15 questions for 15 mutuals
Thanks for tagging me, @vimpse and @simsdada!
1. are you named after anyone?
Yes-ish? My first name is a feminised form of my father’s name, and also my maternal grandmother's middle name. Sadly, she died long before I was born, when my mother was only three years old, so I’m quite glad that her name lives on with me. My royalist mother also had a thing about a minor English princess, so I have her name as my middle name.
2. when was the last time you cried?
I honestly don’t remember - probably a few months ago. There has to be something very, very wrong for me to cry. It’s something I avoid doing, as I don’t like to lose control of my emotions.
3. do you have kids?
No, as a conscious choice. I’m really not cut out to be a parent, but I’ve never actually wanted to become one anyway, so it’s all worked out fine!
4. do you use sarcasm a lot?
I try not to, as I think it can be cruel, but it depends on the circumstances!
5. what sports do you play/have you played?
Although I didn’t know this until quite recently, I have dyspraxia. So, sport and I have never been on good terms! Yes, I was always that kid - the one who was chosen last for teams at school. I’ve also always despised exercise simply for the sake of it. But, seven years ago I randomly took up Shotokan Karate - my husband had taken it up a couple of years before, and it was the first physical activity that had ever looked like fun to me! This year, I was finally awarded my black belt (1st Dan). Thanks to my dyspraxia, and pesky osteoarthritis, it’s taken me nearly twice as long as anyone else to get to this point, but I absolutely love it - it’s the perfect blend of mental and physical challenge - and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. It’s been fantastic for my balance, coordination, strength, agility, self-confidence and mental health. I’m now working towards being awarded 2nd Dan, in a couple of years hopefully. :)
6. what’s the first thing you notice about other people?
I found out only a few years ago, as an adult, that I’m autistic. But, I think the thing I’ve always picked up on when meeting someone new - even before I was consciously aware of this - is whether they are also possibly neurodivergent, and hence whether we have an immediate connection. I now realise that nearly all my friends have also been neurodivergent in some way (also autistic, ADHD, dyscalculia), and that the friendships naturally sprang from an instinctive understanding, thanks to similarities in our way of perceiving and processing the world.
7. scary movies or happy endings?
Can I say neither? I have a ridiculously overactive imagination, and although I absolutely do not believe in the supernatural, scary films play on my mind literally forever. And I’m simply unmoved by clichéd happy endings. I prefer films that make me think or imagine, and I’m quite partial to ambiguous endings, where I’m left to decide for myself what has actually happened, or what might happen next; ‘Inception’ is one of my favourite films. :)
I also love plain old sci-fi, with any kind of ending!
8. any special talents?
I’m a master at packing stuff into spaces in the most efficient way possible. Not very exciting perhaps, but useful.
I’m also very good at inductive reasoning. (Which is generally what Sherlock Holmes uses, not deduction.)
9. where were you born?
In the UK. Which is sadly just one big embarrassment these days.
10. what are your hobbies?
Ever since I first laid my hands on a computer, my first love has been video gaming. The Sims of course (1 and 2 - couldn’t get into 3 and haven’t bothered with 4), which I always come back to, but also various strategy games, such as the Civilization series. Also, choral/ensemble singing and genealogy. Oh, and my beloved karate of course!
11. do you have any pets?
No, I can barely look after myself, let alone be responsible for another lifeform too! In an ideal world, I’d have guinea pigs (which I had as a child and just adore, as they are the sweetest creatures imaginable), or perhaps rats.
12. how tall are you?
5′ 4.5″
13. fave subject in school?
Biology. I was born to be a scientist, and have always found the phenomenon of life to be endlessly fascinating.
14. dream job?
Once I would have said scientist - which I am now - but interesting though it can be, there’s also a lot of stress. I think that now, I’d rather be a self-employed professional genealogist. I’m considering trying to make the switch.
15. eye colour?
Grey-green. I didn’t used to like the colour, but I’ve grown to appreciate it more now, as it’s a little unusual.
I’m just going to tag a few random people, who I don’t think have played along yet, although my memory is shocking so forgive me if I’m wrong about that! As always, please also feel free to ignore: @tvickiesims, @roguebotanist, @clouseplayssims, @fwaysims, @eulaliasims, @plumbtales, @katatty, @moocha-muses, @esotheria-sims, @mypurpleriver, @balkopat, @sushigal007, @frauhupfner, @pforestsims, @beikonsims.

thank you @emzwolf for tagging me in this. I hope it's okay that I'm responding like a week late lol
were you named/named yourself after anyone?
not my first name, but my middle name is theresa and apparently that's after a character in a film my parents liked. I can't actually remember what the film was called (I've never watched it) but I think it might have been a czech film? and I know the character gets killed off bc that's the first thing I asked my parents when they told me I was named after her!
when was the last time you cried?
either having a breakdown over my work scheduling me for too many overtime hours without even asking me, or that one book I read recently where the ending absolutely wrecked me (both were in like july so I can't remember what was most recent!)
do you have kids?
no but I want to one day!
do you use sarcasm a lot?
i quite like using it but i don't know if i'm that good at it!
what's the first thing you notice about people?
i'm not the most observant, so i guess just whether they seem like someone i could vibe with and get on with, or someone i shouldn't quite trust
what's your eye colour?
brown
any special talents?
i guess i'm quite creative and good at crafty stuff, but I don't know if i'm better than the average person! same with creative writing (though i did get shortlisted for a national creative writing prize once! but by national i mean scotland which isn't exactly a massive country)
scary movies or happy endings?
i guess both! i've got quite into horror movies recently, but i do like knowing that characters are going to be all right too
where were you born?
baden-württemberg, germany - though I moved to the uk when I was like 4 months old. but i spent a gap year living in the city where i was born again after i left school
what are your hobbies?
reading, writing, crafting i guess. i don't have many outdoorsy hobbies - i used to take riding lessons, but i can't afford to anymore
have any pets?
not at the moment. i had guinea-pigs as a kid, and i'd love to adopt some cats as soon as i'm able, but i'm still a student and renting, so it's difficult at the moment
what sport do you play/have you played?
i'm not super sporty - i have really bad hand/eye co-ordination which makes traditional sports quite difficult. like i said i used to ride, and i was into sailing and rowing as a kid too, but that's about it! oh, i also had ballet lessons till i was 10, if that counts
how tall are you?
i'm not actually sure and i'm on a train right now so i can't look it up - sorry!
favourite subject at school?
english I guess. i also really loved home economics, but only when we did cooking (half the time it was just classes on hygiene which was boring!)
dream job?
I really don't know! i guess i'd love to be a writer, at least part time, and then maybe do something else for just a few hours a week that involved seeing people but wasn't too socially draining. maybe something to do with history or children's books
tagging: @goblincoreinfp @freakwiththeknifecollection @faithdeans @lunaroceanic @schuerk-wie-schurke (as always, absolutely no pressure though!)

15 questions, 15 mutuals.
thank you @thelastplantagenet for the tag
1. Are you named after anyone?
Not 'after' anyone exactly, but my first was the name of an old family friend (I never met them) and my middle was the name of a colleague my parents both worked with 🤷‍♂️ I wasn't named to 'honour' them, but my name was borrowed from them.
2. When was the last time you cried?
I think properly cried was last Friday because I had to change what suitcase I was taking on holiday... half-cry was Friday because I got overwhelmed about a change of plan...
