I have plenty of larger pieces of wool, but sometimes it's really fun to try and squeeze the biggest garment you can out of an unpicked pencil skirt.
The pieces were given to me years ago and were originally navy blue, but I overdyed them with magenta to make them purple. This has been on The Pile for months and I'd really like to finish it before the weather gets warm, it'll go so well with both of the shirts I'm currently working on.

quilt patchwork blocks
Okay, world of quilters / people who like patchwork.
Suggest a quilt pattern to me. Within certain permutations.
My very favorite is the Lemon Star, which is the Lemoyne Star except you cheat by using half square triangles instead of diamonds. But I've done that on a quilt for my sibling AND the wallhanging I'm working on now, so not that one.
I have only the feeblest of applique skills, so not likely to go for major applique. Not interested in wholecloth quilts.
Traditional American patchwork piecing is what floats my quilting interest boat. I haven't done curved work yet. I'm willing to try it as long as it's not TOO complicated. I don't care for the modern stuff where they just sew a bunch of rectangles together. Boring. And anything enthusiastically described as "scrappy!" probably not going to work for me. (I mean. I might use scraps. But not stuff specifically designed to just vomit scraps onto it.) I love designs using half square triangles.
Reblog and suggest a cool patchwork block pattern! Or reblog so that someone else will suggest one.

All the pieces cut out for 25 blocks on this pink and purple ombre quilt. Really excited to see how it turns out once the blocks are ready to be laid out.

Roughly a year and a half - over 800 hexis, using mostly scraps.
I went from knowing nothing about English Paper Piecing to making a coaster and a pillow before I dove headfirst into a quilt (highly recommend). I didn't plan at all (less recommended) and I worked on this in the most chaotic way possible. The only quilt I've actually ever finished (the one in middle school where I hadn't discovered measuring and ended up pin basting with safety pins and just bound it and left pinned and not quilted does NOT count).

Seeking opinions, folks:
Are the background greens, as shown, cohesive enough? Is there a particular thing I should try or change in the pale greens at the bottom? Clearly there’s more piecing to do, but I want to feel a bit more committed before I commit XD

Deciding on two sashing colours in the corner of this little lap quilt is… interesting. FUN! But interesting.

Been feeling a little uncreative the last couple ... years? Feel like staying ahead of covid is sucking up all my creativity. Maybe I'll try recreating this quilt, but at 1/3 the size (so each square finishes at 3" and not 6"), and instead of setting it in empty space, will just do the whole thing inset. It's very much a creature of its time, the beginning of the modern quilting movement. Feels dated to me, now.
FTR the color for the borders was deliberate! It was supposed to remind people of those takeout coffee cups at Greek restaurants.
Based on the 1st c AD mosaic at Fishburne in England (I was a 4th year PhD student in archaeology when I quit, academia so I like making archaeological quilts). Pieced by me, quilted by my friend Liz Haskell.
