Care to talk about how anti-LGBT Palestinians are? Everyone seems to be just glossing over that fact
Yes GLADLY because I absolutely hate how often pro-Israel ppl use pinkwashing (please read that link if you don't know what pinkwashing is and how Israel has constantly used it as part of its global image agenda) to justify genocide and war crimes. I'll let you guys read that article because it does more justice to explaining this than I can.
First, it's really dumb to expect colonized nations to develop socially. Palestine was occupied by the British and then by the Israelis. Now here's something most people actually gloss over: anti-sodomy laws and anti-homosexuality laws were put into place in Gaza by the British Mandate Criminal Code Ordinance, No. 74 of 1936. Which still remains in effect to this day.
Same-sex acts were actually decriminalized in Jordanian-controlled West Bank in the early 1950s and are still upheld to this day.
Palestine itself has no legislation either for or against homosexuality.
What we SHOULD talk about is how imperialist states (mostly the US and UK) have notoriously supported and propped up Right-Wing regimes in the Islamic world to combat communist ideology. The US, UK, SB, IL have all backed right wing movements like the Muslim Brotherhood (which then became Hamas) just to thwart leftist movements like the PLO who are pro-communist elements of the Islamic world.
Maybe stop colonizing and bombing these countries so they can socially develop. I’m begging you to read Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs so you stop making stupid arguments like this.
Also idk why people have to keep saying this, but just because a country doesn't have legislation to protect the LGBTQ community, doesn't mean they deserve to be genocided. JFC

What does pinkwashed mean?
Pinkwashing is a propaganda method to appeal to progressive policies (ie lgbt+ rights) in order to distract or distance from other human rights abuses. In the context of Israel, Israel routinely exploits lgbt+ rights in order to conceal their crimes of genocide, settler colonialism, apartheid, and other war crimes towards Palestinians.
Zionsts like to portray Palestinians as backwards, oppressive, uncivilized and or needing of civility from Israel - the irony is that Israel presents itself as a progressive welcoming society but blackmails lgbt Palestinians into being informants and allies itself with other far right governments which also discriminate against lgbt citizens (gay marriage also isn't even legal in Israel lol) - Israel uses other propaganda methods too like Greenwashing and Bluewashing but I'll leave the decolonize Palestine link here for anyone wanting to read or learn more.
In short: Zionists think genocide and colonialism okay because some Palestinians are homophobic

DIVERSITY WIN!
The first gay drone pilots have their first gay civilian casualties. If Raytheon keeps this up at least 5% of all weddings bombed will be gay by next quarter. Thank you Stonewall for giving me the freedom to kill with the institutions that suppressed us for so many years. Now we do the repressing! Progress!

Listen, a huge amount of the "rainbow capitalism" criticism is straight up anti gay propaganda at this point. A few examples:
Tumblr media
I came across this screenshot on Facebook. It seems pretty awful right? You might well see this and start spiralling about how the privileged gays are wokeifying anti homeless measures.
But here's the thing though... from what I can make out, its not real.
Tumblr media
The original image is actually of a place in China, with no pride colours, and has then been photoshopped to make a point about LGBT activism. Someone has even gone as far as to target a gay politician with this fake image;
Tumblr media
Its a pretty homophobic move to photoshop anti homeless spikes to make it seem as though LGBT people are condoning homelessness, or somehow gaining from it. But somehow its just not recognised as such, given how its so popular for people (including and even especially other LGBT people) to make out that LGBT people are simply always trying to push others down for their own gain.
Another one is the infamous LGBT anti homeless boulder. This image was everywhere, i have seen it many times, and most of you probably have too:
Tumblr media
Now this isn't photoshopped, the sculpture is there and it is (or at least was) painted in pride colours. But is it anti homeless?
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Its arguably more plausible that this restaurant has lied about their intentions with the boulder than the same homeless spikes in China that went viral turned up a few days later painted in pride colours, but still it doesn't seem like the most likely thing. Its not uncommon at all for restaurants to have some artwork, or plants outside.
Furthermore it begs the question as to why this only drew attention when it was painted with pride colours, not when it was left alone, and also why does nobody (myself included until I just looked it up) know about the owners explanation? Whether you believe it or not, the point is no one has even read the version of events in which most of the staff are LGBT and some have been homeless. Because that doesn't serve the homophobic idea that LGBT people are not only privileged, but so privileged that an "LGBT anti homeless move" is very likely and will be immediately accepted.
This is particularly malicious when you realise how overrepresented LGBT people are among homeless people, and can lack support that cishet people may be able to access.