3. Do you have kids?
Nope, nope, nope. I cannot look after myself.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Not really - I used to try, but I'm bad of it and also, I take things too seriously and then I get caught up on thinking exactly how my words will be perceived and it's just easier not to
5. What sports do you play/have played?
I used to be really into swimming (several times a week, and teaching kids...) but then I got too ill. I tried to go back two years ago when I was doing better but couldn't do it. Oh, and trampolining - I loved trampolining!
6. What's the first thing you notice about people?
Clothes tbh
7. What's your eye colour?
Greyish-blue
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings. I get bored in movies anyway.
9. Any special talents?
Does having a weirdly good memory for specific details count?
10. Where were you born?
South East of Uk
11. What are your hobbies?
Reading, writing, drawing, but mostly, sitting about on Nameberry all day
12. Do you have any pets?
guinea pigs
13. How tall are you?
5’4
14. Favorite subject in school?
English literature.
15. Dream job?
Not a thing for me really. But if I had to, a little known writer who also has a guinea pig sanctuary and boarding service and once a month, people can pay (a small fee) to come and see all my guinea pigs
I will tag: @sonnet-of-anarchy @breitzbachbea @journal-number-3 @mortalfollies @ktsphere @breadcrumbsandstars @poets-and-bards-beloved
(no pressure to do this)

Unprecedented ~
A bog of filth piled high with coins
A clang of chains twists fear in your loins
A fire burns high as all sit and stare
A rust corroded man tries to tell you it's not there
A ripple of water reflects something not real
A dust covered track boasts of nothing left to kill
A fan of feathers each as blind as the last
A world so corrupted; a world dying fast.
(04/2021)
(digital painting of an apocalyptic/hell-scape version of our current world inspired by the seven deadly sins... as you can probably expect, there is a lottt of symbolism in this piece, which I’ll go more into below, along with some detail shots!)
This piece has kind of been a 6 month long labour of love, starting with a vague idea I had of a piece that is going to reflect the strange and scary times we’ve all lived in over the last year or so, and then slowly begun to take shape into a kinda apocalyptic/hell-scape piece based on the seven deadly sins representing our current world...
(also the poem above is something I wrote too, but couldn’t fit it anywhere in the actual piece itself)
The piece itself took roughly 60 hours of painting over almost an entire month. I originally planned for it to be a big mixed media piece, but instead decided I would try to keep it as purely a painting. Surrealist art was one of my biggest inspirations, purely because I thought the style would fit this piece the best. I also like how as a style it combines things that are familiar with things that are strange, which is exactly what I wanted for this piece!
The piece is split into 3 major sections, and 7 individual sections (to reflect the 7 deadly sins, which I’ve wanted to do my own version of for ages now). I had thought at first I would stick to creating demonic ‘characters’ for each sin, but then found this illustration on Wikipedia depicting the 7 sins as animals which I thought could both be an interesting challenge for me, and would visually be more interesting too!
I also decided pretty early on that I didn’t want any humans actually in the piece, but rather the imprint of humans. Our actions, our feelings, what we leave behind, etc...
First is the section is dedicated to Greed, Gluttony and Lust, known as the ‘lustful appetite’ sins.
Tumblr media
At the top is Greed, which is symbolised by a toad. I wanted this to be representative of capitalism, the toad looming over piles of gold, surrounded by a cardboard box (a not-so-subtle dig at people like Jeff Bezos lol), as it is surrounded by a bubbling dirty bog. The toad is ‘crying’ the same sludge, which I wanted to act as ‘crocodile tears’, showing their falsity. (I feel like it’s also important to note here that in my notes for this part I originally wrote ‘won’t someone think of the economy :(’ lol, which was something I heard a lot of in the news last year...).
Below that, and in direct correlation with Greed, is Gluttony. Gluttony is depicted as a pig, which is why I painted a pig skeleton. This is supposed to represent our overconsumption and over-production, and how that has impacted the planet. Plastic hidden in plain sight, increase of forest fires, etc, all under the ‘watchful’ gaze of mother nature (the trees were inspired by a post I saw about ‘Quaking Aspens’) I wanted the ‘overlord’ of this section to be dead to symbolise how humanity’s gluttony has lead to complete destruction, even in hell itself...
Tumblr media
The final in this section is Lust, represented as a goat. This one is arguably a lot darker than the previous 2, and is reflecting the violence performed against women over the last year (Sarah Everand’s murder in the UK and the 6 Asian women shot in Atlanta, just to name a few, not to mention the various hate-crimes against trans women which have been helped with the rise of transphobic rhetoric). Lust is often depicted as someone attractive trying to lure you to sleeping with them. But I feel like that misinterprets what lust really is. Someone with lust is described as being a ‘slave to the devil’ (hence the chains in my art), and I wanted to showcase lust as a quest for power over someone else’s body, particularly women’s bodies. The eyes in the darkness are representing the fear that so many people feel about going out at night, and the goat being in the light also shows how danger can come at any time of day, in any place. The design of the goat was inspired by this medieval artwork of a seven eyed lamb.
The central section is Irascibility, and includes the sin Wrath.
Tumblr media
Wrath is represented by a Lion. I wanted this section to be dedicated to how racial injustice against black people has been truly highlighted in the last year, particularly in the case of George Floyd’s murder. Angry people are described to being slaves to themselves, a selfishness that is both reflected in wrath and in racism, and is why the lion has it’s paw rested on a ball and chain. I wanted the lion in this section to be a statue, both because of the Edward Colston (a slave owner who lived in Bristol) statue that was pulled down by protestors last year, and also how statues of lions are a significant symbol of Britishness in general (for example, Trafalgar square) and therefore in turn a symbol of the institutional racism that still permeates so much of the UK. This is also reflected in the rust covering the statue and the trees surrounding it, showing how old and well rooted racism is woven into the fabric of our world. The colours surrounding the trees, and the trees themselves, were based on these photographs of Sulphur lakes in Indonesia.
The lightning is a suggestion of change in the air, and a reflection of the Black Lives Matter movement. Although this whole piece is of course a critical look at our current world, I also wanted to have an air of ‘it’s not too late’ to it. That we CAN make this world a better place to live if we’re willing to fight for it!
The final part is the 3 final sins grouped into the ‘corruption of the mind’ section.
Tumblr media
The snake represents Envy, which is also a sin that is associated with vanity, which is what I decided to focus on for this. The snake is completely absorbed in it’s own reflection, very much like narcissus. My idea was the concept of the envy of things that aren’t real, much like how social media has created a world where we strive to be something that we are not, something that we will never be. So to us, the outsider, all we see is an abstract shape of a snake, something that’s intangible. Whereas the snake is so distracted by it that they can’t see the rest of the world. The reflection of the water was based on a photo I took of some reeds in water, which I also thought looked a bit like wires or computer circuit boards.
Tumblr media
Above the snake, and taking advantage of it’s distraction, is Pride. Pride is shown as a peacock, obnoxious in it’s wings covered in glowing eyes. Pride is described as something that ‘blinds’, hence why some of the feather-eyes are closed. The peacock is wrapped in a snare wire and is partially behind bars. This is to depict how pride causes people to play the victim, suggesting their intentions are pure, only to stab you in the back, so to speak... The ideas behind this one are more general and vague than the others, more of a commentary on humanities general hubris rather than any specific event. And perhaps speaking of how if we’re not careful, pride will sneak up on all of us, and will ultimately be our downfall.
