Do you think Enjolras is any good at driving a carriage or other canon-era modes of Transport :D
To be perfectly honest I think he's never driven a carriage before. I think he is somewhat wary of horses. He's not scared he just doesn't trust them. Combeferre had to teach him how to take the tram. Personally I think E hitches a ride on Courfeyrac's carriage most of the time.

Far would like to wish you all a miserable Barricade Day 2022. ;) I had a bunch of half-baked ideas for this year, but then @pilferingapples went and reblogged this post by @swutol-sang-scopes that translated one of the songs from the Argot chapter (thank you!) -- and then of course this was what my brain latched on to and insisted it would make excellent text for a comic. [Pilferingapples, I hold you responsible. Yet again!] Regarding the last panel: if it seems suspiciously familiar, it’s because I’ve always wanted to redraw the last panel from my Orestes Fasting, Pylades Drunk comic from Way Back When... just with even more drama than it already had. I just really like this perspective ok, and it seemed like a fitting end to this comic. I am not sorry about the context of “meat” in Page 3. (Actually, I’m cheerfully unrepentant about any of this. I don’t know how you could possibly expect differently). Also, because I know that at least one person is going to comment on this (you know who you are): I know I said this comic wasn’t about Bahorel, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to die in it either. BECAUSE. -- Is anyone still even keeping score of Bahorel vs Combeferre? ;) [I will also take any and every opportunity to give as many of Feuilly’s Six cameo appearances in my comics as I can manage.]

Okay we have to pledge that if one of us gets our hands on the original reel for Cutya: The Katya Cut made from the Goncharov deleted scenes by a rogue intern and passed around underground film circles, that person HAS to digitize it.

@pilferingapples it is more egregious because all these articles written by Global North academics are talking about decolonising the field of bioethics, they're talking about importance of listening to and recognising research in healthcare from Global South and yet, how do you expect this to happen in the unequal system that persists in academia?? I can easily find articles about bioethics from US, UK, EU, Australia etc. There is dearth of information from Global South and the ones that are published are behind a paywall. The least, the extreme bare minimum these journals can do is make it open access, waive the fees. But, no! All their arguments are for their research papers. No one actually wants to do what they are so eager to publish. And that kinda sucks, imo.

The goose video is wonderful! Would you ever consider sharing your knowledge of Goose Neck Language? It sounds intriguing!
I'm only a brand new student of Goose Neck Language! So I only know a few words - or at least I THINK I know them. But here's what I think:
Head Flick: "Come, children!"
Tumblr media
Because lo and behold, the children come (and offend the local ducks) :
Tumblr media
Again: (and partner gets up right away)
Tumblr media
And now here come the children:
Tumblr media
And here's a child trying it out!
Tumblr media
So that's the one I'm most sure about. But here are a couple further hypotheses....
First, directing the children to cross the road. Onward!
Tumblr media
And finally, my favorite. This one is still mysterious, but based on context (goose 1 was tentatively squeezing past me and goose 2 was bypassing secondary goose drama), I think this one means "I'm just passing through and I don't want no drama"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And those are my studies so far! But like I said, I'm still a goose neck novice! So if you are a goose expert (or a goose), I welcome further education!

E/F IS SO SO SO SO GOOD AND RIGHT PLEASE EVEN THE SYMBOLISM KICKS ASS WHY JUST 99FICS GOODBYE UNIVERSE
RIGHT!!!!!! RIGHT.
It's about the symbolism it's about the politics it's about unity and collective struggle it's about the mutual trust and respect and it's just... it's them!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To be honest I'm kind of surprised there's only 99 tagged fics, like even as a side pairing or a non-endgame pairing I'd've thought there'd be more!!! Especially given that Enjolras having had a crush on Feuilly seems to be a fairly common headcanon in fandom spaces, I would just like to know WHERE ARE ALL THE FICS. WHERE ARE THEY!!!!
Alas, if I cannot find, I must create.

Spotify Wrapped Fic Meme, 42, Bahorel and Enjolras XD?
(I know this is literally from Jan 2022, but I needed the time to get this right.)
"Cherry Wine" by Hozier, Bahorel/Enjolras
Enjolras has claimed Bahorel for the revolution.
Before Enjolras, Bahorel had always, of course, had radical political leanings — how could one look the current government in the eye and not?  Before Enjolras, however, Bahorel had been more of a backseat radical.  A computer chair troll stoking the fires of meaningless discourse, a kid with a smarmy grin wearing a political t-shirt sure to get him kicked out of class early.  Politics were his weapon of choice against society.
Enjolras had agreed that society was the enemy, then showed him how to hone his politics to change it.
Bahorel isn’t like Grantaire: Enjolras isn’t some distant ideal.  Enjolras is real and fierce, gaze icy and words burning, touch capable of equal gentleness or brutality, a mess of contradictions that leaves Bahorel equally reeling and needing more.
When word reaches them of Senator Lamarque’s death, Bahorel already knows that his fate is sealed.

