All four represented Nintendo published Nintendo Switch games - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Super Mario Odyssey, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, ARMS, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2)
Note that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was also released on Wii U, and Inkling and Moray Towers are based on Splatoon for the Wii U, rather than Splatoon 2 for the Nintendo Switch

xbc3 off-seer toya sketch
ramblings under cut
!!spoiler warning for all three of the numbered xenoblade games!! mostly the first two actually. i imagine if any reads this, it will be a curious pjsk fan who doesn’t really care about xenoblade, but proceed at your own risk.
i have ideas for all of the pjsk characters i just don’t have the patience to draw them all out.
i wanted all the natural pairs set up by the game to be one agnian/one kevesi so they could be ouroboros. they’re also probably all off-seers or wannabe off-seers because that’s really the only music in aionios.
i’ll at least talk about vbs here.
toya is the off-seer for a kevesi colony. he has a pretty high percentage of high entia blood, so he still has pretty big headwings (compared to others in 3, not pure blood high entia) but they match his hair color. for some reason his dad feels like the type who would have been a high entia blood purist, but toya made it to aionios somehow so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
akito is agnian and would become toya’s ouroboros partner. he’s also an off-seer, but like mio he probably got drafted into the role due to his prowess when he really just wanted to be a great fighter and make it to his homecoming. he’s gormotti and has the cat ears. also face stripes. they might just be a nia thing but i think they’re fun. i imagine you don’t see his core crystal much like taion, but he could have a flesh eater’s core crystal.
if i’m remembering correctly, agnian colonies commonly have two off-seers, so an would be in the same colony as akito. i feel like she definitely has to have the fire hair like sena and brighid. like she’s already got the gradient, it’s perfect. i don’t imagine her having a peculiarly shaped core crystal, but she could have ether lines like sena as well. she probably is more naturally in tune with off-seeing than akito, but he has the edge in combat. they probably has a similar relationship to canon where they poke fun at each other and argue, but they take care of each other when things get rough.
for kohane i think she comes from a different kevesi colony than toya. her colony’s off-seer just died unexpectedly, so kohane took up the mantle as the new off-seer for the colony. maybe toya’s colony is nearby so he helped train her like crys with noah. i know there’s like a kevesi off-seer school/training program but i don’t care. kohane is just a basic homs like noah. an is her ouroboros partner, too
[edit:]
as far as combat stuff, i think kohane is an attacker, an would be an attacker, but in more of a debuff-y way, akito a dodge tank (i picture him similarly to mio), and toya could be a healer.
i think the flutes are customized to the off-seer in game? so everyone gets a custom one + a charm. toya’s charm is a wing but i might change it later. akito’s is a lightning bolt. an’s is a star. not sure about kohane yet either but maybe she’ll just have a ring similar to noah since she’s new to off-seeing.
also thinking toya maybe caught the eye of a consul while in off-seer and was taught violin. i’m not sure if off-seer flutes are made specifically somehow that allows the special motes to rise, but i say toya’s violin is customized and it can raise motes.
maybe the way toya’s dad is worked in is that he’s the consul (tho not literally toya’s bio dad then) that teaches toya violin, and then toya has a whole arc about coming to terms with the fact consuls are bad because he was close to one.
he’s temporarily at kohane’s colony teaching her when the whole ouroboros thing happens.
toya’s instrument could be worked into his blade like glimmer, but i kinda like the idea that it’s an actual instrument not made for battle in anyway. and it means he gets to stand over a battlefield and play a haunting violin melody.

