SPOILERS CH 6 FROM JJK S2
I just watched the episode and some thoughts I had.
_ The opening is incredible. I looked loop on twitter!!!! All the symbolism, the scenes, the hand signals (I feel like I'll never forget what Mahoraga's wheel looks like after this). I almost cried with Nanamin and Nobara. I don't want to lose them!!!! This season is going to be great!!!!! I'm not ready for her pain. (Could we have some extra scenes????)
Tumblr media
_ Yuji wanting his friends to see the movies he likes is so cute!!! I don't remember if it's the same movie he talked about with Junpei, but it reminded me of him and the scene that was supposed to be cute turned into tears in my eyes. (Nobara was right, that movie looks disgusting)
Tumblr media
_ Why did I have the impression that Osawa was blonde???? Whatever, she looks adorable and I feel a little bad for her. As someone who has been bullied because of her weight, I can sympathize with her situation. I would also want to date Yuji after what he said (Yuji looks equally as cute in the flashbacks, but it's weird to see him without the scars under his eyes)
Tumblr media
_ Nobara, my girl!!!!! I miss them so much!!!! Don't go to Shibuya my daughter! Stay at home or go find Saori!!!! DO NOT GO NEAR SHIBUYA!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
_ Megumi really looks like someone who is jealous, but won't show it. And who takes a book to a conversation with their friend?????? (Me and Megumi) Of course, I missed him a little looking at his beautiful nails, but it's cute how he was willing to carry Yuji's stuff as he said goodbye to Osawa.
Tumblr media
_ YUJI MY BEAUTIFUL BABY!!!!! HE IS TOO PRECIOUS FOR THIS WORLD!!!!!!! I don't want him to ever lose that beautiful, pure, fun smile, but that's asking too much.
_ I didn't lose that crumb from Itafushi, MAPPA!!!!! Yuji knowing Megumi's favorite popcorn flavor is so JAJSSJSDMJSJKS. I bet it's something he's noticed whenever they watch a movie at the theater. I'm actually surprised it's butterscotch. Megumi looked like the type of guy who eats salty popcorn.
Tumblr media
_ Argh, Utahime looks so sad as she thinks about kokichi. I want to hug her a little. The poor thing loves her students and (according to GG) they love her too…
Tumblr media
_ I feel a little sorry for Kokichi. He just wanted to be able to live normally, be with his friends, be with Miwa. These two are so distressing. Why can't any couple in JJK be happy????? I don't even want to think about how this could implicate Kirara and Hakari (GG I swear if you touch any of them I'll smack that giant eye of yours!!!!!)
Tumblr media
_ MechamaruxMahito's fight looks very good. I'm really excited for this!!!! I laughed when Kenny appeared on the screen with a smile and a wave. The man is really having fun with it all.
Tumblr media
_ WHAT A BEAUTIFUL ENDING!!!! I love Akari, but this song is really good too. Megumi taking pictures reminded me of the lyrics of Island in the Sun (his theme song according to GG). "We'll be playin' and havin' fun. And it makes me feel so fine, I can't control my brain" Man, he just wanted to be able to rest a little, have a normal life, take pictures of silly things. Oh, and he probably handed the camera to Nobara or she sneaked it, because there are pictures of him and Yuji distracted!!!!! Nobara definitely supports them (and used these photos as blackmail). Thanks for those crumbs, Mappa. This ending will heal my broken heart.
Tumblr media
It was such a good, fun, light episode. My last ray of sunshine before being swallowed by the storm. In the next chapter we'll start with the angst, and frankly, I'm not ready.

Today's translation #526
Yuri!!! on Life official guidebook, Toshiharu Mizutani (Art Director) interview
Part 3.
-- For sure, there is a lot of small things in the designs.
M: When I look at just the line arts, I always think that they are drawn in a very loose way, and a lot of those small things are skillfully drawn in a simplified way/omitted. It's something that only somebody with a lot of practice can do. Even newcomers can draw precisely, if they look at a drawing and try to copy it, but the most important thing is not to draw something that is not necessary. If you have to later erase something that you drew, then you give yourself twice the amount of work, but only people with a lot of skill can simply not draw too much to begin with.
-- Then it must have been a good opportunity to learn for the younger staff members, I'd guess?
M: They were all very desperate [to get the job done] and working while on the brink of death.
-- The ice in the skating scenes is very realistic, too. Was it a request from the Director?
M: Yeah. Since the first PV. Even I have watched some figure skating on DVD, so it was something that was on my mind, too. In case of ice shows, the lights are very elaborate, and your eyes are really drawn to the ice, cut with blades of skaters' shoes. Because of how it sparkles. I was wondering if it would be possible to try to achieve this effect, but I thought that if I touched this subject, we all were going to suffer, so I kept quiet. But then I decided that I want to have those cuts in the ice, after all. All were drawn on the same layer, but then split into multiple layers. We put at least three such layers on the surface of the ice.
[Notes: Long time no rant, so...
((Just in case, newer readers may not be aware, that I'm a "fujo-hater" 😂 But fret not, I'm not against seeing relationship between Yuuri and Victor as romantic or against people reading BL, but I'm very much against fujos, who as it was in the case of YoI, try to "teach"/press the creators/other staff members to make the canon bend to their doujinshi tropes.))
The talk about staff members on the brink of death reminded me about that huge controversy about MAPPA that happened last year 💀 It's not a secret that Sayo was overworking animators during YoI and there are still screenshots of animators calling her names on twitter and say condolences to each other, bc of being involved with YoI. So, YoI fandom now hating MAPPA, bc "bad MAPPA, bad working conditions, poor animators...", while demanding that they should stop producing shonens, bc they should make YoI instead is well... an example of how spending time in an echo chamber and just following the crowd can make you a huge hypocrite.
It should also be said that it's not that those shonens are "just for boys" or anything like that if we talk about this topic, btw. GoYuu from JJK (Gojo x Yuuji) is so popular with fujos that it has now more views in total on pixiv than VicYuu, and gets more views in 10-30 min than VicYuu gets in 24 hours (a huge credit for that should ofc go to YoI's IP holders, as they've been trying to starve the fandom to death since 2018, basically...) It's really ironic that it's YoI fans who are so much against MAPPA making those popular shonens, bc so many Jp VicYuu fujos moved to GoYuu (it's basically the same trope "the most awesome, strong and cool man in the world the seme" x "fujoshi avatar the main character in the center of the universe the uke") - one of the reasons, why Jp fans don't attack MAPPA - they very much enjoy those shonens. (Another is that they can read and it's very easy to check who owns the IP.)
