Worldbuilding tidbit: What if, in order to keep better track of and insure they don’t get lost, Piglins tie a bell to the tails of their young. The “shedding of the bell” is an important milestone in a Piglin’s life as it marks the first transition into maturity. (It often coincides with a Piglin’s First Hunt, as having a loud jingling object attached does you no favors when trying to sneak up on prey).
With this in mind: now picture a row of little piglets walking about, rattling their bells in a odd symphony.

Piglins only have 2 pronouns (like he/she/they/etc). 1 set of pronouns is for anything "mortal". Animals, objects, and any person falls under 1 pronoun.
Our SECOND pronoun set is for referring to ANYTHING divine. Any god, holy place, etc is referred to with this pronoun as a sign of respect (sometimes temple workers are referred to with it but many of us feel uncomfortable with that)

For those of you who somehow don't know the story of the upperland piglins, we are refuge-seekers from the great destruction. We migrated to the area that our city was founded on almost 50 years ago. Once the main square was completed about 30 years ago, we are expanding in the caldera to allow for more survivors and maybe people who need a new home.

how ctechno tries to court cdream? Like what methods he uses?
well, he tries a lot of things from a wide variety of cultures because, again, he's not entirely sure what culture dream is from.
first, he tries other nether customs because he may not know what dream is, but he's pretty sure dream grew up with sapnap who was raised by bad... or something.
the thing is, though, techno is trying to show that he's very serious about respecting the merging of their two cultures. so, he decides to add some piglin flair to everything. how does he do that? by making it all a competition. because competitiveness is a love language, especially in piglin culture where by engaging in competition, you're showing that you're on equal footing and will make a good match.
this means that with everything techno tries, dream just assumes it's a part of their rivalry.
"hey dream. I bet I can loot this fortress before you." "okay so we both walk into a fortess, get ourselves withered, and see who cracks first and drinks milk." "we both have to raise and defend these turtle eggs. whoever's turtles are healthiest, wins."
that... doesn't work. dream is really into it, of course, and takes all the opportunities he can get to try and rack up his wins against techno, but he doesn't show signs of taking the courting to the next step.
so, techno is kinda in this limbo where he's engaged to the guy, but he can't seem to figure out what he needs to do to get the guy to actually marry him.
phil is... equally baffled. listen. listen. phil is married to the goddess of death. that is... not a normal relationship, so he doesn't really have a good basis for giving relationship advice. he just thinks dream is testing techno, seeing if he's really the best suited partner, but they can't figure out what dream wants techno to do.
it doesn't help that dream is also oblivious to the more obvious human customs. the dates techno takes them on? dream thinks it's another level of their rivalry. baking date? okay, so they're seeing who can bake the best cake. going for a nice evening stroll around the server? dream will be sure to kill more mobs than techno.
it just... doesn't occur to dream that techno's essentially flirting with him. dream's mind is so jumbled with everything happening on the server that he never even stops to consider it.
but, well, his rivalry with techno is the one thing that hasn't changed during all of this, so he'll keep it for as long as he's able to.