Tumblr media
The final section is above Pride and represents Sloth, depicted by a pile of snail shells. I had originally planned for this whole piece to be dedicated to the pandemic, but realised there were a lot of other issues I wanted to talk about aside from that. So Sloth is the dedicated ‘virus section’, representing how slow my country’s government (and many like it) were in bringing in precautions to stop the spread and save lives. Sloth is often described as a failure to love God, negligence at it’s very core. Both Pride and Sloth are partially covered in bars to critique our current justice system, which suffers from being overly prideful and negligent itself...
This piece is in effect my way of trying to deal with a year that has really fucking sucked lol... It includes a lot of bitterness and anger, feelings I think many of my generation will relate to.
But despite this, I don’t think it’s hopeless... I believe in humanity, in the goodness and beauty of it. Perhaps a naïve notion, but one I will cling on. For if we delve into despair, then it will truly be too late...
I hope people like this piece since it took a really long time and effort!
Other inspirations for this piece:
various images & quotes about car crashes, various surrealist artists’ work, Evgeny Sedukhin’s symphony of the 6th blast furnace, paintings by David Mensing, this creepy lad and this lil snake lying in a chalice.

Honestly fallen angels based off of ancient Egyptian mythology and embalming have such great gore horror potential. The predatory animals, the bugs, the mummification process, heck you could even draw inspiration from the Ten Plagues from the Bible. I would also like to see the idea of a world boss fallen angel based on the medieval Iron Maiden, something about that particular torture/execution device just feels like it has a lot of potential for something all bloodied and rotten.
Most fallen angel tribes are too cute or pretty, you could list those green pigs from Angry Birds as a fallen angel and it wouldn’t look out of place. Aizen is only 6’7” and looks like some guy you could beat up in a bar fight, Conchi is literally a little girl, and Spectra has all of these dumb and needlessly edgy skulls all over its outfit, we’re supposed to be scared of these guys? The closest we ever really get to something actually intimidating is the Uke Mochi Enhanced, and even that spends more time looking like a pretty blonde girl in a meat bikini. Same thing goes for Tsuchigumo, but at least Orochi looks kind of disturbing with its corpse-like skin and dull colors.
Food Fantasy’s general appeal is targeted towards older teens and young adults, and they clearly don’t feel shy about getting bloody, so why hold back on the creatures you advertise as being this big scary threat that caused a partial apocalypse? There are plenty of food souls for fanservice if that’s the answer, and even if you wanted more there are still ways to put sexy and grotesque together in a horrifically horny way(ex. Double from Skullgirls).
Prajna, a puppet that could easily be made demonic, looks like he hangs out with Pinocchio on the weekends and Sea Bunny looks like she'd sit at the edge of a crib.
I find Uke Mochi Enhanced creepy, but more gross than anything else. I would feel more concerned about getting drool on me than getting hurt by it. Orochi has a look on it of a face being sliced open despite it being a mask, so I find it decent.
With the iron maiden, Bloody Mary carries one around. Something could easily be done with just that. Blend them together. Have someone crawling out of it. Make it a person with spikes and spines coming out. Even have a human split in half or two stabbed together that attack by impaling you.

#GeorgeOrwell #1984 #animalfarm if you ever get a chance to read 1984, you will see that what is happening today, could lead to total world domination by the wrong people. Animal farm is a book written from the viewpoint of the farm animals, but, again, it predicts a very scary future. As the pigs said at the end of Animal Farm, "all of us are created equal, except that some of us are more equal than others". The pigs had taken over the farm, and were disposing of everyone, one by one. What starts out as a light hearted read about equality from an animals point of view, turns into something very dark indeed. I cried when I read this book, (re Boxer) it's a very very good read. 1984 is a harder book to read, but the message is loud and clear. George Orwell has the ability to carry you into the moment. He makes you imagine the reality so starkly. Both books are well worth a read, I think they are both on YouTube as audiobooks which is fantastic! Let me know what you think. Especially in todays #blm climate, we must remember history. Never wipe out history. Its shameful how UK is losing its historical landmarks and statues because of the slave trade. Of course the slavery would NEVER happen again, but why eliminate the reminders? Makes no sense whatsoever. Ps George Orwell died in 1950. So he had no idea about #BLM (or did he?) Love Wally

Lockdown Diary Part 10
A personal account during the lockdown in the UK due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
23/03/2020 8:30pm Boris Johnson, UK Prime Minister, gives a live address to the nation to, effectively, put the country on lockdown to stem the spread of the deadly coronavirus strain, Covid-19.
Many of us have been self-isolating for days but this latest development within the UK in reaction to the pandemic feels very serious and very scary. I decided to keep a simple diary and where better but online. Day 271: Work was dominated by Qfiniti again, including a meeting with Jon and staff from the States, where I found my self taking control to get the next steps in process (and then, Dave Stewart, the SCCM engineer fucked off and put an OOO message on Teams telling me he’s off until Tuesday (it’s Thursday)...and I am off on Monday!) But, I have to say this project does float my boat. Got a text message and then a call from PCH for another laser eye appt this coming Monday at 12.30pm. I mentioned to the lady that phoned that I will have to square it with work (I won’t, but she doesn’t know that) as I can’t afford to lose my job - it just seems the hospital, while under pressue with the admin and the clinic availability - I get it! - just aren’t seeing the issues for the patients. Plus, Peterborough has been declared a Tier 3 from Sunday under the new lockdown scheme, the highest tier. Great...I really want to travel to a highly infected area! managed to find an online booze shop that does Gordon’s and Famous Grouse and will deliver beforee Chrimbo, so I’ve placed the order for dad and Rita’s gift. I spoke with Dad today, he hasn’t heard about his vaccination yet which is a surprise (he’s in the first draft being over 80)
Day 272: Typing on day 273. Work was that manic shit at the end of the dya when I’ve got time off. I am only off on Moday but still had to tie up loose ends, complictaed further by Jon being off next week and Sueanne off this week and the Qfiniti project! In the evening I only mamaged three beers. I ate too much. Plus my sugars were all over the place and way too high! I ordered a torch a couple of days ago (£17), it arrived today. It takes rechargeable batteries or 3 AAAs. Apparently, to get the best performance (i.e. brightness) you need the rechargeable batteries in it, so i charged ‘em. Fucking hell, I’m glad I did - it’s brighter than the sun. It opens up my late walks in winter, for sure.
Day 273: While it was a very late (but sober) night yesterday (gone 4am before lights out) I was up before midday. Usual walking etc. plus gave the bathroom a clean (albeit with wipes, but I did mop the floor - and used the water to also mop the kitchen). Now I am about to stick a pizza in the oven, plus wedges (to have with microwaveable chip shop curry sauce) and watch This Is 40 which is coincidentally on telly tonight - the coincidence being clips of it are on TikTok a lot right now. I am on my second beer and am going to have a smoke right now as well. Lastly for this entry, I have been using my AudioPro speaker today, it pisses me off it’s not WiFi capable but, thru Bt, it does sound fucking good - revisiting James works very well to demonstrate the speaker’s prowess.
Day 274: I have another Paypal a/c. I have been getting emails to my standard gmail account from Paypal saying they are going to charge me £9 for an inactive account which I have been largely ignoring since my paypal a/c has a specific email address. Anyway, I tried to log in, after a password reset and, hey presto, I do have another one, with £35 in it, having just been fleeced of £9 for the aforementioned inactivity, fuckers. It’s registered with the old Market Place address and phone. When I try to transfer the £35 to my card, it wants to confim it’s me by calling the phone, which I can’t amend. Oh, and you can’t contact Paypal direct. Fuck knows what to do! Other than that, usual Sunday, a tad more relaxed since I have tomorrow off, but not that much now I have an eye appointment in Tier 4 Peterborough (it’s been up’d from tier 3)! Up at 1.30 pm (I watched This is 40 and The Guvners last night with lots of beer), feeling worse for wear but, stair climb and a 6 miler acheived!