To sum up, as always, it's very unfair for YoI fans to call Otsuka CEO the greedy homophobic liar, while absolutely refusing to see the bigger picture.]

hey, mysterious anon again (yeah, i'm sticking to mysterious, i like it). i just wanted to ask since you've been here for more time than me, do you think mappa would like, let us know if ice ado actually got cancelled or shelved? i'm still getting into anime and i'm not sure how these studios communicate with audiences... like, if they just gave up on it, wouldn't it make sense to just deal the coup de grace and let us know it's not happening? how do they benefit from keeping us in the dark?
this question is.... complicated. there are a lot of factors that go into it.
i've been hoping someone would ask me this question so i could go nuts lol. this is very VERY VERY long (tl:dr at the end) and goes into a LOT so brace yourselves...
just to preface this: yuri on ice is the only anime whose production i closely watch. i have much more knowledge in western production practices (modern cartoons like the owl house for example) so i'm kind of assuming a lot of policies are similar for anime.
alright, so i'll split this question into three parts: 1) has ice adolescence been cancelled? 2) what could lead to cancellation? 3) would they tell us if it was cancelled?
1 ) has ice adolescence been cancelled?
as far as we, the general public, are aware: no. but is there a possibility of it BEING cancelled? at this stage in the game it would be a major loss for MAPPA as a company assuming they're as far along in the production process as we'd expect. animation is extremely expensive and we know that ice adolescence has been at the very least in pre-production (brainstorming, pitching, etc.) since yuri on ice ended. so nearly six years. six years of investments MAPPA has put into this movie and therefore that means they'd lose a shit ton of money.
from a business standpoint, cancelling (or shelving) the movie unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary, which i can only think of very few situations that would allow for that (i'll elaborate), would be a huge loss. they've put too much money into the franchise and they're probably relying on it to bring in major bucks when it would release as it is the anime that put their studio in the big leagues with its sucess.
also, there's a lot of evidence that suggests the movie is fairly far along in the production pipeline, probably in the end stages of animation and probably in post-production right now. (compositing, sound design, etc.) mitsurou kubo, co-creator of yoi, has given a few hints that the movie is still being worked on, like changing her private twitter account's bio to read "This account is inactive for a while. Now at work #iceadolescence" back in december 2021. and she posted some pictures of her at-home workstation with yoi related notes when the pandemic hit. so it's safe to assume the movie is still being produced.
also if the movie was cancelled, it probably would have been months if not YEARS ago. it's too far along in production and would 1) be a huge financial loss, 2) could give their studio a bad reputation, 3) people have waited too long to hear that it would be cancelled and could start major upset among the public. and if it was cancelled we would have been told, either by the creators/staff or by MAPPA themself. (i'll also elaborate on this as well)
2) what could lead to cancellation?
this... is a loaded question that relies on many outside factors. i'll break it down into internal and external factors. note that most of these are unlikely to happen at this point in production!
internal factors that could lead to cancellation could include budget issues, executive-ordered cancellation, licensing and contracting, legal issues, etc.
a lack of budget into ice adolescence could ultimately cancel the project if it needs a larger budget than they can allocate. though i wouldn't be surprised if ice ado has a HUGE budget as they need a shocking amount of external resources for production. for skating sequences alone they need a choreographer to make them (which we know were choreographed by kenji miyamoto and unnamed living legends, so one can imagine those prices are high as fuck), someone to perform the routines, recordings of the routines from multiple angles, a team of animators to focus specifically on skating sequences, among other things. not to mention the amount of original music they need for skating routines, rule-compliant costume design from professional costume designers, gathering sounds effects for each routine so the sound design is as accurate as possible.... the list goes on. they need MONEY for that and if yoi had it, ice ado likely has twice as much if not more.
there's been instances of shows being cancelled straight from executive request. for example, the owl house was supposed to have a full third season but was cut down due not to budget, but because company executives felt that the show was too progressive and was losing them money in conservative countries. this is technically internal but it can be influenced by external stuff too (like politics and culture). if ice ado was cancelled this way it would have happened ages ago and we would have been told already.
in terms of licensing and contracting, music can be a tough road to navigate because most of the time producers will sell their music to a company and then that company own full rights to that music. years ago it was common for artists to own their music and just license it to a company so they still owned it but not so much anymore. an example is c418, the composer of the original minecraft soundtrack. the reason he doesn't compose music for the game anymore is because he and his lawyers couldn't come up with a contract that microsoft would accept that still allowed him to own his music. so maybe MAPPA ran into an issue with the music or sound design. these things can haunt production but a cancellation from this is rare.
other legal stuff can include copyright issues, more licensing stuff, publishing stuff, distribution, that kinda stuff. these might also fall under external but the reason i'm putting them here is because my external category is gonna get... overwhelming.
external factors that could lead to cancellation include the current political climate, laws regarding media content, external funding, and stuff like that.
i'll skim most of this because i want to get straight to the two things that i FIRMLY believe have an actual possibility of cancelling ice adolescence and that i am CONVINCED have halted production: the 2022 winter olympic doping scandal and the war in ukraine.
ice adolescence is pretty much confirmed to be about victor nikiforov's backstory and past accomplishments as a world-class skater. a russian world class skater. and the movie takes place during an olympic season. AND if we're assuming his backstory takes inspiration from real skating events, there was a huge doping scandal at the 2014 sochi winter olympics. so i think given the fact that ice ado takes place during an olympic season, victor is 17yo and it's his first olympics, i wouldn't put it past the writers to write some sort of doping scandal or some sort of olympic fiasco. it doesn't necessarily need to be HIM, but if it mentions doping in the same vicinity as russia, there's gonna be an issue.
for those of you who aren't aware, russian figure skater kamila valieva was caught doping at the 2022 olympic back in february and it caused CHAOS. the women's division was a mess and no one knew how to handle the situation. its resulted in the isu raising the age to compete in the senior division, the team skate podium never receiving their medals, and just general chaos among russia and talk about how they treat their athletes. i think you can understand why ice adolescence might be stepping on sensitive territory with these... cough... current events. MAPPA could have faced lethal consequences if they released the movie content near or after the olympics.
now for the war in ukraine. i'm not saying that ice ado will mention anything about war (maybe something about the fall of the ussr but probably not??) but given how any topics regarding russia right now are super duper sensitive, one wrong comment and it could be really dangerous. MAPPA could lose rights to distribute yoi to russian companies, streaming services, selling merch in russia, etc. and also not to mention victor nikiforov is engaged to a man and his younger self doesn't follow traditional male gender roles (long hair, androgynous costumes, etc.) russia's stance on lgbtq+ people is. uh. you know.
basically, MAPPA is kinda holding japan's political stance on russia in their hands. if they released a movie with content on doping, scandals, or anything that might paint russia in a bad light, they're representing japanese media on an international scale. and if russia doesn't like this silly little gay movie that's come out of japan and take offense to it.... i think you get what i'm saying.
realistically, the war is the only thing i could see ice adolescence getting completely cancelled over. though as of right now, it's just a delay and silence on ice ado news.
to summarize this: i firmly believe that ice adolescence has been delayed because of the current shit in russia. cancelling it would be too detrimental to the studio's finances and i honestly believe the yuri on ice pr guy is sitting with the ice ado trailer in his drafts waiting for russia to calm its shit so he can post the trailer without fearing legal consequences or making an international political statement by accident.