Piglin Holiday ideas!!!
The nether doesn't really have seasons like the overworld. Not lengthening nights or long summer days. But that doesn't mean the nether is stagnant.
The Lava pools have tides! Not controlled by the moon, but by some other slow eternal force. Once a year the tides are low, and they reveal the hidden treasures that were below their burning flow. They reveal gold and ancient ore and pockets of goodies.
Piglins have a big scavenger hunt to find the most goodies. It's great fun! There IS a reward to finding more than any other person, but that's not what most people focus on. Partners work together and the gold they find is believed to tie them together forever. The more rare items you find, the stronger the bond. And partners make extravagent jewelry to gift each, each piece incredibly special. This isn't necessarily romantic, but it is a common time for romantic partners to propose. But its just as common for friends and family members to search for gold together during this celebration.
When the tides begin to rise again, the piglins gather for a great party in their villages. They wear all the pieces they have made with their finest clothes. They give small tokens of affection to those they love, but didn't go scavenging with. They remember the years past and look forward to the year to come.
Another thing that changes in the nether! The Hoglin Migrations!
Not long before the Tide Season, Hoglins will migrate and will group in large numbers. The adults in a piglin village will all work together to take down as many hoglin as possible. The work is spread evenly, and the spoils are given out equally as well.
However, the meat is not for the individual to eat.
This is a holiday of forgiveness. Anyone that you wish to apologize to, for reasons big or small, you bring them the hoglin meat. It is to show that you know you hurt them, and would give even something precious to be forgiven in their eyes. If the person takes it, it means they forgive you. And you share the meal together. If they do not, you leave the meat out on the netherack to rot. To show that the relationship between you has rotted beyond saving. It's not rare for the meat to be refused, but it usually isn't for small things. Sometimes, a piglin KNOWS that they will be refused, but apologies do not require a person's forgiveness to be necessary.
Anyway, piglin holiday ideas!!!
Oh these are so delightful!!!!
If I can add one of my own, since I was inspired by your lava tides idea (which is excellent btw). I headcanon that piglin funeral rites include lowering the body and a few specific worldly possessions of the deceased piglin into the lava. So maybe when the tides are at their highest, a remembrance holiday would take place?
However, this is not a drab or sad affair. Death is viewed very differently in the Nether. Grief is a celebration of life!
So during this holiday, all work is stopped - no more hunting, trading or building - and piglins will instead eat, drink, dance and enjoy themselves. There's also a focus on recounting memories and telling stories about the deceased. At the end of the festivities, the sounder will often drop offerings to their dead loved ones into the lava. Stuff like food or small gold trinkets.
Piglets born on this day are considered blessed and will be named after a recently deceased sounder member with piglins believing the child is looked after by them.

Most of the time Dream does Techno's hair, it mainly consists of ponytails, or braids but he tries.
Tumblr media
And Techno absolutely LOVES it, he finds it very calming whenever Dream just sits down and takes the time to braid his hair, its nice.

Do you think baby Piglins have little toys that resemble the long extinct megafauna of the Nether. Much like how we have dinosaur plushies and other small joys? Creatures long dead and gone, living only in our collective imagination. And in the hand’s of someone playing make believe. Pieces together from what little remains and loved all the same.

Hi! Curious overworld adventure here! I was wondering, how are piglin and non-piglin couples viewed? Are they looked down on? Also, what about piglin hybrids (cross breeds between piglins and a non-piglin)? Hope that isn't too much to answer.
I can answer this one pretty well!!
Most Piglin and Non-Piglin couples are treated well, there is a little hesitation to accept a human (or otherwise overworld born) partner into a village for safety reasons but once the partner proves that they have the best interest of the village in heart they're warmly accepted in and treated like a born member of the village.
Hybrids are also treated pretty normally, they're viewed the same way as any other piglin child and the only difference I can think of would be if something is dangerous for them they'll try to safely include the hybrid child the best they can.

I think one of my absolute most favorite things about minecraft and the minecraft community is the wide variety of lore each person comes up with. Minecraft is a game that is absolutely overflowing with lore possibilities, and reading through posts and fics and just seeing how every person chooses to interpret that and their own personal headcanons for each mob and their possible culture is just so beautiful and I'm so in love with it

i came up with another au idea.
piglin c!tommy.
not hybrid, but full-on piglin.
but that’s not even the funniest part about this whole thing:
this isn’t just like “regular c!tommy but he’s just a piglin” no no no.
it’s basically “c!tubbo, on his way to the smp, took a short trip in the nether and came out with an odd-looking piglin following him and basically just went “new friend! :D””
so c!tubbo shows up to the smp with this golden piglin just trotting to keep up behind him and when they both get there,
dream, very confused: Hey Tubbo, uh, whatcha got there?
tubbo, who’s holding tommy’s hand while tommy just looks Very confused: A new friend! :)
c!dream just sorta lets it happen. because what else can he do, really?
this au is just the plot of the dsmp but if c!tommy was a confused piglin who didn’t really understand how anything worked. in some respects, that makes things hilarious. in others, it could be really angsty (especially considering some worldbuilding headcanons i have for piglins)
i think i’ll continue this with the actual disc wars and early l’manberg in a minute.
