Southern Pacific C44-9W 8159 leads a train of grain hoppers eastbound over the Cienega Canyon bridge in eastern Pima County, Arizona, in 1999. The bridge was built by SP's 1920's era competitor, the El Paso and Southwestern.
Hey there! Do you live in Pima County? Can you do me a quick favor, go to this link and sign a petition for my friend Laura Conover so she can appear on this years ballot?
What's this guy doing now that he's not a sheriff? He's quite articulate for a Republican. He needs to only ever be a sheriff and only ever arrest gay guys.... half of them would enjoy that. Perhaps somebody can find a county in Arizona to designate for this manifestation.
...and it can be Pima county where he's from! I swear I might have seen him online even when I was living in Tucson.
Box Canyon Road - March 2022
On the way back from Ghost Town Trail, we decided to take East Box Canyon Road. I later looked it up and it is considered to be a dangerous road, which I already knew after traveling it. Actually, this road is much like riding a motorcycle. It isn’t so much that it is dangerous as that it is unforgiving. There was loose gravel on very hard pack so the road was somewhat slippery, twisty, and next to a steep drop off. I had the Jeep in four-wheel drive the whole way down.
Image one I took before we started down. Image two I took when we were stopped for a moment at a blind curve. The remaining images are screen captures from the short video in the following link.

The video says that there is a surprise at the end, and there is. The last image is a semi that was directed onto this road by his dispatcher. He was stopped in an area with no cell service, so he couldn’t call in and ask what he was supposed to do. After we passed him, we had to drive about four miles to get cell service. We called the sheriff and explained what was happening. Hopefully they were able to get him out or turned around or something.