3) would they tell us if it was cancelled?
in short, yes! since it's already been announced and a trailer has been released, there would need to be some sort of public announcement for the media, if not for fans. if the movie wasn't publicly announced and was under NDA, they wouldn't publicly announce the cancellation.
for announcing cancellations and similar situations, in the western animation world it's usually not the studio or company that announces it but media that is given the information. sometimes crew or the creator of a show will announce stuff about their show instead of the company. also if they cancel something, they'll use their pr team to announce it and usually not on their main social media accounts or websites.
for example when the owl house was cut down to a shortened season 3, it was external media and the creator herself who made the announcement, not disney the company. and if you've been on social media recently you might know about the mass layoff in the western animation industry at companies like netflix. netflix never announced the cancellation of any of these projects publicly. the crew who worked on these projects (no longer under NDA) and external media as the ones who report this stuff.
assuming that eastern media uses the same procedures, if ice adolescence was cancelled, someone would have to report it. either the studio, an external reporter, or the creator/crew on the movie. and if by some horrible chance ice adolescence was cancelled, we'd be told some way or another.
delays are another story. technically they don't need to tell us about delays but considering how we were told about the first initial delay back in (if i remember correctly) 2019, they'd hopefully tell us if another one occurred.
and in terms of keeping us in the dark: they don't benefit from that in any way. they're technically losing money, viewership, and loyalty the longer they keep us waiting. one could argue that it's a strategy by building up the hype but at this point it's been too long. regardless of the production status right now, this long of radio silence is costing them. they're doing it for a reason.
my best guess is that MAPPA is holding off on releasing ANY information about ice adolescence to protect their company. it's too risky given the current politics surrounding russia and their drama at the olympics. i'd guess they'd wait a few more months until announcing anything, but at the very LEAST until russia's invasion of ukraine has calmed down or ended. politically, japan cannot risk any sort of statements while russia is this fired up. i can guarantee MAPPA will wait until russia has either gotten their ass kicked and is returning home with their tail between their legs or until they leave ukraine on their own terms.
TL:DR - all evidence points to ice adolescence still being in production! at this point in the game it wouldn't make sense to cancel the movie. they'd lose money from production and they'd lose income from its release. there are very VERY few things that could lead to cancellation at this point. however, i reckon production has been slowed down and they've been unable to release much about it recently because of the touchy political climate of the recent 2022 olympic doping scandal and russia's invasion of ukraine. they'd be risking their company (and country) if they released anything that could set off russia. so, they're holding off on releasing any information. whether that's general updates, a trailer, or even a release date. i believe MAPPA is waiting for things to calm down before they release anything that relates to ice adolescence.
but yeah! sorry this took kinda long to answer, i wanted to be a throughout as possible. hope this kinda answers your question! thank you once again for the ask mysterious anon! :)
sources for a lot of the production stuff i mention: dana terrace (creator of the owl house) and her crew, a storyboarding and animation production class i took, conversations with professionals in the western animation industry and animation students, the standard western animation pipeline, etc.

Even in 2022, queer rep in non-BL anime continues to suffer
My thread on Twitter about Requiem of the Rose King Episode 12 is doing numbers so I decided to share my post here as well.
It’s putting it lightly that I’m disappointed. When Yuri on Ice aired in 2016 and made history, Victor and Yuuri still experienced a forcibly censored kiss by Victor’s infamous arm placement. Sadly, even after Yuri on Ice elevated MAPPA to the iconic studio it has become, money was not enough to change how queer relationships are shown outside the sphere of BL (and GL) anime.
Homophobia continues to prevail in non-BL anime—yes, even in a queer romance featuring an intersex, bisexual protagonist:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spoilers ahead ⬎
The silhouette picture is a bit misleading. Thankfully the anime showed more than just that—the animation of the two leaning in made it very clear what was about to happen, so it was pretty hard to misinterpret even simple shapes and what they were doing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What followed was what I thought was the companion to the manga panel shown above, but I realized later that it's instead meant to be a different panel, but still showing their kiss. It's really hard to say they're not kissing here, but the knife placement was intentional.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fact that the sexual scene that followed was censored is no surprise to me—this anime has taken all of the themes that makes this manga phenomenal/powerful (violence, sex, and queer identities) and beaten them into obscurity. Have some neon lines instead of what's going on??
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At least they made Henry's complicated relationship with his own lust very clear:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though I still cannot forgive the anime for completely removing one of the most important parts of this manga/what makes it so progressive: the fact that he was assaulted by his wife.
Warning for discussion of rape and sexual assault: Henry is shown being raped by his wife in the manga, clearly, and it's not a joke or shown as anything but the trauma it is. To show a man going through this is nothing short of rare in media, let alone manga, and it was completely censored.
Henry's trauma from watching his mother have sex was at least alluded to, but poorly; not sure if anime-only's would have caught onto it or noticed. So, Henry's complicated relationship with his sexuality is portrayed mostly as religious when religion is only one factor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The buildup to the assassination was done really well—I was emotional, the music and the voice acting was well paced, and you can tell most of the budget for the entire show so far went into these shots. I am glad they treated this scene with so much care!!
However... the ending put a bitter taste in my mouth. Why? Richard and Anne kissed, which happened in the manga, and was portrayed without anything censoring the touching of their lips.
I wonder why this is.
It's almost as if a male/female pair can kiss on screen, completely unobscured, while in the very same show a male/male pair is blurred behind silhouettes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like on one hand, I'm glad they're treating Richard like a male character, because he is one... on the other, are you fucking kidding me? This makes me wonder how they are going to handle the MANY intimate scenes between Richard and Buckingham in the 2nd cour.
I also want to mention how the anime has a history of censoring some of the manga's most emotionally charged panels as blob-like silhouettes, so the fact that the Henry/Richard kiss was censored this way came as no surprise to me; that still doesn't make it right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As someone who has been a huge fan of Requiem of the Rose King since I discovered its first volume in 2015, this whole adaptation has been devastating. There’s a lot I can say about the poor animation (when there even is animation at all) and the horrid pacing (especially at the beginning), but the censorship is what really ruins this experience for me and anyone else, anime-only or not.