sorry if this has been asked before but what do you think about countries with large immigrant communities living with their new host country? Romano and America for example
I didn't have strong feelings about it for a long time, but @hetagrammy's Ireland and S Italy living with Alfred gives me absolute JOY. Like please, that puritan raised little shit living in a house full of passionate Catholics makes my brain make happy mechanical noises.
Romano is a good example. My brain seems to be drawing a blank on them rn but I have thoughts somewhere on this god-forsaken blog.
But Ameliet getting its start in a Boston rowhouse, stealing glances as they plant onions in window boxes and sliding into each other's beds in the darkest hours, knowledge gained and granted by proximity and compatibility. Seeing the first picture shows and ending the night drinking Stakliškės liquor in a Lithuanian Catholic Hall basement, Alfred choking a little on the taste of juniper and honey until they can stumble home on a tram. Not touching, not touching, not touching until the front door slams behind Alfred and Tolys is on him. It's a coin toss about who will end up pressed against a wall.
On a more platonic level for Alfred, I have this long winding series of headcanons about how the 1840s took Brighid from Ireland to Halifax, to Toronto and when Matt could contact Alfred, he personally retrieved his extremely ill aunt and took her back to Boston or New York. She at least got over the typhus there before she went anywhere, and generally, she lived with him on and off through the 19th century. Alfred had money and room. He was lonely. Baby Jack had pulled up some maternal feelings in Brighid she'd not experienced on a person-to-person level very often in her life, and I think she and Alfred both very much enjoyed what time they had together. Clothes, care, food, stability, dignity and companionship for Brighid. A maternal ear, affection, someone to come home to at the end of the day and conversation for Alfred. It's been decades since he had a parental influence in his life. It's not perfect; there was some fuckery with the treatment of Irish immigrants that did cause some friction I don't want to overlook, but generally, I think they were quite happy? I like the image of mid-century Alfred walking his aunt arm in arm through market towns after they've come from their denomination of church and humans having no problem taking them as mother and son. In their Sunday best, Brighid was in a well-appointed bonnet and shawl, never quite at home but safe, warm and respected.
And Katya and Matt in the 1890-1910 era. Moving east to west as the Ukrainians did across the plains from Ontario. There's a line from Stan Roger's Northwest passage, "tracing one warm line through a land so wild" or something similar idk. I'm writing this from my bathroom floor; cut me some slack on the specifics but a train, a wagon, or even a car by crossing the line from the woodlands, where the ability to canoe ends and the prairies open up in front of them. Matt's childhood anxiety of needing trees to scuttle up when he's scared, where he has fought from and fled to at any sign of trouble, rears its ugly head. He hesitates, and Katya's hand finds his. This is her domain, this endless grass sea and glassy sky. She looks at him, hard to read, but her thumb traces the back of his hand. Tracing one warm line, through a land so wild. And they drive on. Do they live out there? Does she just want to see what her people have made of this land? I don't know. But I know he loves her and her people made a home in his heart. Also the mental image of her and Matt having the exact same amount of vodka in their systems but Katya's barely tipsy and Matt's flushed and hammered enough that when someone brings out a fiddle he has the balls to take her by the waist and dance. Even if its just spinning around in a group of other couples, mistaken for another young married immigrant couple making their way west. That doesn't feel like a lie, when she curls up next to him at night.

Qui Gons Dedication
~A small self dedication ritual when you decide you are ready to seriously walk any given path in life, be it religious, magical, or otherwise.~
Tumblr media
What you need
A candle, any color and scent that match whatever you’re dedicating yourself too. (for instance, if you associate purple with magic and are dedicating yourself to a path of witchcraft, use a purple one.)
Any incense that, like the candle, you associate with what you’re dedicating yourself to.
Any tools of your craft.
If you’re dedicating yourself to a certain element, or deity, anything that corresponds with it. (i.e. a picture of them, or animal they are associated with)
What to do
First off, prepare yourself mentally and emotionally (and physically if your dedication requires some sort of fasting or the like.) Shower, meditate, eat, cleanse, ground and center. Prepare your work space. Cleanse it, organize it, set the things on it you will be using in the dedication, including an offering of some kind if it is for a deity.
Call on the deity, element, entity, or path you are dedicating yourself to. Ask for their presence, their protection, or call to the path, state that this is what you want and what you intend to do with a portion of your life.
Once you have stated your intent, clearly, light the candle and incense. Focus on what you are dedicating yourself to. What is it you wish to gain from this path, power, deity etc? What is it you intend to do to follow said path, deity, etc? Are you going to openly walk this path or do it more discreetly? What do you bring to the thing you are dedicating yourself to? Step by step answer all of these questions either in your mind and heart alone or also write them down.
Start a journal of sorts, this being your first page. Now that you’ve got all of that in mind, verbally state your intent. Tell yourself out loud, while watching the flame, what path it is or what deity it is you are dedicating yourself to. For example, when I dedicated my path to following Brighid, it was rather formal. “I, Michael, hereby call on you, Lady of fire, to consecrate this place, these tools, and myself, onto the path you have shown me. Guide me, inspire me, that I may honor and worship you in my work and in my actions.”
Once you have done this, present your offerings, or sacrifices. What did you bring to honor the path/ power/ entity you are dedicating yourself to? What parts of life if any, are you giving up or changing to follow this path? When that is done, ask the powers you have invoked to guide you further on the path. Let the candle and incense burn down for a bit until you feel the time is right to end the ritual.
Cleanse, meditate on the questions and answers you’ve given. Whenever you are working on anything involving what you’ve now dedicated yourself to, open the journal you made, if you’ve made one, and make another entry. Have you created another ritual? Do you regularly give some form of offering? What have you learned from this new path or following?

