Petro Kholodny, 1876-1930

La famosa obra La historia de una niña y un pavo real de Petro Kholodny combina orgánicamente el simbolismo misterioso del tema (siendo el pavo real la personificación del sueño eterno de la belleza) con la poesía del folclore ucraniano y las tradiciones de la pintura nacional. La planitud decorativa de la pintura, el dibujo de líneas finas y nítidas, y el uso de temple y tabla recuerdan a las antiguas pinturas de iconos.

El estilo de Kholodny generalmente se describe como un impresionismo maduro de una variedad ucraniana que es profundamente lírico; estaba libre de esquematismo o arcaísmo. El artista también trabajó con el arte gráfico y desarrolló su propio estilo de dibujo. Atraído por los antiguos iconos gallegos en 1914, quedó fascinado por la técnica del temple y la utilizó con frecuencia.

Next to Logic came Dialectics, which has completely disappeared from the scientific curriculum of today. Medieval education was based on Dialectics, which everyone who hoped to achieve anything in intellectual life had to learn and master. Dialectics is the art of defending a truth against an attack, according to the correct rules. In order to do this, the laws of reason had to be known.