To censor blood, sex, and a non-binary gender experience completely sucks the art out of Requiem of the Rose King and all of its deeper meaning. Now, it looks like some cringey, edgy, goofy show for kids rather than what it really is: a moving, queer-retelling of a tragedy written centuries ago.
For those of you who have not read Requiem of the Rose King, I highly suggest it. ROTRK is a queer adaptation of Shakespeare's Richard III and Henry VI, in which its protagonist, Richard, is an intersex bisexual man. It has gorgeous art and a gut-wrenching story, and to top it off, it is completed.
Though the final volumes are still in the process of official translation and release, 80% of the story is available to you now through Viz Media. I highly suggest this manga if you want a dark fantasy, historical fiction series with queer romance, the gruesome nature of war, and tragedy.
I mean this with my entire chest: do not bother with the anime. I have a high tolerance for the quality of anime knowing what the studios put their creators through, but when I tell you this is one of the most pathetic adaptations I’ve seen... I can’t stress it enough. The anime will ruin your experience of this beautiful manga, so please only check it out if you’re curious after the manga.

Listen guys, just today alone, I saw hundreds of posts on Twitter and TikTok posting clips and campics of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Movie and if anyone here is also posting it, delete it because it's against Japanese copyright laws and you can get into some serious trouble for it. There are people who have/is still waiting to see this movie and to the staff that worked so hard for it to this day is so disrespectful and disappointing that it's not even funny. So if you see anyone posting on any social media platform with hashtags under #JJKSpoilers #JJK0Spoilers #satosugu or even just #劇場版呪術廻戦0 , report them and block them and if they want to make some noise, you tell them what they are doing is breaking the law and they should delete any post containing videos/pictures from the movie. I myself can only do so much, so please help me to spread this message across so we all have a fair chance to experience this amazing work created by Gege Akutami and produced by MAPPA'S staff.

Guess I’ll give my thoughts on the WEP special then!
To be honest, I’ve really lost faith in Cloverworks as a series. The Promised Neverland Season 2 was the first red flag for many, I know, but I really feel like since they’ve split off from A-1 Pictures (who was their parent company) they’ve really struggled. Although I did not watch TPN 2, I’ve heard that their adaption of Shadowshouse (which I was watching), cut something major out from the manga, which made fans worried it was going to go the anime original route. The ending to other shows they’ve done, like Balance: Unlimited, also have been shakey. Probably the only series I can think of in recent memory by them that wasn’t disappointing was Horimiya, which I think is really more of a testament to the directors and the rest of the production staff. Although, Horimiya was a well established work for years that was pretty easy to adapt (while TPN had just finished, WEP was original, Shadowshouse is ongoing, and FKBU was based on a novel so it was more of an original in Cloverworks’ hands) with it being a romance story that didn’t have any mystery or crazy plot, the ending had a lot of little details that to me showed the director always had a vision for how to control and guide the series.
It’s sad for me to say that besides that, I really just think Cloverworks as a studio in going to continue to create shows that are going to end disappointingly or suffer from crunch time. It’s become more and more commonplace to see that anime studios are reaching out on Twitter at the last minute to hire animators that are overseas to finish key animation that they can’t do in house. Throughout WEP’s run, I did see a lot of the Japanese animators posting their work on Twitter, but today when I went to look up WEP after the special, the first thing I saw was someone talking about how they were an interpreter and translator on the final episode (FARfromani on Twitter) . I won’t pretend to know the actual process that went on behind the scenes, but to me it’s very concerning to see that this COULD be another case of anime studios with poor time management and overworking their staff. Cloverworks isn’t the only one guilty of this, in fact the biggest offender is MAPPA (watch Canipa Effect’s Studio Spotlight for more info), but it is truly sad to see that so many creative works are going to suffer as a result of these conditions.
A few months ago, I claimed that Cloverworks may have decided to sacrifice TPN S2 in order to ensure Wonder Egg Priority didn’t fail when it had such an important message to share. I hate to have to think that now Cloverworks had to sacrifice WEP in favor of another franchise, but it’s possible. Although the finale was beyond disappointing, there were still some aspects I liked. I’m somewhat okay with the idea of the theme being that “you can’t get all the answers” especially concerning why people died, why people choose to die. Rather, I WOULD’VE been okay with it had Momo & Rika’s trauma been not so cleanly fixed and have them living their normal lives again. I would’ve been happy had the girls not come back, if they had not truly been resurrected. I think that some people might have some issues with what we learned about Koito today, but I actually kind of liked it? Mainly because I had a story idea years ago and Koito’s issues were very similar to that idea, so it was reassuring to see other people explore that topic from another perspective. Still, there were many things wrong with it, and it’s execution. And I wished there had been more.
Anyway, I can’t say I’ll be looking forward to whatever else Cloverworks puts out! Thank you to everyone who read and reblogged my theories back when WEP was airing, I’ll still be here to discuss stuff and other animes to come!

midnight thoughts
honestly, levihan twitter was so wild today.
there was an anti who dared to open their mouth again and insinuated that levi has mysophobia so he shouldn't be around the likes of hange who was known to be unhygienic. same person stated that lh have no canon content as if isayama is just a fanartist and he didn't draw every lh moment that the manga has.
this person blocked me lol.
then there was this levihan shipper who plagiarised someone's au, a haikyuu au. the person still won't delete their copied work, just forming a half-ass apology to the original writer.
imo, that person isn't really a writer. just a clout chaser.
then *SCREAMS* the official art dropped!!
I'm really happy that mappa released something. just levihan being so domestic with each other. LH wearing sweaters, a jacket wrapped around hange's shoulders while reading their book, and levi being the gentleman that he is by brewing two cups of tea for the both of them.
it just calmed me so much, a true blessing. Plus, the influx of fanarts from the levihan japanese fandom... truly chef's kiss 💋👌
Yet, another ship war started... I don't think i need to explain this anymore but yknow, if your ship was the one who was drawn, then we entered hange into the picture, you would flood our replies and quotes, too, more so than what few levihans were doing.
don't be such a hypocrite 😐
However, i don't wanna be toxic af anymore. All these events drained me so much. Nonetheless, i still feel elated.