Witch journal: 2/12/23
Current focus: The 3D. Grounding in the physical plane, fully inhabiting the body, remembering the sweetness and beauty of being human on this earth. Taking a break from energy work and high energy states to acknowledge that the body and mind can only handle so much and humanness is divinity in its own way. Centering. Passively connecting with Archangel Raphael as healer and guide. Reorganizing Brighid, Holda, and Berchta's shrines and thinking about what spirit work entails, what I would want it to mean, as I grow and go forward.
Currently reading: In order to keep grounding/calming I should return to science books such Genius of Birds and Second Nature. I will probably be referencing Urban Magick to help write my Genus Loci guide.
Currently working on: Creating an outline for a written Genus Loci profile and then one for my current neighborhood.
-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~
Exercises like these keep me on track and help me ground/see the bigger picture with ADHD. In recognition of this blog's original purpose as a personal journal I may start posting these more often.

2, 4 and 8 for the polytheist asks!
2. What draws you to your Gods? What do you like about them?
Goodness, where to even begin. I don't know that there's any one thing that draws me to my gods. Brighid, certainly, has always been present in my life. As annoying as some people find this sentiment, I personally believe that Brighid chose me, and the rest, as they say, is history. Though it iss also true that I was raised on a lot of Gaelic folklore and fairytales, so when I realized that I wanted to take a polytheist approach to religion, that seemed like the obvious choice. And while I did explore other options, I always ended up right back in the same place.
As far as what I like about my gods... I'm once again not even sure where to begin. How do I explain what I like about the dawn, or the sound of wind through the mountains, or the feeling of a poem that sticks to your heart? I like all these things about my gods, and so many more that are impossible to put into words.
4. How do you picture the universe? What is your idea of its cosmology?
I was wondering if someone would ask this one, the Big Boy. At the outset, I will say that my cosmological perception is squishy, and always open to change. For example, something occurred to me as recently as a few days ago that has given me a new way of looking at things. The mysteries of the universe aren't exactly concrete, y'know?
With that out of the way, it is commonly accepted knowledge that there is no creation story in Gaelic mythology. Or, if there was, it didn't survive Christianization. Either way, the mythos describes waves of different groups of gods and people coming to Ireland from abroad, with no mention of how Ireland or the people arriving to the island came into existence.
Now, I've talked on this blog before about how it isn't entirely accurate to say that there is no creation story in Gaelic mythology. While yes, there is nothing as solid as "God created the world in seven days," there are stories referencing an Cailleach as an earth-forming figure. These stories, to my knowledge, come primarily from Gaelic areas in the Highlands of Scotland, and usually involve an Cailleach creating mountains or islands by intentionally placing or accidentally dropping stones from her basket or apron. It's hard to say how old these stories are, and they are certainly a far cry from saying explicitly that an Cailleach formed the world (often the world is already there and she's adding to it), but I personally find them very intriguing. In my own practice, I have come to view an Cailleach as a primordial force responsible for at least some of creation. She has formed at least some of the earth, and presides over the darkness within which life incubates. She may not be the single driving force behind creation, but she is certainly a creator.
Beyond that, Gaelic polytheism teaches us that there are three realms - earth, sky, and sea. What these realms are, and what they represent, isn't always set in stone. Based off of folklore, the teachings of GaelPol elders like Erynn Rowan Laurie, and my own experiences, I currently view earth, sky, and sea, as both the literal essential elements of life (land to live on/eat from, air to breath, watch to drink), and as larger spiritual realms in their own right. The realm of sea is cthonic. Spirits dwell below the waves, below the fairy mounds, within the realm of sea. It is a mythic, deeply primordial place. All life came from it, and all life will inevitably return to it. Importantly, though the word used to refer to this realm is "sea," I personally believe that all waters, salt and fresh, are part of and portals to this realm.
Sky, a reflection of sea, is more ouranic or celestial. I'll admit that this is the realm I struggle the most to connect with and describe, perhaps because it is so lofty and harder to physically access. Additionally, while so many traditions reserve sky as the place of the gods, that doesn't necessarily hold true for Gaelic polytheism. Our gods are described as interacting more with the land or water. While they do interact with wind and weather, and can be found in high places like the mountains, it isn't as straightforward as the gods all living in Mount Olympus. However, this does seem to be the place of higher beings, where things like divine inspiration are formed. More on this in a moment.
Finally, the realm of earth is as it sounds. It is the mortal plane where we reside. It is a sacred, living thing that takes care of us, and that we have a responsibility to tend to in return.
Lastly, if we're talking about cosmology, I would be remiss if I did not mention that idea of fire-in-water, the idea that fire mixed with water is the catalyst for life. To my understanding, this is a common theme in Indo-European creation stories, and it is a motif that can be seen in several Gaelic myths and pieces of folklore. Sometimes the water is the sea or a sacred well, sometimes the fire is a human figure receiving knowledge from a god, or hazelnuts of wisdom falling into a pool. In the past, I was tempted to see this concept of fire as some kind of nebulous fourth realm. However, I have recently enjoyed the interpretation as fire coming from the realm of sky, and mixing with the realm of sea, to create the third realm of earth. There's no great historical evidence for it, but I find it interesting nonetheless.
8. What are some of your stronger UPG’s?
Rapid fire:
Brighid as guardian and tender of the original flame from which all other fires stem.
An Cailleach as the First Ancestor.
An Cailleach and Manannán as somehow interconnected. This isn't totally UPG because there is some folkloric evidence pairing the two, but it's weak enough that I'm comfortable putting it here.
Thank you for the questions, Nonnie!