Day 275: I was at the hospital for 3 hours. The laser clinic didn’t start until 1.30pm so, why my appointment was at 12.20, not even the consultant could understand. 15 minutes of lasering - horrible but I am used to it. It took so long it pretty much fucked my day off up completely. I got a Christmas card from Karen, in the actual post, so, a mail shot. It’s depressing.
Day 276: Back to work and it’s definitely in wind down mode. I’ve decided to compile a list of things I have done this year. It will be on the postive side, such as all the steps I’ve walked and getting an article published about my photography, but it will also include randon facts like getting bitten by a dig twice and not having a haircut. I’ll get it done so I can post in at new year, hopefully be a little inspiring, a little silly and a lot of showing off!
Day 277: Work, again, was quiet. It’s fucking pissing down now, as I type at 21:50, and has been all day. It’s causing havoc and there’s flooding everywhere. I could walk down St. Peter’s Road tonight ‘cos of it (had to go up New Road, Springfield Road, down Latham Road). Soaked a lunhtime and tonight! With a new variant of Coronavirus, France stopped frieght crossing the border. That’s now been resolved but tyeh back log has/is affecting certain food stocks in the shops, of which, fresh veg might affect me for Christams dinner (I plan to do a chicken breast with stuffing, pigs in blankets, yorkshire pud and shed loads of veg. I’ll nip to Co-Op tomorrow morning and see what’s vaialble. It’s a half day at work ‘cos of Christmas Eve, so I can nip out somewhere in the car if need be, as ong as the flooding has subsided. Or I could just get shitfaced and have burgers and pizza.
Day 278: Christmas Eve. Sueanne let me finish at 11.00am so, very shortly thereafter, off for a walk I went; it turned out to be a stop/start affair - flooding as the Nene had burst its banks, ended up doing more of a circuit round town. Bumped into Andy Smith (and his son) and, after that, Ash and Denise. Ended up doing just under 11.5km in 2 and a half hours.Knackered! As I type, I have a chilli on the stove, beer on the go, all the veg and chicken breast bought with no shortages, as feared, for tomorrow’s lunch and looking forward to eating. getting drunk, smoking, listening to music, watching telly....all over the next two/three days.
Day 279: I don’t even remember going to bed last night. As a direct result I got out of bed at 2.30pm. I couldn’t even be bothered with Christmas dinner, let alone anything else like exercise. I’m just about to have chilli for dinner (it’s 8.10pm). Watch some telly then try an go to sleep before midnight. No booze! I did talk to dad earlier. Day 280: Typing on day 281. A better, more productive day. Up @11.00am exercise and walk as usual, although the walk was a different route due to flooding. In the evening I could hear ‘storm Bella’ raging, so windy! I cooked a christmas dinner of sorts, chicken breast with Thyme, all the veg, roasted spuds and parsnip, stuffing (a first for me, albeit co-op stuffing mix), Yorkshie and pigs in blankets. It was smashing! A few beers and The Hitman’s Bodyguard, alays a fun watch. A better day, as I say, but I am feeling particular deflated this Christmas. Day 281: Typing on day 282. I realised, about mid afternoon, that Monday (tomorrow) is a bank holiday so no work. It was a great realisation but, also, worrying that it dawned on my like I’m an old person! Nevertheless, a nice long walk - bumped into Baz & Kate and had a nice long chat, then El & Camila, Aaron and Eva for another, shorter chat. I also saw Denise & Ash along the way. Fog video called later in the evening for a chat too (he told me how he fell asleep at the dinner table, fuck he makes me laugh - unwittingly - when I need it most!) A regular social fest! A repeat of last night’s dinner and a few beers - it was a good day albeit I am in a proper low ebb.
Day 282: Up at midday after a 4am-er. A very long walk (1.75 hours) and a hodge podge dinner (remaining chilli, roasted spuds and peppers, steamed cauliflower and runner beans, grated cheese) - it’s nearly ready, I’ll type the review tomorrow. I realise that this is the first time in 21 Christmases that I have at least talked to K. Is that connected to my mood slump? I reckon so. So, as that fact dawned on me, I then considered, should it be the case next Christmas, it will not be the first in along time and, as such, more manageable....fuck knows how I manage to accentuate any little positive but, thank goodness I do. Day 283: Work was a sedate affair today, fuck all to do really. Sueanne is now follwing me on Insta...I shall invetsigate on how to exclude posts to individuals, methinks. Tea, last night, was fucking lovely. More of the same tonight-ish - currently I am roasting spuds, peppers, garlic, chillies, tomatoes - it’ll all go with left over pigs-in-blankets (5) and a burger. I’ll have bisto beef with mustard on it. I can’t wait! Day 284: Typing on day 285. That meal was fucking lush! Checked on the car todfay and it would not start. Something is draining the battery so I will have to give it a run every day until I can get Julian to sort it. So, I WhatsApp’d Karen to borrow the portable starter. She dropped it off for me. We had the briefest of chats at the doorstep, first time we’ve spoken in weeks. She mentioned my hair! Day 285: NYE. I have just got back from walking to Cottersock and back. I would not have been able to do so without my new torch! I finished and published my double letter quiz on FB, including to the Virtual Pub group and the Oundle Chatter. It’s had some good feedback, I’m rather proud of it. I am going to make chicken casserole now (with dumplings - a first for me, I even bought some flour), have some beers and get a bit stoned. Before that, I am going to finish off my list of things I’ve done this year, including steps wlaked and hours listening on Spotify. I am quite proud of that list too.
Day 286: I fucked the dumplings up, added too much water, so that didn’t happen but the chicken casserole was good, just about to finish it for tea tonight. I also had pizza last night and went to bed at 5am. I have had a lot of good feedback on my list of 2020 achievements. I proud of it. K sent a happy new WhatsApp last night, around 00.30.
Day 287: No booze last night, so I was up before the alarm today (about 10.00am) Two walks, one on my own, another with Fog with a couple of beers. I fucking loved it! Watching datrts (World champs semi finals - been texting Dan while the first one has been on). Going to watch The Aviator later...I’ve not seen it before which surprises me. Why it surprises me I do not know, since I know I haven’t seen it. How the fuck can I be surprised by a fact I’m completely aware of? Day 288: I didn’t watch The Aviator ‘cos Logan Luck was on at 11:55pm on ITV4. Great fildm...I can’t believe that I very nearly paid for it (rent from Sky or Amazon). A late one last night and quite pissed. Thinking about it, having afew beers with Fog in the afternoon made it quite a long sesh for me! Up at just gone midday today, nice long walk (Cotterstock) which was mde long by a painful right ankle - I must have turned or twiested slightly sometime. Still, it survived. Back to work tomorrow - Chrimbo and New Year all done and dusted for the 55th time in my life!
Day 289: First day back at work of 2021. Boris announces another full lockdown in England (there’s a new strain of Covid19 which is seeing huge numbers of infections every day, over 50,000 per day).
Day 290: Something is up with my right foot, the little toe pad. It’s bloody sore. If it gets any worse it’ll affect my walking and exercise. I phoned Anne Bennison to talk about it, she just wants me to go and see her which i donlt want to do if poss, pandemic and all that.