I'm gonna go back to my regular programming, which are the following but not limited to: dragging my feet just to finish this course, surviving in this pandemic, writing and reading lh fics, and flooding your dashes with levihan reblogs hehe
luv u alllll <333

“Never skip the OP” is a phrase utilized by anime fans just as often, if not more than, the contemptuous brief summarization of a collective's hard work born of time, sweat, and soul as “it was mid.” Yet our fandom has no such parlance for EDs. Whether that is meant as a tacit, unspoken approval of such a terrible act, even in a medium which makes such judicious practice of including post-credit scenes, or EDs are simply so beneath notice as to not even engender sufficient attention to create such a coded permission remains unknown.
But fortunately, people DO watch them, otherwise, I wouldn’t be writing this article. While judges and fans are hard at work determining which of this year’s quality EDs deserves the coveted “ED of the Year,” I’m breaking down the best by viewership on the Crunchyroll Collection YouTube Channel, weighting each video at its views by 30 days so no advantages for appearing early. What follows is the Top 10 EDs of the Year as determined by YOU!
  10. HAIKYU!! TO THE TOP Ending 2 - "One Day" by SPYAIR
youtube
With the sheer power of SEO linking the volleyball boys to the likes of Ike, UZ, Momiken, and, of course, Kenta Sasabe, it’s no surprise that this ED would appear on this list. At 150k views in its first 30 days, what may be most surprising is "One Day" isn’t even higher with SPYAIR’s past contributions to Haikyu!! Like "Imagination" and "I’m a Believer." Hell, it even sounds like an OP.
  9. BURN THE WITCH - "Blowing" by NiL
youtube
Deprived of an OP, it’s great to see BURN THE WITCH secure a spot among the most popular EDs. NiL’s super chill "Blowing" drew 170k viewers in its first 30 days. Despite its relaxed feel, it’s hard not to get hyped watching it both for Colorido’s dynamic adaptation of BURN THE WITCH or just the excitement about the approaching return of Tite Kubo’s Bleach.
  8. Black Clover - "New Page" by INTERSECTION
youtube
Another laid-back guitar serenade on this list from INTERSECTION, "New Page" features Black Clover’s fan-favorite Secre right after her big reveal with some spectacular atmosphere and environment art for an ED. "New Page" earned 275k views in its first month and has since crossed half a million. If that seems like too few, then know that you have the power to change that.
  7. Boruto - "Maybe I" by Seven Billion Dots
youtube
Boruto’s 13th ED was a change of pace for the series with a surprising romp of an ED reminiscent of Naruto Shippuden’s OP 10 "Newsong" by tacica with some goofy dance moves and Team 7 showing up in themed kigurumis (animal pajamas). "Maybe I" cleared 280k in its first 30 days but has proven that it can withstand the test of time and now stands at a surprising 1.3 million lifetime views, tying it for the Number 2 spot in lifetime views on this list!
  6. Rent-a-Girlfriend Rika Special Ending - "First Drop" by halca
youtube
Possibly one of the coolest utilizations of an ED I’ve seen in anime, Rent-a-Girlfriend brought back halca for a one-time special ED to cover Rika’s backstory with panels from the manga portraying her tragic backstory to fill in the narrative gaps by transitioning directly out of and then BACK INTO a post-credit scene to paint a complete picture. The special ED grabbed 340k views in its first 30 days which is especially impressive since it was there and gone in a flash on the anime. halca’s "First Drop" is also every bit as good as ...
  5. Rent-a-Girlfriend - "Kokuhaku Bungee Jumping" by halca
youtube
"Kokuhaku Bungee Jumping" by halca is a fun song set to maybe the most risque ED since High School DXD. Like the special ED described above it makes liberal use of manga art and, uh, metaphors. "Kokuhaku Bungee Jumping" collected 390k views in its first day and sits at Number 3 in the list of lifetime views at 1.2 million.
  4. The God of High School - "WIN" by CIX
youtube
For a series with so much adrenaline, a cooldown ED was absolutely necessary and K-pop group CIX’s "WIN" was just that. MAPPA brought in a relaxed cool-colored photograph format visuals to accompany the smooth music. It’s no secret The God of High School packed a lot into its 13-episode run, so spending some extra time with the series' central trio just hanging out was appreciated. CIX grabbed 450k views in its first 30 days.
  3. Re:ZERO Season 2 - "Memento" by Nonoc
youtube
Nonoc knocked it out of the park with an absolutely beautiful third ED for Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- reminiscent of the series first ED with a splash of color and subbing butterflies for snowflakes. "Memento" had 570k views by the end of its first 30 days and sits tied for second at lifetime views with 1.3 million, although honestly, it may not count since at least half of those were me.
  2. Boruto - "CENTRAL" by Ami Sakaguchi
youtube
The directorial debut of one of Boruto’s brightest animators, Kana Ito, is absolutely spectacular. Inspired to get into animation by watching Naruto, she’s been delivering slick animation cuts to the series for years, and her taking the control with an ED back by Ami Sakaguchi’s "CENTRAL" provides an audiovisual experience every bit as good as a Boruto OP, rivaling even its own legendary "Lonely Go!." "CENTRAL" collected 800k views in its first month and already sits at just over 1 million lifetime views.
  1. JUJUTSU KAISEN - "Lost in Paradise" ft AKLO by ALI
youtube
It’s almost unheard of for an ED to overtake an OP in popularity, much less an OP directed by a legend like Shingo Yamashita. "Lost in Paradise" achieved the rare feat of clearing 1 million views in under a month and shows no signs of slowing down, now sitting at 1.7 to give it the highest total views despite coming in at the end of the year!
Some of the best cooldown content is goofy, slice of life moments, and combining that with some slick dance moves and excellent fashion packaged in yet another simply styled and brightly colored ED was not only perfect on its own but ideal material for fan content. In that, the similarities between "Lost in Paradise" and "Easy Breezy" are unmistakable in both their aesthetic and fan reaction.
Now there’s only one more category I’d like to cover. One much more difficult to dissect by raw viewership but that I will nonetheless attempt to categorize based on fan eyeballs alone. The best fight scenes of the year ...
Which was YOUR favorite ED of 2020? Tell us in the comments and come back tomorrow for the best fight scenes according to YouTube views!