Jasmine, from the ask game?:D
jasmine ⇢ do you have a movie or book you loved but will never watch/read again?
it's so funny that you asked this because les mis!!! i have all of javert's appearances tabbed out and i have already reread those passages several times but reading the whole book again? i haven't the strength. the only thing that kept me going the first time around was hoping for javert on every page and being rewarded at inconsistent random intervals with javert. i really enjoyed reading the brick but i would not enjoy reading it again 😅

i,5, and 19, from the folklore asks?:D
i ? I'm assuming that's probably meant to be either 8 or 9, and I'm going with 8 because I'm sure it'll surprise some people: Is there a specific fairy tale you dislike? Believe it or not, I have always really deeply disliked The Selkie Wife! Because I've always got the impression that while you empathize with the poor selkie who wants to go back to the sea, it always seemed to me like it was painted as just a sad situation, where you're also supposed to feel for the fisherman because he loves her so much, like just an overall Doomed Romance vibe, and NAH I'M NOT ABOUT THAT. he's a freaking kidnapper, and given that they always end up with kids in the story too, uh....yeah, that's not good either. I'm not about the forced marriage and coercion via theft of magical clothing. Which tells you exactly how A SWEET STING OF SALT got written the way it did, I guess hahaha
5 and 19 both got covered in my previous answers, this has been a popular ask game!

@pilferingapples replied to your ask: pilfering apples asked: Congrats I'm Sorry etc etc <3<3" really DOES...
RIGHT maximum navel gazing, there's probably a party with a water feature and a lot of familial conversations where someone asks for mustard or something and it signifies the way this family has never learned to mellow with each other like, never truly formed an emulsion, and that's why the main character doesn't have orgasms, or something
fsjdlkfjs EXACTLY, there's an extended flashback to a passive-aggressive non-argument that the main character once had with the person they broke up with about, like
an immersion blender
in the background of this flashback the main character says some deeply fucked-up things to the underpaid nineteen-year-old ~au pair~ who is fully raising their toddler and the focus of this interaction is on how rude and frustrating it is that people expect main character to be emotionally engaged in parenting because obviously they're dealing with enough, here, like their partner not understanding their vital needs regarding an immersion blender and also putting the slightly Off emoji in texts

MY TIME HAS COME. I have restrained myself from listing more than three because that's the rule of the game; here are some lesser know 1920s tunes!

tagged by @pilferingapples ! thank you friend!
tag someone you want to know better
favorite color: yellow
last song: it was the S1 ending song from Natsume Yuujinchou.
last movie: A Silent voice (it's an anime movie about bullying and suicide and high schoolers dealing with all that in a very messy way. i liked it)
currently watching: Natsume Yuujinchou Season 5
other stuff i watched this year: A Silent voice, Kemono no Souja Erin, other miscellaneous anime lol
shows i dropped this year/didn’t finish: kingohger (sorry! i know everyone loves it but after Racules died, i kinda lost interest. I have accepted it's just not for me). I also didn't finish Kamen Rider Geats. Maybe i will go back and finish them both, but rn, i have other stuff i wanna watch.
currently reading: Natsume Yuujinchou Manga, some non fiction books and articles- currently on How Europe Underdeveloped Africa. Want to be in the right headspace to read Madame Putiphar someday.
currently listening to : i can't do podcasts or audio books so don't really listen to things generally. i am however slowly making my way through Jules Gill Peterson's discussion on trans children. She's great tbh, definitely recommend.
currently working on: i have grand ideas for a, well, idk. i'm calling it a rebuilding fic as a working title. i'm obsessed with looking at people picking up the pieces at the death of an Empire and what happens and what changes. i still need to do more research for it though and am reading books and articles for that.
current obsession: still have pirate polycule brainworms, sorry anyone if you're still following me for les mis, maybe i'll come back to it someday but rn i'm still obsessed with pirate blorbos. In my defense they are very good blorbos. Also if anyone is looking for more pirate media to watch, please watch them and then come yell at me.

Ooh, 10,12 and 19 for the Fandom Asks?
The ask game synchronicity is strong today! I just did 10 and 12 for another ask, so I'll do 19.
19. if you could be a part of any story, which story would you want to tag along in?
I don't think I'd want to be in most of the books I read; too much danger and drama and not nearly enough sitting around chatting about books and trees.
This is a strange answer, I know, but the first thing that came into my head for a book I've always wanted to go into is the ~70 year old children's book Scuppers the Sailor Dog. He has a little ship bunk bed and at one point he's shipwrecked and makes his boat into a little house, and Tiny Elenchus wanted to go live there. Not long term, maybe, but for a visit.

Tag 10 people you want to know better I was tagged by the always delightful @pilferingapples (hi Pilf!!! Thanks for tagging me, and I miss you!) relationship status: happily single favorite color: Also green! Sage and emerald are the two specific top tier greens. A close second colour is blue. Fun fact: at 11 I decided green and blue were my favourite colours because of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi’s lightsabers in The Phantom Menace. The nerdery runs deep. (the colours never changed because turns out green and blue slap) song stuck in your head: Alternately Running Up The Hill by Kate Bush (Stranger Things I’m gonna strangle you), and ... .... mahna mahna by the Muppets lol last thing you googled: lol immunoglobulin. Love that we have both just googled Inside The Cells Stuff lol time: apparently 1:25am which is a big surprise to me because I thought it was still midnight so SURPRISE.  dream trip: Honestly, so so many places; Europe in general (France in particular), roadtrip across the US, Mexico (I just...wanna eat everything there tbh). Right now I’d settle for ‘leaving my house’ tho TBH. A daytrip to the lake would be swell, but, you know. Covid. :| tagging: @swelldame @1001paperboxes @guiltyonsundays @jeanvaljeann @kingedmundsroyalmurder @youngsterhammy @paleyparksoul @oilan @acesius
(obviously no pressure to anyone who doesn’t wanna do it! And if you do, go for it and pretend I tagged you)