Day 291: Wearing my sandals instead of the M&S slippers and my foot/toepad is already feeling bteer. However, I did inspect my Merrell boots, just in case, and the sole on te right is really worn down, in just three months. I have sent a WhatsApp to CotswoldOutdoors, where I got them from....let’s see what they say! It’s all kicking off i  the US - pro Trump protestors have storm the Capitol Building, where congrees was being held. Only in ‘Merica.
Day 292: Busy at work with rolling out Qfiniti - all that project work was pretty much for fuck all since the SCCM package has to hand held. It’s feckin’ freezing today, below freezing, slippy af on my walks. I have been shopping tonight, £106 in Corby Tesco. That does include 8 cans of sapporo.
Day 293: The fracas at Capitol Hill on Wednesday left 5 dead, it looks like Trump will be impeached. He’s already said he’ll not attend Biden’s inauguration. In a fucking world gone mad, it’s another level of madness. It’s really cold -3℃ tonight, more of the same tomorrow. Makes for brisk walks. I’ve just had chicken balti pie and chips for tea. It was so nice that I burnt the roof of my fucking gob. I’m on the Sapporo and about to have a smoke then watch Jack Reacher. I’ve (kinda) earnt after the first 5 day week for a while.
Day 294: Well, last night saw another late one...5am by the time I :went to sleep. Up at 2pm today with no instention of any exercise or walking or housework or fuck all, really. But, I did my exercises and a 9 mile walk. While I walked I came across Banners, quick 15 min chat and listed to Stage by David Bowie. He’s all over the radio right now as it’s his death’s anniversary tomorrow and his birthday yesterday. It’s a fucking good live album. A few beers tonight, eating trash, watching FA Cup highlights then End of Watch later.  Posh played today (first time in a while due to Covid infections) drew away to (shitty) Lincoln 1-1. Good point as Posh were down to ten men after 67 mins for a second yellow for handball in the area. Lincoln missed the pen. Fucking funny. Chorley, the non leaguers who knocked Posh out in round 2 of the FA Cup, beat Derby in round 3 today (albeit derby fielded an academy side of 11 first timers due to Covid ) - a great day for them!
Day 295: Up at 2pm swearing blind I’d not walk or exercise (again!) but, of course I did. I’ve done over 25 miles this w/e! End of Watch was brilliant last night. Well worth a rewatch, so emotional. I am making butter chicken as I type. I’ve added extra onion, garlic and, of course, chillies. It’s the spiciest butter chicken I have ever tasted!
Day 296: One of those frustrating days at work when no problem of request I try to resolve goes without a hitch. After a 7km walk in the evening, took the car for a spin and cleaned the bathroom. Fucking knackered. It’s 11:30pm and I’m in bed typing this on the iPad! despite getting up so late, I feel knackered. 11pm bedtime for me, I reckon.
Day 297: Fucking busy at work, the States rolled out a new Okta trust policy and it caused mayhem. Meant my evening walk didn’t start ‘til gone 6pm. When I got back, clened the hall and stairs, made chilli (which I am about to have for tea (gone 10.15pm!) and showered. I’m, again, fucking knackered! Posh played Portsmouth in the EFL Trophy 3rd round at home. Won 5-1. Nice.
Day 298: Had an electrician rouind for the EICR cetrt. He was here until 2pm and it was a pain in the arse, having to work upstairs plus, with having to cut the electricity, all the smart devices lost their settings. And it was freezing up there.
Day 299: Work was impossibly infuriating. Not one pc remote session went to plan! It was pissing down a lunchtime during my walk but, I have to say, the cheap TargetDry coat copes fine in heavy rain for short periods. Everywhere is flooding again even though the rain turned to sleet. By my evening walk, it was dry but bloody cold. Then, when I got in I cleaned the kitchen and mopped the floor and the bathroom’s as well. I fucking done in! Chatted to dad today - same as ever!
Day 300: What a fucking work at week! I am so glad it’s Friday. To celebrate, I ordered new walking boots: Scarpas £121!

7 Scariest Times The Paranormal Was Caught On Camera That You NEED To See, And The Real Stories Behind Them
What hasn’t been caught on camera?
There’s the 'accidental’ sextapes which are now a confirmed marketing technique, there’s the montages of racial slurs spewed by streamers looking to get, ahem, relevant, and then there’s the clips of customers telling shopping assistants that yes, having to wear a mask is in fact an infringement on their human rights.
(It’s not f*cking hard. Wear a damn mask.)
But everything isn’t just online.
Oh no.
It’s online and filmed in full HD.
And it’s not only the living that are having their most embarrassing moments projected to the world in Ultra-4K. The dead have also been making their name in viral videos.
Tumblr media
In fact, it’s the desire to capture the paranormal on camera which has been used by influencer-wannabes and paranormal investigators to secure views and get people talking. But as a result of this, there’s a vast range of clips, pics, and tv shows that claim to capture evidence of the paranormal. And if that wasn’t enough, most of these are faked or fluffed to encourage viewers to fall for the alleged evidence of the afterlife.
But there are some which can’t be explained.
There are some which show no scars of ‘shopped shadows and ghostly figures.
There are some which fit the local legends and complete the paranormal puzzle of the location.
I’ve sifted through YouTube, and I’ve scoured the web for real footage of the supernatural. Now it’s time for you to get traumatised.
#1 - A late-night visitor to The Shaws Bay Hotel wanders around the bar, Australia
In this clip - taken at 1am in August 2015 - we see a white glowing mist move around the tables in full view of the CCTV camera. It keeps its peculiar form in the shape of an orb or a round shadow for a couple seconds, and appears to walk between the tables like a customer before quickly flying off camera.
Check out the video here.
Surely the glowing mist could just be a small bug buzzing across the camera? Or maybe a spec of dust floating in the thick air of the bar?
The thing is, this mist-figure set off the motion sensor security camera, prompting it to record. A moving bug wouldn’t be enough to cause it to start filming.
And if that wasn’t worrying enough, this potential paranormal evidence fits the local legends all too well. This is believed to be the ghost of ‘Little Sarah’, a 7 month old that died in the neighbouring Fenwick House in 1887. She was actually the daughter of the captain - Captain Fenwick - who built the house.
Locals are well versed in her hauntings:
'As a person who has lived in the old house, let me just say it is a very spiritually active house and area’
They typically cite strange noises and objects moving by themselves as the most common activity, but alarms being set off and doors opening are oft mention, too, matching the video in question. She is also known to wander around houses and buildings nearby, and clearly chose the local pub to explore that evening.
Tumblr media
#2 - One of the black-eyed children of Cannock Chase wanders in the woods, UK
Black-eyed children are the latest urban legend trend, with creepy kids now dominating discussions of the paranormal. And this video clip is just one more scrap of evidence to suggest that maybe, just maybe, they are real.
You can see the evidence for yourself here.
Filmed by paranormal investigator Lee Brickley (okay, right, it might not have been filmed by him, there is some confusion over who filmed the video or who’s investigation it was in my research), he claims he was filming the notoriously haunted Cannock Chase location when he saw the young girl with pale skin and ‘coal-black’ eyes.
He claimed the child was roughly a metre in height and her head was tilted to one side as if she had been hung or her neck had been snapped (either way it ain’t good). For five minutes the young girl stared at them with her deep, dark eyes, until she sprinted back into the dense trees.
The thing is, this is not the only sighting of black-eyed children in Cannock Chase. As far back as 1982 sightings have been recorded. And all of the sightings - whether the children scream for help, run for the hills, or stare into the darkness - match other claims of supernatural activity local to the area.
The pig-man of Cannock Chase also haunts the location, and is probably presumed to be an evil entity similar to that of black-eyed children. These black-eyed children are believed to be either aliens, vampires, or ghosts.