Hi! Well I think they might have changed the regulations since even a BL that was broadcasted this year (the one about the blond guy and his teacher) couldn't show kisses (though i think they could show one in last episode?) anyway regarding not mentioning the kiss perhaps it was due to the fact they didn't choose the BL tag, the scan of the fanbook and translation you can find it in the tumblr account "gogoeeg" under the tag "sayo-yamamoto"
About the event in Philippines, I got friends from there who went and talked to me about it but I couldn’t find a post until now, to read it go to the account zuzusexytiems and search the tag “yoi-news” also not long ago mappa’s ceo talked about how Sayo always had the intention to depict a romance which i think was the most direct statement but of course not choosing a BL tag arrises problems, but even so as I told you about that other bl series, they couldn’t show kisses until last eps
Still same anon, but messages sent later on with links and more clarification:
Hi! Don’t rush if you need to study, I hope things go well with your finals, i found a twitter thread about the director’s statements on the fanbook (they also put tumblr links with the scans in the thread) i hope this link can be sent well twitter.com/hanleia/status/877682683429609472
Also this is a report of the event my friends in ph talked about, i met them because the persona fandom but they were into yoi too so it caught my attention, there might be more reports but is difficult to find them zuzusexytiems.tumblr.com/post/165924693224/met-sayo-yamamoto-fuuko-noda-of-yuri-on-ice-at-a?is_related_post=1
A second anon, I presume:
Regarding what the other anon said, is true, that other anime hitorijime my hero had a lot of censorship despite being a BL and even the staff of series “explicit visually” like no6 have explicitly stated the relationship is “probably one sided” or “up for interpretation”. The thing is that even co creator Kubo has already labelled Victor and Yuuri as a couple as well as mappa’s ceo Otsuka and even Sayo said in yuri on life that their love encompasses love like lovers, family, etc so (½)
As someone who participates a lot in japanese fandom I can tell you almost no one denies the kiss and they took that statement as “confirmation” (for westerns it would be when Otsuka said their relationship was 恋愛) I dont consider yoi the best representation but i can assure is not bait, you just have to check official material, あの二人の愛多くの意味を包含するから…友だちだけじゃない、恋人だけじゃない even JCM and Johnny Weir have spoken with the staff and assure is romance (2/2)
First of all, I would like to apologize to both of you for this late response. Although I said I would address this after finals, I got sidetracked by family obligations, and couldn’t really get together enough energy to look through these sources and do research until now. Hopefully you two still see this answer. I am compiling your messages and answering both of you at the same time due to the similarity in topic.
Before I get started on talking about TV regulations, I wish to clarify (especially for those who are not aware of what I’ve already written on yoi) that I do not consider yoi bait, due to queerbaiting being a US/UK concept. In my opinion, the term simply does not make sense in Japan–MAPPA was never trying to attract LGBT viewers to yoi, their material was always well in line with the light BL/shoujo demographic. My past criticism about yoi was focused on its overblown reception among international anime viewers; people were acting like yoi was going to revolutionize all Japanese media in regards to depictions of lgbt people, as if yoi was the first show to have men in love, as if Japanese lgbt people and organizations have not already been fighting this fight for years… and frankly it just annoyed me on how much people misunderstood and oversimplified the situation in Japan. Whatever your views on yoi are, I think most can agree that there’s a real disconnect happening when the only articles talking about how revolutionary yoi is were from western/international websites, and Japanese sites, including lgbt sites, had nothing.
Hence, despite having voiced my dissatisfactions towards Kubo and the yoi staff before on my blog, my main beef with yoi has always been more about its reception, the international fandom and their activity.
But I digress– the discussion regarding TV regulations goes back to my post “Yuri on Ice, anime ratings, and censorship”. I wrote this post on Nov 20, 2016–so not long after episode 7 had been released–and in this post I put forward arguments refuting the idea that “the YOI staff censored the kiss either because they didn’t want to change their rating or their genre, or to avoid government censorship laws.” While I still stand by this idea (because ratings and genres really don’t work the same way in Japan as they do in the US, and there are no government censorship laws that apply here) I also see that, after doing some more research, there were other factors that I failed to take into consideration, namely:
While there are no government laws or agencies that censor depictions of homosexuality in media (as there are in China), that doesn’t mean people/companies in Japan don’t exercise other forms of censorship, such as:
Corporate censorship: the sanctioning of speech by spokespersons, employees, and business associates by threat of monetary loss, loss of employment, or loss of access to the marketplace.
Self-censorship: the act of censoring or classifying one’s own work of media. Usually done out of fear of, or deference to, the sensibilities or preferences of others (Wikipedia).
What I’m hinting towards is that, basically, either:
Broadcasting Stations, while not having legal regulations, may pressure Anime Studios to change their content and/or
Studios themselves might be inclined to change their content in order to not conflict with Broadcasters’ perceived preferences or to better market their anime to certain Broadcasters.
This is actually an idea that I brought up in “Yuri on Ice, anime ratings, and censorship”, but did not fully develop– it would make sense if different broadcasting stations had different “preferences” in place regarding what content they prefer in the anime they broadcast, depending on their reach, image, and perceived audience. For example, stations such as AT-X and BS11, which are known for broadcasting a good deal of “shinya anime” (if you do not know what this term means please refer back to my post linked above), are much more likely to screen niche anime with explicit content than say, stations like TBS, whose anime content consists of those targeted to either children or shounen manga readers, a much wider demographic.
There is a possibility that these “preferences” are formalized in the shape of outlined standards. The JBA (The Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association), a non-profit incorporated association whose membership consists of 206 commercial broadcasters in Japan, focuses on upholding fundamental standards for commercial broadcasters, as well as on improving broadcasting ethics throughout the industry. Their standards, which are detailed in this document, “ JBA Broadcasting Standards”, are then used as a guideline for individual broadcasting stations to outline their own standards. However, since I am unable to find any individual broadcaster’s standards on the internet, this is mostly speculation, although the document itself is an interesting read and gives an idea of the various social pressures more mainstream broadcasters might face. For example, a couple of the outlined standards include:
26. Public morals shall be respected. Any possibility of arousing favorable feelings toward speech or action that is against common social practice, or desire to imitate such speech or action, shall be avoided.
77. When presenting sexual minorities, full consideration shall be given to the human rights of people who belong to said minorities.
A bit conflicting, given that a portion of Japanese people still think same-sex relationships go against public morals...
So, with all this being said, do I think it’s possible that the yoi staff was pressured into making the kiss scene what it was, not by any laws, but by social pressures translated into Broadcasters’ standards, a combination of corporate and self censorship? Yes, I do. Although TV Asahi did broadcast Shin Sekai Yori, an anime with same-sex relationships and kiss scenes, Shin Sekai Yori is an outlier among TV Asahi’s anime content. The majority of their programs (and BS Asahi’s, another station that broadcast yoi) are targeted towards a wider demographic, so I can see them having stricter standards.
Having come to this conclusion, I wish to apologize for my old post; although the information included there is accurate, I failed to consider the factors and possibilities outlined above, thus not giving readers the full picture.
Does this change my opinion about yoi? It changes my opinion that Kubo and Yamamoto could’ve included the kiss if they wanted to, but it doesn’t change the rest of my criticisms about yoi and its reception.
