, just tell me how long I have to find a new roommate,” Tony grumbled, feeling bitter about the whole thing.
He knew that Brock being mated now would mean he would move in with his Alpha. That’s just how it worked. Brock gave him a guilty look.
“He’s coming over to help me move my stuff in the morning,” Brock admitted. “Don’t worry though. I’ll pay rent as many months as it takes until you find someone new. It’s just, well, you know how it is with soulmates. I don’t think I’d be able to sleep without him.”
“No, I don’t know, actually,” Tony snapped.
Of course he did know, and of course he didn’t really blame Brock for finding his soulmate. Tony couldn’t help but feel slighted though. This was a lot to take in and Tony was kinda offended that Brock would just show up and drop something like this on him. He knew that when it came to soulmates everything was sudden, but that didn’t make it easier on Tony.
“Tony, please, don’t be like that. I know you didn’t want this. I didn’t either. You know how much I hated Alphas, but then I met Sam and I don’t know… he’s amazing.”
“Yeah, yeah. I know how it goes. You saw him and felt compelled to drop to your knees and present for him and the moment he knotted and claimed you, you felt whole, like the piece inside of you that was missing suddenly was filled by your Alpha’s presence and bite and his knot and let’s not forget his life giving cum,” Tony said sarcastically. “Yeah, I’ve heard the stories.”
“It’s not like that Tony.”
“So he didn’t knot you and now you’re obsessed with him?”
Brock groaned.
“No, he did, but it’s not as bad as you make it sound. I’m  happy about this. Can’t you just be happy for me?” Brock pleaded.
Tony glared at the ground stubbornly.
“I have a table to wipe down.”
Brock looked hurt when Tony walked away and Clint gave him a sympathetic look.
“Don’t worry. He’ll come around. Just give him some time.”
Tony was upset when he got home and the light in their apartment was off. Sure, it was so late that it was practically morning, but he knew that wasn’t why the lights were off. This time he knew it was because his roommate, his  best friend , who had returned home from the war and came to live with him, wasn’t here.
Tony felt like crying.
He dropped his bag, kicked off his shoes and let his coat fall to the ground. He didn’t care enough to pick them up and put them away. He didn’t care about anything. He just felt numb. Well, he felt hurt and betrayed and jealous, even though he’d never admit it out loud, but he also sort of felt numb, like he was feeling so many emotions that he just couldn’t process any of them.
He headed straight for the bottle of whiskey on the kitchen counter, not even bothering to grab a glass, choosing to just drink straight out of the bottle instead. He plopped down on the couch and proceeded to drink his pain away, but ironically found himself just wallowing in his misery.
Tony always said that he hated Alphas and never wanted one, but the truth was that he hated how much he wanted one. Tony didn’t want to be controlled and have his independence stolen from him. He was terrified that he’d find his soulmate and they’d turn out to be some sort of asshole Alpha that wanted him to drop his whole life and be some damn houseOmega.
So yeah, Tony was glad that he didn’t have an Alpha, but secretly he hoped he had a soulmate out there. He hoped that his mate hadn’t died before they met and that they wanted him just as much as Tony wanted them. He hoped that they would have a fairytale ending, like in the stories that he heard as a kid about the kind and gentle Alphas that saved the day and rescued their Omegas. He hoped they’d meet and fall in love at first sight the way soulmates were supposed to and rush off to mate, because they just couldn’t go another second without each other.
Tony wanted all of those things, but he also cringed just thinking about it. He was not a damsel in distress. He did not need some Alpha to come and save him. Tony was just fine on his own. He’d survived this long without an Alpha, though he had to admit he would miss snuggling up to Brock, and Clint on the few occasions that Brock dragged him home and fell into bed with him.
Tony hadn’t fucked either of them, but he had no qualms snuggling up to them while they were sweaty and cum was still leaking out of Clint. He also had no qualms with sleeping on the other side of the bed while they fucked, just so he wouldn’t have to be alone at night. As much as Tony wanted to be fine on his own, he really hated being alone.
He didn’t  need  an Alpha, but he kinda wanted one. Wanted someone to hold onto, someone to cuddle with and be close to when the night fell and the darkness of his mind crept in like the shadows that surrounded them. Tony wished there was somebody there to pull him out of his mind as he spiraled, laying on the couch, an empty bottle on the ground. He was numb and yet he hurt so much. How was that even possible?

