theo’s bedroom is slowly coming together

#river dipping #theodore doe #echthroi #ts4 #ts4 edit #after the save broke yesterday morning for the fourth! time i finally pulled up mod manager and started looking through the hundreds of #conflicts i apparently had and also deleted well over 500+ duplicates... my mods folder is SO rancid i'm sure i missed some conflicts #bc see those dark blue pillows on theo's bed? those are actually white :) but for some reason when i move the pillows near the wall they #change color depending on the time of day... it's not just those pillows some other objects do it too... just closing my eyes at it <3 #the bed and desk are where theo spends most of his time so i spent forever on them. his bed needed to be overwhelmed by stuff #there are... ten pillows i believe two large covers a sheet and a blanket. theo kind of just... burrows into the center and hides. #bunny boy behavior........ and yeah those are matthias's gloves on theo's desk <3 #i have to recolor the stuff on theo's walls later. i imagine his walls are mostly empty and it's just the floors in his apt. that're messy #but i wanted sticky notes to help him remember things and that back wall is going to have matthias's art and love letters #<- which theo definitely takes down and hides whenever matthias actually comes over lmaoooo #also i finally moved all of the pins from theo and matthias's boards over to @theodoredoe (mattodore was taken 😞) #i wanted a place just for my oc boards and i also wanted to be able to add sections to each oc's boards so! new acc! #yk how i mentioned theo's board looking so cluttered? yeah so. figured out it's bc over half of his board is just quotes #i made a section and threw all the 200+ quotes in there and will slowly put some of them in his main board #his board just looks so much better now like i'm so happy about it 🥰 it was definitely worth the time #OH ALSO!!!! IF ANYONE HAS SOME DEAD PLANT CC PLEASEEEE SEND IT MY WAY!!!! #theo really loves just. ripping plants and flowers out of the ground and taking them home to put in little pots but. he always kills them #jsknndkhj so i need dead plants!! limp!! love it when a character that's hard to read intuitively for you has like a dedicated fandom interpreter who can just glance at their blank face in a panel and then give you a 3k word essay on their innermost thoughts & desires & fears and neatly tie it back into the themes & whatnot as if it's the most obvious thing in the world

#im talking about griffith btw #guts i feel i get intuitively - maybe because i have some personality traits in common with him #and we get more about his life concretely told to us in canon. so he is a bit easier to pin down as a character and feel attached to for me #but whenever i was reading the manga i just kept wanting more insight about griffith's actions and feelings #like ok yeah its fun to have mysterious antagonists and suspense /tension etc but its also fun to feel like you deeply understand them too #and i felt like that was a bit missing from him for me in canon #so reading about him in analysis and fics is the most fun for me rn #he always felt kinda half unreal to me- which maybe was the point of him - but i wanted a bit more about his childhood or something? #and wished we had more stuff explicitly from his pov in the story to read or explanation about his transformation or wtv #and now he's so much more closed off to me even than he was in the golden age. i keep waiting for him to explain stuff and he does not #ANYWAYS all this rambling to say some people out there are very good at interpreting him and making his like. insecurities #more obvious to me bc i didnt really get that side of him from canon intuitively well #also im really enjoying reading the first few berserk fics ive read #there may not be a ton of them out there but there is def writing talent in the fandom #i'll share some recs once i'm done sifting through most of what's out there to read #also (not to tie everything back to death note but it IS my home fandom after all) #i feel griffith is obvs the more light-like character here and L maybe a bit guts-like? but unlike berserk in death note #light is the one you get to know best and L is the mysterious / unreal one you don't get a lot of concrete insight into #and in the DN fandom I can read the more mysterious character intuitively but had to warm up to the less mysterious one instead #and the mystery of L makes sense to me and doesnt bug me as much due to like - he HAS to hide a lot about himself or else he will die lol #so some similarities there but also some opposite feels as well #berserk spoilers #p

meanwhile the lamb, an unwilling sacrifice who has, as far as their memory is concerned, just experienced a death that is debatably the most traumatic death they've ever experienced, is very unhappy and the angst is just immaculate

standard edition captured and wounded/tortured stede whump fic but it remembers his pain tolerance, there’s just this whole like

hes off screen getting hurt, you got the screaming you got the shouting, ed spends the entire time in the brig or w/e losing his entire mind about it. and they dump stede back in there and he’s on the floor and ed is having a whole fucking crisis trying to provide some comfort and pet his hair and wake him up 

and then after thirty seconds stede just cracks an eye open and goes “im so sorry ed i didn’t have time to give u a secret improv fuckery signal, that must have been awful for u. although honestly i think i oversold that fifth plea for mercy, they really weren’t giving me anything to work with creatively :/” 

and yeah he is for real hurt and needs tlc recovery time and maybe lets himself have a lil cathartic cry as a treat once they are safe and alone again bc there’s a fine line to tread between using pain for comedy and pain tolerance as nature vs something he had to learn, and his sort of horribly casual way of rolling w pain and damage to himself once it’s been done and all that 

but i do think that “well i didnt care for that and it ruined this shirt which is a real bummer” energy needs more rep in fanworks

my pieces got accepted to the local museum ! i was quite sure they'd been rejected because i was supposed to hear back over 2 weeks ago, but i guess there were just time issues. am very happy about this !

#found out this morning that my work account was hacked and my last paycheck was diverted to somebody else's bank account #which ate up my entire morning figuring out and has been incredibly stressful. it sounds like whether they can recover the money or not #i will still get my paycheck but the person i spoke to couldnt tell me when bc it has to be looked at by specialists #its also rent paying time so that was the worst possible timing for this to happen and sucks so bad. #so finding out my pieces were accepted and at least im getting a paycheck from that is very relieving #i also realized last night that the colors on the blanket are scaring me #in that i dont know if they actually work or not after all... i just made a little pin loom square with them to see it with the weft #its drying rn ill take a picture soon for comments if i can get the colors right #anyway. yeah so some good news is very appreciated right now for sure

I would love to learn more about Alfred’s beliefs and why he does what he does re: enabling Bruce’s mission, helping the Robins and even directly giving Tim and Damian the suits. I’ve read fics where he’s like ‘i can’t stop you but i can at least help you stay safe’ but that doesn’t make enough sense of his actions for me. Do you have any thoughts on this, or recs of comics/posts/fics where this is explored? Thanks, i love your deep dives! No pressure tho ofc 💌

Alfred is difficult like most comics characters it really depends on who is writing him that decides what the finer points of his personality and relationship with Bruce are, some writers really like playing up the father son thing while others will make alfred a bit colder and focus more on alfred seeing himself as more of an employee and how this may negatively affect his relationship with Bruce and how much he's willing to push back on things like batman

Personally I enjoy it more when alfred will tell himself I'm just the butler but really he does see himself as a father to bruce and Bruce sees him as nothing but a father figure, I also enjoy when alfred is more believes in what Bruce is doing then pushing back considering as you said the things we've seen alfred do he is the one half the time handing out these costumes - alfreds background as well is kinda strange he was in the military then he went to mi5 and finally ended up an actor before his dad kicked it and he decided fuck it I'm gonna be the butler for the same family my dad worked for - this to say he's not the most normal guy out there