But they are still largely considered to be simply an urban legend.
The haunted nature of the woods is only furthered by its bloody past: in the 1960s, 3 young girls went missing which were eventually traced back to Raymond Leslie Morris. Could these black-eyed children be the victims of his crimes?
Tumblr media
#3 - Antiques move by themselves in Barnsley Antiques Centre, UK
Thanks to the Annabelle movies, haunted objects - whether in creepy-doll format or another vintage style - are the latest trend in terror. And it's for that reason that video clips like this are quite so scary.
In this video we see CCTV footage of a dark shadow next to a shelf. It then gently sways and a huge, heavy lamp comes crashing down from the shelf.
See for yourself.
Okay, fine, it’s a small shadow, and yeah only a few objects fall down. But according to the owner and visitors to the centre, it could be one of the spirits that haunts the location. So much so, that the centre actually has a YouTube channel devoted to their haunting which you can find here.
In 2016 the owner of the Barnsley Antiques Centre claimed he had experienced over 50 occurrences of peculiar activity alone. From the employees that work there to those looking to bag a bargain, this is not the first time something supernatural has been seen.
Fact is, if you collect enough old and potentially haunted objects under one roof, the unexplained is bound to occur. You can read more about haunted or cursed objects right here.
#4 - A glowing light and distinct orb is seen flying over a crib, UK
In this clip we open to a baby’s cot and 8 week old infant that is fast asleep. A baby monitor records a light floating above the cot. We also see the father of the child lean over the child, and a distinctive ghostly glowing orb shake and sway next to the child.
Check out the video.
Orbs are considered one of the most popular signs of paranormal activity that can be captured on camera. But what I want to focus on here is that it is hovering just about the baby.
Children are known for their ability to see and communicate with the paranormal far more than adults. Of course, this could just be an ‘imaginary friend’ or something simply from a daydream or a nightmare; but it's when children mention people that actually did exist that concerns arise.
The connection between children and spirits might just explain why this paranormal phenomenon lingered so closely to the infant. Could this have been a protective spirit, perhaps?
Tumblr media
#5 - A haunted calculator is used to communicate with the dead, USA
It's a rule of thumb amongst paranormal enthusiasts:
You never, not ever, attempt to communicate with spirits.
Calculators controlled by spirits come under this umbrella of communication - even if it does sound like it belongs in a parody film.
What do you think?
There are enough videos on the web showcasing the uses of a ouija board, whether they’re real or not. But according to some psychic mediums, ghosts can use any conduit they want to communicate with us. Spirits on the other hand typically only communicate with us through mediums.
In fact, most paranormal investigators often resort to asking ghosts questions and waiting for a visible or audible response, such as a knocking sound. That’s why this video is quite so concerning.
Not only is the calculator old and seemingly unhackable to those ‘using’ it, by communicating with the ghost or spirit, they are inviting the presence to latch onto the location or the people communicating with it, allowing it to feed off their energy.
If this is an evil or negative spirit, this could be the start of a haunting.
Tumblr media
#6 - The ghost of an RAF soldier is filmed walking along a busy road, UK
These days, hitchhikers are rarely picked up by passing cars. If anything says potential murderer, it’s that. But this video doesn’t catch a killer - it shows someone who has already been killed.
This clip shows a man clad in khaki and dark brown walking around a road near Belsay who is trying to flag down cars driving past. He appears to be an RAF soldier, but he actually served a couple decades ago. According to local history, this could be the spirit of a soldier that crash landed during the Second World War.
*insert Donald Trump meme about basic f*cking history*
What’s your verdict?
In October 1943, a spitfire spun into the ground at Middlepart Farm. Could this be the ghost of a soldier walking free from the wreck?
#7 - The spirits of soldiers are recorded at Gettysburg, USA
In this video we see small lights and shadowy figures move along a small leafy hill in Gettysburg, a national military park. And as a result of its history, this clip is believed to capture the spirits of soldiers that were caught up in the 3 day battle in Pennsylvania.
Check out the video here.
Thanks to its bloody history - from which approximately 7,800 soldiers died - claims that there is paranormal activity are easy to make. But the location itself has garnered a reputation for supernatural occurrences.
Books, documentaries, EVPs, videos, and pictures all claim to connect and reveal the spooky truth of the location. This video only fits too well.
Numerous spots within Gettysburg have been considered specifically haunted, including the local college, an orphanage, and the home of the only civilian that was killed during the battle. Soldiers tend to lead the haunting, but a ghost cat and ghost children are also spotted at a local inn.
The high emotional atmosphere and bloody violence that took place here - along with the severe volume of deaths - suggests that this short clip showcases just a few of the spirits that still linger here.
Tumblr media
As video becomes the mainstream format for communication - whether you’re aiming to become the next big TikTok star or are just sending a meme to a mate - one thing is clear:
Why not use it to prove that the afterlife exists?

What You Should Know About Papua New Guinea Evisa and Why
https://es.ivisa.com/papua-new-guinea-e-visa
It becomes humorous quickly.  Guineas just add one more funny situation to watch while you're out on a homestead.  Furthermore, be certain to don't get bitten yourself.
As stated earlier, guineas are not so domesticated birds.  Another important matter to note is that guinea pigs will need to get fed far more frequently than other animals.  They are a wonderful pet to keep and it is very beneficial for you to keep an animal within the home.
There are only 40 countries they will need to turn in an application for a visa beforehand.  It is imperative to obey the visa requirements for the Thai eVOA for Papua New Guineans as a way to apply and successfully acquire the visa.  UK passport is just one of the strongest passports regarding travelling.
Applicants wishing to stay for at least 30 days may apply for a very long term visa, allowing them to remain in the nation for as much as 60 days. Second, if your visa is refused, your whole money 35 USD is going to be full refunded.  Extensions cannot be granted while someone is outside the nation.
Guinea isn't rich in African huge game.  Sooner or later, many children are most likely to demonstrate an interest in wanting to maintain a hamster in their room.  First water given keets on arrival ought to be warm to protect against chilling.
Papua New Guinea Evisa and Papua New Guinea Evisa - The Perfect Combination You should also think about checking with your transport provider or travel company to be sure your passport and other travel documents fulfill their requirements.  You may be asked to supply additional supporting documents based on the kind of visa you apply.  Guinea's underdeveloped financial sector continues to supply an extremely limited scope of services.
Papua New Guinea Evisa Ideas In the cage you'll need to have bed shavings made from recycled paper and apply 2-3 inches to the base of the cage.  It's nothing for our guinea fowl to fly in addition to our home.  To maintain a guinea piggie you will require a cage or hutch.
In such situations, new wellness and character checks will be deemed necessary.  The eVisa process is an internet approach to applying for visas from any place in the world.  Children under 18 decades of age should comply with exactly the same visa requirements as adults.
The Essentials of Papua New Guinea Evisa You Will be Able to Benefit From Beginning Right Away Animals usually weigh a good deal less, so a much smaller quantity of poison could turn into an issue.  If you're still in doubt, have a look at this article about the safe African countries to go to.  Each sound has a different meaning, which will let you get to learn your pets and decipher the things that they want.
Force-feeding ought to be done very carefully with the support of a clean syringe.  This article gives some guidelines for what guinea supplies are necessary.  Guineas are also quite dominant.
Papua New Guineans must get a visa to enter Thailand.  Your house may be full of guests and holiday festivities.  In fact, it is a few points stronger than Australia.
