Urgent: help needed asap for medication

A very dear friend of mine who is practically my dad is in urgent need of funds for medication. He's an elder queer, in his 40s, who lives in Texas. I've known him for three years now and he's one of my closest friends.

He has schizophrenia and epilepsy, as well as a couple other conditions. He is on disability and lives in low income housing. For obvious reasons, he's unable to work.

A couple months ago, one of his copayments for his life saving medication increased from around $10 to around $200. He can't afford this. He's been rationing food and medication to try to get by, which isn't working. He's hungry and is in danger of being committed due to his mental health. He can't afford that either. He's already sold everything he can and now lives with the bare bones of necessities. He panhandles when the weather permits it.

I send him money when I can, but I earn way below the poverty level and my partner is also on disability. His parents both died long ago, and he doesn't have any other family.

He only can afford half the amount of medicine he needs each month. Every month, he gets worse and worse. It's horrifying to have to watch him deteriote.

This is being posted on 11/18/22. He is in need on a monthly basis, the refill is the first of the month and his rent is due the end of the month. He needs food in between those two dates as well. Anything helps.

Ohhh I have to hear your opinion on brick x jo!

Pretty much canon. They were practically built up as narrative foils to each other. Yin and Yang, if you will.

Jo's perpetual need to be the leader of the group despite not being very good at organising her team, paired with Brick's "need to be dominated" (thanks, Dawn) oftentimes outweighing his own natural leadership skills; Jo's fiercely independent and self-servient mindset contrasting with Brick's "leave no man behind" mentality; Jo's hypermasculinity 'disguising' her hidden wishes to be more feminine, compared to Brick's near constant emasculation and traditionally feminine interests. The list goes on.

Then they had their whole rivalry with the initial team swap, which gave Brick a chance to shine as A Leader instead of Jo's peon, proving himself as at least somewhat equal to her in terms of proficiency and ability. Plus, Brick seems to be one of the few campers Jo actually has some respect for!

Their dynamic was fun when it was allowed to play out, and it was nice to see a tomboy/non-feminine girl be treated with actual decency by the show; I love Eva to pieces, but she's only ever been done dirty by the show. I'd like to say that Brick was also treated well as an 'effeminate' guy, but. Well. He wasn't exactly treated kindly by the writers- I don't think I need to elaborate.

I'm surprised that the show itself didn't even hint at anything romantic between the two (I say 'hint', but Total Drama is never subtle enough for their 'hints' to be anything less than a banner on the screen that says "these two are into each other"), but I guess the narrative was too focused on the inferior Zoke plotline to squeeze in any Jo x Brick crumbs. And also, the show would never have let two GNC characters have a relationship, at least not pre-reboot.

I'd have to re-watch the series to give you a definitive answer but I think that just about sums up my thoughts.

if anyones curious i wrote down all the main branch requirements for all the mammon cards unholy boards and summed up the important stuff (omitting the number of boss fights/battles + satisfying him etc etc)

this tbh was more just out of curiosity (like usual) and i wanted to get a general idea of how many candies i should farm for

ngl i fear for future mammon or really any l-rank cards if theyre just gonna keep getting more and more expensive (like adding pies or tears to the main branch)

im more worried abt the pies tbh cause we dont really have a place to specifically farm for them now that the holy coin gamemode is closed for now (i assume itll only open for angel-related events but idk). sure theyre in shop but im more talking abt how atm you cant choose what pie you want and you just have to hope rng is on your side w the pie boxes in the pancake/pretzel shop which i despise

atp pies feel like an event exclusive item even tho theyre technically not,,, o(-(

like if theres one thing im genuinely disappointed in is that the minhyeok minigame ORIGINALLY was gonna have pies as one of the rewards, which wouldve been great and honestly a huge motivater for me to play that minigame,,, but then that got removed before release so now i barely play it

this just turned into a rant abt pies woops lmao

hmm i wonder what yall's opinion of this is but i'm not entirely sure of how i feel when it comes to gender selected/ gender variable ROs in IF games? like on one hand these games are very much geared towards wish fulfillment and personal fun (a good thing!) so choosing makes that easier, and it also makes it so that more underrepresented dynamics (like an all female RO cast for a lesbian character) are able to be played out, which are all very good.

but on the other hand i feel like it takes the teeth out of some of the character decisions? Adam and Nate wayhavenchronicles being a knight and sailor respectively is all well and fun, but Ava and Nat?? that's crazy. a woman knight and a woman sailor?? there's such an interesting story and implied history that would inform their personalities. Like yes, A is the same character no matter what, but a lot of character information is lost in that changeover (information that was probably unintentional but, yk). A butch knight who lives through 900 years of western history has a very different reasoning for being the way she is than a noble blond man lol.

like both are valid approaches to take, both serve their functions, and in certain settings the gender difference is not going to be an issue, but when it does have a real world historical basis it tends to take me out of it a bit lol. idk!

#also i do appreciate the wc/mb way of choosing a sexuality and then that determines the ro genders rather than manually picking them bc that #always makes me feel kind of icky?? anyways #but i also appreciate the golden rose approach 'here are your cast of characters there are who they are' #which does cut into appreciation if you know you're looking to romance just one gender but it also makes me more #invested in them as actual characters and their sexualities have actual weight. if that makes sense #mostly im just curious but also i have a supernatural pi noir visual novel i would love to make at some point #and the genders of the characters are all gonna be set. #ramblings