Oh and before I forget–
Regarding Hitorijime~My Hero: I am not familiar with this anime, but whichever way the kiss scenes were handled does not prove anything in regards to TV Asahi’s regulations, because the anime was not broadcast by TV Asahi in the first place. A quick look at the anime’s main website (http://hitorijime-myhero.com/onair/) shows that it was broadcast by AT-X, Tokyo MX, and BS日テレ–not by TV Asahi.
Furthermore, while Hitorijime may have only had one kiss scene, BL/GL anime such as Super Lovers 2 and NTR~Netsuzou Trap showed multiple kiss scenes, and non-BL/GL anime like Kuzu no Honkai and Koi to Uso each had one as well. (All mentioned anime were broadcast in 2017.)
But if anything, this lends more weight to my theory that different broadcasters simply have different standards, and anime studios self-censor their content in order to market to certain broadcasters. Hitorijime, Super Lovers 2, and NTR~Netsuzou Trap were all broadcast by AT-X (shinya anime) and Tokyo MX (shinya anime), but only Hitorijime was broadcast by BS日テレ (wider demographic), while Super Lovers 2 and NTR were broadcast by BS11 (shinya anime). So perhaps BS日テレ is stricter? Makes sense to me.

That’s fine. But I am very happy to see that Japanese fans take victuuri quite seriously, like you said they actually tweet about the lack of rings and even the absence of JJ in the podium picture. It just gives me a sense that they see them as a real couple not just a fantasy or anything like that. Perhaps this is why some of them are very disappointed about the whole wttm thing, they want real substance not fanservice. They have enough of it.
They definitely take it seriously and think of them as a legitimate couple. Obviously not every fan is the same, and there are some outliers who, just like in Western fandom, think they aren’t really canon, but they’re a small minority (contrary to what certain translators say). Japanese fandom is well aware that YOI is not a standard fujo bait show, but is something much more legitimate in its presentation of the m/m relationship.
There’s this weird tendency to act like Japanese fandom doesn’t get this, and I think a lot of it comes from the words of one person who people trusted just because she ‘speaks Japanese and has Japanese friends’, but by now I think people should be well aware that person isn’t really trustworthy.
There’s a reason Jfandom didn’t need confirmation that it was a kiss.
Of course they know what sells or else they will not use victuuri as the cover of the manga when they barely make an appearance. This is a conspiracy theory so don't take it too seriously. But some fans are actually furious about that. Right now I just hope those fanartists do not quit fandom :-( I came across with a Jp twitter user who at first put "I do not satisfy with the bonus manga" in bio and then they changed it with "I want full ver of duetto and Yuuri's FS" and after the release
I wouldn’t think too much of the manga cover. Remember that there’s no way to buy the manga separately and no one even knew what the cover was going to look like until they got their blu-rays yesterday and today. They just threw the BD art on it because it’s what the manga is for, I imagine. The Yurio art on there with them is super old promo art.
Basically the cover of the manga is irrelevant to selling it so I don’t think what they slapped on it it was much of a decision.
But they are absolutely right in that it was 100% a bad marketing decision to not put on a full version of duetto, which is what a large portion of fans wanted, and what was the most plot and character relevant. And really, YOI is so popular, there’s absolutely zero reason they could not have had both WTTM and Duetto. A lot of less popular shows have entire OVAs.
If something like this pushes a fanartist out, I imagine they might have been losing interest already anyway?
(Random but I do hope that Japanese fandom knows about the ring censorship thing and is sympathetic to MAPPA about that now. I can’t imagine they don’t.)
ameliarigby: Of manga they say "I don't know what to say anymore". From that and that frustrating anon you came across yesterday(?) I call tell many are disappointed with their decision. I am sorry if I have said too much on this because I am also frustrated with the creators' decision. Why pull fanservice when you have a healthy gay relationship? I just don't understand anymore
WTtM was originally supposed to be in the show. As we know, it was on the Oh! Skatra OST, so I don’t mind that they animated it for the BD. What I mind is that we also didn’t get the full Duetto skate.
As for the Otabek stuff, I think YOI staff didn’t really expect him to be very popular. They were not at all prepared for him to arguably be the fourth most popular character in the series in Japan (maybe over here too IDK). Merchandise didn’t feature him, he had very little screentime, etc.
So I think the first thing combined with the second led to the creation of the WTtM manga and skate, but they also way overestimated the popularity of those things. They forgot that despite the fact that a lot of fans wanted more Otabek and Yurio, the majority of Jfandom is invested in Victor and Yuuri.
Japanese blurays cost 70 bucks a piece, and for that manga, you had to buy all six of them. For all of the extras on the final volume (outside of the live-action skating centered ones) to literally only cater to one of the three main characters. No wonder people are mad.

While it is unfair for Mob Psycho 100 not winning the “award”, it is also unfair for Yuri!!! on ICE to get this much hate and salt.
Why? Because it’s neither the show’s nor the fandom’s fault this controversy happens. It’s all Crunchyroll’s fault this happened
A really long post but won’t cut it since this needs to be read.
The voting system is problematic. There’s no word “unfair” in this kind of voting system, and spamming isn’t prohibited.
Last year I had almost no time to watch anime at all. Pretty much YOI was the only anime that I truly watched because I’ve been hooked since last March, so I know I may not be the right person to talked about this since I haven’t actually watched the others. And i’m sure there’s a lot of people who’s the same as me.
When I first saw a voting page and realized that it was available to vote countless time, I was like “Really, are you seriously allowing people to spam the vote?”
Crunchyroll is a big site. One of the biggest anime community site. Of course that when they make an “awards”, it looks like a huge deal to a lot of people. (When it is just an internet poll, not an Oscar or Golden Globe.)
There’s a lot of informal voting webpage like “Anime Trending” on Facebook in which they also use this kind of voting system and the results sometimes oppose to a lot of viewvers (some weeks Victuuri was not the first in couple ranking) and people then being salty over it, but that’s that, cuz everyone knows it’s just an internet poll.
Back to Crunchyroll. The award is divided in categories, making it look even more look like an Oscar or Golden Globe. This is where the controversy start.
Crunchyroll’s voting system is not suitable to categories award.
As many people said, it’s an all-in-all popularity vote. Seeing the most popular anime of 2016 wins every single categories it was nominated can be a bit disheartening but not surprising. And really, when any of the film got nominated in an award, that means the show have an potential to win already.
Let me give you one example of the affect of the voting system. This year’s Tokyo anime awards will be judged from a top 100 anime airing between 1 Dec year before to Nov 30 of the previous year that people voted using twitter and they were allowed to re-vote every 2 hours.
Tumblr media
(This picture was taken roughly 1 moth before the death line.)
