i found this little jumper wild in my house awhile ago and have been trying desperately to keep it alive ever since because it was too cold to let it go. the great news is that it is now thriving in captivity and has even molted for me! i am taking name suggestions btw.

November 22 Bug Fam Jam
🕷️- Morticia built her 5th hammock in her enclosure 🤣 I’m not judging. Girlfriend is good at making hammocks and can make them fast! I am impressed that this new one is so out in the open and I hope this means she’s getting even more comfortable with us 🥰
🪲 Our beetle crew has been hiding in their cave ever since I put it back in there 🤦🏻 I have a new hide coming for them today - one that’s a little more open - and some other goodies to change up their scenery a bit
🐶 Ms Freckles Not-A-Bug has been taking much shorter walks because it’s cold 🥶 Say what you will about dogs in clothes, my girl is a shorthair and hates cold weather 🤣 I sent her out in her unicorn costume. We’ve done coats in the past and she seems to prefer the costumes that don’t wrap all the way around her as much
Pictured is a miniature house environment showing a bit of the clear acrylic walls on the side. There are some potted plants, a couch made of resin, a resin cat, and a tiny clock. A hollowed out walnut shell lined with moss hangs from the ceiling. In the upper left corner there is a small black spider with white markings in a webby hammock

Made a new friend at the coffeeshop today with one of the coolest arachnids out there - the bold jumping spider!
Now, I know what you're thinking. "Jumping spider? Bold? What's so special about that?" But let me tell you, these little guys are more than just your average spider.
First off, let's talk about their appearance. Bold jumping spiders, scientifically known as Phidippus audax, are named after their striking black and white markings. These spiders are relatively small, with the females reaching up to 0.5 inches in length and the males slightly smaller. But what they lack in size, they make up for in personality.
That's right - bold jumping spiders are some of the most charismatic spiders you'll ever come across. Unlike some other spider species that tend to hide away or scuttle off when they detect movement, bold jumpers are known for being curious and inquisitive. In fact, they'll often approach humans or other animals to investigate them.
And did I mention they can jump? I mean, really jump. These spiders have incredible eyesight, which they use to track their prey before launching themselves at them from a distance of up to 50 times their own body length! That's like a human jumping the length of a football field in one leap. Impressive, huh?
But don't worry, these spiders aren't interested in biting humans. In fact, they're considered harmless and are actually helpful in controlling pest populations in gardens and homes.
If you want to attract bold jumping spiders to your yard, try planting some flowers or plants that attract insects. They love to hang out near flowers, waiting for their next meal to come buzzing by. And if you're lucky enough to spot one, take a moment to watch them. Their movements are quick and precise, and their curious nature is sure to put a smile on your face.
So there you have it, folks. The bold jumping spider - a small but mighty arachnid with a personality to match its striking appearance. Keep an eye out for these little guys, and who knows? You might just fall in love with them like I have.