You might think that the main goal of a group of queer activists in Palestine like us in Al-Qaws should be the seemingly endless task of dismantling sexual and gender hierarchy in one’s own society.
It is. But you might think otherwise, judging from the repetitive questions we get during our lectures and events, or from inquiries we receive from media and other international organizations.
We intend to end this once and for all. Educating people about their own privilege is not our burden. But before we announce our formal retirement from this task, here are the eight most frequent questions we get, and their definitive answers.

Telling a country’s story “through its strengths” is also known as whitewashing, and there’s a long history of it in Israel. In 2005, the Israeli government, with help from American marketers, launched the Brand Israel campaign, an effort to position the country as “relevant and modern” and obscure its record of human rights abuses at a time when the Nation Brand Index deemed Israel’s brand the worst ever measured by a “considerable margin.” A crucial part of this campaign involved promoting the country as an LGBTQ haven and framing the occupation of Palestinian land as a means to protect queer people. While these efforts have been widely condemned as “pinkwashing,” they also successfully generated plenty of positive foreign press.
The Israeli government’s “veganwashing” initiative, likewise, has generated substantial pushback domestically and internationally, and attracted the attention of the global Vegans for BDS movement. But it has also earned a fair amount of unmitigated praise, including among animal rights organizations. In a 2018 blog post, PETA dubbed Israel the “vegan capital of the world,” attributing the country’s leadership on the issue to the Jewish prohibition of “tza’ar ba’alei chayim,” or the suffering of living creatures. It made no mention of the suffering of Palestinians living under Israeli occupation.
PETA also failed to describe the limits of Israel’s “vegan revolution.” While the Knesset has passed some progressive animal welfare laws, the country still has a spotty track record when it comes to animal cruelty. While Israel does have the most vegans per capita, it’s also one of the world’s biggest per capita meat consumers, and the single largest per capita consumer of poultry. And while the IDF may now have a number of soldiers who care about animal cruelty, before Israel went “cruelty-free,” the state had a history of killing zoo animals and dogs in Palestine. “The dogs were killed because they barked and alerted us to night operations whenever Israeli patrols came up through the streets,” one Palestinian man said after Israeli authorities shot at least ninety dogs in Hebron in 1995. “They didn’t shoot the stray dogs kept by settlers, did they?”

“2025 Stepan Bandera Square”
Western gay libs are going to eat this Ukrainian homonationalist shit up without a second fucking thought and it’s going to be a fucking disaster for LGBTQ people living in Ukraine and Russia. I actually feel physically sick seeing this shit happen in real time. Motherfuck the neoliberal/neofascist capture of gay liberation and what it’s done to our community.

Autism Speaks is trying to cash in on Pride Month on twitter.
Tell them they aren’t welcome at Pride, and tell them why.
They push Lovaas ABA therapy that squishes away all autistic traits, which is related to gay conversion therapy.*
Now they want to take our stories from us, too.
LGBTQIA+ autistic people’s voices are not theirs to exploit.
Let’s make noise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*not to be confused with therapy that isn’t ABA, but calls itself ABA for insurance coverage purposes. This notABA doesn’t force things like quiet hands or aversives. Sadly this causes confusion, hence me addressing this briefly.

what do you mean by pinkwashing whiteness? I've only ever heard pinkwashing used to mean the extra cost of feminine hygiene products and "womens" toiletries. But i want to understand
Tumblr media
here's the Wikipedia page about it, and also the original nyt article where the term was coined. by pinkwashing whiteness, i mean white lgbt folks using the oppression they experience as lgbt folk to separate themselves from their whiteness. i.e. likening their oppression as an lgbt person to that of a person of colour in an attempt to distance themselves from white guilt.