Now what happened was that while nobody make a fuss of YoI being the first place, the second place, Cute High Earth Defense Club, got some salt from the western anime fans like “The poll is biased” or “It’s not deserved” because thee other famous show like Re:Zero was at 30-something and Kimi no Nawa, an insanely famouse Shinkai Makoto’s works, was at 80.....what may happened here was that 1) spamming happened 2) some don’t know about the vote. However, this poll wasn’t a final. I think the top 100 wil have to be judged by the judges to decided the winner of TAAF.
THAT IS HOW THE BIG AWARD SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE! Using professional judges to find the winner.
And you know that this kind of “unfairness” happened all the time.
An common example can be founded in game shows, especially Got Talent. For me, in my country, the runner-up was more “deserving” than the winner many times.
The first season was a girl singer who was already rich and had a great yet common voice, while the runner-up was a handicapped who played guitar with one hand. The latest season’s winner was an acrobatic twins while the runner-up was a guy who inhumanly bended and twisted himself like he has a bones of rubber (X) who actually participated for the second time after the lost of the previous season to some whining brats team. You knew who has a real talent but sometimes the most deserved sometimes lose when there’s a vote.
And here’s some talk about Yuri on ICE’s popularity that needs to be respected.
I know that Yuri on ICE won some of the award by popularity, and I do feel a bit glum by that. However,Yuri on ICE’s popularity is not something common. No one really thought it would success. A lot of big studios rejected it because the skating scenes were a huge job and may not worth the effort, only MAPPA the risk-taker took the project and made it blossomed to the point that it rode on the top of almost every ranking in anime world.
However, some people said that it’s overhyped. TBH I really don’t understand this term much cuz if somethings get insanely popular (like Undertales) then that’s mean the thing is loved by a lot of people and there’s nothing such as “was loved too much” unless it came from a POV of the person who doesn’t like the things and try to forced their opinion to others face.
Okay back to YoI. Especially after the award, there is a lot of “ YoI is just a baiting anime that makes fujoshis go crazy.” or “YoI is just a show solely for a queer fan” (The latter is quite homophobic but there really is this comment.) Now with the amazing analyzation of @thatshamelessyaoishipper about YOI is not a bait (x) a discrimination and possibly misogyny within the fandom (x) pretty much sums up of what’s going on in regards to the LGBTQA+ and yaoi fangirls side of popularity. (you know that the real gayness of this show also made some people dropped this series?)
However, Yuri on ICE manages to appeal a lot of non-anime fans by many assets of them. Breathtaking OST (seriously i cried when I first heared of the full yuri on ICE song like I had been waiting for 8 moths for that.), Animation (will talk about that later), figure skating (the figure skating fans would at least intrigued by that) that lots of world class skaters watched it and even debut in the show.
Having a wide variety of the viewers is a big confirmation of the show. For example, Kimi no Nawa managed to appeal a lot of people who isn’t an animation fan by it’s stunning visuals (typical Shinkai) and a unique story, making it the top box office in many countries. Same goes with YoI but Kimi no Nawa is easier to access to the non-anime fan than Yoi, being a 2-hour movie and a 12-episode anime.
An another thing why the fandom are so agressive in voting is becuase we want MORE of it. While most of other anime either based on some other media which some of them already confirm season 2, YoI still haven’t officially announced S2 yet. The fandom try to support the show in any way possible, even if it’s just a meaningless internet poll.
Yuri on ICE isn’t not deserved, but isn’t Ready to deserved.
I will never say YoI isn’t deserved best animation, but I wil say that YoI is not ready to deserved or isn’t deserved YET. This post  shows an inaccurate accussion by a salty people and a brilliant explanation of how animation works and how YoI’s animation is not the best it could be. Like I’ve said, MAPPA took YoI, the show that big studios refuse to take a challenge. MAPPA is not a powerhouse studio was given a low budget due to a lack of hype. If they have more time and budget, everything will be better, really. So go buy Bluray/DVD.
Back to voting. What Crunchyroll should have done?
1. 1-vote-per account
Sign in an CR account or create a new one. An account can only use one vote per category. Just sign in is free. I’ve seen many survey site using this.
2. Using the same methods as TAAF.
Okay this one will be more tricky but I think it’s possible. Make a nomination poll in each category and use judges to find the winner. Now this wil be almost the same as Oscar and Golden Globes or other formal awards.
If you wanna make it look professional, then use a professional system.
To sums up everything.
Crunchyroll should have use a better voting system if they gonna try to make this “award” look important and is not  just a meaningless internet poll (which it will always be).
Yuri on ICE’s popularity shouldn’t be degraded as “some fujoshi shit” (cuz if that’s true then BL must be a top genre already) and shouldn’t be disrespected.
As one of a fan of YoI who have been watching it sine the first pv in March 2016 and worried that the show may not succeed knowing it’s rough pre-production, to see it finally got a recognition it deserved but then got hated more than necessary because of some poorly functioned internet poll by a streaming website is sad for me.
There’s nothing wrong of voting what you like. Spamming vote isn’t wrong if there’s no rules about it. Even if the results doesn’t turn out “fair” in everyone’s eyes, please remember that it is just an internet poll that won’t give any solid benefit to the anime (in this case it gives YoI a backlash.)
Well I guess even this can’t calm some salty people, but just so you know being salty wouldn’t change anything.

It's time to hit the pool, because four new cast members and the theme song performers have been revealed for RE-MAIN, an upcoming original TV anime that focuses on the trials and tribulations of a high school water polo team. The new cast members (pictured above, from left to right) include:
  Hikaru Midorikawa as Akimitsu Bizen.
Natsuki Hanae as Takeshi Toyama.
Mahiro Takasugi as Akihisa Fukui. (special appearance)
And Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Norichimi Ishikawa.
The opening theme, entitled "Forget Me Not", is performed by ENHYPEN. The ending theme, entitled "Kowareta Seikai no Byoshin wa" ("The Clock's Second Hand of a Broken World"), is performed by Shugo Nakamura.

The story of RE-MAIN is decribed as follows:
The protagonist is Minato Kiyomizu, who quit playing water polo in the winter of his third year of junior high school after an incident. He enters a high school and one promise leads to him starting playing water polo with the friends he met there. However, the weak and small water polo club is faced with a variety of difficulties...

RE-MAIN is directed by Masafumi Nishida and Kiyoshi Matsuda and features animation production by MAPPA. The series will broadcast in Japan as part of the TV Asahi "NUMAnimation" programming block on Saturdays during the 25:30 time slot (actually on Sunday morning at 1:30am JST) beginning on July 03, 2021.