Do you think your Jack will be able to mimic a Irish accent. I'm just think that maybe when he is in Ireland, he would use that accent so he can make it easier to explain he is related to Bridget whenever he is over/gets himself into trouble. And rolling with that idea do you think Matt would use Nova Scotia accent when he is in Scotland? I can picture Alistair crying the first time Matt uses his accent (variant?) When he visits Scotland.
Basically, do they mimic accents or their close variant when visiting their aunt and uncles when they want to play family with less hassle. Especially when they are young.
(Baby bouncing rats and their British cat uncles/aunt)
Tumblr media
Jack I don't even think he has to mimick it it can just pop up naturally, especially before what we now know as Australian and New Zealand accents formed mostly in the post WWI era, and Canadian a bit earlier as there was a lot of American influence on ours. If you listen to Australian accents from the 1950s or what New Zealand used as a neutral, they're still a lot more British sounding and lilting that a bit to the left and taking on more Irish wouldn't be tricky at all. And there's only scant evidence of it because of the nature of colonization and the hard push towards Anglo-Saxon respectability by later Australians. Still, there's been some suggestion by linguists that in Australia, the Irish language and English spoken by Irish émigrés and prisoners took on some features and influenced Irish back in Ireland as well. Jack can easily pass for Irish, Brighid taught him English and at least some Irish; in the Australian accent, there are Irish features.
For Zee probably most often uses the RP or the historical equivalents because as a girl and then a woman and the most easily othered class and her father's money and her name are one of those things where she can't really sacrifice it as quickly or easily as Jack does. She's a very flexible code-switcher pushing from her very broad and often te reo Māori influenced New Zealand accent to a more neutral New Zealand accent to a variety of Scottish and English accents that typically are a very respectable variety. New Zealand English has a LOT of Scottish influence especially in the vowels. Honestly, more than a lot of Canadian English does.
As for Matt, well, he can pass for an Irish lad if he has to, what with the Newfies sounding... like they do. Nova Scotian accents are fascinating though because if you go too far up the coast they start sounding more New England Yankee than even my Boston-born ass does, but then there are even more Scottish-sounding people and whatever the fuck is happening on Cape Breton. But considering who taught Matt English first, there's going to be some Scottish in there. They're to blame for the 'aboat' thing we do and also the like weird one-upping of "oh, this was on sale" and "oh yeah? well this was even more on sale and second hand!" thing that anglos do about their clothes in the Maritimes. Fascinating species, the Maritimers. Oh, fuck sorry, babbling again, uhhhhhhh where was I? Yes! Alasdair gets very emotional when Matt speaks not only Scottish Gaelic at him in his stupid little Nova Scotian Gaelic accent but also gets a wee bit sentimental when the Scottish sounds come rolling the sweet fuck out of Matt. Alasdair all misty-eyed when Matt's fucking white girl is wasted and starts rolling out the full broad Scotian like "thats my baby!" And Arthur's facepalming because, good lord, did he not teach the boy anything?

Here’s a picture I took wearing a brand new Brighid’s Cross pendant for the very first time.
I’ve been wanting to have a custom made pendant of Brighid’s Cross for a while, especially as it’s been a few years since I wore any kind of devotional jewelry for her in the past five years or so.
I had this pendant comissioned with a craftsperson that a friend recommended to me back in May.
It feels really good to be wearing something in the way of devotional jewlery for Brighid once more, especially after all these years. It feels right. Wearing this pendant feels right. And she seems to be happy about it and me wearing it as well.