Papua New Guinea Evisa - Dead or Alive? What's more, it's very unsafe to permit the pig sleep beside you in your bed.  You could be washing the ground and turn to answer the telephone.  The vehicle ride was a bit scary.
Thus, even if all of the food has disappeared, the pig may not have eaten it all.  If you discover that your pig won't eat properly, it is possible to quickly try out changing their diet.  Though it used to be acceptable that you keep guinea pigs outdoors it's now encouraged they remain indoors as a result of interaction with the family members and also weather difficulties.
| Guinea isn't rich in African huge game.  Sooner or later, many children are most likely to demonstrate an interest in wanting to maintain a hamster in their room.  First water given keets on arrival ought to be warm to protect against chilling.
Whichever term you want, you should finally have a clearer idea of where this gorgeous animal got its name. If your house is free of these sorts of threats, then a lid isn't needed.  Don't use a mobile phone or text whilst driving (illegal in many countries).
Where to Find Papua New Guinea Evisa Guineas aren't the same.  It's nothing for our guinea fowl to fly in addition to our home.  So, when you find that two pigs aren't getting along, what you ought to do is put them both in various cages or put in a wall in the exact cage between them both.
Make certain you get the most suitable visa for your travel that's valid for the purpose and length of your stay.  Before traveling to the destination country, you would want to visit the embassy and submit an application for a visa.  There are plenty of travel companies and internet visa websites can arrange that sort of visa approval letter, you can ask for through them or request online through us.

New posts won't be retrieved.  The city can be found on the Ebrie Lagoon.  UK citizens are most likely among the most well-travelled people I know.
You should also think about checking with your transport provider or travel company to be sure your passport and other travel documents fulfill their requirements.  You may be asked to supply additional supporting documents based on the kind of visa you apply.  Food bowls that are made from a heavy material like metal or ceramic are the ideal option.
The Do's and Don'ts of Papua New Guinea Evisa However, I mean they aren't even remotely the same.  Guineas just add one more funny situation to watch while you're out on a homestead.   Furthermore, be certain to don't get bitten yourself.
Whichever fruit you're likely to feed your pigs, be sure you cut them up into pieces that is easily digested by the pigs.  This second type of feces is a truly concentrated does of nutritional elements that the guinea pig needs to remain healthy.  It will make them get eaten by predators.
Force-feeding ought to be done very carefully with the support of a clean syringe.  This article gives some guidelines for what guinea supplies are necessary.  Guineas are also quite dominant.
Make certain that you have liability insurance.  Also be sure you're ready to physically look after it or find it a new house if your son or daughter looses interest within it.  What to do if you see a weight loss.

There are a number of different guinea pig snuggies and fabric holders available to provide your pig some excess luxury.  The feed needs to be mash or crumbles, pelleted feed isn't encouraged.  The very first step is going to be to design the cage.
Hopefully, you'll never need to deal with mange mites.  Unique forms of small animals shouldn't be housed together.  The habitat should not be in direct sunlight or inside a drafty location.

Let the year ahead be the one where all your dreams come true and your wishes be granted. 🖤 @hwlandhqgossip

001. What is your proudest accomplishment of this year?
There’s so many that’s happened throughout the year, especially including my album, but most of all, I think it’s best to face the hardest parts of your year so you can take a step back and admire how you overcame them, and I feel as though I found the ability to handle it all, which makes me rather proud of myself given the circumstances. There’s still a scary amount of bad in the world, but I’d like to think I was able to bring some good to a lot of people with my own strength, and hopefully they all found their own.
002. What is the biggest life lesson you learned this year?
It’s something I’ve always known, but I feel as though this year truly made me appreciate the process of living. That lesson of it being that each diamond is created under extreme pressure, and so when I find myself stressed and entirely overwhelmed through a situation, I know that I can trust the process that something good is going to come out of that. If a diamond can do it, so can I.
003. What is one relationship (can be friendship) that has helped you survive this year?
I don’t know what I would do without, Bella. She’s such a blessing that I’ve been spending so much time with, and I’m going to miss her so bad when I’m across the pond, but even if I have to buy the tickets myself, I know I’ll need to get her ass over there with me for our rightful visitations. Bella’s the type of person that could pull me out of a bad mood within seconds, and all I can hope for is to be the same for her. She’s made 2018 exciting at every turn, and there’s so much in store for our friendship, I’m calling it now. @b-hxdid
004. Who or what do you need to let go of in order to make next year even better than this year?
My anxiety. If I could let that go, I know 2019 could be the best year of my life. I’ve had it consume me plenty this year, stayed days to myself and not talk to anybody, a fear eating away inside. And you know what? I regret feeling it every time. I know there’s no reason to feel it. I know it’s a mentality that I’m harboring, one that I know I can expel from my life if I put my mind to it. It creates an insecurity that I won’t allow to hold me back any longer.
005. What did you do this year that you’ve never done before?
I got myself a pig! Not as inspirational as I should probably mention, but I did get one, and my god, it’s definitely a job to handle, but she’s such a light to my life. Shout out to my baby, Piggy Smalls.
006. What are three resolutions or goals you want to make happen next year?
To just stay happy, to spread that happiness to others, and to keep my head up, brush off my shoulders, and let everything flow like water off a duck’s back. Here’s to happiness and to nobody keeping me away from that.
007. Where did most of your money go this year?
I might have gotten carried away with the Christmas presents this year, I’m not gonna lie, but I couldn’t stop myself. They all deserved what they got, and hopefully next year I’ll get to bond with even more people so they all get a piece of my heart as well. And wallet, but I think heart sounds sweeter.
008. What song will always remind you of this year?
Is it weird to shout out my own song? Because Thank You, Next isn’t just about the relationships. I didn’t write it just so I can call out what I’ve been through with the guys I’ve mentioned, or make a diss, and plenty of people already know that. It’s a constant reminder to myself that all I need is myself to get through this crazy place we call earth. It reminds me that I can move on from anything, that I don’t have to hold anything in or bottle it up, that I can look forward and say next to a new situation. A better situation. Nothing can hold me back now from being the person I want to be, and do what I want to do, and that song was written to express that, so I find it to be the perfect fit for 2018.
009. How will you be spending the last day of this year?
Packing up! Aside from celebrating, of course, I’ve still got a big move to make on my hands, and 2019 is the year of the UK for me, and I’ve never been more ready.
010. Who is the best new person you’ve met this year?
Lily James has forever changed my life for the best because she is the best. No, she’s the greatest. Words don’t even begin to describe what Lily means to me, and it’s an absolute honor to have her in my life, to get to spend more time with her. Have you ever met someone that could make you smile just from seeing them smile? Or someone that their happiness radiates so hard onto your life that you can’t feel anything but happy when you’re around them? That’s how Lily makes me feel, and she’s someone that I’m most ready to spend the next year with and learn more about. @lllyjames

001. What relationship (can be friendship) has been the most fun to write for your muse/s this year?
I’ve gotten so into Ariana and Grant’s friendship to the point that I made a manip for them a month before I could even post it, like what even.. And it’s all based off the love of sushi together and plotting out the families they’ll each have. I know the end of this year has been stressful in real life that I haven’t gotten to devote as much time as I want, but best believe that I want more of them in 2019. <3 @theflashgrant Also, I love you, Sam. I hope you’re not alarmed by the time this is posted, I have tomorrow off. x
002. In what ways do you connect to your muse/s?
I like to think that I connect to how happy Ariana feels most of the time.. Well, she’s constantly been happy, and ever since I’ve come here, I feel like I’ve had a brighter look on the year compared to the rest, and her time she’s had here has affected my own time and made it even better.
