Black & White Challenge: Day 5/7

I was tagged by my amazing family, the empress of abstracts and stabtracts @ramonasphotos, the snow wizard in the woods @tiernanogphoto. And the mastermind of black vinyl Mark Hajek on FB (hey Mark, I finally made it). Oh, and by mio caro @photorockit , who lives in the Cinema Paradiso. Danke! Rules are to post 7-black and white photographs in 7-days. Additionally, no explanations and no people are allowed. Plus, you should tag 1-person each day!

I tag a wonderful lady from Greece @vaggysworld as I would love to see more about all those little big things, that are touching her soul.

The Black & White tag thing: Ok, since early December I’ve been tagged for that b&w thing first by J & C @ chucksandheelsforus, then by Paul @paulmee, then by Shelia @bluelunaphotography - and, today, by dear Rocco @photorockit. Each time I feel honoured and humbled at the kind thought; and each time I try to be a sport and at least post one photo dedicated to the tumblr-friend in question (so this one goes out to Rocco - grazie tanto!)

But the truth is I simply cannot properly participate in the game: I simply do not have enough photos to post at such a pace. Each year I shoot a limited number of rolls of film - and that’s it... During the past few weeks I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel - and, in fact, after the last post I had decided to take a small break until I get a couple of new rolls developed...

Here’s also another thought: come on, girls and boys, you do know I almost exclusively shoot black & white film... so, in a way, that tag thing wouldn’t change anything, no? I mean... this challenge should be perhaps an opportunity for amateur photographers among us shooting mainly in colour to try something different for a change, no? Think of it like this: instead of tagging someone that springs to mind when you think of “black and white”, perhaps the persons to be tagged should be precisely those “least expected”, no? (Just a suggestion.)

Finally, on a different yet still personal note: In fact, during the past couple of weeks, I DID try something different (reinventing the wheel...): since each year I have only limited opportunities to go out with my heavy all-manual 1970s Nikon F2A carrying three lenses... for the first time in my life I thought... sod it, let’s go light... so I loaded an HP5 to a 1980s compact point-and-shoot auto-focus auto-advance auto-rewind auto-everything thing... and I started carrying it with me at all times... I’ll admit it’s fun and somewhat strange shooting without caring for anything... As for the results... I don’t know yet... We’ll see...

Surprise!! Once you get this you must share five random facts about yourself then pass this on to your 10 favorite followers :)

1. I’m a very strict vegetarian, really close to the vegan border. I love my animals very much alive and kickin’! :)

2. I once read somewhere that to be messy is a sign of geniality…so, yeah, apparently, i am one of the biggest geniuses that ever existed in the history of the planet.

3. I am a proud tomboy and i’ve always loved sports (the tougher, the better). Amongst many others, i have practiced Aikido, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and even Judo - i took a break from the latter, when my best (girl)friend accidentally broke my hand :)

4. When i was 3 years old, i appeared in a children clothes catalogue. All the other girls in the catalogue were taller, older, bigger, blonde, flowing long hair, blue eyes, really “catalogue-looking”…and in the middle of all that, there you see tiny, funny, shorter, brown-haired, short-haired and brown-eyed me :0) No idea what happened there during the casting auditions.

5. A few years ago, i helped with the translation and the phonetic accent of a very short sentence in italian, as a personal favour to a work colleague that was working with an advertising company - just to go to the movie theater a couple of weeks later with my (former) boyfriend and hear my voice (that i really don’t like, by the way) saying that very sentence in one of the commercials right before the movie…

…as for the 10 followers, i’m all for personal freedom and freedom of choice, so if you read it and want to do it….go ahead. My treat :)
