Today’s joke time for Komik Istrip number 005 is titled Homemade Cooking 😀
Isang OFW ang umoorder sa isang cafeteria overseas…
OFW: Please give me a very salty sunny side up egg, burnt hotdogs, burnt fried rice and a very sweet cup of coffee.
Waitress: Uh, OK.Waitress: But why in the world do you want to have those?
OFW: Ah, eh, because I miss my wife’s cooking hehe
Dami pa dito: Pinoy Jokes…
I really wanna start reading komiks and support local works, but idk if it's my connection or the app is just buggy as hell, but I can't fucking make an account on Penlab abshdjdjdk
I only know Penlab for reading Pinoy komiks. Does anybody know of an alternative?
Zsazsa Zaturnnah is the story of a shy gay man who swallows a magical rock that transforms him in to flamboyant female superhero!
It takes ages to make an animated film. Our studio, Rocketsheep, is now in year 4 of production so we put this sizzle reel together to remind us of our progress. We can't wait to finish this film & share it with the universe ❤
One of the goals of our studio is to continously rep the Philippines in animated form. Most young Pinoy artists we come across are raised on either Anime or Marvel & are not really intrested in drawing our enviroments & our people. It's understandable, we don't have a lot of animated genre stuff to watch that are set in our country, and more importantly, we do not have an industry of Pinoy Animation to look forward being a part of. We hope that changes someday
Wanted to celebrate both Independence day and pride month so why not put two icons together 💅💅
The woman in the left is from a Filipino comic called “Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah,” which is about a transfem beauty salon owner named Ada who swallowed a meteor rock and can transform into the heroine, Zaturnnah.
It tackles issues like homosexuality in the Ph, trans identity, and feminism all the while giving us stuff like fighting giant frogs and zombies, defeating the queen of aliens called ‘Womyn’, and a beefy himbo love interest it’s so good I died laughing in my lit class XD
Starra: another rare heroine finally turns up after 20 years
Starra was a one-shot episode of Filipino anthology tv show, Wansapanataym, broadcast back in 2002. The long-running show was (and still is) a feel-good mix of fantasy and fairy tales aimed at a family audience, featuring a diverse range of stories told across a variety of genres -- including superheroes. The episode in question, Starra, showcased Claudine Barretto as Rosario, a young woman who -- when danger appears -- has the ability to transform into the titular superheroine.
Although some grainy screen shots have been available online for a while (rescued, thanks to the internet archive, from an early 2000s web forum post), the full episode itself has been missing for 20 years -- until now. Jeepney TV, a digital channel owned by Pinoy broadcaster ABS-CBN (who are planning to screen the new Darna tv show later this year) have finally uploaded the full episode to their YouTube channel, free to watch.
The 20 year old episode is a enjoyable, if only for the laughably bad special effects, created on a woefully limited budget in an age when CGI was still beyond the reach of most cheap television. Even without being able to understand the single word of dialogue, the heady mix of serious drama and pantomime-style silliness is endearing, and Barretto is clearly giving it her all as a superheroine, even if her costume is more camp than crimefighter.
If you want to see the whole episode, you can catch it here.

Hello! I want to ask what conventions you usually attend! By the time your announcement posts show up it's way too late for me to get my ass to the convention oTL
Sorry bout that 😅 I rarely announce on tumblr btw because I'm not sure how big my pinoy audience is here, so twitter is most consistent for that.
My main and favorite convention I regular is Komiket! Especially if it's at Quezon Ave Centris or Megamall- there's a good chance I've applied for a table. The organizers are also often very nice to me and give me table #7 or #77.
Though I've also enjoyed the special komiks-only and Pride events at Ayala Malls the 30th. [near Shaw]
I generally deeply dislike commuting to Taguig/BGC and Makati and have never attended events there lmao, and I've never done an event outside NCR.
Komiketmas was my last con this year. I have no confirmed tables yet for 2024, but I applied for Komiket February (Centris) and Komiket March (Megamall) so watch out for those!
I'm gonna try my hand at AA photocards lmao and LOTS of orv merch....