Do you think you could do headcanons for if Richie got a woman pregnant on a one-night-stand, and the woman just ended up dropping the baby on his doorstep, and how the losers, including Richie, would react?
- let’s say this happens a few months after Derry 2.0
- because before that Richie was still very deep in the closet and he trying to prove to everyone around him that he’s very heterosexual.
- The woman he has a one night stand with is friends with Steve, mostly because he is secretly hoping she tell Steve about their night
- (Richie thinks Steve is suspecting that he’s gay and want to nip it in the bud)
- They go back to Richie’s place on evening after getting McDonald’s and it’s fine, obviously Richie doesn’t feel anything for her but she’s nice enough that he likes talking to her
- One thing leads to another and they spend the night together
- The next day things aren’t hostile between them but it is akward because Richie is nervously fluttering hoping she’ll go home soon
- She does and they don’t keep in touch, which is fine for Richie. He doesn’t want to feel the guilt every time he looks at her knowing that he used her for his own gain.
- Richie mostly forgets about that night and her, and after Derry he’s too busy to pay that night any thought
- His head over heels for Eddie now, and he’s gearing up to tell him soon.
- He’s waiting for Eddie’s divorce to come through. He doesn’t want to add pressure on Eddie during such a demanding time but, he’s excited for what will happen after.
- So they’re not yet dating, but they’re getting there. It’s just a matter of time.
- And then Steve shows up with his baby one morning.
- He’s pale white, and the hand of which he’s hold the maxicosi is trembling
- Of course, Richie being the trash mouth that he is, starts making fun of him.
- He doesn’t understand why Steve would have a baby with him (as far as he’s heard Steve didn’t want kids) but the comedy gold is right there for grabbing.
- ‘What’s the baby for Steve? Did you father a baby I didn’t know anything about?’
- Uno reverse card
- When Steve bashfully admits that it’s not his kid, but Richie’s, the latter laughs.
- At first he’s convinced it’s just Steve messing with him, but Steve would never go as far as to kidnap a baby.
- He still continues to chuckle even after apprehension starts to take hold him off
- ‘It’s not a joke Richie, this is your daughter.’
- Instead of becoming serious as the situation calls for it, Richie begins to cackle.
- Not laugh, not chuckle or snort, cackle.
- He’s so confused, and flabbergasted and he can’t believe this tiny human thing crying in her crib is his.
- ‘I’m just the messenger man,’ Steve placates, slowly sinking the carrier to the ground.
- When Richie is finally done laughing ( it goes on for a very long time) Steve is itching to get out of there.
- He leaves with very little more explanation other than; ‘it was your one night stand from a few months ago, she doesn’t have a name yet, and her mother is refusing to take care of her.
- Richie finds himself just staring at this tiny little thing that’s beginning to cry and whimper as she kicks her tiny feet in the air.
- She starts to cry earnestly after about five minutes, not to fond of not being payed attention too for so long
- Richie tries to shush her gently, but it’s a baby and they don’t listen to what anyone tells them too.
- The cries grow in intensity, and Richie’s slowly losing his mind.
- He’s pacing his apartment, in a daze. He’s working on automatic pilot, because he can’t comprehend the fact that he just became a father, he’s clueless about what to do
- His own daughters birthday remains a mystery to him for god sake.
- If Richie were thinking logically, he’d call Steve and ask him to come back and explain everything in a better way, but he’s not, and he can only think with his emotions.
- He ends up calling Ben and Bev.
- His first instinct was to call Eddie, seeing as Eddie is his best friend and all, but Eddie would panicked just as much as him and that would be of no help.
- Reaching out to Stan also pops up in his mind, but he can’t deal with cynical saying right now. He needs people who will be sympathetic towards him and hopefully tell him what to do.
- On the phone he barely explains anything to bev and Ben, but he does tell them to hurry up.
- When they get to the apartment, Ben and Bev are shocked at seeing the little baby, and get concerned after Richie fails to give them an answer about how or why she’s in his house.
- Regardless, they step up up to the task and do their best to take care of the girl they know nothing about.
- Ben drives to the store to get formula and blankets and diapers, while Bev fishes her out of her crib and begins to slowly rock her. They’re both calm and collected.
- Richie on the other hand is snapping out of his haze, and the reality of the situation begins to dawn on him.
- Bev tries to console him but it’s hard when she has zero background information.
- Ben comes back and heats up her formula, but she refuses to drink and lets out a piercing cry in refusal.
