This portrait of Winry has a special place in my heart. It felt a lot like painting home, a place I'm currently far away from. Winry's mom asked me to include azaleas and pink magnolias, both beautiful Louisiana flowers I grew up seeing blossom every year.
I loved painting Winry and her beautiful eyes and ears while thinking about my own little childhood beagle named Hastings. I try to make pet portraits as personal to the owners as possible but this one ended up being personal for me as well. Painting it was a sweet meditation on nostalgia.

A pet portrait of two sweet cats Lily and Denver. I love that I got to add a little moon phase in the tope panel, as well as the tiny jasmine blooms and vines.

A portrait of the gorgeous Python, Diana, named for the goddess of the hunt.
I painted her entwined in a moon and an antler, 2 of Diana's symbols.

When I was little, I could always see the rabbit on the moon, but never the man. To this day, I still have a hard time seeing him which doesn't bother me. Instead, I think the moon has many secrets far more interesting than a man if you'll only stop to see them.
Happy Moonday! This is just the first in my moon cat series, I can't wait to share the rest with you!

Red poppies and a sun for a sweet girl who loves sun bathing. ❤️ I love how this portrait turned out.

I got to paint a yorkie mother and son duo named Luna and Felipe. (Luna is on the left and Felipe is on the right). As soon as I found the mother's be was Luna I had to paint her with a moon. I painted Felipe on a sun to match!

My first painting using a jelly cup gouache set!
I was given this sunflower by a sweet lady last week. It was a particularly difficult week and oddly enough I ended up painting it on a grey and rainy day. It ended up giving me a spot of brightness that I really needed.

Still working on Iroh the leopard gecko’s portrait. Most of the time I can picture a composition in my head before I begin working on paper, other times not so much.
For Iroh, I ended up drawing several different backgrounds. Then I drew him on a separate piece of paper in different sizes, cut him out and played around with various compositions until I found one I liked.
“You are going through a metamorphosis, my nephew. It will not be a pleasant experience but when you come out of it. You will be the beautiful prince you were always meant to be.” -Uncle Iroh
Trust the process, folks, it’s what Iroh would want for you!