STAND UP AGAINST THE BIRTHRIGHT YA BOOK COMING OUT NEXT YEAR
ok, so let’s start from the beginning.
In March this year, author Haley Neil announced her debut, “ONCE MORE WITH CHUTZPAH”, a YA novel about an American teen who goes on a birthright trip to Israel and dicovers her sexuality.
This concept is a slap to the face of Palestinians.
Birthright trips are propaganda trips funded by the Israeli government, allowing Jewish young adults from around the world to visit it. THESE TRIPS ARE ZIONIST PROPAGANDA MACHINES. They are insidiously cruel, because they imply any Jewish teen from around the world has a “””right””” to visit historic Palestine, while the millions upon millions of Palestinians who trace their entire family history to that land, and who STILL hold on to the keys of the homes they were forced to flee in 1948 with equal parts hope and desperation, are systematically denied the right to ever set foot in their homeland ever again.
As you can see, having birthright trips be the backdrop of some teen’s “self-discovery” journey is appalling. HOWEVER, HALEY NEIL CHOSE TO SOMEHOW MAKE IT EVEN WORSE. The practice of using LGBT rights as propaganda to hide Israel’s ethnic cleansing and extreme oppression of Palestinians is known as Pinkwashing, and it’s a propaganda tactic that’s been used for a long time by Zionists. Not only is it pure evil to use apparent progressive values to eclipse ethnic cleansing and apartheid, BUT ISRAELI FORCES RUOTINELY BLACKMAIL GAY PALESTINIANS INTO BEING INFORMERS. THEY COULD NOT CARE LESS ABOUT LGBT RIGHTS, OR ABOUT ANY OF THE BASIC RIGHTS OF PALESTINIANS.
Palestinian activist Emily Khilfeh tried to vey politely reach out to the author, agent, and editor of the book, and THEY ALL IGNORED HER. THESE PEOPLE WHO PRETENDED TO CARE ABOUT POC IN PUBLISHING A FEW WEEKS AGO IMMEDIATELY IGNORED A WOC EXPRESSING CONCERN OVER THEIR DISGUSTING BOOK. Only after her tweets telling what happened gained traction did they deign to give statements on the issue.
Tumblr media
This is Haley Neil’s lukewarm, bullshit statement. If you’re not familiar with Zionist talking points, this might seem like an alright response to you, but the absolute uselessness of it can be summarised by noticing how she discussed her “complex feelings” about attending Jerusalem Pride because of the LGBTphobia present in Israel, WHILE NOT EVEN THINKING THAT PALESTINIAN PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF ARENT EVEN ALLOWED INTO JERUSALEM. She didn’t think to employ Palestinian sensitivity readers until AFTER the controversy. She fully intends to publish this Zionist, pinkwashing propaganda with only some “revisions” to appease the more liberal critics.
THIS WHOLE BOOK IS A MESS AND AN INSULT TO PALESTINIANS SUFFERING FROM HORRIFYING OPPRESSION BY THE HANDS OF ISRAEL. IT HAS TO BE STOPPED FROM BEING PUBLISHED.
Since these people have shown they only care about making money and maintaining their reputation, the only way to REALLY make them listen is to hit them where it hurts.
IF YOU CARE ABOUT COMBATING ZIONIST PROPAGANDA AT ALL, PLEASE GO TO THE BOOK’S GOODREADS PAGE, GIVE A ONE STAR RATING, AND WRITE A SMALL REVIEW EXPLAINING WHY. Making a Goodreads account if you don’t have one only takes 5 minutes, and is very easy!!!! It’s also a pretty important site for the publishing industry, especially for debut books like this one!!!!
ALSO, PLEASE TWEET THE PUBLISHER,  @bloomsburykids, DEMANDING THEY PULL THE BOOK, AND EMAIL THEM AT  [email protected] IF YOU CAN.
Publishing is a money hungry industry that DOESNT CARE about POC, but if they see this kind of debut book is getting this much backlash, then they will think twice about publishing it. HELP PALESTINIANS OUT

Pinkwashing allows uninformed people to think Israel is some gay paradise. There is no marriage equality in Israel, even for heterosexual Palestinians/Israeli Arab peoples. There is no marriage equality for queer people in Israel either. Do not let the uberpopular appeal of a rainbow city like Tel Aviv get you twisted. Israel isn’t queer friendly.