- Even Bev’s rocking isn’t doing anything the south the baby, and out of desperation, Richie begins to cry.
- Because Bev is out of option herself, and doesn’t have a clue on how to help Richie, she passes him the baby.
- Richie is terrified of holding this petit thing that fits just exactly right in his arms. He’s scared of crushing her or dropping her and messing her up for life.
- But miraculously, as soon as she’s snuggled in his arms, she stops crying.
- She’s just content to lay there with her dad, who eventually tries to bottle feed her and it works. She eagerly drinks from it.
- First crisis evaded
- But, after everyone has processed the first major shock, Richie needs to give Ben and Bev the answers they deserve now.
- Richie tries to be as straight forward as he can, but he hasn’t had the details yet himself.
- The two losers insists that he tells the others of their group right away. It’s too big of a secret to hide, and they need all the help they can get.
- Again, none of the losers are informed as to why they have to go to Richie’s house ASAP, but they still do, because he’s there best friend and they wouldn’t be called if it wasn’t important.
- It’s Stan and Patty that arrive after Bev and Ben.
- Stan and Patty are less astounded for some reason.
- Patty doesn’t even inquire, she just goes straight into cooing over the baby fase.
- She’ll sit next to Richie (still holding his daughter) and begins talking gibberish to the baby about how beautiful she is.
- Richie agrees.
- Stan follows her lead, but he simply observes the two of them together and then sits near touching to Richie.
- ‘I should have know you’d be the first one with a kid Trashmouth.’
- But he doesn’t lecture Richie, or starts to interrogate him about anything.
- He must have sensed that Richie wasn’t up to it at the moment.
- Bill and Mike are next.
- Within stepping one food inside the place, and spotting Richie with a baby, Bill laughs, and asks him who he knocked up.
- He intends it as a joke, obviously, but when no one else laughs, he realises how right he is.
- ‘Richie... have you been keeping your baby from us for three months?’ Mike asks, a little offended.
- ‘What do you mean three months?’
- ‘She’s clearly three months old. You can tell by her development.’ When everyone just stares at him, Mike explains further. ‘I had a lot of time on my my hands after you all left Derry. Maybe I spend that time reading children books.’
- He doesn’t more time to elaborate, because that’s the moment Eddie arrives.
- It’s his reaction Richie is most frightened off.
- He’s in love with Eddie, loves him with all his heart, but he can’t ask Eddie to date a man that just became a father. That would mean not only choosing him, but also his child.
- Eddie looks at the baby, at Richie and then back, and follows it up by cursing;’what the fuck’. loudly.
- The harsh sound startles the baby, but with a gentle kiss on the forehead that Richie gives her, she’s pacified back into sleep.
- ‘Oh shit, oh no. I need an explanation, right now.’
- Richie explains the story yet again, and hopes that none of his friends will label him as an asshole at the end of it.
- Of course they don’t, but Eddie is headed up over the whole situation.
- ‘I know a lot of lawyers after my divorce with Myra, I could hook you up someone.’
- ‘She can’t just dump her baby on you without any of the proper paperwork. What if she has a deadly disease and needs to get continuos treatment?’
- Eddie’s ‘advice’ turns Richie’s complexion green, and his stomach in knots. He’s never had to thought of that stuff before, and now he has a whole human being that depends on him for everything.
- Stan snaps at Eddie to stop him from adding more stress onto Richie, which Eddie does with a guilty apologie.
- ‘Look Richie,’ Stan says to him with full seriousness. ‘You need to decide what you’re going to do,and unfortunately you do not have a lot of time. You cannot put this off, she needs a name, and a crib and everything she needs to survive. You need to make a decision if you’re keeping her.’
- Richie gazes down upon his baby. The same baby he hasn’t let go off from the second he held her. He’s so scared, beyond explanation or able to put it in words, but this is his daughter. He could give her up for adoption, and he live would remain the same, but he knows she excites now, and to give her away to strangers? He don’t think he could have the heart.
- But...
- ‘I can’t do it by myself’, he admits, voice small and honest.
- ‘You’d never have to.’ Eddie responds, one of his fingers stroking over the ring babies head. He looks absolutely smitten.
- His life was uprooted once again, but last time the change wasn’t bad at all. Richie is confident, this won’t be bad either.
- Barely a month later Eddie moves in with them full time, and becomes pops to Maggie lover Tozier.