003. What’s your favorite category to write for your muse/s? (angst, fluff, smut, etc.)
Well, I haven’t written smut on Ariana yet, but I’m sure that’ll be a wonderful time when we get down to it with her and whoever the lucky boy/girl she’s with is, but so far, these fluffy, cute ass friendships she’s making is hands down the best for me.
004. If you could give your muse/s one gift, what would you give them?
I’d have to give my muse more time, honestly. They deserve it. I shouldn’t let work consume my life, when my passion is RP in the first place. RP is my escape, and I’m here along with many talented people that I want to share my muse with, so just devoting more to them is the most I could do to benefit them, honestly.
005. What was your favorite event/moment/memory in HollywoodlandHQ this year?
Appreciation week! I was honestly only here for like.. two to three weeks, I think? And I like to think I went in on trying to express how appreciative I was to be here, and I still am. I always will be! You guys are the best, and it’s an honor to spend time with you. It’s an honor to be in a group ran by such talented and trusted admins and beautiful players across the world. I hope you all know just how much I love you.
006. What muse/s have you enjoyed most seeing on this dash this year?
I really love seeing everybody on the dash, but Charlie’s and Becca’s ( @loutommo-x , @teylcrswift ) always bring a smile to my face just from them posting a queue even, I love them both so much, I love their ship so much, and I hope to keep building bonds with them IC and OOC!
007. What is your favorite thing your muse/s have done this year in the group? (can be in the real world or what you made up)
In real life, I’d say that Ariana’s album and music videos had to be so exciting for her, and I hope it was as thrilling for her as it was for me, but with my Ari in this beautiful world of HWland, I’d say her trip to London was exciting. I mean, she does want to move there now so it has to count for something.
008. What would you like to see in HollywoodlandHQ in 2019?
I think some tasks could be a lot of fun! Like this alone has brought a lot of focus on my character and I feel like when people bond with their muse enough to answer questions like these, they’re more likely to keep wanting to come back, and I love that! I love feeling more connected to Ariana, it fuels my need to develop her, and even simple tasks like a mixtape or moodboard could open up a path in my opinion.
009. What is a plot you would love to do with your muse/s?
I’d love to add some more angst into Ariana’s story line.. I’ve got a plot page, ( don’t look at it, that shit is totally empty ), but I’d love to fill it up with all kinds of stories to play along with, and something that’s both rip and mend my heart could be really fun! You know.. Stuff that people like @ohlizzo and @hqcentineo do that both kill me and make me feel alive. :) That smile is exactly how you think it is.
010. Tag somebody in the RP and say something nice about them. It’s the season of giving.
@hcurly you already know I couldn’t go without saying something about you. I love you to the moon and back, and that trip ten times over. You make every day feel like a blessing for me, and I consider myself the luckiest person to not only know of you, but to personally get to know you and spend time writing with your Harry. The best one, hands down, that I’ve ever come across, and I know I can’t live without you now. I just can’t put it into proper words what you and Harry mean to me now, and I know nothing could ever change that. <3
And how could I do a post like this and not mentioned @itstbellisario. You are so precious as a player and your characters are the same way, I adore you and I love how sweet you’ve been from the very get. I’m shit at my replies, but I hope you know I love every one of them that I have with you, and I’ll forever appreciate you being here in this RP with me. Troian and Haley forever belong in my Hall of Fame.
To finish this off, though, I want to dedicate the best time of my life this year to the wonderful admins that run this place, that bust their ass off to make it the best RP I’ve ever been in. It’s been exactly 2 months of me being here, only 1/6th of the entire year, but I couldn’t have had a better ending note for it if it weren’t for you all! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I could cry tears of gratitude for you, for this RP. Some people may think it’s just some website, but it saves lives and you’re all to thank for that. I love you. <3

Blue Boulders Problem 1: More rock climbing routes via neural network
The other day I discovered that neural networks can learn to name rock climbing routes, when I trained one to generate new names for routes in Boulder and Joshua Tree. This week, I learned that they can name rock climbing routes in several languages at once.
UK Climbing saw these results and, to help train an even more capable neural network, sent me their entire database - all 427,000 names. These were the names of climbing routes from all around the world, in dozens of languages, names from the traditional (Muscle Crack, The Gizzard, Problem 21) to the more fanciful (Gandalf's Groove Direct, Owl and Primroses).
First, for the cleanest dataset possible, I extracted the countries that have mostly english-language route names (about 155k names once I removed duplicates and numbered routes), and the neural net quickly learned to produce one plausible route after another. You might be able to slip this into a casual account of your last climbing trip, and have others nod in vague recognition. “Ah, yes, the Folly Cloud. Climbed that one last week before breakfast.”
Tumblr media
The Stuff Rocket Sheep Ramp of Lies Strangershine Candy Storm The Dog Sand Holy Mess Left Hand Monster The Scratching One The Angel's Crack Suckstone Gully The Folly Cloud Burning Doll Silver Milk The Cat Bear Block of Fred The Limber Element's Chimney The Space Special Bear Box Smashworm The Peacher The Sun Mouse The Bobble Block The Rib (Stinkley) Cry Problem 15 Scary Boulder Start Solo Gallow Wall (STEXXY The Sole and Elephant Crag and Be Bloody Midge Face Seven Belly Wine for the Great Free Man
However, I'm happy to report that some of the names were indeed even weirder than your typical route name.
You're Not Andrew Master In Your Tea Bean on the Pocket Seven Dry Have Ship Mantlet Butt's Locket No Rocks Egg In Arms if the Lords Parking Store Substance Over a Wall No Mover The Very Seven Steps Robin Time and The Sheep Captain Purple and Darkness The Sun Tin's Not Your Winds
Next, I trained the neural net on the entire database, just to see what it would make of the non-English names. It definitely struggled more this time - it reported much lower confidence in its results. But it did manage to become multilingual, generating names that were identifiably French, Spanish, or German (these were the most common languages other than English in the dataset, so these were mostly what it learned). Even if many of them didn't make much sense.
La Grimper - French: The climb Cascade de l'ange - French: Cascade of the angels De l'angle de la surplomb - French: From the angle of the overhang Steines Schwein - German: Stone’s pig Sin Homble - Spanish: Without Homble El Pollute - Spanish: The Pollute Rapute de la vine - Romanian: Rapping of the coming Danse ton de Barre - French: Dance tone of bar
Sometimes it did end up mixing up the languages, although not as often as I had expected. Maybe it was doing it much more with languages I was less familiar with, and I couldn't tell.
El Pantes du Petit La Desire del pierra Le Chins de Constant (Standing Pub) El Lope du Pante Sans Inside Droit Via de la finger Les l'Appolena Placa de Carpet The Schlang
Its brainpower was spread a bit thin, trying to remember rules for generating multiple languages at once. Unlike human brains, it definitely wasn't built for compartmentalizing multiple languages. This struggle had an effect on the quality of its English names, which actually I rather like.
Tumblr media
Boulder 1, Problem the Gorge Very Up Fred birthday Red 1 Blue Boulders Problem 1 No we and Cheese The Spooning Cat of the Shallow Serpent Mars End Cow Escapes of the Beach Brother The Corner Stand of The Little Heart
There’s a whole category of names that I ended up not including in this blog post, although if you’re familiar with climbing route names you’ll recognize these as totally in the spirit of the originals. You can read them at UK Climbing, whose audience does not include small children, or become a supporter of AI Weirdness to read them as bonus content.
